LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- With a touch of humor and at one point admonition, President Obama urged supporters at a Los Angeles fundraiser here not to lose enthusiasm for his campaign just because he had one lousy debate performance.
The president kicked off his remarks with an allusion to last Wednesday night that the whole crowd seemed to pick up on. Praising his opening acts at the Nokia Theater here, which included Stevie Wonder, Jon Bon Jovi and Katy Perry, Obama said, “These guys perform flawlessly night after night.”
“I can’t always say the same,” he continued, waiting a beat for comic timing.
And later he reminded his audience that he had some imperfect moments during the last campaign as well.
“Everybody always remembers the victory but they don’t always remember the bumps in the road; things always look good in retrospect.
“But in the middle of it, we were – we made all kinds of mistakes. We goofed up, I goofed up, but the American people carried us forward,” urging his supporters not to forget that they stuck by him even when he hiccupped in 2008 – something he hopes they do over the next 30 days.

You are right, Obama's unemployment numbers are much higher than Bush's. But I will give you that the economy is very complicated and no one has all the solutions.
Yep, we are exporting and that is great. That means jobs and a growing economy. Too bad that Obama has tried to sabotage it and the only place that is growing is private land we Obama can't do anything about it. Obviously you don't know much about current drilling practices if you think that it will despoil federal lands. We could drill all the oil under Yellowstone and not even enter the park.
There are thousands of parents waiting in long lines to adopt babies. The problem is that there are not enough babies for parent to adopt.

Actually, just to deal with one of your points. The high gas prices are now only in California and that state has the toughest regulations in the country. So the high gas prices are the result of over regulation to such a degree that the governor is considering an emergency measure to give waivers just to lower the cost of gas at the pump.
Gas $3.40 a gallon in So.Car. So don't move to Cal !
Obama's problem.......
Obama was great and said the right things in 2008. Hope and change. The problem with hope is that it is meaningless unless people take action. Obama should not be reelected because he has failed to take action. He has done absolutely nothing to fix any of our long term problems in the economy. His policies worked in the short term, but they amount to nothing more than painkillers. It makes people fine for a little while, but eventually they wear off and nothing is better. How many of you would stay with a doctor who only gave you painkillers and never tried to fix the problem?
Don't you pay attention? Most American's are on some type of medication. There is an epidemic of Prescription Drug abusers right now in America. On your comment about the President not getting anything done, I now have insurance! Where is your comment on how Congress has done anything to make things better? Where is your comment on how Congress has done anything at all? Where in our constitution does it say our President is supposed to write law and pass it? He has the right to use Executive Orders but those are only powers to be used when nothing or no one else is working such as Congress! I won't let our Republican Congress set back and do nothing and then blame the President for their lack of work to be the Party that holds the Presidents seat for the next 4 years! I have pledged not to elect a Republican for the next 8 years because of their lack of work for the last 4 years! The "newest" refinery in the United States began operating in 2008 in Douglas, Wyoming.However, the newest significant (or sophisticated) refinery began operating in 1977 in Garyville, Louisiana. Source eia.gov

There may be thousands of parents waiting for children to adopt, but they are waiting for blue-eyed white babies (I am white) and I serve on the board of a children and families social services agency. There are thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of children to adopt, particularly children who are 5+ years old of all colors. But they don't "fit the mold". I, too, am from the west. Born in Chyenne. Raised in Texas and New Mexico. Lived 26 years in the Bay Area. I live in the northwest now.
My father was a driller, and I spent my youth as a roughneck. Your claim of enviornmental harm is BS. If there were that kind of harm done to the environment, the west would be a wasteland. The northwest would be barren. The fish on California's coasts would be dead. NONE OF THAT has happened. You're just spreading FUD. Why don't you tell us about the evil nuclear generators too? I mean with all those horrible nuclear accidents, you can surely show me mutants and hosts of graves caused by them, can't you?

I do value social issues as well. I am voting on social issues mainly this time because neither will be able to do @!$%# for economy or foreign policy. Affordable Care Act...my daughters have not been able to find full time jobs that offer health care insurance...I can keep them on my insurance plan until they are 26
Education...I was a beneficiary of government grants and low interest student loans. I now make over $100,000 a year and have repaid many times over what I received. Obama has helped keep these in place.
I used a food shelf for 6 months when I moved out of my parents abusive home many years ago.
I used Planned Parenthood when I was young before I had health insurance benefits. If I had gotten pregnant at 19 I probably would not have finished college.
Planned parenthood does not use tax dollars to fund abortion. Abortions are private donation and personal payment funded.
My friend paid into the tax system her whole life. When she lost her health insurance due to a layoff, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was able to qualify for some Medicaid and thanks to Tampa General Hospitals generosity received the surgery and care she deserved. She paid in for many years and when it was time for her to need help, thank god she was able to get some in return.
My dad was on welfare many years ago when I was a child because he had five kids and medical bills up the butt. My mother had just died from a failed kidney transplant. He got off as soon as he could, but help was there when he needed it
Everyone has a story....we that are lucky enough to be living in a good place need to listen to those stories...

I can tell you that if you lose enthusiasm and all three branches of gov are completely controlled by repubs, a lot of people can kiss their freedom goodbye, especially women, minorities, gays. They are all about returning the power back to white males, especially older ones because they don't like progress or new ideas. Being a straight white male, you know I could have considered voting for their party of about 20 years ago, but now they are hell bent on turning back rights for all other types of people back 100 years, and we fought and won too many wars to let them take us back pre-Civil War political days.

Yep as one of the guest writers on Huff Post put it a few weeks ago, think he is a history/poli sci professor at Sacramento State, their approach is the social darwinism survival of the fittest (which for them and Romney especially seems to be move our good jobs to places the owners profit more from cheap labor and no regulations) like Rand wanted but without the freedom Rand believed in to live your life the way you wanted. So the worst of both worlds is the direction they seem to be going in, unless you have heard a commitment they will guarantee bringing those good offshore jobs they started back here (and get it in writing from the CEOs and owners), and a slow but getting quick of directing / forcing lifestyles on folks, plus limiting rights of anyone not white male and upper class.

It has more than doubled our here in northern California...today's price for regular is @ $4.80 per gallon and expected to go higher over the next few weeks until the refineries produce more of their winter blend of gasoline. Meanwhile Barry is in southern California taking in more megabucks and bragging about his administration's accomplishments since he took office in 2009
