Romney gets personal at Florida rally

The presidential race heated up as Mitt Romney continued his assault of President Obama's record in Florida, saying that a 7.8 percent unemployment rate is nothing to celebrate. NBC's Ron Mott reports.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Mitt Romney concluded a three-day Florida campaign swing with one of his largest crowds of the campaign season packing a town square to hear his retooled stump speech, which now highlights the sometimes-rigid candidate's personal side.

"Now I’m optimistic – I want you to know that great days are ahead," Romney said Sunday before more than 10,000 supporters. "I know something about great human beings in this country. It’s that that gives me the confidence that our future will be so bright, because I’ve seen how Americans respond to challenge – and even to tragedy."

Romney then repeated three tales of courage in the face of death and tragedy that he debuted days ago in this critical battleground state.

The stories, told in succession, have quickly become a staple of Romney's stump speech and are designed to highlight the candidate's personal compassion.

One story even makes note of Romney's time as a pastor of a Massachusetts ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – a period once all but off limits for Romney, who rarely spoke of his Mormon religion in the early months of the campaign.

“I was serving as a pastor in my congregation at church and the – young fellow in our ward named David Oparowski, his parents from Medford, Massachusetts – his dad a firefighter, his mom a stay at home mom. They raised their two sons. But at age 14, David contracted leukemia and became very, very ill," Romney said. "It was clear that there was no good conclusion to this leukemia."

Romney ends the story of David's untimely death with a recitation of the phrase: "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose," borrowed from the NBC’s high school football drama, "Friday Night Lights." That phrase, with the "can't lose" removed, also appeared in a campaign fundraising email from Ann Romney on Sunday.

The former Massachusetts governor also hit all five points of his economic plan. He also noted that his plan would protect Medicare for current seniors and reform it for the future.

Given the heated battle for the senior vote here in Florida, the Obama campaign quickly fired back on Medicare reform.

"Mitt Romney would turn Medicare into a voucher program and increase costs for retirees by more than $6,000,” Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith said in a statement. “The truth hurts – especially for the middle class families who would suffer under Romney’s policies.”

Looks like Obama would be worried about this bad economy and 28 million out of work and less about an election.

After 4 years of campaining he cares less about people being out of work.

In the late 1990′s, Mitt presented himself to the Board seeking the building of a 94,000 square foot Mormon Temple. Despite a packed room of those opposed to the Temple, letters inundating the newspapers in opposition to the Temple and lawsuits challenging the building of the Temple, Mitt Romney took to the floor and argued on behalf of building the Temple which was, in fact, approved and built. In August, 2000, at the time the Temple was opened, Mitt gave an interview with the Globe stating “It feels great to have a temple closer to home.”

Tagg Romney cut his road trip short stumping for his father’s presidential election campaign to come home to attend a meeting rescheduled and set for August 15, 2012. He had participated and helped organize the community in a united effort to thwart the purchase of the land by the hospice company, and to “Preserve Our Neighborhood.” Signs were everywhere and the room was once again packed for the hearing. At the time of the hearing, Tagg Romney, like his father a little over a decade before him, took to the floor and argued that the increased traffic, ambulances, coroner vehicles and excessive employee traffic would cause problems for the current homeowners (All these complaints were contradicted by the hospice company). Tagg spoke about the real issue bothering him: The reduction of his home’s property value.

“I certainly would not have built my house if I thought there was a possibility of a hospice going there. The value of all our homes will decrease dramatically.”

I lost both my parents in 2010. Both died in hospice. This story is personal.

War on women,
War on fuel,
War on America,
What are we to do?

Fast and Furious,
And Benghazi too.
Several are dead,
Because of you.

Splitting the country,
In more ways than one.
You won't be happy,
Until you have won.

Wasted tax dollars,
Right down the drain
.And you want more,
You are inflicting such pain.

On November the sixth,
I will cast my vote.
And I hope and pray,
This is far as it goes.

I am a proud veteran,
Who went to Viet Nam.
And I will not bury,
My head in the sand.

To "The Messiah" Obama,
You must go.
For the good of the country,
God please make it so.

Jobs? Seems to me the only person who is held accountable for jobs is President Obama.

Take Jack Welch for instance. The guy who made news last week for questioning the integrity of job numbers. Now I understand why he questioned them. According to his philosphy, there ain't no jobs! Thanks to him.

_____________

No one is credited more than Jack Welch for popularizing outsourcing and offshoring (yes, it is not just offshoring and India). Remember his original formula - 70:70:70? That is 70% of all GE processes could be outsourced; 70% of all that could be outsourced could be offshored; and 70% of all that could be offshored could be offshored to India. The first 70% actually stood - or rather stands - for outsourcing. Like Moore's law in semiconductor, Welch's formula, by and large, is still valid as an end planning formula for large diversified corporations. As a philosophy, well, not so sure.

Have you given any serious thought to your post......Think about it!

McConnell......"Make Obama a one term President"

Limbaugh........"Hope he fails"

Tea People.......Filibuster anything and everything in the Senate.....then pass nothing in the House!

TeaPeople radicals have subverted President Obamas policies since day one....

Wasted the entire Congress on repealing ObamaCare, naming post offices, and restricting a womans right to choice............That is when they were in session, which was rare!

Vote all TeaPeople OUT!

After the article said the crowd was 10,000.

Just my opinion. The DNC should find smarter trolls to pay to post their garbage. The ones they are paying aren't up to the job.

Romney/Ryan in a landslide. Really looking forward to Biden demonstrating why the world knows him as "dumbass". I read an article which said he has been in preparation for 10 days. My guess is he barely remembers he's in govt and is "Clintonizing" any young intern he runs across.

All you blow hard liberals can do is blame everything on Bush. If Obama happens to fool enough of you liberals and he gets re-elected he will have to change his blame tune because he is responsible for the past 4 years, not Bush.

I don't know why you all can't post about the current issues instead of the ones that your party is trying to keep saying that is entirely NOT true. Obama just kept saying it even after Romney told him that it was not true and explained to him the exact truth but all he could do was bow his head and blink his eyes. Oh how he missed that prompter. Sorry Obama, you are not such a good speaker after all - maybe a good reader but not a good speaker.

And this is the situation for Romney. If he was president could you believe him? Could you really? Let's just say when those mormon missionaries are out trying to proselytise, they sure don't mention planet Khobar.

Because in 29 short days, his visage will evaporate from the political scene for the foreseeable future, America can continue its reawakening from the nightmare of the Bush "presidency," and with a bit more effort, Congress will see a large correction from the failure called the "tea party" experiment.

I could never stand the site of Jack Welch myself. Or his wife. Man, you should read about HER. Yikes.

Anyway, here's more Welch:

Jack Welch Probably Shouldn't Bring Up Doctored Numbers:

Indeed, GE agreed to a $50 million fine in 2009 after the Securities and Exchange Commission charged that it had been toying with its accounting numbers for years to make it look as if the company’s performance had met or exceeded analysts’ expectations. Forbes‘s Dan Fisher wrote in 2009:

Like a professional baseball player revealed to have been dabbling in steroids, GE prolonged a nearly decade-long record of meeting or exceeding analyst expectations by resorting to tricks including “selling” locomotives to financial institutions in transactions that looked a lot like loans, and fiddling with the accounting for interest-rate hedges.

So maybe that’s why Welch suspects book-cooking where everyone else refuses to see it. He knows it wouldn’t be the first time a major institution has gotten a little tricky with their numbers.

I read an article yesterday (I can't remember where) about the Romney campaign plane. They were all hooting & a hollering about their supposed debate victory when the jobs numbers were announced while in flight.

All of a sudden - silence. A sort of depression was evident throughout the plane.

That's today's Republican Party with Romney at the helm. Good news for America and Romney and his bunch don't even have the decency to applaud it.

After all, it's all about them. Not America.

ALWAYS a riot to watch the drones justify their positions with bullsh!t. Politifact is fiction. Thinking informed people do not take them seriously.

Romney beat your savior over his head with his crown of thorns. Then he crucified him with facts and Obama won't be rising in three days or ever..

Foreign policy is the next topic losers. It has been amply demonstrated that your messiah's administration is a failure in this area. Romney will shred his amateurish, platitudinal, dogmatic, bullsh!t in the same fashion as he did your lord's "economic" policy.

F"ing hilarious how the drones keep on droning when facts are not their friends.

Sailcat,

RCP is just one of my sources. I use several others, who often get polls that RCP doesn't post.

The Shift that occured was 4 - 5 points, on polls that are averaging the 2004 & 2008 voting patterns. This is looking back to the previous time that poller posted. In Florida, Virginia, and Ohio posting Romney leads for the first time in a month, Other close states like Nevada, Iowa, will not be far behind. The only thing that can hold Obama in the lead is the previous polls which he lead in. These are early, the next batch of polls may actually be a couple points more of shift.

Now, consider that Wisconsin has shifted toward Romney it is not unreasonable to see other 5 - 10 point away states probably will have narrowed also. Those states include Wisconsin (7), Oregon (9), Minnesota, (8) Pennsylvania (7). States with a 10 - 15 point cushion New Mexico 10.5, Connecticut (12), Washington (11), Michigan, (12)

As I said. One more bad debate and with a similar shift, the election becames a landslide for Romney

Mitt is going to socialize the United States while Pres. Obama has been too conservative to (well to the right of) majority of liberals.

The Mormons have an elaborate cradle-to-grave welfare system that Most Americans would find alien to them.

Obama lived a comfortable early life because of the income from his maternal grandma..a banking executive who died a day before the historical election in 2008.

Grandma will be missed, because obviously Grandma had raised Barry right.

Speaking of pathetic, how about these quotes by your favorite failed candidate, Willard Milton Romney?

"I'm Mitt Romney and, yes Wolf, that is also my first name!" —Mitt Romney, at the beginning of a November 2011 Republican presidential debate, getting his own name wrong (his first name is ''Willard,'' and his middle name is "Milton", or as he seems to prefer, ''Mitt'')

"I pushed the idea of managed bankruptcy, and finally, when it was done and help was given, the companies got back on their feet. So, I'll take a lot of credit for the fact this industry's come back." -Mitt Romney taking undeserved credit for the resurgent American auto industry in May, 2012 in spite of a New York op-ed piece Romney wrote in 2008 entitled Let Detroit Go Bankrupt in which he said, "If General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler get the bailout that their chief executives asked for yesterday, you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye."

"When you give a speech, you don't go through a laundry list. You speak about the things you think are important." —Mitt Romney, when asked about failing to mention the troops in his nomination speech at the Republican National Convention, Fox News interview, Sept. 7, 2012

"I saw my father march with Martin Luther King!" —GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, bragging in 2007 about his family's record on civil rights. Romney later admitted he didn't technically see his father march with King.

''I believe in an America where millions of Americans believe in an America that's the America millions of Americans believe in. That's the America I love.'' —Mitt Romney (January 2012)

Yeah, that ought to satisfy anyone foolish enough to think Willard is going to win this election...

re post 1.59: "2010 was an indisputable lean towards conservatism. That swell has not simply gone away."

I kinda think the swelling will go down appreciably after a good application of "Preparation 11-6-12."

It's been proven effective highly against hemorrhoids, so the benefits should transfer to the "tea party" and other failed conservative thinking equally.

Arthur66 and Liberal-Truth:

Considering the steaming pile that George Dubya Teflon Bush left, I'd say the progress is quite gratifying indeed. Perhaps if you read about the Great Depression and learned about the causes thereof and see what's been avoided here by comparison, you might understand why we're optimistic and, yes, happy.

But I sincerely doubt you'll bother.

Bush had a truly evil vice-president. Whereas, Romney has the kid from "the omen"....oops, another bad example

Bush was a crappy governor who let the Democratic legislature do all the heavy lifting, then he would step in sign the legislation and take credit for everything. Whereas, Romney was.....oh forget it!

I went to the Romney event in Orlando and the crowd was MASSIVE!! They said 10,000 and that very well may be true but could easily fill a decent size professional basketball stadium. The support of Romney is growing in leaps and bounds now and the latest polls are going to drastically move towards Romney in the coming weeks and the reason is simple: Obama can't run on his record.

When the ONLY chance Obama has is to try and attack the opponent then it is over. If Obama had done ANYTHING positive over the last 4 years then all he should have to do is remind the voters of his "success". But Obama doesn't have any - so try to attack Romney. And that is fine - keep it up because that just portrays desperation.

Over 23 million unemployed. GDP growing at a pathetic 1.3%. 1 in 7 on Food Stamps. 1 in 6 in Poverty. 50% of college graduates can't find a full-time job in their field. Businesses stagnant. New business growth at a low not seen since the 70's. Lowest labor-participation rate since the 70's. Highest percent of unemployed 6 months or more since the Great Depression. Added over $6 TRILLION in debt. The Obama record is a clear and obvious failure - and Mitt Romney is needed to fix this mess Obama has created.

So just continue your desperation of trying to attack Romney because each day Romney speaks of how he will fix this country and economy, and each day Obama NOT able to speak about what he has done (nothing - absolutely nothing) and what he plans to do, is one more day the voters realize what a failure Obama is. Just 4 more weeks and we will be able to fix this catastrophe of Barack Hussein Obama by kicking his butt back to Chicago.

It's kind of interesting now to scan down through these posts... There are like 10 good little liberal soldiers, continuing to spew the mantras of "Romney cares only about the rich", and "Romney want's to do away with Medicare".... Romney is out on the stump today pitching his economic plan and his ideas. Obama is out on the stump criticizing Romney! If Obama wants to have a chance, his best bet would be to quit hurling insults at Romney and tell us what his plans are (other than what hasn't been working for four years). People want to know why they should give Obama four more years, and he isn't giving any reasons (other than how evil Romney is).

Obama said it best in the last election: When you don't have a record to run on, all you can really do is criticize your opponent. For once, he spoke the truth.

You discussed how Mitt Romney visited a vet's shelter and joked about how they need milk. You smirked that Romney went uncaringly on his way. Well, to finish the story, milk showed up at the door, enough for every veteran, every day. Two years later, the vets found our that it was Mitt Romney who had made sure the vets received milk every day since Mitt Romney went that one day and realized the vets had none.

I hear Mitt's working on a new one now. Something about, as a young Man in France, He once stuck His finger in a hole in a dam and kept the dam from breaking and the escaping water to a trickle. Course there's an old, inactive prostitute, who says It wasn't His finger, and is threatening to sue Him for claiming She was a dam back then. Also she says the sum-bitch ran away before paying Her.

“The truth hurts – especially for the middle class families who would suffer under Romney’s policies.”

Suffer? How about being eliminated, which is what the real goal is. Romney's manta is "If you're not smart enough, or lucky enough like me, then you don't deserve anything more than bare existence. And i'm going to create 12 million jobs, I just don't know where yet."

It's disturbing that Mitt still wants to change MediCare into a vulture system. It's also laughable that he pledges not to do the reform to the current recipients.

      .

Imaging those close to retiring age have worked so hard and contributed so much will see their benefits cut - or at least vulturized. A reminder to Mitt - these folks tend to turn up at the voting booth too.

introduced 73 bills on the family relationships, introduced 36 bills on marriage, introduced 72 bills on firearms,
introduced 604 bills on taxation, introduced 467 bills on government investigation, Forgot 33 votes to repeal Health Care 1.6 billion 80 hours lost!

      dal says:

Where is OBAMA'S PLAN?? Hmmmmmmm OUR JOBS!!!! Have you watched the news? Romney is all talk. Obama gave US JOBS

I see once again the one who has no responsibility for and cannot creat jobs gets the credit. How about those evil tea partiers who got elected on jobs. You've got jobs yet they had nothing to do with it? You people are blind sheep plain and simple. If not for the so called "obstruction", businesses would not hire at all. It is only due to the stoppage of the runaway train of liberalism that business people see a little light and will very slowly (due to the fact Obama still has office), and I mean slowly and cautiously add any jobs due to the fact that if he does things by the book, stupid crap can be stopped by the House. Only when the executive orders and executive privilege hand are played will his BS get through. And I for one as well as millions of other Americans don't like what we see. Example: the watered down "dream act" that Obama has put into place.

Oh and that veterans jobs bill, when it came time to vote the libs had inflated the cost to the point where it exceeded the monies that were allotted for it. That is the main reason. Secondary is the fact that there are five or six "veterans programs" in effect now that apparently don't function as planned. Why not just revamp those? You guys are so in search of talking point you don't even look at what is in place already and evidentally NOT working.

Mitt Romney made his real side known when he spoke to his rich contributors on the tape. These stories about the youth with leukemia and his will, etc. have already been seen - I believe during the Republican convention. Mitt Romney is out for the "pat on the back", not truly a compassionate, caring person. He may be a "bishop" in his church but he fails by the standards of the Bible and Christian beliefs of caring for those less fortunate, the sick, the old, etc. Anyone wearing their "religion" or fake compassion on their sleeve is not worthy of being our president. Wanting to make Social Security a voucher program, taking away the only tax deductions regular Americans have, taking away PBS and programming, mostly funded by viewer subscribers, and for many preschool children, Sesame Street and Big Bird, may be their only exposure to preschool - unlike the privileged Romney family who can afford any school, anywhere, at any cost. The Republicans have made many insulting and tragic remarks about women, their bodies, their reproductive health and right to choose. They want to take away funding for many poor and elderly women - screening for cancer and other health issues. They want to take away food programs for our working poor families and those in genuine need of help. They have even put down our military in hazardous combat areas by forgetting they, too, do not pay taxes. Mitt Romney pretty much implied that living in an "apartment" means you rely on the government for everything, including housing. Does he not know that many well to do people live in luxury apartments all over our country - Michigan Avenue, New York City, LA, etc. Our elderly and those approaching retirement age (and all workers) have paid into Social Security and pay federal and state income taxes according to their pay scales - no one can say most Americans (47%) do not pay taxes. American workers, past, current and younger deserve to have the security of Social Security when they reach retirement age. Even younger workers should be worried about a voucher program with no guarantees of cost of inflation, higher medical costs, etc. They should not ignore what is being said by the GOP/TP and Romney/Ryan. We pay many taxes - income, sales tax, state and local taxes, excise taxes on phones, utilities, etc., gas tax, - so even poor people are paying taxes in one form or another. Mitt Romney has pandered to minorities throughout his campaign - with token Blacks and speaking Spanish to select groups of Latinos/Hispanics. His organizers have gathered women into a photo opt to pander to women. We have pretty much seen and heard it all - Mitt Romney showed his true colors and they are not good, kind or appreciated. Let him go back to the south of France where he dodged going to Vietnam while many of his generation died, or to his ocean front home, elevators and all, or the Cayman Islands, Switzerland or anywhere else he has hidden wealth. Maybe he will be rewarded on his Planet Kolob - and placed in the highest region of heaven for his "acts" of kindness and compassion.

      Obama Doesn't?

Who can forget Obama's sudden "Evolution" on same sex marriage?

How about how Obama changed his position on the No Fly Zone in Libya after a Joint resolution was passed in the U.N.?

How about Obama's Flip Flop on closing Gitmo, and Bringing the Terrorists to New York to be tried?

It was a Spontaneous protest that lead to the Attack on our Libyan embassy, Oh wait it was a terrorist attack, oh wait we'll get back to you once the investigation is complete.

I wont use "Executive Privilege" to protect my administration. Obama uses executive privilege to Protect Holder from the Fast and Furious scandal the day Holder was being voted on for contempt of congress even though Obama had how long to declare "Executive Privilege"?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." -Barrack Obama, Senate Floor speech, March 20, 2006.

So now that Obama is the President it's not a "Failure in Leadership" when they had to raise the dept ceiling in 2011 and will have to again in 2013 because we are about to hit it again?

Isn't it amazing how things change in an election year?

      http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/08/flashback-obamaryan-exchange-foreshadows-current-132202.html

"There is a political vulnerability to doing anything that tinkers with Medicare," Obama said, referring to Ryan's proposal to make Medicare into a voucher system for future retirees.

      He continued:

"We're not going to be able to do anything about any of these entitlements if what we do is characterize whatever proposals are put out there as 'well, the other party's being irresponsible. The other party is trying to hurt our senior citizens,'" Obama said.

"If we're gonna frame these debates in ways that allow us to solve them, then we can't start off by figuring out a.) who's to blame and b.) how can we make the American people afraid of the other side?" Obama said.

And don't forget free phones dal. I know he didn't start it but, you have to admit, even his praisers are calling them Obama phones.

And by the way. If the participation rate was the same today as it was after July 2010 when we had peaked at 8.8 million jobs lost and the supposed recovery started, the UE rate would be 9.7-9.8 percent. Gotta love how that "less people looking" works for the liberal agenda.

I hear Odumbasses drones are saying its not fair that the bumbler in chief can't use his teleprompter at the debates. Funny as hell. The debate finally made it clear that he and his cronies have NO idea at all about what to do for this country. It was really refreshing to see him actually have to try to *think* instead of speak in soundbites from a teleprompter. Proof of his incompetence, and his utter cluelessness.

Did Sean Hannity tell you that?

I will say that I was very impressed with Mitt's ability to say totally opposite things over and over and actually appear to look like he meant them.

I mean, at one point in the debate he said that the tax burden on the wealthy would not come down. And then later he said the tax burden on the wealthy HAD TO COME DOWN, because they are the job creators. And even tough those positions are opposites, he said each as if he believed it.

No, JoePhilly. I actually watched the debate. It was kind of one-sided though. I would have felt sorry for Odumbo if he hadn't proven his incompetence over the last four years. But in doing that, he's cost ALL OF US money, prestige with other countries, jobs, and by far the worst, American lives. Of course to him, they were just "bumps in the road." I mean, what are a few American lives when you've got hope and change?

Mitt already got personal in Florida when he told his $50,000 a plate pals what he really thinks. Paul Ryan may have gotten hung up on an adolescent infatuation with Ayn Rand, but Mitt evidently did the same with A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift. You like Big Bird? Why don't YOU pay for Big Bird? Sesame Street makes millions and millions from selling your little tykes all sorts of merchandise. Can't they pay their own bills? Can't MSNBC or NBC or ABC pony up to put them in the line-up if SS is so valuable?

In fact, I'll agree to fund PBS again as soon as all our national bills are paid and we don't have to borrow 40 cents out of every dollar. How's that?

Should we borrow money from China? Should we put our kid's and grandkid's in debt to fund public television? As a nation, should we put a lobster dinner on the credit card when we can't pay the rent?

George and Dick thought it was ok to borrow to pay for two wars and an unfunded drug rebate plan as well as give them and all their cronies a big tax break unfunded. They knew they were on their way out and they didin't care who got stuck with it. PBS is 1/25th of one percent of the total budget. It doesn't even compare to the Republican bridges to nowhere.

"season packing a town square to hear his retooled stump speech, which now highlights the sometimes-rigid candidate's personal side."

More examples of how (MS)NBC (GE/Comcast) is still hard at work trying to drive up Romney's negatives. In the first paragraph we get references to "retooled-stump speech" and "rigid-candidate" as descriptions of Romney. MSNBC should teach their journalists is to leave personal opinions OUT of reporting news. Who looks "stiff" is purely subjective but does help promote the picture MSM has been painting of the Romney they want people to see. Who looked stiff Wed night in the debate? For the first time Romney could speak directly to the public and he didn't look so stiff. He looked actually genuine. Actually Obama looked lost without his teleprompt. Without the the propaganda arm of the Obama campaign to paint their competitor in a negative light, Romney is neither stiff nor is his stump speech retooled as if anything added new in a speech is a "retooling" of his "stump" speech. I can gaurantee you this, after that Obamarama debacle that was Wed night, the only person getting seriously "retooled" is the president. But you will never hear that portrayed by the MSM like MSNBC that way.

More evidence that Romney will say anything and use anyone to win - he simply cares about nothing except winning/getting power. This is the last item he wants to add to his CV.

The only time he has been honest during this campaign was when he didn't know he as being taped and made that outrageous comment about not caring about 47% of Americans.

Then he was promising tax cuts to his fellow 1%-er's; now he says he won't raise taxes on them at all. He forgets we live in the internet age when people who want to take the trouble to fact-check him can do so.

He was a moderate before he was "severely conservative; now he is abandoning the conservative principles he pretended to believe in, because now his goal is to "get 50.1%." That is ALL he cares about, and he will lie and buy his way to the White House, if he's not stopped.

Ame Obamacare FLIP FLIP ROMNEY loves. LOL

      1. It's a tax! There wasn't much for Republicans to love in the Supreme Court's ruling that Obamacare is constitutional, except that they concluded the individual mandate is, for constitutional purposes (but not for others), a tax. The soundbites write themselves. Republicans can now brand Obama as raising taxes on the middle class, or, if they're feeling particularly blustery, "the biggest tax increase in the history of the world." But ABC News' Michael Falcone pulls up video from a January 2008 Republican presidential primary debate in which Romney seems to think such a tax is pretty great. When the debate moderator asks, "Governor … you imposed tax penalties in Massachusetts?" Romney defends the mandate by framing it terms of personal responsibility. "Yes, we said, look, if people can afford to buy it, either buy the insurance or pay your own way," he said. "Don’t be free-riders."

RELATED: Spin Guide: Romney Pledges to Repeal, Obama Says Families Should Celebrate

      video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

RELATED: A Promise to Blow Away Obamacare

      2. It's "ultimate conservatism." In 2007, Romney said that when the uninsured show up in emergency rooms and get free health care, that's a "form of socialism." By contrast, his health care law was conservative and inspired by the Heritage Foundation, something that is true and that the Heritage Foundation would probably like people to forget.

RELATED: Romney Was Once Proud to Be a Washington Insider

RELATED: The New Romneycare Is Very Different from the Old Romneycare

Romney said a version of this multiple times. In January 2008, he told Fox News Sunday, "I think it's the ultimate conservative plan." Last year, Romney also said his law was based on "fundamentally a conservative principle."

      3. It's a good national model. Romney boasted that Congress and the President could learn a lot about health care reform from his Massachusetts plan during an interview with CNN in 2009, "I think there are a number of features in the Massachusetts plan that could inform Washington on ways to improve health care for all Americans," he said "The fact that we were able to get people insured without a government option is a model I think they can learn from." Start at 1:05 and note the lack of concern about constitutional issues.

      4. It's humane. When Romney left office in 2007, his staff erased his office's emails from a server computer in an attempt to wipe them from the public record. But earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal found a few survivors, including Romney's own early drafts of his April 2006 Journal op-ed about the passage of Romneycare. Romney used language that would surely irritate many conservatives, and it was toned down when eventually published. Nevertheless, Romney's original thoughts are preserved forever:

Some of my libertarian friends balk at an individual mandate. But is it libertarian to insist that government pick up the tab for those without insurance or means to pay? An uninsured libertarian might counter that he could refuse the free care, but under law, that is impossible — and inhumane.

The Mormon Church has bragged the Book of Mormon is “the most correct book on the face of the earth”. Those words were uttered for the first time by none other than Joseph Smith himself on Sunday, October 28, 1841.

I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.

Oh, he "CLAIMED" that he "translated" it from the so called "GOLDEN PLATES" that he "discovered"somewhere back east, when in reality he made the whole thing up! The Mormons only use the Bible as a "referance to the Book of Mormon", they DO NOT really believe in it. After all.. THEY ARE MORMONS, not CHRISTIANS.

Blueinut 49:#22.2 Please sit down and write me a Book with these stipulations. That's what I thought !!!!!! I would bet that you have never even read the Book of Mormon or know of its contents. Ready, set, go, your 80 days has started.

Here are just some of the facts and conditions that would have to be complied with in order for you or someone else to produce a book similar to The Book of Mormon. Following didn't space right. Sorry.

            1. You must be between in your early 20's.
            2. You can have only three years of schooling in your life.
            3. Whatever you write must be what you now know; no research can be done.
            4. You must write a book with 239 chapters; 54 of them about wars, 21 about history,
55 about prophecy, 71 about doctrine, 17 about missionaries, and 21 about the
              mission of Jesus Christ.
            5. You must write a history of an ancient country, covering a period from 600 BC to
              421 AD.
            6. You must describe the religious, economic, social and political cultures and
              institutions of two separate nations.
            7. You must include the religion of Jesus Christ and the pattern of Christian living.
            8. When you start your record, covering a period of over 1,000 years, you must finish
              in approximately 80 days.
            9. After pauses for sleep and food, if you are dictating to a stenographer, you must
never ask to have the last paragraph or last sentence read back to you.
            10. Your record must be about 522 pages, with over 510 words per page. You must add 180
proper nouns to the English language. William Shakespeare added only 30.
            11. In fact-content, it must fulfill the Bible prophecies: even in the exact manner in
which it shall come forth, to whom given, and its purposes and accomplishments.
            12. You must publish it to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, declaring it to
              be the Word of God.
            13. You must include with the record itself, this marvelous promise: "And when ye shall
receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal
Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall
ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, He will
manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost."
            14. Hundreds of thousands must bear record to the world for the next 182 years that they
know the record to be true. Because they put the "promise" to the test and
found it to be true, the truth is manifested to them by the power of the Holy
              Ghost.
            15. Thousands of great men and women, intellectual giants and scholars must subscribe
discipleship to the record and its movement.
            16. Your descriptions of the cultures in these civilizations are not known when you
              publish your manuscript.
            17. You must invite scholars and experts to examine the text. You must see that your book gets into the hands of those who want to prove it a forgery and are most competent to expose
              any flaw.
            18. Thorough investigation, scientific evidence and archaeological discoveries for the next
182 years support the details of your history.
            19. Prophecies must be confirmed and fulfilled.
            20. Three credible witnesses must testify to the whole world that an angel from heaven

jacksonhole-- I HAVE read the Book of Mormon, having been raised in that religion. I just chose not to believe it, when I reached the age of SANITY, you see being a Mormon did ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING for me, and it TORE MY FAMILY APART! But you go right on ahead and believe the B.S. propaganda that they teach about that, LYING, CHEATING, FELON, that you all call a "PROPHET", if it makes you feel better!

Buybull, Book of Morons, & Duh'ran etc...(Bible, book of mormon, & qu'ran etc) all piles of poo if you ask me. All of it is junk, and not one bit of it is believable over the others. You give me some unbelievable junk from one, and I can find just as much offensive junk in another. I'm SICK OF HEARING ABOUT RELIGION.

The die hard christian republicans already weren't chomping at the bit for mitt, I don't think you need to remind them...although hearing that mitt in his adult life was part of an officially racist organization might get more white power people to go and vote.

Note the dismissive sarcasm in the tone of the author. Note the rabid hate in the tone of most of the comments by the useful idiots. The Democrat Party has been completely taken over by the leftists and communists. Can anybody imagine Harry Truman or JFK running for president in 2012. They would be tared and feathered by these kooks.

              @Ves,

Can you imagine anyone like Ronald Reagan running for President in 2012?

He would refuse to sign the "Norquist Pledge" - and would not pass the Tea Party "Purity Test".

He would be tarred and feathered by these kooks.

Vesigoth, you're right that hatred and sarcasm aren't really informative. All they tell us is what the writer is thinking, and most of those thoughts are pretty primitive. However:

              (1) Given some stupidity on the left, the greatest amount of almost clinical-level hatred comes from the right wing. I guess MSNBC has Rachel Maddow, but she's not one tenth as vicious as Rush Limbaugh who markets, not policy, but outrage. The left has no equivalent of Rupert Murdoch.

              (2) You're absolutely wrong about the Democratic party (you meant "Democrat party", I'm sure) being taken over by leftists and communists. Most of the Dems have lately been left of center but they're a diverse group in a way the GOP is not. Show me where Stalin is buried and I'll show you a communist plot.

              (3) Either Truman or Kennedy would do quite well today, whereas Ronald Reagan -- who raised taxes twice, appointed a moderate to the Supreme Court, and wanted to rid the world of all its nukes, including ours -- would today be cast out as a RINO. Ask Olympia Snowe why she resigned from the Senate a few months ago. She was a moderate and the party had shifted out from under her feet.

              (4) You want evidence of this? Google Rosenthal and Poole's scientific study of polarization in the legislature. The Republicans have moved roughly six times more to the conservative side as Democrats have move to the progressive end of the spectrum. That's not an opinion. It's a study done by two disinterested political scientists.

              (5) You want to see how much damage can be done when a democracy turns into a plutocracy? Put Romney (a nobody) and Ryan (an Ayn Rand objectivist and idolator) into power and give the legislature to the Tea Party. Romney will have to sign whatever they put in front of him or face a primary challenge in 2016. You have no idea how bad it can get -- for people like us, not people like Jack Welsh.

              Maxwell,

Intelligent, coherent, and true. Unfortunately, your post is way over the heads of the average Romney supporter. Sad...

Interesting new stump speech that Gov. Romney has rolled out.

Easy to describe the true tales of courage that he's been involved with.

Difficult to discuss the tall tales that he's been telling to the American People.

LOL. Yes Romney is now a traveler spinning his tales for his supper. Easier to talk about tall tales than discuss the view of the economy he had. Maybe he will do arts and crafts next.

              @Joe,

              e

"Work for it or do without... let's put the able bodied people back to work".

Really? What about the able bodied folks who worked all their lives to collect those benefits promised to them?

Do you want to put them BACK to work?

What about the not so able bodied folks who are born that way (like a child born with Multiple Sclerosis) or get that way (like a returning Soldier wounded in combat)?

              What about them?

              Hey Joe,

How do you know who is able to work and who don't work in this country !!!

The reason that Bush is still in the lime light is that he created the economic environment in this country that put alot of those people on welfare.

Joe, you are obviously challenged when trying to think for yourself. The Robme/Retardican spin is just not based on facts or reality. Step back and ask yourself if putting a rich, spoiled, out of touch, representative of the obscenely rich prick in office is really going to be better for you. If you think Robme is a good guy, just look at his life and record, he is a professional liar and greedy business man trying to come off in sheep's clothing.
