Obama is benefiting from the perception that the economy is improving. Forty-four percent expect the economy to improve in the next year. That’s an increase of two points from the last NBC/WSJ survey, released two weeks ago. In fact, the percentage of Americans believing the economy will get better is up eight points since August and 17 points since July.
The Obama Boom is finally here...great news. There should have never been any doubt about the right direction for the country.
What's disturbing is the fact that those who have benefitted most from all the Obama bailouts and other stimulus programs have been anti-Obama, biting the hands that feed them.
But the election is not up to these ungrateful conservative rich people, it's We The People that will make their voice heard on November 6.
HA.......it DOES matter. You need to see Joe Scareborough this morning to know the impact of this. Happy to see guys back to work...... I doubt if the right is happy though.
You know the more things change the more they stay the same. I've said that this Administration is simply a continuation of the fiscal recklessness of the Bush years. Now, just on time they come with an unemployment figure that shows positive indications based primarily on the Household Survey. Now where have I heard that story before? .....
Politicians like to cherry-pick statistics that best fit their political agenda. When it comes to the current jobs situation, however, the Bush administration is out of luck.
Two government surveys measure employment. The payroll survey collects data from 400,000 employers and is the source of the official employment figures that are reported at the beginning of each month. The household survey, as its name suggests, collects its data from about 60,000 households. Both paint the picture of a recovery with the worst job creation record since the end of World War II.
The administration wants the public to believe the economy is strong and jobs are being created. So it has tried to muddy the issue by highlighting the slightly better trends in the household survey since the beginning of the recovery in November 2001.
Its argument is simply bad economics. Nonpartisan experts including the Bureau of Labor Statistics (the people who compile both sets of numbers), the Congressional Budget Office and the President’s Council of Economic Advisers are unanimous that the payroll survey provides the better measure of employment trends. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan concurs. He testified before the Senate Banking Committee on Feb. 12 that “the payroll series is the more accurate number.”
The payroll survey is better because it is much larger, it is checked annually against unemployment insurance tax records (in contrast to every 10 years for the household survey) and it is less likely to be subject to large revisions or misreporting. The payroll survey shows that employment has fallen by 718,000 since the recovery began. Michigan alone lost 2.7 percent of its jobs in this “recovery.”
The claim that employment is at a record high is cherry-picking at its most blatant, an attempt to find improvements that are simply not there. Yes, the number of working people has grown, but population has grown faster. In fact, employment has grown only half as fast as what’s needed just to keep even with population growth.
Former GE CEO Jack Welch tweeted: "Unbelievable jobs numbers…these Chicago guys will do anything. Can't debate so change numbers."
For the record, career professionals at the Bureau of Labor Statistics come up with the monthly jobs report in total secrecy, walled off from all political staff.
You need to see Joe Scareborough this morning to know the impact of this.
Fascinating...in the Republican Universe, asking Mr. Romney and Congressman Ryan to explain what loopholes they are going to close and how the math works out to keep their proposed tax cuts for the super-rich is considered mundane and wonkish.
Come out with new jobs numbers and THEN they're concerned about how the math works?
But can you blame the President for gas prices, I thought conervatives believe in the market. Let me tell you an inconvenient truth - it's the market controlled by corporations that has distorted the market and gas prices.
Not only can the corporations make more obscene profits by distorting gas prices, but also can they blame on the President who has done nothing by being a friend to these corporations but has been victimized by corporate conspiracy.
No govt. sets price of crude oil rather, OPEC does, event of the day not just here but in the GOLF region does and Speculators on WS aid them. You need to read and understand how oil is priced and what affect the pricing daily. Just READ.
For the record, career professionals at the Bureau of Labor Statistics come up with the monthly jobs report in total secrecy, walled off from all political staff.
No wonder President Obama was smiling during the debate while MITTWITT spouted off
So if the career professionals come up with the report in total secrecy and are walled off, how did the President know the contents of their report?
Obama is benefiting from the perception that the economy is improving.
The operative word is perception.
How sad is it that Obama's only chance for re-election are perceptions based on manipulated numbers, the appearance of being competent and empty rhetoric ... not a his actual record ... not reality?
There have been 10 recessions before this one since the Great Depression. This is the worst recovery by far. In fact if you took just the average performance of the previous 10, there would have been an additional 7.1 million jobs created. (Investor's Business Daily)
For the FRools, that would suggest Obama was handed a deeper recession, historical fact always points to above average, much more robust recoveries. (For Seeping, that means Obama's performance if even much worse.)
We should have another 7 million employed and libs are wetting themselves in excitement over 114,000 this month .... 5 1/2 YEARS AFTER THE RECESSION STARTED!
Lean forward msnbc ... yeah, libs and msnbc are pretty much like slinkies .... that aren't worth much but they do bring a smile when they they are leaned forward at the top of stairs.
Btw - About that lean forward crap ... if Obama and libs are always talking about forward, why do they always start and end every conversation with Bush 4 years ago?
Cantor told the audience of speculators that his Republican caucus would "do our part" to block the implementation of financial reforms passed last year as part of the sweeping Dodd-Frank law. He even called out the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the regulators in charge of overseeing derivatives and energy speculation, and promised to stop regulations from going online:
CANTOR: And you've managed to be able to serve that function in the CME Group for so much of this country and the world, and you've also managed to position as a true world leader. We want that in every arena. We want to help you continue to lead for America, that means we gotta do our part when you see the implementation of Dodd-Frank coming at you like a barreling train. We want to help control that so that we can get some sensible, sensible follow up to that legislation. [...] Whether it's the EPA, the FDA, the FCC, the SEC, the CFTC, you name it, there is an acronym for a federal agency causing harm right now. We're trying to pull that in.
It would be improving even faster if Republicans would abandon their "make OBAMA fail" strategy.
We needed a 2nd round of stimulus to keep economy growing at 3% + after 1st stimulus had run its course in 2 years. We had high levels of consumer debt and a housing industry operating at below 40% capacity. These are structural problems which any economist will tell you take a longer time to fix.
You have been cheering along with the "make Obama fail" crowd so long, that you cannot even take any joy in an improving economy.
Tell me then Noid, why was the market price under $2 a gallon about 4 years ago?
$5.00 gas - Let's not forget about that "Large Oil Spill in the Gulf", Refinery Fires that slowed production, Oh and that little issue of a country in the Middle East that is trying to get a "Nuclear Weapon" does that at all ring a bell. That is only part of what is driving the gas prices up.
Oh and lets not forget whos' side the oil companies are on!!
Oh, goodie! First it was supposed to be here this past spring. Then you and Spanky PROMISED us it would be here for Memorial Day. Then it was absolutely going to be here for the pre-Labor Day-end-of-summer travel burst. Now it's October 5th and in all that time I still only paid over $4.00 once, maybe back in April. When it went DOWN by about 65 cents a gallon a few months back, I must have missed your praising the President for whatever he did to drive it down that far. Must have been the week I was in Florida, where it was even lower than that. Could you maybe re-post those comments? Thanks!
Please watch Joe this morning. The guy was having a nervous break down because of the unemployment rate. They didn't see it coming. Gosh.......Arithmetic is beyond these goons.
Only to the Liberals here at First Read that think 7.8% unemployment is good news.
and only to those (who want Obama to look bad because that's 1 out of 2 ways a Republican could win the election) it is not. Shrinking unemployment is not a good news, really?
The rest of the country has been buried under Obama's "New Normal"
what does that even mean? Are you comparing it to Romney's Parallel Universe Normal?
$5 gas is just around the corner!
then you need to be for the government takeover of what is now a private oil industry. This way the government can dictate the price. Or we should bomb all the other countries that are willing to pay more for oil than we do. Once we eliminate all competition, we can bring prices down. Are you for either scenario? If not, STFU about the gas prices.

Perhaps if we stopped printing a trillion dollars a year (the currency oil is traded in) to cover our deficit, asset inflation would not occur.
just24 - Joe has been having a rough time since the Presidential campaign began. He's basically said Romney is a loser. The best was the day he watched Romney try to rally a crowd with "Romney! Ryan!" and the crowd didn't respond. Joe said "sweet Jesus" and put his head in his hands.
He doesn't have a high regard for the Republican slate!
just24: No govt. sets price of crude oil rather, OPEC does,
Funny that the "governements" of OPEC actually set the price and btw - the United States has more fossil resources than all of OPEC COMBINED!
Too bad we have an asinine energy policy that rejects that fact, huh?
You cannot be so obtuse as to not recognize that the energy policies of the richest country in fossil energy on the planet cannot effect prices .... can you?
shaak: The economy is improving.
114,000 jobs doesn't even keep up with the number of new people joining the job maket ... what a moronic statement.
Funny that you couldn't refute that this is the worst recovery in history .. that it is far below average - just as Obama is a far below average president.
Two days after the president gave a pathetic, weak and shallow debate appearance, the government comes out with a 7.8% unemployment figure. Does anyone see the irony in this? The president blows it big time and was ducking for cover, spreading the same lies about Romney on Thursday and again on Friday... and this little gem of a statistic is dropped like a care package from the sky.
If for one moment you believe the numbers weren't cooked, you are as stupid as Obama wants you to be. Who has direct access to the offices that come up with the figures? It isn't me.
Funny, when Obama needs something to turn everyone's eyes away from his debate performance, he can cook it up mighty fast.
How about those gas prices in California? That state is in real trouble... Liberals running amok.
The jobs number will be lost in more pressing weekend news -- like the price of gas. That's a much hotter topic on my feeds. Regardless of who/why the gas price is high, it has an emotional impact. And that impact is greater than the emotional impact of an improving jobs report.
Stop the crazy talk. 7.8% rate is so bitter a pill for you guys to swallow. Just close you eyes, hold your nose and GULP it. It's real....7.8% jobless rate is real.
Former George W. Bush spokesman Tony Fratto added this:
Fratto went on to explain the reason why jobs numbers get revised: “BLS benchmark revisions come from actual state unemployment benefits rolls & businesses reporting to state tax authorities.”
For the record, career professionals at the Bureau of Labor Statistics come up with the monthly jobs report in total secrecy, walled off from all political staff
He also tweeted it would be a scandal of enormous proportions if that happened.
correction to #1.15 about Corporations distorting markets and gas prices
'Not only can the corporations make more obscene profits by distorting gas prices, but also can they blame on the President who has done nothing by but being a friend to these corporations but has been victimized by corporate conspiracy.'
What??? I thought the recession started 31/2 years ago. Did you not get the talking points?
FYI - The recession started in December 2007, peaked in September 2008 and officially ended in June 2009 .... before any Obama policy had time to make any difference.
The last 3 1/2 years has been officially ... a recovery .... a recovery with many economic factors, (such as the drop in middle class income) - that is worse than the actual recession.
Mighty Joe Dumb was speaking yesterday in Iowa when he came out with this gem:
"On top of the trillions of dollars of spending that we have already cut, we’re gonna ask – yes – we’re gonna ask the wealthy to pay more," said Biden. "My heart breaks, come on man. You know the phrase they always use? Obama and Biden want to raise taxes by a trillion dollars. Guess what? Yes we do in one regard. We want to let that trillion dollar tax cut expire so the middle class doesn’t have to bear the burden of all that money going to the super wealthy. That’s not a tax raise, that’s called fairness where I come from."
Mighty Joe Dumb strikes again!! Is this guy for real democrats? Doesn't he know when NOT to say something? I can't believe he's second in line for the POTUS... and the idiot liberals that put him in there want him for another 4 years... That's as bad as wanting Obama for another 4 years so he can lie his way through making you feel sorry for him.
I can't WAIT for the vice presidential debate next week. They'll be carrying Joe out in a straight jacket.
WCA doesn't follow all that.......naaa. He's not meant to THINK. He reads and repeats the script handed him very strictly.
I think he does follow it. He just hopes that by cherry picking information he can convince low information posters that oil prices are influenced by the United States government only. And I am not saying that policies, regulations, taxes etc don't have some effect on prices (cents up or down) but the real indicators are things like GLOBAL supply & demand, GLOBAL financial crisis, GLOBAL credit crisis, etc. We don't live in a bubble, and we no longer have the buyer barganing power to drive prices down.
Don't worry America, the price of your precious gallon of gasoline will come down when the rest of the world drives around on alternate energies. Every chemist I have met considers oil used as energy to be a waste of an incredible resource needed for many other applications.
Btw - About that lean forward crap ... if Obama and libs are always talking about forward, why do they always start and end every conversation with Bush 4 years ago?
Despite the numbers looking a bit odd and not synching up perfectly, I do NOT believe the numbers were manipulated. Any time you conduct surveys, you are going to have margins of error and statistical noise. That is why most economists tell you to focus on long term trends as opposed to monthly movements. And I think that the long term trend has been slow improvement.
From NBCNEWS:
Ashworth noted that the unemployment rate has fallen by half a percentage point in the last two months, from 8.3 percent to 7.8 percent. But the unemployment rate was also at 8.3 percent in January, and it is down from 9 percent a year earlier. He said it’s not uncommon for job market data to move out of step with other economic data.
In a research note, economist Dean Baker with the liberal-leaning Center for Economic and Policy Research noted that it’s common to have big monthly swings in the employment data, and said the September report may well be a statistical fluke.
“Still,” he added, “this month’s numbers almost certainly indicate that the unemployment rate is moving downward, even if the speed is considerably slower than the latest data indicate.”
Oscar...I agree...the most troubling number is that the Labor Participation Rate still seems stuck near their lowest points in a long long time. I'd really like to see that number start moving upward more quickly.
How about those gas prices in California? That state is in real trouble... Liberals running amok.
You mean gasoline refinaries are liberal???
You never fail to give me a chuckle with your ignorance Brianb
Calif. gas prices jump by up to 20 cents overnight, analysts say spike in may last awhile - The Washington Post
Do you think I meant that the state is in trouble because of the rising gas prices? The state is in real trouble is an independent thought. They have an enormous debt problem... unrelated to gas prices going up. Tell me screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeminglib, what will happen to this country if California goes bankrupt? Maybe it's time the uber rich liberal actors there all pitch in and pay their fair share to bail out the state.
The last 3 1/2 years has been officially ... a recovery .... a recovery with many economic factors, (such as the drop in middle class income) - that is worse than the actual recession.
Europe is a big investor in the United States, and vice versa. The EU is, collectively, the world's biggest economy, second-biggest exporter and second-biggest importer. When Europe is not healthy, it affects the US. So, the US recession may be over but the global recession -especially in Europe - is still ongoing, and it affects our economy greatly.
Why do you ask Mickey? Do you have one to offer me? If not, then don't worry about me... I'll be here to piss you off on a daily basis anyway. Stick that in your huge ears to block the imaginary voices.
Just24.....if that is your age you are a very perceptive poster.
I agree with you on Joe S....stunned doesn't begin to describe his reaction. It is not often Joe is at a loss for words, but this morning was one of them. He's probably glad its Friday so he doesn't have to explain/spin this good news.
Jack Welsh, former CEO of GE, should be ashamed of himself for the tweet he sent out this morning. These rich republicans do not know how to do or say anything good about good trends in the country. One would think they'd be happy with any good news, they are all doing well with corporate profits sky high, the stock market doubled since the Pres took office and taxes as low as they are. One has to ask, what is their problem. I think I know the answer to that question and I hate to break it to them but 2016 is there next best shot.
FR. with all due respect, that is a really dumb question. Everyone in the media and the campaigns have been saying this election is all about the economy. Your own Chuck Todd, whenever asked about details in the polls, always, always come back to....its really about the economy. So come on now, dont pull a Romney on us and try to change the theme. Be true to yourselves
Stop the crazy talk. 7.8% rate is so bitter a pill for you guys to swallow. Just close you eyes, hold your nose andGULP it. It's real....7.8% jobless rate is real.
Another deceived person. The number is what the government wants you to think is real. Just wait until the report comes out that says that the workforce dropped because of retirements, people who stopped looking for work and those underemployed.
The interesting thing is whether or not there will be some sort of statistical correction next month and how the campaigns will react to it. Economists forecasted an addition of 115k jobs, which turned out to be a pretty darned good estimate, only missing by about 1,000. However, they predicted the unemployment rate to tick up to 8.2, with a range of 8.0-8.3. That is a pretty big miss from the 7.8% that was released. As any statistician will tell you there will always be statistical noise from month to month. I think it is entirely possible that next month's number may tick up to 8.0%. The long term trend is a good one (slow, but in the right direction), but the monthly numbers will jump up and down...and now they are jumping around the all important 8.0% mark. Hypothetically, if the rate were to jump to 8% or above next month (a mere 4 days before the election), what do you all think the reaction would be?
Edited to add my thought here: The President is saying that the number going below 8% is showing that his policies are working and we shouldn't change course now. I think that is a potentially dangerous statement to make based on one month's numbers...because if next month it ticks the other way, does that mean the opposite? Just my thoughts here and I'm curious as to the thoughts of others.
You cannot be so obtuse as to not recognize that the energy policies of the richest country in fossil energy on the planet cannot effect prices .... can you?
Oil and gas prices have almost nothing to do with economic fundamentals such as supply & demand because the supply of oil and gasoline is higher today than it was almost 4 years ago, when the national average for a gallon of gasoline was just $1.90. Meanwhile, the demand for oil in the U.S. is at its lowest since 1997.
If for one moment you believe the numbers weren't cooked,
Here's a novel thought, why don't you & the rest of your paranoid pals show us some PROOF?
It really isn't a good idea for people who already have ZERO credibility to be spreading Reich wing propaganda!
Put up or STFU!
Stop the crazy talk
Sorry Just24 - without the crazy talk, little BB wouldn't have anything to say! ;o)
Sounds to me like Red Betty has not gotten over the piss poor debate Obama had the other night. She stayed off the boards yesterday because she knew she'd be getting beaten up all day long if she stuck around. I'm sure she was there, reading the comments, but never bothering to offer any excuses for Obama... She ran like a scared child.
Betty is exactly what the Obama clan is looking for... a gullible liberal that will believe anything Obama says, falling right in line. They have brainwashed her to hate anything conservative or anyone who supports free enterprise and capitalism. I'm sure she even volunteered to take classes on conservative hatred. They taught her that everything Obama says is the absolute truth and she needs to defend it, even to the point of calling those that disagree with him - names. That is the reason for your suspension from First Read, isn't it Betty? You took a bullet for your master Obama. How loyal, what a good soldier you are.
While you believe EVERYTHING Obama says, and trust his administration with your life, I don't. It is way too convenient for the government he controls to support him. Unfortunately there are thinking people out here that can see past the BS they are tossing. You thrive in that BS and enjoy getting it all over you... Even though it stinks, is messy, sticks to your clothing and skin, you love it.
These progressives are beyond parody! The most anemic economic recovery from a recession since WW2 is great news , and a 7.8% unemployment rate is a boom!
This was the deepest recession by double (-9% GDP) since the Great Depression and twice the depth as the 1980 recession with only 1/3 the manufacturing and export base of 1980 that would help rebuild our economy.
These progressives are beyond parody! The most anemic economic recovery from a recession since WW2 is great news , and a 7.8% unemployment rate is a boom!
[Why do you ask Mickey? Do you have one to offer me? If not, then don't worry about me...]
Actually, Brian...funny you should ask...I personally don't have one to offer you (I'm not a "job creator" like Spanky) but I may be able to help you.
And yes, I am worried about you...you seem a bit...unhinged...lately...what gives? I hope it's not the prospect of a brighter future for you and your family, because we all know you'd HATE that, right Brian?
You of ALL people, should be crossing every body part that's long enough to reach another body part that this @!$%# that we have been trudging through for the past 5 years or so may finally be turning around...but somehow all you see is something negative where there is a positive.
You know, there's a old saying:
Optimists see the glass as half-full;
Pessimists see the glass as half-empty;
But an engineer sees the glass as being half the size it needs to be.
She stayed off the boards yesterday because she knew she'd be getting beaten up all day long if she stuck around.
Again with the lies... eh BB? No lies... You parsed what I said. I also said that you were probably reading. You input one nasty post in the beginning of the day but shyed away from any rebuttals as per your usual.
I was right here all day long, but hey, thanks again for proving you could't tell the truth if I notarized your tongue! Can't help you with your weird fantasies queenie.
All I asked was for you to prove your accusation. What proof would you like? Convenience? Irregularity? The fact that Obama signs off on those numbers? What proof?
You're still incapable of answering a simple direct question, instead you gave us another worn out personal attack! lmao Personal attack? Whaaaaaaa. You're a big girl... telling me to STFU all the time... since when have you grown weak? Did I offend you? Hard to offend wood.
Have I mentioned how much joy it brings me watching your public meltdowns? Then you'd better keep looking for that joy. You haven't ever seen a meltdown from me. Sorry you can't comprehend when a person is enjoying what they write versus melting down.
Care for some *popcorn*? Not from you... I'm sure it's laced with poison.
You took a bullet for your master Obama.
I sure did! Hope it felt good for you... getting stuck with a hard metal object is something I'm sure you dream about on a nightly basis.
Did you happen to catch the welcome home I received? Posters I had never seen before extended their support and good wishes! I saw a bunch of liberals who are vying for your attention fawn over you. I didn't see any conservatives happy you were back... See we know the difference in people that are sincere and those that are fake.
Funny, no one even noticed when you were sent to the penalty box! lol I'm sure they didn't... because I've never been in the penalty box.
[Why do you ask Mickey? Do you have one to offer me? If not, then don't worry about me...]
Actually, Brian...funny you should ask...I personally don't have one to offer you (I'm not a "job creator" like Spanky) but I may be able to help you. Don't bother Mickey. Smartass answers from you only shows me how sincere you are.
And yes, I am worried about you...you seem a bit...unhinged...lately...what gives? I hope it's not the prospect of a brighter future for you and your family, because we all know you'd HATE that, right Brian? I see a much brighter future... when Obama leaves in January. In fact... I may even be visiting First Read less because things will become a lot better once he's gone... and I may even lose interest in coming here to watch the liberals complain all day long... The thought of that is rather unpleasant... can't stand people crying in their beer.
You of ALL people, should be crossing every body part that's long enough to reach another body part that this @!$%# that we have been trudging through for the past 5 years or so may finally be turning around...but somehow all you see is something negative where there is a positive. Actually, it will be ironic... When Romney wins, this economy will turn around and somehow the liberals will all say: See... things were getting better, why didn't people see this so we could keep Obama. If Obama wins, we will be in deep crap and things will become exponentially worse. I know you don't have the capacity to understand that, but that's really not my problem.
Maybe it's time the uber rich liberal actors there all pitch in and pay their fair share to bail out the state.
Yea!!! I FINALLY agree with you.
Youve just made the point most liberals have been saying for years ie the uber rich (actors and others) SHOULD pay their fair share
I was being very specific... and the reason for that is because you haven't seen ONE actor step up to the plate to offer their money to the cause. All you hear is liberals complain... but not one liberal offer to help. Catch the hypocracy?
Frank Grimes - Good observations. I think you hit the right chord though, what is really important is the long term trend. You are not saying it, but many republicans continue to refuse to admit that economic conditions are getting better. First it was the financial markets, wall street, and housing prices that recovered. Now it has finally begun to get noticeably better on the employment side.
You are quite right that next month it may jump up to 8%, but by then I think people would understand that it would go up because of more job participation (a good thing). Also, with four days left I don't think it will affect the race. This job report however, Obama can use for one month, if numbers worsen slightly Romney will only have three days to gloat before election day.
Swing state early voting has already started.
Go Texas Rangers! :}

$5.00 gas woes...
WCA per ABC news there is a reason for the price spike. Looks like an act of God or negligience that led to the fire and an act of negligence for pipeline operators to invest in infrastructure repair.
____________
Recent refinery fires in the state and pipeline problems are the culprits behind the high prices that are causing California reserves to hit a 10-year low.
The national average is up to $3.78 per gallon, but prices are topping $4 a gallon in many states. In Washington State, residents are faced with an average price of $4.03. In the Northeast, those living in New York and Connecticut are paying an average of $4.10.
So by being specific do you mean you only want rich liberal actors from California to pay there fair share?? Do rich conservative actors from California get a pass?
[Don't bother Mickey. Smartass answers from you only shows me how sincere you are.]
So Brian, I'll take that as a "no"?
Ever look here in New York? Certain areas happen to be booming right now. You're in construction management or something, right? I've even contacted you a couple of times, but got no answer.
That's not going to happen again. Balls in your court now, Brian...time to put up or shut up...it all depends on how bad you want it. And as far as an "eeeeevil librul" like me hooking you up, I won't mention it if you won't.
All that's left to say is oh how far you have fallen, Brian...time to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get crankin'. But let me ask you...are you happy Brian? Are you happy coming here, day after day, poking fun and proving nothing? I can't see how you could be.
PS: It was the old BrianB who got the time out, not the new re-regged version you're posting under today! ;o)
The old BrianB was shut down completely by me because someone hacked my e-mail. Not once did that name get put into the penalty box... can you say the same? ROFL! Wonder who is more offensive to the readers? Maybe if you toned down your words, learned English and how to say things that are a little less offensive, you might not have to stay away from your favorite place in the world.
So by being specific do you mean you only want rich liberal actors from California to pay there fair share?? Do rich conservative actors from California get a pass?
Only the liberals. If they complain, they need to act.
[Don't bother Mickey. Smartass answers from you only shows me how sincere you are.]

I was born in New York. I don't want to go back there. The state taxes are horrendous. There's a reason I am in Florida. Besides, I will not join a union. I will stick to the south... have done that for 4 years travelling back and forth between Louisiana, Alabama and here.
Fallen? I know your history... I read what you write... I see how you respond.. I remember many insults thrown my way by you. I don't think you have changed your colors... I know how you respond in very personal ways towards other conservatives. I do come here for enjoyment. I really get a kick out of what people say and I like this format. Anything wrong with that?
Not once did that name get put into the penalty box...
Not sure where you got the impression anyone around here believes anything you have to say...
You & your multiple accounts have been caught in so many lies, it would fill a phone book!
Whatever makes you feel better I guess! lol
OK Queenie... show me where I've used my so called "Multiple" accounts at the same time. You haven't seen another account with my name on it since I closed the other account. Pony up... give me one thread where you've seen me use the other account with this one.
You lose. You can't and you won't.
LIes... that's all you liberals have... claiming we lie... Romney lies... Ryan lies... Brian lies... Do you even realize that this is like your racist remarks... totally put on ignore because we know that's a crutch you liberals HAVE to have to create validity in your own minds. There's no meaning in you saying someone lies... This is one lesson in life you will never learn. Don't repeat something over and over again because the meaning gets lost in your repetition. I'll tell you when I lie... and I have in the past... on purpose!
HAHA hilarious stuff. Lets see school started, crops are being harvested, football season, halloween, Thanksgiving around the corner, Christmas not far behind, people gearing up for the change of season, the markets double what they were when obumbler took office and we have something to cheer about. Realistically with the market numbers, seasonal hires, low interest rates companies should be hiring in droves. This number should be like 6% or as low as 4.5% without even breaking a sweat.
DF, while I love the squirrel reference, I believe that equating a jobs report and a Debate that was watched by some 65 million people is a bit of a stretch.
Doubt that 6 million heard and understood or cared about the jobs report.
Maybe Obama can come up with a TeeVee show to announce the number. Kind of like pulling the lottery balls out of the hopper.
Time will tell...and the teevee show exists. It is on every channel except the Cartoon Network, and it is called "the news", not to mention every website, blog and print medium. What is TODAY'S big news?...
Nah DF, a 20 second comment on non-cable TeeVee news ain't the same and you know it.
Numbers mean very little to folks who can't afford the gas it takes to get to the job they may have.
They mean even less to the folks who can't afford the gas to go out looking for a job.
BTW Today's big news in Detroit is that the Baseball playoffs start tomorrow and the Tigers play the A's.
I'm sure that in each locale, there is something going on that is much bigger than a random National number. As I have said before. It only effects those who are effected by not having a job.
If you have a job, you don't really care what the UE number is and that is apparently 92.2% of the country.
Well, if you really think that a debate (one of 3) trumps the unemployment rate dropping below 8%, when it has been a major talking point for both sides for the past 3 1/2 years...
(PBS will devote at least 15 minutes to it and that's all I watch)
Man, didn't Cabrerra have a YEAR? I sort of lean towards Trout as MVP, but the first triple crown since Yaz in 1967 is quite an accomplishment.
Image people, it is all about image. Not enough people have had a martini lunch with guys from the advertising department. Not enough? A good pair of shoes will get you past the receptionist.
An improved jobs report plus a better 2nd debate will push Obama forward. He's going to have to call Mitt out on his lies next time - something he didn't do in the first debate.
An improved jobs report plus a better 2nd debate will push Obama forward. He's going to have to call Mitt out on his lies next time - something he didn't do in the first debate
Sure, tell that to the folks that can not find work. Do you really think that we are at 7.8% is that equal to 25 million of the US workforce being out of work.
Obama, was never a good debater even if he is a great Orator. The race is getting tighter and tigther.
Only people like you SS, will keep idolizing Obama. I a cow took a dump on his head you would say it looked beautiful and it smell like perfume. Wake up, it was not the altitude nor Global warming that made Obama look so bad. Take a look at the new Polls, Especially Virgina and Colorado.
Mitt Romney "wiped the floor" with the SHAM-WOW salesman. Barack Hussein Obama !
Obama has been lying about Romney for quite some time, with no one from the lamestream media ever-challenging his assertions. Face to face with Romney, however, Obama folded like a cheap suit !
Time will tell if the jobs report numbers have been conveniently "massaged" for political purposes.
New Rasmussen polls yesterday show Democrats leading in Senate races they were supposed to lose. In AZ, MO and WI the Democratic senate candidates are ahead. And, the new poll shows Obama ahead in WI by 11 points.
Clearly people are looking past the debate and at the real issues. Plus, those people who have paid attention all along saw Mitt lying his a** off and knew he was lying!
And, yes, I know Rasmussen is not the best source but it's at least interesting to note.
A message from President Obama concerning Willard's stance on China.
“He's been talking tough on China. He says he's going to take the fight to them. He's going to go after these cheaters,” Obama said. “I've got to admit that message … is better than what he's actually done about this thing. It sounds better than talking about all the years he spent profiting from companies that sent our jobs to China.”Obama added: “When you hear this new found outrage, when you see these ads he's running promising to get tough on China, it feels a lot like that fox saying, ‘You know, we need more secure chicken coops.’”
Job1 obumbler has sent many jobs to china and he did it with your tax dollars. Several prominent companies moved many jobs to China and Mexica and then less than a month later recieved your tax dollars to help recoupe the costs. Not only does obama help companies moved jobs out of the country he uses tax dollars to help finance the moves.
The clever thing is the way these funding options are being dicussed, the jobs were moved offshore, and then the funds were alocated a month or so after the sites were operational. Brilliant eh. The mexico site is several city blocks and it has production and development. Hardly a small operation the facility look bigger than some of the Boeing sites here in the Seattle area.
It's not really hidden you read the CEO say they didn't do it. Then you read their previous 3 months of news releases prior to funding recieved. Not rocket science just the truth.
Of course it matters - had the unemployment rate gone up, we would've had the likes of John Sununu spewing hatred while privately relishing every uptick!
Now Ursula---Sununu doesn't need bad news for the President to spew his hatred and blow his dog whistles. He probably enjoys it more when he can add smug gloating to it but I don't think anything will stop him.
See, everybody? Lisa's far from being a loony left-wing libtard, yet she didn't have any problem giving the correct response here. It was honest and sincere and she left politics out of it completely.
We could have had this better employment picture a year ago if Republicans had not blocked a 2nd round of stimulus Obama proposed. We have lost nearly a year in speed of recovery because of Republican tactics. All those people out of work for another year. All those government costs of keeping the unemployed afloat. All those lost tax revenues from faster growth.
I am happy at the unemployment news, but I am angry that Republicans punished all of us for their own political ends. I think they have put Republican Party before America's best interests.
Republicans.....in Congress......Party before Country.
lisa---I always think that every month when the jobs report comes out---what a relief for the people who found jobs and I hope an encouragement to those who are still looking that things will work out for them. It is too easy to get wound up in the politics and forget that these are real people.
You know the little known fact that President Clinton touch on in his DNC speech about jobs that are available but not being filled due to the lack of qualified applicants? Yeah, Seems Mitt and friends don't seem to want to mention that little tid-bit. It just might screw up their education vouchers plan and prove the President's point on education.
Gee - JoAnne in PA - Maybe it's being called a Libtard??? If you starting acknowledging the positive that is going on in this country than your hatred will start to dissipate for this Administration. Stop your name calling have a logical and sound point of view that you can intelligently defend. Let's see if you can!
Self Educated - I believe Jo Anne in PA was explaining that Lisa is NOT a "libtard" as most of us - including JoAnne in PA have been called by the far-righties on this site. She wasn't putting Lisa down but really putting down those who use the stupid "libtard" name. It's pretty childish but it's all the far right has! JoAnne is a strong supporter of President Obama.
dangerfield - Thanks for the chuckle. I'm off now to work on dissipating my obvious hatred for this administration. Maybe I should start with my avatar? And apparently my grammar and syntax could use some work too.
Seeking - Thanks for explaining. From the Washington Post's annual contest to give new meanings to words by adding, subtracting or changing just one letter:
"Sarchasm: the gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the recipient who doesn't get it"
JoAnne in PA--wonderful--I love it! We can also add the Humpty Dumpty Rule--"a word means only what I mean it to, nothing more, nothing less!" Have a great weekend!

Fact is, compare ADPs numbers for the year to the numbers reported by the Governors.
Even compare ADPs number for this week to the numbers from the Governors and one quickly realizes that ADP is reporting a far better economy than the Governors are.
Why have Governors been under reporting the numbers for the past 18 months compared to ADP?
The jobs report just published seems to be the Labor Department is stepping into the political arena. If the rate came down by .3% (8.1 to 7.8) with only 114K jobs created, then the number of people who are no longer looking for work or have exhausted their unemployment benefits must have went up dramatically. Remember those no longer looking and those no longer drawing unemployment are not counted.
Also why doesn't Obama mention the unemployment among his strongest supporters, African-American and Hispanics. I believe the unemployment rate among African-Americans is around 14% and Hispanics around 11%.
BTW, the household survey, which was used by the Labor Department, is very volatile. Also remember, something the right should push, if those who have quit looking for work, those with part time jobs, and those under employed were counted the unemployment rate would be around 15%.
A rare banner day on the jobs front, at least at first glance. The official unemployment rate -- U-3 -- dropped below 8 percent to 7.8 and even our all-inclusive U-7 is down 0.08 percent -- to 16.87 percent. The most impressive numbers are in job creation as reported by the monthly survey of "establishments." While the 114,000 new jobs added in September is a modest figure, the upward revisions for July and August are substantial: 86,000 more jobs, or a bump of better than 30 percent. It's a good reminder not to take any given month's numbers too seriously. But it's a reminder in the right direction.
You can read the Bureau of Labor Statistics press release for yourself for more detail, but though I'm interviewing David Wessel this morning about his book on the budget -- "Red Ink" -- and therefore am pressed for time, I do want to add a note of caution about today's numbers. If the statistical sampling is trustworthy, 873,000 more Americans said they were employed in September than the month before. Great. But 600,000 of those seem to be part-timers, looking for full-time work. So today's story may be a surge in part-time work and remember: if you only worked one hour in the past week, you're counted as officially employed.
Dangerfield, Any survey, I don't care what it is, can be manipulated and numbers can be skewed to what ever one wants. I am glad that you admit the all-inclusive U-7 is still over 16%. Really don't hear Obama talk about that, or the high unemployment rate among his base (Hispanics, African-American, and young voters).
Have a good week end, I am leaving for Reno, NV to try my luck and watch the grandchildren test for their Black Belts in TaeKwonDo.
"Unemployment rate dips below 8%... Will it have an impact"
No because if you dig down into these Unemployment Numbers you will find that the unemployment is still a major issue in this economy. If you consider those who quit looking for work or are part time employees you get a far different picture of the "real" unemployment numbers
Two years of George Bush's policies resulted in stagnant wages for the middle income earners, while the rich got richer and richer. Now, Romney wants to return to those same policies, how does this make sense?
Ah yes, the ad hoc ergo proctor hoc fallacy. It happened, therefore, I caused it. The analogy is the rooster who crows as the sun is coming up, so he thinks that his crowing caused the sun to come up. An suitable metaphor for Obama.
Did anyone notice on Wednesday night how Obama tried to take credit for the increased US oil production over the last four years? He actually seemed to think that he had a point, until Romney reminded him that all of the increased production occurred on private lands, which Obama has little or no control over, and that his administration had actually cut the number of permits on public lands by 50%. The girls on "The View" would never have caught one.
Obama has made a habit of taking credit for good things that happen, and deflecting responsibility for bad things that happen. We had a lousy economy for three years, and it was all Bush's fault. Business picked up significantly in the first quarter of this year, and FINALLY, Obama's policies had begun to have an effect! Then, in Q2 of this year, the economy fell off again, and it was back to being all Bush's fault.
No one denies that Obama was dealt a tough hand, but after three years of high unemployment and stagnant economic growth, theye don't care who broke it, THEY WANT TO FIND A GUY THAT CAN FIX IT. After Obama's performance on Wednesday, it's hard to see him as that guy.
I'm sure glad the uber left got a little bit of not really horrible news today.
They were getting pretty desperate with their prez candidate falling down at the 1st debate and the vp candidate admitting the Big O has buried the middle class over the last 4 years.
I was concerned the suicide rate among the libs was about to skyrocket, just like the debt.
But it is still pretty amusing watching them go orgasmic and grab at the tender straws they got today.
Obummer keeps pointing to Romney (Bain) for shipping jobs overseas. He appointed Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric, as his "Job Czar". Since taking this position, Immelt has shut down an X-ray manufacturing facility in Wisconsin, and moved 635 jobs to South Korea. Immelt is currently in the process of eliminating over 1600 jobs at GE (primarily at the Schenectedy facility). Another one of Obummer's good choices. Also , Obummer keeps pointing to the succeess of GM. GM stock is currently at less than 1/2 of what it was when Obummer took office. The only reason their sales figures are up is because Obummer has mandated that the US government purchase GM products whenever possible.
Ok, can we ALL agree that we want to believe what we want to believe? The unemployment rate could drop to 0% and some would still argue that Obama needs to go while Rommney ensure a way that every American could own a home, pay for thier own insurance have fat retirement accounts and make the government a part-time job and some still wouldn't want him for president. We all like the candidate for president because we like him and what he says. I say VOTE!! Let the best man win, support him as best you can and lets see where being a unified U.S. (without there being a war or other tragic event) gets us.
I listened to part of Obama's Virginia stump speech this morning. He said, take the "savings" from the wars, particularly the Afghan war that's winding down and use those "savings" for the usual investments in green energy, job training, education, blah, blah blah.
I was struck immediately by the hypocrisy and the fortune telling.
How could one possibly know what future "savings" would be? How can you call the money you don't have and therefore don't spend, savings? You're simply shifting what you intend to spend from one expense to another.
Didn't you guys criticize Bush for years about "unfunded" wars? So, how can you take that amount of money that NO tax increase will cover and spend it on something you happen to support and call it OK? Makes no sense. IT'S STILL BORROWED MONEY, PEOPLE.
The guy is a pied piper and a snake oil salesman. YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.
I just listened to Rommney speaking in VA, the jobs report is wrong, unemployment is worse now than it was last month!! Oh yeah, FOX news is excited to report that in a new poll that they like, its a virtual tie in OH, VA and FL!!
Its seasonal hiring, we pick up jobs every year leading into the christmas selling season. These jobs will go away the day after christmas, 2 months after the election.
Dont read anything into this. Not only are the numbers inaccurate () they are temporary jobs, not something that will HELP us.
The rate didn't drop....the number of people that are on it dropped because their benefits are running/have run out. The Liberal media will spin anything to help their cause. Liberalism is a disease of the mind.
True Liberals aren't the problem. In fact I believe that the Liberal Ideaology is an essiential element of any good Society! I remember when the Liberal Ideaology still guided the Democrat Party, before it was murdered by this egregious Progressive garbage.
I've had many a 'lively debate' with Liberals over the years. Back then we ALL, Liberals, Conservatives, Independants, had exactly the same Goals. We just had different ideas about how best to achieve them!
I remember the real Liberals like John Kennedy- " A tax cut means higher family incomes and higher business profits and a balanced Federal Budget. Prosperity is the real way to balance our budget" or even Lyndon Johnson - " You [should] not examine legislation in the light of the benifits it would convey if properly administered, but in light of the wrongs it would do and the harm it would cause if improperly administered"
Today we have "RAISE their taxes" and ' we have to pass it to know what's in it" HUGH Difference!
It's "We the People" who got this country into the trouble it's in just four years ago and the last election. Some people are willing to believe anything and anybody. Look where it got us. Get your heads on straight and open your eyes, America!
Gee looks like at two Obama Donors are in the Department of Labor Statistics
This miraculous number just happens to be under 8% just in time for the election.
To my fellow GOP voters I suggest you convert your cash into GOLD or SILVER by the time Obama gets done printing Monopoly money the dollar will be worth about 40cents.
Also you may want to refinance & create cash flow so you can afford the impending expenses.
$12 for a pack of ciggs (Jan 1) 14$ for a pound of coffee (Jan 1) 11$ for a six pack of beer (Jan1) and TAXES will go up on EVERYONE (Jan 1)
No matter what.....I'd rather lose with conservatives (ppl of character) than win with
Occupy Wall Street Leftest MSM greedy HATE Filled Jealous Bigot Chicago Thugs who thrive in the DNC
Nonetheless, Just in case -Conservatives Look into ways to protect your 401K Obama is coming after those as well. --- If any of you can quit your JOBS ~ Obama Democrats want a f**ked up economy...let us help! :)
I bought Gold ~ Silver ~ and moved my cash to a Credit Union (out of Obama Banks) you will need any and all additional cash to survive a second term.
Your heating bills will skyrocket (by design EPA) your water bills will skyrocket (EPA) coffee will be about $15-$18 a pound everything is going to go thru the roof to pay for all this FREE OBAMACARE. and ALL TAXES are going up.
And the 1st time some Obama Voter says WTF? So help me God I'll rip my hair out!
The only problem here, to use Obama's own words is the fact that "it's Math, Arithmatic" For the unemployment rate to fall by .03%, approximately 456,000 people would have had to be removed from the rolls. If we consider the 114,000 from this month and add the 86,000 'miscounted" from last month, that still leaves almost half, over 200,000, unaccounted for! What the HE!! happened to them?
Just think, it only took 4 years and $6 Trillion in deficit spending to get here!
Of course it matters. Just imagine if the numbers had come out 8.5 or 8.6 what the headlines would have been. Everyone including you would have written off Obama and talked endlessly about it until the election day.
The total workforce is 155 million. The average unemployment rate under Bush was 5%. Multiply those two numbers and you get an average of 7,750,000 workers who were unemployed.
Similarly, the average unemployment rate under Obama was 9% which translates to 13,950,000 unemployed workers.
That means that an average of 6 million more workers were unemployed under Obama than under Bush. I'm sure these simple facts will incite all the usual left-wing sound bites, remarks taken out of context, "clever" misspellings, childish name-calling, and outright lies; but these facts will remain undeniably true.
And average rate is the most significant from the human point of view. Which would you prefer: four years without a job and then finally finding one (Obama), or having a good job for seven out of eight years (Bush)?
Your post is so childish. "And average rate is the most significant ... " That is laughable. George W. Bush left office losing close to a million jobs per month. Average is most significant. That is hysterical. W. leaves an imploding economy poised for depression after inheriting a 3.9% unemployment rate from CLINTON. You really think the posters here are stupid. Nobody but W. could have created the slop jar mess he left Obama. It was the WORST job on the economy in the history of the nation. He took a surplus and turned it into a trillion dollar annual deficit. He created only one million jobs in 8 years. (And if you gave him credit for just the first four months of Obama's term, he would have had been negative two million). W.'s job creation record is the WORST in modern times, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
One thing W. did, you must love. The economy was losing so many jobs when he left office that the first year of Obama's term looks so horrible on paper. The jobs losses are something like - 850,000, -750,000, -650,000, etc. Of course, they start going down as soon as W. can get his rancid carcass out of the White House. Good Ole W. He sounded like a total fool during his press conferences - a complete buffoon. We could never find a bigger failure. But the war dead he gave us aren't funny.
An average of 6 million more workers were unemployed under Obama than under Bush. I'm sure these simple facts will incite all the usual left-wing sound bites, remarks taken out of context, "clever" misspellings, childish name-calling, and outright lies; but these facts will remain undeniably true.
Let me make this even simpler for you: There were more people going to their jobs on every day of every year of Bush's presidency, than on every day of every year of Obama's presidency (except yesterday).
Yours is a utterly bogus argument. Let me tell you why. You 'calculations' would be right only if the starting points are the same. the economy was handed to Bush by Clinton on a silver platter.
Let me make it simple.
Assume you were given 100 dollars to spend in a month and at the end of the month you have 20 dollars. I give that 20 dollars to the next guy, he works hard and makes it 40 dollars. If you take the average of the first guy, it would be 60 dollars, and for the second guy, it would be only 30 dollars. As per your way of calculating, the first guy is better because his average is 60 dollars in the month, month whereas the second guy, even though he worked hard and made profits, you will say he is bad because his average is only 30 dollars
When Bush started he had a 5% unemployment and made it 8% in eight years. Obama took that 8% and made it 7.8%. I would say Obama has done a better job.
The unemployment rate is now lower than when Obama took power. And when he took office we were losing 800,000 jobs a month. So W. left us with an imploding economy. Now, the trend is positive. Unemployment has gone down 2.4% over the past two and one-half years.
Here are the facts: During most of the Bush years, unemployment was in steady decline, averaging 5%. When the Democrats took over Congress in 2006, the decline was first halted and then reversed. After Obama's failed "stimulus", unemployment rose even more, and stayed above 8% for 43 months (BTW, that is longer than under any other administration since the Bureau of Labor Statistics started measuring the monthly jobless rate).
If you love alternate reality, go ahead. The unemployment rate was NOT 5% when Bush took power. Do some reading! He essentially doubled the unemployment rate during his eight years - from around 4% to 7.8% and rising at historic levels at the end of his term. The trajectory of the economy (losing 800,000 jobs a month) was just like the start of the Great Depression - when he slinked out of the White House door. Everybody but you realizes that. You are a kook. W. will be right up there with Herbert Hoover (who was actually a far smarter and more decent man than W.) when it comes to tanking the economy.
Of course it matters;
From your own poll on 10.2.12;
Does anyone actually believe these numbers will cause a drop in the perception the economy is improving?
Only to the Liberals here at First Read that think 7.8% unemployment is good news.
The rest of the country has been buried under Obama's "New Normal"
$5 gas is just around the corner!
My favorite part of this news is, despite every obstructionist tactic known to mankind by the GNOP, the country is still improving!
The ones who bet against America will be the biggest losers on 11.6.12!
Bout stinkin time!
So you're telling us 44% of the country are only liberals here at FR? lol
Hey Mark & Domenico - you guys should be rolling in cash!
Try reading my comment before running your big mouth next time!
Tell us, do you work hard at being a fool or does it come naturally?
Oh Brother!
Had to dig deep for that one didn't ya? lol
4 more years...
FORWARD...
HA.......it DOES matter. You need to see Joe Scareborough this morning to know the impact of this. Happy to see guys back to work......
I doubt if the right is happy though. It seems to matter to you...you took the time to comment on it.
...if that's what the market sets the price at...and just think how happy all those oil execs and hedge fund managers will be.
You know the more things change the more they stay the same. I've said that this Administration is simply a continuation of the fiscal recklessness of the Bush years. Now, just on time they come with an unemployment figure that shows positive indications based primarily on the Household Survey. Now where have I heard that story before? .....
As Yogi Berra said "It's deja-vu all over again".
Former GE CEO Jack Welch tweeted: "Unbelievable jobs numbers…these Chicago guys will do anything. Can't debate so change numbers."

Tell me then Noid, why was the market price under $2 a gallon about 4 years ago?
What changed?
Just24,
I tend to ignore the Morning Joke, but, now I'm gonna have to check it out! lol
[What changed?]
Not enough cup holders in American cars...best get crackin' WhiteCollarCriminal!
The economy was thrown into the s***house...don't you remember?
Concerns about dropping demand...investment firms going belly-up...any of this ring a bell?
Geez Red, seems I have struck a nerve.
4 posts and now you are so intent on calling me names you are grabbing the spot right after me without posting anything to make sure you get in.
Jesus, you are pathetic.
@ Da Noid
But can you blame the President for gas prices, I thought conervatives believe in the market. Let me tell you an inconvenient truth - it's the market controlled by corporations that has distorted the market and gas prices.
Not only can the corporations make more obscene profits by distorting gas prices, but also can they blame on the President who has done nothing by being a friend to these corporations but has been victimized by corporate conspiracy.
White Collar Auto
Nothing changed.
No govt. sets price of crude oil rather, OPEC does, event of the day not just here but in the GOLF region does and Speculators on WS aid them. You need to read and understand how oil is priced and what affect the pricing daily. Just READ.
So if the career professionals come up with the report in total secrecy and are walled off, how did the President know the contents of their report?
Well noid, that was 4 years ago. Why hasn't it gotten better.
Come on, I know you know the answer.
Look on your list of the #1 reason Libs are suppose to give for why Obama has failed.
Now you all get to look forward to yet another thread about how the President doesn't control gas prices. man you guys are easy.
Look. just24 is already in.

Stiff Collar Only FOX -TARDS complain about good news.
FYI: Gas prices have nothing to do with the President. Ask Eric Cantor about what he did right here in Chicago so you can learn something.

Bob,
The economy is improving.
How very sad for you.

"$5 gas is just around the corner!"

White Collar Auto
and only to those (who want Obama to look bad because that's 1 out of 2 ways a Republican could win the election) it is not. Shrinking unemployment is not a good news, really?
what does that even mean? Are you comparing it to Romney's Parallel Universe Normal?
then you need to be for the government takeover of what is now a private oil industry.
White Collar Auto
yes, it was and it was due to the GLOBAL financial market collapse and GLOBAL credit crisis.
Tell me WCA, wasn't the stock market at 8K about 4 years ago? See where I'm going with this?
just24 - Joe has been having a rough time since the Presidential campaign began. He's basically said Romney is a loser. The best was the day he watched Romney try to rally a crowd with "Romney! Ryan!" and the crowd didn't respond. Joe said "sweet Jesus" and put his head in his hands.
He doesn't have a high regard for the Republican slate!

WCA doesn't follow all that.......naaa. He's not meant to THINK. He reads and repeats the script handed him very strictly.
Funny that the "governements" of OPEC actually set the price and btw - the United States has more fossil resources than all of OPEC COMBINED!
Too bad we have an asinine energy policy that rejects that fact, huh?
You cannot be so obtuse as to not recognize that the energy policies of the richest country in fossil energy on the planet cannot effect prices .... can you?
114,000 jobs doesn't even keep up with the number of new people joining the job maket ... what a moronic statement.
Funny that you couldn't refute that this is the worst recovery in history .. that it is far below average - just as Obama is a far below average president.
ObaMagnificent - Obama is magnificent.
great job, Mr. President
What??? I thought the recession started 31/2 years ago. Did you not get the talking points?
12 months with an average job gain of 150k...Moving forward!!
If you were to give Willard Romney an enema he would be able to fit in a match box.
Does it matter why the gas price is going up? It still has an impact.

bob-180,
114K jobs added in September plus Jul and Aug were revised up by 86K results in an increase of 200K jobs.
On average the economy has added 150,000 jobs monthly for the last 2 years.

Also from the BLS: the Labor Participation Rate is the lowest it's been in ten years.
Mighty Joe Dumb was speaking yesterday in Iowa when he came out with this gem:
Mighty Joe Dumb strikes again!! Is this guy for real democrats? Doesn't he know when NOT to say something? I can't believe he's second in line for the POTUS... and the idiot liberals that put him in there want him for another 4 years... That's as bad as wanting Obama for another 4 years so he can lie his way through making you feel sorry for him.
I can't WAIT for the vice presidential debate next week. They'll be carrying Joe out in a straight jacket.
Reich wing propaganda? You mean Robert Reich? I'd agree with that. LOL.
just24
I think he does follow it.

Now scurry off...there are cup holders to be "designed"!
Oscar...I agree...the most troubling number is that the Labor Participation Rate still seems stuck near their lowest points in a long long time. I'd really like to see that number start moving upward more quickly.

They have an enormous debt problem... unrelated to gas prices going up. Tell me screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeminglib, what will happen to this country if California goes bankrupt? Europe is a big investor in the United States, and vice versa. The EU is, collectively, the world's biggest economy, second-biggest exporter and second-biggest importer. When Europe is not healthy, it affects the US. So, the US recession may be over but the global recession -especially in Europe - is still ongoing, and it affects our economy greatly.

Just my thoughts here and I'm curious as to the thoughts of others.
bob-1805084
Oil and gas prices have almost nothing to do with economic fundamentals such as supply & demand because the supply of oil and gasoline is higher today than it was almost 4 years ago, when the national average for a gallon of gasoline was just $1.90. Meanwhile, the demand for oil in the U.S. is at its lowest since 1997.

"The Obama Boom is finally here...great news.."
These progressives are beyond parody! The most anemic economic recovery from a recession since WW2 is great news , and a 7.8% unemployment rate is a boom!

End oil subsidies now!
Your one thought was 4 seperate points.
Oil prices are set by the free market, not oil companies. Ending oil subsidies will only strengthen
foreign oil companies, and weaken American ones. If we have companies going under, the price of oil will climb even higher.
It does no good for amateurs to pretend they know what the hell is really going on when they don't have a clue.
This number should be like 6% or as low as 4.5% without even breaking a sweat.
obama is dumber'n a crowbar.
New news , new news cycle...I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say...yes...
Squirrel!
That might garner a bit more interest.
WCA-(you're smarter than that...)
[WCA-(you're smarter than that...)]
Uhn, no...he's not...but he'd rather talk about ANYTHING but the jobs numbers...
Oh, I know...how about cup holders?
Obama/Biden 2012
Next one is Biden vs Ryan, should be awesome!
Obama/Biden 2012
A message from President Obama concerning Willard's stance on China.
“He's been talking tough on China. He says he's going to take the fight to them. He's going to go after these cheaters,” Obama said. “I've got to admit that message … is better than what he's actually done about this thing. It sounds better than talking about all the years he spent profiting from companies that sent our jobs to China.”Obama added: “When you hear this new found outrage, when you see these ads he's running promising to get tough on China, it feels a lot like that fox saying, ‘You know, we need more secure chicken coops.’”
I think Rasmussen's is a 5 day average so it will be next week before any change as a result of the debate is seen in their results.
He was also going to cut the deficit in half, close GITMO, have a transparent administration, reach across the aisle....
Lots of things he didn't do thus far in his first term.
What lies SS.
Please do tell. I heard some fibs but they were coming from the guy in the Blue tie.
Steeler Fan - and he's ugly to boot!
Inside annd out.
Ursala, SF and devie, his face shows nothing but ugly hatred and it comes right from his inner core, a perfect surrogate for Romney.

That swirling sound your hear is Willard's 8% unemployment rate talking point going down the commode!
I am very pleased for all my fellow Americans that found jobs. I hope you all sleep a little bit easier knowing your employed. Have a great weekend.
See, everybody? Lisa's far from being a loony left-wing libtard, yet she didn't have any problem giving the correct response here. It was honest and sincere and she left politics out of it completely.
What's the matter with the rest of you?
JoAnne in PA. Thank you for the kind words.
JoAnn.
Fire them all.
lisa---I always think that every month when the jobs report comes out---what a relief for the people who found jobs and I hope an encouragement to those who are still looking that things will work out for them.
Steelar fan, yes they are real people and they are our fellow citizens. I wish them well. Have a good weekend.
Gee - JoAnne in PA - Maybe it's being called a Libtard???
Dear Emily Litella...come here often?...
Not a ringing endorsement of self-education...
Obama/Biden 2012
dangerfield - Thanks for the chuckle.
"Sarchasm: the gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the recipient who doesn't get it"
shaak
The republicans might have considered it had the dems not pushed through PAYGO then immediately insisted on not following their own rules.
JoAnne in PA--wonderful--I love it! We can also add the Humpty Dumpty Rule--"a word means only what I mean it to, nothing more, nothing less!" Have a great weekend!

Sorry for the double post--that darn bubblegum is driving me crazy!
Also remember, something the right should push, if those who have quit looking for work, those with part time jobs, and those under employed were counted the unemployment rate would be around 15%.
http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2012/10/05/impossible-to-manipulate-labor-survey-data-former-bls-head/
Paul Solman-
A rare banner day on the jobs front, at least at first glance.
So today's story may be a surge in part-time work and remember: if you only worked one hour in the past week, you're counted as officially employed.
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/businessdesk/2012/10/unemployment-ticks-down-to-78.html
Good luck to your grand-kids...Have fun i "The Biggest Little City in the World"...
"Only to the Liberals here at First Read that think 7.8% unemployment is good news"
And only a wingnut would think it isn't
"Unemployment rate dips below 8%... Will it have an impact"
No because if you dig down into these Unemployment Numbers you will find that the unemployment is still a major issue in this economy. If you consider those who quit looking for work or are part time employees you get a far different picture of the "real" unemployment numbers
Two years of George Bush's policies resulted in stagnant wages for the middle income earners, while the rich got richer and richer. Now, Romney wants to return to those same policies, how does this make sense?
Obama extended Bush's policies. How about you acknowledge that.
Obummer keeps pointing to Romney (Bain) for shipping jobs
overseas. He appointed Jeff Immelt, CEO
of General Electric, as his "Job Czar". Since taking this position, Immelt has shut
down an X-ray manufacturing facility in Wisconsin, and moved 635 jobs to South
Korea. Immelt is currently in the
process of eliminating over 1600 jobs at GE (primarily at the Schenectedy
facility). Another one of Obummer's good
choices. Also , Obummer keeps pointing
to the succeess of GM. GM stock is
currently at less than 1/2 of what it was when Obummer took office. The only reason their sales figures are up is
because Obummer has mandated that the US government purchase GM products
whenever possible.
Well, we can't have any polls out there that show this as a close race! Tell David Axelrod that he better get on the phone!
Nice attempted spin! What he said was that there were fewer jobs created this month than last, which is the truth!
It matters. We are making slow but sure progress despite the Republicans slamming on the brakes for any movement in job bills in Congress.
I can hear them now...ya but, ya but..Skreeeeeeeech, whine..ya but, ya but....
Too little, too late!
Kannin:
Kannin
Spin, spin spin ...
Kannin:
If you love alternate reality, go ahead. The unemployment rate was NOT 5% when Bush took power. Do some reading! He essentially doubled the unemployment rate during his eight years - from around 4% to 7.8% and rising at historic levels at the end of his term. The trajectory of the economy (losing 800,000 jobs a month) was just like the start of the Great Depression - when he slinked out of the White House door. Everybody but you realizes that. You are a kook. W. will be right up there with Herbert Hoover (who was actually a far smarter and more decent man than W.) when it comes to tanking the economy.
