Romney, Ryan rally to build on debate momentum in Virginia

Steve Helber / AP

Republican presidential candidate former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., wave to supporters during a rally in Fishersville, Va., Oct. 4.

FISHERSVILLE, Va. – Capitalizing on momentum from Wednesday night's debate, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan whipped up their base here in rural Virginia with a raucous rally complete with fireworks, live music and pointed new attack lines aimed at their Democratic opponents.

"I got the chance to ask the president questions that people across the country have wanted to ask him, such as why is it that he pushed Obamacare at a time when we had 23 million people out of work? I asked why is it that the middle class is still buried in this country – why is it we have 23 million people out of work?" Romney said, ticking off several more debate topics. "I asked him those questions and you – you heard his answers."

Romney wove highlights from the debate into his traditional stump speech, revisiting the showdown that was watched by 62 million Americans.

"What you didn't hear last night from the president is why it is the next four years are possibly going to be better than the last four years. He doesn't have a way to explain that, because he has the same policies for the next four years as he had for the last four years," Romney said. "He said go forward. I call it forewarned, all right?"

Ryan also weighed in on the debate for the first time, predictably praising the man at the top of the GOP ticket.

“Every now and then, we see a glimpse into the future. Last night, we saw a clear picture. We saw a clear choice," Ryan said. "Last night, America got to see the man I know: a leader, a decisive man, an optimistic man, a man with a plan to get people back to work and to protect our freedoms.”

Thursday's event showed a tilt back toward the Republican base. Country music star Trace Adkins warmed up the crowd with a 30-minute set, and the National Rifle Association officially bestowed its endorsement of the Romney/Ryan ticket.

“We stand on the edge of an Obama cliff with our freedom. If President Obama gets re-elected, he’s going to have one to three Supreme Court appointments," warned Wayne LaPierre, the NRA’s executive vice president.  "And I guarantee you this: If that happens – one to three more Sotomayors and Kagan – we can kiss our constitutional right to own a firearm in the United States goodbye along with a lot of the rest of our freedoms. And we can’t let that happen.”

In the final push in the 2012 presidential election, candidates Mitt Romney and Barack Obama make their last appeals to voters.

With the first presidential debate out of the way, the focus turns to the vice presidential debate next Tuesday in Kentucky.

On Thursday, Romney and Ryan pounced on the vice president's statement earlier in the day that Democrats aimed to repeal the so-called Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.

“Last night President Obama made it very clear he’s going to raise taxes. Today, Vice President Joe Biden made it even more clear,” Ryan said. “In Iowa … he asked if he and President Obama wanted a trillion dollar tax hike and his response to himself was, ‘Yes we do.’ That’s a direct quote, friends. Well, Virginia – no, we don’t!”

Romney piled onto his running mate’s remarks: "The vice president blurted out the truth today. They plan on raising taxes on the American people, and that will kill jobs. We will not let that happen. We want to create jobs, not kill jobs in this country.”

Democrats cried foul at that and other comments by Romney touting his own tax plan and accusing the President of trying to raise taxes on middle class Americans.

"Clearly, Mitt Romney thinks facts don’t matter – but the hard-working Americans who he’d punish with his policies do,” said Obama campaign spokesperson Lis Smith, who accused Romney of a "streak of dishonesty."

As the weekend approaches, Romney continues to campaign in Virginia before heading to the battleground state of Florida, while Ryan continues to prep for the debate and raise money for the GOP ticket.

Mitt wants to cut more taxes for the rich - benefitting himself more.

It's the Bush Tax Cut that has buried the Middle Class.

Wow, that's odd. The Liberals told me Romney was SMOKED by Obama. Yet he's able to build momentum after the debate? Perhaps we should rethink who smoked whom. I wrote an article before the debate saying that Romney would win the debate if he kept the focus on Obama:

http://thependragon.newsvine.com/_news/2012/10/03/14205959-start-your-engines-previewing-the-first-debate.

That's precisely what he did, and he beat Obama hands-down.

Mitt Romney’s secretly taped comment about “47 percent” of Americans never made an appearance in last night’s presidential debate. But on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox tonight, Mitt Romney was asked what his response would have been had the debate moderator Jim Lehrer, or President Obama, confronted the candidate about the tape.

Here’s his answer, portions of which likely would have been prepared ahead of the debate:

“Well, clearly in a campaign with hundreds if not thousands of question and answer sessions, now and then you’re going to say something that doesn’t come out right. In this case I said something that’s just completely wrong. And I absolutely believe however that my life has shown that I care about the 100 percent and that has been demonstarted throughout my life. This whole campaign is about the 100 percent. When I become president it’ll be about helping the 100 percent.”

In a press conference shortly after the tape was released by Mother Jones, Romney took a different position. He then said that while his comments were “not elegantly stated” and “off the cuff,” they were still “a message which I’m going to carry and continue to carry, which is look, the president’s approach is attractive to people who are not paying taxes because my discussion about lowering taxes isn’t as attractive to them.”

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/romney-on-47-percent-i-said-something-thats

Sorry Romney, these words are going to stick for as long as there is an internet. Oh, and you lied. These words weren't said on the campaign trail. These words were said supposedly secretly behind closed doors with people who have no use for us. Including YOU.

Lawrence O'Donnell, spectacular program tonite.

Not that I want to cause any trouble or anything, but shouldn't Lawrence be on like, 5 nights a week, until the election? Sorry Lawrence. But you bring sanity to an insanely insane cable environment.

There is NO reason to believe the Republican'ts

They like to make bogus promises and predictions.

They tell you lies about the future to elect them.

When was the last time they held on to their word?

What have Republican'ts done for America in the last 40 years?

Republican'ts want you to trust them but are you verifying that trust?

Did you look at the cause for the national debt?

Did you notice that it is all Republican't policies?

Did you notice that Obama spent to fix Republican't failed policies.

Did you know that Obama's fixes are working?

Did you know that we need more fixes?

Did you know that the Republican'ts do not want those fixes?

Did you know that Republican'ts want to bring back the same failed policies?

Do you think that Republican'ts deserve to be in power?

What have they done to earn it?

Republican't polices have created a massive national debt of $16 TRILLION.

Do you think that Romney, Mr. 1%, Mr. anti-47%, Mr. "I like to fire people" is looking out for you?

Romney / Lyan have been in the middle of all the country's problems.

They're the cause.

They want more "redistribution of debt" from their interests to you.

Did you know that the tax cuts they give out are coming back in superpac accounts?

Do you know who is paying for their campaign?

Why do they have have secret MILLIONS overseas?

Why are they lying so much?

You need answers.

Good luck!

War on women,
War on fuel,
War on America,
What are we to do?

Fast and Furious,
And Benghazi too.
Several are dead,
Because of you.

Splitting the country,
In more ways than one.
You won't be happy,
Until you have won.

Wasted tax dollars,
Right down the drain
.And you want more,
You are inflicting such pain.

On November the sixth,
I will cast my vote.
And I hope and pray,
This is far as it goes.

I am a proud veteran,
Who went to Viet Nam.
And I will not bury,
My head in the sand.

To "The Messiah" Obama,
You must go.
For the good of the country,
God please make it so.

Bob, no the message was the 47% are moochers and he wasn't going to bother with them. He was talking about President Obama's entire base as being moochers or victims.

That's how he sees all of us, the president's supporters.

He doesn't see that we care about health care for all, we care about our planet and the environment, we care about people having decent wages in order to support their families and the economy, we care about ending wars, we care about discrimination, we are about regulating Wall Street, we care about equal pay, we care about equality, we care about public educations, we care about keeping religion (and right wing nutcases) out of our personal lives, etc.

Romney and his base see us only as moochers. The 47%.

That's what that video was about.

There are a whole lot of smart sophisticated people out there supporting President Obama. A whole lot.

Take Bill Maher for example:

h/tdailykos:

“I would defend him on this: When people say, ‘Well, he promised change and then look what happened, we didn’t get it.’ Bull@!$%#. He promised change and he delivered change. First of all, he probably stopped a depression, the auto industry bailout, obviously getting bin Laden, getting out of Iraq, health care — something eight other presidents had tried and not been able to deliver. Credit card reform, Wall Street reform, student loans. There has been change, it’s just when people, they hear ‘change’ they expect their life to go from black and white to color.”

##########

Republicans showed us that all they cared about was a bad recovery to hurt President Obama. Here we had a man who ran for the presidency with the hope of working together with Congress on behalf of the American people. A chance for all of us to work together as one nation.

And the Republican Party, Mitt's party, turned their backs on not just the president, but the American people as well.

These are not good people. Neither are most of the journalists and pundits on cable.

What Obama does care about is Monsanto and the GMO (genetically modified organism) industry. Why ?

Because Bill Gates, who has large interests at Monsanto, the GMO food industry, also has large interests at MSNBC, and enough power to have them bias their media for Obama. Here's why:

During Obama's term as president, people who had been working to label GMO (genetically modified =organism, GMF = genetically modified food) food and warn the public of its huge dangers were shocked to the core. They saw Obama had been pulling a bait and switch.

Obama filled key posts with Monsanto people, in federal agencies that wield tremendous force in food issues, the USDA and the FDA.

At the USDA, as the director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Roger Beachy, former director of the Monsanto Danforth Center.

As deputy commissioner of the FDA, the new food-safety-issues czar, the infamous Michael Taylor, former vice-president for public policy for Monsanto. Taylor had been instrumental in getting approval for Monsanto's genetically engineered bovine growth hormone.

As commissioner of the USDA, Iowa governor, Tom Vilsack. Vilsack had set up a national group, the Governors' Biotechnology Partnership, and had been given a Governor of the Year Award by the Biotechnology Industry Organization, whose members include Monsanto.

As the new Agriculture Trade Representative, who would push GMOs for export, Islam Siddiqui, a former Monsanto lobbyist.

As the new counsel for the USDA, Ramona Romero, who had been corporate counsel for another biotech giant, DuPont.

As the new head of the USAID, Rajiv Shah, who had preciously worked in key positions for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a major funder of GMO agriculture research.

We should also remember that Obama's secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, once worked for the Rose law firm. That firm was counsel to Monsanto.

Obama nominated Elena Kagan to the US Supreme Court. Kagan, as federal solicitor general, had previously argued for Monsanto in the Monsanto v. Geertson seed case before the Supreme Court.

Obama hadn't simply made honest mistakes. Obama hadn't just failed to exercise proper oversight in selecting appointees. He wasn't just experiencing a failure of short-term memory. He was staking out territory on behalf of Monsanto and other GMO corporate giants.

Monsanto and MSNBC also have made large campaign contributions as well to keep Obama installing their lobbyists into government positions.

The trouble is, that their seed produces sterile offspring. That would not be so bad if the pollen didn't drift to nearby farms rendering their produce sterile as well. Soon, all cash crops will be GMO corporation foods. We will be dependant on them to survive as all other non-gmo crops will be infected.

Their plants are genetically infused with foreign plants DNA, as well as animal DNA. Agent orange is also spliced into their DNA which causes cancer. Monsanto, and Dupont now have over 35% of the U.S. seed production market.

As these GMO's are infused with foreign DNA to create insect, and defoliants, they become toxic to bees, as well as other insects. This is one of the things killing our bees. Bees pollinate 98% of all the flowering plants on Earth including all of our food crops.

France has outlawed GMO's, Brazile has lawsuits against them, and many countries are now becoming aware of their danger to life on Earth.

OBAMA SUPPORTING THIS KIND OF UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR, AND DOING UNETHICAL THINGS LIKE THESE APPOINTMENTS OF GMO INDUSTRY GIANTS IN EXCHANGE FOR ALL THIS MEDIA COVERAGE IS WRONG.

THIS IS B.S., AND NEEDS TO STOP, PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH. GOOGLE ANY OF THIS !

I watched the debate between Romney and Obama, listening to what was said; but more importantly, watching each persons reactions... What I saw was Obama cringing when Romney pointed out that Obama-Care will pull 716 Billion from Medicare, and doctors, hospitals and pharmacies are already lining up to drop patients with Obama-Care. Exactly how was that suppose to help the poor, elderly and uninsured.

I watched Obama attempt to change the subject ,when confronted with the fact he has added more to the national debt in one term than any prior president from either party in the past. I watched Obama tread water and grimace, when called on the carpet, over hand picking a panel of 15 members, who will, in essence decide for the country, what medical bills to pay under Obama-care and what conditions not to financially support.. If that doesn't throw the sick, elderly and people with pre-existing conditions under the bus, I don't know what will... I watched Obama attempt to steer the conversation away from the highest consistent unemployment rate in this country since WWII. I watched Obama guffaw over loans to Solyndra, and other top notch Obama campaign contributors.

No, I don't care how you try to detract from the subject... Obama's "smoke and mirrors" promises were shown for what they are in the clear light of day! Obama didn't even deny that his projected budget will add another 1 Trillion dollars, annually to the current national debt of 16+ Trillion over the next four years alone.

Do the math people! Obama has added almost 7 Trillion dollars to the national debt in the last four years and another 4 Trillion, if reelected in the next four years... That's over 20 Trillion Dollars in national debt by 2016... It took Clinton two terms and Bush two term combined to get the national debt to 9 Trillion; Obama has almost exceeded that in one term and will far overshadow that by 2016...

I have one question to all you die hard Obama Supporters out there? Obama controlled the House and Senate the first 2 1/2 years of his term pushing every piece of legislation through he wanted. With all that political power, how did it benefit Americans today?.. It didn't, plain and simple! Obama took out billions of Stimulus loans from China that was supposed to boost the economy and offer an economic break to taxpayers. However taxpayers saw next to nothing of the Stimulus money, most of the money went to Obama's overseas contributors and their companies, and now taxpayers are faced with the monsterous tax loan to China..

Instead of changing or amending Constitutional laws Obama doesn't agree with, Obama chose to ignore Constitutional Laws regarding Immigration, create his own policies and sue states forced to take matters into their own hands. Obama took an "Oath of Office to Uphold and Sustain the Constitution of the United States"; I don't care how you slice it, Obama's actions were treasonis to the oath he took and any President other than Obama would have been impeached for such actions!

Gas prices are up, home foreclosures are high, unemployment is over 14% in some states and still consistently high across the country. Obama states his embarrassment for America overseas and bows to foreign leaders. Obama give foreign loan aid to Anti Israel countries. Obama did nothing but apologize for America when our embassies were attacked, ambassador killed and others attacked. Obama has done nothing; but ignore and downsize our military and now Obama believes he has done a good job... Exactly what planet of denial are all you people from?.... You die hard supporters can't even use Bin Laden as a success for Obama? Why? Because in 2008, during his Presidential run, Obama decryed Former President Bush and his military aids strategies toward capturing Bin Laden. During the last four years, Obama has continued to follow every military strategy former President Bush had in place to finish what prior President had in place... Do you doubt this? Why don't you talk to some of those military generals, Obama recently fired, when they started telling the nation what Obama has been doing!

This country is in far worse shape than when Obama took office for years ago... And after four years of failure...You folks have allowed Obama to blame every one of his economic missteps on former President Bush.. Granted, President Bush was not angel; however, it WASN'T former President Bush who added another 7+ Trillion dollars to the national debt and has the country in its' current financial state.. No, folks, its time to swallow your bitter pill... THE BUCK STOPS WITH OBAMA!....

You may be willing to cripple the hopes, dreams and economic future of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren forced to pay 50% of their income toward this national debt created here; but, I am not!.. I love my country and my family too much to do that to them..

We do have a clear choice... And it is NOT Barack Obama!.. You know, there is nothing wrong with making mistakes; what is reprehensible is not owning up to, admitting your mistakes and learning from them....

Romney/Ryan 2012......

Romneys comment was the Obama has 47% of his base locked down.

Teachers Unions (who still strike when they are the highest paid in the entire country).

Auto Workers (Who he even brags about, despite us being 25+ billion dollars in the hole bailing out).

Food Stamp/free cell phone holders (apparently a good many of them illegal immigrants).

People who ran out unemployment who never looked for a job (even now I can find a job, its called being responsible and taking a job that pays the bills).

Almost anyone who receives a Government Paycheck (military not included).

Bin Laden knew if he blew up those towers we'd go to war, and that war would bankrupt us. We were fools to fall for it. Bush Jr, and our Congress, and our media, and us, let it happen (polls showed almost everyone was for it).

So now ten years later we still want to blame Bush? Say it was his policies? Ignore that we let it happen?

I voted for Obama last time. I was hopeful he'd find a way to bring renewable energies to market (since we seemed to refuse to do so) and I was hopeful he'd bring work ethics back into focus.

Instead he thinks "free" healthcare and everyone employed by the Government is the solution (how is he going to hire 100,000 teachers?).

Hopefully Romney energized his 47% and hopefully he will have moved 4 % (the right 4%) to his side (if not more).

Obama had a great talk, but he had no walk. He knew that if he opened his mouth last night (like he does on the campaign trail) that Romney would be so awesome that he'd have to pull out of the race (and let a real leader, like Hillary, take over).

Obama might be smart, and he might have learned how to talk, but he has no comprehension on how to lead real citizens, no concept of real work, and not a clue about real world finances..

Thats the simple, hard, truth. We voted in one "kid" (Bush Jr) twice, lets not do the same again.

Its time Americans had a President who is mature, smart, balanced, and who will be President for 100% of the people, and who knows the 47% on the Governments dime needs to get off because we simply can't afford it.

We the People, I thought that was odd that Obama claimed to be able to create 100,000 new teaching jobs, too. Grants to schools, I guess? I thought states were in charge of schools and community colleges.

The sad thing about the auto bailout is that it was a temporary band-aid. How long until GM starts slipping again?

And the 47% - I've had plenty of liberal friends tell me that we are all the victims of a government that can and should do more. Especially concerning health care. And these friends would stand behind Obama, since he feels that it's government's responsibility to help out more, too. But when Romney says this, claims that those Americans feel like government can and should do more, therefore they're not going to vote for him, it's somehow a terribly bad thing.

In the end, actions are going to speak louder than words, for both candidates. That gives Romney an advantage.

It is a consensus among political writers and pundits that Romney won the debate by showing the American people that Obama's policies have not worked, and would not work if he were given another four years.

Obama's body language was negative and defensive, he was showing the attitude of a defeated man; a man who's flaws were being exposed, and he was powerless to cover them up, or defend himself.

He looked weak and impotent, but most of all, he looked scared and irrelevant.

He is a beaten man, and all you people can do is continue to lie to yourselves, and hope and pray that a miracle will happen. It won't; he has been exposed, and you can't put that Genie back in the bottle.

He will have to rely on more dirty tricks by Jimmy Carter's grandson, and even that won't save this man's presidency. He has already lost. His job is lying right next to all the shovel-ready jobs he promised middle class Americans, on the scrap heap in fantasy land.

He can go there in January, after Mitt Romney's inauguration, and visit with his broken promises and his unfulfilled potential.

He is a pathetic political corpse waiting to be buried by the coming landslide.

Just lay down Barrack and let the wave pass over you.

let the Romneybot fans gloat. I would hope with all his money and support from the Koch brothers he could do something right...even if he did it all wrong. His lying last night will be held against him for 4 long years, saying he can get elected. But you oligarchy cheerleaders better remember, this election and debates are far from over. Obama might just have a plan in place... baiting Mittsy out wouldn't be too far fetched, considering there isn't much he hasn't said, or pledged to.

Progressivism is about relaxing your work ethic and not planning for the future because you have a protective nanny government to take care of you. Funny how it plays out with that same thought process with 4 years of media protecting you, Obama, and teleprompters protecting you. You got lazy and careless and when the teleprompter was taken away and media only looks foolish if they back you after your performance... well, your lack of preparedness is just another of countless examples that progressivism makes people weak.

Bob, no the message was the 47% are moochers and he wasn't going to bother with them. He was talking about President Obama's entire base as being moochers or victims.

That's how he sees all of us, the president's supporters.

And how does President Obama and his base feel about Romney's supporters? It's not like he's gone out of his way to do the right any favors...

He doesn't see that we care about health care for all,

Then vote for someone besides President Obama. There was absolutely no attempt made to give health care for all once the 2008 campaign season ended.

we care about our planet and the environment,

Is that why President Obama reinstated off-shore drilling? Is that why there has been no attempt to beef up environmental laws, despite the campaign promises?

we care about people having decent wages in order to support their families and the economy,

I'm with you on this one in principle, but i will also point out attempts to keep wages high will also keep prices high so it is a dead-end road.

we care about ending wars,

Then vote for someone besides President Obama. You might have noticed he wanted to continue the Iraq war, in addition to starting the war in Libya.

we care about discrimination,

THEN STOP THE DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WHITE MALES!!!!!!! Sorry, I rarely put everything in all caps, but your blatant discrimination should be stopped. It really is unfair and it also violates the constitution.

we are about regulating Wall Street,

Let me know when you actually do that and then we'll talk.

we care about equal pay,

Why? Seriously, why should people get equal pay for unequal work? I have no problems with Kobe Bryant getting paid 100,000 times more than the janitor that sweeps up the court after he is finished and it baffles me why you think otherwise. Equal opportunity, not equal pay, should be the goal. As long as that janitor has the same opportunity to earn Kobe Bryant's pay, I have no problem with the system.

we care about equality,

See my previous comments about white males. I restrained myself from putting it in all caps this time, but I still feel strongly about it. What you are doing is not just morally wrong, it is also economic suicide for a nation to discriminate against a large group of its citizens.

we care about public educations,

Then I suggest you change course. Public education is deeply broken and since the left runs public education you have no one to blame but yourselves.

we care about keeping religion (and right wing nutcases) out of our personal lives, etc.

So deeply religious people like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, the Pope, etc. are just a bunch of right wing nutcases? I think you just answered my earlier question about how you feel about Romney's supporters.

Romney and his base see us only as moochers. The 47%.

Your side is fighting the voter ID law because a significant portion of your base can't pay the 20 dollar fee to get a license. It would seem far more of you are moochers than you really want to admit.

This is not a game of gamble where you out - bluff someone.

Whoever is standing behind this machine, obviously stocking tensions and threatening vengeance in blood for political loss in this duel, must put the weapons down and leave the room before the weapons speak.

The civil society in America, whatever happened over past 4 years, is still intact. This country is much better than anyone may want us to believe.

There are a whole lot of smart sophisticated people out there supporting President Obama. A whole lot.

There are indeed and anyone who says otherwise is simply not telling the truth. But, there are also a lot of people who are supporting President Obama because they believe their next welfare check depends on it and anyone who says otherwise is simply not telling the truth.

Take Bill Maher for example:

h/tdailykos:

“I would defend him on this: When people say, ‘Well, he promised change and then look what happened, we didn’t get it.’ Bull@!$%#. He promised change and he delivered change. First of all, he probably stopped a depression,

Did it ever occur to you that he might have caused that depression?

the auto industry bailout,

A poor idea if there ever was one. They simply are not efficient enough to compete fairly in the marketplace and thus do not deserve to survive. Harsh, I know, but otherwise we would all be typing on an old manual typewriter.

obviously getting bin Laden,

I will give him credit for issuing the order to kill Bin Laden (I will also give him the blame if this blows up in our faces), but I will not give him all the credit. That raid was not possible without a lot of work from other people.

getting out of Iraq,

You need to check that. President Obama wanted to keep the troops in Iraq, but the Iraqi government insisted we meet the deadline agreed to by former President Bush. Bush had far more to do with us leaving Iraq than President Obama.

health care — something eight other presidents had tried and not been able to deliver.

The campaign promise was health care for all, with no increase in cost and no reduction in services. The reality is health care for a small group that reliably votes Democrat, an estimated 1.7 trillion dollar increase and an enormous cut in Medicare. Still want to brag about this "achievement"?

Credit card reform, Wall Street reform, student loans.

I'm not aware of any meaningful reform on any of those things. Do you have references? If you want to claim Dodd-Frank, notice that I did say "meaningful."

There has been change, it’s just when people, they hear ‘change’ they expect their life to go from black and white to color.”

No, most of us interpreted change as meaning he would change the way Washington worked. He hasn't changed anything, so far he has been a typical politician that says what people want to hear during the campaign, breaks those promises as fast as he can, then bribes his base in order to stay in power. Do you really want to debate that?

Republicans showed us that all they cared about was a bad recovery to hurt President Obama.

The Republicans stopped the bleeding. As bad as it was, we would have had even more money shoveled to the Democratic base had they not stepped in.

Here we had a man who ran for the presidency with the hope of working together with Congress on behalf of the American people. A chance for all of us to work together as one nation.

Working together as a nation implies that you will work with the other party. President Obama has simply failed to do that.

And the Republican Party, Mitt's party, turned their backs on not just the president, but the American people as well.

These are not good people. Neither are most of the journalists and pundits on cable.

I kind of agree with you on the journalists and pundits, but I suspect it is more ignorance than outright being bad people. Strongly disagree with you that anyone has turned their backs on the American people, unless of course you mean how the Democratic party has illegally discriminated against white males for about five decades.

There is no winner in a debate, there is only a winner in the election.

The huge problem for Romney is that he lied, again, flip-flopped, again, in front of 70 million people. He outright lied on numerous occasions. He lied about his 5 trillion dollar tax cut, he lied about coverage for pee-existing coverage, he lied about his Medicare plan, he lied multiple times about Obama's record. To top that his campaign confirmed the lie and flip-flopped within minutes of the debate about pee-existing coverage in his health plan on TV. Then he admitted on Fox he was "completely wrong" about his 47% comments despite a completely different lie he told about the tape just days earlier.

HE LIES EVERY DAY! Hell, he practically lies every time he opens his mouth.

The "winner" of the debate is the candidate that uses the debate to improve his or her position in the race. Once Romney's lies are exposed over the coming weeks people will start to realize his performance in the debates was all theater and deceit.

Romney is in trouble, he's a pathological liar that got exposed as a liar in a national debate. Once you see the fallout I doubt you'll be so excited about High Priest Romney's campaign prognosis.

On the likeability question -- where the president's held the edge all year, generally by a double-digit advantage -- Romney closed the gap: 46% said he was the more likeable candidate, to 45% who said the same of Obama.

Team Obama attempting severe damage control by resorting to spin control via more Obama lies.

Obama and his surrogates want to try and paint Romney as a liar when Obama has been lying to the American people for over 4 years now. And one of Obama's latest lies was insisting that a terrorist attack, that resulted in the assassination of an Ambassador and 3 other diplomats and the theft of sensitive security information from our Consulate, was really just an angry mob of spontaneous protesters. And that lie was particularly disgusting because it was concocted by the terrorist that attacked US on the anniversary of 9/11. Yet, Mr. Obama had no qualms about repeating it, as long as he thought that doing so would keep the truth of what happened from impacting his campaign. Obama is a very self centered man. He could careless about being truthful to America. All he cares about is getting re-elected. We don't need 4 more years of his broken promises, lies, incompetence, division and failures. If debate was scored with deductions for inaccurate and misleading statements as it should be, Obama won despite a lackluster performance. Mitt gets marked down for false statements on Medicare, his 20% tax cuts (est. $4.8 trillion over 10 years), green jobs ($23 billion, not $90 billion), his pre-existing coverage stance (no uninsured can gain coverage for pre-existing condition), his estimate of cost of Obamacare (will actually reduce cost), and 22 other Mitt myths.

Obama wins debate due to Romney being marked down for false and misleading statements.

This is how it would be scored in scholastic debates. It should be the same standard we hold Presidential candidates to.

Fair is fair. Truth is based on facts. Mitt, you can't just lie your way to victory.

If people will stop and reflect every GOP since Reagan have said anything to get elected only to turn around and step all over the middle class so they can grab more or our US tax dollars from corporate welfare to DOD contracts. I will never be fooled again by these GOP talking heads they bring to the table. What Obama should have said when Romney suggested Obama's green energy support was based on who donated to his campaign.

Governor. I was supporting green energy long before I received any campaign contributions. It's no more unusual that people in the green energy business supports a like minded someone like myself than it is that big oil, gas, coal and wallstreet would support a candidate like yourself with millions in donations when you support eliminating many restrictions on their businesses or keeping billions of dollars in subsidies no other companies can get. You claim to weep for small business yet by far the majority of your tax and deregulation plans would benefit the largest corporations in America not them. When you open up vast area's of our public land without restriction it won't be small business exploiting that land it'll be the mega corporations.

When you eliminate regulations on banks it won't be small local banks but the too big too fail banks that are gambling by investing with 10 to 1 multiples to increase profit but also increase the risks the same percent profiting. It won't be local banks that made mortgage loans without documentation, no mortgage insurance with low down payments and teaser loans of 1% that when it reset in a few years payments would exceed the borrowers gross income it was the too big to fail banks because local banks didn't do those things. A 10th grade economics student could have told anyone it was a recipe for disaster yet 50 million a year bank CEO's never saw it coming, greed blinded them. Like Bush who promised that his tax cuts were targeted not to the wealthy but to lower income Americans yet his tax cut gave the average American in the lower brackets an average cut of $17 in cuts but those in the highest $123,000 each. Romney's tax and regulation cuts may give small business slightly lower taxes but who believes a 20% tax cut on a small business making 300K will be anything compared to the same percentage cut to a company or individual making 300 million? The rich as stated by both candidates already get enough breaks. Romney's true rate was 10.3% last year on 13 million income, you don't have to cut his and people like hims already low rates in order to give them to small business you could target tax cuts. And what small business will benefit by opening up federal land in multi billion dollar auctions? Reagan sold his tax cut plan by stating it was for the middle class yet who believes a tax cut of a few percent for middle income taxpayers that had a 28% rate lowered to 25% and saved a few hundred dollars was the real goal and not shaving the top rate from 70% to 35% that cut hundreds of billions off the rate of the hand full at the top?

While Obama's performance in the debate was lackluster to say the least I don't understand how Romney's performance is being called a win. What I saw was a candidate that was distancing himself from himself. His statements went against everything he said in the primary debates, EVERYTHING. The debate looked much more like a Democratic primary debate than a debate between candidates from two different parties. Does anyone actually buy into the switch from 47% of the population are moochers to the I am the guardian of the middle class shtick? If I was a Romney supporter I would be worried that the real Romney is not a conservative. Which if they actually looked at his record as governor they would have known he was much more liberal or at least much more willing to compromise with them. Energise his base? The President just needs to not try to be so cordial and rip into the creep. Why he cares about every American now when he personally fired thousands at his jobs in the past . Why his approval ratings in his previous offices held were in the low 30%. How much has he stored in offshore bank accounts and why, if that is illegal, is he not accountable for it. How he can flip flop on the issues and say one thing one week and something else the next. How he is expected to make all these big changes when the Repubs in Congress and Senate VOWED to make him a one term President and did everything (Including his running mate Gilligan) to keep any President ideas from going forward. How if he claims it would take him 8 years to get the country back in line is he expecting Obama to do it in LESS than four with a lame Congress? How is he going to implement all these glamourous plans? Kill off Big Bird? Seriously, that's going to save the country? How Mitts Repubs left this country raped, pillaged and in total shambles and so far in the hole that it took Obama to get it to where we are and he tries to make it sound like he didn't do enough. If the repubs get control again, what we see happen will be a total 180 from what he has said. He will make it up as he goes along. Other countries hated Bush and they hate this man as well. We do not need to step back and destroy our country like Bush/Cheney tried to do, but folks, it will happen. He may have well had the upper hand in this debate, but if the President puts it to him in the next, he will not have anything to stand on. One of my friends posted on Facebook "Mitt is a good man. He loves his country". Sorry....fail....Mitt only loves himself.

All this crap about JFK. That was a million years ago. Who cares about his famous one liner, " Ask what you can do for your country..............." THOSE DAYS ARE LONG GONE. It was an entirely different America in the 60's. That is like quoting Lincoln or maybe Davis. The world was on the brink of complete annihilation, the end of the world, but that is another story. One or two good quotes does not make a president. The first republican president was Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln people!!!!! Why doesn't any of you people quote him??? He saved our country at a extremely high cost. He is known as the greatest American president EVER!! The Democrats in this country are the people who should cross party lines and vote Romney. Wake up people!!! The illegals crossing the border everyday in the thousands are using up the benefits meant for our poor, elderly, and disabled. Our school system is catering to the illegals, spending education $$$$ to educate them in our schools. No child left behind, LOL. Democrats are so worried about what exactly??? Nothing that would not fix itself if we implemented aggressive and effective immigration laws. Well it seems like the blind leading the blind. The democrats just want to win, the outcome doesn't seem important to the in the least!! Why is that???? Republican or Democrat, it does not matter, our American poor matter, American children matter, the American disabled or elderly matter, and as an American I want our country to take care of our own. That is not to much to ask, am I the only one ???

The only one who was lying on that stage Wednesday night was Obama. I am sure many of you have lied before and you hem and haw and don't give eye contact. That was exactly what Obama was doing. Romney on the other hand was strong, delivered his facts and looked straight at Obama. Obama is out of his league being president. He has been groomed all his adult life for this roll. All his radical friends telling him how special and wonderful he is while helping him rise to power. He has never had to expain anything he does. Well he had to Wednesday night and the amatuer totally blew it. It showed how incompetant he is as president and for being president for almost 4 years you think he would have been able to explain just a little better what he has done, but he couldn't. He lost the debate. Romney was on target. He knew exactly what he was talking about on that stage. He is NOT the liar in this race. Obama is. Obama is a fraud and you libs just keep gobbling up his touchy feely words. You libs vote emotionally. Not intellectually. Your brains can't process facts. Liberalism is an incurable America killing disease.

Right wingers like to point to the increased numbers on social programs but ignore facts. Over 5 million Americans lost their jobs the last half year under Bush and another 3 to 4 million while we were still under Bush's budget which ended in Oct. 2009. How could we not have more people getting unemployment, welfare, food stamps and medicaid when so many millions were dumped onto these programs right before Obama took office and responsibility. Many of us were saddened watching successful wall street employees walking out with their office contents when the day before they were making 7 figure salaries. Too many on the right seem to forget the despair and fear millions had at the end of 2008 they seem to think it started with Obama. We remember.

Geaorgie: Obama was clearly flustered when Romney's entire debate performance was transforming himself into a moderate who simply denied everything he's campaigned on for the last 1 1/2 years. Obama was prepared to debate Romney on what he stated hundreds of times as his plan not on the Romney that arrives denying it all. Romney spent weeks practicing his techniques, Obama a few hours a couple of times expecting to simply be presidential and contrasting facts not debate a Romney who simply twisted or denied everything even practicing facial emotions when Obama pointed out past claims by Romney.

ROMNEY SHOWED DURING THE DEBATE THAT HE IS STILL BOTH ROMNEYS, BECOMING THE NEW ETCH A SKETCH ROMNEY DENYING EVERYTHING HE SAID BEFORE THE DEBATE. COUNTLESS VIDEOS PROVE EVERYTHING HE SAID HE WASN'T DURING DEBATES PROVES HE WAS AND WAS LYING.

HAS ROMNEY SHOWN ANY LEADERSHIP SINCE REPUBLICONS ANNOUNCED HIM AS THEIR CANDIDATE? HAS HE PUBLICLY INSTRUCTED REPUBS TO PASS ANY BILLS THAT WOULD BE GOOD FOR AMERICA?

ROMNEY HIRED 17 OF 24 ADVISERS FROM BUSH/CHENEY REGIME BECAUSE ROVE TOLD HIM TO! ROMNEY IS ONLY THE STRAWMAN FOR HIS LEADER ROVE WHO WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN LYING INTO IRAQ WAR FOR PROFITS AND WRECKING THE ECONOMY!

Did Romney try and help out the vets when repubs blocked the Vets job bill last week? NOPE!

Did Romney try and help American workers get American jobs back when repubs blocked the bill to remove tax breaks from companies who took jobs overseas? NOPE!

Did Romney try and help American workers get their jobs back when repubs blocked the bill that would give tax breaks to companies who would bring back the jobs to America? NOPE!

Did Romney try and help the first responders to 911 healthcare bill when repubs blocked and voted against that bill? NOPE!

Well hell you can see where this is going....so let's just stop right here. The strawman has shown no leadership whatsoever. NONE! He has done nothing for America but drain jobs away from hard working Americans. He wants to kill Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Post Office. Mitt wants to dismantle and sell off America to the highest bidder and run the money offshore to avoid paying taxes.

WHY WOULD WE WANT ROVE/BUSH/CHENEY UNDER STRAWMAN ROMNEY IN THE WHITE HOUSE AGAIN?

Vote President Obama/Biden and Team Democratic party 2012! REAL LEADERS!

Mr. Obama lost in the meet.

All Mr. Obama needs right now to restore his confidence is 2 and 1/2 hour of debate in front of America with his opponent removed from the picture. And we all know how that works.

howaboutthis: Keep playing the race card, it is the only card you have left to play. But sooner or later people will get real tired of seeing it played. If I disagree with the president, I must be a racist.

If I disagree with Barney Frank, does that make me a homophobe?

If I disagree with Netanyahu, does that make me an anti-Semite?

We should all just agree with whatever the president does or says so we won't hurt anyone's feelings and won't be called a racist for which there is no defense.

Kind of like asking, "so Howaboutthis, when did you finally stop beating your wife?"

It isn't just the Democrats calling Romney a liar. It's the independent fact checkers that debunked almost everything he stated as facts. Obama also got a spanking for not being totally accurate on some things, but there's still a big difference between stretching the truth a bit and outright lying and repeating things that are pure fabrication.

Apparently the Romney supporters feel that all is fair to win an election, but that bounce from the debate will fade away as people find out how what they liked hearing Romney say was all a pack of lies and that Paul Ryan doesn't fare any better when held to the truth meter. People aren't that stupid. They like to hear what they already believe in but they also want it to be truthful, and don't like being mislead and lied to.

There are a lot of other important issues in this campaign and I have left many posts, but I brought up the race issue because that is EXACTLY what it is. An issue. You may be from a city or an area where it isn't a big deal, but I am not. It is a big deal from where I am and it should NOT be. There are a vast amount of people not voting or hoping he doesn't win because he is black and if you don't realize that, than you need to check OUTSIDE your circle.

TheOverlord:

With such a grandiose screen name, one would think that you’d at least understand the principals of debate. Clearly, your name is more nonsense, then substance.

A debate is an intellectual contest, and, like every contest, there is a winner and there is a loser. And in this contest, Barrack Hussein Obama was, without question, the loser.

To use your words, the huge problem here is that when things don’t go the way that all Liberal Democrats/Socialists expect it to go, you start making excuses, or you start playing the blame game, just as Obama does when things don’t go his way.

Romney flip-flopped, or he lied, or he did this, or he did that; what he did, actually, was kick Obama’s Harvard educated ass, up one side and down the other, and that just sticks in your craw, doesn’t it, Overlord? You need to stop whining about it like a little girl, and man up. Obama was overwhelmed by the facts.

If Obama was confronted by lies, then why didn’t the Harvard educated lawyer respond like the intelligent man everyone thinks he is? Either Romney was telling the truth and Obama could not respond to the truth, or Obama was just plain befuddled by Romney’s bullshirt.

Just accept the fact that debates are indeed won and lost, and Obama lost, and he will lose every debate, and ultimately, thank God, he will lose the election.

Because of the Republican's masses of low information voters there is plenty of GOP support for small government when it comes to cutting taxes on the wealthy, limiting regulation of big business, gutting environmental regulations, weakening legal protections for workers and racial minorities, and slashing government funding for public education, public health, and social welfare services. But there is a common denominator to this kind of small government action. It is all designed to serve the interests of the wealthy and powerful at the expense of everyone else. Thus, the Republican Party opposes government alleviation of hunger through the distribution of food stamps, but supports government subsidies to corporations.

Fire works? Is it just me or does Romney seem a bit too smug and confident? One debate does not end an election; it is historically shown that the challenger almost always does well in the first debate. Even Regan got trounced in his first debate.

What Romney needs to focus on is not flopping anymore like he did during the debate. The first thing my uncle, who is a die hard Republican, said while the debate was going was "what the Hell?" when Romney said he was not cutting taxes by 5 trillion.

Romney came out looking good last night and it is something they can build on, but they are making a mountain out of a small hill. We will know more by Tuesday of Wednesday of next week but I am fairly confident that while Romney will gain some ground it will not be too much. At max 3% nationally.

Nope, Geowil

Still, it seems likely that Mr. Romney will make at least some gains in head-to-head polls after the debate, and entirely plausible that they will be toward the high end of the historical range, in which polls moved by about three percentage points toward the candidate who was thought to have the stronger debate.

Still with the blame, I see. Watched part of Letterman tonight for Oblameo's TopTenExcuses; absolutely hysterical! And that from a man who has professed a profound hatred for Obozo.

Big Al "I Created the Internet" Gore jumped in to excuse Obummer's dreadful performance last night by blaming it on the altitude. Maybe there was a windmill from a wind energy farm planted under Obutthead's podium and that's what he kept looking down at.

Maybe Obumbum can blame his pathetic performance on Bush. After all, he has tried to blame everything else on Bush. Or maybe Obamney just doesn't want the job anymore; wouldn't that be horrible news for all of his bunghole buddies? I can hear the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth just one county over.

Pigotry wroet: "If not blocked by Republicans in Congress, many of Obama initiatives would have worked to create more jobs." You beg the question. Unless you're clairvoyant, you have no way of knowing that Obama's initiatives would have worked. They could have just as easily failed as all his other attempts to jump start the economy have failed.

Based on Obama's poor economic track record, it would not be unreasonable to believe that the Republicans in Congress prevented Obama from causing more Americans from going on unemployment and thus, losing their homes and their cars and their families.

I'll be more than happy to answer that one Kannin. Because most of us know that if the republicans in Congress pull that obstructionist crap again during the first half of Obama's second term. Mid elections 2014 will find them jobless. The one's whose terms are up for renewal this election had better have fear for their chairs. I think a majority of us, democrats and independents (probably even a measurable number of centrist republicans too) are fed up to the gills with that plot and scheme of obstructionism. We'll see anyhow.

Obama's "my way or the highway" approach to negotiation (remember "We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back") made it clear he wasn't going to change. When he used his super-majority in the House and Senate to push through bills that not a single Republican could support, his response was to call them "the party of no." While many Democrats picked up that little slogan - further deepening the rift in the legislature - Obama never stopped to consider that by totally rejecting Republican concerns, he was creating a deep smoldering resentment in the people he had so disrespected. A resentment that would come back to bite him when the American people repudiated one-party government in 2010.

There was no "obstructionist crap", and most people recognize that the congressional gridlock is 90% due to Obama's childish intransigence.

Even MSNBC has reported: "In 2008, Barack Obama, as a presidential candidate, made changing that culture (of divisiveness) a signature objective; if anything, it has grown more dysfunctional during his presidency."

Look, the situation is bad. It was made worse by the current administration. Neither party has been stellar in their behavior since 2001. Now, if the democratic party made it worse, then we need to do is get the whole thing to the republicans to reverse the current direction. Remember all the polices including the ACA are not fully implimented. All the republican majority in the house did was STOP any more legislation promoting this wrong direction to be stopped. Those paying attention know that what gains we have had in the last 2 years started after they were elected in 2010.

Now, if the republicans don't show they are returning the government to a reasonable state within 18 months, then we have to get a legitimate third party moving or continuing to run between two parties that have the wrong answers.

DBAkron,

I agree that performance matters. In early 2009, when our nation was facing financial ruin, one party stood up and did what was best for America. The other party obstructed positive efforts to help economy. Then these Republicans lied about the stimulus, which did end the downward spiral (-8.5% growth 4th quarter 2008) we were in.

Fast forward to 2010 where Republican lies about stimulus, ACA, and Medicare propelled them to victory. They then proceeded to effectively block further stimulus needed to keep recovery at 4% growth rate to quickly return laid off American workers to employment. Economists tell us that to cut government spending in time of high unemployment is just plain wrong.

Look at Europe. They did austerity there and many countries are already in recession. Even Germany with its strong export performance on things for the rich of the world (BMW, Mercedes) only grew at .3% in 2nd quarter. They may soon be in recession.

Thus, Republicans succeeded in slowing our growth rate with their wrong headed austerity vision for America in a time of high unemployment.

The choice in this election could not be more clear.

OBAMA 2012......with a Democratic Congress.....for a return to prosperity guided by sound economic principles.

Ol_Doc - Every president has to transcend partisan politics. Some are good at it and some, like Obama, are absolute failures.

JFK, despite his faults, was probably the last president we have had that was truly capable of shrugging off the inevitable attacks, calming the conflicts, and inspiring all Americans to put their differences aside and work toward common goals.

By contrast, Obama has fought bitterly against those who would criticize him, ignited conflict, and emphasized the differences among us.

Even MSNBC has reported: "In 2008, Barack Obama, as a presidential candidate, made changing that culture (of divisiveness) a signature objective; if anything, it has grown more dysfunctional during his presidency."

I believe Romney, who had an 86% Democrat legislature in MA, is capable of reuniting our country again.

Forget freedom of speech when there is an inconvenient truth or a person with conviction and an opposing point of view. Obviously the Debate format was designed to inhibit the Orator!

        This debate illustrated key issues.

President Obama is a Bigger government Federalist who wants to punish success and reward the Unions, Specifically the teachers Union according to his Statements Last night. President Obama’s answer to health care is to punish the health care providers! (Doctors) He said so again last night! He could not defend his $60 billion dollar effort with failed green energy or his $176 billion cut in Medicare to support Obama Care. There was no mention of the 47% because we all know that as a statement taken out of context. If we continue to Abort the next generation at the rate of 4 million per year, we will not need those teachers!!!! It sure was nice of him to include Michelle and their anniversary! Yawn!

Romney wants to increase Tax Revenues by creating more Tax Payers by creating JOBS in the Private Sector. He has been saying this all along.

He also said he wants to consolidate government agencies, to save money and streamline the redundancies in the Federal Government, and improve competition in health care by Getting big government out of the way and returning sovereignty to the States to make their own decisions. Romney used the examples of Health care and schools in Massachusetts as his personal models of a successful effort.

He also Pointed out that Four years of Obama’s Policies are not working. They have never worked in the history of the world!

Perhaps in the next Debate the topics could be:

Fast and furious, immigration Reform, SEIU, or Man Made Global warming or Obama sent General Electric and General Motors to China. They are making Cadillac in China! Obama also rewarded his special list of Cronies with dispersments from the stimulus! Obama has denigrated our military, our Embassies, our Allies, and our Churches. I do not understand how any Woman, Gay, Jewish or Christian can support anyone who supports Sharia? He is aiding the Muslim Brotherhood and the Progressives move toward a one world order! As far as your Libelous statements on the blogs, learn for yourself about Romney. He is responsible for the creation of Millions of happy endings in the Private sector at Bain Capital and elsewhere.

America is a Democratic Republic of states.

The federalists want to control the Human spirit and create a dependency to the state by subsidizing the constituency!

Republicans want the government to get out of the way so The spirit and drive of the Individual can succeed!

        Afirmative Action is Discrimination

First of all President Obama had more time to speak than Mitt Romney, Four More Minutes. The President just does not have the answers to defend his policies or his record

And our President's words were more substantive too. At Last Night's Debate: Romney Told 27 Myths In 38 Minutes:

"[G]et us energy independent, North American energy independent. That creates about 4 million jobs".

        "I don't have a $5 trillion tax cut. I don't have a tax cut of a scale that you're talking about."

"My view is that we ought to provide tax relief to people in the middle class. But I'm not going to reduce the share of taxes paid by high-income people."

"My — my number-one principal is, there will be no tax cut that adds to the deficit. I want to underline that: no tax cut that adds to the deficit."

"I will not under any circumstances raise taxes on middle-income families. I will lower taxes on middle-income families. Now, you cite a study. There are six other studies that looked at the study you describe and say it's completely wrong."

"I saw a study that came out today that said you're going to raise taxes by $3,000 to $4,000 on middle-income families.

"And the reason is because small business pays that individual rate; 54 percent of America's workers work in businesses that are taxed not at the corporate tax rate, but at the individual tax rate….97 percent of the businesses are not — not taxed at the 35 percent tax rate, they're taxed at a lower rate. But those businesses that are in the last 3 percent of businesses happen to employ half — half of all the people who work in small business."

"Mr. President, all of the increase in natural gas and oil has happened on private land, not on government land. On government land, your administration has cut the number of permits and licenses in half."

"The president's put it in place as much public debt — almost as much debt held by the public as all prior presidents combined."

"That's why the National Federation of Independent Businesses said your plan will kill 700,000 jobs. I don't want to kill jobs in this environment."

"What we do have right now is a setting where I'd like to bring money from overseas back to this country."

"I would like to take the Medicaid dollars that go to states and say to a state, you're going to get what you got last year, plus inflation, plus 1 percent, and then you're going to manage your care for your poor in the way you think best."

"I want to take that $716 billion you've cut and put it back into Medicare…. But the idea of cutting $716 billion from Medicare to be able to balance the additional cost of Obamacare is, in my opinion, a mistake.

"What I support is no change for current retirees and near-retirees to Medicare

"Number two is for people coming along that are young, what I do to make sure that we can keep Medicare in place for them is to allow them either to choose the current Medicare program or a private plan. Their choice. They get to choose — and they'll have at least two plans that will be entirely at no cost to them."

"And, by the way the idea came not even from Paul Ryan or — or Senator Wyden, who's the co-author of the bill with — with Paul Ryan in the Senate, but also it came from Bill — Bill Clinton's chief of staff."

"Well, I would repeal and replace it. We're not going to get rid of all regulation. You have to have regulation. And there are some parts of Dodd-Frank that make all the sense in the world

"But I wouldn't designate five banks as too big to fail and give them a blank check. That's one of the unintended consequences of Dodd-Frank… We need to get rid of that provision because it's killing regional and small banks. They're getting hurt."

"And, unfortunately, when — when — when you look at Obamacare, the Congressional Budget Office has said it will cost $2,500 a year more than traditional insurance. So it's adding to cost."

"[I]t puts in place an unelected board that's going to tell people ultimately what kind of treatments they can have. I don't like that idea."

"Right now, the CBO says up to 20 million people will lose their insurance as Obamacare goes into effect next year. And likewise, a study by McKinsey and Company of American businesses said 30 percent of them are anticipating dropping people from coverage."

"I like the way we did it [health care] in Massachusetts…What were some differences? We didn't raise taxes."

"It's why Republicans said, do not do this, and the Republicans had — had the plan. They put a plan out. They put out a plan, a bipartisan plan. It was swept aside."

"Preexisting conditions are covered under my plan."

"In one year, you provided $90 billion in breaks to the green energy world. Now, I like green energy as well, but that's about 50 years' worth of what oil and gas receives."

"I think about half of [the green firms Obama invested in], of the ones have been invested in have gone out of business. A number of them happened to be owned by people who were contributors to your campaigns.

"If the president's reelected you'll see dramatic cuts to our military."

Hey Bev, (Or any other Progressive Socialist Utopian DreamMeister) Can you Please answer one question for me? Okay maybe a second...After we have destroyed The American concept of free enterprise and the ability to get ahead on the Merits of one's own efforts and abilities and replace it with something yet to be determined, What will be the expected contribution of the individual to ensure the continued success, survival, and safety of the group in our futuristic Utopia?

It would seem to me that when you have 47% of your community getting by with limited contributions it maybe hard to provide a level of universal incentive without the threat of physical inconvenience.

IMHO, Obama was thrown off by the fact that a Democrat showed up to debate him. Romney showed up as the champion of the middle class, stated that free markets needed regulations, and seemed to promised tax cuts for everyone except the one percent. The tax cuts were confusing...he floundered between yes he would cut taxes, and no he never said that. The comment that he wouldn't cut any taxes that would add to the deficit, is a way of saying no tax cuts. I was pretty confused myself, till I realized the etch a sketch had just reset. I do however find it funny that the conservatives are falling all over themselves crowing about their "liberal" candidate!

And...in case you missed it, he admited to shipping jobs overseas...so that begs to question, is that where he plans to magically create all those jobs he says he is going to create?

        No, telcogirl

Romney did to Obama what he did to Gingrich. He let Obama say whatever he wanted about him and Bain, and was waiting for the opportunity to show the nation how bad the Obama & left logic really is. When ALL avenues are actually put on the table, it is clearly wrong.

The most profound thing about Romney was he understood specifics about Frank-Dodd that Obama had no idea were even in the bill and he signed it!

I said for several months on this site, that this is what Romney would do. I got collapsed and defamed for it. Don't delude yourself that he won't be able to do that with foreign policy too. I see exactly where that one will be fought, and again. Hint: 9/11/2012 for one.

And...in case you missed it, he admited to shipping jobs overseas...so that begs to question

That is really stretching what he said. He never off shored jobs while at Bain, but his successor has, and has done so grandly. What he is telling you is that if there was such a break he certainly would have considered it. After, all, the government is permitting it by law.

You are putting words in his mouth that simply aren't there. It's amazing what people will do when they want to believe something!

Well, DB when the discussion of shipping jobs overseas and benefiting from tax breaks came up, Romney said something to the effect of "maybe he needed a new accountant because he had never gotten that tax break." So was he saying he never shipped jobs overseas, or was he saying he did, and failed to get that tax break? He changes stories so much it is hard to keep up!

telcogirl- Yep, there are two reasons you can never tell what Romney's really saying.

        1) He changes his stance for every audience (wide one with the base, narrow in public), and

        2) He uses 'weasel words" like "I need a new accountant" instead of answering the question.

Notice what he said about his tax cut. He didn't say that he DOESN'T plan to cut $5 trillion in taxes.

What he SAID was that he doesn't plan to add it to the deficit.

Now, anybody who can do arithmetic knows there aren't enough "loopholes and deductions" to pay for $5 trillion in tax cuts.

So, what Romney is saying is that the REST is coming out of the FEDERAL BUDGET. From food stamps, unemployment benefits, infrastructure funds, Medicaid, education funding, etc. etc. (Notice how he talks about the STATES doing those things. With what money?)

So we should ask ourselves - are we willing to give up all that to give millionaires ANOTHER tax break?

Because that's the bottom line, folks.

However, the following is a true non-partisan report. President Obama earned 1 Pinocchio and Willard Romney earned 3 Pinocchio. From Fact Checker:

First, the Romney ad. The “independent, nonpartisan” organization cited by the Romney campaign is the American Enterprise Institute, which bills itself as “committed to expanding liberty, increasing individual opportunity and strengthening free enterprise.” A who’s who of Republican heavyweights — such as Richard Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Marc Thiessen, Danielle Pletka, John Yoo, and John Bolton — is affiliated with it, but in order to maintain its tax status as a 501(c)3 organization it cannot proclaim any political affiliation.

AEI is one of the top think tanks in Washington, and its scholars are respected and not ideologically consistent. But most people would regard it as right-leaning.

The Romney campaign probably wants to tag AEI as nonpartisan because the group that produced the study that Obama cited, the Tax Policy Center, often is described as nonpartisan. The Tax Policy Center is affiliated with the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution — and Brookings is frequently seen as the left’s counterpart to AEI. The Tax Policy Center has staff who have served in administrations of both parties. Indeed, the Romney campaign once referred to another Tax Policy Center study as an “objective, third-party analysis.”

The difficulty is that there is no fully detailed Romney plan that explains how he would reconcile his twin goals of reducing tax rates across the board and then closing enough loopholes to make it revenue neutral. The Tax Policy Center concluded it could not be done without raising taxes on the middle class — hence the Democratic ads — but the head of the Tax Policy Center cautioned: “I don’t interpret this as evidence that Governor Romney wants to increase taxes on the middle class in order to cut taxes for the rich, as an Obama campaign ad claimed. Instead, I view it as showing that his plan can’t accomplish all his stated objectives.”

This is where the new Obama ad falls short, because it states as a fact that he will “give the wealthy huge new tax breaks.” He says that is not his plan, though he has not shown how he will achieved his claimed goal of not giving large tax cuts to the rich.

Moreover, Romney has been inconsistent in describing the impact of his tax plan on the wealthy. In this week’s debate, he declared, “I will not reduce the taxes paid by high-income Americans.” But in the GOP Arizona debate in February, he said: “We're going to cut taxes on everyone across the country by 20 percent, including the top 1 percent.”

In this battle of campaign ads, the Obama campaign comes out ahead because it accurately describes the Tax Policy Center study as posing an either-or proposition — raising taxes or boosting the deficit. But it goes too far in claiming that Romney would give the wealthy huge new tax breaks, when he insists that is not the case — and the head of the Tax Policy Center says the study has been misinterpreted.

By contrast, the Romney campaign really pushes the envelope to claim the AEI study shows that Obama “will raise taxes on the middle class.” That’s not what the study says....

          Re: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/dueling-studies-in-new-ads-by-romney-and-obama/2012/10/04/0fd4f6ac-0e72-11e2-bb5e-492c0d30bff6_blog.html:

You beg the question. You assume that fear mongering is the reason why NRA members pay their dues. Can you provide any verifiable evidence to support your argument?

Next, you claim: "The NRA get millions in dues by fearmongering, "They will take your guns away." To ratify a constitutional ammendment takes 75% of congress and 75% of states to ratify said change (sic)." Sorry, but you know even less about constitutional law, than you do about the NRA.

Article V of the Constitutional provides that a constitutional amendment can be proposed by a 2/3 pro vote of Congress, or by a constitutional convention called for by a pro vote of 2/3 of all state legislatures (38 of 50) (Internet Document:http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/constitution/). 66% is not 75%; apparently, you're not too good at math either.

Our POTUS will use this in the next debates. romoney bullied to mediator and the POTUS to me himself look like a want to be president for the 100% ,but says other private events while at fundraisers. let rrmoney rant and rave while facts will speak for themselvs. As always lies will get up with you Jeepers how to you look at yourself in the mirror in the a.m.

It won't be hard to gain momentum, Romney blew Obama out of the water and showed Obama's flaw's (anything where he doesn't have his TelePrompTer) and showed who the real candidate is.

            I wonder why:

If words are for you to be written with meaning, then a dictionary is published for you to be reading.

To twisting you are for words making painful. In Transylvania you are to be Shakespeare. In America, you are ca ca. Learning to understood the English should be for knowledge you want to be gaining.

Talking politics for others is tomorrow a test of wisdom to come from writing many times ideas of complicated hypotheses. The scientific method should be your goal. Until then, shut up.

Romney blowing Obama out of the water shows how weak carreer politicians are. They only have theories that they learned. You often do not truely understand something until you live it!

Obama only beat McCain because he looked better, and sounded better, not because he was better. Add that to the anger of the Voter over the mortgages, well that's how you get someone worse than what you had.

So now all you Liberals are seriously going to start shouting out "Romney Hates Big Bird"? You've got to be kidding me....

"I like PBS, I love Big Bird -- I actually like, you too [Jim]"

He loves Big Bird. So now that we've established that most important issue, perhaps you'd like to take issue with the man's POLICIES?

(P.S. I hate Big Bird. The only one of those creatures I hate more than Big Bird is that stuttering idiot Baby Bear who's been babbling like an infant for YEARS on that show. Burt and Ernie can stay. Oscar can stay. The humans can stay. Cookie Monster can stay. But if someone's gonna hit the road, Big Bird is very high on my list of candidates for the walk-out.)

Sorry, Buckyboy, but if Big Bird and Lehrer can't stand on their own, they must go. PBS needs to work harder on gaining contributions rather than sucking on the public teat.

Every government program needs to be shaken until light and air both enter. Then we can see and smell and, if the view and smell are bad, the program needs to go.

Oh, and I happen to like Big Bird, but we can't afford him as a government program anymore. We need to decide program by program what works and what doesn't and dump the ones that don't work.

Policies... well, when Romney wants to cut funding for children's educational programming, that is, in fact, a "policy" -- a policy that many Liberals, including myself, find objectionable.

As for the "Romney Hates Big Bird" issue-- That is merely a symbol of Romney's policy to cut public funding for PBS, including Sesame Street.

Now please... Sit down, take a deep breath, and think. Respond with intelligence, rather than react with emotion, to what we Liberals are saying. You'll feel calmer, and maybe, just maybe, we can have a genuine dialogue rather than a mudslinging contest for once!

I must admit Mitt is a skillful liar, but he has had so much practice in business and both primaries that he is now professional. He looked right at McCain in the same way at their final debate in 2008, and lied as if McCain was not inhabiting his body.

If you have a real concern about the economy, then be consistant every year, not just when a democrat is in office!! You can't be an apologist for one president and attack another if you "Really" care about this country! Where were you and your demands to fix things from 2005-2008 when our economy was going to hell?

GWB inherited a surplus and turned it into what?

Obama inherited a mess and all of you want instant fix!!!

Obama is playing a good game of poker, let your opponent win the first hand and buildup his confidence so he throws more money in the pot, then drops Thors hammer on him in the next debate, and the third debate, Romney won't know anything but chewing on his own feet.

How exactly does raising taxes on the employers (majority of people earning over $250,000/year) create jobs??? Answer: It doesn't, it kills jobs. Obama says build the economy from the middle? The middle is the employee not the employer. How exactly do employees create jobs? The economy was circling the toilet for 2 years and his total focus was on socializing health care. Obama had one of the worst voting record in the senate. He never proposed one piece of legislation as a Senator. The only decisions he knows how to or is willing to make are bad ones. He has never run any business in his life. His spiritual adviser of 20 years preached god damn America and basically "Kill Whitey". He initially refused to salute the American flag or even put his hand over his heart during the national anthem until forced by his party to do so. He wouldn't even wear a flag pin on his lapel to show support for the troops until his party forced him to do it. Not one person from his college graduating class remembers him. Not one prior girlfriend has ever come forward. He refuses to release transcripts. He has spent over 2 million to withhold his birth certificate. As a child he worshiped as a muslim. He is anti American & anti Capitalism to the core! He is a Socialist at heart. He said he would cut the deficit in half in 4 years. Instead he doubled it. He said give me 1 TRILLION dollars or we will have 8% unemployment. He got his trillion and we went to 10% and two years later we are still above his threatened 8%. He complains about 2.5 billion/year in subsidies to oil companies (to encourage high risk of loss drilling) but he has given away 25 billion/year in subsidies to green energy companies who have mostly gone under. Why stay in business when the government just threw a treasure chest at your feet with no accountability. Romney manages the state with the best schools in the country as Governor + every person in his state has health insurance without raising taxes. He has a history of making good and successful decisions in politics and business + bringing the parties together as he did in his state. Give America a chance, Give Romney your vote! PLEASE

The pundits and networks want to turn this into a horse race...if you "really" watched the debate, Romney made several attacks which can be proved to be factually incorrect...Obama's problem is that he did not call him out, I think he is letting Romney dig his own hole...he will have to account for the walkbacks and lies, also when Obama countered Romney/Ryan medicare voucher program, he completely exposed the flaws of the program perfectly, again Obama's problem was it came out dry and clinical, the Low Information Voters dont respond to that, they respond to bluster...

Mitt Romney demonstrated far more than a command of facts, figures and debating skills last night. What he accomplished reveals the way he faces challenges, and that is far more important than simply winning this one debate.

Romney worked very hard in preparation. He applied his superior intelligence. He planned ahead accurately and effectively. He executed his plan flawlessly. And those are the characteristics of a true leader.

                  Fact Check:

OBAMA: It's important "that we take some of the money that we're saving as we wind down two wars to rebuild America."

THE FACTS: This oft-repeated claim is based on a fiscal fiction. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were paid for mostly with borrowed money, so stopping them doesn't create a new pool of available cash that can be used for something else, like rebuilding America. It just slows down the government's borrowing.

I'm an independent. I am voting for Romney. He is enough unlike Bush and I take him at his word that he will try hard to reduce the deficit. I do not believe Obama would try as hard.

The real question is: has Oblameo tried at all to reduce the deficit?

And the answer comes back as a resounding NO!

Annual budget deficits are higher than they every have been and are still rising. Our total debt has increased almost $7 trillion in 4 years. We have become the laughing stock of the world. Oblameo sends a woman (Hilary) into areas of the world to meet with leaders who still consider women to be property (great foreign policy, I can hardly wait for that debate). We have 23 million unemployed and 47 million on food stamps. More workers are losing their jobs every day. Companies of all sizes are afraid to hire with their huge cash surpluses because they don't know which way the wind is going to blow for another 33 days. Socialists are taking over our government with a tactic that one of Obama's confidants calls "creeping socialism."

Can we handle 4 more for 44? Again, the resounding answer is: NO!

Vote Romney/Ryan 2012 Hope for a real Change that we can count on to move us Forward

You saw that with Obama on the David Letterman show - he said we can worry about the deficit and the national debt later. I guess that means after he has made them much larger. He didn't even know how big they were. I wonder if that moron has even thought about what will happen to the country's debt service burden after interest rates go up and he causes the country's credit rating to be downgraded a few more times. He probably thinks that will be his parting gift to Hillary. What a toxic dufus!

Last I checked, Romney hadn't raised the federal deficit one cent. I hope you realize that "the deficit" is, to a first approximation, the difference for a specific year, between federal government receipts and expenditures. It does not include supplemental appropriations. To get a number that includes those, you subtract beginning total debt from ending total debt. This is somewhat blurred by the difference between cash and accrual accounting. The point, which you have apparently missed, is that Romey would reduce the deficit over time until the budget is balanced by 2040 (i.e., neither a surplus nor a deficit) whereas Obama has the fiscal discipline of a hyperactive teenager on meth with a parent's credit card.

                    #17.6 - Fri Oct 5, 2012 1:04 PM EDT

Here are some ways that the next POTUS could eliminate the deficit in one year. Keep in mind that these are static analysis estimates - more on that later. He could cut half of Social Security. He could cut half of National Defense spending. He could eliminate three quarters of Medicare. He could more than double the corporate income tax. Any of these would eliminate that deficit. However, any of these would have other, unacceptable, consequences that would make the static analysis inaccurate. A static analysis assumes that everything else remains the same. This is generally (i.e., hardly ever, maybe never) true.

Consider that interest on the frederal debt was about 5.7% of the budget. Yield on a 1-year is 0.16%, on a 30-year is 2.96%. We have to refinance the debt every 2 or 3 years at current duration. When interest rates rise, as they surely will, that number will explode.

What happens in a bad economy is that government receipts (i.e., personal and corporate income taxes) go down and raising taxes in that environment exacerbates the problem. So, the best way to get out of the hole is to do things that promote growth. GROWTH COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS and it is probably the only thing that will get us on the road to recovery.

Bush, whom I don't think did a very good job on the economy, had the dotcom implosion and 9/11 to deal with. Unemployment averaged 5.3% under Bush. Obama had the mortgage meltdown to deal with. I would lay that one at the feet of Fannie, Freddie, Barney Frank ("roll the dice some more"), their enablers (mostly Democrats, Bush wanted to reign in Fannie and Freddie), dishonest borrowers, underwriters, credit raters, and investment bankers, and stupid investors. Under Obama, unemployment may, if the numbers weren't cooked, have dropped below 8% for the first time in something like 43 months. Obama has no clue and no plan - that was pretty evident in the debate.

I hope that gives you some idea of the immediacy of the problem.

Let's start with those that are receiving government contracts, and over runs that cost Billions just check out military contracts.(NO MORE) Then turn to the billions that it is costing the taxpayers for the expresidents pensions and cost of living including telephone bills. Next Check out the pensions and cost of living the retired members of the Supreme Court receives. senators and members of the house that have voted themselves every accomadation including hair cuts, suites, travel, you name it, you the taxpayer pays for it.You the taxpayer are paying for all those vote- for- me ads mailed from their office federal or state. In fact, the republicans, now call corporate reps. make no secret of the fact they no longer work for the people that elected them (remember the American taxpayer) They now work only for the corporations both american and foreign.

So lets start where the money is being spent and with those that are reaping the rewards. Did you the tax payer agree to make those you elected rich? Why do you think all the old political hacks that have been voted out of office is hanging around being paid off by corporations to sell a barrell of manaure as the thing you need for your future.

We worked and paid for our social security and our medicare as our children are doing today. social security was supposed to be in trust and invested instead every politican dipped their sticky fingers into the cash with a no IOU note. that is stealing! Now they go for the bigger payoff, billionaires, millionaires, Corporations, buy their vote and they sell you the big bag of manuare.

My mother is looking forward to the vouchers; she likes the idea of having options that won't change the system at all. The only difference is people can decide to add to them and get premium care through private insurance companies coverage instead of the substandard care we will have forced upon us under "Obamacare".

My sister in law is a head LPN at a major hospital, she is spitting mad about what "Obamacare" is going to do to the medical industry. She is of the belief that if Obamacare goes through, a lot of smart people will opt for professions not in the medical field as well. That will further harm our already strained medical system.

                        You're 18 ? It shows. I am fifty.

Every American should have watched the debate. Romney cleaned Obama's clock. If you leave the room and just listen to the words, the tone of voice, and the overall dialogue of Mitt Romney you can hear Ronald Reagan. I was amazed at how much they have in common. Ronald saved this country once, he pulled it out of the clutches of total devastation. I hope all AMERICAN CITIZENS have enough common sense to see actual intelligence versus rhetoric and a charming likeable personality. That is not enough to save america.

Kath, I guess for the same reason all you liberals believe Obama's blatant lies! Cutting taxes for the so called rich also cuts taxes for the middle class as well. It's cutting taxes across the board moron! I guess you really enjoy having your money taken from you and put into government's useless programs. So let me ask, how much money over and above what your taxes were last year, (and I am only assuming you actually paid any taxes), did you send into the government out of the goodness of your heart? You do realize you can do that, so before you expect others to pay, why not put your money where your mouth is.

Listened to Clinton: Get the Arithmetic! Romneys numbers do not add up and that makes 5 trillion. Now he wants to have every program and it will not cost us anything! Romney Math that does not add up? Same as with his tax records, he hides money in the Cayman's so he does not declare it here, this guy is a flip fraud all the way. What a horrible thought to have this guy in the white house, he makes promises to every leader in the world and everything goes astray.

You want US to listen to Clinton for the truth? "I did not have sex with that woman!" Does that sound familiar to you? Clinton pointed his finger, and looked directly into the camera, and lied to every American who was ever born, and will ever be born an American. And now you want us to take him at his word? Are you kidding?

I see campaign photos of Obama and Clinton standing together, arm-in-arm, and I say to myself: Birds of a feather standing together.

They are two liars: One has shovel ready jobs that don't exist for desperate American workers, and the other has a slightly used, funny smelling cigar that he wants to sell you.

Romney's taxes and where he keeps his money are irrelevant; those are the side issues that Obama uses to redirect your attention away from his dismal economic record as president. The real issue is jobs for American workers.

Use your head. Who is more likely to come up with a plan that creates jobs for Americans? A businessman who has experience putting together financial packages for new businesses, or a community organizer who has never held a job in the private sector in his life?

President Obama's reelection campaign, rattled by his Wednesday night debate performance, could be in for even worse news. According to knowledgeable sources, a national magazine and a national web site are preparing a blockbuster donor scandal story.

Sources told Secrets that the Obama campaign has been trying to block the story. But a key source said it plans to publish the story Friday or, more likely, Monday.

According to the sources, a taxpayer watchdog group conducted a nine-month investigation into presidential and congressional fundraising and has uncovered thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations to Obama and Capitol Hill, allegedly from unsecure accounts, and many from overseas. That might be a violation of federal election laws.

And if you look it up on politifact, you'll see that Obama even had a few more than Romney. But don't let the facts bother you. Obama lost the debate and you libs will look for any reason to spin it.

Fact is, Obama has failed us and it's time to try again. We can't afford another 5.5 TRILLION dollars for Obama to throw around.

Just a few of so many really great tweets:

*Even Jon Stewart said last night that Obama should "...familiarize himself with the presidency!"

*This is how POTUS picks up the pieces. Still no new ideas, just personal attacks. How crass.

*One thing POTUS can't fix is his partisanship. Romney shined on the bi-partisan issue among everything else!

*AARP objects to Obama invoking group's support during debate

                            * Too bad Elmo and Big Bird can't vote! Obama could use it!

*Romney illustrated well his bi-partisanship nature and experience. Pres. Obama just continued to divide with biz as usual.

*Big Bird was the farthest thing from Obama's mind last night, it was more like a Big Dam! (Hoover Dam)

*What was Obama thinking when his head was down for so much of the debate?

*Mitt Romney may be an etch-a-sketch, but it beats the hell out of Obama's whack a mole from last night.

*Wonder what, if any, will be Obama's Lazarus moment?

*Obama was confusing, repetitious, inaccurate and overgeneralizing. Romney was congenial, clear, concise, and comprehensive.

                            * Mr. President, what would you do differently, if you could? Actually debate?

*Mr. President, Maybe the Hoover Dam wasn't such a good idea.

Romney's claiming that he was wrong about the 47 percent sound like Dubya's "compassionate conservative" nonsense. Don't fall for it middle class!!! A rich Republican is a rich Republican is a rich Republican. He is trying to slime his way into the Presidency so he can bend the middle class over just like any other rich Republican.

How'd that thar Compassionate Conservatism work out for ya'll from 2000 to 2008?

for many it did just fine, until obama and biden came into the picture, then they began to destroy that fine painting as like did the joker in batman when he went to meet vickie vale at that bistrol with his goons.

So who do WE THE PEOPLE Blame....THE REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plain and simple: The wealthy elite want no part of share and share alike with the fantastic amount of money they have hoarded since the times of Reaganomics. Getting Romney in office would allow for the complete gutting of money for the "non well-to-do". If you have needs - forget it. If you want to retire- forget it. If you get sick - go die in the ER - If you are unable to work - forget it. The "working class", whether middle, lower, or even mildly upper, will work until the day they die with no hope for enjoying life or ever relaxing and benefitting from the world money system.

To BerverlyChicago; I recently visited your city. Downtown looks nice, but your prices are extremely high. The Parking price in downtown Chicago is crazy. It gives me the perception that your politicians are dishonest. Enjoy it, but it too expensive for my wallet. It gave me a bittersweet taste. If Chicago is that expensive imagine if the Democrats continue running the Nation. We will be working hard to support other people's families instead of our own. I really do not like that idea. Romney/Ryan 2012.

                            Michael:

Apparently, either you have a biased understanding of American History, or you have no knowledge of it at all.

Democratic President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was so wealthy that he and his family ate off solid gold dinnerware. Google it.

JFK, in case you missed it, was another extremely wealthy Democrat, as was LBJ.

Jimmy Carter was moderately wealthy, and for some unexplained reason, Bill and Ugly Betty became wealthy while in office and much more since they left office, and Barrack Hussein Obama is himself, a multi-multi-millionaire.

Now, after you’ve mislead the readers about presidential wealth being a one sided Republican issue, you’re going to try to mislead the readers about the idea of compassionate conservatism. Why should anyone believe you?

You don’t offer to discuss the details of George Bush’s compassionate conservative approach to government, so how do we know that it’s nonsense? We can’t take your word for it, because we know that you’re biased and that you won’t hesitate to mislead the readers, so you’ll have to produce a better argument then: “Romney's claiming that he was wrong about the 47 percent sound like Dubya's "compassionate conservative" nonsense.” Moreover, what about Romney’s claim that he was wrong?

Again, the readers have no compelling reason to believe a word you say. In fact, after reading your comments, the readership has more reason to believe Romney, than they have to believe you.

Clearly, your fourth grade approach to discussion needs a little work. I mean really, did you even stop to think that some readers might be insulted by your condescending Southern accent? Not everyone is amused by a nine year old acting up in front of the adults.

Maybe in a few years, your mommy will let you wear big boy pants, and your dad will let you listen to the adults talk politics, if you promise to keep quiet.

Next thing you know, The Chicago Machine will release a tape of Mitt pulling buggers out of his nose when he was 10 years old. This campaign will get nastier than a mud wrestling match between Rachael Maddow & Ann Coulter.
