Subscribe to RSSCHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Returning to the home city of the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Joe Biden said that the two men on the GOP ticket have their wires crossed on whether or not the Obama administration has raised taxes.
"Even Romney had what we Catholics call an epiphany," Biden said of the GOP nominee's recent message slip on taxes. "Romney came out and ... said, 'they have not raised taxes on the middle class.' But apparently Paul Ryan has not gotten the memo!"
As the presidential candidates prepare for Wednesday's debate, Vice President Joe Biden spoke about the "buried" middle class, prompting the Romney campaign to suggest the President's policies are to blame. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.
Romney said last week at a campaign stop in Ohio that Obama intends to raise taxes, something the president "did not do in his first four years."
While Obama has not raised tax rates, he has signed legislation -- particularly his health care law -- that Republicans argue would yield major penalties for many middle class families.
Biden argued that the GOP, in contrast, would raise taxes on a middle class that has "been buried over the last four years."
That comment earned a scathing response from Republicans, who called it "a stunning admission" about the White House's economic policies.
"Vice President Biden made a stunning admission today and we couldn’t agree more: the middle class has been ‘buried’ under the last four years of this President’s policies," the Romney campaign wrote in a press release.
Biden, who acknowledged that riders on Air Force Two had "queasy stomachs" after a bumpy ride to North Carolina, kept the crowd of about 1000 waiting for an hour due to the inclement weather upon arrival.
His plane aborted one landing attempt In Charlotte because of storms in the area and was forced to circle the airport for about a half hour before landing without further incident.

Bidden only meant that middle class has suffered maximum from 2008 with shattered economy, Wall Street Housing Bubble, closing of industries one after the other, banking collapse, AIG losses, two wars going on, Bail out of Wall Street with billions of dollars with no gains but losses to old & retirees who lost their investment and younger generation losing jobs, dependence on state benefits, foreclosures & homelessness as well jobs. With GOP majority congress even unemployment benefits were always on cliff of breakdown. Auto industry too was closing making thousands jobless flooding the jobless market without improvement in technology with other competitors. It was Obama who had to bail out Auto industry with commitment from top CEOs to innovate, buy & develop competitive market & it worked very well. This is what Bidden impressed his audience with solid argument & true facts.

Lets get it straight...obmaa promised us high energy costs. He stated...Energy prices will rise. Gas has been expensive since he got into office which costs the American Middle Class and all Americans...higher food prices, high costs to drive vehicles and for other forms of transportation (buses, taxies, and etc) high prices for other commodities due to transportaton costs and etc. To say obama has not raised taxes...is BULL. When you are paying higher taxes on food and other commodies you are paying higher taxes on these inflated values. Americans who have lost their homes and/or are maintaining or paying mortgabges on high inflated values of their homes have been hurt or are hurting. The median income of the middle class from the Community Re-Investment Act passed under Bill Clinton and his democratic congresss has hurt Americans greatly. obama is not a good president.

You may also know these names as well, being they were in the Clinton Administration & also are or were in OH Bummers administration. Larry Sommers, Hank Paulson, Tim Geithner. You need to add Alan Greenspan to the list of Clintonites. All of these cretins shut her down, and were going to have her office closed and her fired. She did however resign. She had the answers, they would not listen

Hope if yo are thinking this way that you or your spouse or kids or parents or friends never have to go out and get healthcare with a preexisting condition!! It's next to impossible to get insurance coverage now with a preexisting condition but will be sooo much easier under Obamacare! Hope you never have a premature grandchild born and no insurance, hope you never have an autistic child in your family and can't get coverage for life!! Believe me, as someone in healthcare field, I KNOW FIRST HAND HOW WELL OBAMACARE WORKS NOW AND WILL WORK IN THE FUTURE AS PARTS COMING INTO USE!!! IT WORKS!!!

I doesn't work for me. I lost my Medicare Advantage Insurance TWICE in 2 years thanks to the PPACA. Now I have to pay more for less coverage.
Joe's right, the middle class was beaten up badly over the past four years mainly because the lame, stonewalling, obstructionist Republican Congress couldn't DO anything FOR the people! The Republicans passed over every Dem attempt at a jobs bill, but couldn't come up with one of their own! The Republicans wasted time reinventing abortion rights and beating down any Dem plans that would benefit women or veterans or college kids or child care but found plenty of support for bills continuing the War on Women!! Reagan took over from the Obama clone, Jimmy Carter, and fixed the mess in a little more than a year (and yes, it was an unbelievable economic and foreign policy debacle under Carter). A true leader doesn't blame others for the problem, he simply digs in and gets it done (see Mitt Romney's resume as someone that's "been there done that"!). Again my bear of little brain, if you had read my statement, I am referencing the U-6 Unemployment rate which includes the underemployed, those who have quit looking for employment, and those whose unemployment benefits have been exhausted. Then again, these are facts and I do understand that liberal like yourself rely solely on feelings when making decisions (like most women do). Guessing aren't a woman but probably, like Obama, have quite a few feminine tendencies.......
