Landing in Colorado on Monday night, Mitt Romney was greeted by the endorsement of John Elway at his only scheduled event ahead of Wednesday's first debate. The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd reports.
Breaking down Obama’s and Romney’s vulnerabilities heading into tomorrow’s debate… Romney says he won’t revoke temporary visas for qualified young illegal immigrants… A Tale of Two Mitts: playing to the base in his stump speeches, while courting the middle in his interviews… Two new national polls: CNN has it Obama 50%, Romney 47%; Quinnipiac has it Obama 49%, Romney 45%... It’s NBC/WSJ poll day!!!... 35 states, including Ohio, are now voting… Missteps for both Brown and Warren at last night’s debate… And RGA announces raising $15 million in 3rd quarter.
As both presidential candidates prep for their first debate on Wednesday night, Mitt Romney spent his first and only event ahead of tomorrow's debate at a museum in Denver, Colo.. Meanwhile, President Obama hunkered down for a more low-key pre-debate schedule in Las Vegas. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
*** Breaking down the vulnerabilities: Heading into tomorrow night’s first presidential debate, both President Obama and challenger Mitt Romney have two big vulnerabilities that his opponent can exploit. And it’s safe to say that whichever candidate better addresses his vulnerabilities will have more success in Wednesday’s debate. For Obama, one of his vulnerabilities is that he hasn’t fully described what a second term would look like. Yes, in both his convention speech and his two-minute TV ad, he’s mentioned things like adding a million new manufacturing jobs and hiring 100,000 new math and science teachers. But how does he accomplish those things? Where does something like comprehensive immigration reform fit in? And given the fact there is some hunger for change, what change can the incumbent promise that will seem credible? Obama’s second vulnerability -- which he really didn’t mention in his convention speech -- is to explain how his re-election would break the partisan fever in Washington. As he admitted in his recent “60 Minutes” interview, “I'm the first one to confess that the spirit that I brought to Washington, that I wanted to see instituted … I haven't fully accomplished that -- haven't even come close in some cases. And you know, if you ask me what's my biggest disappointment is that we haven't changed the tone in Washington as much as I would have liked.”

President Barack Obama, left, delivers pizzas for campaign volunteers during a visit to a local campaign office, Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 in Henderson, Nev.
*** Two for Obama, two for Romney: For Mitt Romney, a big vulnerability is that he hasn’t differentiated his economic policies from George W. Bush’s. Yes, in interview after interview, he has said he’ll pursue a different path, but out of the five principles in his economic message -- 1) take advantage of domestic energy resources, 2) give Americans the job skills they need, 3) forge new trade agreements, 4) balance the budget, and 5) reduce taxes -- Bush aggressively acted on ALL OF THEM save balancing the budget. Romney’s other big vulnerability is his lack of specificity: He has yet to say how he’ll pay for his big tax cuts. In fact, here’s what he said yesterday to a Denver TV affiliate. “What we’re going to do is bring down the rates for everybody, and at the same time we’re going to limit deductions and credits and so forth for people at the high end.” Pressed for specifics, Romney added: “As an option you could say everybody’s going to get up to a $17,000 deduction; and you could use your charitable deduction, your home mortgage deduction, or others… And higher income people might have a lower number. Or you could do it by the same method that Bowles-Simpson did it where you could limit certain deductions, but that’s the sort of thing you do with Congress.”
*** Romney says he won’t revoke temporary visas for qualified young illegal immigrants: But Romney did get more specific on one issue: President Obama’s announcement that his administration would no longer deport qualified young illegal immigrants. After being pressed -- for almost four months -- on what he’d do about Obama’s action, Romney finally told the Denver Post yesterday he wouldn’t revoke their temporary visas. "The people who have received the special visa that the president has put in place, which is a two-year visa, should expect that the visa would continue to be valid. I'm not going to take something that they've purchased," he said. "Before those visas have expired we will have the full immigration reform plan that I've proposed."
*** A Tale of Two Mitts: So, on the one hand, you have Romney saying in recent interviews that he won’t revoke Obama’s executive action on young illegal immigrants, that he’s the “grandfather of Obamacare,” and that he’s empathetic because he was able to get all Massachusetts residents health insurance. But on the other hand, one of us saw -- firsthand -- all the conservative red meat he gave at his rally in Denver last night. Solyndra. Card check. Keystone. Even a shout-out to Focus on the Family. Indeed, you can see his stump speeches as his play to the base, while his media interviews are his courting of the middle. Perhaps that’s the correct balance, but the courting of the middle is still only VERY recent.
*** Two new national polls: There are two new national polls that find the presidential race in pretty much the same place among likely voters. CNN has it at Obama 50%, Romney 47%, and Quinnipiac has it Obama 49%, Romney 45%. The number that’s fluid is Romney’s, not Obama’s. Are we seeing some natural tightening with Romney’s number? The end of Obama’s month-long bounce? But the number to watch has always been Obama’s: If he’s at 49% or 50%, that’s a winning number in this election. There were two bounces in the last month -- one for Obama and one for Romney (in the wrong direction). What these national polls show is that Obama’s bounce is holding; Romney’s negative bounce, to Boston’s relief, is disappearing.
*** It’s NBC/WSJ day!!! And speaking of national polls, we will debut a brand-new NBC/WSJ survey at 6:30 pm ET. Will our numbers be similar to CNN’s and Quinnipiac’s? Or will they be different? How big of an impact did Romney’s “47%” comment have on the electorate? Be sure to tune in for the answers. And by the way, don’t miss Ron Brownstein’s explanation why Obama appears to be over-performing in the swing states: He’s running “considerably better than he is nationally among white women without a college education.” Brownstein adds, “Obama’s gains with these so-called ‘waitress moms’ are especially pronounced in heartland battlegrounds like Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin.”
*** 35 states now voting: With early in-person voting beginning today in Ohio and absentee ballots going out in the Buckeye State as well as Florida and New York, voting is now underway in 35 states across the country, per NBC’s Kyle Inskeep. And that includes the battlegrounds of Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Virginia. Two more states -- Connecticut and California -- will begin early voting later this week.
*** On the trail: With the presidential candidates in debate prep, the VPs and spouses hit the trail: Biden stumps in Charlotte, NC at 11:10 am ET and Asheville at 3:30 pm ET, while First Lady Michelle Obama hits Cincinnati, OH… And Paul Ryan, remaining in Iowa, campaigns in Clinton, Muscatine, and Burlington, while Ann Romney holds a rally in Littleton, CO.
*** Missteps for both Brown and Warren: In last night’s debate between Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren -- moderated by NBC’s David Gregory -- both candidates made missteps. Gregory asked Warren which Republicans she could work across the aisle, per MSNBC’s Michael LaRosa, and she responded that Sen. Dick Lugar would be one of them. "He's not going to be there," Brown and Gregory both responded of the Indiana GOP senator, who lost his primary earlier this year. Meanwhile, LaRosa adds that Brown drew stunned reaction from the crowd when he was asked about his model Supreme Court Justice. His answer: "Justice Scalia is a very good judge.” Those words were met with loud boos. "Justice Kennedy, Roberts, Justice Sotomayor are also good justices," Brown continued, along with the audience reaction. Here’s the Boston Globe’s take on the debate: “Senate candidates make some illuminating stumbles.”
*** RGA raises nearly $15 million in the quarter: The Republican Governors Association says that it raised nearly $15 million in the 3rd fundraising quarter, and that it has raked in almost $44 million for the year. To put those numbers into perspective, the RGA raised $7 million in the 3rd quarter of 2008, and it hauled in $22 million for the year to date in '08.

Vote for President Obama because the Tigers won the AL Central last night!
YEA!
Cabrera for MVP!
4 more for 44!
The GOP party has been caught rigging the November election via voter fraud:
GOP has long worked to suppress the vote of millions of Democrats, under the pretext of (non-existent) voter fraud:
Governor Rick Scott (R-FL) has churned out a procession of phony voter purge lists this year. Florida election officials adamantly refuse to act on such suspect voter purges, but Scott won't quit. He is threatening to sue the Department of Justice using millions in Florida taxpayer dollars - if he doesn't get his way.
GOP hired the same contractors who got away with major voter fraud in 2004.
Thus, more of the same in 2012. TEN Florida counties have found fraudulent registration forms linked to Strategic Allied Consulting, a political firm hired by the RNC. The Republican National Committe paid $3.1 million to S.A.C. to register voters in swing states like Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, Virginia and Florida.
So far, this RNC-paid group has been caught fabricating registrations from dead people, asking visitors to register with fake addresses, and changing addresses on voter registrations forms to block first-time Democratic voters from voting.
We must stand together against the RNC, GOP Congress, and their rich supporters. And send them a message -- that we the good people of America, DEMAND our constitutional right to free and fair elections.
Let the Voting Begin:
Some say 35 days until the election, but that is not quite true. Approximately thirty states have already begun with early balloting. Early voting in Ohio begins today. It may be more accurate to say that the votes will be counted on November 6th, but make no mistake about it, the voting has begun.
The GOTV has shifted from million dollar ads to boots on the ground. Republicans have scoffed at the fact that President Obama was a community organizer, but it will be the efforts of the foot soldiers who knock on doors and spend hours at phone banks that will make the difference. In 2012 the message is personalized to fit each individual voter: Neighbors talking to neighbor, calling old classmates, talking to co-workers, talking to friends on Facebook. Endorsements from friends carry a lot more weight than endorsements from stale politicians. As for the ads, voters have heard that spin before and grab the remote control to mute that million dollar message.
Pundits want to keep the interest and enthusiasm alive by pointing to tomorrow's debate. My take on the debates is both sides will spin that their candidate won. We've seen that show before and all the spinning in the world will not change what voters see and hear from the candidates themselves.
There is a significant difference in style between the two candidates. President Obama knows the facts when it comes to the economy, foreign affairs, and the plight of the middle-class. His words are measured and well thought-out. He has spent most of his life keeping his emotions under control; he knows that when you succumb to emotions, you have abandoned your intellect.
On the other hand, Romney is gaffe prone. I'm guessing that each of the three presidential debates will be 90 minutes in length. Given Romney will speak about half the time means that he will have a total of little over two hours of air time. There is not a person in the country who believes Romney can be gaffe-free for two hours. Once he gets away from his canned comments and one line zingers, the gaffes will start coming one after another.
The other problem Romney has is to try to explain away the 47%...victims comment, not revealing his tax returns, his tax policy of decreasing the deductions for the middle class tax payer, the "marvelous" Ryan budget, and his intentions to privatize Medicare into Couponcare. I don't believe for a second that either the moderator or President Obama will give him a pass on the above issues. After Romney's first canned attempt to defuse these issues, and a garbled second attempt, he will be looking at his watch as did former President Bush.
The bottom line is Romney will lose simply because he is incompetent.
Politico has a Hillaryous story on 10 of Barry’s quotes from his 2008 campaign and the early years of his Presidency that demonstrate what an inexperienced, amateur he was and why he was, and remains, unqualified to be President. The only thing he had going for him is that he gives a wonderful speech. And 53% of the American people were fooled by that sole talent. THAT’S why America has suffered from 43 straight months of 8%+ unemployment and has suffered from a pathetically anemic slow-bama economic “recovery” with GDP growth skidding along the bottom of the barrel at just barely over 1%. And anyone dumb enough to vote for Barry in 2012 thinking the next four years will be better than the last four years is a bigger fool than they were in 2008.
Nobama 2012 Really, Things Could Be Worse-
Give Me Four More Years and I’ll Prove It.
Here are my three favorites (emphasis added):
• “Washington is broken. My whole campaign has been premised from the start on the idea that we have to fundamentally change how Washington works.”
Obama delivered those words on Sept. 11, 2008, at a ServiceNation summit. He has said similar things on countless occasions, starting with the 2004 Democratic keynote address in Boston that vaulted the then-state senator to national acclaim.
There is little doubt that Obama was sincere in his belief that Washington is driven by irrational partisanship. He was sincere also in believing that the power of his own cool and cerebral example would help drain the capital of malice and rebuild a rational center.
In retrospect, Obama’s exaggerated belief in his own capacity to transform Washington—not to mention his own wavering self-discipline in resisting nakedly partisan politics—looks like his most naïve miscalculation about his own power.
Obama himself has embraced this conclusion—albeit slowly.
In a December 2011 interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Obama said he had not miscalculated how difficult it would be to change Washington: “I didn’t overpromise. And I didn’t underestimate how tough this was gonna be.”
In an interview last month with “60 Minutes,” Obama said he had miscalculated: “I’m the first one to confess that the spirit that I brought to Washington, that I wanted to see instituted, where we weren’t constantly in a political slugfest…I haven’t fully accomplished that. Haven’t even come close in some instances. And, you know, if you ask me what’s my biggest disappointment [it] is that we haven’t changed the tone in Washington as much as I would have liked.”
• “If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”
In this quote, from a February 2009 interview on NBC’s “Today" show and widely repeated this year by taunting Republicans, Obama was referring to the pace of economic recovery.
Obama’s explanation, of course, is that his policies, including the $787 billion stimulus package, averted depression and made possible a slow but still incomplete comeback.
But the words haunt Obama because they were a reminder of how profoundly he and his economic team misunderstood the long-term nature of the crisis that confronted them upon taking office.
Christina Romer, then the West Wing’s economist, forecast in January 2009 that the unemployment rate would be around 5.5 percent by the third quarter of 2012 if a large stimulus package passed. It is currently 8.1 percent. Former budget director Peter Orszag explained after leaving office that economic models led the administration to expect that the economy would look like a “V”— a steep decline followed by a steep rebound—and instead it was more like an “L,” a sharp drop followed by a long period of flat growth.
If Obama had seen the future, he would have sought to shape public expectations, and might even have delayed expensive and arguably growth-slowing measures like his overhaul of health care in favor of more measures to coax job creation.
• “I think that health care, over time, is going to become more popular.”
Not really. A little, at best.
The quote in this case actually comes from David Axelrod on NBC’s “Meet the Press” in September 2010, a half-year after the overhaul of health care passed with an all-Democrats strategy, and a couple months before the Republican takeover of Congress, fueled in part by an “Obamacare” backlash.
But there is no question the sentiment was shared by Obama himself, who placed his chips on the health care square early in his presidency. He always knew it would be politically difficult to pass. The assumption, though, was that the legislation would be much more popular—a true accomplishment to run on for re-election—once it became law.
A Kaiser Family Foundation survey shows that a plurality— 45 percent to 40 percent — have a favorable view of the health care legislation. That’s a reversal from before, but the support is hardly strong enough to make passage a key part of Obama’s re-election appeal.
Obama’s errant assumptions about the politics of health care shaped his presidency in other ways. Recall the “big bang” strategy from 2009. The plan was that his first year in office would produce a trio of legislative achievements: reform of health care, reform of the financial services sector and a cap-and-trade measure to limit carbon emissions. The idea was that victory would beget victory, and that a rapid string of first-year successes would infuse years two, three and four of his presidency with even greater momentum.
Obama achieved two of the three — cap-and-trade fell by the wayside — though it took longer than expected. But, far from generating new momentum, each victory drained his political capital. The result is that Obama has had few big domestic policy achievements since 2010.
With all of the misleading ads popping up, I see where Team Willard has kept their promise of not allowing the train wreck to be fueled by FACTS:
How I LOVE the smell of desperation in the morning... lol

Bin Laden is Dead, but Al-Qaeda is Alive
The Obama folks don't want us to know this. That's why they kept pushing the false story that a video instigated the mobs that torched our embassies and killed Americans. That story was ludicrous on its face from day one -- mobs don't just happen to show up with RPGs and mortars and mount a coordinated assault. Someone may want to tell that to Ambassador Rice. Oh wait, Leon Panetta did just that when he mentioned recently that it was obvious this was a terrorist attack. Too bad it took the administration so long to finally acknowledge what was already painfully obvious to almost everyone else.
But we're in election season, and a terrorist attack that killed Americans on the anniversary of 9/11 doesn't fit Obama's narrative that he fixed the problem when he got bin Laden. After all, with al-Qaeda decapitated America became much safer overnight. So when an ugly reality walks all over that story, best to downplay the sordid details and condemn the free expression of ideas instead. Yes indeed, when in doubt always opt for apologizing for American values.
The policy strategy of choice for this administration has been to appease our cuddly Muslim friends as a means to encourage them to like us. Except appeasing these fanatics hasn't worked out too well. That darn reset button just keeps getting hammered over and over, but our embassies in the Middle East still went up in flames and Iran is still on the road to making a nuke. And while the prez has time to make nice with Whoopi on The View, he just can't seem to be able to squeeze Bibi into his busy schedule.
So the United States is at the mercy of events in the Middle East rather than influencing those events. Because this administration has determined that the constructive use of American power is a counterproductive anachronism in a multilateral world. Thus anything that smacks of an America First approach to foreign policy is demonized as Bush style cowboy diplomacy and rejected in favor of bending over backwards to coddle our foes.
But we've been trying it their way for quite a while now and the results haven't been pretty. It's laughable beyond words to hear the left preach that Obama has enhanced respect for America around the world by salvaging a reputation that was sullied by the evil Bush. I guess the two dozen or so countries in the Middle East that protested at our embassies last month, burned our flag and chanted "death to America" didn't get that memo. The fact of the matter is Obama's policy in the region has been a complete and utter failure.
That's why they'd rather talk about a video – and that's why a supportive MSM let them get away with it for so long.
Hi Chris, Ron, Feisty, Beverly,
Strategic Allied Consulting had a different name in 2004. Today the domain name of SAC is being used in Florida for email addresses by voter registration operatives. It is registered under Sproul & Associates in Tempe, Arizona. Founder Nathan Sproul, is former director of the Arizona GOP. Sproul is also director of AZ's Christian Coalition.
In 2004, SAC was caught trashing new Democratic voter registrations and manipulating ballot initiatives. SAC workers were telling Democratic voters "to leave the box open," or rip the form up. Operatives turning in Democratic registrations were fired.
Strategic Allied Consulting was acccused of denying thousands of voter registrations in 2004. YET THE RNC HIRED THEM AGAIN this year - under condition the outfit changed its name. And this time, the Republican National Committee made the SAC its SOLE vendor in five swing states. For the month of July, the RNC federal fund paid the SAC the sum of $333,267.50.
Yesterday, the RNC said they would no longer register voters in those 5 states - SAC is now under investigation.
Post Script: Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has paid Nathan Sproul over $70,000 since late 2011.
I second the motion!
All in favor...
While the lemmings are willing to turn a blind eye...
Guess raw hatred has that effect on some!
Isn't that special, Mr. Me First Broccoli Bill is spinning foreign policy today!
Let's see if it's more successful than his temper tantrums on the economy last week... lol
We all need to Vote a Straight Democratic Ticket and clean out that rat hole republican-tea bag Congress.

Alan, NJ,
Had to run out yesterday, so to pick up where we left off:
You said: “Can I ask what fences are going up to stop legal immigrants?”
I replied Immigration Naturalization Service, and added: “If you've never been through the process, or tried to help someone gain legal status, you don't know the first thing about it.”
Now you say you’re a naturalized citizen. So you do know something about it.
But what I was objecting to was your insinuation that nothing (i.e., no “fences”) stood in the way of those who want to come to this country legally. For many it is a fairly straightforward process—it sounds like it was for you. But for tens of thousands of others who qualify for entry it is a never ending nightmare.
And for 95% of the people who sneak across the border from Mexico, the legal channel is impossible due to their personal circumstances (poverty, lack of education, etc.). Illegal means are the only way they can gain entry.
There are definitely fences to prevent those who would like to come to this country legally. For you to insinuate otherwise is disingenuous.
AYE!
The GOP hired Nathan Sproul and asked him to a new company as cover for the RNC... Sounds vaguely familar to how Grover started out...
Voter fruad the GOP and Florida. Now that's a shocker!!!
Good Morning Chris, Ron, Feisty, Backhouse, and all my other liberal friends. You all have started the day off in a great anticipatory way for our friends on the other side heads to explode.

I always find this community organizer zinger laughable. It was our President who organized America so well it got him to the White House. The GOP/T-Bangers can't find their way out of a paper bag as evidenced by their impulsion.

Obama/Biden 2012
Chris, congrats on the Tiger's win; IR's Nationals won, too.
Backhouse, well said. The Voter Fraud the GOP talks about wasn't real UNTIL they created it--the GOP BUILT THAT FRAUD. This GOP firm was caught doing the same thing they are doing today but the Bush Attorney General refused to prosecute. The firm changed its name because of the previous scandals and the GOP hoped no one would be the wiser. The GOP's own ACORN. Where's James O'Keefe these days, why isn't he out there making film?
Ron, I can attest to those "boots on the ground" as a volunteer at Organizing for America. Romney has 12 offices in Iowa, Obama has 66. Romney's side makes robo-calls; Obama's has real people on the phones. There is a distinct lack of Romney/Ryan yard signs here compared to many Obama/Biden ones.
Some of the debate questions have been leaked:
Romney's debate questions from the Main Stream Media:
1. Your economic plan doesn't add up. Explain in detail how you can balance the budget, promote jobs growth, and cut programs that 90% of all Americans favor. You have 30 seconds.
2. Where are your tax returns? Did you bring them tonight? If not, why not? You have 40 seconds.
3. You put a harmless and defenseless animal on the roof of your car. Explain.
4. Why do you hate women? You have 12 seconds.
5. What have you done to stop the war in Afghanistan?
6. Why does your wife show up all working Americans by wearing those designer cloths while Ms. Obama shops at Target for her clothing?
7. That stinky horse of yours, when are you getting rid of it?
8. France is taxing their people at 75%. Why can't we do that here, except for the people in Hollywood and those working in the news business? You have 18 seconds.
9. You're rich. How much of it did you steal from the poor people? Just give us a number.
Obama's debate questions from the MSM:
1. Mr. President, how are you tonight?
2. How is Michelle? We certainly do love seeing her! Can you tell us about all the fun things she's doing?
3. Why is Mitt Romney wrong about pretty much everything? You have 45 minutes to explain. If you need more time, let us know.
4. I like your tie, where did you get it?
5. Regarding education, your kids look to be doing well. What colleges will you be looking at for them?
6. The economy is improving so much with only a drop of a not even a half a percent in GDP from 1.7% to 1.3% growth this last quarter. How have you accomplished such an astounding turnaround?
7. Do you like horses Mr. President? Mitt Romney owns horses, and I think they smell bad. What do you think?
8. You still blame Bush. I agree with you. Please explain why Bush was the worst President ever. Please feel free to include Dick Cheney and Karl Rove in your answer. Take as much time as you need.
9. Do you want to talk about deficit spending? I didn't think so. Tell us instead, what are the ladies on The View really like?
While the lemmings are willing to turn a blind eye...
Feisty, that's no way to talk about your Liberal friends.
Thanks Jody! I love October baseball....especially when we're still in it :)
Way to tell the truth my liberal friends....good to see you Bev, Backhouse, Ron, Jody, GBM, Job1, devie, IR and Red!
Immigration
Yesterday in Denver - Young illegal immigrants who receive temporary work permits to stay in the United States under an executive order issued by President Barack Obama would not be deported under a Mitt Romney administration, the GOP presidential hopeful told The Denver Post Monday.
“The people who have received the special visa that the president has put in place, which is a two-year visa, should expect that the visa would continue to be valid. I’m not going to take something that they’ve purchased,” Romney said.
Earlier this year Governor Romney had said he would veto legislation that provides a path to citizenship. He opposes the DREAM Act but said he would support a version of the bill to give legal status to undocumented immigrants who served in the military. And Mitt Romney has supported “self-deportation” policies to force undocumented immigrants to leave the U.S. To fix the U.S.’s immigration system, Romney continues to repeat that he wants to work with Congress on a comprehensive solution, but he gave The
Denver Post no details (as usual) about that plan.
Can't wait for tomorrows night debate. As my father use to say, "Should be a Lulu." (What ever that means). I don't think trying to suppress the Black and Latino vote is going to work like the Repugs hope. Just to many of them and for all intents and purposes they can't suppress them all. And the women voters, boy have the GOP ticked off these Ladies and their the majority of voters. Lots of luck Repugs and as the Reverend Al says "Nice try, but we got ya."

Backhouse......great post. I understand yesterday, the GOP decided to stop voter registration, it doesn't say what will happen to all those who have been registered by them prior to this. Some may be eligible but I feel sure that the counties in Fl will be scouring the rolls checking those newly registered for any they may have overlooked as being ineligible. Should make for a 'fun' Election time, early voting starts October 27 and voter registration ends Oct. 9th.
Governor Scott is trying every angle he can think of to make it more difficult to vote, so far the fund spent on this goose chase could have been used to help the citizens of our state in so many ways. He has become one of the most hated politicians in our state's history and we have had our fair share of them recently. His reelection is coming up next year and we have a cure for his term......never again.

Funny GM, that is how most of us feel about Obama.
Has anyone seen dat new Rev. Al Lean Leftward commercial with him talking about “de boogeyman”??
It’s Hillaryous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have wondered why MSDNC keeps de Rev. around and dis “boogeyman” comedy bit has provided the answer. Even dat moron talking horse’s ass, Mr. Ed, wouldn’t allow himself to star in such a buffoonish commercial. It brings back fond memories of 25 years ago when da Rev. first earned his buffoon street cred with the Tawana Brawley hoax.
Here’s what the NY Times had to say about da deadbeat Rev. Al:
Sharpton's Debt in Brawley Defamation Is Paid by Supporters
By ALAN FEUER
Published: June 15, 2001
More than two years after the Rev. Al Sharpton was found to have defamed a former prosecutor in the Tawana Brawley case, the $65,000 damage award entered against Mr. Sharpton by a Dutchess County jury has been paid in full.
Last week, Steven A. Pagones, a former Dutchess County assistant district attorney, received about $40,000, the last of the money owed to him by Mr. Sharpton, Mr. Pagones's lawyer said yesterday. In 1998, a state jury decided that Mr. Sharpton; Ms. Brawley's lawyers, Alton H. Maddox Jr. and C. Vernon Mason; and Ms. Brawley herself had defamed Mr. Pagones by wrongly accusing him of abducting and raping Ms. Brawley, then 15, over several days in 1987.
With the judgment, and interest, paid off, a case that has haunted Mr. Sharpton for more than a decade as he has sought to advance his position in public life has been put to rest. Although a special state grand jury concluded near the time of the incident that Ms. Brawley fabricated the account of her attack, the case became a national racial controversy.
''It is gratifying that we did get paid in full because there were many people who thought that we wouldn't,'' said Mr. Pagones's lawyer, Garry Bolnick, who worked on the case with another lawyer, Larry Kleinman. ''It is not gratifying, however, that we could not get Mr. Sharpton to issue a public apology.''
In November 1987, Ms. Brawley was found inside a plastic bag behind an apartment house in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. She was curled in a fetal position, with feces and racial epithets smeared on her body. Mr. Pagones was accused by Mr. Sharpton, Mr. Mason and Mr. Maddox -- civil rights advocates who rallied to Ms. Brawley's side as advisers -- of abducting and raping the girl.
The next year, the grand jury exonerated Mr. Pagones, suggesting that Ms. Brawley had concocted the hoax to avoid punishment by her stepfather for being out without permission. The grand jury also implied that Ms. Brawley's advisers had allowed the case to mushroom into a national cause despite indications that her account was dubious.
Mr. Pagones filed a $395 million defamation suit in October 1988 against Ms. Brawley and the three advisers. Ms. Brawley never responded, and in 1991 a judge ruled that Mr. Pagones had won his case against her by default. In 1998, after an eight-month trial, a jury found that Mr. Pagones had been defamed and awarded him damages: $185,000 from Mr. Mason, $95,000 from Mr. Maddox, $65,000 from Mr. Sharpton and $187,000 from Ms. Brawley.
In March, a group of Mr. Sharpton's supporters agreed to pay the judgment for him. The group, which was led by Percy E. Sutton, the former Manhattan borough president, included the lawyer Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. and Earl Graves Jr., the president of Black Enterprise magazine.
''Our position is that we were happy that the business community came forward to pay the judgment,'' said Michael Hardy, a lawyer for Mr. Sharpton. Mr. Maddox still owes much of his original $95,000 judgment to Mr. Pagones. Mr. Mason, who is now a Baptist minister, has been paying off his judgment periodically through the garnishment of his wages, Mr. Bolnick said.
Ms. Brawley has not paid off the judgment against her, Mr. Bolnick said. ''She has been difficult to locate and her assets have been impossible to locate,'' he said.
Speaking of October baseball...for the first time in forever, my Orioles are in the conversation!!! Woo hoo!!!
Feisty...wow did Da Bears make a statement last night. Sad part is that after the game someone gave Romo a ball to autograph...when he threw it back to the fan it got intercepted.
JS1...okay...that post had me laughing. Well done!
Happy Debate Eve all!! :-)
FR:
Obama already addressed that in a recent interview. He said that the Republicans no longer could focus all their efforts at defeating him for a second term, and that maybe they would start working to get something constructive done that might give voters a better opinion of them. Whether or not he's right, I don't know. Obama may be making the mistake of assuming that Republicans are capable of acting rationally. I haven't seen much evidence for that recently.
Anything for you Frank.
One more tidbit concerning those Obama "boots on the ground" versus Romney's lack of them. I have received several phone calls from the Romney campaign inviting me to attend his campaign events in the area. Trouble is, it is a robo-call which tells the person to go to the Romney web site to request event tickets. Now, there are a good number of elderly voters in Iowa, many republicans who do not have computers or access to the internet and unless their is a local GOP party office, they have no way of requesting tickets. Contrast that with the Obama invite phone calls made by real people who assisted the people in getting tickets including delivery of the reserved tickets to the nearest local Democratic party offices for pickup.
Unfortunately for Willard, his zingers fail to produce any ho-ho's...

PA Judge blocks new voter ID law
Too close to election
Good Morning Jody, Iowa
Ron, I can attest to those "boots on the ground" as a volunteer at Organizing for America. Romney has 12 offices in Iowa, Obama has 66. Romney's side makes robo-calls; Obama's has real people on the phones. There is a distinct lack of Romney/Ryan yard signs here compared to many Obama/Biden ones.
Jody,
Look at all the early voters in Ohio.
`snippet`
Early voters tend to vote Democratic, while Election Day sees more Republicans travel to the polls, according to a study by the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at the University of Akron.
A federal judge ruled that a state law prohibiting weekend voting was unconstitutional in a lawsuit filed by the Obama campaign. The decision is being appealed to a federal appellate court.
I ♥ me some State Senator Nina Turner who often appears on the Ed Schultz Show. She is so determined and fired up. She reminds me of of one of those gutsy, church going, sistas that will go through fire and brimstone to do the right thing for justice.

I have been coming to Iowa to canvas on the weekend and I phone bank too.

Pennsylvania Voter ID Law Ruling: Judge Halts Enforcement Of Law For Election
Amen....sanity rules!
So the president(in this case, the quarterback) will blame everyone around him for his lousy play a la Jay "Whiney Boy" Cutler?
**************BREAKING NEWS********************
Pennsylvania judge has just ruled that the new ID law cannot be implemented before or on Election Day.
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Now get out the vote
Yee haw, the Judge blocked the Pennsylvania Voter ID law, insufficient time to implement fairly, etc.!!!
Edit: I see Chris, GBM already posted the Breaking News--it's worth repeating several times.
Jody & GBM....this is great news for all Americans!
So if Romney is doomed (according to the lefties) in the debates, the claim of deer in headlights look. Then who will Obama blame throughout the night? Bush, GOP, Teaparty or Pre Evolution Obama?

PA Judge blocks new voter ID law

Jim Crow is so alive amongst right wing nut jobs. yet it's they who are committing voter registration fraud. No surprise there. The only way these hypocrites can win is to cheat.
Backhouse, good post. I guess we can all understand why the GOP was so convinced that voter fraud was a big problem, BECAUSE THEY WERE THE ONES COMMITTING THE VOTER FRAUD.
It's always important, especially when dealing with the GOP, to remember that the guilty dog always barks first.
That has never been more true that in the past 12 years. The GOP keeps barking out accusations and protestations against the very acts they themselves are committing.
And, thanks to the fact AM radio has been turned into one great big GOP propaganda machine the un-informed and easily mis-led are buying into it. We see it here every day. The ditto-heads repeating something they heard on hate radio or fox news as if it were a gold-plated fact. They would be laughable caricatures if the consequences were not so tragic. How many times have I read their little rants on the NEED for these new voter ID laws only to find out it was the GOP committing the most widespread voter fraud in the nation. I'm tempted to laugh and cry at the same time.
Well, time to mosey on back to the ranch house and see how the doggies are doing.
George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Merril Streep are filming a movie up in Osage County. I'd sure like to go up and check it all out. Yee-haw, Hollywood up in the Osage nation.

YAY!
Looks like things are not going quite as smoothly as planned;
Feisty, Bev and the rest of my liberal friends - what exactly does it mean when Anne Romney says she fears for the mental health of Mitt if he is elected? She knows him better than anyone and she's clearly stating she doesn't think he can handle the stress.
And, THIS is the best the GOP can do? (The Romney's - the gift that keeps on giving!)
Obama/Biden 2012
Dennis, Columbus, Ohio
That's great news for American democracy. But it probably won't have much impact on the presidential election. Obama is too far ahead in Pennsylvania for the Repubs to steal the election with that voter suppression law. It's Ohio and Florida where voter suppression could swing the election to Romney. I'm still wondering if by some "accident," there won't be enough voting machines in Democratic areas of Ohio and tens of thousands of people will give up and go home without voting after waiting for hours in line at the polling place as happened in 2004.
Alright we've established this PA voter law has been put on hold for now, lets go back to class envy, hating success, growing government for the benefit of the people, Romney's dog, Annes dress, Osama is dead and GM is alive, etc.
What did I insinuate? I was replying to a post that falsely conflated illegal and legal immigration. The poster was referring to physical fences along the border in the context of EPA regulations. I questioned what fences were in the way of legal immigrants. Not once did I insinuate that there were no bureaucratic obstacles, quotas and financial issues in legal immigration.
And how is this different from the millions who don't happen to live on the border? You think that because a law is bad it should be resolved by what is by definition an invasion. Why is it our responsibility to solve the poverty issues of Mexico. Why stop there? Are we responsible for the poverty throughout central America. I only ask because it is an interesting debate.
As to immigration, I would just ask that you have more sympathy for those trying to enter the country legally from India, China and the Philippines which have horrendous quotas.

Great news on Pennsylvania. Polling here did not ask if you had voter ID as far as I know, so this court ruling certainly cements Obama's lead here in PA.
800,000 more votes for Obama and they are real people who just don't need driver's licenses (our only required form of ID).

Feisty Redhead:
UNDONE -- Judge Robert Simpson and the rule of law.
Bill in Fairfax claims President Obama's foreign policy is "appeasement" and that he refuses to use American power to influence events in the Middle East. Because that always turns out so well......
I remember a president not too long ago that used "American power" to influence events in the Middle East. His highly-experienced foreign policy experts ignored any intelligence that warned of looming terrorist acts by Al-Quada and focused instead on trying to find a way to "take out" Saddam Hussein. This led to 9/11 and the wars in Irag and Afghanistan.
Al-Qaeda sprang from the Afghan mujahideen and came to power when Carter & Reagan supported them against the Soviets. Thus the use of "American power" to try and influence events in Afghanistan gave rise to Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden.
The tyranny of Saddam Hussein was another by-product of Republican presidents using "American power to influence events in the Middle East". Saddam was considered the lessor of two evils and was supported and provided American funding as long as Iraq was engaged in conflict with Iran - who was an enemy of America because we used "American power" to support another tyrant, the Shah of Iran.
So how did all that "American influence" turn out? Iran took American hostages, Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait, and Osama Bin Laden planned 9/11 as revenge for American soldiers in "the holy land". In return we invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, which led to the deaths of thousands of American troops as well as Afghan/Iraqi civilians, and in all certainty created a new generation of recruits for Al-Qaeda.
The foreign policy "experts" who ignored, misread and falsified intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq are the same "experts" that Romney has advising him on foreign policy. I scarcely think they deserve another chance at "influencing" events.
Democracy in the Middle East can only be achieved by "ballots", not "bullets". Republican efforts to influence events in the region have created more chaos than peace.
To ignore the historical volatility and decades of American missteps in that region, and claim that President Obama's foreign policy is somehow responsible for Al-Qaeda and the attacks on our embassies is both short-sighted and inaccurate.
TNSEVOL - I believe your post counts as a b*tch slap to Bill in VA! Very well done.

Good post. And the US ambassador whose death Romney pretends to be outraged by was totally opposed to the"shoot first and aim later" style of diplomacy that Romney's advisers advocate. What would a President Romney have done about the Benghazi attack? Carpet bomb the city?
Question about voter ID;
My grand-kid turned 18 and registered to vote with absolutely no identification of any kind.
She is now allowed to vote with absolutely no identification of any kind.
Anybody see the potential for fraud here?
I have no idea if any voter fraud actually occurs, I suspect when 80 voter registrations in Houston go to the same single family residence there might be a problem.
I think somewhere sometime in the process a voter should produce a government issued i d of some sort
The problem we have in the middle east is we train our soldiers to break things and kill people then send them over there to be pacifists.
We need to send all you pacifists over there to fix the problem
I want the debate moderator to ask both candidates tonight what they would do about the 2400 milionaires in this country who collect unemployment benefits.
I have great sympathy for them, having worked a couple of years in the U.S. Refugee Program in SEA. Plus, I have direct experience bringing my family here from SEA--it took over 3 years.
Philippines? Now you're showing your ignorance. For all practical purposes the Philippines are SEA's Puerto Rico--nearly an American colony. It's 10 or 20 times more difficult for someone from China to come here.
I never said that; I was merely making an observation.
Nor did I say that--you're reading into my words. But as to whether we are partly responsible for the spread of poverty throughout Central America, I would say yes.
Man, oh man! That was a beating! I wonder if Jerry Jones glasses and Son in Law survived...
Wasn't Palmer the staff ace the last time? Congrats on your "O"s making the playoffs. They and their long suffering fans deserve it!
Seeking Sanity -
It just gets infuriating. Cheney said "We will, in fact, be greeted as Liberators" in Iraq. The same neo-cons who totally underestimated the cost in both dollars and lives of the War in Iraq are criticizing President Obama's approach to Libya, and offering advice to Romney?
The approach to Libya was to keep American troops off the ground, and support an existing insurgency in conjunction with NATO. The Libyan insurgency was successful and Quadafi is no longer in power. The initial cost in American lives - ZERO. Libyans killed by American troops - ZERO. AMerican troops in constatn danger form insurgent attacks - ZERO.
You can never be sure how it will turn out, and the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and other Americans is a huge tragedy. What is the current situation, though? The Libyan populace is taking it on themselves to disarm militias and fight for their own freedom from religous oppression.
Although in the short term this may lead to further violence it is the only true path to democracy and it remains an internal Libyan issue that they MUST resolve themselves. Interjecting OUR presence would only lead to further conflict and resentment against America.
So lets compare the two strategies - Bush/Iraq and Obama/Libya. Which has been more successful in developing peace and democracy, and which strategy offers America a better chance to influence future events?
old fat guy -
I am certainly not a pacifist, I served in the US Army and support the use of force in certain situations. I do set thebar higher than Bush and the neocons as to wwhen I would justify the use of force. I would also make sure that if I committed our troops they would have the right equipment, training and support and would be sent in sufficient numbers to overwhelmingly prevail.
You are somewhat correct in that trying to perform "peacekeeping" missions in a country that we invaded without being asked to is a difficult task to accomplish, and is not what our troops are trained to do.
How about just increasing his security. Something the Obama administration FAILED to do even with advanced warning. You spend too much time probing for defects in Romney and overlook the, now deadly, defects of the current president.
I live in the town of Bethlehem just outside of Albany, NY. For the last 23 years, the process by which I vote has not changed.
I report to my polling place and check in with the volunteer poll workers. They have in front of them two sprial notebooks that contain a complete registered voter roll for the entire voting district. I give them my name and they find my information in the binder. Next to my info is a copy of my signature from my original voter registration. I sign my name again next to this signature and, voila, they direct me to a booth to vote.
It has been the same way for the last 23 years and never once has there been a question of my identity, the validity of my registration or whether I have voted more than once.
Let's just hope that the candidates show more civility, intelligence and respect for their fellow Americans than many who post here.
old fat guy - oh yeah because it's so much better to just bomb the countries then send our troops over there to die. Typical Republican - as long as you're not the one fighting you'r absolutely fine with war. Never mind the cost in the lives of our military or the financial costs. War is all the GOP knows - it's their job producer!
TNSEVOL - again, an excellent post - well thought out and well stated.

All the Obama administration had to do is give Ambassador Stevens more security. No need for bombs and troops and war - just a greater security presence. That was a failure of the Obama administration. Who knows what Romney would have done - it is immaterial since we know what Obama did (or didn't do). Obama failed to keep Ambassador Stevens safe. End of story.
The first 9/11 was caused by bubba clinton.
The second 9/11 was caused by Barack Hussein Obama.
Obamanites lied about the 9/11 massacre in Libya. Per Obama "The war on terror is over" Tell that to the ambassador 's who was raped, tortured, murdered and dragged through the streets.
JoannaSmith1: that was funny, good chuckle to start the day.
However, with Jim Lehrer I am anticipating that the questions will be very focused and equally tough on both candidates. I also hope that he won't let either side get away with side stepping the questions asked.
Finally I truly hope the debates are more dignified than what we saw in the primaries. For some of those debates I had turned in at the beginning and I thought I was watching the beginning of a WWF wrestling match, with Wolf Blitzer taking the part of the announcer. I was expecting to see the candidates come out through clouds of smoke and "lets get ready to ruymmmble !!!!"
Their real vulnerabilities are the possibilities of having to answer REAL difficult questions; that is why the debate is limited to only the two of them.

Very little. The signature on the voter registration card still has to match the signature the person writes on the sign-in sheet at the polling place. It's as easy to tell a fake signature that must be written on the spot as it is to tell a fake photo ID, which aren't all that hard to manufacture. That's why the TSA guard at the airport puts you driver license under a UV light to detect evidence of fraud. Poll workers don't usually have such equipment and the training to detect a fake photo ID.
That kind of fraud should be easily detected when voter roles are purged. And whoever lived at that address should expect a visit from the police. Who in their right mind would pull a stunt like that?
@ Da Noid
Well said! They are going to have to build their own government we can't do it for them. We aren't nation builders. Does that sound similar to that hypocrite "W"? Too bad he did listen to his own rhetoric.
The entire situation in Libya is tragic. We can't say positively if anything could have been done to prevent the ambassador's death, short of not having him in that area. I'm sure there will be a general review of security at all US Consulates and embassies. However, only so much can be done.
Just as the US embassy in Beirut was destroyed with a whole platoon of Marines present, additional security would likely not have prevented this situation.
The reality of the reaction to Libya is that the GOP candidate called what was happening wrong and the GOP, in general, have been attempting to use the deaths as a weapon against President Obama. I expect that within 24 hours of losing the House in November, we will not be hearing anything from the GOP on Libya anymore.

Albany Joe's post -- #1.3
How is Joe's post wrong or misleading? Let me count the ways.
Here are my OWN 3 favorites --
When you put it this way, Joe, what's your point? What the President no doubt counted on was that people on BOTH sides of the political aisle would take the lesson of 2008 that the people wanted change. He no doubt believed that Congress would also act in good faith.
Instead of GOOD faith, however, what happened beginning literally on Day One was a 4-year showing of incredible BAD faith by Republicans determined to deny the President a second term NO MATTER WHAT he proposed, and even before they HEARD what he would propose.
Perhaps so, but this doesn't mean what you think it means, Joe.
Romer was completely right that a large stimulus might have had that effect. Where she and other Obama advisers were wrong was to propose a stimulus that was neither large enough nor of the right kind. We've had this discussion before.
All that the stimulus experience confirms is that tax cuts do NOT create jobs.
If you're going to accept the Kaiser Foundation as a source for anything, then you might want to pay closer attention to Kaiser's prediction that the cuts made in Medicare through Obamacare will extend the life of Medicare until 2023. Kaiser has stated flatly that, if Obamacare is repealed and the Ryan budget is enacted, Medicare will be broke by 2016.
So whether Obamacare is popular or not, it's actually the best alternative on the table today to the imminent demise of Medicare.
So many fallacies, so little time. Willy Wonker rides away .....
Nice dodge. Now Libya is "tragic" and "only so much can be done". - B. S. Ambassador Stevens feared he was on a hit list and there was credible intelligence about a possible attack yet no additional security was ordered. NONE. That is a monumental failure that proved deadly.
The Marines were there under the auspices of the UN as peace keepers, not embassy protectors.
The GOP and Romney are making the Obama administration accountable for their failure to protect a US Ambassador. It is a legit criticism that would be a bigger story if not for the election coverage and the media's obvious discomfort in making Obama look bad.
NEWS that really Matters...

Ambassador Stevens begged for support and to be removed before they were killed....BOZOhussen ignored his pleas!!!. And now hides his correspondence!!
Then riddle me this. Why was Stevens, a sophisticated Middle Eastern diplomat who had essentially been living in the region since 1991 or so, in Benghazi on September 11 with only a minimal security force?
Does Hillary Clinton have to tell every diplomat all over the world to take precautions in advance of September 11, or would one expect them to know that?
Did Chris Stevens not have enough smarts to check his own calendar?
Stevens' trip to Benghazi was unscheduled and so far I haven't heard anyone say it was necessary that he be there that day. If Stevens knew he was on a hit list and didn't have enough security, why wasn't he smart enough to stay home and ask for more security?
The answer to all those questions is probably that Chris Stevens knew he was in danger, but he ALWAYS knew he was in danger, and he forged ahead anyway.

Ergo, Q22 does NOT compute.
border joe - you're a liar and a disgusting person to take the death of a statesman and try to make it fit your agenda. What you've posted is a complete lie and you know it - you're just making up whatever you want to post to try to make a point. What a disgusting little man you are to use the death of Ambassador Stevens so cheaply. It says everything about you!
Obama/Biden 2012
Bev...
Speaking of 'lies'...will the President stick to his latest whopper...that having 20 embassies overrun, our American flags burned, chants of 'Death to America', and four of our people slaughtered was all caused by a sketchy YouTube video posted 3 months ago and that hardly anyone has even seen ???
And will the President double-down on that baloney with his "We've created 4.6 million new jobs" slop ??? If so, I hope he is reminded of the fact that fewer Americans are working today than on the day Mr. Obama took office...so if he wants credit for jobs that have been filled, he must also eat the credit for the jobs that have been lost during his time in office.
So I suppose its OK that Obama is telling defense contractors to break the law and not send layoff notices to workers due to the pending defense cuts. The best part is he now is saying the governemnt will pay the legal expenses of these companies that would break the law.
How can any one distort these facts to say that this is OK. This is a corrupt President doing anything in his power (or beyond) to keep votes. This is a very sad country if the majority of Americans can vote for some one who tells others to violate the law for his benefit...
His repeated requests for additional security were denied by the State Department. No riddle here, just incompetency.
Seeking...
Before calling others 'disgusting' liars...explain how you have received access to any and all documentation, communications, and e-mails that were sent or received between the embassy and DC ???
Wow ! Did Seeking Sanity forget her meds this morning ? The personal attack on "border joe" at #1.92 is pretty vicious ! But, I guess since she is a self-proclaimed "Progressive", calling someone a "liar", "disgusting person", and "disgusting little man" are all simply OKAY with the so-called moderators of this board ??????
Defeat from the Jaws of Victory Pre Debate edition...

tony - no I don't have confidential information and neither does anyone else on here who is posting their lies as facts. I see you don't call any of them out? Oh that's right - it's because you support their lying agenda! Again, since they don't have access to the communications, what they are posting are disgusting lies! See how that works, Tony?
Obama/Biden 2012
fine you're just stupid and have no clue, you post lies and mistruths. You need to get some facts tony. I know because I know.
How did I do

When you're called out for your lies and shown that you have nothing to back them up you do a double down on trying to insult me. Just a hint -I certainly don't consider comments from anyone like YOU to be important.
Your idiotcy and lack of credibility in anything you post tells the story. You truly are a disgusting little man - and I use the word "man" very loosely!
Obama/Biden 2012
yep. oh well though, like I said Seeking has her own little ivory tower perched up high looking down upon the 'people'. its the ever dog and pony show of 'superior' intelligence. shallow and self serving. Remember though, progressive and tolerant. HAHAHA. jokes on them
It is said that Americans hate to admit they made a mistake. Don't admit it, just get rid of it.
PB80tard - unfortunately the Republicans cannot get rid of their mistake at this point. They'll have to wait until he is defeated in November then I think we'll be rid of Mitt for good!
Obama/Biden 2012
The debates will be an opportunity for Americans to take a closer look at Obama, and to see how he responds to pointed comments that Romney will doubtlessly make about the Obama legacy. Many Americans are not aware of how the Obama administration has misled them on so many things, with the help of the mass media. Talk about the recent anti-American fervor in the Muslim Middle East. If you don't question what the Obama administration and most of the mainstream media is telling you about that, you're very gullible. Ask why the Obama administration insisted that it was about a Youtube video. Did you believe that?
For whatever reason, Barack Obama feels an unnatural compulsion to protect Islam from perceived "insults". We saw this in his attempts to intercede on behalf of the planners of the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque" near the site of what was the World Trade Center, and we see it in the many comments he has made to the Islamic world and to Americans. Unfortunately, those Islamic leaders intent on harming us are smarter than we generally think they are, and they have shrewdly developed strategies to utilize Obama's emotional vulnerability for this purpose, thus they invented the Youtube video pretext specifically to appeal to Obama's vulnerability and Obama himself is unfortunately only too eager to be played in this manner.
So when you watch the debate, pay careful attention to Barack Obama's metamessage and ask yourself if you feel comfortable with the emotional vulnerabilities that he brings with him to the presidency of the United States of America.
Insane..............Lame and droll. Same old insanity. Old being the key word.
The White House is not a proper place to practice affirmative action.
dangerfield: I always like reading your comments.
You have to really wonder whether Romney is going to lose because he's, well, being Mitt, or if it really is the message that is the problem.
It seems that since the extremist takeover, the Republican party has not cared about governing for the majority of the country. All that really matters is that they 51% of the vote in states that will give them exactly 270 electoral votes and to rule the Congress.
Seeking...
Sorry but know I don't "see how it works"...with the information that is out in the public now it seems like the Administration and especially the four slaughtered Americans would have fared a bit better had they erred on the side of caution and beefed up security ON the anniversary of 9-11...AFTER several other terrorists acts that had been committed at our embassy INCLUDING an IED that blew a hole in the wall surrounding our embassy and AFTER the British Ambassador's car had been hit with a rocket propelled grenade in an earlier attack.
It also makes sense that if Mr. Stevens was writing in his journal (as reported by CNN) that he was afraid he might be murdered in Benghazzi ( a terrorist depot ) that he likely was also passing that concern on to his superiors...if such a person exists in this White House.
And if you want to pen your tripe continuously pointing at supposed "lies"...what about the outrageous lie we were fed for two weeks directly by President Obama and his minions, that all the devastation in the Middle East was "spontaneous" and purely the result of a fuzzy video clip on YouTube that had been released but hardly viewed by anyone on the planet...until the White House had to keep bringing the video clip up hour after hour after hour as an explanation for what they would not admit were terrorist attacks on our embassies.
Talk about "disgusting lies" !!!
Please go easy on seeking:

There will be nothing new from Obama tomorrow. The shuck and jive campaign with the complicity of biased media will continue to blame Bush for the economy, engage in class warfare rhetoric, offer no answers for the staggering national debt, accept no accountability for the failed stimulus, failed Fast and Furious, failure to achieve promised immigration reform, failure to bring enemployment under 8% if the stimulus was passed. Mum is the word on his failed foreign policy tomorrow but when we get into that there will be nothing resembling the truth about events in the middle east as they have already demonstrated to date. Obama is completely remorse free when it comes to lies and some of you people buy it. Amazing.

Nazarite:
The video you refer to about the Ambassador being raped, tortured and dragged through the street was proved patently untrue - as is the recent right wing drivel about Obamacare causing the capital gains tax to increase and the Obamaphone nonesense. All easy to check unless your intention is simply to disrupt our country.
Back to the Ambassador: The Lybians who found him alive in the burning embassy rushed him to the nearest hospital where the emergency room doctor testified on CNN that he died from massive smoke inhalation and had no other injuries.
You sir, are a disgrace. The worst thing that could happen to America is to have narrow minded fools who think like you elected to Congress

Osama is dead and Obama call for mission accomplished, then he got his questionable credentials in National defense and Foreign policies, but the Assassination of Ambassadors Stevens and his no answer to the 3 AM call show that there was no such a mission accomplished. AlQaeda is alive and killing Americans, while Obama is campaigning and denyingy the undeniable , because is election time , and the facts hurt his ambition to make fundamental changes to our country, without the worry of a reelection. Americans are waking up from the effects from the kool-aid of hope and change.
Obama is a fail. More evidences show that Ambassador Stevens request for more security was denied by Obama.

Obama is taking money for food stamps to give them to Mexicans. But Obama is covering it up.
The Obama administration met with Mexican officials and held other events to discuss enrollment in food stamps and similar programs roughly 30 times since President Obama took office, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack revealed in a recent letter to Congress.
This summer, the Agriculture Department removed from its website a series of Spanish-language radio ads that featured one character being pressured to go on food stamps.
Si se puede, si se puede.
This whole thread reminds me of South Park, where they had Whoppi Goldberg at the Oscars doing her comedy routine. All she said was, "Republicans are stupid......they're stupid"
Libs need fresh material. These same talking points are getting stale.
"This is deadly earnest. How they can justify ... raising taxes on the middle class that has been buried the last four years?"
-Joe Biden 10-3-12
At least Joe is honest, today admitting the Obama regime has buried the middle class.
As of 10.01.2012 there were 10,003,000 campaign donations for the year 2012. 10,000,000 grassroots donations for Obama. 3,000 corporate donations for Romney. What's amazing is that Mitt Romeny has just about as much campaign donation totals with his 3,000 corporate donors as Obama does with his 10,000,000 grassroots donors.
Backhouse-- putting your drivel into a official format is as worthless as your facts. The bus is going off the cliff and you are sitting in the back cheering but have no idea where it is going.
Mike-424215-- are you expecting anyone to believe that no personal donations were given to Romney and Obama"s are all from people or as you call it grassroots? Your math is as perverted as your belief that the boy-god will make things better for you. You really need to get out more often, really it will help.

It is actually quite simple to explain. Republicans are not worried about losing Texas. They have more registered Republicans so the odds go up they would disenfranchise their voters. Make sure she has proof of identification when she shows up.
Billy...Billy...Billy,
1. Do I need to remind you that 911 happened on GW Bush's watch, even though warned?
2. Do I need to remind you that GW Bush invaded Iraq who had nothing to do with 911?
3. Do I need to remind you that GW Bush lied about the intelligence regarding WND in Iraq?
4. Do I need to remind you that Romney has hired GW Bush's foreign policy advisers to be his?
Unfortunately, the "debate" formats used in the vast majority of elections nationwide, are not truly "debates" at all, but are often are little more than than stump speeches, featuring the same tired partisan "talking points" and a disrespect for objectivity and rationality. Anybody who has actually participated in formal 'Forensic" debates, Oxford, Cross Examination and/or Lincoln-Douglas formats to be specific, know that these Presidential debates are little more than exercises in political theater or, propagandized "beauty pageants", rather than an honest, fact-based, evidence-driven discussion. We need a format where a judge or, moderator can truly control the discussion and demand that the candidates, provide the public with evidence from objective sources, rather than subjecting us to more deluded partisan rhetoric, that reinforces the ignorance or, biases of viewers. Normally otherwise intelligent people, have been so saturated with BS, most don't have a firm grip on what is truly rational fact. The parties, who organize these debates, like every other political event, desire nothing more than another round of the same crazed junk that spews forth from television, radio and the internet daily. It would be a welcome change, to have a real, truthful, evidence-based discussion, objectively moderated, rather than more partisan bilge, designed to further misconception, rather than rationally inform.
Ol_Doc
Why did the UN ask Bush to invade Iraq?? Watch the PBS special on it and learn some facts.
FYI We just recieved our 2nd credit downgrade. China and Japan have stopped loaning us money. The federal reserve is the only ones loaning it now and Obamas got the printing presses in overdrive. The red flags are waiving but who cares Obama gave a good speech about how he's going to fix it and we will all live happily ever after. Damn the Republicans Full speed ahead! To what???
Here's the problem. At the rate Obamas spending money we will be bankrupt in another 9 to 12 months. When that happens, and it will all the checks stop coming.
I'm planning on watching the 47% on TV a hundred miles from a major city. the rioting and killing will not be a pretty sight and I damn sure don't want my family caught in the middle of it.
If you don't know what people will do when they have no money, food stamps and food, well what would you do if your family was starving at there is no place to get food.
Many of use will survive and wonder why we were so foolish to hire a community organizer to fix a financial problem.
BTW On your way to the polls. Stop by the tire shop and get your car painted.
Mitt Romney is a very boring guy. He also is a financial genius who has run many businesses.
Barack Obamas financial claim to fame. He worked at Baskin robbins when he was in high school.
We have already seen 4 yearsof blowing trillions of dollars with no success.
Only a fool keeps doing the same thing over again and expecting it to work.
FORWARD???????? Not really
Yeahhhhhh. Let's usher in yet ANOTHER new era of transparency. One in which Obama continues to stand in front of his teleprompters and lie through his teeth to the American public. You know, like he did with Benghazi? His administration knew within 24 hours that the attack had nothing to do with a silly little video that PRACTICALLY NO ONE had seen prior to his television campaign blaming it for the death or our Ambassador Stevens.
Voting him back into office would prove only one thing - the American public really IS as stupid and gullible as he thinks we are!
And hey, how about allowing our military men and women to vote?!? Jim Webb, when stumping for Obama at Virginia Beach, chastised Romney for his failure to thank the military during his nomination speech stating, "... they are owed. They are owed, if nothing else, at least a word of mention, some word of thanks or respect..."
They are apparently not, however, owed the right to cast a ballot and to have a voice in chosing their commander in chief. According to MVP, military voting numbers have decreased immensely due to the Obama administrations failure to open nearly half of the Military Voting Assistance Centers:

Everyone complains about this party and that party causing the sorry a$$ state of affairs that this great country of ours is experiencing now. The truth is that this mess has been over two hundred years in the making. There was just as much corruption and back room deals back in the 1700s and 1800s as there is today. The populace didn't know about it because there was no mass or social media like there is now. If any of you don't believe that, then you need to seriously check the history of this nation, take off the rose colored glasses, quit blindly following either political party or pull your head out of the sand or that place where the sun don't shine. Some people talk about the separation of church and state. How about the separation of capitalism and state/democracy. We have the best government that money can buy, and that is what needs to be changed. The president is just a figurehead for their respective parties. Rich Repuglicans, rich Dumbocrats, you figure it out. We need a viable third party and the Pee Potty isn't it.

Does Hillary Clinton have to tell every diplomat all over the world to take precautions in advance of September 11, or would one expect them to know that?
The ambassadors have no authority to make things "safer". That is the responsibility of the Secretary of State. They were turned down by Clinton on several occaisions for more security. You see, Obama wants us to believe that the war of terror is over. We have our answer, it isn't over.
Irvmani
Really, I'm not asking Mr. Obama to make things better for me. I've been holding on ever since your party destroyed everything starting back in 2003. What I'm counting on is that by electing him, it will put the brakes on the tealibanians and keep the military out of their hands and the constitution safe for four more years. I despise everything they stand for and I'm betting the people of this nation will not make the very same mistake Afghanistan did when they let their own Taliban take over their country and put them under sharia law. I know, you terrorists tell us you don't believe in sharia law. You simply believe this nation should be living according to your own interpretation of your own developed god.
Bolton -
You are ALMOST as good a liar as Obama!
Well, actually, he isn't a good liar, either. Anyone with the intelligence of a pissant knew that he was lying every time he said the Benghazi attack was a spontaneous demonstration wherein the demonstrators just HAPPENED to be toting their RPG's....
Care to recognize what we have under the four years of Obama?

Democrats, Republicans plot post-election assault on Medicare, Social Security
By Kate Randall
3 October 2012
Discussions are underway in the US Senate to forge a plan for sweeping cuts to social programs in the aftermath of the November 6 election. The New York Times reported Tuesday on moves by a bipartisan group of senators to come to an agreement so as to avert automatic spending cuts mandated in last year’s deal to raise the debt ceiling. That agreement was signed by President Obama on August 2, 2011.
Under the debt ceiling deal, Congress’ failure in 2011 to produce a deficit reduction bill with at least $1.2 trillion in cuts triggered some $1 trillion in across-the-board spending cuts or “sequestrations”—including to social programs such as Medicare and to the Defense Department—to begin in January 2013 and extend over 10 years.
These automatic cuts would coincide with the expiration in the new year of the Bush-era tax cuts as well as payroll tax reductions and federally funded extended unemployment benefits. The Obama White House and congressional Republicans agreed in December 2010 to extend the Bush tax cuts, including for the richest Americans, until the end of this year, while reducing the payroll tax and extending jobless benefits for the same period.
The combination of these expirations and the mandated deficit reduction measures has been called a “fiscal cliff” that threatens to plunge the economy into a deeper slump.
The “fiscal cliff” is being seized upon by the White House and both big business parties as a pretext to implement austerity measures of historic proportions. Cuts targeting Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, public education, food stamps and other vital social programs will mean impoverishment and suffering for millions of working class families…

Democratic candidates face vulnerabilities such as the job market and global tensions flaring, Republican vulnerabilities are the candidates themselves.

Yesterday I posted excerpts from the latest issue of Rolling Stone and apparently it did not sit well with some who post or visit here.
Those of you who make efforts to delete a post because you don’t like the contents, are not going to change the message, that your party and its policies would be bad for the country. And if your actions here are any indication of what your party would do if elected and in the majority, then your deleting a post just tells us how little regard you would have for those who don’t vote for your party.

Mitt Romney's Real Agenda
By Tom Dickinson
If you want to understand Romney's game plan, just look at what Republicans have been doing in Congress
FEWER JOBS
GOD, GUNS AND GAYS
DRILL AND POLLUTE
BASH IMMIGRANTS
ENRICH BILLIONAIRES
SLASH GOVERNMENT
DESTROY HEALTH CARE
The GOP and its followers deal in fear and intimidation, they can try voter suppression, they can try to pad the ballot count by hiring a company created specifically by GOP operatives to falsely register questionable potential voters in swing states. They can try telling lies, cheating and any chicanery they think may work, and they do, yet they apparently can’t make themselves and their policies likable to a majority of voters and the current polls reflect that.
Democrats get out and vote, we need EVERY single vote, only the final count matters.
MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT, IT IS YOUR VOICE
Why would ANYONE take a Rolling Stone opinion journalist as gospel? They still think Bob Dylan is relevant.
And no it wasn't me. I have better things to do than to read Rolling Stone.
I'd explain it, but you wouldn't understand.
TexasT-2966501
'Cause Bob is still relevant and unlike you, will be so long after he dies. He is an American icon.
Really Texas? the article is excellent and I can see where someone of your persuasion wouldn't agree on it or even read it. But besides yourself and your fellow republicans, there are many of a different thinking who visit here that perhaps would enjoy reading it.
You folks on the right have this peculiar notion, that everyone should think like you and totally disregard others might not agree. But that little right called the First Amendment keeps getting into your way of thinking and that is what I am using in posting my OPINION and others as I see fit.
Bib Dylan is still relevant Cat?
To who? Washed up hippies who can't let go of Woodstock?
You have got to be kidding.
Come on Jack, try and explain it. It ought to be funny.
At his heart, Romney remains a trickle down guy. Lower tax rates for the rich and less deductions for everyone. In his years as Governor of Massachusetts, corporate profits were way up and median income was down.
In his 47% comments, he let us know that he believes the rich make us prosper and the working class is just a cost of doing business. And businessmen love to lower costs.
Unfortunately, workers just happen to be consumers too and account for the lion's share of consumer spending.
Why is sales growth holding up job growth? One look at the top 1%'s share of national income (24% now, up from 10% in 1980) tells the story. Mitt's inclination is to give the rich even more.
OBAMA 2012......for the American worker's future.
He shot from the hip. And that's what you're doing. Perform even minimal research and you will see that over the years numerous reputable journalists have written for the Rolling Stone. The two of you make assumptions based on limited or zero knowledge of what you're talking about.
Your only defense is an Albany Joe HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! That's what he does when he gets caught with his pants down.
too funny Jack. You tried the look down the nose, talk down to approach regarding assuming. The same person that ASSUMED Alan knew nothing about immigration (Jack did from personal experience) only for Alan to come back and say he was a naturalized citizen. Needless to say, Jack was silent for the rest of the day. pants down indeed. HAHAHAHA
Sorry Jack, RS is a great source if you want to know what felonies your favorite artists have comitted, but as for politics, not so much.
You know it, you just can't bring yourself to say it.
Are you one of those aging hippies?
GBM, cheers for that! The GOP not only commits Voter Fraud, they also have total disregard for Free Speech unless that speech is their speech. Amazing how the right-wingers complain about collapsed posts while they delete the posts of progressives. Shows how little character they have.
White Collar Auto
I guess the following are no longer relevant to you either ... Johnny Cash, Sarah Vaughan, Woody Guthrie, Elvis ... I could list in the thousands still alive and performong in their 60s and 70s. or dead. I listed some dead folks because that might be your speed.
WCA,
You keep proving my point.
BCWC i doubt Elvis is relevant in politics. now you're skirting around the implication RS sucks as a source of political info.
Johnny Cash, Sarah Vaughan, Woody Guthrie,
Who are these folks?
Obama Czars?
I don't think you folks know what "Relevant" means.
blackcatwhitecat - clearly the little boys - CA &WCA - can't keep up with you!
Obama/Biden 2012
Although I don't read it with near the same frequency as I did when I was younger (much younger), Rolling Stone does mix in some relevant political articles and commentary.
In the pre-Internet days it was a great place to read the latest from PJ O'Rourke, Hunter S Thompson and others.
It is still one of the few print magazines to devote several pages to a political topic and allow journalists to go beyond "bullet points" or "soundbites" and make a compelling fact-based argument.
yeah that's it. seeking the sycophant always looking for attention and approval.
Dylan is still relevant. You see excerpts from his work every day. TV shows and movies and ads still use his music. If you would listen and if you were accepting enough, you would know.
As for Rolling Stone magazine, you obviously have not read it. It has always been a source for social and, yes, political commentary. Just because it speaks to a different audience does not mean it doesn't have a voice.
Those of you on the right seem to have a lot of difficulty accepting variety, diversity and non-standard inputs to the political scene.
Because I was at work, not for lack of a response.
Is this even English? Can someone decipher what he's trying to say?
Got a clue for you, Caesar Augustus: You're way out of your league on this site. Now go away and let the adults talk.
what a joke you lefties are. Seriously. now RS is a credible, viable source for political news. I guess I can start citing family circus as well.
you grew up in a commune didnt ya? Former Family International member eh?
here we go again with the Smarter than thou. Jackie you are in fine company with Seeking and Ruken (Xabre). stay up in that ivory tower. Jack just another run of the mill pompous azz. Dime a dozen and zero substance.
You not only have serious anger issues, but I suspect you suffer from an overwhelming inferiority complex.
Caesar, I have to agree with Jack. You're out of your league on this site.
We're trying to have a cogent discussion. You are simply throwing out labels and epithets.
Jack in Portsmouth - don't worry about CA - he did the same "look down the nose" accusation to me yesterday. It's a sign he has no arguments so he'll just attack you. It's his MO.
Obama/Biden 2012
oh because this is a liberal think tank of the most sound minds. LOL.
now Portsmouth took a semester of pyschology at the JC.
Sure Freud if you say so doesnt make it true but in your small mind your right and relevant.
right like Hey RS is relevant. very cogent of you
and Seeking, I distinctly remember thetotas calling you out on that as well. a lot of people do. Nemisis has a pond to show you
you'll have to pardon my 'ignorance' as I dont find the three of you intelligent at all. its more of a dog and pony show. i would wager its an insecurity issue.
And it shows - the only thing you and WAC have better to read is your family values magazine, Playboy. Those opinion pieces are full of such juicy tidbits complete with big words like ooohhh, aaahhh, and more, more, more. Tis no wonder you get all charged and listen to every inane talking point on Fox News and Limbaugh - thumbing through the editorials of your favorite mag has you erect and at attention.
Caesar, you could do some research and find out the facts on Rolling Stone and political commentary.
But you would have to read and open up your mind...
Fielden & Seeking,
I'm through with him. He sounds like someone who used to post on this site under a different moniker, but I can't think who--Damage?
RedDev - I believe Playboy is a little to intelligent for either CA or WCA.
Jack - he DOES sound a little like Damage doesn't he?
Obama/Biden 2012
Jack, again, I have to agree with you. I'm done!
Damage? he's still around. He calls you port in jacksmouth not I. Thanks Jack, you successfully danced around WCA per usual and everybody else. A lot of empty words and long winded pontification. then you spike the ball and declare victory. Of course your done with me and believe no loss of mine
texas t... right on target!!
these are the same sheepole that believe SNL, msnbc, mayher, letterman are impartial , relevant news sources!!!!. They yelll OaHHaaBahaaaMMaahaaAAA!!!! Pass the Koolaid, where is my flower-pot hat??!!
Caesar A... great posts!!!! keep yelling "squirrel" to the sheepeole!!. They need to wake up!!
border joe - if you believe maher, letterman or SNL is anything more than entertainment, you seriously need help. However, make sure to add Limbaugh to the group as he is not even ranked as an entertainer - just a rightwing blowhard!
Obama/Biden 2012
hey border, its them yelling squirrel to distract from the real issues. RS political articles are considered advocacy journalism like mother jones yet its credible. Yeah FR is way out of my league. Sanctimonious libs and their smug attitudes further show what clowns these people are. Its all FOX NOISE or whatever stupid little name or pseudonym they can think of. ONE news outlet and the rest of the crappy media is objective. BS. Fox is no better than NBC really. They can have their circular reasoning. 'I know because I know'.
The picture of Elway supporting Murtt makes me sick. I used to worship Elway. Football God, is what I referred to him as. Those days are over with. Of course, he is rich which explains his worry and support of a heartless, scary tyrant. Elway - you are pathetic.
Suds...
Why do you care who a retired quarterback supports ??? Are you now unhappy that the team you support won a couple of Super Bowls ???
Mr. Elway has turned himself into a successful businessman and thru the years has proven himself to be ambitious, intelligent, and inspiring. Just like Mr. Romney !!!
Enjoy !

"Objectivity", rationality, fact from unimpeachable sources, possessing the education to be able to separate fact from propaganda and theory from real world results, and a desire to learn beyond one's own biases, and ignorance, are fast becoming rare qualities, in a nation that perceives itself as the "great melting pot". We were once more willing and able, to take the best, most rational ideas and make them policy, no matter where they originate. Polarized by the modern media's skillful propaganda, designed to anger, frustrate and misinform, people have become separated to the extreme, unable to collaborate and compromise, as the Constitution was designed. Most people were once self-described moderates, that rationally leaned a little one way or, the other, depending on the issue. They realized for all our differences, we really have FAR more in common, than different. The political leaders we elected, reflected that honest truth. Despite the radical extremists that grabbed the spotlight from time to time, most collaborated and compromised, and knew they must represent ALL their constituents, not just those who voted for them. It's time for we passionate moderates to grab the microphone of our political discussion back from the rabble and extremists and demand that the people we elect are willing and able to collaborate and compromise, just like the Framers of our Constitution envisioned.
Wow, who wrote this article? I'm in Arizona and I've already received my mail in voting packet - like received it last week. Yeah, I'm positive that is what I've opened, completed and mailed back.
Do you think I got it early because I'm a Democrat? Or do you think the article missed listing my state because the author is Republican and like Mitt, doesn't check facts?
Nice to see you back Feisty Redhead!
Obama and Democrats all the way in 2012!
Bob Dylan's musical poetry is only relevant if you think about it - that leaves out most Republicans.
I am a job creator: A manifesto for the entitled
By Steven Pearlstein
I am a private-equity fund manager.
I am the misunderstood superhero of American capitalism, single-handedly creating wealth and prosperity despite all the obstacles put in my way by employees, government and the media.
I am a job creator and I am entitled.
I am entitled to complain about the economy even when my stock price, my portfolio and my profits are at record levels.
I am entitled to a healthy and well-educated workforce, a modern and efficient transportation system and protection for my person and property, just as I am entitled to demonize the government workers who provide them.
I am entitled to complain bitterly about taxes that are always too high, even when they are at record lows.
I am entitled to a judicial system that efficiently enforces contracts and legal obligations on customers, suppliers and employees but does not afford them the same right in return.
I am entitled to complain about the poor quality of service provided by government agencies even as I leave my own customers on hold for 35 minutes while repeatedly telling them how important their call is.
I am entitled to a compensation package that is above average for my company’s size and industry, reflecting the company’s aspirations if not its performance.
I am entitled to have the company pay for breakfasts and lunches, a luxury car and private jet travel, my country club dues and home security systems, box seats to all major sporting events, a pension equal to my current salary and a full package of insurance — life, health, dental, disability and long-term care — through retirement.
I am entitled to have my earned income taxed as capital gains and my investment income taxed at the lowest rate anywhere in the world — or not at all.
I am entitled to inside information and favorable investment opportunities not available to ordinary investors. I am entitled to brag about my investment returns.
I am entitled to pass on my accumulated wealth tax-free to heirs, who in turn, are entitled to claim that they earned everything they have.
I am entitled to use unlimited amounts of my own or company funds to buy elections without disclosing such expenditures to shareholders or the public.
I am entitled to use company funds to burnish my own charitable reputation.
I am entitled to provide political support to radical, uncompromising politicians and then complain about how dysfunctional Washington has become.
Although I have no clue how government works, I am entitled to be consulted on public policy by politicians and bureaucrats who have no clue about how business works.
I am entitled to publicly criticize the president and members of Congress, who are not entitled to criticize me.
I am entitled to fire any worker who tries to organize a union. I am entitled to break any existing union by moving, or threatening to move, operations to a union-hostile environment.
I am entitled to a duty of care and loyalty from employees and investors who are owed no such duty in return.
I am entitled to operate my business free of all government regulations other than those written or approved by my industry.
I am entitled to load companies up with debt in order to pay myself and investors big dividends — and then blame any bankruptcy on over-compensated workers.
I am entitled to contracts, subsidies, tax breaks, loans and even bailouts from government, even as I complain about job-killing government budget deficits.
I am entitled to federal entitlement reform.
I am entitled to take credit for all the jobs I create while ignoring any jobs I destroy.
I am entitled to claim credit for all the profits made during a booming economy while blaming losses or setbacks on adverse market or economic conditions.
I am entitled to deny knowledge or responsibility for any controversial decisions made after my departure from the company, even while profiting from such decisions if they enhance shareholder value.
I am entitled to all the rights and privileges of running an American company, but owe no loyalty to American workers or taxpayers.
I am entitled to confidential information about my employees and customers while refusing even to list the company’s phone number on its Web site.
I am entitled to be treated with deference and respect by investors I mislead, customers I bamboozle, directors I manipulate and employees I view as expendable.
I am entitled to be lionized in the media without answering any questions from reporters.
I am entitled to the VIP entrance.
I am entitled to everything I have and more that I still deserve.

That about sums up Ol’Willard.
‘Bout sums up why most folks even Yahoo’s not affected by Obama Derangement Syndrome just don’t like him very much.
Saying that “it’s my turn” and thinking that We the People are going to go along with it doesn’t a Campaign make.
Good post, I.R. The one that got left out is: I am entitled to bash all the undeserving little people who feel entitled.
Congrats to your Nationals, Floyd!
Thanks again for the steaming hot cup of Colombian Supreme this morning! ;o)
I dropped off some apricot, white chocolate and pecan scones...
Congrats to your Nats IR!
gonna be fun :)
IR---congrats to your Nationals. You may want to pay me to NOT jump on their bandwagon, as the Pirates are about to wrap up their 20th consecutive losing season. There was actually a debate on sports talk radio yesterday as to which of the losing seasons was the worst.
Thanks for sharing this article. It shows the kind of thinking that allows someone to write off 47% of the country as not worthy of his consideration and attention because of their economic status. And that "entitlement" philosophy never seems to recognize the idea that "there but for the grace of God, goes I". I'm not in Mitt's league by a landslide but one lesson I've learned from this campaign is to be even more aware of the blessings in my life (the ones I had nothing to do with but should try to pay forward).
Thanks for the extra Columbian and scone this morning Betty. Sure needed that as I stayed up to late watching my Natinals celebrate. As Chris said this should be fun.....And Steeler without your Pirates beating the Braves last night I'd still be hopin' and prayin' so my apprecation...... Jack I was just getting you'll started thanks for adding to my Southernisms this morning.
Mitt Romney's zingers
by Jed Lewison Daily Kos
With reports indicating that Mitt Romney has been rehearsing and memorizing zingers for the past couple of months in preparation for Wednesday's debate, let's take a look at some of his past zingers to get a feel for what he might come up with on Wednesday night:
Yeah, so keep working on those zingers, Mitt. They're awesome.
Wonder if Mitt will have more of these gems to use tomorrow, that zinger mind of his works at the strangest of times. Anyone want to bet $10k?
Congratulations to IR and Chris for their teams great performances....should be a good championship season, enjoy. Its a given they'll be more entertaining than the debates.
Congrats to IR, Chris and all Nat fans, but they did do it while being shut out by the Phighting Phils. Bitter loser, yea. I hope and pray I will be happy Nov. 7.
Obama/Biden 2012
IR, fine post and congrats on the Nationals win and the Tigers, too!
IR:
You read something like that and wonder how does anyone defend those people, much less vote for them.
Great post. I might add,
I (job creator) am entitled to sales growth even though I paid the working class a smaller share of productivity gains and just loaned them the money to keep buying my goods and services until they could not afford the payments. Now, its Obama's fault. Slow sales growth is certainly not the result of my shortchanging the working class, since I've been making way more money.
Independent Redneck, you forgot:
I am entitled to pick the next President of the United States and to hand him his agenda for governing, which will be in my best interests, regardless of what is best for the country.
Dude, I had that one saved up for Friday. Good to see it out there though.
I guess I'll perpetrate a snarky drive by:
Eric Fehrnstrom: When I look out our planes window, the people look like little ants.
Mittronic Rombot: They ARE ants. They are ants.
Fehrnstrom: Who left Rombot turned on, we're gonna' need that battery life for the debates!
T. Money Trim/A Play Run-Creating voter fraud, to fight voter fraud. That's growing American jobs!
IR - you point out their really isn't any difference between the entitlements a hedge fund manager believes they are owed, and the entitlements an ATM bandit feels they are owed. One thing is for sure, they both redistribute wealth, which, depending on the day in the land of RWNJs, is either a good thing or a bad thing (will they ever figure that out?).
ForePlinger - "They ARE ants. They are ants." Quoting Family Guy? Snarky? Sure. Original? Hardly.
During the republican debates when Romney made the pink slip comment one of his opponents said his only concern for pink slips was not having enough to give out. I thought that comment was worth adding.
Ya' know, if you guys want to go off about "entitlement," then let's discuss the way the media gives Obama a pass on EVERYTHING, including the fact that two of his largest donors were given billions of dollars in federally guaranteed loans during the course of the last two years.
Let's talk about the fact that his best friend in Chicago (Antoine Rezko) is presently serving a ten year prison sentence for sixteen counts of political racketeering. But, the media never brings it up.
Let's talk about the fact that this federally convicted criminal brokered Obama's purchase of his Kenwood estate for a "sweetheart" price, and then sold him a patch of land adjacent to the property that originally belonged to him (Rezko).
Let's talk about the letters that Obama wrote on behalf of Rezko to state and federal officials while he was a state senator, urging them to give housing contracts to Rezko's construction-management company. The press never brings that up either.
Let's talk about the influence that Bill Ayers, a domestic terrorist and co-conspirator to murder, has had on Obama's overall political philosophy. This is a guy who belonged to an organization that set off bombs in federal buildings around Washington DC (to include the capitol), and blew up an apartment building in Manhattan. The gang also firebombed a New York State Supreme Court Judge's home, and murdered two polixce officers and a brinks security guard. (....and not for nothing but, one of the two cops that were killed was the first African American police officer ever hired on the Nyak Police Department.) Yet this filthy miscreant is one of Obama's very best pals from Chicago. WHY does a President of the United States have THAT kind of an association, and WHY doesn't the media ask him about it?
My God, you people actually whine and moan about Romney's tax returns, when you have THIS kind of knowledge about Obama, and you act as if it's nothing!
Oh, but we're not done, there's more! Then you have Obama's membership in Reverend Jeremiah Wright's "church. A church from who's pulpit Rev Wright once proclaimed that aids was created by the government of The United States to eliminate minorities. A church in which Rev Wright once said "the attacks of September 11, 2001, (were) proof that America's chickens are coming home to roost" and further stated "...not God Bless America. God damn America!" A church to which Obama belonged for twenty years, and did not disassociated himself with until he ran for President!
But, you NEVER hear about this because Obama, and his minions are giventhe "entitlement" of silence from a media that absolutely refuses to ask any questions about his, or Michele Obama's past. (I sure would like to know from where Obama got the money to go to Columbia University, wouldn't you? I sure like to see some of his, and Michele's educational records, and I'd like to know why they've been buried from public view?
Some of you act as if Obama has actually done anything in these last four years. You act as if the recession is over, and things are looking up. When the fact of the matter is that we STILL have 8+ % unemployment, gas prices are absolutely OBSCENE (and he's done NOTHING about that, btw), he's well more than doubled the deficit since taking office, and now he's on the precipice of increasing taxes on middle and upper middle income families, and he's LYING about his intentions to do so!!!!!!!!!!
What's more, we have more people on government assistance now, than at any time in the last twenty years!
What is wrong with you people? Are you psychotic, and do you require psycho-tropic medication to see that this is NOT a successful Presidency?!
We need LEADERSHIP, not salesmanship.
We need a STATESMAN, not a spokesperson.
Most of all we neeed someone who understands the internal workings of American business, and who can get this country back on track economically.
Hating successful people, and taxing the hell out of the wealthy isn't going to make any of our lives any better. It won't make us more prosperous, and it won't end high unemployment. It won't pay down the deficit, and it won't make your future anymore secure.
We tried it Obama's way for four years and it didn't work. Now it's time to change gears and move forward. We can't stay in reverse any longer.
Obama said that he was "fired up, and ready to go." So lets FIRE him, and send him on his way back to the pals he left in Chicago"
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY 2012!!!!!!
Oh, everything is supposed to be original?
What the hell are you doing here then?
T. Money Trim/A Play Run-Our economic plan; "Find the red and get ahead, find the black, it'll set you back."
The election draws neigh. Let us hope our good and able President prevails. We elected this Man with the hope of restoring the goodness, and thereby the greatness of America. While he has tried mightily to fulfill those hopes, too much lays strewn among the sewage of republican greed, and within the warped and pus filled minds of the bigoted and ignorant. If we are to regain an America worthy of the envy of our worldly peers, an America able to provide the best for Her people, and an America with the ability to lovingly lift the worlds destitute into the warm sun of the pursuit of happiness, we must re-elect this good and able man, and provide Him the attending tools to accomplish those very basic human ideals. Anything less is a disregard, even perversion, of those longed for human desires which spread fairness and equality among us all, and which are, in fact, blessed by us all. My best to our great and good President.

What infuriates me is this quote from the article:
Why does this quote infuriate me so much you may ask? Because the theme of no compormise is being bought into by President Obama even though it is the obstructionist Congressional Republicans led by Pual Ryan and Mitch McConnell were/are the ones who are unwilling to even sit at the table to DISCUSS compromise.

Did you know, for example, that a total of 375 bills that passed the Democratic-majority House have been blocked by Republicans in the Senate?
But every single one of these bills is being blocked by every single Republican in the Senate, all of whom are working in lockstep to prevent a vote.
FZ - what I find fascinating is that as the GOPTP bash the democrats as lazy, non-working stiffs, all we need to do is look at Congress to find who is and isn't working. The Democratic controlled Senate is busy at work trying to stave off the 'fiscal cliff'. The Republican controlled House packed it up for the year, walked off the job, went on holiday, leaving the country teetering on the cliff.
The House led GOPTP are the lazy, irresponsible, over entitled buffoons. Kick every single GOP/TP member out of the House on election day. They do not deserve positions of leadership, they are lowly cowards akin to dead-beat dads.

Blame, Who Me? There is something unique and troubling about today's GOP: The inability to accept responsibility for its failures. It is easier to deny the facts, blame the other side than it is to accept that they were wrong. It is easier for Congressional republicans to obstruct President Obama's efforts to fix the mess than to admit just how badly they hurt this country.
Republicans claim President Obama and democrats blame George W. Bush too much. Well, there is MUCH to blame "Dubya" for messing up; in their hearts, GOPers know this but denial is so much easier than admitting the GOP policies were a disaster. Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush share blame for today's deficit and debt mess, too. The economic collapse, the massive deficits and debts, two unfunded wars, unfunded legislation for 6 of the 8 years Bush and the GOP controlled Congress and the White House. Their answer to recession, cut taxes--just go shopping. Their answer to starting two wars, cut taxes and never mind the cost added to the debt. Their answer to Wall Street's collapse, deregulate more so that banks can cause another near Great Depression. Romney/Ryan's economic plan: let's do more of what Reagan, Bush and Bush did--maybe the fourth time of trickle down, redistribution of more wealth to the wealthy and deficit/debt-busting tax cuts will be the charm.
The polls show Romney/Ryan on the losing side. The GOP's and Romney/Ryan's answer to the losing poll numbers: blame that liberal media bias, it is purposely showing they're losing to discourage republicans from voting. Really? Unwilling to accept responsibility for running a less than stellar campaign, it simply cannot be they are really losing; it's a farce and it's the medias fault. It cannot be the GOP convention consisted of angry, red-meat tossing speeches, was disjointed and poorly organized...except for the balloon drop. It cannot be that someone "stupid", as Clint Eastwood said, invited him to speak--and his speech has been viewed nearly 2 million more times that Romney's speech. It cannot be that Paul Ryan gave an acceptance speech so filled with lies that even FOX News called it record-setting to see how many lies could be told in a single speech.
Whether it is Sarah Palin blaming the media for her own ignorance and stupid comments, or Romney/Ryan blaming the media for their campaign incompetence and the fact that people see through the smoke and mirrors of their so-called fiscal responsibility, or whether it is the GOP denying that it was THEIR PARTY which caused the Great Recession's economic meltdown, their party whose policies doubled the National debt after Reagan and Bush 41 had already quadrupled it, or whether it is denying the polls numbers, one thing is clear. Today's GOP cannot and will not accept any responsibility for its failures. It is easier to say "Blame, Who Me?" than it is to face the reality--they refused to accept responsibility for their actions. Denial is simply an easier pill to swallow than admitting THEY BUILT THAT DEBT.
Terrific post Jody. All the Republican reactions to being questioned or a stated fact, is to turn them around and accuse the Democrats of doing worse or starting it first. Classic Rovian tactics, accuse the opposition of what you yourself do or are planning to do. They know they are wrong but they can't help themselves mainly because they have nothing of substance to offer to legislate or to win a race fair and square.
They will never accept personal responsibility for any missteps...never. They are in a constant state of denial.
Exactly, Jody
Remember the rise of Rush Limbaugh on right-wing talk radio in the 90's, who succeeded so well with the workingclass conservatives his show birthed FOX News, and gradually infected the whole Republican Party with a belligerent and willfully ignorant tone? It's like a wave of filthy water rose up out of the ocean and crested with the birther movement, Sarah Palin and Paul Ryan.
Today's Republicans have nothing in common with the gentlemanly Gerald Ford or General Eisenhower, or even George H. W. Bush, for that matter. The Republican Party today is the Party of lies, demagoguery and saber rattling. Let's face it, President Obama is a moderate conservative, compared to the right-wing nutcases out there.
Jody, Iowa -
Well said, Jody.
Nicely done, Amy.
John W. Dean's book " Conservatives Without Conscience" sums the GOP culture up nicely.
As Amy correctly points out, 20 years of conservative media has been the main perpetrator in creating this mess.

Jody, great post.

Ooopsie! Romney's big donors are slip sliding away!
Fox Business' Charlie Gasparino reports that some wealthy donors who have made financial commitments to the Romney campaign are reneging, and instead, opting to send their money to Republican House and Senate candidates who they see as having a better chance of winning next month.
Citing two sources, including "a major player in Romney’s New York fundraising circles," Gasparino notes that some donors are losing faith that the Republican nominee can beat Obama.
Oops ! Even if that were true, it shows their real intent is to NEUTER the damage that Obama is capable of doing on this country !!
Good Morning IR.....great post and yes, it does sum him up, does it ever.
GOP comments on why Ryan can't explain his policy and tax plan to Chris Wallace? Things are going bad when Ryan Romney begins to fear questions asked by Fox. I wonder if the moderator will ask Romney for his angelic policy and "devilish" details in the debate? Someone's arithmetic doesn't add up.
By the way, kudos to Chicago for beating them boys.
Da Bears!
Mark, according to First Read, it would seem both candidates have problems with the details:
For Obama, one of his vulnerabilities is that he hasn’t fully described what a second term would look like. Yes, in both his convention speech and his two-minute TV ad, he’s mentioned things like adding a million new manufacturing jobs and hiring 100,000 new math and science teachers. But how does he accomplish those things
Shouldn't an incumbent President, just by virtue of his position, be able to proveide more details and stay away from sweeping comments like "we're going to a dd a million new manufacturing jobs?"
Well, for everyone not paying attention:
100,000 new teachers will be funded through the Race to the Top educational program, which the
President and Arne Duncan, Education Secretary have been enacting for 3 years.
1 million new jobs would be generated by repairing roads and bridges throughout the country, be they in
a red state or a blue state. Fully 25% of all bridges in the United states are rated unsafe by structural
engineering codes. The President has been trying to get funds from Congress for his entire term to
repair infra-structure. Other jobs can be created through green energy initiatives, rural broadband
expansion and, of course, health care reform.
Glad I could clear that up for you. Pay closer attention next time.
T. Money Trim/A Play Run-We don't have time to explain our math.
Well for everyone not paying attention everyone of those jobs listed cost the taxpayers money, money they dont have!
Dogs80: If we can't afford to fix bridges near collapse how can we afford a 5 trillion dollar tax cut for the rich? Don't say the tax cuts will create jobs. Bush's tax cuts gave 2.5 trillion over his presidency to the wealthiest Americans and our economy still collapsed. Even with 400 billion a year pumped into the economy under Bush he only averaged 123,000 jobs a year the lowest job growth rate in decades.
Okay, I will bite just this one time. Didnt say some of the things listed do not need attention because they do. The other things however are just items the left has on their agenda. If we would have spent the stimulus money in a timely way instead of lining the pockets of donors much of these needs could have been addressed.
As far as your rants on Bush I will just say I did not vote for him in the second term. Most definetly did in the first. I will not profess to have all the answers as the Liberal posters on here always do but will say the things the Presiddent has put in place have not worked.
Now lets blame Congress!
WCA - See Foreplinger's post for the way that jobs could be produced.
I think Obama can legitamately point to ways he can get 1 million new manufacturing jobs. The question is how can Mitt get 12 million new jobs? He doesn't even say in which sectors or how. More tax cuts will not increase hiring see Larry's post.
In addition, trade agreements made by the administration in Asia and recent ones in South America could allow more exported manufacturing goods. WCA, eventually business, manufacturing or otherwise will not be able to keep producing at the level to keep up with demand. Hiring will improve in manufacturing and construction. Other sectors like Health care and medicine will continue to grow as they have even despite the recession. On a broader note, as things improve other professional service and personal service sectors will improve. Just the other day, read an AIA study saying that by 2014 experienced architects will be in great demand due to the tremendous losses, retirements or profession changes since 2007.
Construction in the housing sector is improving. Near the end of the summer a rare bipartisan bill involving infrastructure repair was signed. That will help during next spring and summer construction season. I think that a plan Obama can use is the encouraging of private/public partnerships to fund a infrastructure jobs bank.
Finally, I know you don't like Jennifer Granholm, but I saw here talking about ideas she has laid out in her new book. She discussed private public partnerships for infrastructure repair of our electric grid and roadways. Also discussed an idea where companies in lieu of firing people and putting them on unemployment, instead retrained them at half pay for different jobs. Once they were retrained they would be hired back at higher tech positions the company needed. It would enable business to save costs in orientation of new workers. I see Ms. Granholm as a potential rising star moving into 2016 :}
A rant is spewing unproven or unfounded allegations. Noting that Bush's 400 billion a year tax cut with 70% going to the rich meant 2.5 trillion dollars went to them and did not create jobs and that a meltdown occurred the last year of his presidency is fact not a rant. You don't try to dispute these facts as everyone knows them so you merely ignore or beliitle them by calling them rants.
Bush is to blame! and it's for that reason, this guy is not getting my vote...

From the article above:
When the Tea Party faithful chose the worst GOP Presidential candidate in half a century from the worst GOP field of candidates in history, it’s no wonder there’re going to lose the election in a massive electoral landslide in what can only be concluded as a complete nationwide rejection of failed Tea Party governing policies and manipulative GOP media propaganda.
As pathetic as it sounds, the Governor and Congressman won’t even carry any of the states they call home; Michigan, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and California; a total of 96 electoral votes or just over one-third needed to win. Remember, the Governor’s famous car elevator is in his La Jolla, CA. beach house.
As of now, The Huffington Post’s Election Dashboard has the President winning with a whopping 332 electoral votes.
Even last Thursday and Friday’s desperate spin-control blitzkrieg from the Romney’s own unbalanced Faux network wasn’t enough to convince the majority of intelligent Americans that the Governor’s electoral votes are fast approaching Hubert H. Humphrey-like numbers of 191.
Once again, Faux showed it’s complete disregard for respected journalism practices by ignoring the truth in the latest poll numbers so they can give their brainwashed, Red Kool-Aid swilling congregation a crouton of hope. As usual, Faux created another biased, feeble conspiracy ploy to blame, demonized and insult this honorable and popular President.
President Obama is going to win re-election easily.
Anyone who thinks this race is still close suffers from severe denial. Failing to come to grips with the factually inevitable proves they are extremely delusional, insecure, and void of any humility. Faux, Limbaugh, Beck and the rest of the psychotic, lying conspiracy peddlers and their sheeple are going to suffer one of the largest election defeats in modern American history.
President Obama will win a much deserved second term and the Tea Party will become as obsolete and contrite as an unwanted white elephant.

Well said, Tomas. I think the American public has finally caught on to the obstructionist fraud that defines the Tea Party. And Jody, I agree that the GOP/TP is the Party of Denial. Tax cuts and trickle-down haven't worked, ever. Except for the wealthy.
4 more for 44!
Great post Tomas, with today's decision by the Judge in Pa. on their voter ID requirement not acceptable for this election and the Voter registration fraud attempts in Fl being thwarted, the great awakening of the American electorate has begun.
These failed attempts will not be forgotten in coming elections and hopefully they will encourage more people to engage in the political process so in future years we will get better qualified candidates elected by a better educated voter.

Thomasgrande - I have used Hufftiton Post and Rasmussen to get some type of feeling as to where this race is at. Rasmussen has it this way which seems to be a little closer than what Huffinton has.
Also Rasmussen has the daily Presidential race at 48% to 47% for Obama.
It depends what side are you betting on, but I would say that someplace in the middle of both of these Polls is where we are. It is close no matter which way you slice it.
It is not over until the Fat lady sings.
Republicans just seem so darn negative. I can see it the eyes of lifelong Republicans I have known all my life. A pained expression when talk turns to Republican Congress or Mitt Romney. They expect better, but the Republicans of today leave a lot to be desired. They put all their eggs in the pockets of the rich when they repeatedly tried to make trickle down work, but it never will. Many of the rich Republicans just refuse to admit they have acquired too much of our income for our economy to prosper as it once did.
The middle class is buried in debt, sales growth lags, and the rich just get richer. Trickle down is not working for America. Too many of the rich refuse to let it trickle down.... it's called GREED. Imagine this human weakness, well documented throughout history, being the achilles heel of Reagan's great plan (supply side or trickle down economics).
Darn bleeding heart conservatives cannot see anything but their idealized version of the rich (we built that). The reality is we (rich Republicans) own that and that and that and we want more. Damn the middle class, full speed ahead (in wealth accumulation).

The tea party is a large enough block to prevent any who doesn't sign the pledge from getting elected but not large enough to make up for the mainstream of the republican party who are appalled by their stands. Romney's far more centrist than Ryan or most hard core tea party diehards but he has to tow the line. That's why he's suddenly trying to show his compassionate side by bringing up Romney care and flopping positions. Too late.
Because someone says so it does not make it a fact. Prove to us that and give us some background that would prove your post.
FEWER JOBS with Obama we actually have more people without a job.
GOD, GUNS AND GAYS - Another one of those wars made up buy the Liberal machine from Chicago.
DRILL AND POLLUTE - Let's not do it but let's not let others do it also.
BASH IMMIGRANTS - I'm an immigrant myself and I don't see this other war that the Liberal machine from Chicago has made up.
ENRICH BILLIONAIRES - I say enrich everyone and stop being so jealous of others
SLASH GOVERNMENT - I go for that and so half of the nation. Government is too big and they are intruding in my private life.
DESTROY HEALTH CARE - No do not destroy health care, but redo Obama's Health Care law and make it affordable for all. Keep some items and get rid of the 3,000 pages of bull.
Romney/Ryan 2012. Your country depends on it.
Actually,
We have more jobs now than under Bush and with a 2nd round of stimulus (blocked by Tea Party) we'd have even more. Growth under 1st round of stimulus was nearly 4%, now without stimulus it is falling towards 1%.
Pro-life tea party promised jobs, but has made expansion of government into women's lives their top priority. They have done absolutely nothing to help job growth.
Our oil production is up 10% in last 3.5 years, our biggest gain in many, many years. Natural gas production way up too.
An immigration bill backed by John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and other leading Republicans just 4 years ago is now off the table because of right wing Republicans opposing it. Romney just goes along with blocking a workable solution.
Top 1% earn 24 % of nations income now, up from 10% in 1980. The other 99%'s share is 15% less as a result. Enriching everyone is fine by me, but it is the rich who are being enriched by the redistribution of income since 1980.
Slash government. Our defense spending is as much as the rest of the world combined. Romney plans to increase it even more. Subsidies for oil industry. Romney won't cut that either. Bush said he'd cut government, but just made it bigger. Its the standard Republican line.
Obamacare will work. It will reduce healthcare spending (according to CBO). Bad press from Tea Party and others brought to you by the health system profiteers.
OBAMA 2012 ...... for Americ's Future.
shaak322 - I did not see any reputable links outlining this facts. Have you ever lived in a country where redistribution is the norm? Try living in Spain, Greece, and just 90 mile form Key West, Cuba.
I'm definitely not in the 1% and I don't consider myself part of the silly WSO 99%. But I do pay my 20% tax every year without having to rip the rich. I say everyone needs to pay taxes so let's come out with a fair % without claiming any deductions.
Redistribution has never worked.
Since the point the country stopped being under Bush's budget and became Obama's in Oct. 2009 even without a budget almost as many jobs were created each month as under Bush each year. Bush was a disaster and Romney want's to follow in his footsteps. Democrats aren't jealous of the rich just those who do everything they can to avoid paying their share. Kerry and Perot were far richer than Romney but were open with their finances and didn't run on lowering their taxes that last year for Romney ran 10.3% even lower. If he passed a 10% cut and eliminated capital gains he'd pay nothing. Is nothing ok for someone making 13 million a year according to conservatives? I guess if he gets his way we will have to begin taxing those making 15K a year at Walmart or Staples.
We've always had and always will have redistribution. Anything that's paid for with taxes is redistribution. When a gentleman farmer who doesn't grow crops gets a $1,000,000 check from the government to not plant or an ethanol producer $50,000,000 as a subsidy it's all redistribution and those are some republicans support.
If you base taxes on what the poorest can pay instead of a progressive tax like every 1st world nation has you'd succeed in turning us into a third world country. Is that the republican plan?
Concerned Citizen,
Redistribution of income has increased top 1% share of income from 10% in 1980 to 24% today.
Sources include The Economist, Politico/Stiglitz, Huffington Post, Think Progress, etc. Just google US income distribution, top 1%.
Republicans don't like to talk about redistribution of income when the rich benefit.
shaak322, can you get any sources that are more centrist? No, I guess not.
What percentage do you think is fair for you?
Look we already have redistribution as you have stated, the problem starts when enough is not enough.
What percentage do you think is fair for you? Please do respond.
Dear Concerned
The economist is very centrist. If you bothered to read any of these sources, you would see other sources such as Bureau of Labor Statistics listed. Liberal sources use government statistics for the basis of their arguments as well.
You are in denial. Time to change your news source from the right wing propaganda machine.
By the way, what are your sources for all the false charges you make.
shaak322 - good luck trying to get sources from Concern. She just makes things up as she goes along. I had her on ignore and just put her back on. She's not worth the effort and is totally in denial about facts or reason.

Can anyone explain to me what Romney means in the following quote: "I'm not going to take something that they've purchased", referring to letting young people who have been given temporary visas since Congress would not pass the Dream Act stay in this country. Does Mitt somehow think citizenship can be purchased? How much does he think it costs? Is this his secret plan to balance the budget?
mornin SF.....is it because there is a fee required for a temp visa?
I wonder, sometimes, Steeler Fan, if you folks ever spend any time off of this site:
US President Barack Obama announced last week that the US will begin charging US$465 starting August 15 for temporary work permits for young illegal immigrants. Obama announced the new immigration policy back in June which requires immigrants to have arrived in the US before their 16th birthday, be 30 years old or younger, lived in the US at least five years and be in school, graduated or served in the military.
http://www.workpermit.com/news/2012-08-07/us/us-to-begin-accepting-applications-for-temporary-work-visas-from-young-illegal-immigrants.htm
Is your Google Key broken?
Chris, Dorr, MI
As far as J1, J2 or O visas the answer is no.
thanks bcwc!
I guess robmehood thinks they have to pay for their visas.
Can't you guys read for God's sake?
Get yo damn head out of the sand.
My point, WCA, was that Mitt makes the whole thing transactional. Like it was a contract with these young people--well, they bought a visa for $465 so I guess I've got to honor it. How about doing the morally right thing because it is the morally right thing to do? Same thing when he couldn't hire illegals because he was running for office. Not because it was morally wrong or even against the law but because it would hurt his public image. I guess I was too subtle.
To qualify for the temporary amnesty they paid a large fee. I don't know if it's $500 or $1,000 but it was a chunk.
Steeler--Mr. Romney is all about the letter of the law--not the spirit of the law. For example, I heard Ms. Romney say in an interview that they pay 10% of their income to the church and that Mitt was very good about doing that. From what I understand, 10% is the minimum required for tithes to their church. He has said the same about his taxes. No more, no less than is required. That speaks volumes about his character, and how he would be as president.
"We have met the enemy and he is us!" Pogo by Walt Kelly
Nurse, sorry but you're wrong. Tithe literally means "one tenth" not "The minimum required..."
I know this is satire, but couldn't you just see Congresswoman Bachmann ACTUALLY coming out with this position?
can't we just ban Bachmann?
It is a clear fact that the YouTube video ignited spontaneous demonstrations in
all Muslim countries including Libya. Libya was never spared from the anti-YouTube
video demonstrations witnessed in all Muslim countries including Indonesia.
Republicans must therefore not be allowed to mislead the public that similar
spontaneous demonstrations witnessed in all Muslim countries never occurred in Libya.
In Libya, the spontaneous anti-YouTube video demonstrations provided a good
opportunity for bad people who had been longing for such opportunity to arise to terrorize American Embassy. These ill-minded people took advantage of the spontaneous demonstrations to attack our Embassy with weapons left behind in the streets of Libya as a result of the just ended war against
Gadhafi.
Question-- Did spontaneous demonstrations against the YouTube video witnessed in Egypt and all
other Muslim countries occur also in Libya?
Answer--- Yes
Question---Can we believe Republicans when they insist that similar demonstrations against the YouTube video
witnessed in all Muslim countries never occurred in Libya.
Answer-- No. Muslims in Libya just like Muslims in all other Muslim countries demonstrated
against the YouTube video but the Libyan demonstrations were hijacked by
ill-minded people who had all along been longing for an opportunity like that
to occur. They took advantage of the demonstrations by mingling with the rest
of demonstrators to attack the USA Embassy with heavy weapons left behind in
the streets as a result of the just ended war.
So Sam-499819, why did spoke woman Rice had to resign her post?
Sure the Dems are always telling the truth and if we believe that then we are deaf, blind and mute.
Please look at the facts, they are all there. Even the administration is now sending conflicting information. Great team of professionals that can not get their stories correct.
DaNoid - It actually sounds exactly like something Bachmann would say. She and that idiot from Nevada who was running in 2008 and wanted football uniforms banned because they were black so they represented the devil. Can't remember he name.
Now I see the Republicans are calling for Susan Rice to resign as Ambassador, which of course she hasn't done. Can we get a few of them to resign since they have so utterly failed in their jobs.
Obama/Biden 2012
So we should replace them with the "team of professionals" who brought us 9/11, the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan?
SeekingSanity
Actually, she is being asked to resign by a few, however it is my believe that it was not her fault for communicating, she was probably told to do so. What I would like to see is the administration and the President taking accountability for trying to change the narrative. This was a planed attacked as it has been already marked as fact.
The right wing criticizes Obama for allowing statements to be made before the facts were in but would have accused him of a cover up had he waited. You can't win with conservatives, until Nov. 6th of course.

i guess elway doesnt want to pay his fair share in taxes.
Fail. Elway ALREADY pays his "fair share" of taxes. The rich pay the most in this country.
Our country has a huge SPENDING PROBLEM and some just want more free stuff ... paid by others.
Romney's actual tax rate was 10.3% last year and with his 20% cut and elimination of capital gains it would be zero. Is that low enough? I wonder who'll pay for the hundreds of millions he wants to spend on increased military and a new space program when the rich pay nothing? Over 30,000 people making over $1,000,000 a year paid no taxes, under Romney's proposed tax policies that would triple at least. What a country.
P.S. Income taxes only make up 43% of all taxes. Payroll and other taxes make up the other 57% and most are paid by the 99%. More taxes are paid at the state and local level than either with property, personal property, gasoline, utility etc. and they too are mostly paid by the 99%. Quit picking and choosing your taxes to make a point.
Can someone please explain to me why "legend" athletes like Elway and Kurt Shilling seem to always be jerks and Republicans. I can count Michael Jordan and retiring "blue dog" Heath Shuler on the Dem. side, but then I add crazy Jim Bunning, Tom Osborne and Nolan Ryan on the GOP side. In the past when I have asked this, some have answered that the reason is due to a life of privilege, being told you are the best. Others commented that talented athletes see themselves as superior to others.
bank account numbers. they are told how the republican platform will help them maintain their large bank accounts and that is the focus because their 'earning' years are few compared to other professions.
Osborne didn't have a choice other than republican in go big red nebraska. Dems other than Bob Kerry don't make much headway in this state...
Like Bob Kerry in Neb., Kansas also at one time had it's share of sane and moderate. I wonder if it can all be blamed on the aquifer drying up. By the way - please explain the Big 10 move to me. I'm waiting for the Mizzou response also. Granted the Cornhuskers gigantic size combined with lack of speed looks good in the Big 10, but the no defense, pass happy Big 12 is a lot more fun.
although i live in Lincoln, NE, i'm not a husker fan (have rooted for FSU for as long as i can remember). As far as i can tell, the move to the big 10 was all about money. There was some talk about the texas sports channel and how they were all up in arms about it, but the main reason i can see is that the big 10 was going to give them a better cut of the tv money than the big 12.
all i know is i laughed long and hard at the loss to UCLA, and would have been much happier if Wisconsin hadn't blown Saturdays game... It is absolutely hilarious to watch all the depressed husker fans following a loss...
And over 30,000 with over $1,000,000 in income paid no income taxes last year. Part of the 47%.

ABC News -
At White House Request, Lockheed Martin Drops Plan to Issue Layoff Notices
Defense contractor Lockheed Martin heeded a request from the White House today — one with political overtones — and announced it will not issue layoff notices to thousands of employees just days before the November presidential election.
Lockheed, one of the biggest employers in the key battleground state of Virginia, previously warned it would have to issue notices to employees, required by law, due to looming defense cuts set to begin to take effect after Jan. 2 because of the failure of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction — the so-called Super-committee, which was created to find a way to cut $1.5 trillion from the federal deficit over the next decade.
Such massive layoffs could have threatened Obama’s standing in the state he won in 2008 and is hoping to carry again this November.
On Friday, the Obama administration reiterated that federal contractors should not issue notices to workers based on “uncertainty” over the pending $500 billion reduction in Pentagon spending that will occur unless lawmakers can agree on a solution to the budget impasse, negotiations over which will almost definitely not begin until after the election.
Contractors had been planning to send out notices because of the WARN Act — Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act — which according to the Department of Labor requires “most employers with 100 or more employees to provide notification 60 calendar days in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs.”
In a statement Friday, GOP Senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte accused Obama of putting “his own reelection ahead of the interests of working Americans and our national security by promising government contractors that their salary and liability costs will be covered at taxpayer expense if they do not follow the law that requires advance warning to employees of jobs that may be lost due to sequestration. … Apparently, President Obama puts politics ahead of American workers by denying them adequate time to plan their finances and take care of their families. The people who work in the defense industry and other government contracting companies deserve as much notice as possible that they are on track to lost.

The world witnessed spontaneous demonstrations by Muslims against the YouTube video in all Muslim countries.
Republicans have continued to mislead the public that no such demonstrations took place in Libya.
How comes Libya is the only Muslim country that never experienced anti-YouTube video demonstrations?
Can Republicans explain to all Americans why they believe that the anti-YouTube demonstrations experienced in all Muslim countries never occurred in Libya? They have continued to lie that the demonstrators in Libya were all terrorists and not Muslims demonstrating against the YouTube video as was seen in all other Muslim countries including Indonesia.
They do not want to accept that ill-minded people in Libya took advantage of the spontaneous demonstrations to attack our Embassy. Heavy and sophisticated weapons left behind by the recently ended war in Libya are in the hands of almost everyone in the streets of Libya. The defeated Gadhafi followers still keep the weapons they ran away with or picked along the streets and do not need any training to use them any time they find any slightest opportunity to do so like they opportunity they got when all Muslims were demonstrating against the YouTube video.
Our murdered ambassador knew he was on a muslim "Deathlist" and requested additional security but Obama turned down that request!

Why can't you merely accept the fact you learned the details as they became available?

Posting the same disproven garbage over and over again means that you are either naive, stupid, or a liar.
Which is it?
FACTS.....that's what Obama is vulnerable to
He's vulnerable if you twist them enough. Luckily most of the country is intelligent enough to research for ourselves.
Totally agree that the key to Romney's success is differentiating himself from George Bush. The simplest answer I would have is that this is the economy you end up with when you follow a big government Republican with a big government Democrat. What has happened when the government takes over the private sector? Look no further than the housing and student loan crises- unfunded liabilities and complete economic meltdown. Now we have Obama and Bernanke trying to blow up the balloon again. At best we end up crippled like Japan and at worst broke like Greece. There is another way- get out of the way!!
We definitely need change in November. I don't like either party and I am not a big fan of Romney but he is a better choice. The economy is in the toilet and we can't survive 4 more years of this crap. Vote all these politicians out in November. I don't know if America will ever recover from this administration and its blatant failure in making sure we have good paying jobs. Jobs.......Whats that? You can't find one and the Democrats want to talk about anything but the economy. You can be the best jockey in the world but if you are on the wrong horse you won't win. The President has had 4 years to change things and we are in a deeper hole than 4 years ago. Being President must be the hardest job in the world but I have no faith in the Democratic failure to get America on the right track.

"Fast and Furious" Obama's Mexican killing machine!
LOL, Darrell Issa accused of ethics violation
Melanie Sloan, head of CREW, says it's "particularly ironic that Mr. Issa engaged in conduct punishable by contempt given that he did it in effort to secure a contempt resolution against the Attorney General."
The watchdog group CREW – Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington – says Chairman Issa broke the law when he included in the Congressional Record information included in an application for a warrant. That information was sealed by court order and cannot be revealed without permission of the court.
Under federal law, applications for wiretap warrants are sealed and cannot be disclosed absent a court's permission. Nevertheless, as part of his effort to have Attorney General Eric Holder held in contempt for failing to provide documents in the House Oversight Committee's Fast and Furious investigation, Rep. Issa himself illegally disclosed documents.
CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan stated, "It is ironic that by revealing the warrant application to further his effort to have Attorney General Eric Holder held in contempt, Rep. Issa was willing to flirt with his own potential contempt charge."
Rather than releasing the warrant application to the media directly, which would clearly have been prosecutable, Rep. Issa inserted the information into the Congressional Record. This way, he shielded his otherwise illegal conduct behind the Speech or Debate Clause of the Constitution. Evidence also suggests Rep. Issa or his staff may have directed reporters to the Congressional Record to ensure the information contained in the leaked warrant application was discovered and further publicized. Such actions, which could constitute "republication" of the material, might not be subject to the same constitutional protections.

Once a snook Darrel Issa; always a snook. His day is coming because most un-convicted felons usually get tripped up.

Nazarite is blaspheming every time he posts...
The word denotes generally one who is separated from others and consecrated to
God.
--- See Numbers 6:1-21
Nazarite IS NOT ANYWHERE close to consecration to God....He is a hater, and God
does not consecrate haters, liars, bigots, racisits like Nazarite. God is Love!
Read 1 John 4.
Nazi....Give us the chapter and verse where
- Jesus said "when dealing with vile people like you who are incorrigible, point
the back of your sandals towards them, and walk away."
It is not in any Bible I have seen...maybe in your Kuran?
“The Next To Last
American President”
Barack the next to last
American President
Had a contract put out on U.S.
His Government took power
The people lost theirs
There is only so much liberty
Either for him or for us
You will obey your racist master
Our Socialist Liberal and Chief
He will make you pay and pay
Placing our resources
off limits
Green or die you will
be
Barry is smarter than all of US
He gloats as Illegal’s flood our country
Saying “That’s another vote for me!
Moslem terrorist stimulus plan
Watch out “Big and Little Satan”
The Free Market System is the only way
Of this I will never sway
Borrow, Borrow buying votes
Debt and more debt is drowning US
“Never been proud of my country” MO
“Reparations don’t go
far enough” BO
“ I’M For Homosexual Marriage” BO
“Fast” to get your guns
“Furious” when they fail
“Angry” when they get caught
“Lying and Killing” is not a privilege; Barack
Can he bankrupt US into prosperity?
Wake up; it’s almost too late!

Interesting research.
Im just amazed at what I read on hear everyday regarding the Love for Obama. You people are simply crazy. Id guess that most of you are taking from the system (my tax dollars). This president has done nothing exept raise our debt and screw this country up. When the last time you seen him actually work? We just had a terroist attack and he hid from it and went to Vegas. Same as Clinton and Carter. I could write a book about this loser, wanna be president but I have better things to do, like work instead of sucking the system and waiting for Obama bucks. The main street media and the dead trees never provide fax, just lip service. In the end, Obama and the clown Biden will be sent home packing. Thank God!!!
You actually have the guts to post something like this after (8) years of the biggest brainless imbecile this country has ever had or ever will have for a President....George W. Bush ???
Sure Bush was bad (I didn't vote for him either) , but now Obama has taken top spot as the "biggest brainless imbecile this country has ever had or ever will have for a President"
Vote for a change in 34 days
You could write a book??? You can't even write a blog post in correct English - how in Hell are you going to write a book????
Obama follows in the grand tradition of democratic obliviousness to reality. Carter, Humphrey, Mondale, Dukakis. The only difference is those other guys occasionally told the truth.
