Subscribe to RSSON THE CAMPAIGN CHARTER HEADING TO OHIO -- The same day as the first presidential debate of the 2012 election, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan will begin a three-day debate camp.
Campaign spokesman Brendan Buck told reporters aboard the Ryan press charter Saturday afternoon Rep. Ryan will head to the battleground state of Virginia on Wednesday for an extended debate prep session, commonly referred to as ‘debate camp.’
No reason for selecting Virginia was given, however, advisers in the past have said the camp would likely be in a battleground state, likely in the Eastern time zone, and “somewhere where there aren’t distractions.”
Mitt Romney, who will be debating President Barack Obama in Denver on Wednesday, held his own debate camp in Vermont in early September.

Ryan’s first formal debate prep day was Sept. 9 in Oregon with his most recent formal debate practice session held this past Sunday in a hotel in Janesville, Wis. Ted Olson, the former solicitor general under President George W. Bush, has been playing the part of Vice President Joe Biden during practice sessions and is expected to be in the Old Dominion state next week as well.
Ryan and Biden will debate just once during this election in Danville, Ky., on Oct. 11 – exactly two months after Ryan was tapped as Romney’s running mate, also in Virginia where debate camp will occur.
The campaign told the traveling press a few weeks ago that the seven-term Wisconsin congressman has been going through large white binders -- “organized by issue areas” -- of policy information, research, and news of the day since the Republican National Convention ended at the end of August.
While there has not been much discussion regarding the VP debate in terms of debate expectations -- as most eyes are on the first presidential debate in four days -- two Ryan advisers appeared to downplay expectations for the House Budget Chairman when they spoke to the traveling press in Reno, Nev., in early September.
“Vice President Joe Biden served over 30 years in the United States Senate, he has run for president twice and has severed as vice president for the past four years. He is one of the most experienced debaters in American political life and we definitely don’t take the challenge lightly,” an adviser said.
Ryan focuses heavily on raising money Sunday and Monday -- holding fundraisers throughout Connecticut and New York City – before heading to the key state of Iowa for four campaign events. He will then turn his focus to debate prep leading up to the final weekend before the debate in Kentucky.

My single most favorite portion of Mitt Romney's policy that he's proposed thus far in his campaign is his pledge to remove Ben Bernanke as the chairman of the Federal Reserve. He shouldn't just stop there. The entire Fed should be disbanded. They're not even acting under legal authority at the moment. Executive order 11,110, signed by JFK, took away their power to print paper money and gave it back directly to Congress. That's why some of you memorabilia collectors out there have currency bills from the Kennedy Presidency that say "United States Note" at the top instead of "Federal Reserve Note." Until we take away the printing press from the Fed, we will never be forced to live within our means. The fiat money created by BB and the boys is illusionary wealth that leads to collapses like the one we're currently struggling to recover from. All of you Ron Paul candidates out there should be on board with this as well. Paul's book End the Fed is the single best source I've found thus far on the topic. If Romney truly takes action on the Fed like he's saying he will, we'll take the first step towards a true financial recovery.

Those who are so enthusiastically posting all the business successes that Romney has had should note that fast food outlets pay minimum wage. Staples pays minimum wage, and the majority of those businesses that are listed pay minimum wage. We need good jobs, not jobs that force us to ask for food stamps because they don't provide a living wage.

I hope Obama has lines ready like I know you said you won't let factcheckers stand in the way but. And to the question are you better off now? Well yes. The stock market has doubled, jobs were leaving at the rate of 700,000 and right now we have more than when I took office so that has been reversed. We have had job growth for 30 months unlike the job decreases for 8 years and the financial mess, wars, chaos that Bush left. And then he just has to gently and calmly and firmly and consistently tell the facts. I hope Obama mops the floor not by doing anything spectacular but just the steady hand of a qualified person who generally means what they say and says what they mean. Isn't it funny that we never saw the headlines like Romney team spent 3 days working on strategy to win election. These two and their staffs are clueless about winning something.. They are going to prepare to give sullen,evasive,aggressive answers to questions when they don't even know what those answers are at anytime on the campaign trail. And the answers are never the same anyway. What is preparing for 3 days going to do? Do they have the answer sheet? Like McCain you don't have to suspend your campaign to do anything. From what I have seen of Mitt he is too obsessed with money and power and a resume to focus on anything.
