Subscribe to RSSON THE CAMPAIGN CHARTER HEADING TO OHIO -- The same day as the first presidential debate of the 2012 election, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan will begin a three-day debate camp.
Campaign spokesman Brendan Buck told reporters aboard the Ryan press charter Saturday afternoon Rep. Ryan will head to the battleground state of Virginia on Wednesday for an extended debate prep session, commonly referred to as ‘debate camp.’
No reason for selecting Virginia was given, however, advisers in the past have said the camp would likely be in a battleground state, likely in the Eastern time zone, and “somewhere where there aren’t distractions.”
Mitt Romney, who will be debating President Barack Obama in Denver on Wednesday, held his own debate camp in Vermont in early September.

Ryan’s first formal debate prep day was Sept. 9 in Oregon with his most recent formal debate practice session held this past Sunday in a hotel in Janesville, Wis. Ted Olson, the former solicitor general under President George W. Bush, has been playing the part of Vice President Joe Biden during practice sessions and is expected to be in the Old Dominion state next week as well.
Ryan and Biden will debate just once during this election in Danville, Ky., on Oct. 11 – exactly two months after Ryan was tapped as Romney’s running mate, also in Virginia where debate camp will occur.
The campaign told the traveling press a few weeks ago that the seven-term Wisconsin congressman has been going through large white binders -- “organized by issue areas” -- of policy information, research, and news of the day since the Republican National Convention ended at the end of August.
While there has not been much discussion regarding the VP debate in terms of debate expectations -- as most eyes are on the first presidential debate in four days -- two Ryan advisers appeared to downplay expectations for the House Budget Chairman when they spoke to the traveling press in Reno, Nev., in early September.
“Vice President Joe Biden served over 30 years in the United States Senate, he has run for president twice and has severed as vice president for the past four years. He is one of the most experienced debaters in American political life and we definitely don’t take the challenge lightly,” an adviser said.
Ryan focuses heavily on raising money Sunday and Monday -- holding fundraisers throughout Connecticut and New York City – before heading to the key state of Iowa for four campaign events. He will then turn his focus to debate prep leading up to the final weekend before the debate in Kentucky.

Why bother? It won't help. Their message is clear. We don't care about the masses, only the wealthy who are funding our campaign so they can gain power. Save your breath, Ryan. Those you will convince were already convinced long before you climbed into the picture.
Thr Ryan camp is trying to dramatically lower expectations. The issue is fairly simple. It is in the interests of any incumbent for dabates in which they participate to be a "non-event." That is what the polls around all past debates have told us.
For challengers, they can come across as any of three things: 1) overprepared, 2) underprepared, or 3) a non-event. Any of these three options is bad for the challenger. As Nixon said, "I knew a debate was a mistake, but I did it anyway."
The only really significant outcome can be if the incumbent scores major points against the challenger (called a "Dan Quayle") and even that doesn't really seem to move the polls much.
I would bet on Joe Biden. He has been at this for a very long time and has an enclyclopedia knowledge, especially of foreign affairs and domestic issues. Not the sort of person that Ryan wants to show his "bebt clock" to.

I have some unsolicited advice for Joe Biden.
The Vice President should drop his "nice guy" persona and basically eviscerate Paul Ryan. He doesn't have to get emotional about it, just methodically bring up the facts. Somebody needs to pop Ryan's pretty balloons. He's a rabid zealot and a dangerous demagogue.

Real Clear Politics is generally cited by both FOXNEWS and NBCNEWS as a current source for reliable averaged polling data at every level of American politics.
Real Clear on Thursday afternoon reduced the number of total 'toss-up states' still in play at the national level to seven.
Only Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire have yet to be placed in either their Obama or Romney camps.
Beyond that, of the forty-three states no longer considered toss-up, Obama can lay claim with relative certainty to receiving 265 electoral votes to Romney's 191, and everyone knows that 270 electoral votes wins the Presidency outright.
So there it is.
Assuming the present trajectory of the race continues, by winning any ONE of the six largest remaining toss-up states, when added to the total number of electoral votes from states no longer deemed toss-up by Real Clear Politics, the election could most certainly be declared essentially decided. Only tiny New Hampshire with four electoral votes by itself could not push Obama over the top.
At present, with only 38 days remaining in the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama leads in ALL SEVEN of the remaining toss-up states.
In FL, with 29 electoral votes, the lead is 3.2% and holding.
In NC, with 15 electoral votes, the lead is 1.1% and holding.
In VA, with 13 electoral votes, the lead is 3.7% and holding.
In CO, with 9 electoral votes, the lead is 2.9% and holding.
In NV, with 6 electoral votes, the lead is 3.8% and holding.
In IO, with 6 electoral votes, the lead is 3.6% and holding.
In NH, with 4 electoral votes, the lead is 3.0% and holding.
If the President takes ANY ONE TOSS-UP STATE from among Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, or Iowa, but for some major unforeseen game-changing event, the presidential race should be effectively over. Done. Fini.
Conversely, for Romney to pull off an upset, he has NO CHOICE but to win, at minimum, ALL SIX of the largest remaining toss-up states. ALL SIX.
A herculean task for Mr. Romney, to be sure. In Paul Ryan's world, however, and with all apologies to his oft-quoted mentor, Ayn Rand, the task might come down to the degree to which Atlas shrugs.
Can't you just picture Paul Ryan as a judge at a Salem witch trial, sentencing some poor woman to be burned at the stake for practicing witchcraft?
He makes me think of a crazed Puritan sputtering about damnation and hellfire.
Biden has upper hand in two most important things in such debates:
First, your head should be full of ideas - expertise in major issues: Biden had been a seasoned Senator and has been the VP for 3.5 years, knowing too well most issues this nation has faced.
Second, your heart should be in the right place - the most important. Biden is for the people, Ryan for the 1%.
The game is over - Biden wins by knockout.
Fellow Dems, if you happen to be voting in person on Election Day, be sure to keep an eye out for official-looking although entirely unofficial Tea Party 'True the Vote' volunteer personnel loitering in or around your precinct, especially in hotly-contested swing states or in any state where a contest for a House or Senate seat is ‘too close to call’.
In general, these uniformly-dressed, clipboard wielding True the Vote volunteers have been instructed by their Koch Brother-funded mentors, wherever and whenever possible, to take up positions inside precincts themselves, side by side in teams of two at or near the point of ballot distribution, doing everything within their power to appear AUTHORITATIVE in an attempt to intimidate specific 'classes' of voters, i.e. African-American, Latino, and/or elderly non-Latino white Democrats, from exercising their constitutional right to vote.
As unbelievable as it may sound, at present very few states have policies which prohibit people from loitering for extended periods of time INSIDE a precinct, IF their outward behavior does not appear to pose either an immediate threat or imminent danger to voters or the voting process itself. The assumption has always been that after having voted, any reasonable person would head for the door and get on with their life. Well, not anymore, it seems.
Therein lies the problem. Polling station workers are themselves volunteers, and unless these True the Vote personnel make the mistake of becoming overtly aggressive, station workers may feel uncomfortable challenging their presence, especially when the True the Vote volunteer begins asserting a well-rehearsed litany of constitutional privileges or begins citing chapter and verse of thoroughly researched state or local ordinances governing precinct operations.
So…
If you see ANY True the Vote people at your precinct, or if you even SUSPECT that people from True the Vote are present, exercise your right to inform the precinct captain that YOU FEEL INTIMIDATED AND ARE ELECTING THEN AND THERE TO CALL THE POLICE. THEN DO SO.
Intimidation at the polls is a CRIMINAL as well as CIVIL violation of the law.
If either the precinct captain OR the local police fail to act, your next call should be to the local office of the FBI.
Not because the FBI will come to your aid, but filing a complaint enables national numbers to be tracked. Be sure to phone the FBI within earshot of the precinct captain, if possible, and True the Vote volunteers where practicable.
After that, you have as much right to stand in front of the True the Vote volunteers, facing them and taking their photographs using your cell phone cameras for posting on Facebook if the feeling arises, as they have to stand facing eligible voters. Just do so quietly, in full view of witnesses, and NEVER physically touch anybody at any time.
Fellow Dems, the Koch Brothers and their ilk are intent on influencing outcomes on Election Day AT THE POLLING STATIONS THEMSELVES. Fight back against these cretins, and fight back HARD.

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer
Investigations into whether a firm hired by the Republican Party of Florida to register voters handed in forged registration forms spread from Palm Beach to at least six other counties in the state Friday. In one, Santa Rosa County case, a form was filled out in the name of a dead person
While supervisors of elections were handing suspect forms to prosecutors around the state, the Florida GOP announced it would file an elections fraud complaint against the firm, Strategic Allied Consulting of Tempe, Ariz.
The firm has already been fired, not only by the state Republican Party but also by the Republican National Committee, which hired it to register voters in crucial swing states, including Florida. The state GOP had been paying the firm $1.3 million to register voters and the RNC about $3 million.
A spokesman for Florida’s GOP said the matter was being treated very seriously.
“We are doing what we can to find out how broad the scope is,” said Brian Burgess, the spokesman.
The Florida Democratic Party called on the state to “revoke” the ability of state Republicans to register voters while the investigation continues. Oct. 9 is the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 6 presidential election.
“It is clear that the Republican Party of Florida does not have the institutional controls in place to be trusted as a third-party, voter registration organization,” said Scott Arceneaux, executive director of the Florida Democratic Party.
Meanwhile Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor Susan Bucher, who set off the statewide probe this week when she discovered questionable forms coming from the firm Strategic Allied Consulting, said she and her staff would have to review registration forms that had come in earlier in the year to check for additional problems. She said those forms number in the thousands.
In the original batch, Bucher said, she and her staff found forms that featured similar-looking signatures and wrong addresses. News of the allegedly tainted registration forms was first made public by The Palm Beach Post Tuesday, after Bucher turned in 106 suspicious forms to the State Attorney’s Office.
By Thursday, Paul Lux, Okaloosa County elections supervisor had seen The Post’s story online and disseminated it to all the other 67 county voting supervisors.
Lux had recently sent some registration forms filed with his office to Elections Supervisor Ann Bodenstein in neighboring Santa Rosa because the purported registrants lived in her county.
“She called me and said ‘You better look at these, because some of them are a little funny,” Lux said. In fact, one the new voters in Santa Rosa turned out to deceased, Lux said.
“Ann found the Holy Grail for this kind of activity —a dead voter” Lux said.
Lux began to check and saw that some forms gathered by Strategic Allied Consulting for his county contained clear errors. The last two digits of a person’s date of birth are always included in that person’s drivers license number. But Lux found forms where that wasn’t true. Other forms contained addresses that don’t exist and others were incomplete.
On one form, a person registered as Robert Johnson and said he lived on Wexler Street and then signed the form “Robert Wexler.” Wexler is a former liberal Democratic Congressman from Palm Beach County.
Lux and his staff found dozens of questionable registrations and he contacted the county state attorney’s office. Lux, who is a Republican, said the questionable forms mostly indicated the person was registering as a Republican.
Lux also said that in his county Strategic Allied Consulting works out of Republican Party campaign headquarters. And since the firm is not registered with the state as a third party voter registration organization, it uses the identification number for such activities issued to the Florida GOP, “11-93.” But Lux blamed the firm, not his party.
“I can’t place the blame on RPOF if they hired a firm and that firm wasn’t following the rules they were given to follow,” Lux said.
That same “11-93” code was on the top of questionable forms filled out in Palm Beach County as well, but Palm Beach County GOP Chairman Sid Dinerstein said Friday the firm did not work out of GOP offices in the county.
“I’ve never met or even heard of any of those people,” he said.
Mark Andersen, Bay County supervisor, said he had at least eight suspicious forms from Strategic Allied Consulting and was still looking. He said the forms were easy to spot because they had all been filled out by one person and then signed by others.
“We sent letters out to the people whose names were on them and they all said they had not signed those forms,” Andersen said
Chris Chambless, Clay County elections supervisor, said he and his staff were looking about 60 registration forms that caught their attention, all or most with the “11-93” Florida GOP identification number. He said they were studying “patterns” in some of the submissions, but had not yet judged any to be falsified.
Brian Coley, Pasco County supervisor, said in June he had handed three suspicious forms all with the Florida GOP identification number to his local state attorney’s office but had heard nothing back. He did not know if workers for Strategic Allied Consulting were involved.
Escambia and Lee County were also investigating possible fraudulent activity.
The RNC has paid the firm $3 million in total for work in important swing states
The company’s CEO, longtime GOP activist Nathan Sproul, earlier this week defended his company and said the forged forms were due to the actions of “a few bad apples.”
“Strategic has a zero-tolerance policy for breaking the law,” Fred Petti, a company attorney, said Thursday.
Lux said he warned local GOP officials in his county earlier this month when he first learned the company was paying people to register voters. “This kind of thing never ends well,” he said.
Ion Sancho, Leon County supervisor, agreed about the risks of paying people to register voters.
“You find a phone book, open it and start filling out forms,” he said. “It saves you a lot of running around.”

I just don't think it's about either Romney or Ryan anymore. Nobody is going to be 'convinced' by anything they say. The problem is that the Republican 'brand' has gone off the deep end, and it has become clear to many - finally - that this is so.
When you foment discontent with the status quo, and say that you want to focus like a laser on the economy and jobs, and then go to Washington with a Big God Government agenda, get nothing else done, and break government so that nobody else can get anything done, your credibility is gone, period.
What do you people think you have to offer the American people? Ryan, just for being a true-believer religious extremist, killed Romney's chance of being president, and his brethern very well may cost the republicans the Senate and - yes - the House. Here in MN, a former GOP Governor Arnie Carlson, has been shunned by the GOP because he was a moderate and has spoken out against the religious right and tea party folks.
Back in the 2008 Democratic Primaries there were like 20 some debates. And the predominate victor from those debates was not Barack Obama, nor Hillary Clinton; it was Joe Biden. I think Paul Ryan's attacks will be like waves crashing on cliffs; the debate will not be definitive nor will it alter the course of the election. All it will do is make Paul Ryan look ineffective.

Today, aboard Air Force One, traveling press secretary for the Obama campaign Jen Psaki doubled down on the Obama team strategy of playing down expectations for next week’s debate with Mitt Romney. She explained to the press:
The President will have some time to prepare, and he’s been doing some studying. But it is certainly less than we anticipated because of the events in the Middle East, because of his busy travel schedule, because of just the constraints of governing. So it is less than we originally planned.
I will just take this opportunity to say that Mitt Romney on the other hand has been preparing earlier and with more focus than any presidential candidate in modern history -- not John F. Kennedy, not President Bill Clinton, not President George Bush, not Ronald Reagan has prepared as much as he has. So there’s no question that he will have a lead on how prepared he is.
Actually, given the fact that Mitt choked in the GOP debates against a field of crazies, crackpots, and criminals, it is only natural that he would require more preparation if only to keep from saying things like this at the presidential debates:

If you listen closely, it’s obvious the audio in the clip has been adjusted. However, that’s not uncommon — and that doesn‘t necessarily mean it’s MSNBC who did it. Sound technicians usually cut out the audience to ensure speakers aren’t drowned out (which you can do by simply turning the mics up and down — or you can do after the fact). However, where the controversy comes in is in the caption on the screen quoting the audience as chanting “Ryan!” Why is that controversial? Because people who attended the event say that’s not what happened, and that the MSNBC video grossly misrepresents what actually occurred.
“The crowd was yelling,” caller Sherry recounts, “the crowd was screaming ‘Romney! Romney!’ and Romney, being the gentleman [he is], we can‘t get in his head because he’s so stinking nice, he stopped us to add ‘Romney-Ryan.’”
“He introduced Governor Romney and handed the microphone to him. Gov. Romney said, ‘What about that Paul Ryan’ and the crowd immediately started chanting, ‘Romney, Romney‘ not ’Ryan, Ryan’ like the closed captioning on the MSNBC video stated,” she adds.
“At one point, the crowd started to enthusiastically chant, ‘Romney, Romney, Romney.’ We were NOT saying, ‘Ryan’ as MSNBC’s video and closed captioning suggests,” Craycraft told TheBlaze in an email.

You can learn everything necessary from the position statements on the two candidates' Web sites. All the debates are, in fact, is a kind of a beauty contest. “The President will have a little bit of time to review and practice before the debates, but he has had to balance the management of world events, governing, (They forgot to add, The View, Fund Raisers, Partying and Golf) time out campaigning and will have less time than we anticipated to sharpen and cut down his tendency to give long, substantive answers,” Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told ABC News.
Obama campaign officials are even putting a spin on the debates as a potential “reset” moment for the race, claiming they won’t be surprised if Romney gets a bounce “just by being on the same stage as the incumbent.”
One official, lowering the expectations bar even further for Obama, went so far as to note to ABC News that five out of the last six presidential challengers were judged to have won the first debate.
“The idea a president who is known for his world class oratory, is a world-class debater who laid waste to Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and John McCain, will be unprepared debates is absurd,” she said in a statement to ABC News. “The only handicap he has are his policies that have failed Americans that past four years.”

Sorry, Obama and the dems are simply following the FDR philosophy by having the feds spend their way out of a depression and by rewarding swing states with money to to gather votes as FDR did in after his election in 32 and as he ran in 36. Millions was dumped into the fed jobs programs to get him reelected. It did not work then to restore the economy as his unemployment rate was 9% until 1940 when we started to rebound in the private industry. It is not working now after 4 years of Obama in spite of the drop of welfare work rules and as FDR did, blaming Wall Street and the bankers for all the economic problems in America.
