VIDEO: The Week Ahead: Let the debates begin

In the week ahead, President Obama and Mitt Romney square off for their first debate of this presidential election, Bill Clinton campaigns for the president in New Hampshire, and early voting kicks into high gear.

It's been a GREAT week thus far for the President. I'm hoping next week his lead continues to grow in the polls and that he does well in the debates!

Okay, with apologies to John Sebastian for the slight re-write, #F1 on the old DDI jukebox this Friday goes out to our favorite redhead:

"Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around (all those re-regs!)
But those dreams have remained and they've turned around (love them poll numbers!)
Who'd have thought they'd lead ya
(who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya!
(back here where we need ya)
Yeah they tease her a lot, cause she's got 'em on the spot.
Welcome back.....

Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!"

Mitt to be demolished.

#1.4 - Fri Sep 28, 2012 3:43 PM EDT

During the debates, Mitt will impatiently look at his watch, as Bush Sr did in 1992 ... for a different reason this time, because Mitt wants to get out of the debate as soon as he can ..so he can outsource more jobs to make more obscene profits. To Mitt, action (outsourcing) is more important than talking (debates about which direction to go).

Hi all - I'm really looking forward to the debates but I'm also being cautious. Mitt knows this is his do or die time and I truly believe he'll be well prepared. He just needs to do his usual misstatement and it's all over.

I have complete faith in President Obama's abilities but I don't want to be overly optomistic. Just cannot wait for 11/7/2012!

It has been a good, good week for Team Obama. Poor Mitt has had a horrible, awful, very bad month. We know it's been good for President Obama by the wild and crazy things the conservatives have been posting. You can always tell when things aren't great on their side, they toss out all the old, failed nonsense to see if it sticks this time.

Looking forward to the debate Wednesday. I am confident President Obama will do well but will not underestimate Romney. Romney should do fine, too; he spent a week after his convention practicing and memorizing his lines.

Thanks to Mark, Domenico and the FR staff for another great week of political fun. First Read is still the best place for politics.

Time to head over to the DDI to celebrate CLARA's birthday. Looks like the party is getting started already.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Did you guys see this?

Romney's 47% video has been viewed 2 million times more than his RNC convention speech on you tube. Check this out -

http://theobamadiary.com/

If you want to just take a moment to get away from it all before October arrives and the final push from us all for the re-election of our president -

To all you music lovers out there, these have to be the most intriguing opening lines to any song ever recorded.

On a morning from a Bogart movie, in a country where they turn back time. You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre, contemplating a crime.

Wow.

Al Stewart said he wanted the lyrics to this song to be an updated version of lovers Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. And as great a story teller Stewart is with his haunting lyrics in Year of the Cat, check out the musicians on this video. Their work on this song is stunning - simply stunning.

David Axelrod wrote in a campaign letter to us:

Robert Kennedy said something during that time that struck me as simple and profound - "The future," he said, "is not a gift. It is an achievement."

That's something President Obama understands and it's why we're working so hard to see him re-elected.

It would help if we had more Senators and Congresspeople working side by side with him on our behalf for a better future.

Now is the time to do it.

Excellent article Layton. Everyone should read that. Here's an except:

Those without family fortunes, meanwhile, would see their taxes soar. Independent tax groups have concluded that the only way to replace the tax revenue lost by the proposed Ryan and Romney tax cuts would be to end tax breaks – like the one for home-mortgage interest – that directly benefit the middle class. And the poor would get the shaft: The Ryan budget slashes the Child Tax Credit, meaning that a single mother of two earning the minimum wage would watch her annual tax bill rise by more than $1,500.

Mitt will have a hard time during upcoming debates ... because as people always say - in critical moments of debates, 'gloves are off' - which is to say 'Mitt is off' - Mitt is off! You can't do well when you are 'OFF.'

What can turn Mitt on? outsourcing? money? or just his wife?

I can't believe the pundits who are underestimating President Obama in the debates.

Four years ago, one of the candidates on the stage was relatively new to the game, raw and inexperienced.

The same is true this year, but it's not Barack Obama.

He may have to study a few facts, since they seem to keep changing every day. But he doesn't have to study to be Presidential. He has lived it.

Happy birthday to Clara and welcome back to Feisty.

I'm going to pretend I don't know what song Joanne is parodying.

will be over to join you shortly. Mark, Domenico and all the FR crew.....thanks for keeping us to date on all the happenings in the political world.

I'm hearing there are now 8 counties in Fl with dubious voter registrations turned in by by election officials.

This Republican owned company the RNC hired to do voter registration all around the company and now have dismissed is crying foul and the owner claiming he's a victim!!! In 2004, he owned a similar company and had to close it down because of registration irregularities one being any Dem who registered were never turned in, just shredded.

The irony of this latest attempt at voter fraud is lost on many.

REGISTER AND VOTE, IF YOU DO NOT VOTE, YOU ARE FULFILLING SOMEONE ELSE'S AGENDA.

Just remember that Senator Kerry was judged to win all three debates in 2004, and it didn't really matter.

The first debate will have twice the viewership of the next two, unless the incumbent has a "Gerald Ford" moment...so the challenger must make his case then. If the challenger has a "Rick Perry" moment in the first debate, well...

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

To those of you who resort to the oh so grown up practice of using nicknames like

    "Odumbo" or "@!$%#t Robme"

Be advised that in addition to the fact that you sabotage any actual salient point you may have been attempting to make, that I can no longer read your comments after relegating you and your comments to the "Ignore" bin...

Thank you and enjoy the weekend...

I don't think the debates are going to matter as much as people think. Unless...

unless the incumbent has a "Gerald Ford" moment...

Most of us have already made up our minds.

Yes, it has been a great week for the country. WE found out again just what a loser, and jellyfish this so-called president really is. As for the attack in Libya, eveyone with a iphone knew that this was a terror attack while it was going on. Odumbo is still waiting for someone on his red soup-can, and string communication system. He still don't know it was a terrorist attack! Samual jackson has a Odumbo campaign video on line that might get the Odumbo lovers out of their coma. Watch it

I thought more Republicans would have turned on Romney this week given his anemic showing. Perhaps they're waiting for the first debate. But then, what if Romney does 'passably well'? Will Republicans wait until the second debate before turning on him?

So look for some Republican candidates to come out and say ahead of the debates that unless Romney can seriously damage the President, they're going to run on their own. Translation: drop dead Mitt.

The GOP/RNC "Romulian" does NOT remember what he says, and he denies that he said anything. The GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" has NO policies of his own on Foreign Policy because, "Chump-Change-Cheney" will be running his policies. Parry and thrust! It will be so interesting to see if Splitt-witt-Mitt Robme can deflect certain questions about what his Party stands for these days. As the pronounced leader of the Party; I would love to hear him weigh in on recent developments regarding the cheating the GOP is now engaged in. Of course he will swear he knew NOTHING but I won't buy into that! As head of the Party, he is responsible for EVERYTHING they do; that's what he said about Pres Obama, wasn't it? Now; let him answer for his Party; in full!

The GOP LIE eaters and denying dunces, keep decrying that Pres Obama is the one with NO RECORD TO RUN ON...WTF are they talking about? The POTUS has an excellent record because he alone is not responsible for the economy in total. We pay Congress just as we pay the elected president, whomever that person may be. No way Congress gets a pass and the POTUS doesn't! I ain't that stupid! It must be a joint effort and if Congress causes obstructions to keep the POTUS from being able to function; am I suppose to simply ignore what they did? I WILL NOT! They were suppose to help him over the past four years. They were suppose to give him ideas if they had any to offer. They were suppose to counsel him and agree on some issues; at least a few; at least those issues that THEY have always voted in favor of prior to this admn! John Boehner said out of his own mouth that he "got everything he wanted" when he and the President negotiated on certain issues. So then, the President obviously did try his best to work with the Resuckicans but when their turn came to do a little giving; they handed him stone! THAT was apparently their way of cooperation; to NOT cooperate one bit! I am pissed at those in Congress who hurt this nation's people for the sake of personal gain or racist attitudes if it be that!

This session of Congress, in particular, the right-leaning House, has held America hostage over the past four years and caused this country's credit rating to be harmed among other nations of the world and they did it for one simple reason; they wanted Pres Obama to appear incompetent and unable to fix the economy. Please; let Boehner, McConnell and Eric Cantor know that you are not as dumb as they hope you are!!!

            Obama/Biden 2012...DAMN STRAIGHT!

Here in Florida, when the RNC could not find much voter fraud (except in Miami-Dade, where it is an honored tradition) to justify their Voter ID/Supression laws, they went out and hired someone to do it.

Cheers to the Okaloosa County Elections Supervisor (a Republican) who called this outfit out, for registering dead people.

PS, In 2000, the Palm Beach County "Butterfly Ballot" was our Supervisor's attempt to get larger print to make it easier for the older people (like me) to read it. "Let no good deed go unpunished.", Ambrose Bierce.
