Obama: 'He could fall off the stage'

“President Obama has been forced to cancel several debate practice sessions with Senator John F. Kerry, whom he tapped to play stand-in for Republican challenger Mitt Romney, leaving little time for them to spar ahead of next week’s first presidential debate,” the Boston Globe writes. “The Massachusetts senator has held at least one mock debate with Obama to help him prepare for the first matchup against the former Massachusetts governor to be held Oct. 3 in Denver, but several others were cancelled due to the the president’s busy schedule, said deputy Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter.”

Buzzfeed: “Aides to President Barack Obama are sparing nothing — including their boss's balance — in an almost comical attempt to lower expectations for the president in next week's debate with Mitt Romney. On Air Force One today, traveling press secretary Jen Psaki was asked by reporters what the worst thing that could happen to him on Wednesday night. ‘Well, he could fall off the stage,’ she replied of the president.

"‘The president will have some time to prepare and he's been doing some studying, but it is certainly less than we have anticipated because of events in the Middle East, because of his busy travel schedule — because of just the constraints of governing,’ she added. ‘So it is less than we originally planned.’ Psaki lamented the president's ‘loquaciousness’ and argued that Romney is the most prepared debater in presidential debate history — on account of his preparation sessions going back to May.”

Bill Clinton will campaign for Obama in New Hampshire Wednesday, the same day as the first presidential debate.

Obama leads narrowly in North Carolina in a state that should demographically be tougher for him. But AP finds a robust grassroots organization on the ground for the president: “Dozens of volunteers armed with clipboards and voter registration forms gather at President Barack Obama’s field office here every day. Their mission: Fan out across the city seeking new voters in this rapidly growing state,” AP writes, adding, “The effort, it seems, has borne fruit — to the tune of more than 250,000 new registered voters in North Carolina since April 2011, according to Obama’s team. That’s more new voters than the campaign has registered anywhere else in the country. It’s an eye-popping total in a state that Obama won by just 14,000 votes four years ago.”

“Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.) joined President Barack Obama in Virginia Beach today and issued a stinging attack on Mitt Romney's failure to mention veterans during his presidential nomination acceptance speech, while also noting that Romney did not serve in the military,” Roll Call notes. Webb said, "They will not say this, so I will say it for them. They are owed, if nothing else, at least a mention, some word of thanks and respect, when a presidential candidate who is their generational peer makes a speech accepting his party's nomination to be commander in chief. And they are owed much more than that - a guarantee that we will never betray the commitment that we made to them and to their loved ones."

“Billionaire financier George Soros has given $1 million to the primary super PAC helping President Obama,” USA Today notes. “The funding is a boost to Priorities USA Action in the final weeks of the campaign.”

You run your mouth about President Obama lying. He never lied, it was your do-nothing GOP Congress that stopped him. Now Mis-fit Mitt is the father of lies. In fact he can't open his mouth without a lie coming out. But talking to you is like talking to Clint Eastwood's empty chair. It's a big waste of time and intelligence. I said it before and I'll say it again. Hatred breeds stupidity.

Never lied. How about the open bipartisan debate to aired on CSPAN on Obamacare? How about unemployment never getting above 5.9% because of the stimulus money? How about the most transparent government in history? How about starting a war in Libya and calling it an "altercation"? How about saying that the "penalty" for not getting insurance was changed for the Supreme Court to a "tax"? Man the list just goes on and on. Not that Presidents don't keep all of their promises but he keeps nothing other than support the gays and promote joblessness.

I'm an Independent...once a Republican, and even voted for a Democrat. That's the beauty of our country's govt. My concern now is...what are people thinking?.....4 years ago we were promised change, well we've gotten change, but was it the change the people wanted ? This country is so far in debt, that I doubt that my Grandchildren will ever see this country debt free. I resent my SS check called an entitlement, when I paid into it my entire working life. I resent my tax dollars paying for the President's family to travel first class, along with staff, relatives, and friends. I resent the fact that the President and the first lady don't know which hand to place over their heart or refuse to place their hand over their heart at all. There are many resentments but lastly, I resent Obama putting his big feet with shoes, on the furniture in the White House.

I totally agree. I'm 64 and a Democrat but the Democrats have changed into something my parents and grandparents would not even recognize. Sorry to admit I voted for Lyin' Bill Clinton...once. I vote independently, although I still have to vote in the Dem primary. That could change real soon. I had really hoped when Obama first came on the scene, maybe, just maybe here was someone who could do something....nope...quickly enough it was evident he was a "Hollow Man"...no substance, and he hasn't gained any in 4 years. Adios Amigo.

Amazing how this administration is ONE BIG EXCUSE AFTER ANOTHER. Nothing is ever their fault! He is working too hard to study. Which is supposed to be his everyday life of events. Good thing they didn't bring up national security, since he rarely goes to the meetings. Remember, a man must work on his priorities. I think his is his 10 handicap. Hope you get alot of time next year to work on your game!

NEWS FLASH!! Obama did fall off the stage!!!

Obama's schedule was too full to practice?...well sure, he was campaigning and fund raising. And, of course, the old adage applies..."if you're going to train a dog, first you have to be smarter than the dog". So much for John Kerry. Maybe he should have practiced with John Edwards.

          He was busy...

          Cleaning up a mess;

          >two unpaid wars,

          >the worst economic depression in 80 years,

          >a broken national health care system,

          >the battered international reputation of the United States,

          >and a horrific job market crash,

Now he has to put up with some sniffling little money bagger wearing mittens and flip flops for dancing shoes, speaking with a forked tongue.

Isn't it amazing how Republicans can write sentence after sentence fill pages with posts and yet say absolutely nothing? Notice how so many of them seem to have no use for punctuation, captalization, and have such vivid imaginations on different ways to insult and demean the office of POTUS, the leader of the free world? I try and imagine who these people could be. All I can see is an unshaven, unkempt, bib overalled person, shotgun in hand, sipping a milk jug of moonshine while standing ankle deep in a swamp.

I'm an independent. I have never seen one so lacking in the judgement skills and other attributes necessary to be President as is Romney. When it comes to lying, no other politician even comes close. He's like a snake oil salesman. He has every cure-all in the book, but like every other snake oil salesman, he will never divulge the ingredients. He doesn't care about anyone but Mitt. He's running for POTUS simply because its something to do. Normally, it wouldn't make a difference. But now that the Republicans have screwed up the world so badly, putting such a fool in power would be devistating.

Don't these fools understand that the only reason they still have a job is because Obama acted quickly and positively when he took office? Does anyone believe that unemployment would be under 20% had McCain been elected? What do these fools believe they are going to do when they retire and Social Security is no longer? What will they do when they get old and sick and Medicare is gone? I see a bunch of jerks who can't see past their elbows.

The experiment of Democracy has worked, so far, because there have been Democrats left to clean up the Repuglicans messes. Twice, in the course of History, Democracy has failed. The Repuglicans are doing their very best to insure its failure once again. If you know anything at all about Romney, his ideas and plans, of which he wants to keep secret, you, or at leqast no rational, reasonably intelligent thinking man, would vote for him. That's a fact. Unless, of course, you are rich, or hate blacks so much that you would risk the destruction of your beloved country, there is simply no way you would want him in power.

Look rational and logical should not come out of the mouth of a person who votes or would vote for Pres. Obama. This is far more true of a second vote cast for the man. He has accomplished nothing that will benefit "all" of america. He panders to the few at the cost of the many. The examples of this are many.

Romney exports jobs over seas? Our current administration exports not only jobs but tax dollars as well. China is delighted with providing us with the lions share of our green jobs tech. GM plans on opening 7 out of its next ten plants in China. Its sad. Sad that people defend this. Sad that the media refuses to do its job. But funny when you watch a President try and debate the facts. Well if you can call looking glum, distracted, and defeated, debating? Next three debates will be amusing as well. Media can only prop up incompetance for so long. They (the media) tried selling the fact that Carter had an insurmountable lead over Regan. They were surprised about the land slide election loses then. They will be stunned by this land slide as well. And they will be stunned by the rate of the recovery as well. Looking forward to the next "debate"

When you tell the truth and have the same plan for sometime, you don't have to practice. This is what I get from Romney: keep in place tax cuts for the wealthy, 1% increase in tax cuts for the wealthy, start a war with Syria, he didn't exactly explain why the wants to start a war, will sign a bill to okay the health plan that ryan has drawn up giving vouchers to the elderly and gradually cutting funding for education. Please explain to me how this is going to balance the budget and get americans back to work. I understand that the obama way has been a little slow for some of you, but How is the Romney way going to put America in a better position. The last two unnecessary wars and tax cuts for the wealth are how bush put us in this mess in the first place. Please help me to understand.

@rod Starr Your information in incorrect sir. It is not obama that exports jobs. He actually wants to impose sanctions on companies who do and tax credit for companies that remain in the US. Every country as to maintain some type of foreign trade policy and that is what he is doing while attempting to put America back into better position globally.

Because of the Middle-East and his busy schedule, or because Kerry's debate prep sucked the first time and no one expects a different result? Hey wait, that's exactly why we should vote Obama a second term.
