Subscribe to RSSLAS VEGAS, Nev. -- A plane carrying Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was forced to make an emergency landing in Denver Friday after smoke began to fill the plane midflight.
Campaign aides said the plane landed safely at Denver International Airport, and there were no reports of any injuries. An electrical fire was the suspected cause of the smoke.

Mrs. Romney was en route from Omaha, Neb., to Santa Monica, Calif., on a chartered Canadair Challenger 601 when the smoke forced an emergency landing. She spoke with Gov. Romney, who was campaigning in Las Vegas at the time, by phone shortly after landing.
An earlier version of this post referred to the plane Mrs. Romney was on as a regional jet. The Federal Aviation Administration advises it is not considered a regional jet.

I am glad she is O.K. That having been said, good grief! They cannot even charter a U.S. plane? Do these people really HATE the USA that much?

Although I consider myself a humanitarian and wish no ill will on anyone...my first thought after reading this post was it seemed perfect.-the man (Ann's husband) himself, shouts deception ten fold...that said, I can't imagine his wife would need anything less than plenty of smoke blown up her ass as well. With all due respect, the political podium to me is absolutely laughable, and I choose to rely on far more reliable sources to govern my own fate.

Lets hope the story is legit.....the Romney's could be looking for sympathy after insulting 47% of us.

First of all I hope all is ok. Second, I don't trust the so-called electrical fire story. Given her husbands freefalling polls numbers, his co-chair Tim Pawlenty jumping ship, the 47% freeloader comments, the Lybia comments, and his taking credit stating President Obama called him the grandfather of Obamacare and he'll take that to distract the media from his 47% video. In a desperate move as well he releases his 2011 taxes where he doesn't take his full deductions to make his tax rate look better but has three years to file an amendment to his returns netting him almost 3 million more. The final nail is the GOP candidates in blue & purple states cannot run fast enough to distance themselves from him and deny they support their own parties core values plus three candidates in 2016 Governor Jindal, Christie, and Walker have conviently left their states for political speeches so they won't have to appear with Mitt. So yes.....Given the the worst three weeks in any presidential candidates campaign and so close to the election, any distraction or story that takes the medias eye off of Romney will be tried. If the potential first lady was in danger it would of been breaking news and not filler between show breaks. We should all pray for Ann and her safety. No one should ever suggest she should get harmed or get joy out it as the republicans have done towards Obama and the First Lady. Why isn't the GOP closing ranks behind Mitt? He agreed to be their puppet and moved so far to the right even Rush sang his praises. They knew what they were getting in the first place. A flip-flopping shell who's core convictions and beliefs were caught on tape. They were not denied they were just not elegantly expressed. The teabagging far right ate it up and demanded he take ownership of it and he did. It is not person who has failed it is the ideology and when Mitt expressed it the country gasps and a resounding "Oh my I cannot believe he said this" went through 100% of the country. This is the tea party way. This is how the GOP feels and many are glad he said it and want to own it as long as they aren't up for re-election then they distance themselves and put on a show of faux outrage and contempt. We need to boot every one of the GOP tea bagging a**holes out of office from the states on up. The GOP refused and filibustered a Veterand Jobs bill and left town. As a veteran, the 47% and the refusal of republicans to support my fellow veterans cost them alot of support and we will see in the fall.

I just don't understand the vitriol from the left. Even if you support Obama and not Romney, can you not see that it would have been a tragedy for the family and friends of this woman had this plane crashed?
Picture it the other way around - how about it was Michelle Obama's plane and my comment was that the engine caught on fire because of the stress caused by having to heave Michelle's overweight keister into the air? Would that be OK with you?
