Subscribe to RSSLAS VEGAS, Nev. -- A plane carrying Ann Romney, wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was forced to make an emergency landing in Denver Friday after smoke began to fill the plane midflight.
Campaign aides said the plane landed safely at Denver International Airport, and there were no reports of any injuries. An electrical fire was the suspected cause of the smoke.

Mrs. Romney was en route from Omaha, Neb., to Santa Monica, Calif., on a chartered Canadair Challenger 601 when the smoke forced an emergency landing. She spoke with Gov. Romney, who was campaigning in Las Vegas at the time, by phone shortly after landing.
An earlier version of this post referred to the plane Mrs. Romney was on as a regional jet. The Federal Aviation Administration advises it is not considered a regional jet.

I hope the incident at least made Ann a little humble. That is a character trait that is sadly missing in both of the Romneys. Plenty of arrogance but lacking in humility. A great leader needs to be humble, like Barack Obama.

Smoke in the cabin is scary, especially if you are on a flight over the ocean where there is no place to land. My favorite singer, Stan Rogers died from smoke in the cabin a few years back. I wish he could "Rise again".

But seriously, folks- the only thing worse than fire in an aircraft is fire in a spacecraft- because there's no endless supply of oxygen around you, and the fire is consuming what you may need to get home. Having been in the air force, I've seen serious aircraft fires- but there are no ejection seats on passenger planes (Why the hell not, anyway? It's certainly doable.)

Kenny, having read some of your other posts, I now understand that you were trying to insult Joe- not me. I appreciate the sentiment, but I read it literally- and it looked as if you were saying my mom gratified Joe at very low cost indeed- and had he even suggested such a thing to her, it would have cost him two alright- but testicles- not dollars. She grew up on a ranch- and wasn't scared of bulls either- or what they left behind in the pasture...
