New outside group in this presidential cycle makes big push

In just the three days since First Read reported that ad spending had reached $605.7 million this presidential campaign, another $25 million has been booked.

And notably, there’s a new major player on the scene – Americans for Job Security, a shadowy group with no requirement to disclose its donors. It booked $8.7 million – in its first buy this presidential cycle – in six battleground states: FL, OH, VA, IA, CO, and NC.

Its dark-and-gloomy ad (from its website) depicts a baby in a crib looking up at a cracked ceiling as an announcer asks: “What are his hopes, his future? Under the path we were on, it’s darker, weaker, less secure. All because our president has no plan to balance the budget ever. Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling by trillions, so he can pay for his reckless spending. Sign the petition, saying no to a debt-ceiling increase, because at some point, the ceiling will break.”

Americans for Job Security is classified as a 501(c)(6) “business league,” according to its website. “Under the law, this type of organization is designed to promote the ‘common business interests’ of its members,” it says.

The Alexandria, Va.-based group purports to be an “independent, bi-partisan, pro-business issue advocacy organization,” but it’s run by the former head of the New Hampshire Republican Party, and it ran ads supporting Scott Brown (R-MA) and against Bill Halter (D) in Arkansas in 2010. It has also played in GOP Senate primaries, running ads against Pete Hoekstra (R) in the Michigan governor’s race, against Jane Norton (R) for Colorado Senate, and Rep. Gresham Barrett (R) in the South Carolina governor’s race.

FactCheck.org points out that it “does not disclose its donors. It says only that its members are ‘businesses, business leaders and entrepreneurs.’”

It also notes the group's run-in with the Federal Election Commission in 2008:

“In 2008, staff lawyers for the Federal Election Commission saw ‘reason to believe’ that AJS had violated federal election law by, among other things, failing to register as a political committee and failing to disclose its donors. But in 2009 the three Republican commissioners on the FEC blocked any action, voting to dismiss the case while the three Democratic commissioners voted to pursue it. Since a majority is required for the FEC to act, the partisan 3-3 deadlock killed any enforcement action against AJS. When the Supreme Court later struck down longstanding federal laws against campaign spending by corporations and labor unions, AJS President DeMaura told the Wall Street Journal the decision was an ‘unequivocal victory’ for those ‘who believe in free speech and the rights of organizations such as ours to promote our point of view.’

“Since its inception AJS says it has raised nearly $60 million and run more than 90 different TV spots in 46 states and the District of Columbia. [Stephen] DeMaura [its president] told FactCheck.org that as of mid-August [2010], the group had spent $6.3 million in the 2010 election cycle, but he would not say what the group expected to spend during the remainder of the election campaign.”

In all this election, more than $630 million has been spent on TV and radio ads by the presidential campaigns and outside groups.

Team Romney (groups supporting Republican Mitt Romney, including Super PACs, the campaigns and other groups) has outspent Team Obama $338 million to $292 million.

Under RomneyRyan,

No more coverage for pre-existing conditions, no more rebates from insurance companies that spend more than 20% of your money and do not give you the full 80%, no more ending the donut hole for seniors, mammograms, cancer screening and check-ups at no charge, no more kids on their parents' plans, etc, etc.

And 30 million people will NOT get healthcare in 2014, for the first time in their lives - because they are worth human beings. All of us our worthy, even without a penny in our pockets.

RomneyRyan will "Kill" the ACA right away, they say.

They will voucherize Medicare. And without the ACA, Medicare ends in 2016.

Followed by the death of Medicaid.

And RomneyRyan would socialize Social Security - the dream of the GOP.

I'd say "dark and gloomy" is the GOP plan, without any doubt.

This sounds a lot like a Norquist group. He's funded by countries like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel who believe they can buy the White House.

This man has to be investigated for having our politicians sign an oath to him. Who the hell is he to get anyone to sign an oath to him?

I think these kinds of ads turn people off to Romney. They know they are based on lies and people wonder why someone has to lie so much in order to win.

Your right, Obama never lied about anything.

And there really lies the problem, doesn't it? (every pun intended!) Instead of the out-and-out battle, maybe both candidates should welcome the discussion? Maybe, instead of Romney's view, where disclosing details about any "plan" he might have merely exposes weak points that the opposition can exploit or Obama's view, where he paints every Romney point as another attack on the middle class, maybe we could have an actual dialog?

Face it, people, no matter who wins, the country is still at stake! Does either opponent still believe in America? Or will we all go back to the same bickering that has stalled Congress for the last 2 years? No matter who wins, both Democrats and Republicans will still have to work together!

Have we missed the lessons of the last 2 years? Even the minority, be they Democrat or Republican, can stall any progress. No matter who occupies the White House, they still have to contend with Congress!

If Romney wins, will the bitterness of Democrats prevent any compromise? Exactly like the bitter Republicans have done for the last 2 years, propagating exactly the same circumstances they have railed against Republicans for? If Obama wins, but Republicans gain a majority in the Senate, will their self-righteous indulgence in victory bring on another reduction in credit rating for the country? Let us not forget the profligate spending of the last Republican president - exactly what Republicans rail against on Obama right now! And no matter how badly Republicans paint Obama and his spending, things are better than they were 4 years ago!

How about a little sanity in government, no matter who wins?

And that is exactly why you, Da Noid, and everyone else should have gotten involved in the Popular Amendment Movement back in August 2010 when I helped to develop the two constitutional amendments at www.faircampaignreform.us (amendments based on comments posted here on Newsvine during that election cycle.) I have been asking all of you to get involved for two years now. If you had gotten involved back then, and gotten all of your friends (no matter which side of the political fence they sit on) involved, we might have gotten enough states to require their Secretary of State to call for a Constitutional Convention to get these amendments passed. Let's hope that you can accomplish that before the 2014/16 election cycles. This is NOT a party issue, it is a voter's rights issue...We The People taking back the power of our elections. By the way campaign donations are set up under the ECFR amendment, the amount of money any one candidate can spend on his/her election will be determined ONLY by the amount of money raised from private individuals and up to 60% matching funds from his/her own pocket. Individuals will be restricted to $200 per candidate per election season and family members living in the same household will be restricted to $500. NO CORPORATE, UNION, NON-PROFIT, PAC, SuperPAC, OR ANY OTHER SOURCE OF CAMPAIGN DONATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED AND NO THIRD PARTY (THIS LIST OF SOURCES) ADVERTISING WILL BE ALLOWED EITHER. (Sections 4, 5, & 6)

In this electronic age, there is no reason for any candidate to spend the amount of money that is being spent on this election for ANY elected office. Just think how nice it would be to NOT be bombarded by any political ads for two years or more as we have seen this cycle. Note Sections 2 & 3 regarding this.

Petition for US Constitutional Amendment For Election Reform

We, the undersigned US citizens, duly registered voters in our respective states/territories, do hereby petition for our state to approve the following amendment to the United States Constitution by the method noted below.

Election Reform:
1. Abolish the Electoral College (Repeal Amendment 12)
2. ONE NATIONAL primary date to be held on the Tuesday eight (8) weeks prior to the General Election day for Congressional offices and for the President. Candidate petitions must be filed with the local/state elections boards 60 days prior to the Primary Election date. Federal election petitions shall be uniform in every state and shall include a “contract with the voters” that spells out clearly what that candidate stands for on all issues that they may have to address in elected office. They shall be held accountable in court for breach of that contract if elected and any/all terms are not met.
3. NO campaigning allowed for any elective federal office more than 60 days prior to the National Primary Date.
4. NO campaign contribution shall be donated to any candidate of more than $200 from an individual or $500 maximum from a family (spouses/children living in the same household.) No donations shall be made to a candidate more than sixty days prior to the primary date. No candidate shall contribute from their own funds more than 60% of the total donations from other private individuals.
5. NO campaign contribution from any PAC, corporation, union, non-profit organization, special interest group, etc. shall be allowed for any elected federal office.
6. NO third party campaigning (separate PAC ads, corporate ads, etc.) for/against any candidate shall be allowed at any time during or before the election season.
7. NO party conventions shall be held to select the presidential candidates. The selection must be done at the ballot box in the primary election.
8. The One Man/One Vote Supreme Court ruling shall be enforced by this Amendment, namely that NO federal candidate selection shall be by any means other than the ballot box on Primary/General Election Dates.
9. National Party Organizations shall NOT raise money for or donate to specific candidates of their party prior to the dates outlined above.
10. PAC’s shall NOT be granted tax-exempt status by the IRS, and any non-profit organization who uses their funding for political purposes shall lose their tax-exempt status.
11. All lobbyists shall be outlawed from influencing Congress at all times.

This amendment shall be approved ONLY by State Constitutional Conventions to be called within 90 days of this petition being submmitted to a state’s Secretary of State. A minimum of 25% of the registered voters in each state shall be required to further this petition to the respective Secretary of State.

Yea, anti-trust proponent, uuhhh, most of that violates the First Amendment right to free speech and free

association.

Term limits are in place, they're called elections.

Twenty five percent? Really, a minority to dictate for the majority? If an idea has any relative merit, one

should be able to convince at least 50% of the voters.

Just make elections compulsory as they are in Australia. Fine voters for non-participation and place

money in the F.E.C. election fund.

Now you don't need a constitutional convention.

You're welcome.

Okay, all you GOP supporters. Not one of you has been willing to answer this so far.

Why are the House Republicans spending their time giving away American jobs instead of fixing the economy?

This is one of only 61 bills they've passed this year:

The United States House of Representatives passed a bill — House Resolution 3012 — which favors highly skilled workers by removing country-specific caps on immigrant engineers, computer scientists and other professionals.

House representatives voted 389 to 15 in favor of HR 3012 or the "Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act." The bill is also expected to pass in the Senate.

By eliminating the cap from each country on high-skilled working visa, talented immigrants from India, Philippines, China and other emerging economies can work in the US, the report said.

117,460 American jobs were given to foreigners on these H1B visas in 2010.

Can you tell me why, with our unemployment rate so high, Americans weren't hired instead? Or why the GOP wants to give MORE jobs away?

So do 1.45 million Americans.

NY Times:
Four years later, there are 1.45 million people who are working as a direct result of the $80 billion bailout, according to the nonpartisan Center for Automotive Research, both at the carmakers and associated businesses downstream in the economy. Michigan’s unemployment level is at its lowest level in three years. G.M. is again the world’s biggest automaker, and both companies are reporting substantial profits.

Now answer the question.

Citizens United endangers our democracy and our country - It is not "of the people, by the people, for the people". It enables special interests and money to buy our elections, not unlike systems in other countries that we have labeled "corrupt, and that USAID has invested heavily to help educate on democratic principles and good governance.

What is also a danger to our democracy is not only the extreme partisanship that has developed, but the venom and disrespect of the electoral process, and the offices, and namely The Office of the President, as well as the individual elected to that office.

Imagine what a difference it would have made if McCain/Feingold had been upheld, and if all the money now being spent by the PACs, Super Pacs, 501 C 4's, etc., had instead been contributed by their donors, to reducing the deficit and paying down the debt, rather than stoking the fires of venomous partisanship and disrespect of our democratic processes and principles - "What a wonderful world it would be"!

Once we get to a point where this sentence is rendered completely irrelevant, our Constitution will have been restored. It is a direct quid quo pro... the fact that the person spending the most money tends to get elected means that money buys an election. I think we have become so accustomed to it that we don't see the significance.

If a million people can see a cat playing the piano for free, I don't think its necessary to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get elected.

Businesses need highly educated people to continue to build products. They have asked our government to make it easier to hire foreign workers who excell in their fields. GM currently stands about 25, down about 10 from a 5-year high of about 35. That's hardly a PLUNGES.

Beyond that, we have 1.45 million now employed, and paying taxes. These taxes paid have already exceeded the cost of the bailout - these people would otherwise have been a burden through unemployment. Add this all up and the taxpayers have already made their money back.

The bailout is already a monetary success for the American taxpayer, and all these people gainfully employed will continue to pay into the economy, saving taxpayers good money far into the future.

I understand that these facts really annoy some people, but for better or worse, these are facts.

You are trying to live by the Republican mythos that Democrats are all Communists who believe in all anti-competitive practices. Nothing is farther from the truth. Given that the GM bailout saved a lot of AMERICAN jobs, and most of GM's money is spent in the US, I don't see a problem.

You really like sending billions of dollars to the muslim brotherhood and al-qaeda??

True someone created over 4 million jobs. I doubt Obama can take credit for much more then creating jobs at the welfare office to help all the people Obama has put on welfare.
It takes 150,000+ jobs per month just to cover the "new" people entering the job market.
That comes to 6.5 million jobs since Obama took the wheel.
He's a couple million shy of a six pack.
Why don't you talk about who Obama sends money to in the middle east??
Here's a few fun facts. Something liberals hate.
Obama helped overthrow the governments of Egypt and Libya.
Egypt and Libya are now controlled by the muslim brotherhood and al-qaeda.
Obama has since sent them 2.5 billion dollars of your money.
Beginning in October Obama will send another 2 billion of your money to the muslim brotherhood and al-qaeda.
The "rebels" in Syria is al-qaeda.
Obama has sent them $150 million dollars of your money.
Al-qaeda is the muslim brotherhoods army.
Why is Obama sending your money to terrorists?
Everything else is just smoke and mirrors, keeping your eyes off what is really going on.
        Afghanistan KIA
Americans killed in action under George Bush 2001 - 2008 970
Americans killed in action under Barack Obama 2009 to present 1,450
Injured under Bush 2k, under obama... 17k.
Over 18 million more Americans on food stamps since Obama took office.
It takes 150,000 new jobs per month just to cover new people entering the work force.
Thats 6.5 million new jobs needed since Feb. 2009.Obama has created 4.3 million jobs.
In January 2013 the new Obamacare taxes will begin.
It will add an average $1,700 dollars in new taxes on the middle class.
        That is just the beginning.
February 2009 average gas price $1.89 per gallon
September 2012 average price of gas $3.88

Ahhh, BS! The CBO disagrees with you!

It takes 150,000+ jobs per month just to cover the "new" people entering the job market.

Yes, it does! Have you looked at the record? How many months did George W. Bush create more than 150,000 jobs during his 8 years? Less than 10%. The BLS has the data, download and check it! Then realize that the plan Romney espouses is the same as Bush's.

Why don't you talk about who Obama sends money to in the middle east??

Yeah, yeah, and how many more $billions did Bush send to Pakistan after 9/11? You know, our partner in the war on terror who harbored bin Laden for 6 years less than 1 mile from their most prestigious military academy.

Obama helped overthrow the governments of Egypt and Libya. Egypt and Libya are now controlled by the muslim brotherhood and al-qaeda.

No, he did not. He allowed the civil war to continue to its logical conclusion. The people chose their own leaders. You don't agree with them, fine! But it is their choice!

Obama has since sent them 2.5 billion dollars of your money.

That $2.5B was sent to them in years before the revolution. Why are you quibbling now? It was OK before with a dictator BUT we stop now that the people have deposed him? What a hypocrite!

Beginning in October Obama will send another 2 billion of your money to the muslim brotherhood and al-qaeda.

        Source, please?

The "rebels" in Syria is al-qaeda.

For some reason, the statements you lift out of context over a period of years in your mind are somehow connected together in a cause and effect relationship when, in fact, they are nothing more than isolated statements lifted out of context over a period of years that have little relationship to one another. You appear the fool when you do such things. People who have studied logic even at the most elementary level look at what you write and laugh. Let these idiots spend as much as they want, it no longer matters. The number of voters who have yet to be persuaded are nearly at zero, most people, for what ever reason they hold dear to their hearts, they have already made up their minds. I am beyond any carpet bombing campaign, especially when the lies are so outrageous that most people with even a half brain know they are completely false and misleading.

In the mean time, people are shutting their minds to this type of attack and will wait for the Presidential Debate to see what promises to be a real show. I have no doubt as to who will win...when it comes to substance versus rhetoric, we shall all be in for a real pony show.

Romney should do the right thing and spare the people a lot of grief and save himself from humiliation...just resign from the campaign Mitt, you know you are going to lose...just like so many senators are as well. Your own party can not run away from you fast enough, they are suffering because of your incompetence.

Go back to something you are good at...like outsourcing American jobs to your foreign business partners (how much are they depositing directly into your Swiss account Mitt?, inquiring minds want to know).

For what Obama has done I'd say he probably has one hell of a lot more money hidden in secret accounts. He has funneled billions to terrorists and George Soros just to mention a few. What Obama has done is nothing less then criminal but you go on living your life with blinders on. Obama will eventually give you what you deserve.

Americans for job security backing Mr. outsource, that's funny. Oh, I forgot, Willard is going to create 12 million jobs in 4 years. Why the hell couldn't he do that for us in Mass. when he was gov. His answer to us when asked about it back then was: It takes a long time to create jobs ,and I was only elected for four years. That's not what he is saying about Obama. He even made it possible to outsource Mass. jobs. to India. Remember the outrage lately from both Democrates and Republicans about outsource of olympic uniforms to China. Did you notice there was no comment from Romney. Why? Because when he ran the olympics in 2002 he out sourced the olympic uniforms to Burma!!

There already exists Chinese and Indian firms in the U.S. to hire temp H1B workers to replace skilled Americans, and more outsourcing to these in-country firms is on the planning board. Romney can talk economy all he wants, everybody knows that he made his money the dirty way and helped pave the way for THIS economy. Between that and the Public KNOWING that the Repubs in Congress have filibustered or voted down EVERY jobs bill for the last 3.5 years, aside from their own that they CALL jobs bills but have nothing for creating jobs, just deregulation and defunding of regulatory agencies, they are not too willing to listen to the Repubs on that, either.

Not only has Willard continually shot himself in the foot with his statements, in that latest clip he pretty well kneecapped himself. He has no one to blame for any of it other than himself when he loses by a larger landslide than McCain did!

                  #10.6 - Fri Sep 21, 2012 2:42 PM EDT

Diamond, what Romney said, is Quote:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. And I mean, the president starts off with 48, 49, 48—he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect. And he'll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean that's what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people—I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

So, YES, Romney CLEARLY writes off that 47%, and the funniest thing is, a great number of those happen to vote Repub. Don't believe me, look at what States receive the most in Federal Aid, they are the so called Red States, and Romney is CLEARLY writing off those who pay no income taxes, even though they may be the working poor who make so little that they have no tax debt, those on Social Security and Veterans, many of them disabled, students and those that have been thrown out of work by those corporations that are sitting on $trillions and yet not hiring, working their labor part time at minimum wage with no benefits...while the Management class and owners take home millions.

And since when has President Obama talked about giving the rich tax breaks, quite the opposite there!

The President is supposed to be there for 100% of the Nation, like President Obama is and has been doing, not to work for JUST the ones that pay income tax like Romney has plainly stated!

You need to work on your reading comprehension some, I think!

That is the real problem with unlimited spending. You get all sorts of ads with minimal guidance as to who paid for the ads, so that we can try to judge the quality of information in the ads. And as you pointed out, it would be ridiculously easy for a foreign contributor to try to influence the campaign this way. Would you want the government of China, Pakistan or Russia to be influencing the election? As the laws are currently constituted, there is no real way to prevent it.

IMO, it's also very cowardly to be purchasing ad time to influence the election without even having the courage to put your name behind the message. Some say that this would be a chilling effect upon businesses who don't want boycotts due to their message. I say--GOOD!!! If you don't want to run that risk--then stay out of politics--or at least find some other way to influence government. The people have the right to know who is paying for these campaigns.

Do you even understand what the "Debt Ceiling" is? Are you going to be HONEST and denigrate all of the previous presidents and congresses WHO VOTED TO RAISE THE DEBT CEILING LIMIT prior to Obama taking office? (GWB's presidency saw 17 raises in 8 years, better than 2 raises per year.)

The Debt Ceiling is not tied to FUTURE SPENDING, it accounts for PREVIOUS SPENDING that CONGRESS appropriated, not any President.

Static is a good descriptor of your post and your comprehension of the term Debt Ceiling.

Are you aware that Obama offered a deal that would have cut 4 billion dollars out of the budget deficit in exchange for raising the debt ceiling? Probably not because Republicans turned it down because it included a mix of spending cuts and tax increases to do so.

If Romney was Obama, he would turn white.

The New York Times just exposed a disgusting Republican voter-suppression organization that is masquerading as an "anti voter fraud" outfit.

Their unbelievable tactics include falsely reporting low-income and minority voters as fraudulent, then forcing them to attend court hearings or provide paperwork just to win back their voting rights.

Republicans find democracy and the Constitution a nuisance. The Party is the thing. Germany, Italy, and Russia revisited.

                    Aunt Anna -

If your ticked off about having to buy insurance then be afraid of going to an ER on Friday nights. You will get your answer. Last time I checked we had a whole bunch of families rolling through there at 400 bucks an hour without health care, or even a concern about who would pay. Were not talking free clinic here or county hospital, we are talking premium care for colds at a premium rate. Taking a stab at getting that under control for the rest of the paying public may not be popular, but I'm glad someone had the balls to do it. Politically valuable to their political career or not.

Secondly, the whole Tea Party movement is so out of touch with reality that they don't understand that it takes a little more moderate candidate to win the White House, no matter how conservative he is at heart. "Notice the headlines about Mitt coming back as a moderate? There is a reason for that. Beyond that, being a hater just shows ignorance. So unless you willing to hang a chair in your front yard then do us a favor and relax.....the hard part is almost over.

"we are talking premium care for colds at a premium rate.."

Okay, you got me going. For those that don't want to read a long story, just skip this now.

I have been to E.R. twice. The first time was for an injury I got driving to work. At that time, I had an office job, with awesome benefits. I was driving to work and I noticed that the door of my truck was not fully shut. I opened and shut it while driving, accidentally smashing my thumb in the door. I was on a busy highway, and I had to drive about a half mile with my thumb in the door before I could safely pull over and get it out. When I got to the office, the secretary (the real brains of the business) noticed me taking paper clips and scotch tape, along with some paper towels, which I was using to make a splint for my thumb. She saw all the blood and demanded that I remove the paper towels and show her my thumb. She almost got sick when she saw it, and she called the boss, and basically ordered me to go to the hospital. So, I went, and all they did was remove the thumbnail (it would have fallen off anyway) and give me a fancy $500 splint (which really was not any better than the one I was making out of paper clips). I thought eveerything would be okay because I had this incredible health insurance package. About three months later, I got a letter from the insurance company telling me that they would not be covering the hospital expenses because the accident happened while I was driving my vehicle, and as such, had to be covered by my auto insurance! Needless to say, my auto insurance company was not willing to foot the bill.

The second time I went to E.R. I was working in a construction job. It was early in the morning, maybe about 9 a.m., when I became aware that my left arm was not working correctly. I just couldn't hold anything steady with it, and I was dropping tools (a dangerous thing to do when working around high voltage power lines). I woke up that morning with the feeling that my arm was asleep, but I didn't really think that much about it at first. Finally, about 10 a.m., I had to tell my boss. I figured I must have had a stroke or something overnight. I remember the thing the bosses were most interested in establishing was that I said I had woke up that way (and so it was not something that happened at work). They told me to go home. Yes, they believed, as I did, that I had had a stroke, and they told me to DRIVE home.

I decided to go to the E.R. instead. I signed in, described the symptoms, and since I didn't yet have insurance, I had to wait. I waited there for over two hours. During that time, there was a mother with three children, one of which obviously had a cold (snot dripping from his nose). Cute kids, but this mother was a real bit*h. She was pulling the race card, and demanding attention, and obviously was well acquainted with the the emergency room as the method of primary care for her children. They examined the cute little black child with a cold before me -- the white man with a possible stroke.

I got up to leave (I figured I'd just go home to die if need be) and then they noticed me, and said I shouldn't leave, and convinced me to stay to get checked out. Eventually they called me. They did all sorts of tests. Thousands of dollars. Shifts changed and there was a new doctor. In about two minutes, without any expensive tests, he was able to determine that I was suffering from a not too uncommon nerve injury caused by SLEEPING ON MY ARM! All I needed was a sling and a wrist brace for a couple months (and a special pillow to keep me from sleeping on my arm) and everything was back to normal. I wonder if all those tests were really necessary or if they were trying to rack up the bill. I still owe money on that. It still seems strange that with all the dangerous work that I do, the only injury I have gotten is from sleeping wrong!

The only thing I distrust more than doctors is our current health care system. It needs changing.

                    Obama-Biden 2012!

If we had spent more money, as many economists have suggested, to recover and create more jobs, we may not have seen such a horrible recession. Debt can easily be repaid when you have an economy which is thriving with close to full employment.

                    Wow. Talk about delusional.

Even if you accept the Carter/Obama comparison, there is no way that Romney is anywhere near Reagan. Unlike Romney, Reagan had a set of core beliefs, and the charisma to bring America to many of those beliefs. Romney has absolutely nothing in his political center, other than to say whatever it takes to get elected. And he almost never comes across as sincere. At lease with Reagan you knew where you stood with him, and you knew he believed what he was saying? What in God's green earth does Romney believe in?

To the Supporters of Romney/Ryan: If you are NOT well-born or well-educated, then why on earth do you support the Romney/Ryan ticket??!!?? The GOP has been taken over by far, right wing, extremist, fanatics who want to hurt you! The article under review is another example of those shadowy groups that seem to emerge from the dark, cesspool of American society that make every attempt to frighten their audience into voting for their candidates. But, back to Romney.

Romney has told so many different groups what they want to hear that the entire mess is coming back to haunt him. Now, in a behind the doors conversation with wealthy far, right wing, extremist, fanatics he has told them that he thinks 47% of the working classes and underclasses are living off the government and they're not going to vote for him anyway. So, he says, I've written them off. Why would he tell them that? Well, they and his running mate, Paul Ryan, are "minarchists" who want very small government. What does that mean? The definition of a "minarchist" is defined in Wikpaedia as the following:

"In the strictest sense, it maintains that the state is necessary and that its only legitimate function is the protection of individuals from aggression, theft, breach of contract, and fraud, and the only legitimate governmental institutions are the military, police, and courts. In the broadest sense, it also includes fire departments, prisons, the executive, and legislatures as legitimate government functions."

Do you see anything about Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans benefits, farm subsidies to protect family farms, small business protection from giant corporations, or government regulations to prevent to protect you and your family from contaminated food, con artists selling you contaminated medicines, etc. etc.? None of that is there! Why do you think Paul Ryan wants to privatize Social Security and end Obamacare? He's working out of that theoretical model to implement his ideas.

Minarchists believe a free market system, even though it has natural cycles of high prosperity and extreme economic depressions, should be left to regulate itself according to the Darwinist argument, "the strongest in nature will survive and the weak will die out." John D. Rockefeller, owner of Standard Oil Company, said it best. He said: "The natural end of capitalism is monopoly." Think about it. Today, Wal-mart should be left alone in the free market system to control its prices and wages to compete with small businesses in your town. Don't listen to me, though, listen to what Paul Ryan and his ilk are telling you. It's easy to be elected to the Presidency or to Congress. The problem comes for all of us, if these people control the White House and Congress, when they implement the above "new world."

                    • constantly blamed his predecessor even after saying it was his watch now,
                    • told companies to "step up" then saying "the private sector is doing just fine" - while increasing the number of families on food stamps,
                    • promised to reduce the deficit but can't get Harry Reid to hold a vote to pass a budget for 3 years now,
                    • told foreign leaders he is too busy to meet, then goes on late night talk shows.

Thank you U.S. Supreme Court (now the arm of Corporate America) for yet another example of the emerging plutocracy as a result of their Citizens United decision. "Corporations are people my friend" (Mitt Romney) - and we see on a daily basis where this is going. Unlimited, shadowy money flowing from wealthy people and corporations trying to buy access, elimination of regulations governing whatever business they're in and favorable tax treatment - at the expense of the nation. The poor and those of limited means will be scapegoated (the "47%) but it is corporations and the very wealthy who are behind these political action infomercials. Like Sheldon Adelson and his ilk - they want something in return (huge tax breaks) for their investment. Otherwise, they wouldn't be investing because they really don't care about anything other than making more money for themselves.

Is there any truth to the comments mentioned in this ad about debt limits? This Obama speech explains the perils of continued debt limit raises in an every day language anyone can comprehend.

Notice how he uses the word "debt" and explains its impact on our country and economy.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies.

And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America's priorities. Instead,
interest payments are a significant tax on all Americans–a debt tax that Washington doesn't want to talk
about. If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we would see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies.

Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that "the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit.

Sen. Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., (Senate – March 16, 2006)

                          Obama is SO right.

Now everyone needs to vote a straight democratic ticket this November before it gets ugly. If we keep the GoP in Congress our debt will sky rocket even worse. Lord help us all (well 99% of us) if Romney/Ryan got elected.

                          Oh and read this too..

Rolling Stones magazine "How the GoP Became the Party of the Rich"

It will solidify why you should vote for democrats only.

DUH! I hate to tell you, because it will destroy your Democratic fantasy world, but Obama raised the debt limits 3 times to add $5.9 trillion to the national debt in 3.75 years.

He added $1.8 trillion to the national debt in a year's time, August, 2011 through August, 2012 which has force him to request his 4th debt limit raise to prevent his government from being shut down.

Comapred to Bush's adding $5.1 trillion to the national debt in 8 years, your comments about GOP are out of touch with reality.

The greatest thing about Willard tanking in the polls is he is dragging the rest of the republican candidates down with him. According to Nate Silver the republicans now have a 21% chance of retaking the Senate down from 50% earlier this year.
