SARASOTA, FL—Mitt Romney seized on remarks delivered by President Obama today, attempting to seize the role of “change” candidate after the president seemed to suggest in a televised forum that he could not change Washington from the inside.
"We face a Washington that’s broken, that can’t get the job done. The president today threw in the white flag of surrender again. He said he can’t change Washington from inside. He can only change it from outside,” Romney said. “Well, we’re going to give him that chance in November. He’s going outside!”
Romney was referring to an answer President Barack Obama gave to Spanish-language broadcaster Univision at a forum in Miami just a few hours before Romney took the stage. At the forum, which Romney attended last night, the president was asked to name his biggest failure.
The president told the forum’s moderator that he felt his biggest failure was in not passing comprehensive immigration reform, then pivoted to lessons-learned.
“The most important lesson I've learned is that you can't change Washington from the inside. You can only change it from the outside,” bama said. “That's how I got elected, and that's how the big accomplishments, like health care, got done, was because we mobilized the American people to speak out.”
Romney campaign aides, on the defensive for much of the last week over Romney’s surreptitiously-recorded comments in a May fundraiser, began blasting out the comments on social media, while other aides brought them to Romney’s attention on the nine-minute drive from his lunchtime fundraiser to the afternoon rally.
Taking the podium under sweltering conditions, Romney attacked.
“This is time for a new president. He went from the president of change to the president who can’t get change,” Romney said. “I heard it from the reports that came out and they said the president of the United States says he can’t change Washington from the inside. Isn’t that amazing?”
“No wonder he’s had such a hard time over the last four years his first two years he had a Democratic house, Democratic senate, he got to do whatever the heck he wanted to but he says he can’t change it from the inside,” Romney continued. “Well I will. I’ll get the job done, we’ll change Washington we’ll restore the economic strength."
Republicans quickly flagged Obama's line as indicative of Obama's failure to deliver on high expectations he created as a candidate in 2008. The GOP argued that Obama's comment amounted to a concession that business persists as usual in Washington.
Noting that Obama regularly refers to change in Washington as slow-moving and a goal that must be sought for from outside the capital. "Change is hard" has become a refrain for Obama in his campaign stops, his plea to supporters from 2008 whose enthusiasm has waned.
The Obama campaign quickly labeled Romney’s comments as “wildly out of context,” and called the attack built on them an act of desperation.
Nevertheless, the Romney campaign, sensing an opening, made the concept of Romney-as-change-candidate the centerpiece of today’s rally here in a county John McCain won by only a few hundred votes four years ago, but where Republicans see an opportunity to run up large margins this November.
“Now I know that the people of America have a choice. They can choose thecurrent incumbent. He represents the status quo. If we reelect Barack Obama you know exactly what we're going to see,” Romney said, adding that a vote for the GOP ticket this fall would be a vote for “real change.”

GOP...Desperados, Mr. Romney clings to the President's every word. If he wasn't talking negatively about President Obama and the 47% what would his campaign be about. Every time he's asked a question his answer either begans with President Obama or ends with President Obama. The GOP should be ashamed of this candidate.
As an independent conservative, I am very ashamed of this guy. He can't finish a line with out bashing obama. I don't think he has or knows an independent thought. When asked on topics its vacuum. As far as his work at bain capital, I am starting to wonder if he was truly the brains behind the operation or just a gopher with family money that got lucky by buying into shares. AKA the painter who took stock instead of payment for facebook shares and now is a multi millionaire. Someone has to get lucky once in awhile. I am as fiscally conservative as they come, hell on imigration if romney had any conservatism he would have stated that he would ship 5 million fence jumpers back to where they came from and pass a law that if your parents are not citizens, you don't get to stay because I care about america and what to give americans jobs who have earned it and not stolen from you. Now, that would more my style. Not the drivel that is coming out his pie hole.

Corruption, lies, cheating, secrecy, taking out from government computers (Mass), hiding things that should be public (tax returns), pay back to his Million Dollar donors....

Change candidate? Change into what? America in 1890? The ONLY way Americans are going to be able to "change" Washington is to demand a change in how politics is paid for. Allowing obscenely wealthy corporations to pour unlimited amounts of money into campaigns and lobbying efforts is turning our country into an oligarchy. That tsunami of money can never be matched by the average voter. All that undue influence allows corporations and the wealthy to basically own Washington. The only change Romney and the Teapublicans will allow is backwards to a society that expects women to stay at home and have kids. They will pay for Viagra but not birth control. They want to tax the middle class into serfdom. They want the lower income folks to die of hunger and disease with no assistance. No Thank You!!!!! Any dufus can spend 8% more every year compounded and look great except obama and it seems this guy (2.6 trillion in federal outlays in 2007 is now 3.6 in 2011). When you get a guy that can articulate how to run a government than maybe that is someone to look at. People never knew that ronald reagan spent hours each day going over bills and building consensus. Dems may have not liked reagan and repubs clintion but both these guys worked hard and knew their stuff. Neither of these guys has much to offer.

In less than 24 hours, Romney, the Great Flip-flopper, has shifted from ultra-conservative to moderate to agent of change. Now he wants us to believe he is a change agent. What a joke! He is an agent alright. He got that right. But he hasn't changed from his long standing as the agent of the wealthy, and now wants to continue to redistribute more monies to the rich while letting the middle class shrink. It's another sign this guy has no principles and is an agent of the 1% or .o1%.

The only thing Romney cares about is winning, so that he can make sure that his Mormon church's "White Horse Prophecy" comes true, and he will then be the great hero of his church throughout eternity. He has never been this close before, nor his Mormon Father before him, and it now that it seems within his grasp he will do and say anything to win. And I would not believe him if he swore on a stack of King James Bibles.

Church Statement on "White Horse Prophecy" and Political Neutrality

Two weeks ago The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a statement regarding the so-called "White Horse prophecy" in response to news inquires regarding comments made by an Idaho politician. The matter has received additional coverage in the news media of late and so we reiterate that statement here:
Why don't you get a grip and talk to some of the real Mormons. The church has been denying it for years because there was too much fear of it. But, it is indeed something the take very seriously.
BTW, while shouting at me, dear Know-it-all, my maternal grandparents were members of the LDS. So I do know what I am talking about. Sorry you can't say the same. Instead of merely reading a bunch of articles off the Internet, try doing some real homework before you start screaming at people and accusing them of not knowing what they are talking about, when it is you who does not know what you are talking about.
The GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" only believes in change that he can steal from the Piggy Banks of the Middle Class, the Working Poor, the elderly, and the disabled. Yes America! GOP/RNC loves the shiny change that he has hidden in many offf shore accounts. To the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" the idea of change means coinage that is shiny and it jingles to many lovely sounds in his deep pockets. Then this "Change" that is hidden in foreign banks, and in foreign bonds. When the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" yells I want more "Change!" It is the "Gold Change" and "Silver Change" that he has stacked up in one of his many quiet rooms. In his quiet room the GOP/RNC "Speculator and Chief" loves to rub the many "Coins Of Change" on his face. That is fact!
