Two polls out Wednesday show President Barack Obama on top of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in the swing state of Wisconsin.
Obama leads, 54 percent to 40 percent, in a Marquette University Law poll released Wednesday afternoon. The same poll found Obama with a narrower, 49 to 46 percent, lead over Romney before both party conventions, and shortly after the Republican candidate named Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate.

A separate poll of Wisconsin voters conducted by Quinnipiac University, the New York Times and CBS News also found Obama with an advantage in the Badger State. Obama led by six points, 51 to 45 percent, in that poll released this morning.
NBC News considers Wisconsin a "toss-up" state for purposes of its battleground map. NBC News will have the results of a third poll of Wisconsin, conducted in partnership with Marist College and the Wall Street Journal, on Thursday.
The Marquette poll was conducted Sept. 13-16 and has a 4.1 percent margin of error for its sample of likely voters. The Quinnipiac/NYT/CBS poll was conducted Sept. 11-17 and has a 2.5 percent margin of error.

Think the Badger State has figured out ryan is really a liar, Jaynesville?
Obama 2012
We can only hope that the people that voted for Obama the first time ...yes those that are unemployed, those that are sucking the food stamp cow , those that are collecting the fraudulent welfare checks, those that are broke down and driving the rust bucket cars....well I for one want them to hurt a little bit more. While I go to work everyday and have a nice home and new cars and a substantial bank account , you obama supporters are just living in your poor ghetto like existence and I for one don't care. Keep covering your hand over that food stamp card while you slide it at the grocery store. You will see the light of day only it will be to late for you and the minions like you represent YES YES YES vote Obama and reap four more years of misery.
Funny...I am not unemployed, or on food stamps, but I support Obama.
Would you care to explain this fascinating anomaly?
BTW: Ask yourself why your political worldview depends almost entirely on believing the myth that anyone who supports President Obama is on welfare, and somehow less than a human being?
the republican fantasy is anyone that supports Obama must be on welfare...
Seems like someone needs some fact checking:
http://factcheck.org/2012/09/dependency-and-romneys-47-percenters/
I also love how some of you scream about the jobless rate, and then turn around and yell at those without a job for not wanting to starve to death!
Imagine what THIS week's polls will look like, post Romney's "47%" quote.
It is not racist nor anti union to be against excesses. It is racist to believe in someone because of his skin color. It is anti-union to believe in taking union dues to spend politically whether or not the members agree with that position. It is not a good thing for unions to demand teachers salaries to go up from an average of $72,000 with a pension/benefits in a town where the average is $54,000 without a pension/benefits ....and it is insulting that Chicago can not pay for its own educational district relying heavy on state infusion of funds when the bulk of the Illinois's education districts do not.
It is not good union practice to say that union work quality does not matter and only that it is union when the past was that being union meant better quality. Teachers in Chicago are failing their students and blaming others for not being able to teach minimums in education...wonder where they get blaming others for your failures is acceptable?
How is it that union leaders can say they care less about the students? Explain to me why any state must have a retention room for any teacher who had a problem and does not teach but must report to a 'rubber room' and still gets full pay?? The tail is wagging the dog and most taxpayers have had enough, they are not talking nor polling, but just as in 2010... they are mad as hell and they are going to vote.
UH that is why I said " those "..Try reading and comprehending next time
I am curious to know something:
Why does the political worldview of so many on the right seem to depend almost entirely on believing the myth that anyone who supports President Obama is on welfare, and is somehow less than a human being? Or that Obama is a Muslim Terrorist? Or that he burns flags? Or that he was born in Kenya?
I don't want Gov. Romney as my president because he has displayed over and over again that he is very out of touch with the average American. His recent statements regarding "The 47%..." is just the latest example of this...and it CAME OUT OF HIS OWN MOUTH.
I don't like Mr. Romney because I believe he is secretly trying to take down America, or is really a radical Mormon who will try and convert us all, and so on.
If your political worldview depends on believing massive, irrational conspiracies put into your head by entities who will directly profit from Obama's demise, well...you should take a BIG step back and look at things with a fresh pair of eyes.
I mean "I don't like Mr. Romney NOT because I believe he is secretly trying to take down America, or is really a radical Mormon who will try and convert us all, and so on."
That's a bunch of bunk. Look at Obama's record, he had a Democrat controlled House and Senate the first two years of his Presidency. He's added $6 trillion to our national debt and is spending $1.2 trillion more than we take in every year. He's made hundreds of promises he hasn't kept and has done almost nothing to get our economy moving again. He has the most corrupt Justice Department in our history and has actually put admitted communists in his administration. On foreign policy, he has failed, on our economy he has failed and all we have to show for 4 years of Obama is a citizenry that hates each other. Romney isn't perfect but he's a whole lot better than what we have now.
luke,
I know you probably hear it a lot, but the President has not added $6 trillion to the debt
and next year's deficit is $900 billion, not $1.2 trillion
Romney looks down on half the country and makes policy for the 1%... no wonder he is losing...
“ROMNEYHOOD” ECONOMICS: WHAT WILLARD MITT ROMNEY BELIEVES—BASED ON AVAILABLE EVIDENCE. Remember: he told ABC.s David Muir: “I tend to tell people what I actually believe.
THAT asking millionaires and billionaires to contribute more is “class warfare.”
THAT 72% of Americans who support raising taxes on the rich and millionaires “don’t understand.” (Only millionaires and billionaires who go to his fundraising at the Koch Brothers Hampton mansion).
THAT asking him to release multiple years of his tax returns is “class warfare.” In response, de decides to deliberately run a campaign based on lies, distortions, insults and racism—and no discussion of issues or Bain, his Governorship or healthcare.
THAT others are lying about him but he freely lies about others in his ads even after debunked by several journalists and fact-checkers.
THAT examining his record at Bain Capital, the “business experience” he is running on, is “class warfare” and an “attack against capitalism.” But we know that some bad capitalists are still in prison in America, some put away by George W.
THAT Ryan’s budget that proposes reverse Robin Hood (take from the poor to support the rich) is “excellent.” Obama characterizes it “ROMNEYHOOD.”
THAT the poor and middle class should be left on their own. He said: “I’m not concerned about the poor. They have social security”; then he wants to drastically cut social security.
THAT Detroit should go bankrupt.
THAT nothing should be done about the housing market and Feds should do nothing about the economy..
THAT he is “unemployed” too, just like millions of Americans looking for work.
THAT he is entitled to occupy the White House. His wife said: “It is our turn.” And he was on her side smiling approvingly! Now it is campaign “built on a tripod of lies.” (David Plouffe)
THAT HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) that cares for our Veterans and the poor should be eliminated.
THAT it is best to discuss his future policies and plans in a “quiet room” during the campaign season, not in public. No one will ever notice! We’ll find out what he intends to do after the election. He would not offer specifics, discuss his time as Mass. Gov. or release his tax returns as previous Presidential candidates have done.
THAT it is better for his administration (remember Massachusetts) to take government computers and hard drives with them on their way out after public service. No one will ever know the secrets.
THAT “virginal probe” Republican governors deserve his support.
THAT Planned Parenthood should be de-funded, and should not exist.
THAT “personhood” measures in Republican-controlled states is dead on.
THAT Robert Bork will make an excellent Supreme Court Justice. (Bork doesn’t believe that women have an equal right under the Constitution).
THAT Rove v. Wade must be overturned by the Supreme Court.
THAT Dick Cheney is his kind of guy—and the kind of VP he is looking for.
THAT mass deportation (what he calls “self-deportation”) of illegal immigrants is doable and proper and that the Dream Act is a bad idea and he would veto it if given the chance as President.
THAT Alabama and Arizona-type immigration laws are “excellent.” He said that Arizona’s immigration law should be a “model” for the country.
THAT stashing money away in foreign banks, away from the prying eyes of IRS agents, is a sign of success and privilege.
THAT “vulture capitalism” is the way to go for America and he extols its virtue as “business experience.”
THAT firing workers for personal profit of the few is the hallmark of capitalism. He said: “I like to fire people.”
THAT gays and lesbians can be “cured.”
THAT he is not a role model for young people. Therefore, it is O.K. to be two-faced and to be a serial liar. As syndicated columnist of the Washington Post Richard Cohen put it, lying for Romney is “like a business plan.”
THAT his dog “Seamus” is happier being left on the roof of the car than inside during long distance travels.
THAT rich women who stay home to look after their children “work” but poor people who do the same are not working. Rich women use mostly nannies to do their chores and child-minding; poor people have no such help.
THAT he will “stop the attack on people” as long as he is the only one making the attack. Remember Romney’s carpet bombing attacks ads against opponents, especially New Gingrich and Rick Santorum.
THAT the Department of Education should be eliminated, merged or marginalized.
THAT it is O.K. to be fundraising with Birther-In-Chief Donald, Rickett and the likes.
THAT we don’t need to hire any more police officers, firefighters, nurses and teachers nor do we need to put them back to work protecting our neighborhoods, fighting our fires, nursing the sick and elderly and teaching our kids even in the face of overcrowded classrooms.
THAT “mandate” in RomneyCare is not a tax but a “penalty”—but in ObamaCare (ACA) it is a “tax.” (Convoluted, tortuous, convenient reasoning, you might say)!
THAT any one who dares to ask him to release more of his tax returns is “un-American,” does not understand how business works in America (ACA- Sununu as surrogate) and should be gutter-sniped.
THAT President Obama does not belong or understand how to speak to “Anglo-Saxons.” Romney who went to London (July 25-26th, 2012) failed to communicate to real Anglos. Unlike Obama’s many visits to Great Britain, Romney (“Romeeley,” as Mayor of London Boris Johnson called him) embarrassed himself and America big time. That perhaps is his biggest faux pas (diplomatic and cultural bungle) so far.
THAT 47% of the country that support Obama are loffers, losers, takers who feel they are “entitled” and are “victimized. That happens to include all almost all Americans—elders, students, military families, the disabled, laid off workers looking for jobs and lots of Southerners. (Watch Romney’s Florida fundraising tape on You-Tube released Sep 17-18, 2012 where he even told Iran and terrorists how to bomb Chicago).
Nice "rant" but it's really just a bunch of crap. The top 20% already pay over 90% of our Federal income taxes so that should be off the table. In 1984 only 14.8% of working Americans didn't pay any taxes, now it is 49%. We are $16 trillion in debt and we are spending $1.2 trillion more than we take in every year. If you think for one minute that raising taxes even more on the wealthy is going to pay for your entitlements then you really don't have a clue.
Lukewarm,
Need some fact-checking:
http://factcheck.org/2012/09/dependency-and-romneys-47-percenters/
If any of the national media stations were to offer me a million bucks to swallow their fabrications, they would have to try harder, a whole lot harder, all TV News can do is "LIE" through their teeth...............
Another one who says "don't confuse me with facts" Republican TROLL
The Mortgage deduction allows you to keep more of YOUR MONEY.
Social security was originally intended as a contract where the Government took YOUR MONEY and put it aside to pay for Grandma in her later years.
The GI bill was EARNED by those that signed that blank check when they entered Military.
None of what you mentioned is GIVEN by the Government.
Typical Leftist thinking.
Those who believe that the government is the problem blame the people because our government is what the people voted to have it do; the government of the people, by the people and for the people is not the problem; a government controlled by the wealthy and corporation interests is the problem. Romney is for a government controlled by the wealthy and corporation interests.
Ok you got your talking points in but did not refute one statement.
Typical Leftist, no original thinking only the mass speak of the talking point.
I believe that I can spend MY MONEY wiser than the Government.
I do Agree we get the Government we deserve and the sooner Romney gets elected and you 47% get a job he creates, start paying taxes and join those that want to keep their money out of the hands of the Redistribution crowd the better.
Thinkinglongterm,
The vast majority of people in the 46.4%, to be accurate, who don't pay Federal income taxes are working, making over $30,000 a year and are not paying taxes BECAUSE of things like the mortgage interest deduction!!! That is the most expensive deduction out there as it's taken by so many people. The fact is that a deduction, or loophole, is to allow you to reduce your taxable income. "Keeping more of your own money" as you said. That is what most of these folks are doing. Sometimes, because of deductions for family members, mortgage, child care expenses, medical, student loan interest, educational expenses etc, they don't have any tax obligation! That's who is making up most of the people Romney is referring to! Most of the rest are elderly living on Social Security. Still think these people are lazy, non-working moochers? People such as yourself don't even realize what they're getting from the government! Take those deductions away, as apparently you want to do, and you're voting to raise your own taxes.
Read the facts:
http://factcheck.org/2012/09/dependency-and-romneys-47-percenters/
Pew is polling 9% more democrats.
The Quinnipiac/NYT/CBS poll is polling 9% more democrats

You obviously do not understand statistical sampling.
This election is a choice between two visions for the future of America: One vision is for continuation of the progressive vision of a balance between equality and freedom as the moral foundation of justice, and a more recent conservative vision of an entitlement due the wealthy and the equivalence of corporations to the rights and protections of natural persons under the Constitution.
A progressive future is one in which government is a custodian of the public trust and advocates for justice; where justice is a balance between equality and freedom. Government as a custodian of the public trust means that everyone plays by the same rules and that everyone is equal before the law. Public trust means the rights of the people to preserve and protect the common property of the United States is not severable to the interests of privatization. Public trust means that a corporation has no rights except those given to it by law and does not have equal standing with a natural born person under the Constitution.
The conservative future is one of a hostile corporate takeover with privatization of government functions. The corporate takeover means that having wealth is an effective barrier to others participating in the process of government. It means that government would no longer serve the interests of the community but collaborate with the wealthy corporate owners to establish a separate set of laws that entitle them to preferential treatment while creating barriers to competition by eliminating opportunities for others.
The free market is a myth: if it isn't regulated by government to prevent fraud, it is regulated by the corporate oligarchy to prevent competition. Free means not having to go to jail for fraud and theft.
Freedom of speech for corporations is a political myth: the right to free speech is a right of the natural born person, not an artifact of legal convention.
The conservative options for health care are no birth control, no abortion and no health insurance unapproved by a corporate CEO. The progressive option is universal health care and the right of women to make their own health decisions.
This election is about protecting the American value of living according to one's conscience, as opposed to having a religious elite create intrusive bureaucratic regulations supporting their sectarian religious doctrine.
This election is about education for citizenship, not choice for a privileged elite who don't want to associate with the classes below them.
This election is about living in fear promoted by gun merchants, or finding a means to reducing the violence that haunts personal security.
This election is about who gets to rewrite the tax laws: a privileged elite who personally benefits from tax entitlements to the wealthy, or one who advocates for tax fairness.
This election is about who gets to nominate justices to the Supreme Court: pack a court with conservative judicial activists who want to roll back voting and human rights, or one who advocates for judicial competence and fairness.
This election is about restoring the rights of workers as a civil right, and not disenfranchising workers of the right to decent wages, decent working conditions and peacefully addressing their employers for redress of grievances.
This election is a moral choice between affiliation or aggression, empathy or egotism, service or selfishness, cooperation or competitiveness.
The tale of two visions is the difference between a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and a government run by a plutocracy of wealth and corporate power.
Public trust means the rights of the people to preserve and protect the common property of the United States is not severable to the interests of privatization.
Not sure if you just copied and pasted this directly from Marxist teachings but what you are advocating is Socialism. You can twist it anyway you want but private property, individual rights and a non-obtrusive government that is controlled by the people, not the other way around is what our country was founded on. If you don't like it, get out!
Does Public trust include the redistribution of wealth by those in power?
Just more Obama BS numbers.... Barrack ( Barry ) Obama lies you know.... just check his college student aid documents.... says he's from Indonisia or something like that....
If you voted for this guy four years ago, you got screwed, if you vote for his this election, you deserve to get screwed....
You little people worry about the stupidest things. Grow a pair and a brain and go back to school.
"Poopster"-Did you just get home from school? How was recess?
You know the student aid thing was an April Fool's joke, right?
http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/was-obama-born-in-the-usa/
Virginia is a swing state.
Y'all need to come to Loudoun County and run a poll.
Well, if they just poll the two of you it will be a tie.
No margin of error even.
That I'm a Republican and voting for Romney not Obama, and if they polled me the outcome would be different.
There I spaced the words out to give you time to attempt to comprehend the meaning of my original statement.
Get it?
Thinking Long Term, your arrogance matches your candidate's. How does it feel to be an idiot on the losing team? You DO realize that you are on the losing team, don't you? Romney has not only shot himself in the foot, he has shot his foot off completely.
Sorry to BUST your bubble . No way in hell I would vote for RobME . Just my Independent thought .
Higher and more to the Center-line , is where , Mittens shot himself .
Uh-oh, there goes one more state that Bishop Romney MUST win to become POTUS. This Mormon is toast and his little boy toy, Peckerwood Ryan, is losing his home state and probably a House Seat.
I believe that right now just about everyone knows who they are voting for. Independents especially. There's nothing in Romney or his team that will change my mind after all. I've seen enough! Romney can't do the job. Plain and simple. He would be the worst thing that could happen to this battered country of ours. Obama has a good plan if he can just get it going. I'll take my chances with him. And I hope we can get the good for nothing House to work for the people. After all, isn't it in their job description?!
Exactly. Precisely.
I think that we would have been much further along in the recovery if the whiny TP got out of the way.
wow...this is getting funny
not sure what will be better..watching the right man for the job being re-elected or watching the Tbags throw child-like hissy fits
either or...win win for America......lose lose for the American Taliban
Obama caught in another lie. The bad news keeps coming for Obama....
A top Obama administration official called last week's deadly assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya a "terrorist attack" for the first time -- a statement that publicly casts doubt on Obama's claim it was a "spontaneous" act.
"Yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy," Matt Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said during a Senate hearing Wednesday.
His statement goes beyond White House Press Secretary Jay Carney and Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate was spontaneous. He is the first top administration official to call the strike an act of terrorism.
How desperate and pathetic, can you spell!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell does that have to do with polls ?
Shill.
Just shows that sheep like yourself will worship at obama's feet even when he's lying to your face.
Can you spell THEOCRACY ? We don't want it . Can you spell Plutocracy , WE don't want it .Can you spell The same Ideas , Policies and Such , That we had from 2000 to 2008 ???? WE don't want it . It Is Simple WE , DO not want , what you are trying to sell . WE cannot afford you . WE have had enough .
I certainly don't want Bush back either, or his economic philosophy. Times are different now, I'd say still in recession, and the same old tactics, either Democrat or Republican arent working or going to work. It may be that a successful, maybe ruthless, business man, if he works WITH congress, can turn the tide.
In 46 days we all have a chance to decide.
I will be listening closely during the debates, to see if there are any NEW plans to address our CURRENT economy.
Com'on you Gaseous Old Pharts! Do you really want someone that has shot himself in the foot as many times as your guy, to run the country? Now who has the low IQ? Your blatant theft of the White House in 2000 was your smoking gun. If you steal it for your guy this time through you voter suppression, early poll closings, wiping registered voters off of the rolls.............. this will be your mushroom cloud that you have exploded over our entire Country and our Democracy.
Are you really that spiteful?
The only potential Mushroom cloud is the one Iran is planning to put over Israel a fact that Barry Soetoro AKA Barack Hussein Obama seems perfectly happy to ignore.
"Barry" has done far more than was done by the previous administration. At least he put sancitons with teeth in place. The previous Republican administration had more leverage to get it done when Iran was early in development but did nothing.
Of course, that's irrelevant to you, I'm sure.
Meantime, what do you suggest we do? Invade Iran ?
Sanctions have no effect on those in power the only person you are hurting is Joe average or in this case Mustapha average.
Oh, jeeze, that's damning. Try again newbie.
Who are the traitors? No accusation is yet.
"In 2003 Gaddafi admitted Libya's responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing and paid compensation to the victims' families though he maintained that he never personally gave the order for the attack . . . As a result, President Bush signed Executive Order 13477 restoring the Libyan government's immunity from terror-related lawsuits and dismissing all of the pending compensation cases in the US, the White House said.[118] US State Department spokesman, Sean McCormack, called the move a "laudable milestone ... clearing the way for a continued and expanding US-Libyan partnership."
Recalling all 3000 warnings from the our government to the WH in 2001, before 9/11/2001, what on earth no one in the WH has refused to take any action when they have known the storm has come?

have described his polices going forward into a second term are going to be.
Judge for yourselves if any of these three
descriptions fit in any way what the President and his operatives have outlined,
please vote on this with a Like if you agree.

Com"mu*nism (?), n.
[F. communisme, fr. commun common.] A scheme of equalizing the social
conditions of life; specifically, a scheme which contemplates the abolition of
inequalities in the possession of property, as by distributing all wealth
equally to all, or by holding all wealth in common for the equal use and
advantage of all. &hand; At different times, and in different countries,
various schemes pertaining to socialism in government and the conditions of

Socialism (Page: 1365)
So"cial*ism (?), n. [Cf. F. socialisme.] A theory or system
of social reform which contemplates a complete reconstruction of society, with
a more just and equitable distribution of property and labor. In popular usage,
the term is often employed to indicate any lawless, revolutionary social scheme.
See Communism,
Fourierism,
Saint-Simonianism, forms of socialism.
[Socialism] was first applied in England to Owen's theory of social
reconstruction, and in France
to those also of St. Simon and Fourier . . . The word, however, is used with a
great variety of meaning, . . . even by economists and learned critics. The
general tendency is to regard as socialistic any interference undertaken by
society on behalf of the poor, . . . radical social reform which disturbs the
present system of private property . . . The tendency of the present socialism
is more and more to ally itself with the most advanced democracy. Encyc.

We certainly want a true history of socialism,
meaning by that a history of every systematic attempt to provide a new social
existence for the mass of the workers. F. Harrison.

ideology and socioeconomic
theory developed by Karl
Marx and Friedrich
Engels. The fundamental ideology of communism, it holds
that all people are entitled to enjoy the fruits of their labour but are
prevented from doing so in a capitalist economic system, which divides society
into two classes: nonowning workers and nonworking owners. Marx called the
resulting situation “alienation,” and he said that when the workers repossessed
the fruits of their labour, alienation would be overcome and class divisions
would cease. The Marxist theory of history posits class struggle as history's
driving force, and it sees capitalism as the
most recent and most critical historical stage—most critical because at this
stage the proletariat
will at last arise united. The failure of the European Revolutions
of 1848 and an increasing need to elaborate on Marxist theory, whose
orientation is more analytical than practical, led to adaptations such as Leninism and Maoism. In the late
20th century the collapse of the Soviet Union
and its Eastern bloc allies seemed to mark the end of Soviet Marxism as a
practical political or economic model. Meanwhile, China adopted many elements of a
free-market economy in what it called a development rather than a repudiation
of Marxist theory. In the West, Marxism continues to be appreciated as a
critique of market capitalism and a theory of historical change. See
also Communist Manifesto; dialectical
materialism; socialism;
Stalinism; Trotskyism.
