Obama leads in two Wisconsin polls, with third on the way

Two polls out Wednesday show President Barack Obama on top of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in the swing state of Wisconsin.

Obama leads, 54 percent to 40 percent, in a Marquette University Law poll released Wednesday afternoon. The same poll found Obama with a narrower, 49 to 46 percent, lead over Romney before both party conventions, and shortly after the Republican candidate named Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate.

A separate poll of Wisconsin voters conducted by Quinnipiac University, the New York Times and CBS News also found Obama with an advantage in the Badger State. Obama led by six points, 51 to 45 percent, in that poll released this morning.

NBC News considers Wisconsin a "toss-up" state for purposes of its battleground map. NBC News will have the results of a third poll of Wisconsin, conducted in partnership with Marist College and the Wall Street Journal, on Thursday.

The Marquette poll was conducted Sept. 13-16 and has a 4.1 percent margin of error for its sample of likely voters. The Quinnipiac/NYT/CBS poll was conducted Sept. 11-17 and has a 2.5 percent margin of error.

Now that we know Romney's parents were Mexican refugees, does that make Mitt an anchor-baby? We also found out his parents got welfare; does that mean his parents are 47 per-centers. By the way, since Colorado was mentioned, even the Republicans I know think Romney is a joke. The most common question: Is this the best we could come up with? And since they are Republicans, I occasionally have to educate them on how each party selects candidates. I assured them that Mitt was picked long before the primaries came to Colorado. They don't seem to get much relief from that fact, though. Oh well.

Romney himself is actually a 47%. He pays little or no Federal Income Tax because he doesn't work. He gets his money from investment income and only has to pay 15% Capital Gains tax. Even then he found ways to get it down to 13.9.

        #57.1 - Wed Sep 19, 2012 4:59 PM EDT

I don't know that it's entirely accurate to call Romney's grandparents "Mexican refugees", they were actually American refugees that fled to Mexico to escape prosecution for bigamy.

As many times as the Romney campaign has shot themselves in the foot, I'm surprised he can still walk. Maybe they went to the Cheney School of Hunting.

People saw through Romney's old repbublican racist strategy of trying to divide and make voters angry about the welfare recepients not working, a total lie.

So now he has expanded this stategy to try to divide and turn Americans against 47% of their own fellow citizens, trying to make his hopeful voters angry enough to vote for him.

By trying to create jealousy, anger, and resentment toward these 47%, even though many are working 40-60 hrs a week, or retired, or just can't get hired to hirer paying jobs, even though they are qualified, becasue they have been DISCRIMINATED against by republican hiring management , FOR BEING A "DEMOCRAT".

THIS IS THE REAL ROMNEY, DO WE THIS KIND OF MAN FOR PRESIDENT.

HIS JOB IS NOT TO WORRY OR "CARE" ABOUT THESE 47%. In other words, get those knives and scissors ready, they have a safety net their going to cut to pieces!

That's right, Repugnants - keep trying to find a way to destroy America with your Pal-in-comparison and Rombots because eventually, it's going to bring down EVERYONE, even the wealthy. If you don't believe it, ask who really spends the most money to keep America moving - it's the middle class, because there are so very many more of us than any other section of this nation's society/economy. What affects US will eventually affect YOU because, if you continue on this way, none of your businesses will succeed. Unless we ALL succeed, no one will succeed in the long run. We are the rising tide that lifts all boats, even your yachts!

It don't matter if Romney wins... Romney has already said that if he is elected he will only be president to half the country... So the other half of the country won't even need to call him president. I guess Romney will have to share the White House with Obama if Romney wins the election.

I can guarantee you that those are completely BS poll numbers. I am from Minnesota and have family and friends in Wisconsin. Oblahblah doesn't have a prayer in Wisconsin. They pick people who will answer their polls in the way that they want. You people can't honestly believe that polls are honest??? Really??? Oh, and as far as Democrats being dumb...not so much. Most I know are quiet intelligent...what they lack is common sense. Most liberals I know have absolutely no common sense. They honestly believe that if you read it on the internet or hear it on the Today Show, it MUST be true.

That's what the losers always say. So you ave a few friends in Wisconsin and they speak for the entire state??? Tell us -- if polls are BS -- why do candidates spend so much money doing their own polls??? Romney is in DEEP trouble. Limbaugh, Savage, and a bunch of conservative commentators know it.

Do you guys not get how random sampling works? After they're contacted based on random sampling (look it up if you've never taken a stats class) one of the questions they ask is how they identify politically. All this shows is that more people are identifying as Democrats from this random sample. That would, logically, tend to show more Democrats in existence and therefore, more support for the Democratic candidate. I'm confident you wouldn't be calling into question the validity of the polling if the results were in your candidate's favor!

Yes, Cheryl, leadership is something we Dems know a lot about - because LOOK AT THE ALTERNATIVE LOSER you're presenting versus ours, who is absolutely brilliant! How can anyone in their right mind choose a prissy rich guy who can't go a day without saying or doing something to offend someone! DIPLOMACY is an important part of leadership, and President Obama has shown diplomacy in dealing with other countries and true leadership for four of the most difficult years I have ever seen in this country. You talk as though you're UPSET that Obama got binLaden! The fact that there are more binLadens out there does not surprise anyone, but now all those binLadens have been put on notice. Navy Seals will come after you and kill you no matter where, no matter what. Look what your guy's idea is, as he noted on the most recent tape that, like everything he does, again has gone viral - he said just let everything fall where it is and see if something takes care of it! REALLY, Misery? That's your ANSWER? Pathetic...

I don't fear monger - I tell the truth as I see it, and your party could not be more racist if they were running around in white sheets over their heads. We are not fooled. So many of you don't even realize you're racist and that is the reason you hate Obama. It's even on the political talk shows that so many of you will only vote for Romney, who you have never liked, just to try to get Obama OUT! That is no reason to vote. I've heard so much garbage from your party, and so much tolerance from mine, excuse me if one of us erupts every once in a while - we just get so stinking sick of you.

Republicans keep trying to destroy organized labor and UNIONS in this country making them weaker and weaker. Wisconsin and OHIO good examples, voters able to repeal the scheme they passed in OHIO.

Then they want to bitch and gripe, cause the slave wages allow the workers to still meet income guidlines and qualify for government programs. Keep attacking UNIONS and organized labor, and watch that 47% grow to an even bigger number, because of the slave wages you have promoted and allowed, all the wihile productivity increasing and corportate profits keep increasing, while real worker wages and spending power is decreasing.

Polls are getting to be like arss holes or opinions, in that everyone has one. The only poll that you can believe is the poll taken after the election. Most if not all of the media polls are loaded to deceive he public, especially NBC,CBC,MS-NBC so why bother. obama has his freeloaders and if obama gets enough of them he will win. But what is he winning, he will win the end of America, is that a good thing.
