Obama: 'You've got to work for everybody, not just for some'

“President Barack Obama slammed Mitt Romney on Tuesday for ‘writing off a big chunk of the country’ after a secretly made video showed the Republican presidential nominee dismissing Obama supporters as victims who are dependent on the government,” Reuters writes.

Obama said on Letterman last night: "One of the things I've learned as president is you represent the entire country. My expectation is if you want to be president, you've got to work for everybody, not just for some.”

He also added this though about his response to his “bitter” remarks four years ago: "When you run for president, you are under a microscope all the time. All of us make mistakes. That incident in 2008, I immediately said, 'I regret this.’”

That is something Mitt Romney has not done.

Pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA is out with an ad hitting Romney for his closed-door remarks. The ad, Priorities says, will run in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

ANNOUNCER: Behind these doors [shows picture of a mansion], Mitt Romney calls half the American people…
ROMNEY: ‘dependent upon government who believe that they are victims.”
ANNOUNCER: Victims? Behind these doors [shows a modest home with a baby being washed in a sink], middle-class families struggle. Mitt Romney will make things even tougher, raising taxes by up to $2,000 to give multimillionaires a $250,000 tax break.
ROMNEY: ‘I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility.’
ANNOUNCER: And Mitt Romney will never convince us that he’s on our side.

“Several hundred lawyers protesting an anti-Islam video forced their way into an area in Pakistan's capital that houses the U.S. Embassy and other foreign missions on Wednesday, and the United States temporarily closed its consulate in an Indonesian city because of similar demonstrations,” AP writes.

When they get behind closed doors,

Then they let their hair hang down,

And they rig some more tax plans.

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors.

(except Mother Jones and J.C. IV and now...the public.)

Obama Praises Redistribution, Talks About Propaganda

What's your point Harley Chic?

The media hasn't ignored it, I watched it on the news this morning. So Obama wants redistribution from the top to the bottom and Romney wants it from the bottom to the top. What makes more sense here???

@mayamomma: The only people saying that Romney believes in redistribution from the bottom to the top are democrats.

Even one of the most popular democrat presidents in our history believed in what Romney is saying...a rising tide raises all boats.

One of the biggest problem with redistribution of wealth is that Obama believes it needs to be "pooled" by the federal government and redistributed so that "...everybody has a shot." A "shot" at what?

Romney said: 'I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility.'

I thought the whole point of the individual mandate in Obamacares, modeled on Massachusetts's Romneycare, was to have people take personal responsibility for buying health insurance, and the Republicans are up in arms against the mandate because it takes away their "freedom" to game the system, and only buy insurance after they get sick, or stick the providers with unpaid bills? Sounds to me like President Obama is the one convincing people to take personal responsibility. The richie riches who own stock in private hospitals should be grateful to him.

      Amy,

Republican game the system and only by purchase health insurance after they are sick?

      Since when?

        #2.1 - Wed Sep 19, 2012 11:17 AM EDT

@Amy B.: The mandate doesn't change anything. Individuals have a whole tax year to purchase health insurance. Since there is no such thing as pre-existing conditions exclusions, an individual can wait until something happens before purchasing health insurance. If they don't need health insurance, they simply pay a very small penalty relative to paying insurance for the whole year. For this reason, the savings that were to be realized by mandating younger, healthier individuals purchase policies, won't materialize.

It shows just how much Romney is detached from reality. Cannot wait for the debates to see what kind of idiotic remarks he will make then. Willard is a walking, talking joke who just cannot relate to the middle class or the poor. Reminds me of the plantation owners of the south during the Civil war. I have read they were just as arrogant as Willard is today. When are the Republicans realize they made another giant mistake choosing Willard Mittens Rmoney as their Presidential candidate for 2012. And to further their woes, he chose the idiot from Wisconsin, Lyin' Paul Ryan.

Now we know that the video was wrong,

Several hundred lawyers protesting an anti-Islam video forced their way into an area in Pakistan's capital that houses the U.S. Embassy and other foreign missions on Wednesday...

You know you are in trouble when LAWYERS start protesting. They might just TRIPLE bill you.

Someone told me that they thought Obama was working for only 99% of the population and that isn't ALL. Well, said I, at least 99% is closer than Willard's 1% that he represents.

Sounds like the president is saying I should have to work for everyone, not just for my family.

That is how socialism works. Soon, as in all communist plans, the government has all the money and millionaires.

Now get to work to support others, and oh buy the way you also have to support a HUGE government waste machine at the same time
