NBC/WSJ poll: Obama leads Romney nationally by 5 points

According to the latest NBC/WSJ poll, President Obama had a five-point lead when survey participants were asked who they would vote for, and 42 percent of those surveyed believe the economy will get better under Obama. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.

Fueled by increased optimism about the economy and nation’s direction, President Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney by 5 points among likely voters and now sees his job-approval rating reaching the 50 percent threshold for the first time since March, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The survey – which was conducted after the two party conventions and the political firestorm over last week’s U.S. Embassy attacks, but before Romney’s controversial comments about the 47 percent of the country “who are dependent on government” – shows the percentages believing that the country is headed in the right direction and thinking that the economy will improve at their highest levels since 2009.

In the presidential horse race, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden get the support of 50 percent of likely voters, while Romney and running mate Paul Ryan get 45 percent.

National Review and Bloomberg View's Ramesh Ponnuru, Roll Call's Shira Toeplitz and The Hotline's Reid Wilson take a look at the latest numbers out of the NBC, Wall Street Journal and Marist poll and talk about how battleground states may play out for the presidential candidates.

NBC/WSJ poll: Obama's approval on foreign policy drops

Among a wider sample of registered voters, the president’s lead is 6 points, 50 percent to 44 percent – up from Obama’s 4-point edge last month, 48 percent to 44 percent.

“It’s clear to me that Barack Obama has moved a … step ahead,” says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff.

Evan Vucci / AP

President Barack Obama waves as he boards Air Force One on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 in Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

Yet Hart cautions, “It’s a step and only a step.”

Read the full poll here (.pdf)

For his part, McInturff adds that the presidential race may very well have seen an inflection point. “The president is in a stronger position than he was before the convention.”

But noting similarities between the current numbers and those from the 2004 George W. Bush vs. John Kerry race, he urges that this contest could be just as competitive.

“If you look at ’04 as a model, ’04 was really close. And that’s how we should continue to think about the campaign.”

Economic optimism on the rise
According to the survey, 39 percent of registered voters say the country is on the right track, versus 55 percent who say it’s on the wrong track.

The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd reports on a statement that may significantly damage Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.

That right-track number is a 7-point increase from August, and it’s the highest percentage on this question since Sept. 2009.

Forty-two percent of voters also believe the economy will improve in the next 12 months, which is a 6-point jump from August, and a 15-point rise from July.

NBC/WSJ poll: Optimism in Obama presidency increases

What’s more, 47 percent of registered voters approve of the president’s handling of the economy – up 3 points from last month. Obama’s overall job-approval rating stands at 50 percent for the first time since March.

And 38 percent say the country is better off than it was when he became president, which is a 7-point increase from August. But a plurality of voters – 41 percent – maintain that the country is worse off; 21 percent say it’s in the same place.

Obama vs. Romney on the issues
While none of these numbers is ideal for a president facing re-election, Obama is now tied with Romney (43 percent to 43 percent) on which candidate would be better on the economy. In July, Romney held a 6-point advantage on this question.

Hart, the Democratic pollster, says this finding is potentially ominous for Romney. “Simply put, if Romney doesn’t win on dealing with the economy, he doesn’t win.”

On other issues, Obama leads Romney on dealing with taxes (45 percent to 39 percent) and on dealing with Medicare (47 percent to 37 percent).

And the president is ahead of his Republican challenger on three character traits – being a good commander in chief (45 percent to 38 percent), dealing with issues of concern to women (54 percent to 26 percent), and looking out for the middle class (53 percent to 34 percent).

NBC's Chuck Todd says, "Mitt Romney is not a good campaigner" and still must answer questions regarding his comments that were caught on tape. A Morning Joe panel then debates whether Team Romney needs a campaign shakeup.

Comparing 2012 to 2004
Although Obama enjoys these advantages over Romney, the numbers in the NBC/WSJ poll bear a striking resemblance to those from 2004, when Bush narrowly beat Kerry.

And that has McInturff, the GOP pollster, cautioning that this year’s race could be equally close, despite Obama’s current lead.

Read the full poll here (.pdf)

Indeed, in the Sept. 2004 NBC/WSJ poll, 39 percent believed the country was on the right track (versus 39 percent now); 43 percent thought the economy would improve in the next year (versus 42 percent now); and Bush led Kerry by three points among likely voters (versus Obama’s 5-point edge now).

The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted Sept. 12-16 of 900 registered voters (including 270 by cell phone), and it has margin of error of plus-minus 3.3 percentage points. In that sample, the survey also identified 736 likely voters, and the margin of error there is plus-minus 3.6 percentage points.

Oh Dear!

This news is sure to give the RWNJ's some serious heartburn! lol

With economic optimism on the rise, what will Willard be left to lie about now?

While this is indeed great news, NOW is not the time for supporters of President Obama to become complacent!

We must keep our eyes open and foot on the gas until we cross the finish line on 11.6.12!!

New York Times Editorial, h/t TOD:

It turns out that Mitt Romney was right. There is class warfare being waged in the 2012 campaign. It is Mr. Romney who is waging it, not President Obama, and he’s stood the whole idea on its head.

When you think of class warfare, you probably think of inciting anger, resentment and jealousy among the have-nots against the haves. That’s what Mr. Romney has accused Mr. Obama of doing, but those charges have always been false. The truth is that Mr. Romney has been trying to incite the anger of a small slice of the richest Americans who need no government assistance but get it anyway, against the working poor, the elderly, the disabled workers and veterans, and even a significant chunk of middle-class Americans.

…. The right wing has long been whining about people who don’t pay taxes and who therefore don’t deserve a say in government. They have it exactly backward. The shame is not that those people don’t pay income taxes. The shame is how many poor people there are when the top 1 percent can amass uncountable fortunes fed by tax breaks and can donate tens of millions of dollars to political candidates to keep it that way.

I read where Rove is pulling back cash from Romney and spending more on congressional seats. He can't bring that lame ass horse to post. Please, bring on the debates and let's send that corporate raider, emotionless, creep back to his many homes. Folks, last time the GOP blocked any bill that would help the average person and continued to propose low taxes on the top earners. Are they now, saying that Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Bush I taxed and spent too much? There is a breaking point. When the military spending rules this government and the wealthiest enjoy the lowest taxes since Truman---and more with the loopholes. Over 50% of corporations pay no tax. It makes me sick to hear the whiners speak of anyone paying zero tax. To say that, they would have to spend zero dollars. The working poor are just that--poor. I think of Eisenhower at a 91% tax rate on the top earners and I look at it now. Romney at 13%. Eisenhower would have handed that dick a huge tax bill and he'd be in prison for hiding cash in The Caymans and Switzerland.

The tax code is broken and Grover Norquist makes the GOPers sign that pledge to not lower taxes or close any loopholes in the tax code.

Actually according to Gallup, Obama had a 7% lead the week after the convention, reaching 50% in that poll. At same time, Rasmussen had Obama with a 5% lead. Since then in just a week, Obama's lead has dropped to 1% in Gallup and falling behind Romney by 2%. The trend is toward Romney, but the polls won't be that accurate until October when the polling agencies want to save their image by pulling a representative segment of the voters.

DJIA Sep 18, 2012 13564

Dec 29, 2008 (Bloomberg) U.S. corporate earnings fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.

May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.

Let see, another typical NBC / WSj poll

Democrats 32%

Republicans 25%

Independents 43%

The turnout Nationally in 2008 was +6 Democrats over Republicans.

In 2010 The democrats edged Republicans by 3 points.

The first question is, Are we going to have a larger democrat turnout than 2008 or a smaller democrat turn out than 2010. If the first, yes, Obama is ahead by 5 points, if not, then the race is a dead heat.

Being that democrat registrations are down more than republican regstriations, I think this poll oversamples democrats by better than 4 points. I also recall seeing several sources showing that the Republicans and Democrats are in a virtual tie in registration.

I also am noting that the swing from outlier poll to outlier poll is much more pronounced in recent national elections. Either the polling companies have no handle on the trend, or somebody is really rigging the results pretty bad.

Well, Obama's media continues to spew out the lies. Gee, when you slant the polls your bound to come up with the answers you want. Sorry libs, but there is no way that Obama is leading. This is just another effort to discourage people who will vote against Obama. But, it won't work. I've conducted a poll and 95% are going to vote for Romney!

I'm sure that if you ask more dems, less repubs and less indies, then you are bound to come up with a poll in favor of Obama. Dems should be worried because using the data they state, you'd think that Obama should have been leading by 12% or more. But, that's OK. I'll enjoy the comments from the libs on the Weds. after.

Seriously, the economy is in the tank thanks to Obama's policies. The embassies are under siege thanks to Obama's policies. And people have a favorable opinion of Obama? No wonder the country is going to hell in a handbasket.

The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted Sept. 12-16 of 900 registered voters

Pretty much says it all right there. 900 people speak for this country of what, 360 million?

I'm sure MSDNC/WSJ could manage a much larger sampling of the population. How about a nationwide poll that includes tens of thousands of voters? Nah, too risky, might have to call it off after all that time and effort. Better to just stop at 900 when you have got the slant you want and then publish as if it's some kind of majority consensus.

Alex,

Yes, Obama did have a 5% lead on Rasmussen last week. Fast forward to today, Romney is up 2%, a 7-point swing in one week. As for electoral votes, the model on the attached link has NEVER been wrong.

Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. To reach those who have abandoned traditional landline telephones, Rasmussen Reports uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel.

So Rasmussen would be less dependable by your logic. Oh that's right, it involves arithmetic and Republicans can't do simple math.

No, it's because Republican talking points are NOT facts.

What I find to be a resounding failure are Republicans who relied totally on hate-speech and negative talking points for help. The ONLY thing Republicans have done in the past 3-1/2 years is try to tear this country down, and tear down the American People!

Instead of Republicans actually doing something constructive to help our economic recovery, Republicans put all their eggs in their "basket of hate" and failed again, just the same as Republicans' "Trickle Down Economics" failed.

Republicans have done absolutely nothing, ZERO, to assist in our Economic Recovery, now Republicans want to be rewarded for doing nothing? I don't think so.

I think it's important to keep perspective here. As usual, we have a fraudulent claim based on a small, biased poll.
"The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted Sept. 12-16 of 900 registered voters (including 270 by cell phone), and it has margin of error of plus-minus 3.3 percentage points. In that sample, the survey also identified 736 likely voters, and the margin of error there is plus-minus 3.6 percentage points."

736 people, with a +-3.6% margin of error. What does this mean? Someone's desperate to have you think Obama's winning. Try getting a national poll of around 100,000 or more people, not just the jaybirds in your office and at your neighbor's condo, mmkay? Obama's still going to lose and cooking the polls to make it look like he's going to win is poor comedy. The actual numbers have Romney ahead about 13%.

2016: Obama's economic policies have continued to fail and driven un-employment to a record high (>15%). The debt has increased by 15 trillion from yearly deficits alone. There is NO hope in sight.

You have RoadWarrior telling us that Rasmussen was number one in predicting who will be president in 2008.. And to take from that how now they have Romney up by two points.. Meaning only one thing that he knows Romney will win because Rasmussen was right in 2008??

Ok, so you go to the same website and Rasmussen has 247 electoral votes for Obama secured.. With 95 up for grabs..

Now you are going to tell me that im getting ahead of myself based on what RoadWarrior said?

Did you know that in 2005 Bush gave 50 BILLION dollars to Iraq for reconstruction and that out of that 50+ billion 8.7 billion are still missing?

Our president gave Solyndra 500 million and with that money they hired 1,100 workers for 2 years??

massachusettz: And exactly what has Obama and the dems done to assist our economic recovery? Considering we don't have one and the fact that Obama and the dems passed everything they wanted the first 2 years under Obama and the last 2 years under W, I'm wondering what policies have been put in place by the dems to spur the economy. The fact is that there has been nothing even remotely intended to spur the economy done by the dems. The only thing the repubs have been able to do is stop Obama from further destroying the country. And, truth be told, they haven't done a terrific job of that either as they have continued to pretty much give Obama what he wants. Once again we get 6 more months of dem spending just so the battle to stop it doesn't have to be fought.

Of course, the House has passed a number of bills to begin to right the ship, but the dems won't even let them be voted on in the Senate.

Reagan was behind more than 5 points this same time when he ran for President and won in a landslide. And a poll by the Obama administrations in the pocket news outlet NBC, really doesn't mean much. I'll bet many of you that watch NBC or MSNBC haven't heard that Obama's Department of Justice watches Fox News all day and then counters the real news with it's own version of news it passes to Media Matters a tax exempt news organization that is supposed to be non partisan, but it feeds news outlets whatever the Obama administration wants them to. I assume they will lose their tax exempt status now that this has been found out. That is why Obama's administration is constantly saying don't watch Fox News, they prefer that you don't get the real news, just the sugar coated news that the Obama administration feed to MSNBC, NBC, ABC and Media Matters to give to all the rest. Obama said before he was Elected he would have the most open administration, and in reality they work harder on feeding you their own version of news and what they want you to hear instead of taking care of the real problems, jobs and the economy. Obama gives great speeches whenever he is in trouble or Americans are weary of his no action Presidency, but I say Actions (actually doing something) speaks loader than words. Mitt has a list a mile long of real successful accomplishments as Governor, businessman and a family man, Obama had no notable accomplishments before he was President and from what I can see, he has none now. I want to see a more progressive agenda. Stop the war spending and spend the money on paying down the debt, a sensible continuation to Universal Health Care, renegotiate of all trade agreements and impose tariffs on countries with heavy trade imbalances. That's the only way that we can force those jobs to return to US soil. Why should we get hit with heavy tariffs around the world or screwed by currency manipulation?

No. You didn't build that. We, as a nation of hard working people, as a society, built that.

    @ Mr Jay

I totally agree. You make more sense than many of the above noted posters. The poll is shoddy and biased. It doesn't represent the USA voters as a whole.

Numbers can be made to say whatever anyone wants them say. Corporations, politicians, etc., do it all the time. Always tipped in their favor. Then gullible people buy into.

The name calling, swearing, and outrageous comments shows what is wrong with our country. The old divide and conquer routine.

The real numbers will be reflected in November.

Read the data and is really confusing since they say there are 900 interviewed and the responses do not add up. I know how to read these things and the questions are tilted. Romney for one has not increased the countries debt but the question was not hypothetical. Surveys and polled no matter how well intended are skewed. The only poll that counts is election day.

      From NPR:

By grouping those who don't pay income taxes together with those who he says are "dependent upon government" and therefore support President Obama, Romney has earned "three Pinocchios" from The Washington Post's The Fact Checker. It writes that:

"Romney appears to conflate a few things — Obama's approval rating, the percentage of people who do not pay income taxes and people who rely on government assistance.

"There may be some overlap between these groups but they really are not the same thing."

In fact, while Romney seemed to say that the president will draw most of his support from those who pay no income taxes, a Tax Foundation map highlighting the 10 states with the highest percentages of "non-payers" shows most are Republican territories:

      — Alabama

      — Arkansas

      — Florida

      — Georgia

      — Idaho

      — Louisiana

      — Mississippi

      — New Mexico

      — South Carolina

      — Texas

      hahahaha
      Romney insulted his own voters.

Sheryl, this is a quote fro the very conservative Laura Ingraham:

"If you can't beat Barack Obama with this record, then shut down the party. Shut it down. Start new, with new people."

She knows Romney will not be president....

During the Republican primary, Ingraham argued that Romney would have to bring his "A-game" to the general election in order to beat Obama. "I don't know if Mitt Romney can beat him," Ingraham said on ABC's "This Week," recalling a conversation she had with prominent conservatives.

It's looking bad for Romney when even his own party is openly critical of him and his campaign. To quote David Brooks:

Romney, who criticizes President Barack Obama for dividing the nation, divided the nation into two groups: the makers and the moochers. Forty-seven percent of the country, he said, are people "who are dependent upon government, who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it."

This comment suggests a few things. First, it suggests that he really doesn’t know much about the country he inhabits. Who are these "freeloaders?" Is it the Iraq war veteran who goes to the VA? Is it the student getting a loan to go to college? Is it the retiree on Social Security or Medicare?

It suggests that Romney doesn’t know much about the culture of the United States. Yes, the entitlement state has expanded, but the United States remains one of the hardest-working nations on earth. Americans work longer hours than just about anyone else. Americans believe in work more than almost any other people. Ninety-two percent say that hard work is the key to success, according to a Pew Research Survey.

It reveals that Romney doesn’t know much about the political culture. Americans have not become childlike worshippers of big government. On the contrary, trust in government has declined. The number of people who think government spending promotes social mobility has declined.

      http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/opinion/54919619-82/government-romney-percent-believe.html.csp

What is bad news for Romney is good news for the American people. I believe Obama has an excellent chance of winning re-election. But it will take a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of his supporters. Complacency is deadly.

First that poll was obviously biased, since the one I took said that 89% believe that our government is going in the wrong direction, with 4% undecided.

      Next:

US District Court Judge Katherine Forrester ruled earlier this year that the indefinite detention provision in the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) is unconstitutional and ordered a block on its enforcement.

Yet now the same Obama who claimed when the NDAA first came out that "he would veto it", is fighting in court to have that "power" put back into the NDAA so he would again be able to use it against American citizens.

Remember back in December of 2011, when President Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 - Section 1021 of that law permits the indefinite military detention of American citizens on a mere suspicions?

Remember when the Obama and his administration attempted to portray itself as an oppositional force against the bill, threatening to veto it if it passed?

While behind the scenes (at the same time he was lying to the American people about vetoing the NDAA) Obama and his administration was fighting to have the ability to indefinitely detain, torture, and able to murder US citizens on US soil on suspicion – included into the NDAA.

Remember back then when he said that he “had” to sign it - but wrote a signing statement that sounded good politically but meant nothing legally.

So what is his excuse for fighting in court to have that illegal power put back into the NDAA?

Romney is no better. Both are traitors to the USA, along with Both Bush's, and both Clinton's, along with a myriad of those who served within their admistrations, previous and current. All need to be arrested and prosecuted.

      T'was the night before elections,
      And all thru' the town,
      Tempers were flaring
      Emotions ran up and down.

      I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap,
      Had shut off the TV,
      tired of political crap.

      When all of a sudden,
      There arose such a noise,
      I peered out my window,
      Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet,
      They wanted my pay
      To hand out to others
Who had not worked a day!

      He snatched up my money,
      And quick as a wink,
      Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink.

      He then rallied his henchmen
      Who were pulling his cart.
I could tell they were out
      To tear my country apart!

      'On Fannie, on Freddie,
      On Biden and Ayers!
      On Acorn, on Pelosi'
      He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause,
And as they flew out of sight,
I heard him laugh at a nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think on this one final note...
IF YOU DON'T WANT SOCIALISM GET OUT AND VOTE !!!!

More U.S. soldiers have been killed and wounded during President Barack Obama's first term in office than former President George W. Bush's two terms. And the anti-war mainstream media that regularly counted the number of deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan under Bush, for the most part, has been silent on the number of deaths and casualties that have resulted under Obama.

Under former President George W. Bush, 575 American soldiers died and fewer than 3,000 were wounded in Afghanistan. This means under Obama, at least 1,405 soldiers have died and nearly 15,000 additional soldiers have been wounded, which means 70% of the deaths and nearly 80% of the injuries in Afghanistan have occurred under Obama's watch.

In 2010, Obama sent 33,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan as part of the "surge," and Americans have been received with more hostility with each passing day. Because Obama is a Democrat, the media has been reluctant to shine more of a light on Afghanistan's destabilization under Obama.

      Mike,

whoever wrote that is an idiot, we are already a "Socialist" nation and have been for some time, ever since the new deal we have had a large amount of Socialism in our Government and economy. The problem is egg heads do not understand the difference between Socialism and Communism. They are not and have never been the same thing. Socialism is a mixture of Communism, Capitalism, and sometimes Fascism that works where pure forms of the other two fail.

There are many levels of Socialism. For example Europe is much more Socialist than we are. We are more on the Capitalist side of Socialism. The place we do not want to be is on the Communist side of it but we are no where near reaching that; we would have to pass by Europe and the Netherlands in terms of Socialistic policies before that would happen.

The main problem if our society is that some people are obsessed with money. They want to keep more of it because they are greedy, they want to make as much as possible, sometimes at the expense of others. Capitalism, the pure kind, promotes obsessive greed towards money. Those that make lots of money are more powerful and have more say then those that do not. If you cannot succeed and produce in a pure Capitalist economy you are left in a gutter.

Socialism on the other hand promotes success but also promotes humble success. Success that is not viewed as a personal victory but a victory for everyone that helped make a business successful: the workers, the management, the CEO, the board, the stock holders, and the customers. It does not promote the kind of all bets are off greed that pure Capitalism does and it also promotes more giving to those that are not as successful.

It does not promote "wealth redistribution". That is Communism, where everyone makes the same pay regardless of job and where no one citizen has more power than the other. Socialism, on the other hand, asks for those that are successful to give some more of their money, which they can bear to part with, to help their fellow Americans that are down on their luck or are facing hard times.

America was built upon a socialist ideology but not one similar to Europe's; we have our own brand of Socialism where all Americans help their fellow Americans by paying taxes that help fund programs and services that the public at large use. This country was built upon the premise that all Americans shall help their countrymen when in time of need.

Obviously we can argue about how far that idea should go but to say we do not practice any Socialism at all is a lie.

@Road and others throwing Gallup and Rasmussen polls around like they are Gospels:

One poll does not amount to a hill of beans, even if the sample size is large enough to be declared as confident unless you poll most of your target pool. Real Clear Politics' averaged score is MUCH more accurate than any one poll from ANYONE is.

That score shows Obama up by 3% He took a hit from the whole ME thing but so did Romney. We have not yet felt the impact of this latest closed-dinner gaffe yet but it should show up in a few days as a few -0.% for Romney if not a whole point drop:

While it is yet too early to be popping champagne corks,, it does seem likely that the release of this bootleg video of Mitt Romney expressing his real opinion of those at the bottom of the economic ladder will be a crystallizing moment: one of those instants that is later viewed as a turning point, like the ad featuring Mike Dukakis riding in a tank, like George H.W. Bush expressing wonder and puzzlement over the miracle of bar-code readers at the supermarket.

He's now caught between his own words and his reputation as a flip-flop artist. If he backs away from his statements on video, he reaffirms his status as a mealy-mouthed, political chameleon. If he sticks to his guns, he reaffirms his image as an infamous 1-percenter, champion of the super rich.

I guess he got tired of shooting himself in the foot ...and decided to aim a bit higher.

      Good thinking, Mitt!!!

      Are you freaking serious?

4,487 killed in Iraq under Bush + 575 = 5062 soldiers dead under Bush

      50,000 plus wounded..

Obama removed close to 250,000 soldiers from Iraq and sent 33,000 to Afghanistan to fight the war we should have been fighting in the first place.. He even said this before he was the democratic nominee for president..

About 80,000 troops in Afghanistan when Obama came in plus 33,000 = 113,000

By the end of this month 66,000...

The media is not hiding anything and those are the real numbers.. You are one crazy fool!!!! or a libertarian?

Who the hell are they polling? Who in the hell has increased optimism about the economy?

The voters who have increased optimism about the economy are the people with their eyes open. The see the 30 straight months of job growth, the resurgence of the stock market, the piles of cash that corporations have on their balance sheets.

Compare America's economic situation today to what it was exactly four years ago today.

If you don't see a huge improvement, you need glasses my friend.

Fox shut down their Forum? Now that's a story I'd like to read. My favorite forum got shut down right after Bush II was elected for a first term - every small newspaper site sold out to the top 10 media giants...and don't forget all the domain names Bush bought so Web sites with any derogatory reference to him wouldn't pop up.

What happened to my favorite pollster - John Zogby, he gets no major props this time around - after his slanted polls from 2008 had McCain winning by a landslide. His poor brother James from LINK TV had to grow up with Johnny liar pants...must be interesting during the Holidaze.

That loud flushing sound you are hearing is Mittens campaign going down the toilet.

I've noticed that all of the RWNJ's writing today aren't defending what Mittens said, they're just pissed at Feisty, cause after all the BS they give her, it turns out SHE'S RIGHT! Keep it up Feisty, I giggle every time one of them writes to you (hey it beats trying to defend their wacko candidate!), cause I know they are about to pee in their pants! Oh well, As most have said all along, Democrats don't need to run Mittens down, because truthfully, I don't think we are capable of coming up with this crap, it's like a Carl Hiaasan novel (and don't think he won't have one out very soon about a certain presidential candidate-do ya here that Carl!!) that writes itself.

ATTENTION ALL CONSERVATIVES-Interesting that Peggy Noonan, the conservative queen of the right wing rag, The Wall Street Journal, just wrote that "It's time for an Intervention with Mitt", ruh-roh, you know things are bad when they start eating their own!

Why did anyone think this lamebrain would be a good Presidential candidate? Oh well - the party of NO has NO candidate worth having. Mitt actually fits them quite well. NO integrity; NO intelligence; NO honor; NO morals; NO nothing!!!!

Read 'em and weep, boys, BA-ZING!

The devil is in the details and when you look at the significant markers in the polling you see that Obama is trending upward and Romney downward.

I know that Obama team is modeling the 04 election and that's good, but I'm predicting the trend will continue upward for the President based on these poll results.

I think Mr. Romney is looking at far more than a mere 47% who plan to vote for the President no matter what.

Oh, and thanks again Mr. Romney for letting us know EXACTLY how you feel about us. I'd say that pretty much takes care of the undecideds. Thanks for the votes.

This poll is junk for reasons already pointed out (heavy on democrats) and almost everytime they come out with a poll we have to go over why it is complete crap. That being said Rassmussen and Gallup have it a very tight race and considering the compete economic disaster we are in combined with many different foreign policy nightmares I'm really suprised Obama is even in this race right now. The media will do everything they can to help which is hard to overcome when you have CBS, NBC, MSNCB, ABC, CNN, New York Times, Ect... all campaigning for you for free. I still believe Romney is the better choice by far and will win but I am suprised it is this close.

Well, Well, Well, the MSM,( Marxist-Socialist Media), continuing their desperate propaganda campaign to try to save Noble leader, (note to the believers , when a poll shows your guy ahead by 5 and you have to oversample by seven, with an even higher percentage of those being the most fanatical of the Obama kool aid drinkers to get there, that is not good news),back in the real world,as protests against the Dear Comrades policies spread worldwide to over thirty countries, and You are constantly lied being told it was because of a 15 second film trailor that was released in June and none of the Muslims thought to protest until September 11, purely by coincidence, and now, We have a dead Ambassador, raped and murdered in our own consulate, AMERICAN SOIL, a justified act of warl! and the Chosen one , after going to bed to get a good nights sleep, before even finding out the fate of Our Ambassador, or seeing if there was anything he could, then jets off to Vegas to show his concern, and tops it off by dissing the Israeli Prime minister , who wanted to meet with him to try to avert a nuclear war with Iran, but noble leader was too busy going on late night television, and partying with Hollywood types to concern himself with such. The same week, Our credit rating is downgraded......again, Our National debt now exceeds 16 trillion dollars, thats more than $50,000 of debt for every man woman and child who lives here, and the number grows higher, setting new records everyday, and the chosen ones solution? why, authorize the printing of more money, (because we do not have more real money, We are broke), which decreases the value of the money We do have. Household income is now lower than it was in the so called great recession, every household has lost over four thousand dollars a year every Year of the Obama Administration and there is no sign of it getting better, twenty plus million people are out of work now, and every month more people stop looking for work ,than find jobs,(another gross undersampling in the above mentioned poll),and yet the Nothing But Communist network puts out this piece of propagandistic trash,to try to fire up their base,(didn't work so well with the feigned outrage over Romney saying the 47 percent who pay no taxes......pay no taxes, and that was supposed to turn rational, thinking, adults away from Romney?, in fact it had the opposite effect).Just a clue for those who voted for Obama last time, just to prove You were not a rascist, and to look cool to your friends, this time, vote for Romney, just to prove You are not stupid, and for the future of Your Children and the Country.

Whoa, a nuanced and pragmatic view of the actual makeup of American ideals! Kudos to you.

Examples of functioning socialism in America:

            1] The US military

2] The Interstate Highway system (although, it needs much more "investment" to move us forward)

3] USDA- much less food related illnesses since that agency started

4] NIH- in partenrship with major US universities, we the peoplehelp formulate long term solutions to hideous diseases such as cancer, MS, AIDS and many more

5] Local school boards, plannig boards, and zoning commitees- most of which are representing their local constituents attain whatever goals they have for their respective communites and agencies.

But, hey, we should all be afraid of words and labels especially since we don't endevour to learn from each other.

Forever Waves of Grain "Under former President George W. Bush, 575 American soldiers died and fewer than 3,000 were wounded in Afghanistan. This means under Obama, at least 1,405 soldiers have died and nearly 15,000 additional soldiers have been wounded, which means 70% of the deaths and nearly 80% of the injuries in Afghanistan have occurred under Obama's watch."

I made a study a couple of years ago, and of the 600,000+ American war deaths over the last 100 years, more than 96% of them were under Democratic Presidents - despite both parties holding the White House about equal amounts of time.

Perhaps Republicans are just a lot more realistic foreign policy that helps in PREVENTING wars, and the Democrats are just a lot more naive, which gets us in wars much too often.

By the way - Obama's weak foreign policy efforts and 'apologizing for America' does not seem to have engendered much support for America from Islamic countries. The situation in the World is far more dangerous under Obama than under Bush.

I made a study a couple of years ago, and of the 600,000+ American war deaths over the last 100 years,

Roy, I remember. You did not make a study. You made a broad observance, one which attempts to equate such wars a WWI, WWII and Korea with Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. It had all the academic grounding of a post card from your aunt.

Under former President George W. Bush, 575 American soldiers died and fewer than 3,000 were wounded in Afghanistan. This means under Obama, at least 1,405 soldiers have died and nearly 15,000 additional soldiers have been wounded, which means 70% of the deaths and nearly 80% of the injuries in Afghanistan have occurred under Obama's watch."

I guess it is not important that over 4,000 American soldiers were dying in an unnecessary war in Iraq, or that the neglect of the Afghanistan war is precisely why we have over 100,000 soldiers there now.

Your logic is about as solid as Mitt Romney's election chances.

Perhaps Republicans are just a lot more realistic foreign policy that helps in PREVENTING wars, and the Democrats are just a lot more naive, which gets us in wars much too often.

Yup, Bush sure avoided the war in Iraq, the same way a drunk driver avoids a bridge abutment.

              Good observance, Roy.

I'm sure too, that had Wendell Willkie won in 1940 the U.S. would have evaded entry into WWII. Of course Willkie's realistic foreign policy would have left Germany in control of most of Western Europe and probably Russia, and Japan in control of most of the Far East.

I'm sure too that Thomas Dewey would have avoided involvement in Korea, too. Of course that would have left the entire Korean peninsula under the control of a series of communist megalomaniacs, with additional millions living in near starving conditions.

              But why worry?

Yup, those Democratic presidents, FDR and Truman did our nation and the world incalculable harm.
One can only imagine how much better off we'd all be if the Nazis were ruling most of Europe and North Africa, or if Communism had absorbed all of Korea.

              Good thinking. ;-)

Study: 'The pursuit of knowledge, as by reading, observation, or research.'

A 'broad observance' requires only pointing out something that could be obvious. Since I had to research how many combat deaths occurred under each President over the last 100 years, it was indeed a 'Study'.

You can make 'excuses' for the tragic results under Democratic Presidents (which Obama has refined to a fine art), but it does not change the facts.

Nice response, Roy. Is the above another "study".

To call you're illogical observances on the wars of the last century, and their relationship to the party of the sitting President, a study in any academic sense is an embarrassment.

Perhaps Republicans are just a lot more realistic foreign policy that helps in PREVENTING wars, and the Democrats are just a lot more naive, which gets us in wars much too often.

Apparently, to you Iraq's fictional WMD is equivalent to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I could laugh, if the subject were not so tragic.

I dont remember the last time a candidate talked down on his own base about handouts and government dependency.

By far the most people (the 47% Romney was talking about) who depend on handouts and government assistance are Senior citizens, White men with a high school degree, ALL the Red States who all happen to be Republicans. I am not sure how he is gonna survive this....A lot of seniors are up in arms right now, and that aint gonna be pretty

Congrats on trying to talk down on Republicans after trying to make a point about how you've never seen such a thing happen before. You do it all the time, thus he's as much your representative as Obama is. Obama, whom I might add, always talks down on people, down to people, and down at people.

And again, a poll of less than 1000 people is not evidence of anyone or anything winning except in a town of 1000 people. Do we even still have those? Maybe where you come from where people only have 1 tooth per 2 eyes. You're a disgrace the memory of Doc Holiday; he at least kept his mouth shut most of the time and only spoke when he had something important to say. Gawd you're an idiot.

This is freaking hilarious- just because Romney said when you rob from Peter to pay Paul (tax the rich) you will always have Paul's vote, the libs are having orgasms thinking their messiah may win. If he wins (and I emphasize IF) just think of the mess he will inherit this time! Just the headlines on BSNBC are pathetically desperate. The one that Obama on Letterman chastizes Romney for dissing the 47% is a joke. Obama has only been a president of the Democrats for 3 1/2 years. Then when pressed by the left for details and Romney says he will tackle China- funny thing, Obama decides to do that yesterday. What a snake in the grass. He is a failure- this will be another shellacking. ha ha ha ha

So I found out today quite by accident, that the Federal Reserve was a 100 year charter that started in 1913 and ends in 2013. So how come neither candidate has spoken about this? how come neither the left wing or right wing media has mentioned this? Whats the plan. does the gov. take back it's currency or does it let the bankers keep it????????????

This says it all... the race is going to be close because neither candidate is honestly good enough to lead this country.

you know something? I actually agree with you. I think that President Obama did NOT have the knowledge, experience and the skill to lead this country WHEN HE WAS ELECTED. he has improved, but still is not the greatest leader, but he is still better than the elitist Romney

Because it's not true. The Federal Reserve is not and never was a chartered bank, it's a system that was created by an act of Congress. It has no time limits, excepting if the Federal Reserve Act is repealed.

@ dman-353357: so many repubs (including Faux Snooze talking heads) say Obama's been the worst President in history. And yet....Romney can't seem to get out of second place, of a two-man race. In fact, he's now losing even more yardage on the play.

I guess repub's are wrong on both accounts: Obama's not the worst, and Romney was really the wrong choice. But that second issue came up during the primaries....when we saw such a low primary turn-out. Repub's didn't like him then, and he can't lift his weight, now. Oh well...maybe in 2016; as they say....third times the charm.

Jack....really that's funny you believe every media article you read don't you? You should be more offended by the fact that the concept of journalistic integrity and unbiased reporting are dead. In this era of information overload, doesn't it make you nervous that this is how so many people will make one of the most important decisions for this country? Doesn't it seem odd that in an election year they have not even pressed our President for a press conference nor do they press him on any issues? It's really scary if you think about it, and when you feed into it you only help it grow.

seeking sanity you are way off. Saychowda's comment was at least accurate when he stated the president hasn't been pressed on issues by reporter's, even CNN admits they've been pretty easy on him. You didn't need to be rude to Saychowda for bringing up an important point about the integrity of our journalists who fail to press a president on important issues simply because they support his candidacy.

LONDON (Reuters) - Twice as many business executives around the world say the global economy will prosper better if incumbent President Barack Obama wins the next election than if his Republican challenger Mitt Romney does, a poll showed on Friday.

There's three kinds of people in the world. Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened. Romney is number 3.

Yeah, what was Romney thinkin' anyhow. Does he really think us 47% want jobs? Heck, me and friends would have to give up staying up all night playing World of Warcraft and other video games. My mom might have to get off disability that she worked so hard to get. I guess we'll have to wait until my dad gets out of jail. Maybe he can get a job. If not, he can always pick up cans along side the road or beg. That seems easy. I know some of the 47% people want jobs, but it's not for me or my friends.

Fact is we ARE better off than 4 years ago - I remember 4 years ago - does anyone else? Romney has proven that he would be an utter disaster on the global scene, shown us how to totally mismanage a convention and a campaign. No wonder Ryan doesn't care about Romney's positions on anything - he's simply happy to have been put on a pedestal for 2016.

What was happening in 2008? The economy was going into the ditch! My house lost over half of its value and my 401 was worthless.

Now we have 30 months of job growth in spite of the unAmerican republicons filibusters, hostage taking, and extortion.

Oh, my 401 got its value back and I cashed it in before the republicons can trash the economy again, and the value of my house is coming back again.

It is more than clear that Obama is planning for the total control and takeover of America via Martial Law. Food, energy, transportation, work, banking, and health: he has it covered.

While Obama is busy pulling executive orders out of the sky to control everything inside our country, he has been issuing executive orders to force us to submit to international regulations instead of our Constitution.

                                THE FORCES OF DARKNESS

There is a war going on in America right now.

                                Its between Demarcates and Republicans.

It has caused a split from the white house, down through the states, through the races, the cultures, co-workers, families, neighbors. It has brewed up hatred through words over the Internet and e mails. It has ruined friendships and brought out the worse in people.

We live in a evil time.

How do I know this! By the very words of prophecy that is told, in the Word of God.

I know my bible very well and I am very familiar with the spiritual understanding of its message. I understand what it means when paul said, " Put on the whole armour of God, that ye my be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

What is happening all over the world right now, in these times that we are living in, was prophesied by the prophets many generations ago. Religions have been shaken up and found out, Governments at war throughout the world, Nations fighting against Nations ( races and cultural differences) and fighting within every country against its own.

The Word tells us that, the love of money is the root to all the evil in the world! We have become so driven by the need of it, that people are killing each other over it. Money is the cause for prisons being filled, the reason given for injustice and the lack there of. Money is why their are people starving in deserts, living in property, and dying in the streets. Countries rich with minerals ( oil) are controlling it for power, causing hardships on those who need it and can't afford it.

                                Power of Darkness

                                Ephesians 6; 12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness of this world,

against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Who did Jesus say this to? Wasn't it the rulers of his time! The Chief priest and captains of the temple, and the elders. He said in Luke 22; 53

When I was with you daily in the Temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: But this is your hour, and the power of darkness. They were the rulers of his time.

Seventy years ago, we know of another ruler who had the power of darkness. Adolf Hitler! The Jewish Nation suffered at his hands. Many lives were lost through a great war. Lives taken from many Nations.

Today, we have the root to all the evil coming against us with the power of the darkness.

Are we going to allow ourselves to be dictated to by those who hold that power, or are we going to stand by a man who has walked a path that Jesus himself would have walked.

A man who walks with us, not hold himself over us. A man who sees money as , giving relief to those who are hungary, homeless and in deep despair. He did the first thing first, and hoped for those receiving would come together as one, to replace it. His plan was the hope of those who had more then they could ever use, would understand how selfish it was for them to expect breaks, while the rest were going without. He expected the very same thing that Jesus has asked, to love one another, to reach out to each other.

But that almighty dollar has crippled those who have it. They say, " We earned it, why should we help those without?" Countries holding back their oil, do it for power! The wealthy hoarding up their riches of this world, do it for power as well!

These are powers of the darkness of the world. The Root to all the evil !

On The Other Side Of This War

is a man who stands up and calls himself a Godly man, yet holds the powers of darkness in his hands. He has all the support of those, like him, having the same power. signs have been given, conversations have been overheard. Those who hold the power of darkness do what they do in the dark. Their motives are evil and will only bring destruction. Their deeds are self-serving and they will never be satisfied. They will create more wars and send your son's ( NOT HIS ) to be killed, all for the sake of more power.

Don't let us become a foolish Nation! Don't allow your pride to cause us to fall! Don't be in Darkness!

                                Hmmm, that's a tough one...

The President is probably an atheist, as best I can make out, and Governor Romney believes that Jesus' Mom wasn't a virgin which besides being one of the fundamental axioms of Christianity, is sort of insulting, and believes that Jesus appeared to the native Americans on this continent.

I think Jesus might just be one of those undecideds...who could blame him...

                                Wiki-

The synoptic gospels state that hostile questioners tried to trap Jesus into taking an explicit and dangerous stand on whether Jews should or should not pay taxes to the Roman authorities. The accounts in Matthew and Mark say that the questioners were Pharisees and Herodians, while Luke says only that they were "spies" sent by "teachers of the law and the chief priests".

They anticipated that Jesus would oppose the tax, as their purpose was "to hand him over to the power and authority of the governor" (Luke 20:20). The governor was Pilate, and he was the man responsible for the collecting of taxes in Roman Judea. At first the questioners flattered Jesus by praising his integrity, impartiality, and devotion to truth. Then they asked him whether or not it is right for Jews to pay the taxes demanded by Caesar. In the Gospel of Mark (12:15) the additional, provocative question is asked, "Should we pay or shouldn't we?" Jesus first called them hypocrites, and then asked one of them to produce a Roman coin that would be suitable for paying Caesar's tax. One of them showed him a Roman coin, and he asked them whose name and inscription were on it. They answered, "Caesar's," and he responded

"Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's"

The questioners were impressed (Matthew 22:22 states that they "marvelled", ἐθαύμασαν) and satisfied with the answer, they went away.

Romney is now releasing a video of Obama in 1998 -

A 1998 audiotape showing future president Barack Obama calling for progressives to “trick” the public into allowing economic redistribution. In that speech, Obama also used some of the same language he’s adopted for the 2012 campaign.

Amid public distrust, “the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution? — because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make to make sure everybody has got a shot,” Obama told a Loyola University audience in October 1998.

Since his ascent to the White House, he has followed a strategy of “pooling” taxpayer dollars into projects, including green-tech programs and cheap mortgages, that promote redistribution, while hiding the costs and risks.

exactly why Jesus had no time. if he had refused he would have been jailed (likely flogged). You have to understand the dynamics, Pilate hated the jews (as well as the Praetorian Prefect Sejanus and interim ruler) and he would have used Jesus to incite violence amongst them. This backfired. Pilate was forced to crucify Jesus down the road but I'll save that discussion for later.

                                Jennifer,

Jesus had nothing to do with the government or the religious leaders. The religious leaders are no different than government leaders. They make a public example of what they are doing to gain prestige, not because they care.

His way was for the individual to step forward, not the government. All that giving to people promoted to politicians is about them getting their position. They don't really care about you or me, just the big salary, the perks, the retirement, the speaking fees, the honor of people worshipping them, and the power of the office.

When did Jesus give a phone number to a government agency to get help for someone? I can't seem to find this an I've been through the entire Bible many times, and most of the books dozens of times.

When did the Apostles do that? When did Jesus command that government should raise taxes to give the money to other people?

When did Jesus say sell everything you have, give it to the poor and go work for the government?

Jesus said, give unto Ceasar, what is Ceasar's and to God what is God's.

Linda, the reason they where able to see this, is because they understood the evil of greed. people are not evil. they are god's children. Some people are evil and their names are Morgan, Rockefeller, DuPont, Bush, Rothschild etc. They want to de-populate the world. they turn brother against brother. they start wars and feed hate instead of children. there is an answer. it is the inherent goodness that god placed in mankind. We just have to bring it out in our brothers and sisters.

For starters, that nasty 'ol liberal media had the nerve to report on Romney's factually incorrect statement on the Libya tragedy. Oh wait.. they covered it because HE SENT IT TO THEM! And gee, why would a news organization want to play a videotape of a major presidential candidate insulting half of the country's voters!

Just MSNBC all week has centered around Romney's perceived mistakes...

                                "Perceived Mistakes"?

"The overall impression of Romney at this event is of someone who overheard some conservative cocktail chatter and maybe read a conservative blog or two, and is thoughtlessly repeating back what he heard and read." - Rich Lowry, National Review

"Who are these freeloaders? Is it the Iraq war veteran who goes to the VA? Is it the student getting a loan to go to college? Is it the retiree on Social Security or Medicare? ... The people who receive the disproportionate share of government spending are not big-government lovers. They are Republicans. They are senior citizens. They are white men with high school degrees." - David Brooks, New York Times

"It remains important for the country that Romney wins in November (unless he chooses to step down and we get the Ryan-Rubio ticket we deserve). But that shouldn't blind us to the fact that Romney's comments...are stupid and arrogant." - Bill Kristol, The Weekly Standard

"I found the presser not horrible, which is about as much praise as I can muster right now." - Daniel Foster, National Review

“I disagree with Gov. Romney’s insinuation that 47 percent of Americans believe they are victims who must depend on the government for their care. ... I know that the vast majority of those who rely on government are not in that situation because they want to be.” - Linda McMahon, GOP Candidate for US Senate in Connecticut

"He said he has a terrific campaign. Actually he doesn't. He says that the campaign workers are working well together. Well, actually, no, they're not working well together. And that his campaign's going in the right direction. No, it's not. And this is not being said by liberals...these are conservatives. Savannah, I'm going to go put a bag over my head now, so I will talk to you soon." - Joe Scarborough, Host of Morning Joe and former GOP Congressman from Florida

If these are "perceived mistakes", I just gave you quotes from 6 Conservative Voices who perceived those mistakes with no trouble whatsoever...but, please, go on believing that there is no problem here.

I've seen very few republican polls this year. About 3/4's of the polls are by companies or sponsored by Democrat held entities. Their are a couple of bi-partisan polling groups like Purple strategies, and a few that are "independent" like Rasmussen, Gallup, and Survey USA.

Ed, being you brought up North Africa and the Mid East, your god (little g) Barry was busy flying to Las Vegas, then Letterman where he "fielded" tough hardball (o yeah) scripted questions from letterman, then he's going dancing with Beyonce while snubbing the Prime Minister of Israel which happens to be the "only" true ally we have in the middle east. Man what a great leader we have. He is the poorest excuse we have ever had for a president.

check how your muslim president spends his time, over 900 executive orders

                                  * Executive Order 10990 allows the Government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

                                  * Executive Order 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

                                  * Executive Order 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels, and minerals.

LONDON (Reuters) - Twice as many business executives around the world say the global economy will prosper better if incumbent President Barack Obama wins the next election than if his Republican challenger Mitt Romney does, a poll showed on Friday.

Actually if you Google it you'll find the article. It goes on to say "Democrat Obama was chosen by 42.7 percent in the 1,700 respondent poll, compared with 20.5 percent for Romney. The rest said "neither"." It's said that sometimes when a delusion is challenged the delusional person can get violent. Your post seems proof of that.

Probably the only president to get re-elected with an approval rating under 45% with unemployment over 8%, gas doubling in price per gallon and a deficit 4 times larger trhan when he took office.

We all see what Romney thinks of disabled American Vets, what he thinks about your grandmother who draws social security and medicare, what he thinks of the poor and unemployed, the disabled, and let us not forget all those public servants who fight fires, teach school and protect against crime.

This is also a reflection of what he thinks of the 62% red state residents that are also on the dole (as he so succinctly states).

Actually if you read the article and process all the information and facts, Romney never derides vets, seniors, the poor, unemployed, or disabled. He correctly states that there are people who take advantage of welfare, don't pay taxes, and thus will never respond to an economic discussion regarding tax reform. I am so sorry that you chose to ignore the facts and put your liberal beer goggles on, but sadly, this is what the electorate is and has been talking about for a long time. Thankfully someone finally told the truth.

As for red and blue states, they do change quite a bit you know. ie: Virginia, North Carolina, Nevada, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Colorado...to name a few. Try reading, then do some fact checking before you run your ignorant liberal mouth.

While Obama is busy pulling executive orders out of the sky to control everything inside our country, he has been issuing executive orders to force us to submit to international regulations instead of our Constitution.

Yes, just make sure Romney doesn't take anything with him that he does not own, he will be sent packing, and you are also right about him being an idiot.

George Romney released 12 years worth of tax returns to the American people when he ran for president.

Since then, presidential candidates -- Republicans and Democrats -- have followed his lead and released multiple tax records for public scrutiny.

                                        All presidential candidates, except one.

Mitt Romney has only released one year of records after persistent pressure.
It raises the question: What does Mitt Romney have to hide?

HE IS HIDING HIS THIEVERY FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT'S WHAT!

Main stream media SUCKS! Slander & propaganda is all they can muster up! Report on the real issue of the Fed. Reserve, Big business, Bilderburg, Big banking RULING this country!!

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks…will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered…. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. – Thomas Jefferson

I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men. -Woodrow Wilson

That is an interesting take about his not producing his tax returns.

I would also think a bishop in the the church should lead by example abouut tithing.

A five year old could debate Romney and make him sound like an idiot.

You sure love to call people names because you have nothing of real substance to say. You obviously will be voting against your own best interests and don't even know it. (Unless you are the 1%) Do some real research for once instead of listening to the hatemongers and prejudice people of this world. They are a dying breed!

President Obama is appreciated for his integrity, care and concern for the poor and middle class and relentless drive to make this U.S. a better place for ALL people, not just a few. And he managed to do it with complete obstruction by the Republicans this last two years.

Obama is destroying the middle class. America has the highest level of poverty in over 40 years. Who do you think is becoming impoverished?

My neighbors are saying the reason we are seeing the President in so many anti-Romney ads is because the President is behind in the real polls. My neighbors are also mad that the President didn't beef up security in Libya and the ambassador died because he was not attending his briefings but out campaigning. that part most people have seen on the news. Its really sad.

The president is up in the polls and will win the overall national vote. However, the TeaGOP has public and private campaigns. We heard a bit of their private beliefs from Mittens sales routine. The GOPers never trusted mittens, and they had a point. Lucky for them the back up plan is still going strong: the one that suppresses the vote in the largest democratic strong holds. The GOP hates Mittens, but as long as he's not Obama, he'll do!

Your ABO will only get you so far. When those people go into the voting booth , they might just vote for Gary Johnson or another third party candidate. It only takes about 5-8 % of those votes to sink Romney in many battleground states.

Romney"s ABO base is not a sure thing.

Just remember Florida and the percentage that voted for Ralph Nader. It was the difference for Gore losing, and sent it to the SCOTUS.

Romney is no angel, but neither is Obama. Obama has demonstrated that fact over the past 4 years. We need to try someone else over the next 4 years to demonstrate more effective leadership for our country, or we will drown!! And if that new individual demonstrates that he is ineffective, we need to boot him out in 4 years, and start all over again!

What we really need is to give Obama a real congress with goals other than defeating Obama and a higher approval rating than 10%.

                                          @ScommaG,

Obama and Romney stand for the same things. They are two sides of the SAME coin, with the same masters flipping it.

They both believe in big government and they both have a track record of being big spenders while in office.

Neither candidate supports immediately balancing the federal budget

They both support the Western backed terrorists in Syria against the elected President Assad.

Both of them support attacking Iran.

                                          Both support big pharma.

Both support the FDA which banned natural cures in favor of the pharmaceutical companies that profit from our illnesses.

Both candidates plan to continue running up more government debt even though the U.S. government is already 16 Trillion dollars in debt.

Both candidates believe that the president has the power to take the country to war without getting the approval of the US Congress.

Both want to persecute people who need medical cannabis and who use it legally according to state laws.

They both have a horrible record when it comes to job creation.

Like Obama, Romney also plans to add "signing statements" (think NDAA) to bills when he signs them into law.

Both candidates have been pro-abortion most of their careers.

Both candidates "flip flop" on political agendas.

Both candidates have a history of nominating extremely liberal judges.

They both believe that a "two state solution" will bring lasting peace between the Palestinians and Israel.

Both candidates have a very long record of supporting strict gun control measures.

Mitt Romney has said that he will support a "cap and trade" carbon tax scheme (like the one Barack Obama wants) as long as long as the entire globe goes along with it (already saying he does not support the USA - just like Obama).

Neither candidate has any military experience. This is the first time that this has happened in a U.S. election since 1944.

Both candidates are extremely soft on illegal immigration.

They both accuse each other of shipping jobs out of the country and both of them are right.

They both support the job-killing "free trade" agenda.

Both candidates support the practice of "extraordinary rendition.

Barack Obama has not closed Guantanamo Bay like he promised to do (another promise broken), and Mitt Romney actually wants to double the number of prisoners held there.

Both candidates believe that American citizens suspected of being terrorists can be killed by the president without a trial.

Obama and Romney both believe that the federal government should be able to indefinitely detain American citizens.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both supported the renewal of the USA PATRIOT Act.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney both supported the NDAA.

Both believe that the TSA is doing a great job and should be spread out on our roadways also, not just in airports, bus stations, and train stations.

Both candidates are "open" to the idea of imposing a Value Added Tax on the American people.

Both candidates want to keep personal income tax rates at the exact same levels for the vast majority of Americans.

Wall Street absolutely showers both candidates with campaign contributions.

Romney was the one who developed the plan that Obamacare was later based on.

Both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney fully support the Federal Reserve.

Both candidates are against a full audit of the Federal Reserve.

Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are both on record as saying that the president should not question the "independence" of the Federal Reserve.

Both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney fully support the Federal Reserve.

Romney says that Obama's bailout of the auto industry was his idea.

Mitt Romney supported Barack Obama's "economic stimulus" packages.

                                          Romney both supported TARP.

It is far easier to list what they differ on then what they stand together on ... there are lots more that they both support.

Spend some time looking at the issues and find out the many, many things Obama has done for this country, before you criticize. Just for starters: 1) Osama Bin Laden is gone forever! 2) Pulled out all Iraqi troops, and winding down Afghanistan 3) Saved the U.S. Auto Industry 4) Took student loans away from banks and lowered interest rates 5) Gave over 18 tax cuts to small business 6) Tax cuts to the middle class 7) Got rid of 'don't ask, don't tell' 8) Healthcare for all, regardless of age, condition or ability to pay 9) Slow, but steady job increase 10) Prevented a major depression in this country (TARP funds all paid back) The list goes on and on. You want Romney? Social Security to be privatized? Medicare to no longer be guaranteed to grandma and disabled Veterans? No more tax cuts to the ultra rich forever?

And what about the ambassador that was killed in Libya? Was this 'poll' taken before or after 9/11/2012? We already know it was slanted 60% democrat in its sampling and questions.

I wonder what it's going to be now that Obama's failure in foreign affairs is being compared to Carter'd failures due to the Iran hostage crisis?

One would think a 5 point lead for a sitting incumbent is not so good. Keep an eye on the following states, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia as these states are vital for both candidates. While Bush in 2004 had similar #'s he had more impressive leads in the states mentioned with exception of Ohio. Romney could win without winning Ohio and for the 1st time for a GOP candidate winning the White House in a # of years due to Ryan's popularity around his home state. This election polling has had its up s and down for ROmeny though he has never really got over the hump he is still within striking distance of the sitting incumbent for an upset ala Ronad Reagan in 1980. I dont think a sitting president with these kind of employment #'s has been re elected and with the economy in a slump that is only going to get worse. Folks will be shocked and awe by the cost of health insurance thuse unable to get that new car, go out to eat as often and forced to cut back on holiday shopping. I'm calling for Obama to win 51 to 46 with a few points going to a Ron Paul write in campaign with a low turnout.Romney will be the lucky one as the slumping economy will force Obama's #'s down and to have an even weaker 2nd term. Jindal,Christie,Ryan and West will be the winners as long as they stick to their guns but eaiser said then done for any GOP or Dem as the wallets get fatter from the special interest groups and we lose out in the end more and more each year.

please continue living in this Democrat dream world and grow complacent

That's the problem with all of the WRNJs .... Democrats NEVER grow complacent and are actually known as the PROGRESSIVE party. Look it up, the word has more than one syllable ...

Obama/Biden - they care about 100% of this country!

Whats the Democrat plan to pay off the national Debt?

How about saving Medicare since it runs out of money by 2024?

How do you feel about the Fed holding 66% of the countries Debt?

How will Democrats deal with the increase in food prices and gasoline.

How will the Democrats provide more jobs in the private sector without increasing the national debt?

LightRay - It's going to be funny isn't it? Watching all the liberals stumbling into the welfare office crying after election day, wondering "what went wrong" because the MSNBC spew actually made them think they had a chance.

Like the 2010 midterms and Walker recall all over again. If only they had the ability to learn.

We are pulling out of Afghanistan and while you sit on your fat butts and smirk, your candidate is proposing yet another war.

STFU already!!! Go glom onto your LOSER and swoon at his no-plan feet. You both must be part of the 47%!

Just be part of the Change in November because Americans don't want to go FORWARD.........Off A Cliff. We don't need another 4 years of record high unemployment and letting Ambassadors get killed because security briefings were missed. Americans are fed up with this incompetent that is in office and doesn't have a clue how to fix the economy.
