GOP's Latina problem

NBC Latino: "A new impreMedia/Latino Decisions tracking poll shows Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has a really big gender gap issue when it comes to Latina voters. According to the poll, Latina voters favor President Obama over Mitt Romney by a 53 point margin – 74 percent to 21 percent. What is more, 88 percent of Latinas say they are certain to vote in November. What is driving these numbers might be answered by one of the key questions of the poll. When asked which party could be more trusted to make the right decisions on issues of concern to women, almost eight out of ten Latinas (78 percent) said the Democrats could be more trusted, versus 13 percent who favored the Republican party. ...

"Hispanic women voters are not just favoring the Democratic candidate; they are favoring the Democratic party. While Romney’s favorability is only 22 percent among Latinas, it is even less for Republicans in Congress – only 20 favorability among Hispanic women."

Personally, I loved Santorum's comment. "We'll never get the smart people." What more needs to be said? Even the Republicans think that only stupid people will vote for them. Of course, now that Romney has stated that the 47% who need subsidies are not worth caring about, his attitudes toward the working poor are pretty well defined. So the poor guy working two minimum wage jobs isn't worth caring about? He's putting in seventy or eighty hours of work every week and he still can't get health care for his family. He still can't afford to put groceries on the table for his kids. Shouldn't we worry about someone like that? He is obviously willing to work hard. Why not bring manufacturing back to the US and get him a job that pays him enough money to live? You know, like the job he used to have before it was outsourced to China, with tax credits for the corporations doing the outsourcing.

Hola, I knew Mitt Romney was not qualified to address the Hispanic population without insulting them.

Most of us Latinas were not born with rich parents. My father had a government job, Supervisor at the Welfare Department and he was the first in our family to get a college education. We were and still are so proud of him.

When I was a child I saw a lot of hungry children in my home because if the welfare department did not help them, my father did. He did not make much money but what he had he shared with others less fortunate than he.

Many times hungry children would sleep at our modest house if they had no where else to sleep that night. He would give his own food destined for his mouth to others. I know I was the recipient of that food when money ran short. My father taught me to share any excess I had with others, a lesson I will never forget.

How many hungry children sleep in the Romney's lavish home? How much of his own food does Mitt Romney share with hungry children?

200+ million dollars would feed a lot of hungry kids Mitt. I think you are more likely to create hungry kids and lay off their parents and outsource jobs than you are to help feed hungry and help the sick.

It surprises me that you are so stingy, Mitt Romney, you do not even want us (less affluent but not as stingy as you) help the hungry children, the elderly, and the sick with our tax dollars while you try to avoid paying taxes.

I wish you could meet my dad but he passed away when I was seventeen and then I, a Latina, had to make it on my own. I stopped crying and feeling sorry for myself, squared my shoulders and received a little government help with grants and loans to get a 4 year degree in business, just like my dad. I now own my own business and I don't look for tax loopholes, I look for ways to help others.

BTW I pay over 30% of my income in taxes. I am not ashamed to show MY tax returns.

They vote the same way as they did in Mexico. That's why it is what it is!

My family has been in the United States since it WAS part of Mexico, slightly after Cortez conquered Mexico city.

              I always vote Democratic.

We have been voting for democrats in this great country for generations.

Given what Republicans present as candidates it is clear why we do.
