Romney lives in an alternate Universe...on a distant plane from reality, it seems.

All the privilege has gone to your head, when you can't relate to the tremendous upheaval that has gone on in the Middle East. Egyptians are pro-America, but the military factions of all kinds are still there making mischief.

The trouble there was a reponse to a terrible islamaphobic video. Nothing to do with this Administration, or the United States President.

But during an ordeal for so many, Mitt Romney can only think of his own hide. Epic, epic Fail.

We had an Arab spring, welcome to the Arab winter.

Note that the Muslim brotherhood is calling for the march and protest today against Obama's America. Note that it is against AMERICAS clown not the clown who produced the film.

That's the group that was sending us condolences on one hand and with the other hand are stoking the flames.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/14/opinion/our-condolences-the-muslim-brotherhood-says.html

It's also the same group the right was fuming about a few months ago while the administration was dismissing their objections that they were a fundamentalist group. Looks like the right was right...again!

Whether or not you support Israel, they have been an ally for the better part of a century. Now the administration invites the Muslim Brotherhood president of Egypt to meet with him while dismissing Netanyahu last week as being "too busy".

A nightmare they created. Obama built that! He's the one that has encouraged the Muslim Brotherhood and we support them by giving them Billions of dollars each year.

Obama seems to be under the belief that radical Muslims want to be our friends. How well is that working? Liberals will believe everything Obama says and support him even if he's the one causing the problems.

How well is that diplomacy liberals so strongly tout Obama for working out? Seems the middle east has a differing opinion of the US than liberals. Well actually it's pretty much the same... Liberals hate this country too.

I disagree. It is a smokescreen he was passing along to the American public. Not all America has fallen for it. Of course Obama's supporters believe everything he says and does... Those of us with a more skeptical view, first question, then formulate our belief on his actions. Liberals can't see it because they have some sort of admiration for Obama that they can't get past. I have my theories on why liberals put so much faith in Obama, but that's a discussion for another day.

Dennis, if our intelligence is doing their job, they should have seen this coming from a mile away. Who dropped the ball on this one? Why are 4 of our diplomatic corps dead? How come no outrage about that? All you can do is sit here and praise Obama for the fine job he's doing... well WAKE up! He's not doing a fine job. You liberals are something else. You don't view what's happening in any light of truth. You rather view it as something the right wing is doing because it makes you feel all comfortable inside. Well let's tear this down a bit. First question... who's running this country? That makes who responsible for it? Ohhhh it's Obama... and somehow he let the intelligence slip on the murder of 4 of our diplomatic corps. Liberals will defend him anyway... but let it be Bush, or some other republican and how harsh will the comments be for that individual... giving Obama a pass at every turn.

I hear absolutely NO outrage at the murder of our people... All I hear is Obama apologists working their hardest to make excuses for Obama. Well, the shoe is on the other foot now... Obama is in charge and nothing from the left about the unrest in the middle east where they are chanting once again... "Death to America!!!" How long before they hold our people hostages again... or kill them outright? Jimmy Carter II.

Along with that, they, in their touchy feely world actually think that unbridled multiculturalism works. I am a Liberal Progressive….

I would remind conservatives like Brianb and Chic that neither the USA nor President Obama did one single thing for Egypt's Arab Spring to take place; no boots on the ground; no planes in the air; no UN involvement and not even a no-fly zone. It was the Egyptian people who demanded Mubarek step down. All the Obama administration did was suggest he do what his people demanded. The right is always preaching democracy for the people in the Middle East and then they yell and throw tantrums when those people choose someone they don't like. I'd remind you that Bush urged free elections in Palestine; they chose what we consider anti-American leaders. Have you forgotten or do you simply choose to ignore it?

Maybe you don't pay too much attention to what he says Jody, but if and when I can post links here, I would show you several dozen youtube videos where he not only endorses the Muslim Brotherhood, he encourages them. Amy, Jody others good rebuttals...but it seems there is no reasoning with the "posters on the other side of the aisle." The most outrageous claim we hate America, what reality are they living in?

For the record Obama supported secular governments in Egypt not the Muslim Brotherhood, although they could not get involved in rigging an election like apparently the right wanted them to. The US supported El Baredi and or secular professionals to win not the brotherhood. The will of the people was heard in Egypt and they chose the brotherhood, just like Palestinians chose Hamas over Fatah. In both instances it was not our group or choice as in the past there are no "Strong men/dictators" to bribe to supress their own people. After the elections you have to work with who is in place Muslim Brotherhood, Obama has kept ties with Egypt for the sake of stability in the region, to ensure that Egypt keeps relations with Israel. As seen recently Obama scolded their president to make sure they upheld security for our diplomats.

As one of my earlier posts noted, the attacks were not all about the movie it was only used as an excuse to mobilize, rally and incite people. Straw that broke the camels back on top of a wide range of other issues. However, there is no excuse, none, for those crazed people who took part in the attacks to do what they did. It is the ultimate hypocrisy for them to protest about ill treatment of their prophet and then riot and kill. What the right does not understand is that forces outside the administration's control, idiots making a movie, would light a match on Sept. 11.

You seem to think that precautions weren't taken. The Cairo statement you all scream about was meant to placate and lessen the protests to come after the movie was publicized by the preacher and the director. Perhaps questions can be asked about more security, but let me ask you how an embassy can withstand a massed attack of hundreds, thousands, several thousands of people (some armed) rushing the gates all at once? In Egypt initially the riot police stood aside. Now after Obama's talk with their leader the riot police are helping to protect our embassy.

This is a very fluid and difficult situation and Obama is working diplomatic angles you may not even know about. Military actions for reinforcements are under way as well. It is like you are happy that this is happy merely because it is on Obama's watch. What Romney did was calculating, amateurish and shrill. But what you people are doing hoping for Obama's failure and cheering on more strife in the region is Un-American.

How many brave soldiers did we lose in Iraq? That certainly never stopped Republicans or Democrats to say they had a good week or for that matter me or you.

While it is very tragic to lose 4 brave men in Libya, it does not mean that every discussion or statement has to revolve around their deaths. Life goes on, we will mourn our dead and continue our talking.

Obama did have a very good week in the polls, in the way he coolly handled this crisis, and in my opinion, in the choice of the strategy he is implementing.

Romney, on the other hand, had a very bad week. He showed that he does not have the patience to confirm the facts before issuing condemnations for political gain. Impatience can cause a lot of trouble with shoot from the hip strategies failing because they were not thoroughly considered and/or they were based on early info later found to be false.

Information needs to be confirmed, since it changes with every update in a fast -breaking story. It's almost as if Romney and his advisers have never followed a fast breaking crisis develop on CNN or some other 24 hour news station and see how it takes awhile for an accurate timeline to develop. Some witnesses are better than others. The latest update might correct an earlier update. As time passes, the accuracy of the story improves. News junkies know this because they have spent hours observing it.

I am simply amazed at the complete lack of judgment and caution shown by the Romney team in this Mid East crisis' early hours. And his followup discussions on his foreign policy, which is very aggressive in the use of American power, only served to scare me when I thought of this guy being Commander-in-Chief.

Bad judgment and vast power make a deadly combination, one bad for America, and bad for the world.

Romney, not ready for prime time.

    Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL

This has been the best week for Team Obama since the election started in earnest!

It is only going to get better from now until election day...

    Feisty, MYTH is running scared.

    Rocco-2976776

Yep, Nothing like an US Ambassador getting killed ,US Embassies being raided with American flags being replaced with Islamic flags over soveriegn US territory for Dumbfux to call it a good week for Obama.

    Rocco,

You are wrong. Even Senator John McCain strayed away from the FOX NOISE Plantation when Sean Hanctimony tried to bait Senator McCain into Obama Bashing.

Hand Jive Sean KKKannity: “I am beyond outraged, angry, Senator… We apologize to them… Why are we giving $2 billion taxpayer dollars to Egypt?”

MCCAIN: It was you and people on Fox that said in Libya, "We didn't know who they were and let's not help these people." They had an election and they elected moderates. They rejected Islamists. And yes, there are al-Qaeda factors and there are extremists in Libya today, but the Libyan people are friends of ours, and they support us, and they support democracy. So you were wrong about -- so you were wrong about Libya.

    http://mediamatters.org/blog/2012/09/14/fox-news-called-out-again-for-fearmongering-on/189895

BTW: How come FOX NOISE removed the video where Senator McCain made KKKanity look like the stupid fool he is; but left the dumba** lipsmaking Palin foreign idiotic opinion?

Yes, I'm going to quote Fox. Like it or not. The left quotes NBC and proudly so why, shouldn't I quote FOX?

Speculation about the true root of the attack grew following a report in Britain's Independent claiming officials believe the attack was planned, that the State Department may have had warnings in advance and that sensitive documents have since gone missing from the Benghazi consulate.

The Obama administration pushed back on the report.

Look for Romney to suggest that all of the violence in the Middle East is Obama's fault. What he will not do is state how a more jingoist approach (his approach) would have prevented this. Does he think we could have kept the anger in the Arab population bottled up forever? Does he think that we could have propped up the corrupt regimes that were toppled forever? The truth is that several sores have been lanced in the Middle East. They were going to explode sooner or later. We should concentrate on stopping or killing the people that directly hurt us. Otherwise, we need to stay silent and just protect our people. If we have to withdraw from some embassies, then we should withdraw. We have done that before. In fact, when our money and our NGO's withdraw, the new governments will perhaps figure out that we are a face for good and that they do need us. But we can't fight wars against all of these countries. We just need to keep eliminating the terrorists that directly threaten us.

Beyond Democrat, well said. Listening last night to the reporters who are actually on the ground over there like the amazing Richard Engel - who has spent years covering the Middle East, often risking his own life - the one thing I heard over and over was that this is not just about a stupid film and it's not something that's going to be solved overnight. There are internal issues and resentments and injustices that have been bottled up for too long, and people over there are learning that simply changing governments does not automatically guarantee social progress or prosperity. We have only to look at our own history to see proof that democracy is a long and painful process. You're right - not only don't we have the resources to fight wars in all these countries, it's not our job. Our war should be against terrorism and specific targets - not countries. President Obama realizes this, and I for one feel fortunate to have his calm judgement leading us at this difficult time.

The middle east will kill in the name of Islam, because they believe it will get them to "heaven". Instead of using tear gas, they should spray pigs blood to keep them back. They would NEVER try storming an embassy if they believed they would be sprayed with pigs blood, that is the WORST thing that they believe could happen to them. go figure......

I enjoyed this piece on CNN's web site...

My Take: A deadly link between Islamic and anti-Islamic extremists

Our world is not divided first and foremost along religious or national lines, into Muslims and Christians and Hindus or Israelis and Americans and Egyptians.

Neither is it divided into secularists and people of faith - the New Atheists and partisans of old-time religion.

The real “red line” in the modern world divides the certain from the uncertain. And in the tragic events of recent days, those who produced and distributed this hateful movie stand on the same side of this line as the killers of innocents in Libya and Egypt.

Both groups are possessed by the unholy spirit of “blind certainty,” unacquainted with both the complexity and contradictions of life on Earth and the “cloud of unknowing” that hovers over every major religion.

The great religious thinkers in Judaism, Christianity and Islam always knew enough to know that they did not know everything.

They knew the difference between the eternal decrees of the God of Abraham and the all-too-flawed thoughts of ordinary people. They knew, in short, that they are not God, who alone is charged with creating and destroying the world and discriminating along the way between the real and the illusory.

The killers in Libya have forgotten that. So have the not-so-innocent producers and distributors of "Innocence of Islam."

      Noid -

Interesting piece - "Both groups are possessed by the unholy spirit of "blind certainty," unacquainted with both the complexity and contradictions of life on Earth". That kind of says it all. Life is indeed full of complexity and contradictions, and it's very often the blind certainty that causes us so much grief. As someone who was once an every-Sunday-singing-in-the-choir Lutheran and is now a born-again atheist, if there is one thing that I am absolutely certain of in this life, it's that there is nothing that is absolutely certain. It keeps my heart and mind open, and I find a certain degree of faith in that, perversely enough.

It's also a statement that could apply as easily to our conversations here. If we weren't all so stuck on our respective "blind certainties", maybe we could learn how to listen to each other more and just think what we could accomplish then.

It also reminds me of a song from "The King and I", in which the king - a Buddhist - says much the same thing:

"There are times I almost think
Nobody sure of what he absolutely know.
      Everybody find confusion
In conclusion he concluded long ago
And it puzzle me to learn
That tho' a man may be in doubt of what he know,
      Very quickly he will fight...
He'll fight to prove that what he does not know is so!

Oh-h-h-h-h-h Sometimes I think that people going mad!
Ah-h-h-h-h-h! Sometimes I think that people not so bad!

But no matter what I think I must go on living life.
As leader of my kingdom I must go forth,
Be father to my children and husband to each wife
      Etcetera, etcetera, and so forth.
If my Lord in Heaven Buddha, show the way!
Everyday I try to live another day. If my Lord in Heaven Buddha, show the way!
Everyday I do my best for one-more day!

      [Spoken] But...Is a puzzlement!"

Then-Senator Barack Obama makes the case for an Obama Presidency on November 21, 2007 by saying he is uniquely qualified to bring stability to America's relationships in the Muslim world because he lived in an Islamic country during his youth and his half-sister is Muslim.

OMG, he was referring to his "otherness" and "foreignness" ! Is Chris Matthews foaming at the mouth? According to libs, any criticism of Obama today is a silent dog whistle of racism, silently accusing Obama of Muslim connections...

Yet here is candidate Obama highlighting this background as a positive for being President. The NY Times got on board with this narrative as well...

How's that working out for the country? Whatever his background is, he is a failure as President.

The Obama Administration is now haplessly defending its foreign policy failures by claiming radical Muslims are rioting because of some obscure Internet video, and not against the United States!

You're dealing with people who actually think Obama's first (and hopefully his only) term was a "success," in spite of; higher unemployment, the downgrading of The United State's international credit rating, increased deficits, pornographic gasoline prices, costlier health-care premiums, and the slowest & weakest economic "recovery" since the great depression.

It's as if these people havbe been brainwashed, and I can only deduce that a good many of his supporters actually believe they're going to get "free stuff" if we put him back in office.

What a pantload of mainstream media bias....

If Obama doesnt handle the crisis properly, it is an opening for Romney? You really expect us to believe that?

The mainstream media and NBC is in the freaking tank for Obama... there is no opening for Romney in the mainstream media, never has been , never will be.

The voters will have to discount the NBC Obama shills and make up their own mind about Obama failures.

Whine, whine, whine. How do you explain the FOX News poll? I admit it is amusing to watch conservatives moan and groan about NBC (when it isn't going Mitt's way but were fine when it was) yet say nothing about the "in-the-tank" for Romney and any republican spewed daily on FOX.

Yeah, right, hire Mitt Romney who insulted all of Britain while attending the Olympics; then proceeded to Israel and managed to insult the Palestinians; and that was after insulting Russia and China earlier this year. Yeah, right, hire Mitt Romney.

Romney doesn't have a clue about foreign affairs....closest he has come is riding his bike around France while dodging the military....oh ya, and his "foreign tour" this year that he totally botched, insulting each country he went to.

Obama's amateur, fumbling attempts at foreign affairs have been an embarrassment to himself and to the US.

First, he publicly and loudly affirmed his support for a Palestinian state, even going so far as to demand that Israel should return to their pre-1967 borders! This had the predictable effect of encouraging the Palestinians to seek their own separate state. Then, he had to order his Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, to veto any UN resolution that might create an actual Palestinian state, in order to salvage the Jewish vote.

Most presidents (not all) have had sense enough to be consistent in the messages they send to the international community. Reversals, like Obama's, only create an atmosphere of uncertainty and distrust. One can easily imagine how Obama's blundering could have started a violent increase in Middle East hostilities.

          Kannin,

[ … even going so far as to demand that Israel should return to their pre-1967 borders!]

There you go again cherry picking. Now please finish the statement … including mutually agreed swaps.

That statement is the very same made by every President for decades.

Now tell me Repubs, what foreign policies of Bush caused those attacks?

Any American that does not stand with our American Values at this juncture or anytime, cannot call themselves patriotic. There are good times and there are bad times, through it all in our country we have for the most part walked this road together.

We stood on the side of freedom during the Arab Spring and we stand on the side of Freedom now.

Those in media or elsewhere attempting to blame this uprising on that, it's something clearly wrong with them.

This issue is not political. I and many others thank God for those four Americans who gave their lives for our Freedom that we hold so dear. Why is the cost of Freedom so hard for a few in our country to understand.

            When doubt make it political.

Today I cried along with many of my fellow Americans as I watched the Home-Going of 4 Brave Americans, while some where shouting, and making noise about how great America is for the Kind of Free Speech that Movie produced. Clearly something is wrong with them.

Free Speech is ok as long as it does not serve to hurt others and belittle others or demean others religion.

            Most Americans get that.

Unfortunately the noise coming from the right wanting to go to "War" wanting to Distance our selves from other countries, wanting to punish others countries, is just plain Stupid, yes I said Stupid.

Some in our country will never get it, so for them, we just overlook them.

Our President as many others has a Full Plate keeping our country on course with multiple task on his plate while others who work only 8 Days a year in the House of Representatives, have time to sit and Bully the President while contributing nothing absolutely nothing. Refusing to pass Job bill after jobs bill to hope our America goes in Decline while they sit on the sidelines and watch.

I have news for those people, Our America is Not in Decline, Our America Is not a Hateful Country that defends Harmful Free Speech, our America is one where we have those who "Lay Down Their Lives for a Friend, that means you and me.

Stop Betting Against America, You can Bully the Congress, Block All the Bills intended to help put our country's families back to work, You can take our country's Full Faith and Credit Over the Hill as you did last year, You can Block and Tackle every congressional measure put before you to Stop this Great Country Of Ours from Succeeding while you sit on your buts "Getting Paid by those very Americans Feeding Your Families, Putting Thousands of Dollars in your pockets via a pay check, Paying your Health Insurance Your Pensions, all while you Bet Against America!

That's all ok, but what you don't understand those in Congress who have spent every day 24/7 trying to put American in Decline because the Hate of One President and to Win an Election,

We are Americans, we know what you have done and continue to do and we Americans will meet you at the Ballot Boxes around this great country in November so you can get the message loud and clear

            "Don't Ever Bet Against America"

Thank you for posting this SandieLove. The Americans that i deal with every day don't worry about political parties when they go about their daily lives, and it is a shame that our elected officials put party before the welfare of this nation.

There are plenty of things for us to disagree on, and a healthy debate is good for all. Compromise is the core principle that this country was founded on, we wouldn't have a Constitution or Bill of Rights if our forefathers hadn't been able to put aside their differences in order to make a 'more perfect union' for the betterment of all.

This partisan war has gone on since Vietnam, but the level of vitriol and contempt has finally reached the point to where it is bringing this country down. We have no one to blame but ourselves for allowing it to get to this point, and enflaming the gulf through our words only steers our elected officials to do the same. i hope that we can find ways of disagreeing without being hateful, and that cooler heads can find ways to find common ground and move to the middle to find a path that provides the most good for the most people.

            Shady G,

No, Der Spiegel did NOT write that. I didn't think Der Spiegel would write such nonsense.

What you copied is a translation Der Spiegel printed from the right-wing paper Die Welt.

You could have copied the translation from the same article of Die Tageszeitung:

"The conservative US media have already -- excessively -- labeled the anti-US protests in Egypt, Libya and Yemen as a 'wildfire' and interpreted them as a result of Obama's 'weakness.'"

"It's lucky for Obama that his opponent Romney is acting in such a hapless manner. Instead of condemning the attacks in a statesman-like fashion and assuring the president of his support, Romney criticized the government's alleged 'apology' to the demonstrators. That was not just nonsense, but partisan maneuvering at a moment when patriotism would have been appropriate. With his attack, Romney has scored an own goal."

Thanks for researching that out Walkuere. The right-wing trolls on this site continually cut and paste Breitbart style writings and plagiarize them or copy other articles out of context. It is a full time job to follow their links and call bull. They will do anything to ensure the spread of disinformation at a broad scale. Apparently, it is what they are paid to do.

When it's all said and done it's been an up and down week for both candidates on the foreign policy front. 4 diplomats got killed on the President's watch so as the leader he needs to get critize because it's his job to protect US citizens while there on their goodwill missions in other countries otherwise you'll get less volunteers to do it. But his response is going to rough on those people who killed the 4 diplomats. Now Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan are right to critize the President because they want to be President and Vice President of the United States and taking advantage of foreign policy situation is good way to talk a good game. But here's the problem how many young men and women are going to be willing to go overseas and fight forever because these people would rather die then to give there lively hood to another nation. That's what Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan are actually proposing continous wars until we squeeze the life out of people that will never be squeezed out of them without them taking down as many Americans possible. But that's my opinion and I'm only deciphering what I think these two gentlemen are really saying in order that we respond to everything on foreign policy with guns blazing and shoot first and ask questions later mentality.

I know I'm late to this "discussion"; sorry, Brian-I'm a liberal Democrat who works two jobs-might I ask where Ronnie Reagan was when 247 American soldiers were slaughtered in their beds in Beirut? It is hard to prepare for every attack by insane fanatics. Ask those people who went to the movies in Colorado; ask the kids in Oklahoma City; ask the high school kids in Columbine.
