Obama’s post-convention advantage in the swing states of FL, OH, and VA… New NBC/WSJ/Marist polls: FL -- Obama 49%, Romney 44%... OH -- Obama 50%, Romney 43%... VA -- Obama 49%, Romney 44%... The debates can’t come soon enough for Romney… The Clinton bump… Romney dials down his embassy-attack criticism, but his campaign dials it back up… Fed’s action serves as a double-edged sword for Obama… Fact-checking the Romney camp’s latest ad… And Romney stumps in OH.
NBC's Chuck Todd breaks down the numbers from a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll of battleground states. The numbers appear to show an advantage for President Obama.
*** Obama’s post-convention advantage: After the two political conventions, President Obama leads Mitt Romney in three of the most important battleground states, according to new NBC/WSJ/Marist polls. In both Florida and Virginia, Obama is ahead of Romney by five points among likely voters, 49%-44%. In Ohio, the president's lead is seven points, 50%-43%. "You'd rather be in Obama's shoes than Romney's in these three critical states," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. Just how important are these three states? According to our battleground map, Romney likely needs to capture at least two of these states, if not all three, to get to 270 electoral votes. By comparison, Obama can hit or surpass that number by winning just one or two of these battlegrounds. And he even has a path WITHOUT these three states if he wins the toss-up contests of Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin. But winning two of these three battlegrounds -- Florida, Ohio, and Virginia -- checkmates Romney.

Ed Andrieski / AP
President Barack Obama waves after speaking at a campaign rally in Golden, Colo., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012.
*** Are minds already made up? But if you're the Romney campaign, there's still time to turn things around. Miringoff says that Obama's leads are not "insurmountable," especially as the two candidates prepare for the first presidential debate on Oct. 3. Yet here's the problem for Romney in these polls: Most voters have already made up their minds. Just 5% to 6% say they're undecided, and more than 80% signal they strongly support their candidate. The debates can’t come SOON ENOUGH for Romney.
*** Who are the undecideds? By the way, we looked at the undecideds in all three states -- collectively -- and these are voters who simply aren’t paying attention. And frankly, they don’t look like voters. Consider: A third of them are also undecided on the president’s job rating!?!! They like the president personally (more so than Romney), but they also view the direction of the country a lot WORSE than the rest of the voters. Bottom line: These folks look like DISAFFECTED voters, they seem disengaged from the campaign, and they don’t call themselves enthusiastic about the election. They are probably NOT voters.
*** The Clinton bump: Outside the horserace figures, perhaps the most striking numbers in the polls are the right track/wrong track numbers. In all three battlegrounds, a majority of registered voters believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. But more than 40% think it's headed in the right direction -- which is an increase from these numbers from May, when the last time we measured Florida, Ohio, and Virginia. Call it the Bill Clinton bump: All of a sudden, a segment of voters are feeling better about the country's direction. And in a presidential contest, that matters. As Clinton said in his convention speech, “No president -- not me or any of my predecessors -- could have repaired all the damage in just four years. But conditions are improving, and if you'll renew the president's contract you will feel it.” Remember, the entire Bill Clinton argument was about making the case we’re on the “right track.”
*** Final points about our polls: There’s a massive gender gap in all three states -- the president leads by double digits among women (16 points in Ohio, 12 in Florida, and 14 in Virginia), but Romney leads by just single digits among men in all three states (two in Ohio, four in Florida and five in Virginia). Also, while Romney’s fav/unfav rating in both VA and FL is a tad better than his national fav rating, it’s dismal in OH. His UNFAVORABLE rating hits the 50% mark in Ohio. We think this is evidence that in Ohio, specifically, the Obama personal attacks on Romney’s wealth and tax returns have taken the greatest toll. That state, more than others in the battleground is more susceptible to populist arguments.
*** Romney dials it down, while the campaign dials it up: Whether it was his campaign event yesterday in Virginia or his interview with ABC, Romney clearly decided to lower the volume on his Egypt/Libya criticism of the Obama administration. “I thought the [Cairo embassy] statement was inappropriate and pointed that out. And of course, the White House also thought it was inappropriate,” he told ABC. “But of course, now our attention is focused on the loss of life and the tragedy.” Yet while Romney was dialing things back, his campaign tripled down on the story with advisers suggesting to the Washington Post that the Libyan embassy deaths wouldn’t have occurred if Romney were president. “There’s a pretty compelling story that if you had a President Romney, you’d be in a different situation,” Richard Williamson, a top Romney foreign policy adviser, told the Post. “For the first time since Jimmy Carter, we’ve had an American ambassador assassinated.”
*** Is a big Romney speech coming? Sometime before the debates, expect Romney to do a major policy speech, something big enough, they hope, to “change the narrative” -- if you will. They know the campaign has been too reactive to events and they’d like to lay down a marker and force the president to be reactive for once. The debate in the campaign, though, is on what topic. Do they go big and bold on foreign policy (riskier but with a potential greater reward if it works)? Or go back to the bread and butter and simply go big and more detailed on an economic argument as a way to set up the first debate? Compelling cases for either; there are a lot of major events in the next two weeks that would provide convenient venues for the foreign policy speech (United Nations week, Clinton Global Initiative, etc.)
*** To be an ally or not an ally -- that is the question: Meanwhile, the Obama administration yesterday walked back the president’s declaration on Wednesday night that Egypt is neither an ally nor an enemy, after it was reported that Egypt was designated a major non-NATO ally back in 1989. Then again, it appears Egypt got the message. The New York Times: “Following a blunt phone call from President Obama, Egyptian leaders scrambled Thursday to try to repair the country’s alliance with Washington, tacitly acknowledging that they erred in their response to the attack on the United States Embassy by seeking to first appease anti-American domestic opinion without offering a robust condemnation of the violence.” Domestically, the Obama administration looked disorganized on this ally question; just bizarre listening to Jay Carney’s “official definition” of ally to walk back his boss’ comments. But internationally, it does appear that Egypt got the message. Suddenly, it appears Morsi has shut down the protests for today.
*** Fed’s action a double-edged sword for Obama: The Federal Reserve’s decision yesterday to launch another round of “quantitative easing” -- i.e., to stimulate the economy by purchasing bonds from banks -- is a double-edged sword for the president and his administration. On the one hand, it allows critics like Romney to say it’s evidence that the administration’s economic policies haven’t worked (though do remember that the opposition party has controlled the U.S. House for almost the last two years). “The Federal Reserve’s announcement … is further confirmation that President Obama’s policies have not worked,” the Romney camp said yesterday. But on the other hand, the news sent the stock market soaring, and it -- at least in the short term -- signals confidence that maybe things are on the right track (see the Clinton bump above).
*** Manufacturing fact check: The Romney campaign is out with an ad hitting the president on dealing with China, and it claims that the U.S. has lost 582,000 manufacturing jobs since Obama took office. Crunching the numbers, the Romney campaign apparently bases this on measuring from January 2009, when manufacturing workers made up 12,552,000 workers in the U.S., according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. According to preliminary August data, manufacturing jobs stood at 11,970,000 – a net reduction of 582,000. Of course, there is always an argument about which month of a presidency a president should begin to be blamed for jobs losses. The share of manufacturing workers hit its lowest point a year into Obama’s presidency, January 2010, when there were just 11,458,000 manufacturing workers. Compared to then, there are 512,000 more manufacturing workers. That’s a claim Obama made during his Charlotte acceptance speech and was rated “True” by Politifact. He claimed a gain of “over half a million manufacturing jobs” since January 2010. As with a lot of things jobs-numbers related, the trick is in where you start measuring.
*** On the trail: Romney campaigns in Painesville, OH at 3:05 pm ET… Paul Ryan and Ann Romney speak at the Values Voters Summit in DC, and then Ryan holds an event in Harrisonburg, VA at 2:35 pm ET… And Dr. Jill Biden stumps in Minnesota.

Happy Friday everyone!
I'm still fired up and ready to go vote for our President!
4 more for 44!
robmehood and lyin will destroy the middle class
How about those poll numbers?
This will go down as the week, Willard sealed his fate, with his juvenile, over-the-top handling of the Middle East crisis.
We need a commander in chief, not someone who plays "Who sunk my battleship"!
MittWitt & Queenie Ann, will not get "their turn"as they predicted.
On another note, lets all take a moment of silence to honor our dear friend Phinephancy, her voice of reason is going to be missed!
Yes. Unfortunately, 2012 American’s are forced to endure living through the second term of the failed Presidency of Jimmy Carter. The failure of Barry to get the economy moving “Forward” (LOL!!!) is WAY too eerily reminiscent or the “malaise” of the peanut farmer’s admin. Just like ole JC, Barry is feeding the American people a line of BS about how he will get it right in the next four years, if they are just willing to forget the failures of his first four years.
Anyone Dumbocrat voter stupid enough to believe Slick Willy’s convention speech lie about “No President, not even the magnificent ME, could have fixed the economy in only four years” should be disqualified to vote based on mental disease or defect.
The economy of the late1970’s and the recession in the early 80’s was FAR worse than this lefty liberal mega- hyped “Great Recession”. Does anyone remember the gas lines and gas price spikes Jimmy Carter “Presided” over?? What about the Jimmy Carter “misery index”?? It was the combination of the unemployment rate and the inflation rate. And it reached almost 22% in June 1980. Unemployment reached well north of 10% in the recession Reagan “Inherited” (LMFAO!!!!!) from Ole JC. Yet, look what CNN had to say about the Reagan recovery:
Slick Willy had the “BRASS” to tell a bald faced lie to the American people, and the Dem-inclined sheeple swallowed it whole.
As The Who song “Won’t Get Fooled Again” says about ole JC and Barry:
“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.”

GOP pins Jimmy Carter on Barack Obama
By: Glenn Thrush
September 13, 2012 06:39 PM EDT
When the going gets tough, Republicans get Jimmy Carter.
Republicans and their surrogates spent much of Thursday pinning the Carter kick-me sign on Barack Obama, portraying the current commander-in-chief as a Carter-esque wimp unwilling to challenge Islamist militants raging outside U.S. consular buildings in Libya, Yemen and Cairo.
Crazy-gluing the 44th president to the 39th has been a favorite Republican pastime for years. Carter is the brand name for fecklessness, indecision and weakness in the Oval Office. But up until now Mitt Romney, running mate Paul Ryan and their surrogates have invoked Carter to blast Obama’s economic policies or willingness to cut defense spending — not to define their opponent in a time of international crisis.
But the jarring images of angry mobs evoke memories of the Iranian hostage crisis, lending the Carter attacks new resonance and giving the GOP an opening to change a narrative that has mostly centered on Romney’s sputtering response to the crisis.
“Obama is much luckier than Carter, and luck is the most important thing a president can possibly have,” said longtime New Yorker political correspondent and former Carter speechwriter Hendrik Hertzberg.
Good morning, everyone.
A little feminist political humor this morning, in honor of our courageous friend Ashley (Phinephancy) --
Godspeed to Ashley and to her family.
Again, with the Jimmy Carter references...
By all means, run with it, it has worked out so well for you nitwits, the last dozen times you resurrected it! lol
The disaster that is Obama's foreign policy is on display this week:our Ambassador and three others killed in a building protected only by a door lock, and violent demonstrations and flag burnings at our Embassies in Cairo, Tunisia, and Yemen.
Complicating matters is a president who does not comprehend the term "ally"- he blithely stated that Egypt is not an ally, though not an enemy. His equally clueless spokesman then informed us that "ally" was a "term of art".
It's a legal term, that carries with it manifold benefits for both parties. In fact, Congress designated Egypt to be a "Major, Non-NATO Ally" in 1989, (the others are Australia, Israel, Japan, The Republic of North Korea, and New Zealand). So, while dealing with the crisis in the Middle East/North Africa, the State Department also had to walk back Obama's idiotic pronouncement. So, why did Obama further complicate matters by making that ridiculous statement? Well, according to Mediaite
|Additionally, FP reported that the "ally" remark "was not pre-arranged or prepared by staff and that the question was not anticipated."|
(H/T: Foreign Policy)
http://www.mediaite.com/online/white-house-clarifies-obamas-egypt-comment-ally-is-a-legal-term-of-art/
So, if Obama is not rehearsed, prepared, and focus grouped, he cannot answer a question without creating, at the least, a controversy- at the worst, a disaster. Tell me again about his "brilliance"- cause, I'm pretty sure that the results of his presidency- the economy, the debt, foreign policy- suggest that this brilliance exists only on his mind, and the imaginings of his mindless cult members.
Obama, of course, is too busy to attend intelligence briefings-attending fewer than 44%. We are told that all Obama needs to do is simply read the single sheet of paper he receives daily, and-bam! he's well informed. The evidence suggests exactly the opposite- but the media swallows this hook, line, and sinker.
The media, of course, focused on what Mitt Romney had to say- solemnly intoning that it was a gaffe. Uh, sorry- no, it was not.
Then, we had Joe Biden weighing in. Here is what he had to say in Wisconsin :
|Vice President Joe Biden speaking in Eau Claire at University of WI, 9/13: I'm supposedly an expert on foreign policy. Well, you know, an expert from where I come from is anyone from out of town with a briefcase. I do not have a briefcase.|
So, maybe if somebody were to stop at Staples and shell out a hundred bucks for a black faux leather, we'd have somebody in this administration with a clue?
I've got a better idea:
Obama shelved in 2012.
Good morning. I find the most interesting items to take from the recent polling is:
1) People seem to have pretty much made up their minds, barring something cataclysmic for either candidate.
2) The polling sample always seem to skew 8-10% Democrat. But who is to say that there are not more registered democrats in those areas?
In any event, the poll in November will be the one that counts.
Knowing what we know now now about the past, Jimmy Carter would have been a better choice in the 2nd round than the old trickle down days.
Once trickle-down ends on Dec 31 there will be nothing Republicans can do to stop the rise of the middle class....
Obama/Biden 2012

Proof positive and undeniable.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obama certainly seems to be in the driver's seat. If he gets through the debates with more or less a series of ties, and outside events don't turn the campaign season on its head, it looks like he's got it.
I'll save my rant this morning for NBC News. Why the heck do I have to keep unchecking the Facebook box on these message screens? I don't have a Facebook account. Based on what I've heard about their plans for user personal data, I'll never have a Facebook account. The fact that you are promoting a public, for profit social media company makes you look less like a news organization - at least in my eyes. If you're going to promote social media and thus promote marketing and misuse of personal data, please change your name. The 'news' tag doesn't fit anymore.
According to the http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2012-general-election-romney-vs-obama#!mindate=2011-08-16
Not much of a lead as you would think when most of the media wants the President to be re-elected. Let's wait until next week surprise.
Pollster Estimate
Not a good week for humanity.
To read many of the posts here, you'd think we live in a hell hole in the United States. I really wish some of those people could visit hell - the one conjured up in religions; the really awful place - and understand we live in a virtual paradise.
We live in this place against inconceivable odds. Inconceivable! An almost infinite series of events had to occur to result in our birth. None of the events could have been altered in the slightest. None, unless you hold a delusion that a god or gods took time out to put you here, because the universe needed you, incomparable you.
Against those inconceivable odds, not only do we grace the firmament of Mother Earth, we tread the magical land we call the United States. The most creative mind could not imagine this place: incredibly fertile soil, ample water, pure air, and weather patterns that provide a bounty sufficient to feed not only those who live here, but a great portion of the world.
Our wealth is measured in myriad ways. Most of us have medical care. Most of us have cupboards and refrigerators brimming with wonderful foods. We can create light and cool or heat our homes with the flip of a switch. We can travel hundreds of miles in a single day and hardly put our feet on the ground. Our bounty is beyond description.
Yet, from this paradise we hear screeching and howling from citizens who cannot see any wonder here, who cannot understand their incredible good fortune. They spew their vitriol at every opportunity. Why isn't their life perfect? Why have they been so abused? Why isn't their life the fairy tale they demand it should be?
The fact is, the life of an American is almost like a fairy tale, but you have to look beyond yourself to see it. Is it not amazing that you can touch a plastic board and letters appear on a screen in front of your eyes? Is it not amazing that you have a plug in your wall that powers this machine as well as a washer, a dryer, a refrigerator. Is it not amazing that you can pump a liquid in your car, turn a piece of metal, and the car goes where you direct it?
How amazing is this? You could not build this keyboard on your best day. You could not build or even imagine how to build the screen that shows what keys you punched. You could not build the incredible network of power lines that bring you power. You could not build or even conceive the notion of a washer, dryer, or refrigerator. You could not refine petroleum. You could not mine the ores that make the metals that are fabricated into an automobile. You could not build an aircraft, much less describe the Bernoulli effect. (Yeah, I know. What's that?)
Yet, rather than appreciate the wonders that we take for granted, we have this group of self-centered, ignorant swine who can find nothing right with this magical land. Nope, they deserve more. They've earned it. Why? Because against inconceivable odds, they were born here. That's it. THEY were born. Instead of seeing themselves as the beneficiaries of blessings they did not create, they are victims of circumstance.
So on this beautiful Friday, when I will spend yet another day in this fabulous place, I simply want to say to those folks....Shut up!
Like Mitt's dumb@ssed comments this week? :)
I never knew installing door locks was on the job responsibilities of the President!
Say, Snooks, can you tell us which brands stop an RPG?
You are growing more irrational every day.. lol
I think you speak for many of us David.
Romney's behavior is unbecoming of someone seeking the position of U.S. President:
"I mean, Mitt Romney. Really. U.S. diplomatic posts are attacked abroad, and your first reaction is to issue a statement blasting the president? J. Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other officials are killed in a commando-style assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, and your instinct is to seek not safety for other Americans at risk, not justice for the cold-blooded killers, but political advantage for yourself?
Romney's rushed statement Tuesday night calling the Obama administration's response to the violence "disgraceful" was a new low in a campaign already scraping bottom. And Romney's subsequent decision to double down on the attack, even as Americans mourned the first killing of an ambassador since 1979 and officials began investigating what now looks like a well-planned terrorist attack . . . well, I guess this whole performance says a lot about what kind of man Romney is.
The most charitable explanation is that he's in a panic over polls that show Obama opening a lead. If this is not the case, then Romney's ignorance of foreign policy is more profound — and potentially dangerous — than anyone could have suspected." (Eugene Robinson this morning)
So, Romney's looking forward to the debate with our President. Doesn't he have enough problems already? President Obama will eat him alive. Ever notice, Romney walks funny? Interesting.
OBAMA IN 2012.
I tried to change my profile picture today in honor of long time poster Phinephancy, whose avatar was a pink flamingo. I'll try again to turn it into a flamingo. What a lovely spirit she had, and I will try to be slightly less acidic, in her memory. As she would say "play nice, children."
Obama/Biden 2012. I support Angus King for U.S. Senate.
Feisty: no jo is so consumed by hatred for this black President that she cannot begin to understand the issues regarding those embassies. I am quite sure that she is relishing in these attacks so she can spin them against her President, regardless of the loss of life.
I don't know where "North" came from- it shouldn't be there. So, an edit-it is the Republic of Korea- more commonly known as South Korea, that is a major, non-NATO ally of this country.
And, to whomever it is that figured out how to edit other's comments- knock it off.
Amy, what happened to Phine?
Now come on NDD,
Didn't she tell us herself, she has A black friend? lol
Oh, and, rape disrupts ovulation...
Uh Oh!
She @!$%#s up and now someone else is to blame? lmao
Snookie must of had a double dose of paranoia with her coffee this morning!
A tidbit caught early this morning relates to Jimmy Carter and the conservatives efforts to equate former President Carter to President Obama. Mitt Romney may not be the incumbent but he acts and sounds like Gerald Ford in 1976--right down to Ford's confusing the facts about the former Soviet Bloc countries, Mitt's confusing claim that Russia is our #1 geopolitical enemy.
David, beautiful beautiful post. I just returned from Russia and I can tell you first hand - there is no place like home.
There are people here in America who just like to be miserable, afraid someone has more than they have and of course, the government is to blame.
I am so so appreciative of having grown up in the United States. I am so so appreciative all those in my generation who fought tool and tail to bring equality to all.
I am so so appreciative of a president who believes, truly believes in each of us helping each other making an even better country for future generations.
It's too bad he is mocked, as most democrats are. They have given their lives to making a difference by people who have no one's back except their own.
It's time we began to honor and not destroy people like our president. It's what the GOP does. It's their MO. It's what they have always done. Bring down people who dedicate their lives to others.
They have done nothing for four years, so they have nothing to run on. They have no record to run on.
They should all lose their seats and bring on people who wish nothing more than to be a position to help make America grow.
Well, done, David.
Although, would you mind too much if I left Albany Joe's keyboard out of my thankfulness?
(Love ya, Joe.)
Amy, very saddened to hear of phinephancy's passing. She was an interesting lady who will be missed here on First Read.
As I said, the new poll created by NBC/WSJ/MARIST didn't take long to reflect the intentions of why a lawsuit was filed against the OLD AND TRUSTED GALLOP POLL.
They know that most folks will believe whatever they see, read or hear on the news and the Obama administration will take advantage of every opportunity on every issue regardless of it being the truth or the usual lies that are so frequent.
It's up to us to really get the truth and be mindful of the consequences on whom we vote for in November.
“The Federal Reserve’s announcement … is further confirmation that President Obama’s policies have not worked,” the Romney camp said yesterday. But on the other hand, the news sent the stock market soaring, and it -- at least in the short term -- signals confidence that maybe things are on the right track...
Quite the contrary. This action by the Fed was known as "the Nuclear Option" on Wall Street and signals that Ben Bernanke is throwing in the towel. By implementing this policy, he is basically admitting that the administration's economic policy has not worked and that he and they have reached the point of last resort.
As for the stock market soaring, why wouldn't it? All of this "quantitative easing" is like crack to traders and now they have come to expect it everytime the economy hiccups. While Wall Street will make out like bandits, we the consumers will ultimately pay the price with inflated prices. What part of supply and demand do we not understand? If you flood the market with US dollars, their value can only go down.
*They have given their lives to making a difference and yet are disrespected constantly by people who have no one's back except their own.*
Hey Feisty, here is one old joke for you redhead.
The confuse redhead can't make Kool-aid because 8 cups of water wont fit into those little pockets.
Just a joke, but keep drinking the stuff with all your friends. You can take it as an insult if you want. As they say when in Rome do as the Roman.
Obama's bump ends this week.
Romney/Ryan 2012 Before it is too late.
Yes, it's all coming together. Just as I predicted. bwahahahahahaha.
Who told you Romney would be the nominee? I did. Well over a year ago.
Who told you T-paw would the VP nominee? OK, I did, and I still think he was Romney's first choice but he was out-voted by his advisers who thought Mitt needed to bolster his conservative cred and create some excitement about the GOP ticket.
Who told you the Ryan pick would fizzle with a minimum bump in the polls? I did.
Who told you the Romney post convention bump would be minimal? I did.
Who told you the President would get a good bump out of the convention and would ride that all the way to the election? I did.
And who predicted the President would do so well he would have a true coat-tail affect down the ballot and give the Democrats a real chance to take back the house and shore up the majority in the senate? I've been saying it for a year now.
So what's the big deal? All my predictions (ok, all but one) have come to pass! Neither Nostrodamus or Edgar Cayce could have done better!
It's over, the President will win re-election in an historic landslide. All we have to do is it get out the vote and say buh-bye to the Mitt and Paul show. Buh-bye. It's over. Save us a few million bucks and call it.
Obama/Biden 2012 (I told you so)
LoL Given the circumstances surrounding Mitt Romney's campaign over the past few days, this may not have been exactly the right moment for that comment.

Please tell me you mean frustrated old lady, how in the f&&k is it the president fault when a goof he has noting to do with, put out a video that insults Muslims and the Arab world. how is this a foreign policy disaster, all i know is that if Romney really wanted to show his foreign policy mussels he would have not went to Poland and talked crap but went to Russia, France, or ever Germany!!! but he know that he can't do that because the last republican president they trusted screwed them, got their soldiers killed in Iraq and Afgan. RIGHT NO JO!!!
so i guess its Obama fault those people were killed.

Nobama 2012 Really Things Could Be Worse-
Give Me Four more Years and I’ll Prove It
We have to wait for November to rely upon hindsight but to date, despite the ranting rhetoric about what a poor job President Obama has done, the wonderful American public seems to be able to make their own opinions - despite what Karl Rove bombards them with.
And the wonderful American public includes many smart Republicans. The superstars of the GOP did not underestimate the voters and have long-since figured out that Obama has done a remarkable job with the hand dealt and none of them could be persuaded to spend their political capital on a futile run in 2012, choosing to keep their powder dry until 2016. This explains why the GOP was left with a cast of laughable characters and only one obvious choice, Mitt Romney. Mr. Romney wants the Presidency so badly, he took the chance. Unfortunately, he just doesn't have the right stuff and the aforementioned wonderful American public are now reconciling to giving President Obama his second term which, I am certain is the right thing to do.
The most comforting thing in all of this is that no matter how much money Adelson, Koch and Rove spend to influence American politics, the wonderful American public sits around the kitchen table and makes their own choice. Kinda makes you proud.
again with the black man obsession on the left. i could care less about the color, gender, spirtual or any other aspect of any elected official.
what is important is that those that are elected lead. some will argue that the current occupant of the oval office has been a great leader, others believe he has been an abject failure.
i would be interested in seeing how dumbfux lists his leadership qualities and why he should be elected. but please do not just get into the argument that obama is simply the lesser of two evils.
will she accept? time will tell.
I agree it's over
But, let's not get complacent, we must keep our eye on the prize and foot on the gas until we cross the finish line on 11.6.12
We have to get out the vote like our lives depend on it, because they do! ☺
Hey Sybil
If someone was able to edit your comments Id bet they would do more than simply change The Republic of North Korea from Republic of Korea.
You are one paranoid broad
I am very sorry to hear about Phinephancy. I enjoyed reading her posts. As Feisty Redhead said, she was a voice of reason on this often fractious board.
Obama/Biden 2012
Like trickle down economics?
Moron.
How about those poll numbers?
How about them? They call it a post-convention "bounce" for a reason. Obama's advantage was actually greater a few days ago and it is already beginning to recede. What a candidate wants to do is use the "bounce" to create momentum. The reason this is not working for Obama is because once the post-convention euphoria wears off, people are faced with the reality that things just aren't going all that well.
Romney puts softer edge on Libya criticism......
WALK BACK LIKE A REPUBLICAN
All the old men of the GOP
They do the walk back don't you know?
If they move too quick (oh we know)
They're falling down like a domino
All the bizarre men of the GOP
They got their money on our sweat
Gold lovers (oh we know)
They want to stick us with the debt
Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Oh we know, Mitt's gotta go
Walk back like a Republican
Mitt Romney has his say
He spins and slides across the floor
He’s lost the moves (oh we know)
You drink their Kool Aid and they bring you more
All the voters so sick of lies
They’re sick of Mitt and Paul "Lyin"
When the lie detector beeps
They walk back like Republicans
All the folks in the electorate say
GOP has gotta go, ay oh we know
Walk back like a Republican
Remove your spine and bend your back
Shift your view then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh we know)
So strike a pose on an ad attack
If you want to find Wall Street crooks
They're hanging out in Romney’s place
They sing and dance (oh they know)
Avoiding taxes is no disgrace
The party of the grumpy old men
Outsourcing all our jobs again
And the Chinese know (oh they know)
They've learned to like Republicans
Foot in mouth, Mitt Romney says
What the people what they want to know,
Walk back like a Republican
Walk back like a Republican
Just to add...NBC FIX YOUR JOBS NUMBERS!! Either add a zero to the overall jobs or take away a zero from the gain/loss being reported....a 10 year old could do better than this..unbelievable..do you not have anyone there who knows simple arithmetic?
Well one the things poll shows, women understand that Ryan/Romney, and republicons are raging a war on women. The polls clearly show the women will let the world know they are not going to stand having their rights taken away from them by the crazy religious rt wingers and billionaires. These rt wingers and billionaires want to privatize all of health care raising costs for women's and family needs. These old religious rt wingers want to take the nation back more than a hundred years to keep women barefoot and pregnant with no rights to equal pay, abuse, and no say in birth control or family planning. Women need to express their concerns and they will when they vote! Men need to stand up for the women in their lives and all women and support Obama/Biden and Democratic party!
Voting for President Obama/Biden and Team Democratic Party!
If Romney thinks the debates can't come "soon enough" for his tastes, I think he's got another thing coming. Say what you will, Obama has never once seemed flustered or at a loss for words as a president or candidate. He is ALWAYS poised and in control. Romney always strikes me as Mr. Plastic; everything he says and does at this point is for show, and for votes. I don't trust Romney as far as I could throw him. I really have no idea what he would do or accomplish as president, other than to emulate GWB. On the other hand, I DO know that Obama was handed a really crappy environment in which to operate. Two wars, an economic debacle, an already bulging deficit and and a politically-divided country. And we said "Here ya go, Barrack. fix everything immediately and don't raise taxes". Under those circumstances I think he has done an absolutely remarkable job. He DESERVES those four more years, and that's the way I'm voting in November.
Consumer inflation rises by most in three years.
Unemployment U-6 12 %
Annual growth 1.5 %
Price of gas $ 3.90 / gall.
However ; Obama's post-convention advantage.
Obamanomic is a failure , this electon is Obama's referendum.
I will wait until November , Carter was also leading at this time and he lost the reelection. :)
The lib media can put up any poll numbers they want but the reality is that Barry is going to be sent packing. Whats going on with MSN? Dont want to report on the state department having information about the attacks on the anv. of 9/11 in Libya and Egypt?
Romney triples down on his poorly timed and unempathic criticism of Obama and the embassy deaths. This further demonstrates his lack of ability to "get it".
The statement by the Cairo embassy regarding religious tolerance (something we believe in in America, and something Romney has campaigned for) was meant to diffuse the angry sentiment and prevent an embassy breach. Obama NEVER apologized.
The reaction to Romney's comments have drawn ire from Republicans including John McCain. Even Limbaugh has criticized Romney.
And what does Romney do, he triples down on the comments. I guess when you've dug a hole, you keep digging and pretend you are about to the other side.
Look for the distance in the polls to increase. The debates won't change much for Romney. Bill Clinton has given Obama all the ammo he needs for the debates, and Romney/Ryan have made it an olympic event to lie through most of their campaign.
Romney could do a policy speech, but he would be forced to finally give details about his economic plans. Another opening for Obama.
David Walker, cheers for that! It seems too many people look to find only the negative, the glass half full.
Belfast Lad, well said!
Backhouse, Eugene Robinson gets it right again.
Uh, aquatone? I suggest you go back and read my post- paying particular attention to the quote from Foreign Policy magazine.
See, the reason Obama appears cool, calm, and collected is that his own staff supplies the questions for interviews. Thus, he practices answers ahead of time.
On the "Egypt is not our ally" gaffe, the interviewer slipped in a non-prepared question- and Obama blew it. Kind of the way he blew it with the ENTIRE "you didn't build that" statement- he was off prompter.
The debates? I'm one hundred percent certain that both sides get the questions in advance- wouldn't it be wonderful if the media did a better job of keeping us informed of that little tidbit?
David Walker-
Thank you for the kind words yesterday, and right back at you today.
And no one would have agreed with you more than our Phinephancy phreind. Hope whatever land she's in today is even more magical than this one and that all her steps will be phootloose and phancy-free phorever.
This flamingo's for you, GF!
Eric,
Barry is a weak leader. That is all!
So sorry to hear about PP. Godspeed.
He only "blew it" because he underestimated the idiocy of people like you. How's that self abort logic working out?
Mittens on the consulate attack:
Give me a break! Romney doesn't give a damn about the death of our ambassador to Libya, except to what extent he can exploit it for his own political gain. And now that his original knee-jerk attack on Obama has blown up in his face, Romney has shifted to blaming Obama for a lack of security for diplomatic personnel that led to the deaths.
What's really galling about that is Ambassador Stevens was OPPOSED to turning U.S. diplomatic missions into fortresses, according to the New York Times. Stevens risked his life for his belief that the U.S. diplomats should be more accessible to the people of the country he served, and unfortunately, he lost his life because of his beliefs. Stevens stood for everything that Romney is against. Stevens, like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, was for smart power. Mitt Romney has shown repeatedly with his foreign policy prat falls that he is for blustering, blundering stupid power.
Polls are a fickle thing, but I am sure Romney would love to have Obama's poll numbers. Romney's candidacy looks doomed to me. Romney can talk tough on foreign policy, but Americans are sick of war, and would much prefer diplomacy and international cooperation to be our central strategy in foreign policy.
Republicans like to increase defense spending and cut taxes for the rich, even though the middle class is buried in debt.
Trickle down has failed in its stated outcome of producing increased government revenues by cutting taxes (labelled Voodoo Economics by Bush I back in 1980) not producing even one balanced budget in 20 years of Republican Presidents trying to make it work (0 for 20). It hasn't even produced sustained job growth (1 million net new jobs in Bush's 8 years versus 18 million new jobs in Clinton's 8 years) despite increasing the top 1%'s share of our national income from 10% in 1980 to 24% today.
Increased defense spending only leads Republican leaders to the increased temptation to fight wars and deprives our government of the revenue it needs to invest more aggressively in our infrastructure, education of our future work force, and scientific research that will provide future jobs and breakthrough technologies we will need to prosper and grow in the future.
Romney is trending downward in the polls as Americans find out more about his policy positions which are clearly going to take our country in the wrong direction. It is time to solve our most pressing problems instead of trying to just be the world's boss which the rest of the world doesn't want anyway.
*** To be an ally or not an ally -- that is the question
Our president, of all people, doesn't know who our allies are? He is the Commander
in Chief right?
formerGOPlapdog, enjoyed your post.
As for polls, they will go up and they will go down. The point, however, is that President Obama has taken a lead and that lead is building because of Mitt Romney's failures to be specific, his refusal to release his taxes, his constant lies, his inability to show leadership, his faux-paxs, his inability to relate to people. However, for President Obama to win re-election, it is important that those supporting him GET OUT AND VOTE, vote early, vote absentee, vote Nov 6--just vote!
FR:
The First Read guys seem to have forgotten that Mitt Romney himself said that a new president's policies should be given between six months and a year to take effect. Of course, Romney won't cut Obama the slack he demands for himself because Romney is a hypocrite as well as a liar. Funny how those two character traits always seem to go together.
@Anna Molly #1.3,
Good morning to you too and all. I have a little humor for you also,
Just after the Clinton days, Monica Lewinsky has gone Republican,
She said the Democrats left a bad taste in her mouth... ;-)
Have a nice weekend....
You can't argue with success, DOW above 13,500 for first time since '07, Another nice job by President Obama. OBAMA Shows to be everything Romney is not and that's a Leader !!!!!!!!!!
Is Egypt an ally or not? Think about it. Not long ago, conservatives were ranting about the fact that the Egyptians elected a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. The truth is simple, if we bother to look at the facts, President Obama is correct--at this point in Egypt's fledgling democracy, we do not know which way it will lean. Egypt is not our enemy as Obama stated but we have yet to learn whether or not it remains an ally. Common sense should tell everyone that, including Romney.
Romney is a hypocrite as well as a liar. Funny how those two character traits always seem to go together.
Houston, they do always go together don't they? And Romney is just a continuation of the Bush/Cheney years. Remarkable isn't it? Neither he nor the neocons have learned a damn thing.
Constant constant lies. It's why Romney thought he could get away with it. I guess the foreign policy flare up was just a bridge too far for some republicans. Some.
Romney now wants 2 wars. We can't get rid of him fast enough.
Who was it who said that when you have to resort to insults, you've already lost the argument?
Read the news, Joe.
Like Romney could have turned around the worst economic crisis we have faced since the Great Depression any sooner, using the same policies that CREATED the crisis?
Get real. Wake up. RE-ELECT PRESIDENT OBAMA
aqua in 1.49. i have made his original comments bold and inserted my opinion.
If Romney thinks the debates can't come "soon enough" for his tastes, I think he's got another thing coming. Say what you will, Obama has never once seemed flustered or at a loss for words as a president or candidate.
I believe he is currently flustered. His administration has sent and continues to send mixed signals on how to appease the radical Muslim extremists while showing Americans he is tough. I thoroughly agree on the loss for words thing. He will just keep talking and talking; needs to develop better skills with that.
He is ALWAYS poised and in control.
Except when he is not. He has demonstrated just how thin his skin is on numerous occasions.
Romney always strikes me as Mr. Plastic; everything he says and does at this point is for show, and for votes.
Everything any candidate does is for show and votes. Obama refused to stay in Washington this week during all of the mid-East turmoil in favor of going to Vegas to raise money. Obama refuses to meet with the leader of Israel because his schedule is full of important things like fundraising with celebs and appearing on David Letterman.
I don't trust Romney as far as I could throw him. I really have no idea what he would do or accomplish as president, other than to emulate GWB.
Your choice but I would be interested as to why you don't trust him. I doubt that Romney will emulate GWB, in fact, many on the left believe that Obama has done that -- he has kept gitmo open, he extended tax cuts for the rich, he gave more money to GM after Bush started the bailout -- as just a couple of examples.
On the other hand, I DO know that Obama was handed a really crappy environment in which to operate. Two wars, an economic debacle, an already bulging deficit and and a politically-divided country.
No one forced him into the job. He spent several years campaigning for it. If he and his handlers were neither smart enough nor experienced enough to deal with it then he should have not run. He has no one to blame but himself.
And we said "Here ya go, Barrack. fix everything immediately and don't raise taxes".
Actually Barack (only one r) told us he would fix everything. He promised to cut the deficit in half but instead has increased it more than any other president; he said that if he did not get this done in 3 years then it will be a one-term proposition; his economic advisers said that if we would just spend $800B on a stimulus then unemployment would certainly stay under 8%. So Barry brought these unreal promises upon himself.
Under those circumstances I think he has done an absolutely remarkable job. He DESERVES those four more years, and that's the way I'm voting in November.
So, unemployment over 8%, budget deficits over $1T each year of his presidency, foreign policy blunders that have taken us from the Arab Spring to where we are today, condemning Bush for raising the debt ceiling then doing it himself, promising to close Gitmo and failing, passing a massive healthcare (actually insurance reform) bill still disliked by more than half of the country, passing a stimulus to exploit shovel-ready jobs -- except there weren't any as he laughed about later and many other things . Please do more research before you decide to turn Obama loose for 4 more years.
The debates can’t come SOON ENOUGH for Romney.
I don't know which Romney the author has been watching, but if I was Romney, I'd be dreading the debates. He is not good at extemporaneous speaking, and Obama is. Every time Romney tries to wing it, he ends up with a foot taste in his mouth (London, Tuesday night, and just about every day in the last 6 months).
Hey Creek Dog #1.64, are you talking about John Boner ???????????????
So sorry to hear the news of Phine's passing, she was a classy, intelligent lady and I will miss her voice of reason and her clearheaded views. Peace be with Phine and prayers to her family.
As for President Carter - honey, there is no way he is now or was ever as bad as ronald reagon, I never quite understood how the "family values", extreme "Christian" wing of the republican party could throw out a man who was married to his one and only spouse (still is) and is a Baptist Sunday School teacher and deacon for an adulter with two living spouses (yep, it is adultry if you get your mistress pregnant and divorce your wife to marry your mistress, and that is exactly what happened, varified by nancy & ronnie's daughter patti davis - read her book for an eye opener) who seldom if ever sat foot in a church. But this was the beginning of the downfall of the republican party and the start of the removal of the working/middle class due to the failed trickle down "Voodoo" economics in the reagun administration.
Patriotic,
Interesting take. When the stock markets were in the sh-tter you guys were all screaming that the president has nothing to do with the markets. Now you want to claim a victory? Obama is anything but a leader and he has proved that time and time again. In the past few days he has sealed the deal in showing that he is not a leader.
This is from a liberal paper:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/revealed-inside-story-of-us-envoys-assassination-8135797.html
Looks like another good day for the stock markets, after yesterday’s GREAT day.
Thank you Ben Bernanke. I am constantly amazed at the ability is the capitalist economic model to overcome all the moronic obstacles shoved in its way. Lefty liberals may HATE capitalism, but, they are forced by reality (Yeah, right. “lefty liberals” and “reality” in the same sentence. LMAO!!!!) to admit :
It’s the worst economic system, except for all the others.
It’s a great day, Friday, sunny, no humidity, low 80’s. Sounds like it’s a filet/salmon/Sam’s day to me. I just found a local market that is carrying fresh AK silver (coho) salmon. Their big runs are in late August and early Sept. It brought back memories of one of my favorite vacations in AK. I took a half-day salmon fishing charter in the Valdez Arm and the silvers were practically jumping into the boat asking to be grilled up. I would put the line in the water and within two minutes I was reeling in another silver. I took some back to the campsite for dinner and sent home 23 lbs of flash frozen salmon filets just from that half-day.
Life is good. Enjoy.
Now they've done it. They've torched a KFC and now they're going to have to deal with the Colonel.
You inna heep a trouble boy!
Yeah, doing a great job my ass! Inflation up most in 3 years and it's only going to get worse! If you geniuses elect the whiner in chief again you're doomed to bend over and take it like you like it! Gas $3.80 and rising. Just bury your heads like everything is hunky dory. Who gives a crap about the stock market, it's all based on speculation. Watch it drop when America's credit rating goes into the crapper because the Feds see fit in spending more $ they don't have.
"shows not just poor judgment and a willingness to use tragedy for political gains, regardless of the security consequences — but also poor management. He has policy people on his team who know better. Clearly they weren't consulted."
Here is another one for you libs that think Barry is a true leader:
http://freebeacon.com/reports-marines-not-permitted-live-ammo/
Xabre - are you a redhead too? Do you get your order from the Beastly feisty?
If you don' t like the don't read it.
I did post about the poll on http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/2012-general-election-romney-vs-obama#!mindate=2011-08-16
Just in case the Rasmussen Report has Romney 48% to Obama 45%. I still call it close.
November is almost here.
Joe HAHAHAHAHA
"Reality" on Planet Earth is very different from reality on Planet Wingnut where you live. The Romneybot's political operatives are FURIOUS at Ben Bernanke for doing something to sustain the recovery that the Republicans in Congress have tried so hard to block for the past four years, and Mitch McConnell can't filibuster Bernanke, which McConnell most certainly would have if he could.
It would seem the American People realize Romney thinks morals are pictures on walls and scruples is money in Russia. (A movie quote, but it applies to the Romneybot.)
So what happens when the effort by Wall Street to buy the presidency fails? The wealthy, elite backers of Romney share the beliefs stated above, after all. If something doesn't come up to the required Return On Investment they kill it--quickly--and pocket whatever they can before the pensioners, workers, contractors, and other "leeches" can get their hands on anything. Paul Ryan isn't the only living heart donor. Will the Adelsons, Kochs, and other major funders of the Conservative Movement continue to pour money down a hole, or they redouble their efforts to buy our representative democracy away from us?
As one who lives in a battleground state one thing is clear above all else. President Obama was right when he criticized the Citizens United decision in his State of the Union speech. Money isn't speech, it's bribery.
Will we allow our government, a legacy handed down to us for over 220 years to be sold to the highest bidder?
I was pleased last week when Connecticut was moved to strongly for and now we have Ohio, Va. and Florida moved to the Obama side. I guess that is what happens when your candidate , on the other side, puts his foot in his mouth day after day. Imagine the mess he would get us into with that mouth!! I don't want millionaires and billionaires running this country either.
Really. I'm used to thinking that was Richard Nixon.
Vietnam. 1969-1973.
What was that "secret plan," anyway?
Or was it Ronald Reagan?
Beirut, 1982.
Well, at least St. Ronald didn't make the same mistake twice.
Or was it George H.W. Bush?
"Vision thing," missing in action.
Or was it George W. Bush?
Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, no end date in sight.
Or was it John McCain?
I know how to get Bin Laden. Vote for me, and I'll tell you.
Honestly, I get so confused. All those neocon chickenhawks look alike to me.
Really sorry to hear the news about phinephancy passing away . . . she will be missed.
Great description of the conservative mindset, David Walker! They are the kind of people for whom, as Gore Vidal said:
They are the kind of people who care nothing for their neighbors or communities and completely fail to comprehend that we are all in the same boat here.
It was an accident of birth that made us Americans, nothing more. The happiest accident of all was the birth of Barack Obama in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. We as a people are truly blessed.
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN NOVEMBER 6, 2012
My order? Like what? A sandwich?
The best part of Romney's ship sinking is that the undertow is taking the Republican Senate candidates down with him. The USS Romney may keep control of the Senate with the Dems.

So well said it is worth repeating. Well said!
Today is a day to celebrate hate speech.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/15/world/middleeast/anti-american-protests-over-film-enter-4th-day.html?_r=1&hp
Let us not forget to thank our fellow haters for their contributions to World peace and stability.
For example --
And thank you, Mitt Romney, for reassuring the Muslim world that hatred is one of our cherished values.
Truly "exceptional," America. Stand up and be proud.
p.s. If I read the above rightly, it appears that the Iraqis, at least, do not harbor the same delusions as Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, and some of the posters on this board that somehow America has "apologized" for this video.
But maybe now would be the time.
Sorry to burst your patting yourselves on the back bubble, but facts really suck when you're a lying dem:
polled %
Democrat 38
Republican 28
Independent 32
Other 1
Total 100
REGISTERED VOTERS September 2012
Democrat 37
Republican 28
Independent 34
Other 1
Total 100
If you polled 38 Republican and 28 Dem Romney would be winning in a land slide. Skewed sampling for a skewed result, go back and retry your lies, Obama's out if he's only 5 points ahead and polling 10% higher dems than repubs. Liars and cheats, nothing new from the liberal media, just watch them when Romney wins.."How is this possible, we faked the data The Obama should have won."
Anna Molly,
I dont agree with the video the assclown made but now you are going to knock free speech? Honestly, who gives a sh-t of some nut job extremist muslims are offended? We need to stop pandering to this group of animals. They play us like a fiddle. Name one other group that goes around cutting off heads and blowing up buildings everytime they feel offended.
Also, do you really think this is all a protest over a movie that was made in July? That is all a front for a cordinated attack on the anniversary of 9/11. Stop buying into the liberal medias bs.
Yes, that's why every major poll shows Obama ahead by about 5.
While I don't know if there are 37% Democrat registered voters in this country, I know that there's no way there's an even number of Democrat and Republican registered voters.
That was fun! FormerGOP lapdog, only now I will be hearing that tune in my head everytime I see Romney on the tube.
jody @ 1.66 -- I have made her comment bold.
Is Egypt an ally or not?
Yes, Egypt is an ally by law. Are you advocating that the President again choose to fail to enforce laws as he has chosen to do previously?
Think about it. Not long ago, conservatives were ranting about the fact that the Egyptians elected a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood.
And the events of this week demonstrate that the conservatives were correct.
The truth is simple, if we bother to look at the facts, President Obama is correct--at this point in Egypt's fledgling democracy, we do not know which way it will lean.
He is not correct. The law of the land says he is wrong.
Egypt is not our enemy as Obama stated but we have yet to learn whether or not it remains an ally.
The law says they are our ally. How long do we have to wait for this administration to get their act together? After the Letterman show? After the Beyonce fund raiser?
Common sense should tell everyone that, including Romney.
Romney had and has the common sense to speak the truth. He does not need polling data to facilitate his decisions.
Joe in Albany
looks like Joe went from the denial stage to the acceptance stage already.
Obama 2012/Romney 1040
There you go again Xabre, referencing math and statistics! Please stop it!
Chris, Fiesty, Anna Molly, xabre, haggisbingo, kabeetoys, jodie, starsailing and black cat, and all the rest of you forward thinking people out there(you know who you are). If they are going to try to tag Obama with the Carter comparison then I say we start the meme that Romney is the new Dukakis(and yes, I know he was a dem). After all, he had his "riding in a tank with an ill-fitting helmet moment" the other day. So everytime you see them say "Carter" just say "Dukakis" right back at them. Remember, Dukakis got creamed.
There was a guy who ran with the motto, "More business in government, less government in business." His name was Herbert Hoover. The GOP has had its three strikes with all pro-business, anti-middle-class White Houses - we had a total collapse in 1929, a very bad collapse in 1992, and a near total disaster in 2008. GOP policies and economic theory do not work.
The only argument I see here is that "Obama is not fixing things fast enough." Actually, they made that argument against FDR in 1936, and against Bill Clinton in 1996, and both times it didn't work. When the choice is between economic collapse and slow recovery, slow recovery wins out.
Look how similar Bob Dole's campaign speech is to Romney's:
"...economic growth has been anemic; and, if you accept the Clinton Administration's own projections, the economy will struggle along at 2.3% growth into the next century. (Source: Dr. J. Stiglitz, White House Press Briefing, July 18, 1996). Wages and incomes for working Americans are stagnant. Families are being squeezed by rising taxes. Businesses are choking on government regulation.
"This is the fundamental reality of the Clinton economy--high taxes and stagnant wages. This is the key to middle-class anxiety. It is why people feel they are working harder, but falling further behind; why they believe the current generation won't be as successful as the last generation; why they believe their children will be worse off; why they feel so anxious about their economic future.
"The Clinton Administration has accepted the notion that paltry growth is the best we can achieve. Under Bill Clinton, we have entered a new era of diminished expectations--an era when we are told that we can't even match the progress of the past, much less compete with the most dynamic economies in the world."
I just bought a new car, my little web biz is doing great and my day job is still here. This country is Magnificent and I am thankful! I don't give credit to the president or any other politician but I like the guy and think he should stay for 4 more. Hasn't been as gloomy as Repubs and Fox said it would be so the positive is even more positive and I think the family and I will go out for seafood today! Cheers and have a great weekend all!
Phinephancy ......was certainly a courageous lady to spend some of her remaning time of her life posting her comments in hope for a better world. Her voice is duely noted and her memories live on with those who share her ideals!
Vote Phinephancy 2012!
And so, tell me again, why do they want to attack us in the first place?
It still gets you to the same answer.
See what I mean?
Republicans.
LoL I've actually heard that comparison made, involving a tin foil tank and helmet.
The video cannot be too far behind. Maybe they'll have him sing "America" as the tank rolls over the rubble in Afghanistan.
Hi everyone! Good Morning!
You are all tools and full of partisan rhetoric to be smart enough to vote!
Thanks,
Someone who thinks media is a joke.
P.S. I would not vote for Obama or Romney... both your parties suck the BIG ONE.
Romneyismynightmare,
The only thing I would add is, Willard refused to put on the helmet!
He didn't want to mess up the hair he glues on... ;o)

try yelling "fire" in a crowded room and see what happens or try joining a hate group and speek freely about your hate and get back to me.
There is a reason why there are exceptions to the 1st Amendment:
Speech that involves incitement, false statements of fact, obscenity, child pornography, threats, and speech owned by others are all completely exempt from First Amendment protections.
This stupid movie had one objective and one objective only: to promote the anti-Islam propaganda.
Tell me, what would your response be if someone in the Middle East made a movie about Jesus as a philanderer or gay, child molester, blood-thirsty, a thug? Would you call that a freedom of speech as well? Or does it apply only to things YOU agree with?
"Rmoney" can't wait for the debates????
TOP 10 "LIES" THAT ROMNEY WILL REFUTE TO "WIN" THE DEBATES
1) Mitt tax sheltered his money in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, even while America was fighting two unfunded Bush wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mitt will disprove this by releasing his tax returns on national television.
2) Mitt was the CEO responsible for outsourcing jobs to foreign countries while at Bain Capital. Mitt will prove he didn't receive income from Bain for this by releasing his tax returns on national television.
3) Mitt, and his wealthy cronies and contributors, would personally benefit from Mitt's own policies of granting more tax breaks to millionaires. Mitt will disprove this by releasing his tax returns on national television.
4) Mitt bullied another kid at his exclusive prep school. Mitt will disprove this by releasing his tax returns on national television.
5) Ann Romney isn't just a regular stay at home mom with four full time paid assistants that Mitt paid for himself. Mitt will disprove this by releasing his tax returns on national television.
6) Mitt isn't concerned about the unemployed, under-employed, and those on food stamps. Mitt will disprove this by reciting his opposition to extended unemployment benefits, job training programs, and food stamps, and by releasing his tax returns on national television.
7) Mitt is bought and paid for by the same corporate banking elements that were responsible for the current economic meltdown. Mitt will disprove this by releasing his tax returns on national television showing that none of those people have paid him or supported him.
8) Mitt's supported by religious zealots that make inflammatory films depicting religious leaders as pedophiles and philanderers. Mitt will disprove this by cloaking despicable actions as "freedom of speech" and will then release his tax returns on national television.
9) Mitt doesn't have the foreign policy expertise to be President. Mitt will insult the British, Chinese and Muslims everywhere, and then, to prove that he supports Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, Mitt will release his tax returns on national television.
10) Mitt strapped a dog on top of his car for a 300 mile trip. Mitt will disprove this allegation by strapping his tax returns to the top of his car and allowing the wind to disperse them over a 300 mile stretch of Ohio.
The Republican path to victory is clear....release the tax returns!
Anna Molly,
Cute response. Please provide some proof of Republicans going into the streets and stiring up violence when they are offended. How am I wrong when I say we are pandering to a group of extremists?
We will miss you Phine......And it sure is a shame that the thread was started calling for a moment of silence
which was instantly interrupted by the usual vitriol...........And to No jo and the other righty, why can't you
post your own thoughts ? You are just pasting the prepared comments from the right-wing comment fishing
pond site............When you two right for yourselves it is never that well thought out..........Like when
Romneyhood speaks the thoughts from his neo-con advisers..........And you tried to blame North Korea on
a hacker.......If you righties were smart enough to hack you would......But anybody clever enough to do
something like that is not a member of the GOP....How could they be a member of the party featuring
Malkin and Hannity as spokespeople and candidates like Bachmann and Allen West ?
Irish 21 ---------Timothy McViegh sure stirred up violence on the street and he was a right-wing extremist
who would fit right into the tea-party(They are republicans aren't they ?) and last I checked the right-wing
is the side the GOP fits into....
Oh no! I too am saddened to learn that Phinephancy passed.
I remember once she shared how her granddaughter had come across the posts on First Read and the little girl was shocked at the hatred and contempt that grownups had for the opposing side and fellow posters. It was a teachable moment for some of us. As I look through the scroll today. Some could still learn that valuable lesson.
Thank you to a friend I was never able to meet. Peace to her family.
@ bayllie --
Spot on. None of the rights secured by the Constitution are absolute.
ALL are subject to reasonable regulation, depending on what interests are involved and how those interests balance.
"Fire" in a crowded theater is exactly the right example. That's not allowed.
Guns in crowded theaters, however.
Well, we can't do anything about that, can we, or we'll have ... horror of horrors ... SOCIALISM.
So, people will just have to die for Irish 21's right to make lunatic, hateful rants.
Innocent people, as it turned out in this case. Good people doing valuable work, and not just "nut job extremists."
But that's merely the price we pay for the right to hate.
After all, Mitt Romney said so.
People protesting=Freedom----------People shooting RPG's at embassy equals terrorism.
Iraq.
Every which way. The demonstrators don't seem to think we are pandering to anyone.
Apparently, they didn't get Romney's memo.
Bayllie,
My response wouldnt be to storm and embassy and kill people. Did you see catholics killing people when the Virgin Mary was painted in feces? Stop trying to compare the two groups.
I agree with you on the movie that this clown made. I am not trying to defend the movie but to say these violent protests are all the result is bs. They are using that as a front to attack americans. The same can be said about the pastor and his group of wack jobs that protest outside of military funerals, why are they not shut down for hate speech? I am trying to point out that free speech is being trampled and alot of free speech offends people at times. Just look at these boards. We all sit here and argue about which party is better and insults are thrown around. Even though we all seem to take a side in the end we are all Americans and we are given the right to free speech.
Ridglon,
You really need to study how polling works. You first look at the actual # of registered voters in a state which are an available statistic compiled by each county in each state. Divide each party's total registration number by the total of all registered and in your example 38/100 would be 38%.
So 38% of registered voters would be democrats in example you cited.
In doing a poll based on 1000 voters, you would call 380 registered Democrats and ask who they will vote for, etc. The result is what we see as poll results. It is a representative sampling of the electorate as we know it and this composition changes as new voters register or change party affiliation.
I hope this helps in your understanding of polling.
No polling organization gets hired if they do bad polling. Candidates need to know where they stand in the real world. News organizations try to have the highest credibility they can. And on election day, the polling firms that really get it wrong will lose future business, and the ones that get it right will see their future business, revenue, and profits go up. This is how polling works in the real world. It is time for you to set this paranoid delusion aside or just switch the channel to a news source that does not misinform you.
Hmmmmmmm...
Anna Molly,
Iraq? Oh you mean the war that the democrats were for before they were against it? That Iraq?
The demonstraters? You mean extremists? Let me ask you, do you agree with them?
Also, point out one of my hate filled rants. Is that our way of thinking you won an argument? Claim someone is hate filled because you have a differing opinion?
Likewise, we need one who doesn't play "Sorry" with the rest of the world, and especially with the Arab States.
Still waiting to see what Obama's response is to the violence committed against two of our overseas embassies, in a three day span.
The world at large, and especially Arabic/Islamic interests, must be shown that we will not tolerate this kind of thing under any circumstances. We will surely suffer the consequences later on, if we show them any weakness / unwillingness to retaliate whatsoever.
We're waiting, Mr. Obama.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
I have never met her in person and I only "knew" her from the posts she'd written. Strangly, this morning, I thought to myself that I have not seen Phinephancy in a while and wondered how she was doing and now my question is answered :(
I hope, wherever she is, she is well, happy, and pain free. I am saddened to see that her predictions about not being here to witness the election came true. My prayers are with her and her family.
Irish-----I think Catholics have killed a few people over the years because of their religion......Maybe
you didn't get the memo.....Look up The Inquisition for just a few deaths........
Yes...like all those SEALs he sent over to apologize to Osama bin Laden. Anyone know, did Mr bin Laden ever accept the apology? Or does Obama need to apologize some more? I am not clear on that one.
There's no way to appease a radical. Pretty much everyone knows it. There's no way Obama is ever going to be able to appease a Muslim radical, not after he knocked off their patron saint. Pretty much everyone except Obama's critics knows that.
Z-Man------I guess you guys think raids and drone attacks in several sovereign countries " Over there " is playing sorry?
Because if you are citing Hannity and the information machine for dumb people's(Fox News) attacks against our President for " Apologizing to the world " or " Going on an apology tour " you are just one more sad soul.
N Ireland
Answer the question I asked you. Why do they want to attack us?
Is it something in the water? What?
Of course, not. That's just the stereotype you want to lay on me. But neither do I agree with extremist Faux Christian right-wing views. I certainly don't agree with the person who made the video. Neither do I agree with views you've expressed in your posts -- e.g., that Muslims are "animals" -- any more than right-wing extremists.
I just did, or is it considered good manners where YOU come from to call people YOU don't agree with "animals"?
These are the attitudes that polarize and cause violence. What is there about this that you can't see?
You're entitled to spread hatred all you want. But all freedoms have consequences. I'm asking you to do is to take responsibility for the consequences.
In this case, Chris Stevens and 3 other very fine Americans were the consequences.
Is that the price you want the rest of us to pay for YOUR freedom?
Just say so.
SW Philly,
You have to go back the 12th century? That is my point! I was raised catholic but you wont see me using religion as a reason to kill people. Things are said everyday about catholics and you dont see people burning buildings, suicide bombs and beheadings over it.
Anna Molly
we should not even need the Supreme Court to decide what to exclude from the 1st Amendmend. Common sense, and respect for others' beliefs should be enough. I have no idea why human being have an issue with other people's religions (or no religion).
As Christians, we have been trying to force our beliefs on others for a thousand years now: with the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Reformation, the Witch Hunts, the Christian Identity Movement, the Holocaust.
The superiority complex will never end, will it?
That sounds like something Usama bin Laden said. HINT: Don't wait in the same place for very long....
You beat me to it with your own words Byron.........
The misshandling of Obama in the Meddle East crisis, that end with the killing of our Ambassador and 2 Marines , and an apology to them , show the credentials of our Campaigner in Chief. Where was our president when the corps of our Amasador was brutally murder. Obama did not answer the 3 AM call, but who cares , there was celebration with Obama in Las Vegas. But inexplicably Obama lead in some polls, even his job aproval remain historicly low, interesting times, we live, chickens come home to roost.
Anna Molly
I noticed that, too. Romney apparently thinks hate speech is an American value, because the statement by the US embassy in Egypt that Romney attacked was simply a condemnation of hate speech. I wonder if Romney also thinks anti-Jewish and anti-Christian hate speech are American values, too, or if he's limiting it only to anti-Islamic hate speech.
Irish----I knew you didn't get " That memo" I was just citing " One " example like you asked for.....And saying the 12th Century alone wouldn't be entirely accurate even for that one.....
Anna Molly,
Why do they want to attack us? Who the hell knows.......they will use any excuse to attack our way of life and they use religion as the reason to do it.
Animals. Yes the extremist muslims are just that. Killing people who dont agree with you or that dont believe in your religion is savage.
And I am not laying any stereotype on you, I was asking an honest question. Why does that offend you? You claim that I am hate filled and spreading hate but if i ask you a simple question you want to say that I am stereotyping.
I am not spreading hate at all. I can say the same for people that dont see things my way but I wont do that because everyone is entitled to their opinions.
Can you explain to us how you would have done better? Not the vague "Oh I will reduce taxes." Because Obama reduced taxes, or "I will remove regulation", because lack of regulation is what got us in the mess in the first place. Or Mitt Romney's plan, which adds an additional 5 trillion of debt.
Let's hear some specifics. How do you think you can do better?
Screaminglib---------I really didn't think I had to mention that one which goes on till this day, but as you see I was chastised about going back to the " 12th century" Haaaa.....But you can't use facts on these people....They just run away or change the subject if you do...
Byron---see post 1.141 about republicans and facts....
SW Philly,
I agree with you and I pointed out one example you used. Like I said earlier, I am a Catholic but you wont see me standing up on a soap box puting others down and using my religion as a reason. I dont agree with extremist in the Christian religion just like I dont agree with them in the Muslim religion or any other religion. We have all seen what happens when religion is used as a starting point for violence. This past week is an example of that.
And please point out where I have changed the subject on you. You stated a fact and I commented on it.
If Obama gets elected to a second term (gasp) just think of the mess he will inherit this time! Slimey snakes are trying like hell to get felons to vote, but not worrying about the military.
Romney/Ryan 2012 the end of an error!
Pretty much everyone knows. They want to attack us because they think that we are responsible for the harshness of life they have suffered under brutal dictators.
There is a kernel of truth in there, because we have supported many of these dictators in the past.
In general, the dictators have used America as a convenient enemy in order to maintain their grip on their people. "See, the reason that you are poor is because America is keeping you poor, me I am on your side."
Religion only has something to do with insofar as the oppressed are mostly Muslim and Americans are mostly not.
The "Big Book of Allies" must have been checked out of the Library.
Maybe that's why Mitt Romney didn't know that Russia is no longer our "top geopolitical foe."
Oh, well, if we're going back to the 12th Century, it's important to remember who invaded where.
And maybe the next step back would be to the Romans.
But unlike Republicans, the Romans didn't invade countries because they were offended. They invaded because they were greedy.
Or wait ....
First Read:
What First Read means is that Obama's approach to foreign policy was once again effective, even though it gave some political pundits some fodder to chew on about "walking back" something that he did not walk back. Other than beltway pundits, who cares that Obama's warning shot in the direction of the Egyptian leader that he didn't consider Egypt an ally doesn't conform to the official State Department position? It WORKED.
Even with the election less than two months away, Obama is worried more about America than he is about his political fortunes, which is the only thing that interests Mitt Romney and, apparently, the punditocracy, including First Read.
Byron,
I agree with you. The "who the hell knows" was kind of saying that they will use anything to attack us. I am not saying that America is perfect and history has proven that. Gets frustrating that we have to be the worlds police and stick our noses in every issue abroad. We are asking for trouble.
Anna Molly,
But unlike Republicans, the Romans didn't invade countries because they were offended. They invaded because they were greedy.
So Democrats arent greedy? They havent been involved in any wars? Interesting.
Godspeed Phine, You will be missed by all of your friends here on FR.
I borrowed the posting below from a Feisty post from long ago. Thanks for the loan Feisty.
I see.
Well, a few examples of non-Muslim religious killings have been put forth here. Northern Ireland is a good one. And then there were the wars over divorce when Henry VIII split from the Catholic Church. And then, of course, we had Christians slaughtering Mayans, Aztecs, Incas, and American Indians, too, in order to "tame" the "savage."
Savage, indeed. But let's just say that Christians have more than a little blood on their hands.
And as I said above, when we're talking about Muslim hatred for Christians, just remember the Crusades, and who invaded whom. I wonder what happens to world history if Christians had just left them alone, or maybe gone to the Holy Lands offering peace instead of death.
All of that death for ideas we don't even know to be true.
But it's hardly just Muslims.
Name a war started by a Democrat, other than Vietnam, which really began under Eisenhower.
Democrats are usually just called in to clean up someone else's mess.
Anna Molly you ignore the news, look around the Muslim world, the Embassy's of Germany and other Europeans countries are under siege for a mod of violent Muslims, PM. award the Danish Cartoonist that provoke similar protest in ME. Liberals comment base on ideology , not facts. The media bias hide the news that don't support their twisted ideology.
California Tom (Comment #1.17)
Romney walks funny - 'course, he's tryin' to hold a silver dollar between his bum cheeks. Someone musta tole him it would improve his deportment!
Farewell Phinephancy, Your voice of reason will be missed . Your suffering is over and my prayers are with your Family. Farewell. C.J. Reding
Irish21 --
You really don't get it. Yes, you're entitled to your opinion, but if you are going to call people animals, like you did, and say the sick things about them that the video said, then you have to be prepared to take the consequences and stop trying to shift the blame to others.
Words cut, Irish.
What would YOU do if someone called YOU an animal -- not just once, but over and over again -- and said the other things that were said in that video about you, just because you're Catholic?
@California Tom - Thank you! These stories keep saying how Romney can't wait for the debates?!?! WHY!? The debates are what he should be the most scared about. He got eaten alive half the time by the likes of Larry, Moe & Curly. What makes him think he can come out of a debate with one of the greatest public speakers our nation has ever seen, on top??? To me, Romney has to either be in a tie or in a leaf before the debates or this election is a done deal.
P.S. - Is this not the longest #1 post in FR history. Can we reach #1.200 without being collapsed?
Irish 21
most us wouldn't either so what is your point? Neither did most citizens of Egypt. But there are plenty of American citizens that behave just like what YOU criticize:
On Aug 6, firefighters and police were called to a blaze at the Islamic Center in Joplin, Missouri – where around 125 members of the local Muslim community pray
Shots Fired On Mosque: On August 10, David Conrad fired two pellet-gun shots on the outer wall of a Morton Grove, IL mosque while about 500 people were inside observing evening prayers for Ramadan.
Acid Bomb Attack At School: On August 12, an acid bomb was thrown into Muslim school in Lombard, IL
Molotov Cocktail Thrown Into Muslim Home: In the middle of the night on August 15, a firebomb was thrown at a Muslim home in Panama City, FL
THIS IS JUST IN AUGUST and there are more examples so please don't give me this holier-than-thou attitude.
Again, you did not answer: if Jesus was portrayed as a child molester, would you call that free speech?
BTW, the Christian Right cannot even deal with birth control or the word "vagina" without behaving like idiots. The Republicans would not allow a college student to testify in front of them about birth control. Limbaugh called her a slut and a prostitute and Romney, the coward that he is, did not publicly criticize Limbaugh for speaking about someone's daughter that way.
As a Christian, you are supposed to show tolerance and understanding of the fact that others deserve equal respect regardless who their God is. As a Christian, you should distance yourself from the hateful propaganda that Terry Jones - so called "pastor" is putting out there.
Or maybe, the Crusades? The Inquisitions?
Anna Molly,
I am in no way defending catholics and I am not saying they have not started any wars. You may have a point if they chose to bring peace instead of war. However, we cant change history and we can guess all we want but it wont change. I dont need to tell you that. You seem to have alot of hattred for Christians and seem to think they are the cause of the all of the problems through out history.
As far as wars.......
World War I - Woodrow Wilson - Democrat
World War II - FDR - Democrat
Korean War - Truman - Democrat
Bay of Pigs - Kennedy - Democrat
Vietnam War - LBJ - Democrat
Grenada - Reagan - Republican
Persian Gulf War - Bush - Republican
Bosnia and Herzegovina - Clinton - Democrat
War on Terror - Bush - Republican
I just hope all of Phine's wishes come true that she worked so hard for, my heart goes out to her family and her friends !!!!!!!!!!!!
As I recall it, I am the only one here today who HAS posted facts about the current protests. So, if there's a point hiding in your comment, other than a general complaint about liberals and intent to deflect, I can't find it. Sorry.
Anna Molly
Irish claims that he/she would never act by killing/attacking someone (and I believe her/him - most of us wouldn't). But I find people like Irish very hypocritical because while ctiticizing those who got angry because their God was portayed as a pervert and a child molester, he/she stays silent about all the violent acts committed on the US soil against those who are not Christian.
My point is, if you are going to be outraged by violence, be outraged by all violence even if committed on US soil to those who speak a different language, pray to a different God, or even look different.
Let's not forget the seven people who were shot and killed at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., in what officials are treating as a case of domestic terrorism back in August.
Memo to Mitt Romney:
A closed mouth gathers no feet.
Now I've herd it all from John McPain! "We are being attacked for leaving the Middle East and for being weak." Da, did John ever hear of three wars in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. With trying to be the world's police man go consequences for our country. Think twice or three times before you get us to go into Syria and Iran! Oh, the price tag for those three wars is now estimated at $7,000,000,000,000. That is almost half of our deficit!
Bayllie,
How am I being hypocritical by condeming violence on fellow Americans that were doing their job? Did I say it was great that the piece of garbage in Oak Creek killed people because of their religion? No. We are talking about the killings that happened this week.
And how do you know I am not outraged by the violence that goes on everyday in our country or across the world? Because you say I am not? If thats the case then please look into your crystal ball and tell me the lottery numbers.
Sigh. Go back and read my post.
World Wars I and II, and the war in Bosnia/Herzegovina all started without us. World War I and Bosnia, we went to the aid of people who were being slaughtered innocently. We could hardly have ignored Pearl Harbor. Korea and Vietnam both began with incursions by China, to which we reacted out of self-interest. Vietnam did not start under Lyndon Johnson. It started under Eisenhower.
I'll give you Bay of Pigs, but that could hardly be called a war.
Afghanistan was justified, but Bush neglected it, causing the need for a surge, and left the mess for President Obama to fix.
Iraq I began with an invasion, but Bush 41 was not up to finishing the job, which ultimately led to Iraq II.
Iraq II is solely and completely on Bush 43's hands, and had nothing to do with necessity.
Granada? Well.
You've included Bay of Pigs but left out Beirut. I wonder why.
Pretty amusing how every time the polls favor Democrats the wingnuts start whining about oversampling. EVERY TIME the same education needs to be done. Apparently Conservatives are resistant to education, but let's try it again...
First of all, with RANDOM CALLING you have no way to know in advance what your sample will look like. For that reason the results are trued up using weighted averages. From Gallup;
http://www.gallup.com/poll/101872/how-does-gallup-polling-work.aspx
Previously I've posted similar links to NYT and other polling services that state essentially the same thing...none of which will stop the Conservative whining, because for some reason FACTS never seem to agree with what the Right understands as "truth."
Anna Molly,
You can toss Beirut in there. Point being that both parties are responsible. I was just putting up figures for you. WWI and II were not wars that could have been avoided. I am not going to go through the entire list but it goes with my earlier post in saying that America acts as the world police and in my opinion we need to keep our noses out of some conflicts and wars. Looking back at what I posted though it blows my mind that we have been in some type of war or conflict for the last 100 years regardless of which party is running the show.
Obama's response/non-response to the ME "Arab Spring-Summer-Fall-Winter" continuation of attacks on Americans, and other allies:
-----------------------ADVANTAGE: Romney.
Talk about shooting first before aiming, the Secretary of the State, along with this administration, blamed the "video" for the intrusion into the Egyptian embassy and the killing of consulate members in Libya even though an investigation has not been completed. Fingers point to 9/11 anniversary INSTEAD of some stupid video.
Bottom line: wait until all the FACTS are given before making an International Crisis decision and announcing to the World disclaiming the "video".
Flashback: "Trayvon Martin could have been my son" BEFORE and substantial facts were given by any investigative source, BEFORE any charges were filed, and BEFORE any jury made a decision on who was guilty.
Make that the entire history of the world.
You asked whether I hate Christians. I don't respect those I consider to be phony Christians, no. I'm not a big fan of any religion in particular, but Christianity as Christ Himself taught it is actually pretty attractive. Pity that it is not followed. Heck, some fundamentalists don't even consider you to BE a Christian, Irish. Like Mormons, just a cult.
To emphasize my point and make it clear, however, all I am saying is that a significant percentage of all the wars fought in the history of the world -- and consequently the deaths caused by those wars -- were caused by religious intolerance -- on both sides. And OUR supposed side has started quite a few of those wars.
But for what?
RedVirgina,
When a Danish cartoonist had his mocking portrayal of Mohammed spread around the world, there were also widespread protests, riots, and murders in the Muslim world. These Muslim rioters are hotheads spurred on by some of their religious leaders as they have yet to learn that religious intolerance (when aimed at Mohammed) is not prohibited in our society as it is in theirs. Our freedom of speech should be tempered by our freedom of religion which in practice works because of our reliance on religious tolerance.
You are blaming the wrong person here. It is the wacko, hate-filled extremists of Christianity that intentionally try to provoke hothead Muslims into venting their rage in these angry and sometimes violent outbursts we are seeing in the Middle East.
The real villains here are those that spew hatred such as Terry Jones and that filmmaker, and those Muslims who choose to react with violence aimed at the symbol of America in their countries. Most Muslims are not happy about the vilification of their prophet (their Jesus), but they are for the most part not happy with the violent reaction they see in their Muslim world.
Like the riots that followed the Danish cartoon, this round of rage will end soon. Try condemning the hatemongers among us who find joy in this latest round of rage.
Anna Molly,
See that we can find some common ground. I think hell just froze over. That only took the better half of 3 hours or so. I think we can both agree that using religion as a means to start a war or incite violence is stupid.
Devie,
Thank you SO much for not only keeping that, but for posting it!
It's a perfect tribute to our dear friend Phine!
Romney is screwed. His only hope was to criticize the current administration's inability to repair the damage done to the economy by the previous administration quickly enough. Resorting to the traditional Republican strategy of pandering to the voters by promising a tax cut was undercut by the House Republicans making an issue of the deficit prior to Romney becoming their candidate. Promising to reduce the deficit in addition to cutting taxes logically leads to the question "How are you going to do both simultaneously?" Now that his strategy of pure criticism in the absence of any policy has failed and he is trailing in the polls, there is nothing that he can do to salvage his campaign. Any details regarding what he would actually do if elected to achieve these two incompatible objectives would be quickly revealed to be unworkable. Now his campaign is grasping at straws, hoping the debates can turn things around. Romney's attempts to defend indefensible positions in the debates will reveal him to be the empty suit that he is, and Obama will only widen his lead. My only fear is that his coattails will not be sufficient to clear out the obstructionists in the House and Senate and that we are in for another four years of legislative gridlock, to the detriment of the economy and the country.
Irish, muslim extremists do not represent muslims any more than the ku klux klan represents Americans. You are free to hate the actual terrorists all you want, but dragging innocent people into into your little circle of hate just because they are muslims is the essence of hate crime.
Indeed, we can, Irish. And thank you for the exchange. If I offended you in any way, I'm sorry.
You were a very good sport. (smiles) Hope to spar with you again.
the last time the GOP found itself in this position, it trotted out joe the plumber and "pals around with terrorists" in a display of ultimate contempt for the intelligence of the voting public. I fully expect them to go down the same slimy path this time around and with the same result. Obama wins by default. There are only so many people stupid enough to buy into crap like joe the plumber; not nearly enough to win an election.
Anna Molly,
I will be here for round 2, 3,4-100 with you. I am sorry if I offended you at all, but I guess it goes with the terroritory with politics and religion. Cheers to you. We got off on a rocky start with the usual insults or slights but I think we both used some good resources to back our stances on the issues, even if some was personal opinions.
Republicans think this may be like the Carter/Reagan election of 1980. But -- it's not even close to the same. Carter ran against real candidate with real ideas, a candidate who had a backbone, a candidate with a core, a candidate who knew what he believed in. Romney is NONE if that. Romney has no ides, no core, no convictions, no backbone. Romney will take any position on any issue depending on who he is talking to at the time. Just last Sunday he has 3 positions on Obama-care. He went from wanting to repeal ALL of it, to wanting to keep SOME of it then back to repealing ALL of it. He wants to outlaw abortion in ALL cases except when he wants to allow it in SOME cases. He backtracks, he spins, he lies, he lies about lying, he flips, he flops. He's not fit to be president of my homeowners association, much less president of the US.
As for you Joe Mota,
Get off your soap box, pal. If you would follow the conversation that I had with Anna Molly you would have a clue about what you are talking about.
And dont start talking about campaigns being full of lies. When are people going to realize that every single politician is a liar? Not one of them is looking out for our best interest. That ship sailed many years ago.
Dukakaromney
I really hope America is paying attention this week. I hope people are seeing how deluded, weak and irresponsible this president really is. I hope people can see through his flowery words and realize the lack of substance to this man.
Today is about his failure in foreign policy. He backed the Libyan protesters (Al Quada and the Muslim Brotherhood...which are one in the same) and look where that got us. His Secretary of State failed to properly prepare our embassies to defend themselves on the anniversery of 9/11. Anyone who thinks this is about the film, which has been out for months, is sadly buying into the spin put on by the press.
And what does this failure as a president and a leader do? Him, and his administration, continue to apologize to muslims and murderers. They continue to state that we will support them. They continue to defend these atrocities.
Obama has not done his job. He has repeatedly missed security meetings in favor of campaigning. While our Ambassador to Libya was being sodomized and dragged through the streets, Obama wasn't on the phone decrying those horrors, he was in Las Vegas at a campaign stop hobnobbing with celebrities. His administration didn't come out and release a statement for many hours. He failed to take quick action and now the arab world is seeing that weakness and in all out revolt.
He has failed on employment, he has failed on the economy, on gas prices, on budgets, on curbing spending, on every level of leadership and he should go immediately. Please...pay attention people...a second term for this failure would be disasterous.
Fiesty (post 1.1)
YEP, Romney should have just said nothing, like Obama, and went on a fund raising trip to Las Vegas, like Obama. NOT!
This will go down at the seminal moment when the Press was exposed as the sycophantic enablers in the Media have shown their true colors. Does ANYONE believe if Bush was President, and ducked the Media to fly to Las Vegas on a fund raising trip, that the media wouldn't be howling with indignation. Instead, the media is on tape "conspiring" to develop "gotcha" questions to try to catch Romney in a bad light, sort of like George Stephanopolis' totally bizarre question during the Republicans debates about the abortion rights, trying desperately to launch a "gotcha" type situation to help spur the Democrats "War on Women" campaign.
Interesting that the one of Obama's first acts was to discontinue the term "Global War On Terrorism", replacing it with Overseas Contingency Operations, but Obama is happy to use the term War On Women.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
No, the administration has not had an active policy since the extension of the payroll tax cut. And even then. that wasn't a major economic move (in my opinion). The reason why the economy is in the straits is because there has been no major economic policy move made to jump-start the economy. And the reason for that is because of the Republican-inspired gridlock in Congress. You cannot fix the economy without Congress, and currently Congress is in chaos. If the Republicans passed the Jobs Act, demand and job creation would be higher than it is today. And by the way, you cannot create jobs by cutting taxes; if so, the Bush tax cuts would have led to 12 years of broad economic expansion. Romney's plan would create no economic expansion; quite frankly, it would blow a hole in the deficit and give trillions of dollars to the wealthiest Americans.
Enough with the inflation crap. Inflation has been at or below 2% EVEN AFTER the Fed did QE1 and QE2. And we do understand supply and demand; supply is high but demand is low. That is why quantitative easing will hopefully increase employment to increase demand and help the economy. And in case you haven't noticed, high inflation is a hard thing to make in a liquidity trap. And inflation can be good, for it can increase demand if applied correctly. Our focus should not be about whether inflation is going to come to our shores; the evidence doesn't support that it will. Our focus should be on getting back to full employment. In a perfect world, that would mean expansionary monetary and fiscal policy. But given the current political climate, we should at least look at monetary policy; even Ronald Reagan used it to goose the economy.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
I hope that our government will find out who made that provocative movie that caused the deaths of ambassadorial staff and buildings so that they can be charged with complicity in multiple deaths and destruction of so much property,as well as deliberately endangering the lives of Westerners throughout the Middle East. It was a deliberate provocation and in my opinion should earn the culprit the death penalty.
Today's poll shows Romney ahead, 47-44 precentile. Romney will win.
New NBC/WSJ/Marist polls:? Hahahahaha Wall Street Corporate Controlled Media Polls Of 23 Democrats Say Obama Is Ahead Slightly!

How about those tax returns romney-hood!!
romney thy name be hypocrisy
The Realclearpolitics.com average of polls has an interesting dichotomy - Rasmussen shows Romney ahead by 2%, Gallup has the race about even among Likely Voters, yet most of the others have Obama ahead by about 4%. So who's right, and why the disparity?
Actually, the differences are quite easy to explain - consider this;
Most of the polls include about 30% more Democrats than Republicans in their sample, which results in about a 5% overall advantage for Obama if they are correct. But are they correct? - this is where the difference in polls is explained completely - these pollsters assume that the total number of people who self-identify as Democrats is about 30% higher than Republicans - which is much more than the 21% advantage that Democrats enjoyed in the 2008 election - when Democrats enjoyed a historic advantage.
Rasmussen does monthly surveys to determine the actual spread of voters between Republicans and Democrats, and their latest result is 37.6% Republicans vs 33.3% Democrats (the rest self-identify as Independents). This accounts for the entire difference between the pollsters since party affiliated voters historically vote party-line about 90% of the time (per exit polls in 2004 and 2008).
The REAL question is "Who is right in estimating the % of Democrats vs Republicans?"
To answer this question, consider this - Is it realistic that the number of people that consider themselves Democrats would be significantly higher now than in 2008 when they enjoyed a record high? Or is it more realistic to think that the split between the Parties is about equal now, especially considering the Republican blowout in the 2010 Mid-Term elections?
Your response to those questions should tell you which polls are more realistic.
Never any doubt in my mind. Obama is an excellent president. Quite a few republicans have a problem over the race issue. Get over it. Obama has done well. Sanity in an insane World centered around greed and profit. Keep us out of wars and invest in America or else we will lose our great Nation.
Obama and surrogates response to the continuation of the "Arab Spring-Fall-Winter-Summer", the intrusion into our embassies, and killing of Americans in our Libya consulate......blame the coordinated attack(s) on a book, Romney, or the weather.
How is that "appeasement" coming along ?
Advantage---------------------------------ROMNEY.
Another reason to NOT have a community-organizer in the White House.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Voted for Mr. Obama in 2008 ? Embarrassed yet ?
Romney-Ryan 2012 to take back America from the Progressives and the Radicals.
Last time I heard government was made up and is intended to serve the community that votes for the candidate. Don't quite understand how Ido would run a country otherwise. community-organizer is what the White House is supposed to do.
It’s The Economy …
So now Mitt Romney has decided he is going to give a major foreign policy speech. He and his advisors believe there is a big opportunity to demonstrate that he will be better for our country in this arena.
With Romney losing ground in key battle states he feels that he must address a wider range of presidential responsibilities in order to draw-in more of the very few undecided voters.
The risk is that he may stretch his messages too thin and voters will perceive this as desperation.
Isn't that funny Dennis, that Romney is going to grace us with his take on foreign policy?
Every time he opens his mouth, he demonstrates yet again, how little he knows, and how unsuitable he is for POTUS.
The only one that doesn't get that? Romney.
As Jon Huntsman said today … this should be very interesting because I have no idea what is foreign policy is.
I’m not sure even Romney does.
Right on Dennis: Romney does not know much about foreign policy so he will have to rely on those who gave him advice to shoot, then aim. I suspect his speech will reveal his lack of knowledge when it comes to foreign affairs.
Romney team is desperate and Romney talking about foreign policy is like Bush talking about foreign policy. Wonder if he will talk about a preemptive strike everywhere in the middle East.
Dennis, Columbus, Ohio
If it sounds like Bolton, I suggest you start practicing duck and cover
Good Morning Dennis -- The neocons are pushing him hard. They're beating their drums as we speak.
The air of desperation emanating from the Romney campaign is growing denser with each passing day. They are swatting and sweating about every topic that hits the airwaves, flailing in the hopes they'll get a hit.....but it is constantly swing and miss. Now they have decided they will take a big stick and swing at foreign policy, oh, they are great talkers but all the bluster in the world won't bring any level of confidence to the average voter who witnessed their disgraceful handling of the situation in Libya.
From all accounts I've read and heard, they got it wrong from the beginning, they give jumping the gun a whole new definition. Discussions of who may be responsible for this major faux pas, point mainly to Romney and perhaps two advisors, Romney is known to be a hands on guy, and this example doesn't make him look good. His claim this would not have happened if he'd been President, makes his actions earlier in the week look even worse. Essentially this is what Romney is all about:
What Republicans .................. do NOT care about:
☑ US Constitution
☑ Facts, Science
☑ People in General, Human Lives
☑ Children, Young, Women, Elderly, Single Mothers
☑ Middle Class, P00r, Min0rities, People of Color, Gays
☑ Equality, Human Rights, Love, Empathy, Family Values
☑ Poverty, Hunger, Homelessness
☑ Education, Deficit
☑ Equal Pay for Women
☑ Workers Right, Small Business, Agenda-Free Judges
☑ Eth!cs & !ntegr!ty, Principles
☑ Rule of L aw, Soc!al Justice
☑ Health Care for American People
☑ Tax cut for 98% of Americans
☑ Veterans, Active duty military, Firefighters
☑ Peace, The Earth, Rest of the World
☑ An!mals
------------------------------------------------------------------
➨ What Republicans .................. DO care about:
☑ Themselves
☑ Money
☑ O!L
☑ Power
☑ Wealthy
☑ White
☑ Their Party
☑ Wars
☑ Guns
Wow, we really have too much time on our hands when we write all those lines about what the Republicans wnat and what the Democrats want. I suspect Ginger can fact check all of those. That is childish and a waist.
I like animals and don't like guns, I guess that makes me an independent individual.
Ginger Bread you really are a dope.
And we've still got six more weeks of this. Isn't this election over yet? We should limit campaigning to the 3 months prior to the election, then our incumbents might actually do their jobs instead using our time trying to secure another term.
Gingerbread, you forgot "pandering to the religious right on women's healthcare issues." They care a LOT about that. That's why the Mittiot has such a huge gender gap on his hands. Most people do not want to go back to the 1950s...
Another opening for Obama
It IS desperation. They are grasping at straws now, and the dustup last Tuesday/Wednesday shows they are panicking, and not thinking things through. They look like total idiots at this point, and they ain't done yet!
Red_Cloud - that is a great idea, maybe even for a bumper sticker, may we use it in Tennessee, please? it would be one of the most acurate statements of this election!
Look at this. (h/t TOD)
A Foreign Service Officer’s Lament abt Romney: "I can quite state the rage we’re all feeling towards him ." .@Reince talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2012/… …
GB Mama
You forgot Fetuses,...republicans LOVE fetuses. Until they start sucking the government teat! Then they're just DEAD WEIGHT.
The Romney's should be going to Libya, Egypt and Yemen for their fundraisers !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting, Dennis. It seems the Romney message on the economy isn't working so now he figures he will dip his toes into foreign policy and grace us with some specifics or not. With 17 of 24 Bush advisors on his foreign policy team--including John Bolton who said we should use nuclear weapons to attack Iran--it will likely be more beating of war drums.
GBM, terrific list.
Mitt "Rmoney" Releases Key Elements of Foreign Policy Speech
1) The British don't know how to run an Olympics better than I did.
2) We like China because their workers will work for .33/day with no benefits.
3) Muslims need to accept the fact that my supporters may make movies that portray their religious leaders as pedophiles and philanderers. Freedom of Speech trumps sensitivity every time. Just ask my former prep school classmates...
4) Israel's economy is better than many Arab states, so therefore Israelis are better than Arabs.
5) Did I miss anybody???
Red_Cloud,
if it becomes popular I'll be sure everyone knows it was yours! you will be the hero of this election. Make a great t-shirt or pin too!
Rumors the film maker is a Republican from the Romney's Camp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Romney is talking with John Bolton and similar Bush era neocons. They want to declarer war on the entire Muslim world. The US public is FED UP WITH NATION BUILDING WARS in the Mid-East. My guess -- after his "foreign policy"speech, Flip-Flop Mitt's numbers will tank even faster than they have over the last 2 weeks.
That's right............ stick with what's important while the ENTIRE WORLD burns around you Barry................
Red_Cloud, now you need to make a sticker with the letter "R" in the middle of a circle with a slash through it. No on Romney, no on Ryan and no on Republican all at the same time.
where is the article on the new downgrade of our govt???? obozo and bernake, the real downgrade team.
hows it feel knowing it wasnt a tea party downgrade and they specified it was the reckless feckless spending of obozo and co!!??
what a bumbling idiot!
oh yeah carney, ACTIONABLE INTELLIGENCE? please go away you TOOL! LIAR! MURDERER!
THE SHAME! breitbart has the real stories you wont show, losers!
Romney and Ryan must realise that they have to appeal to Both their base,to keep the big bucks and the middle of the political road to have any hope of getting what they perceive as the power to rule this country. I can't see anyone ,especially of their philosophy being capable of doing that. I don't see them being so much of flip flop as attempting to run with the deer and hunt with the wolves. I do not wish them luck in their impossible task.Even with all of the loot they are receiving
Well, you hang on to that. I'll hang on to this:
...the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.
April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.
DJIA Dec 26, 2008 8515
DJIA Sep 14, 2012 13593
Dec 29, 2008 (Bloomberg) U.S. corporate earnings fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.
May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.
Who will own America, Paris Hilton or Jane Doe? All studies show that the Nation’s wealth is continuing to move to the coffers of the few with the vast majority of Americans growing poorer each day. Either Romney’s or Ryan’s plan if implemented will do little but accelerate this trend by eliminating dividends, capital gains and inheritance from taxable income. In 2010, Romney paid some 13.9% in income tax on earnings of $21.6 million with $21 million of it coming from dividends and capital gains. Under Romney’s plan his tax rate would be slashed to 2 or 3% whereas under Ryan’s plan his tax rate would be slashed to 0%. Romney’s 5 sons already enjoy a tax free income drawn from a $100 million trust fund, and if Ryan’s plan comes into effect they will never have to pay a dime in federal tax for the rest of their lives. Jane Doe will foot the bill for them as she spirals downward from house to apartment to trailer park. Paris is having her gold platter polished in anticipation of an all you can eat greenback salad.
“The Romney tax plan is Bush II on steroids. The Paul Ryan plan is Romney supersized.”
David Cay Johnston, president of Investigative Reporters & Editors
All lies....you're so full of your own deceit. NBC is so far left, they have no right hand!!!! Nasty liberals I SAY!!!
You actually believe your post...Really??!! Lost in space like Obama himself, go figure!!!
Hey blackcat, it's aways happy hour with your post "Nice"
OBAMA /2012 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spoken like a truely desperate person who knows their ship is sinking fast. LOL I love it! No, you may not borrow a life ring.
shellie -- speaking of ships -- why did the president show a russian fleet at the convention? was that a prelude to the "flexibility" he expects to have with putin if elected to a second term?
"And that's the way it is"....this week.
Despite a -1 poll dip from the GOP Convention, Mitt Romney said he's in a better place now than he was before. Let's see, 30.3 million watched Romney's speech and 35.7 million watch President Obama's. Honey Boo Boo got higher ratings that Mitt. Odd, how his mind works.
An anonymous Romney spokesman said the polls are a conspiracy. Never fear, don't panic--Rush Limbaugh is here to repeat the talking point that polls are a conspiracy to suppress the GOP vote, it's that liberal media bias. Why blame Romney and the GOP for their failures when a conspiracy theory can be invented and spread like wing-nut-butter on bread.
Mitt Romney re-embraced ObamaCare on MTP Sunday. By the time the first NFL game started, his staff had released a statement saying that he didn't mean it, he will repeal it. Trust him?!
Cheers to Nora O'Donnell for pointing out the lie Paul Ryan is. He criticizes President Obama for the automatic cuts in defense spending yet Ryan voted YES for them as part of the Budget Control Act. A YES vote by a GOPer has a little box to check that says: Honest, I really don't mean it!
Most notable, minus the inability to name anything they would do, during Ryan's interviews on CBS and ABC was "Nora, Nora, Nora, Nora...George, George, George." Straight out of the GOP SOP--when wrong and they know they are wrong, repeat the interviewers name as many times as possible.
On FOX Sarah Palin wondered how John Kerry even knew her name. Seriously, does she not remember she was the republican VP candidate in 2008 "where everybody knows your name."
GOP Rep. Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland said, "Not that it's not a good idea to give students loans, it certainly is a good idea to give them loans....but if you can ignore the Constitution to do something good today, tomorrow you will be ignoring the Constitution to do something bad. You could...the Holocaust occurred in Germany--how the heck could that happen? And when you start down the wrong road, it can be a very slippery slope." Seems to me the slippery slope is GOPers comparing helping American students get a college education to Hitler and the Holocaust!
At a campaign stop this week, Paul Ryan said we need to stop spending money we don't have. This from the guy who voted YES on every unfunded, deficit and debt-busting GOP bill from 2001-2008; now we're supposed to believe he had a sudden awakening--spending money we don't have, then blaming democrats for it, has been a GOP policy for 30 years!
At a GOP Jewish Coalition meeting, Florida GOP Rep Allan West told the audience that an old Soviet Union Marxist theme for their campaign was Forward......then West said "we're gonna go forward!" Judging from the applause, it seems West's own forward remark flew right "over the cuckoo's nest"!
Romney, "...we, the American people were given our rights not by government but by God himself." If that's true, perhaps Mitt can explain why it was necessary for government to add the Bill of Rights, and later amend our Constitution to abolish slavery, give women the right to vote, give blacks the right to vote, and eliminate Jim Crow and poll taxes? God didn't sign those rights, a duly-elected President of our government did. God may have had good intentions but Government ensures we have those rights.
Just when you think you've heard it all...Public Policy Polling asked Ohio and North Carolina GOP voters who they thought deserved more credit for the death of Osama bin Laden--Obama or Romney? OH, 15% of GOPers said Romney and 47% were unsure. In NC, 15% of GOPers said Romney and 56% were unsure. Romney? He was probably boating on his NH Lake. Unsure? Do they not read? Seriously, this boggles the mind.
The Missouri State legislature over-road Gov. Jan Nixon's veto of a bill that would allow employers or health insurance providers to stop offering coverage for contraception, abortion or sterilization if doing so violates their religious or moral convictions. But, hey, there is no GOP war on women's rights!
Paul Ryan had to give Romney 10 years of tax returns in order to be his VP candidate. So why does Mitt think voters deserve only 1 year of his, maybe 2 if we're lucky, when he's asking to be our President?
Mitt Romney wins the Bachmann "Chitspa" Award for "...I intend to be a President that provides the leadership America respects and will keep us admired throughout the world." So, was that "leadership" on display in London or Israel, Poland? How about Tuesday/Wednesday this week, or perhaps when Mitt declared Russia to be our #1 geopolitical enemy, or when Mitt injected himself into on-going State Department negotiations for the release of Chinese dissident, Chen? Inquiring minds want to know when we can expect to see even a glimmer of Mitt's leadership that "will keep us admired throughout the world."
Romney stuffed both gilded feet in his mouth this week. First, he politicized the deaths of Americans with his nonfactual, uninformed, premature statement (approved by him) released while a crisis was still unfolding; second, for doubling down on stupid born of arrogance and a selfish desire to score political points. Disgusting.
Mitt Romney was so eager to attack President Obama that he failed the basic presidential skills test on many levels from bad judgement to insensitivity to the inability to grasp the underlying causes. Not once did Mitt Romney condemn the blasphemous, anti-Islamic film which primarily fueled the fires of anti-American protests in the middle east. Free speech is a right but it is wrong not to call out intolerance, not to call disrespect and hate speech what it is. Romney, not ready to lead--not even close.
President Obama summed up Romney nicely as well as giving him a tip, "there's a broader lesson to be learned here, and, you know, Governor Romney seems to have tendency to shoot first and aim later." When asked if Romney's statement was irresponsible, Obama replied, "I'll let the American people judge that."
Food for Thought. What is objectionable, what is dangerous, about extremists is not that they are extreme, but that they are intolerant. Robert F. Kennedy.
This week we remembered 9/11. Then we mourned the loss of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans killed Tuesday as well as the Libyans who died trying to help and protect them. As a country which fought for freedom in 1776, we must remember that a newly achieved democracy in Libya is frought with struggles just as was America those many years ago, and throughout our history. Lynchings for glancing at a white woman or failing to step aside; massacres of American Indians who were fighting for their homes and their land; civil rights violence from beatings to murders; school busing violence; Vietnam protests, Kent State shootings, Oklahoma City, Columbine, Arizona mall and most recently a movie theater.
We cannot prevent all violence but we can and should do what we can not to incite it. As part of remembering 9/11 and what happened in Libya--we should remind ourselves that religious intolerance and prejudice on both sides fuels mistrust and hatred. Pastor Terry Jone's intolerance and the intolerance of evangelical preachers like him can be just as dangerous as Muslim extremists.
Hi Jody, A GREAT wrap up for the week!
It looks like many republicans are now going through buyer’s remorse for picking this foolish man, Willard Romney, the talking lying buffoons, as the Republican choice for President of the United States.
Wonderful, Jody. Mitt and Lyin' Ryan have given stellar performances this week on "why we are not qualified to lead the country!"
Thanks for writing this.
Outstanding Jody: On Fridays I always look forward to reading your post. I can appreciate that a lot of research goes into your comments. Well done
Jody, thank you for all the work you put into this. I know from writing a lot that some of it just writes itself but the majority is a slog through grammar and maintaining the flow of connected thoughts.
Jody,
What a week!
Your wrap up shows that Romney and friends are getting more and more desperate.
A little too late to close the women voters gap.
And the undecided voters are totally disengaged.
His only hope is that they will watch him in the first debate and think here is a guy I can really trust? LOL
BRAVO Jody!
So many people look forward & ♥ your weekly wraps!
Happy Friday Jody! Thanks for wrapping up the week once again. Crazy days are here again.
May Romney trip over his words daily.
Have a terrific weekend one and all!
Fabulous Jody.......a must read to keep us up to date as the Mittster is constantly changing. Thank you for your time and great effort.
All righty then, Jody:
The week is now complete. Keep it up. That's a lot of work and I feel quite comfortable speaking not only for myself, but for many others - Thank you very much.
The best part is Snookie-Joe got caught with her granny panties around here ankles this morning!
She didn't have one of her "cheap imitations" in the can to counter your excellent wrap with! lmao
Great wrap up, Jody, as usual. Somehow the craziness that is the Republican party seems even crazier when you read it all in one place!
I love that Ryan had to release 10 years of tax returns to Mitt but we get only 1 so far. And it occurs to me that we can't really trust the tax return for 2011 that Mitt has said he wil release. It may very well be the one he files by the 10/15 due date (spiffed up by his accountants) but what it so stop him from later amending it?

Great wrap-up Jody. Thanks as always. The unfolding events will be North Africa will be front and center for the next week or so. As more information comes to light, it seems Obama needs to keep up his efforts at dismantling the Al Qaeda. Thankfully Obama is well equipped on this front, unlike his running mate who, for all we know, would have started bombing China to retaliate against the rioting.
Jody--I would also like to add my thanks for your research and insight. I enjoy reading your analysis.
"We have met the enemy and he is us!" Pogo by Walt Kelly
well done Jody. As always thanks for the work you put into your weekly wrap ups.
Jody
Even if I agreed with the way you spin everything in your wrap-up, I could never agree with your opinion that we somehow may have incited the violence in the Middle East. We did not incite the violence in Lybia, we exercised free speech. Contrary to what the left believes free speech does not have to take into consideration anyone's feelings and that includes those savages that perpetrated this particular crime. I do not understand what the left does not understand about these people hating us, our kids, and our way of life. They want to kill all Americans. Sooner or later we will have to bomb them, may as well do it before it is just a reactionary measure. We need a leader with some stones.
Most Republicans see Romney as a reject from 2000 and steering clear of him and all his false statements, they see him as a Pathological Liar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the kind words; I appreciate that you find it worth reading. It is work but most weeks, it is fun work--probably because the GOP seems to have lost their marbles and that makes it easy.
Hey robert@mo #4.16, You looking to start world war three, you most be a Republican Warmonger !!!
Awesome, Jody!
Jody, Iowa ( "SALUTE" )
I hope so because it always a pleasure to read
Robert, MO, as I said above: "Free speech is a right but it is wrong not to call out its intolerance, not to call hate speech what it is." I also said "religious intolerance and prejudice on BOTH sides..." We have the right to free speech but it is irresponsible to yell fire in a crowded theater. Everyone has a right to say what they want but everyone else has a right to call them out for irresponsible, intolerant, hate speech. I do NOT excuse the violence in the middle east, nor do I excuse those who killed the four Americans and the Libyans protecting them. My point is to make people think, to provide a reminder that religious intolerance in this country practiced by some and preached by others is as dangerous as radical as Muslim extremism--neither is based on faith.
Fear fuels fear; intolerance fuels intolerance; hatred fuels hatred. Until we, meaning all people of every nation, learn to accept each for what each is, learn to respect other cultures, other faiths and tolerate others, we lose. And then we Americans wonder why.
Question for Robert, MO: Bomb whom? Did you not see the thousands of Libyans rallying for America, the signs saying they were sorry for what happened? Which ones do you think we should bomb; how do we know which is which? Do we bomb Egypt because protesters burned our flag and stormed the embassy but did not get in? What about Iraq, there's still anti-American violence there? Do we bomb Iran? Do we bomb Syria? Do we bomb North Korea? Do we just bomb because we can show our military might and because we can? Do we bomb any country who doesn't like us? That's not American strength or American exceptionalism, that's stupidity.
I'm amused by these vocal proponents of First Amendment. First Amendment does not have free speech rights in other countries. A little consideration of others culture including religious views would go a long way towards helping the world find more peaceful solutions to the differences.
Some who post screaming, 'bomb them' etc., are no better than those they want to bomb. Here in this great country, where freedom of expression is cherished, a country where many come and want to come to, because we represent freedom, there are some who would deny their fellow citizens the right to have an opposing point of view even here on this site. They can vilify some for not being religious enough, for not being patriotic enough, for not being moral enough by some who think their way is 'right' or better.
You may be guaranteed the right to say something offensive, but really should you? You may be guaranteed the right to make an offensive video, but should you?
We really need to start learning about other countries and their cultures, learning that to the inhabitants of those countries, have their own values, their own beliefs, their own customs and their own standards of what's acceptable to them.......just as we have ours. We need to understand and teach our children that understanding if we are to peacefully coexist. The global village is closer than most people are willing to accept.
Ain't that the truth. They sure do love to project their failures on others.
Another great "And that's the way it is"....this week. "
I think Jody said it best already. But to Robert and others I will try another tact. What good is it to stir up a hornet's nest? The pastor knew that his earlier threat to burn Korans brought out riots that stormed across Afganistan, his stupid idea to put Muhammed on trial caused more uproar. Deaths happened because of his actions. Now with his teaming with the Egyptian, Coptic/Christian director whoever he is, didn't he know that this would cause problems. Weren't the deaths in the Afganistan attacks enough for him? This is the third time that his stupid actions or ideas have incited and or given wackos, in their mind not my mind, an excuse to go crazy.
The movie is being used as an excuse by militants and extremists to turn the mob into terrorists and murderers. Yes for the most part the majority of Muslims are not doing this but the angry tide on the top is churning and moving the larger ocean currents. No the Arab street is not rioting and storming in a dozen countries because of a film they have not seen, it is but one straw in a haystack where they see a US conspiracy working against them at every corner. The militants are tricking the majority to do their dirty works, and the ignorant, the jobless and the religious fanatics are coming under their yoke.
This is a prefect description of the followers of Breitbart, Limabugh, Beck and O'Reilly and their actions to spread Muslim disinformation like Obama is a Muslim and the whole Birther movement. And they are good at it .. daily, the ignorant, jobless, and religious fanatics do the dirty work of posting the regurgitation spewed by these wing-nuts.
Thanks Jody - Great wrap up. Romney and the rest of the folks that support him should be ashamed. They actually are happy and wish for things to go bad with the economy and in in the middle east. How can they call themselves "real Americans" when they celebrate this?
"Let me warn you, and let me warn the nation, against the smooth evasion that says 'Of course we believe these things. We believe in social security. We believe in work for the unemployed. We believe in saving homes. Cross our hearts and hope to die.
'We believe in all these things. But we do not like the way that the present administration is doing them. Just turn them over to us. We will do all of them, we will do more of them, we will do them better and, most important of all, the doing of them will not cost anybody anything'"
This is a speech by Franklin D. Roosevelt during his reelection campaign in 1936. It's sounds like a perfect sarcastic description of the political gamble being played with common people's lives, that is still going on these days as well ...

There’s very little new under the sun folks.
The Yahoo’s have been working on this for 75 years in many guises and disguises.
It all amounts to the same thing no matter how you try to pretty it up.
Same Sh!t Different Day.
IR - excellent post and excellent point. If you go back and watch and review the issues/talking points from the 1930s, they very closely mirror today's dialogue. It goes to show you severe economic ruination always boils down to the haves and the have-nots. I certainly hope it doesn't take a world war go get the country to unite - but if we believe the adage that history repeats itself, it appears that is our only out, and it will be much to the glee of the conservative right wingers.
IR:
Thank you very much for a much-needed reminder.

Obama/Biden 2012!
Cynthia,
Many states have early voting or absentee voting that starts before the last debate is even done.
Check with your County election office.
Everone needs to vote and have their vote counted.
I was sad to learn last night that Pennsylvania is one of the most restrictive voting states (and that was before we enacted the even more restrictive ID law). We don't have early voting, extended hours or even liberal absentee balloting. I wish I could participate in early voting but will be proud to wait til November 6 to case my vote for President Obama.
I decided last night to see what all the fuss was about so I went to YouTube and I decided to watch the trailer to Innocence of Muslims and formulate my own opinion. My conclusions can be summed up in 3 statements...
1. What a piece of crap!
2. There went 14 minutes of my life that I'll never get back.
3. Had a similar film been made in Egypt with the same depictions of the life of Jesus Christ there would be the same type of backlash from Christians as we have seen from Muslims.
Memo to "Sam Bacile": Now I understand why you didn't use your real name when you produced that...that...THING!
Haven't seen it, so I cannot comment on one and two- but I will take your word for it.
On number three- you are one hundred percent, completely WRONG!
How many people died in protests over The Last Temptation Of Christ.
Or "Piss Christ"?
Or the portrait of the Madonna covered in elephant dung?
Oh. That's right.
None.
There were angry letters to editors. There were folks speaking out on local and national news.
That's it.
In the latter two citations, the government sponsored offensive "art". Yet, there were no embassies attacked, no violent protests at the White House, nothing. Zilch. Zip. Nada.
So, kindly refrain from tying Christian groups with the kinds of excuses for human beings who would burn, destroy, fly planes into buildings, and otherwise show their fanaticism in destructive, deadly, manners.
It's a disgrace that you'd even try that false equivalency.
NoJo, none of your examples come from Islamic sources, and The Last Temptation of Christ was a hit and approved by the Pope.
Fail!
NOJO,
Here is the latest on the backers of this dubbed Arabic trailer that is the flame thrower
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-filmmaker-20120914,0,6397127.story
Who is conning who ?
As usual, bcwc is wrong. You are confusing two movies-The Passion of the Christ with the Scorsese film. The Pope did NOT endorse a film showing Christ forsaking crucifix action to marry Mary Magdelene.
Moreover, the point of Noid's post was to compare Christian violence over insults to religion with Islamic violence. There is no equivalency- because there is no Chrostian violence to point to over such insults.
Can liberals never label evil as such? Must you always attempt to draw comparisons that do not exist?
Noid should just have linked articles of crazy Christians shooting or blowing up abortion clinics.
NoJo
I admit my error in confusing the two films. However, Da Noid's take was where it was produced and where it was shown. In that I believe him/her to be correct.
BTW, the Scorcese film comes from Kazantzakis and he drew much from religious Christian texts denied entry to the Bible by a Church beginning to fill the oncoming power void left by a disintegrating Roman Empire. My opinion of that is that the Church of the time committed blasphemy.
Or demonstrating against building Muslim mosques, or burning down and bombing Muslim mosques, or shooting at Sihk temples.
The big difference I see in the movies: Jews/Christians were behind the movie which outraged the Muslims. Muslims were not behind the movies degrading my Savior. It was once again Jews/Christians or Athests. And that is the catalist behind the whole drama. I am a devout practicing Christian (yep, practicing because I am no where near perfect but practice my Christianity every day in hopes of reaching that goal by judgement day) who may think many other religions are crazy and off the wall as well as just out and out wrong (Muslim, Mormanism, Hindu, Buddest, Scientology, etc are all cults to me and being Jewish only completes half the picture - none of these work for me and my beliefs), but at the end of the day, I recognize that each and every one of us has the right to worship who, how, what, and when they want to or not. I don't have the right to publically criticize a group or individuals that I don't know personally and I hope to never be stupid enought to purposley inflame and already sensitive topic to a sensitive people - like Pastor Jones who could never really be a Christian or he would know his actions are sinful at best.
Sshhh! That's off limits!
Am I wrong?
What would happen, I wonder, if a Muslim film-maker produced a scene that depicted "The Last Supper" as a drunken gay orgy?
Limbaugh, Beck, Robertson and others would order the fringe right-wing Christians to pull out their guns and go on a shooting spree. Have you watched Christian TV lately? They are absolute freaks spouting on and on about the take over of the world by Muslims and that we are truly in the throes of the 'last days'.
On October 22, 1988, 13 people were injured including 4 with severe burns when a fundamentalist Christian group launched molotov cocktails into a movie theater in Paris that was showing The Last Temptation of Christ.
In Paris? I suppose you mean Paris, Texas, since this whole thread deals with things in the USA.
Da Noid, you are a brave person.
Don't give up trying. Perhaps one day these truths will seep inot conservative minds. We have to keep trying.
Barack Obama:
Alias Barry Soetoro pawns himself as Barack Obama, the humanitarian, the POTUS, the campaign for hope and change. But we know better. Barry is a radical Marxist who was raised by Communist parents and Communist grandparents. His mentors were known Communists, his contacts in college were strictly Marxists supporters, Marxist professors and a group of Pakistani activists as stated in his book, "Dreams From My Father".
Barack Obama, tell us about Frank Marshall Davis or Bill Ayers. Surely you remember Mr. Davis. After all, your mother knew him all too well. Mr. Ayers, a known terrorist, responsible for at least a dozen bombings, helped your early Illinois campaign by raising money, thru his organization Underground Weather. Davis, a well known Communist. Tell us about your trip to Pakistan ('81) with Pakistani Wahid Hamid.
Share with us your ideals of socialism, after all you're a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), referred as the "New Party". Please tell us why you have been influenced by the writings of Karl Marx, the prelude to Communism. Share with us your association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Do you justify this man's message by condemning our country by saying, "God bless America? No, God Damn America"? Was this a forethought supporting your belief in Marxism?
United States of America………………you didn't build it Barack Obama.
Is there a full moon out? Must be, this post is totally divorced from reality.
Don't you just love it?
Drummers. LOL
Newday,
Top Drum is a one post wonder.
He has been repeating this one post for months.
newdayDAWNING...RETURNED
That is true newday, but it does serve to remind us that many of us are not. Plus the odd chuckle or two as we envisage this crap being drummed into Top's head.
Jeff-1592116
thanks for the laugh.
He has spammed this same comment hundreds of times...
It just shows you that Willard will be getting that dumb A$$ tea bag vote that voted for Palin in the last election.
TopDrum, actually you are Exhibit "A" as to what the GOP has become over time.
Congratulations. You're going to lose in November, deservedly so. Most people in this country want nothing to do with people like you.
In case you don't realize it, as an American, you're an embarrassment. As is most of today's Republican Party.
There is no difference between Drum and the North African rioters. The are feared up and raring to go, driven by the spokesman of the day, whether it is some Muslim cleric, Rush Limbaugh, or Beck.
Looks like Bottom Drummer had to log into his 4 other troll accounts to add to his post agreements. :)
It's over, tea baggers -- you have once again managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Romney is arguably the worst presidential candidate since Michael Dukaukis. He's losing badly and all of you Republicans are just beating that dead (dressage) horse. Your leader Rush was correct when he said this week that Elmer Fudd would have been just as good a candidate as Mittens!
And Osama Bin Laden would have been as good a candidate has Barack Obama.
Another amazingly lame comment - say something original for a change.
What is more amazing is that he got four checks so far. scary...
I really thought the abdication of duty by obama in favor of campaigning would wake up the die hard liberals of this country. I was wrong!
"Abdication of Duty"?
Okay, tell me what the President was supposed to have done this week.
Jay...................are you serious? Your side would have liked that, no? I'm afraid you are, that means you're delusional.
Jay
They have no concious or moral compas. They do not know what they do. Just blindly march and drink the kool-aid their false prophet provides.
He has campained for six years. It is all this President knows. That and more money.
Abdication of duty in favor of campaigning was demonstrated most clearly by Romney this week. In hoping to score political points, he took an international crisis and tried to score some points with some lame speech designed to interfere with our Presidents efforts to handle the situation. Fortunately, his counterparts, the media, and most Americans cried foul. But like a dummy, he trudged on doing a double then a triple down, clearly showing Americans he is interested ONLY in campaigning. What an epic failure, and one that likely cost him his presidential bid.
Although the only poll that counts will be in November it would be nice to see one taken now that Obama has turned over all of North Africa to Al-Queda and their allies. A vote for Obama is a vote in support of the murder of our diplomats.
I had no idea that North Africa was even ours to begin with.
Geography was not his favorite subject, evidently.
Yeah .. I just love these cooked-up, half-baked ideas that Obama runs all the governments of the world, and he, and he alone, decides which ones will be allocated to Al-Qaeda vs. Hezbollah, or any other radical extremist group. Do you suppose his next move will be to turn over the government of Germany to some religious right-wing religious group like the Mormons?
Limbaugh said that if Obama wins the GOP will cease to exist. That makes another good reason to vote for Obama.
He also said he was moving to Puerto Rico if Obamacare passed. We're still waiting.
I believe Obamney will win .
It really does not matter.
Same ol' business, different day.
Also, I really dislike that Republicans have branded themselves as "Conservative".
Those putzes are anything but, with a very few exceptions: Ron Paul being one.
Too bad hes a funny looking little guy instead of Hollywood good looks.
True conservatism is socially liberal: Small Federal Government, smaller spending, more personal freedoms and liberties.
Barack Obama: Communist and Islamic radical.
Really? Did you ever attend high school or college? Currently, do you have a job?
odumbo attended college as a foreign student.
The Nut Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree
From the article above:
Much can be learned from history. Stories, legends and fables passed from generation to generation serve a noble purpose of recording events, maintaining traditions, and honoring those that came before them. Here in the southwest, Native Americans and Hispanics keep their cultures vibrant and alive by passing beliefs, morals, and traditions to their children in order to preserve their sacred heritage.
Sometimes we learn from history. Sometimes we don’t. Sometimes mankind foolishly repeats the same mistakes and people suffer for it. History is repeating itself for Governor Romney. Or perhaps more appropriately, Governor Romney is confronting history knocking on his door.
Excerpts from Wikipedia:
The nut doesn't fall far from the tree.

Hey Tomas, did you happen to catch this?

Ms. Redhead-
I had not seen that. I Love It! That made my day!
Salud, Amiga
Speaking of nuts, his dad also had a problem with speaking off the cuff. This one torpedoed his own campaign:
“When I came back from Vietnam,” Romney said in a televised 1967 interview with journalist Lou Gordon, “I just had the greatest brainwashing that anybody can get when you go over to Vietnam. Not only by the generals but by the diplomatic corps over there, and they do a very thorough job.”
I'd pay for tickets to meet that man.
I smell a stinch.. Must be stinky redhead, Ron in Indiana, Blow job 1, Gingerbread, Patriotic A-hole, and smelly Amy from portland who also has red hair. You guys have a funk about you today.. Must mean left leaning pole number..lol Jimmy Carter was way further ahead of Reagan at this time and came back to crush him. Just like Romney will do when the get into the debates. He will light our panderer in chief up and make him look silly and out of touch. While the rest of the US was worried about our embassies and the violence and murder in the middle east, our lack luster president was on Jay Leno... Jokeing it up as if nothing ever happened.. It's your fault Dumboma. You have Marines Corps blood on your hands.. Again
Sragan,
What a country we live in.
Even a crazy like you have a right to vote.
Hope you know the voting rules in your state. They might have changed.
Obama/Biden 2012
Oh, too bad !! Once the Tea Farties get away from the contrived polls of Fox News and face the real reality, it's not working out so well. You right wing extremists would only have suffered the same fate in November that you're waking up to right now. Your version of the Republican Party has run amuck of middle class America and you and your ideas are unelectable. Clean up your act and we'll see you in 2016; leave it where it stands today and it will be good riddance forever to bad rubbish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Northstar, shhhhhhhh. lol
There's just a fundemental shift going on in our country right now. We are becomming more like Europe where the people expect their country to take care of them from the cradle to the grave with free everything. I think the Democratics most represent this way of living. So yes I can see where Obama and his court has the "will" of the American people. But freet not his day will come when the US collaspes under these giant entitlement programs and America discovers its better not to work and strive to be "great". Our government will need huge amounts of money to keep its citizens happy and when they can't tax enough then America will emplode. When you take care of your citizens without requiring anything of them its called triffling.
The fed's quantitative easing continues making the dollars buying power closer to toilet paper. At 1/2% interest rates, savings are losing value for Seniors; fund managers who are suppose to return 6% or better for retirement funds are forced to throw all monies into the stock market. Perhaps we have decided to inflate ourselves out of our 16Trillion dollar debt?
Hot daddy, You got that right. This is the 3rd easing we have had and it will do no good either. Look interest rates have been at O% for 3 years. Done no good. The Economy and particulary Corporations have no faith in this administration so they ain't going out on a limb so Obama can stick the knife in thier backs later on with a "rich" tax".
Is this the expectations of Europeans? Odd, I have never met a European that thinks like this. They DO believe that they pay into programs like medical coverage and they expect the government, in return, to deliver results. Much like we believe that after paying into Social Security and Medicare for a lifetime, the government had better deliver on its promises, and not let some greedy politicians (aka the GOPTP) skip out on paying the bills.
I didn't know Barry was a magician. His divine magic has nearly erased our country's integrity.
friday news:
Bernanke inflating the the money supply thereby cheapening the dollar-result stocks higher, but gas, food, clothing etc higher for middle America which is strapped by fuel costs having doubled in 4 years and food up over 33% or more in the last 4 years. Comes at a terrible time.
Arab Spring-Obama backed the Muslim Brotherhood in overthrowing two Arab Strongmen in Libya and Egypt. Result chaos. These are Obama ONLY involvements-not bush's. Muslim countries are either run by a Strongman or become a Muslim Theocracy i.e. Iran. Obama has de=stabilized two Arab countries and the consequences are his. Romney needs to hammer this issue home this fall. He also needs to hit the energy independence plan so we can ignore the middle east craziness.
It will be hilarious watching Feisty Dumbfux's fat ass pushing her wheelbarrow of food stamps to buy a loaf of bread.
hot daddy,
"Romney needs to hammer this issue home this fall. "
Romney's first swing at foreign policy this week was a miss.
I do not think adopting the great song "If I had a hammer" will do it for him either.
Have you ever heard this guy sing?
He would choke on the words"freedom and justice...."
Not a miss but head on.......Obama's naive foreign policy is already creating more unrest throughout the world. Even some lib commentators are deeply concerned about his policies!
Care to provide any evidence of that, Linda?
Romney is so bloody ridiculous. Shooting his foolish mouth off this week was really over-the-top even for him.
Its so easy for a cowboy chickenhawk to insult our President from afar because he's got no skin in the game. Republicans have one playbook..just one. And when all you have in your toolbox is a hammer, you see everything in the world like its a nail.
However, Romney is the type of guy that will cheer for aggression and war, put honorable men and women into harm's way, and never take any risk himself. How many of Romney's 5 sons served their country. What did Romney do when he was drafted himself?
And frankly, we saw this type of nonsense already under GW Bush. The last republican president that they're so embarassed of that they wouldn't even have him at their own convention.
Barack Obama is a thoughful, careful and brilliant leader...particularly on a world stage. He never risks American lives or American's position in the world by not thinking before he acts. He tries to understand the longterm consequences of his actions first. I respect and admire a leader that doesn't flex the military muscle of the United States without using good sense first.
Romney is a blowhard, loudmouth, GW Bush-style moron. He knows nothing about foreign policy or the complexities of the region...so he follows the typical cowboy-diplomacy nonsense. His complete ineptitude and insensitivity is on full display this week for Americans to see...and that's why he's dropping in the polls.
Mr. Romney...not everyone is as stupid and one-dimensional as your followers. You and your handlers will not fool the populace..and you and the Koch Brothers will not buy this election. Go crawl back under your rock.
niknik you had better quit playing with your dikdik and open your eyes. Unless you are one of odumbos welfare collecters than just keep your eyes and your mouth shut.
Roy:
I'm female...and why are you so obsessed with dik?
Seek therapy...I can't help you with your latent homosexuality dumbass.
Roy, who are you to tell someone to keep their mouth shut?
Loser.
Not on welfare. Voted for Barack Obama in 2008, and will do so again, if for no other reason, to stand on the other side of the room from idiots like Roy.
Anyone else notice that the "teabaggers" like to use "welfare" as an insult against their betters, the Libs that post here?
They seem to know an awful lot about welfare. Most be through their own experience.
NDD,
I have noticed the same: one thought wizards from these sock puppets.
Everybody knows this poll is a joke. I don't think there would be that many stupid people that would vote for odumbo and ojumbo again.
roy What"s a odumbo & ojumbo? The only joke here is the stupid people who post just like you.
In 2008, a presidential candidate named Barack Obama took a trip overseas. Conservatives were afraid that this candidate would publicly trash the sitting President of the United States ont he world stage for the mere sake of scoring political points.
In 2012, the Conservatives have no concerns about whether or not a presidential candidate named Mitt Romney is going to publicly trash the sitting President of the United States on the world stage for the mere sake of scoring political points. They're fine if he does it.
Romney has no class or dignity.
Neither do his followers. He is easily one of the most foolish and unpatriotic men that has ever run for public office....outside of GW Bush.
TheNik,
Define "unpatriotic".
Da,
You mean like Clinton did in Europe when Bush was president? Or, like Obama did when he trashed the U.S. on foreign soil?
diklessniknik did you forget about obammy?
Roy:
I am dikless...I'm a woman you republican assclown.
Not that you inbred idiots can tell the difference.
Hey Roy, why don't you dial back the inflammatory name-calling... have some class.
In Roy's warped little mind, he's giggle because he think's he's making people he calls "liberals" angry with his name calling. There is no hope for this guy. He lack's the intelligence to understand what he's doing.
The Romney campaign would be laughable if current events didn't show it to be extremely dangerous. Sure, you can flip flop on your own health care plan. You can claim you helped save GM. You can serve up "tax cut" as the answer to any problem. Politics. But now in Libya and Egypt we're talking about lives. And yet Mitt and his minions continue to twist facts and act the tough guy, all - and yet again - to further their own agenda. The term "loose cannon" does not do justice here. Because that would imply just being mentally unhinged. No, it's worse than that. These guys start wars. These guys think "American leadership" is more aircraft carriers. These guys think the rest of the world is there to cut our lawn. And they're willing to put our sons and daughters out there to prove it. I'm all for a strong America. I'm there if a fight if required. But it isn't. This is a time for reasonable people to make thoughtful decisions on behalf of all of us - not cynical knee-jerk responses that serve their own delusions. Romney has clearly demonstrated where his head is at. It's in a place where it's very, very dark.
henry,
YOU'RE RIGHT.
What we need is another patronizing speech in Cairo just like the one given in 2009. THAT REALLY HELPED!!!
Obama backed the Muslim brotherhood with our Country's treasure and aided in taking down two Arab Strongmen in Libya and Egypt. He broke these two eggs; now he owns the mess. Muslims have found two workable solutions: Strongman government or Theocracy=IRAN. Muslim Brotherhood is a bad actor and will be trouble for us longterm. Thanks Barry!@
hot daddy, Bush created Al Quaida in Iraq and wasted $3 trillion trying to convert Iraq into an American dream. Indications are that Romney sees the world through the same lens as Bush and would, I'm sure, have comparable results.
Just think of the mess the president will inherit next January!!!
Enough said.........
keep trying to fool people MSNBC with your headlines - not the polls I've seen - with Barry & Hillary's failure on foreign policy ala Jimmy Carter style this is the end for this admin thank God ... NikNik I think you and all the blind followers of this idiot in the White House are the ones mentally challenged - the guy had no business experience and no foreign policy experience and this is what you get - an economy that is in the toilet and the rest of the world dragging us down - it's time for new leadership and some REAL change
Thanking god for the death of Americans, way to show yourself as being above the terrorists.
Guess:
Romney isn't anything new. He's just another tiresome, idiotic GW Bush.
Ryan voted with Bush 98% of the time...and Romney's strategy is right out of the same playbook. You could literally transpose GW Bush face over Romney's...they are the same guy. Draft-dodging, trash talking morons.
You might not like Obama...but Romney is NOT a viable candidate. He's totally incompetent. He changes his position on a daily basis and stands for nothing except ensuring his billionaire backers that he'll help them raid the US treasury once they buy him into office. Under Obama, the progress may be slower than expected (because of congressional obstructist dbags like Paul Ryan)...but with GW Bush's policies we were LOSING 250,000 jobs a year and almost had a Great Depression. That's what Romney will return to because his policies are EXACTLY THE SAME.
His loudmouth warmongering is not only foolish...but its dangerous. He's not fit for office and America knows it. He is dropping in the polls for a reason. He has received none...ZERO..of the traditional bounce after his disastrous VP and after the horribly-run RNC convention.
How can a guy who can't even pick a decent VP and can't even run a simple convention...run the country?
He can't...neither could GW Bush..that's why you Republicans are hiding him from view.
But America hasn't forgotten and Romney is the same type of dirtbag.
Obama/Biden 2012!!!!
What foreign policy successes are you referring to?
What foreign policy? it changes daily right? All we've really seen is the "Apologetic Foreign Policy".
What George W. Bush did to the economy was a fart in a whirlwind as compared to what happened to get us into the mess we are in now.
The so called liberals posting on this blog seem to have no idea what got us here and who is responsible for it. If you take a look at filibusters over the past dozen years you would see that democrats had the most until democrats actually took over congress. You might actually understand what has been going on and what is going on now.
After another four more years of failure, the democrats will continue pointing their little fingers @ GW. The Islamic Nation is just waiting to see what happens to this country in the next 4 yrs. Bankruptcy and collapse!
TopDrum not a good reply, try again
Top Drum, you really need to stop drinking so early in the day, then maybe your delusions will fade.
If they are delusions Kathleen why couldn't you post something that contradicted them instead of something idiotic and juvenile?
