Ann Romney to attend fundraiser at Bush home in Dallas

NEW YORK – Ann Romney will attend a fundraising lunch to raise money for husband's presidential campaign at the home of former President George W. Bush next Tuesday, a Romney campaign spokesperson confirmed. Former First Lady Laura Bush will host the lunch, which is part of a Romney fundraising swing through the GOP donor-rich state of Texas, at the couple's home in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas.

Romney campaign aides said Thursday they were unsure whether former president Bush would appear at the lunchtime event at his home, or at a separate finance event with Romney later that evening at a Dallas hotel. A Bush spokesperson did not immediately return a request for comment on the former president's schedule, but one Texas Republican close to Bush said he will be in Dallas on Tuesday.

In keeping with Romney campaign policy on finance events at private homes, the fundraising lunch at the Bush home will be closed to the press.

On Monday, September 10th, Ann Romney and Laura Bush held a similar joint event together at a private home in Oklahoma City. Ticket prices ranged from $1,000 for general admission to $25,000 for a VIP reception, according to an invitation to the event posted online by the Sunlight Foundation, non-partisan group which advocates for government transparency.

Since leaving office with historically low approval ratings in 2009, the younger Bush has stayed largely out of the public spotlight. Other than telling a reporter in May that he was supporting Romney, he has not been a vocal presence in the 2012 campaign. Likewise, Romney rarely invokes the name of the most recent Republican president on the campaign trail.

Bush's father, former president George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara have been much more outspoken Romney supporters, first backing Romney last December then formalizing their support in March with a camera-friendly sit down chat at the elder Bush's Houston office. Barbara Bush even recorded robocalls on Romney's behalf during the critical primary contest in Ohio.

OBAMA IS THE MOST DISGUSTING INCOMPETENT TO HOLD ANY OFFICE LET ALONE THE PRESIDENCY.

Nope, I think George W. Bush holds that honor...

...the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.

April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.

Dec 29, 2008 (Bloomberg) U.S. corporate earnings fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.

May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.

If you want to repeat what Bush did (After all, Romney has hired all of George W. Bush's old economic advisors!) then make sure you vote for Romney this Fall!

With the debates coming up, it is only going to get worse for them, too. President Obama is going to crush Willard in front of the American people! I can hardly wait!

That is tragic BUT your boy BUSH KNEW ABOUT THE PENDING WTC/Pentagon/Shanks field disaster 4 months - repeat 4 MONTHS before the event (hard verified intel BTW) and because he was finding excuses and falling down the white house stairs drunk he ignored those warnings. the result 3000+ people died that day and since then about 10,000 of our military have died and ~50,000 hurt and God knows how many PTSD and suicides.

As to your comment, however, yes, I brought race up because it's the other side of the coin you Liberals are always flipping to see why someone is protesting against Obama. Heads and you say "Hate." Tails and you say "Race."

Can you support your ridiculous statement that I spread hate in my comments? I assume you're aware that all of our comments are saved and filed in our profiles. I would bet you money that you could spend a week paging through my past comments and fail to find even one instance of my posting anything out of 'hate' for Obama.

Hi JK: We initially did not have any intel. that any of the bombing were to happen unlike Bush who had warnings that were ignored. Yes what you stated happened on Clinton's watch but while very sad did not amount to the catastraphies under Bush's less than vigilent eye and again Bush had warnings, Clinton did not.

Yea, JK, a mindful lesson of what happened in the Clinton administration which was squandered on the next President, Mr. Bush. The perp McViey was captured and executed on Clinton's watch . As for the original bombing of the trade center, Bush should have been more vigilant under the circumstances of a second attack but was not. Totally ignored Richard Clark even ignored numerous memos that are coming out as we communicate. And don't forget that the perpetrators of the downing of the Trade Towers were either caught or executed again by a Democratic President, Obama. Bush stated that catching Osama Bin Ladin was no longer of interested to him. I guess when you stop looking you stop finding

why don't you tell us how well Clinton did (or did not do as you are trying to imply). I'm sure you have some legit sources to back up your claim.

The Oklahoma bombing was orchestrated by a U.S. citizen and it came from nowhere. Timothy McVeighwas caught, prosecuted, found guilty and punished.

there were no warnings for the 1st WTC bombing but there were many warnings prior to 9/11 which Bush totally ignored - he was too busy pretending to be the landscape boy at his ranch while on vacation.

bayllie,

I'm sure you can tell us that Bush knew the exact time and place for the 9/11 attacks, right?

you must choose to ignore all the info that's out there because I don't think you are that stupid.

The 9/11 Commission stated there were more than 40 intelligence articles in the PDBS [Presidential Daily Briefings] from January 21 to September 11 that related to Bin Laden.

In the spring of 2001, the level of reporting on terrorist threats and planned attacks increased dramatically to its highest level since the millennium alert.

Reports similar to many of these were made available to President Bush in morning intelligence briefings with DCI Tenet, usually attended by Vice President Dick Cheney and National Security Advisor Rice.

On June 25, Clarke warned Rice and Hadley that six separate intelligence reports showed al Qaeda personnel warning of a pending attack.

On June 28, Clarke wrote Rice that the pattern of al Qaeda activity indicating attack planning over the past six weeks "had reached a crescendo.

The headline of a June 30 briefing to top officials was stark: "Bin Ladin Planning High-Profile Attacks."

In mid-July, reporting started to indicate that Bin Ladin's plans had been delayed, maybe for as long as two months, but not abandoned. On July 23, the lead item for CSG discussion was still the al Qaeda threat, and it included mention of suspected terrorist travel to the United States.

On July 27, Clarke informed Rice and Hadley that the spike in intelligence about a near-term al Qaeda attack had stopped. He urged keeping readiness high during the August vacation period, warning that another report suggested an attack had just been postponed for a few months "but will still happen."

The August 6 Presidential Daily Brief titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US." It was the 36th PDB item briefed so far that year that related to Bin Ladin or al Qaeda, and the first devoted to the possibility of an attack in the United States.

The President told us the August 6 report was historical in nature.

These are just parts of a very lengthy article which you can read here:

http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/911/report/911Report_Ch8.htm

The point is that Bush continued his vacation because clearing brush at his TX ranch was more "fun" than spending time, money and other resources to follow up on all the screaming intel.

Here's one, but it sure wasn't taken at the RNC. http://www.capitolhillblue.com/node/43806

    ******************************

Behind the scenes, Republicans close to Romney's campaign say there are no plans to use Bush in a significant way and that the signal from Romney's Boston headquarters — it's loaded with veterans of Bush's two successful campaigns — is that any role for Bush would be minimal at best. The Republicans, who insisted on anonymity to discuss strategy, said Romney's team will determine, if it hasn't already, how best to recognize Bush at the party's national convention in August in Florida, where Bush's brother, Jeb, was governor.
    ******************************

It is clear that Bush's advisers have simply been transferred to Wrongme. That's the policies he will back. Back is an appropriate word. We'll be going back.

Do you baggers REALLY want to relive the Bush years? I sure don't.

As a native Texan, it’s disappointing, though not surprising, that a Romney would come here to raise money.

Bush was FAR worse increasing the National Debt than Carter. That is one thing the republicans HAVE BUILT.

Look up "national debt by president" to learn the facts. Democrats, including President Obama, added to the debt far less than any republican.

Same with the economy, jobs, stock market. All these areas have historically done better under Democratic administrations than republicans. Read it and weep. Then wipe your eyes, and get that damn teabagger obstructionist coalition out of there.

That's funny because Barbara Bush was quoted a little while ago as saying the Republican candidates this time were the worst she'd ever seen. She didn't say "except for Romney". It would also be nice if GWB could show a little class for once and try to stay out of partisan politics now that he's had his chance. Isn't that what ex-presidents generally do -- try to stay neutral and support the president in office and keep their partisan opinions to themselves?

Considering that Romney has hired almost all of Bush's/Cheney's advisors, his direction for this country is direct, back to the Bush Whitehouse, more wars for profit, less monies for Americans pockets. Almost seems a choice between “Good or Evil”.

Relating to the Bush's, who almost all Americans are disgusted with, just doesn't seem to be a very smart move for Romney.
