While the presidential campaign remains the main event of the 2012 election season, a fierce, state-by-state battle is also underway to determine which party will control the U.S. Senate for the next two years. And a series of NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls shows Democrats with an edge in two of the most closely-watched races and tied in a third.
In Ohio and Florida, the Democratic candidate holds a solid lead, while in Virginia – where former governor and onetime DNC chairman Tim Kaine faces former Republican Sen. George Allen in a marquee battle – the candidates are in a dead heat.
Republicans had entered the 2012 cycle with high hopes of winning all three races. All are seats currently held by Democrats, and winning any of them would advance the GOP toward the net gain of four seats they need to take back control of the Senate come January.
In Virginia, Kaine and Allen are deadlocked at 46 percent apiece with likely voters.
In Ohio, incumbent Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown leads Republican State Treasurer Josh Mandel 49 percent to 42 percent.
And in Florida, two-term Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson, leads GOP Rep. Connie Mack 51 percent to 37 percent. Twelve percent of Florida voters said they were undecided about the race.
With only 54 days until the election, these three polls suggest that Republicans still have work to do if they wish to achieve their goal of retaking control of the Senate. Democrats must defend 23 of the 33 Senate seats on the ballot this fall, a numerical disadvantage that buoyed GOP hopes of reaching their goal early in the cycle, especially since many of the Democratic-held seats are also in hotly contested presidential battlegrounds.
President Barack Obama leads Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in Virginia, Ohio and Florida, according to the same NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls released Thursday.
Each of the Marist polls was conducted Sept. 9-11. Each poll has a 3.1 percent margin of error for its sample of likely voters.

Excuse me, didn't I hear Romney recently state that it would take him TWO TERMS to get this economy turned around? So if it would take him TWO terms, why do all of you GOP types think Obama should have been able to do it in less than one term, saddled with a Congress that would only say "NO" and fillibustering every time they had a chance? Maybe in a round about way you're suggesting Obama DOES have the smarts enough to do the job! Vote OBAMA/BIDEN in 2012 and HILLARY CLINTON in 2016! It is more than clear that Obama is planning for the total control and takeover of America via Martial Law. Food, energy, transportation, work, banking, and health: he has it covered.
While Obama is busy pulling executive orders out of the sky to control everything inside our country, he has been issuing executive orders to force us to submit to international regulations instead of our Constitution.
Maybe "We the people" can actually get this country running again. If we re-elect the President who cares and un-elect the congress that obstructs, we can come together, show concern for one another, and work our way out of this republican recession.

A New Fear Has Struck the Tea Party and GOP Workers
The new fear that has struck deep behind the Tea Party and GOP workers is the temporary employee.
The temporary employee strikes fear into such full time employees because of the following:
1.Temporaries are employed on many job fronts thus adding alot of different skills to their overall employability that cannot be achieved with the single minded full time employee. When a temporary employee is asked or tasked to do a job they are more able to do the job because of the skills that they have learned from being employed in other jobs.
2.Temporaries are always shunned and harassed by the full time employees until they side with the political group wanting a new member to bolster their political ranks in the work place. But unknown to the full time employee is that the temporary employee has been around alot more people than the full time employee has been and can see through their b.s and head games they play to make them join the political group. So while the full time employees are engaged in their political activism which takes away from getting the job done the temporary employee simple smiles and goes about their duties knowing how much vomit is coming from their mouths.
Temporary employees strike fear into the Tea Party because the Tea Party workers know that such an employee can see through their b.s. and the more that the full timer tries to get at the temporary the more that the temporary has them by marbles where one day if upper management calls on them to become a full time employee and a supervisor that the temporary will already know the little finger snaps and thoughts that full timers use to try and control the temporaries politics which then makes the temporary employee able to control the full timers that once harassed them to get them back on track.
Hell hath no furry as the temporary employee.
They're afraid of people with brains as well. It's so easy to see through them. They took over in 2010 and in just 2 years, the entire country can see what they are......empty suits and bigots as well.

It is no wonder that the electorate, after weighing the damage wreaked upon our economy by the Republicans (2000-2008) along with the the failure of the Republicans in Congress to assist in solving the economic malaise they caused our country, have failed miserably to produce a presidential candidate worthy of the office.

Not surprised at the polls in the races that were mentioned. However, the other races to watch are Nevada, Montana, Missouri, North Dakota, Indiana, and Massachusetts. Polls are very close in each of these states and the incumbents are split as 3 DEM and 3 GOP. Each party has to defend 3 seats and try to pick up 1 to 3 seats in the other states. Wisconsin and Nebraska look like they will flip from DEM to GOP. GOP needs to defend Nevada, Indiana, and Massachusetts while picking up Wisconsin and Nebraska plus 2 more states to control the Senate.

We would like to hire you but with the economy being what it is - would you work under the table for 2 days for $50 - moving pipe from the east yard to the west yard. 2- we want to hire but with the new health care rules - we can't afford health insurance - you will get a $1200 penalty on your 1040 but if you get the earned income credit-the credit can be used to pay your fine-we can pay $25 a day under the table if you will haul our fat fryer grease to the recycling center. 3. we ain't hiring-too risky in this economy-if you work for cash under the table-we can give you a week - if you get hurt - we will put you on right away as an employee so workers comp. covers you - haul those shingles up the ladder-$10/hr.
Maybe some of you have jobs but not everyone does - I do not know your states - but a lot of states do not have what other states have - jobs are really scarce and have been for 3 years - when Mr. Romney said - security is my first priority, jobs are second priority - it hit me that he knows what we need - he gets my vote. On taxes - tax rates are set by the tax code - Mr. Romney pays for his tax rate - same as the Obama's and the Kennedy's and Clint Eastwood and I pay for my tax rate as the tax law shows - if you do not like a law - work at changing it. When 99 weeks of unemployment is gone - you wait for section 8 housing, a free bus pass, $443 of food stamps, $285 cash allowance and used clothes - it is not a good time or fun. Romney/2012.
