Clinton, the campaign's chief explainer, rallies for Obama in Florida

MIAMI, Fla. – Former President Bill Clinton on Tuesday continued to relish his unofficial role as the chief explainer of what is at stake in the November election, this time tailoring his message to the young crowd gathered at Florida International University.

Speaking to 2,300 supporters, including many students, Clinton used the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks as a chance to talk about the importance of service -- specifically voting.

"I keep reading that young people are not quite sure if they're going to vote. I tried to argue down in Charlotte last week that that's a mistake, that we have a lot of reasons to vote and we have a good candidate to vote for," said Clinton.

Young Americans were a key group that helped propel President Obama to victory in 2008, but polling shows that enthusiasm has not matched the level of four years ago.

In Florida, Clinton also reached out to older Americans, saying Republicans have spread "misinformation" about Democrats plans for Medicare.  It is the same misinformation that led the GOP to an electoral landslide in the 2010 midterms, Clinton said.

"They got away with running this old dog through the chute in 2010 and countless thousands of seniors voted because they were given misinformation against people who supported a plan to strengthen Medicare," said Clinton. "So I'm talking about it everywhere because the first time they did it, it was their fault. If we let it happen again, it is out fault."

Clinton also fought back against the claims vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan and other Republicans have made, arguing that Obama has cut $716 billion from Medicare.

"Embarrassingly for the Republicans, the nominee for vice president who's chair of the house budget committee, produced a budget that had exactly the same callings for savings that the Obama budget did, and that was true in 2010 when they were advertising against it. Now, as I said in Charlotte, you got to hand it to them; it takes real brass to attack people for doing what you did," Clinton said.

According to a Pew Research poll, Clinton's keynote address last week was for many the highlight of the Democratic convention, drawing an even more favorable rating than Obama's speech.  It was a straight-forward assessment of why the president deserves re-election, and it is the same message he took down to the swing-state of Florida on Tuesday. The man who has been dubbed the "Explainer-in-chief" heads to Orlando Wednesday for another rally.

Along with Medicare and the economic recovery, Clinton also defended the president's record on solar energy and the often shied away topic of the stimulus, saying it helped prevent even high levels of unemployment.  All of it, Clinton said, has laid the foundation for an economic recovery that will be at risk if Mitt Romney is elected.

"The test is not whether you think everything is hunky-dory. If that were the test, the president would vote against himself.  He said that everything is not hunky-dory," he said. "The test is whether he's taken us in the right direction, and the answer is yes."

there's no end to democrat party lies. Bill (I did not have sex with that woman) Clinton is now out telling more lies to boost a guy he hates because he know that guy is incompetent. If there was ever a president with a worse record in every category than Barrack Obama I don't know who that might be. But go ahead, vote for Obama and say goodbye to this great country and hello to poverty for all.

Did you know that the dems showed a photo of Russian warships as a backdrop to their tribute to veterans? What a bunch of incompetent socialist minded losers.

    Uhhh, Steve,

A president with a worse record? Really? I know Republicans hate it when we do this, but check out his predecessor. I'll save you a trip to the Websters and tell you that's the guy before him. Really??

For the second time, I agree with something said by President Stinky (aka BO). The first was that this election is offering us a stark choice. The other was when he said that BJ Clinton could be the "explainer of sh!t". That he is. If he has to go around talking about Stinks, then he truly is the explainer of sh!t.

Time to get that sh!t out of the White House.

When Obama wins Romney will be running against Hillary and believe me that won't be a pretty result for Romney...that is if the Republican's are stupid enough to give him the nod to run!

I expect Christie will run on 2016. I don't agree with everything he says and I've lost respect for him for campaigning so hard for Romney, but there are points to Christie that I like. He doesn't sugar coat what he's thinking for one thing.

Hillary will probably run in 2016, but she will have to win the Democratic nomination as well. I'm not sure she will be able to do that. If she does it will be largely on the popularity of her husband.

Obama steps on his dick again...

On the final night of last week's convention when retired Adm. John Nathman paid tribute to veterans, in front of a gigantic screen that showed ships from the Russian Federation Navy, according to The Navy Times.

The Democratic National Convention Committee was contacted Wednesday but did not comment.

Hey teatards --- this is the reality. President Obama is going to be reelected in November. If Bill Clinton cold run again, he would win in a landslide. If George W. Bush could run again, he would have a hard time carrying Texas. And -- come 2016, if you don't come up with a better selection of candidate and some new ideas, Hillary just may be your next president.

Gawd, I hope Hillary doesn't run in 2016. I expect that she will, but I can hope.

I like Bill, hate Hillary. She's done a decent job as secretary of state, but I just don't think that she has the cult of personality that her husband has and won't be able to get people to work with her. She's more the type to force people to do what she wants than convince them.

                Iowa - Guy,

You know, every time I get on my right wing acquaintances about their hate and fear, they always deny they "hate" anybody, and never use the word. Here you say that despite the fact she's done a good job, you HATE her. Do you really "hate" her? Why the hate? Can't you just disagree with someone?

Then you say she probably can't get people to work with her. How the hell could she do a good job as SoS without getting people to work with her. You people don't even listen to yourselves, for cryin' out loud! If you did, you wouldn't say half the stupid stuff you do.

Hi Charlie, how are things going in sixth grade? Do you and the other kids still make up funny names for the grown-up words that you don't like or understand?

How about the Topiramate pills that you've been taking? Have they evened out your disposition? It doesn't look like they have. You still need to use bold lettering so you'll be noticed, and your mind still seems to wander.

                  Good luck Charlie.

It is a smart move for Obama to use Clinton as a mouth piece. Clinton is considered to be a popular president and more so a good speaker. Whether or not you agree with what Clinton is saying you should at least acknowledge that he is a persuasive speaker. Otherwise, you are living in denial and will have not the means to counter any of his arguments.

So during what dems call a republican war on women, they trot out a serial groper/ stalker and accused rapist to be the spokesperson. This is the same d-bag who said of Obama "a couple years ago, this guy would be carrying our bags" when he was trying to get Kennedy (another creep and woman killer) to support Hillary.

This shows what two-bit whores both Clinton and Obama are. Anything to stay in power.

Anyone who believes that Bill Clinton is out campaigning for Obama is a total idiot!!!!!

What we are witnessing is the Hillary 2016 Campaign in full swing!

The Clinton's need Obama to win 2012 to pave the way for Hillary 2016. If Obama wins and economy & jobs remain in toilet - Hillary claims she tried to advise Obama but he wouldn't listen. She is a shoe in against a Biden; Wasserman-Schultz; Castro Bros; Duval Patrick field. If Obama wins and the economy & jobs begin to get better - Hillary claims she was on board during the tough years.

If, by some chance Romney win, it over for Hillary - she'll be too old after 8-12-16 years.

Everyone knows that their is NO LOVED LOST between the Clinton's and the Obama...Bill is NOT out campaigning for Obama - he is campaigning for Hillary 2016.

Clinton was right, the youth vote must come back as they are the stewards of America's future and if they don't watch it, it will be stolen. Bill touching on Medicare in Florida is to show the most vulnerable the real impact of messing with Medicare. The
TEA-Libertarian-GOP-Republican-Evangelical party have been wanting to privatize Medicare and voucher it in such a way as it could be outsourced to companies for and at a profit. Face it, the rich are always looking for ways to increase their bottom lines while passing the tax burden onto the middle class. Many of the current Social programs currently in place have helped numerous get back into society and productive no matter how many lies you have been told. Everyone should know the TEA-Libertarian-GOP-Republican-Evangelical party does not have sole control of honor, pride and respect for the flag, national anthem or God. They hide behind the flag as if they are the only ones who can do it right. The TEA-Libertarian-GOP-Republican-Evangelical party try to spread pixie dust over every pronouncement and speech they make to take votes away from the president. There are just as many veterans and church goers in the Democratic party as there are in their parties.

So Rudy, your answer to Medicare is to simply do what politicians on both sides of the aisle have been doing for 20-years...just keep kicking the problem down the road long enough to get there respective butts the hell out of Washington?

Pretty sad that Obama is an official apologist to the Muslim Brotherhood and the rest of the Muslim wold. Folks, this nation is slowly being taken down a path of destruction.

A President who does not protect our foreign embassies is not a real President. He is a complete failure. He is the same guy that 2 days ago said, "America has nothing to worry about". Its too late to send Marines and two US navy ships off the Libyan coast.

It also a sad day in America when the news media will collude with each other in what questions should be asked of Mitt Romney. They didn't know a mike was on as they talked to each other preparing to lay a trap. Romney didn't fall for any of it!

Will Mitt Romney be a real President that you can rely upon? Will he really?

Let's look at some quotes from his time as Governor of Massachusetts:

"I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose, and I am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard."
                                    – Televised debate while running for Massachusetts Governor in 2002.

August 31, 1994, when Mitt Romney was running for US Senate against Ted Kennedy. Romney had told the homosexual activists, "I'll be better than Ted Kennedy on gay rights," and he added, "There's something to be said for having a Republican who supports civil rights in this broader context, including sexual orientation."

Romney filled out a Planned Parenthood candidate survey in 2002 and stated in his survey that he supports: Roe vs. Wade; State funding for abortions; Requiring insurance to cover contraception; a Buffer zone around abortion clinics; Sex education for kids in school; and increased access to emergency contraception in places like Catholic hospitals.

Wow... This guy is MORE liberal than Obama. Democrats ought to be flocking to Mitt. What else will he do for all the conservatives who want him elected?

In an interview with Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" on 12/16/2007 Romney said he was OK with appointing an atheist to the Supreme Court, as Attorney-General, or to the head of the Department of Education.

Well... Romney appears all over the map when it comes to social issues (though I'd paint him as more a liberal than a conservative; especially when one considers his efforts to avoid the draft during Vietnam). ...But he's a successful businessman, let's look to his fiscal record:

The reality is that Romney’s tenure as governor of Massachusetts was an economic disaster for the state. The biggest myth of all, perhaps, is that he didn’t raise taxes. The reality, however, is that Governor Romney passed a host of new tax and fee increases, hitting the corporate world hard and devastating job creation. As Peter Nicholas, chairman of Boston Science Corporation, stated,“tax rates on many corporations almost doubled because of legislation supported by Romney.”

The Cato Institute reported that in his first year as Governor, Romney “proposed $140 [million] in business tax hikes through the closing of ‘loopholes’ in the tax code.” But what Romney labeled as “closing loopholes” actually resulted in the doubling of tax rates for certain businesses. As Nicholas explains,“Romney’s tax policies were not helpful for many small businesses…when Romney took many IRS subchapter S businesses in Massachusetts and almost doubled their tax rates, it was an important disincentive to investment, growth and job creation.” As Joseph Crosby of the Council on State Taxation wrote, “Romney went further than any other governor in trying to wring money out of corporations.”

Romney also raised taxes on business again in 2004 and 2005, for a grand total of $309 million levied upon the corporate sector. He then signed a bill to allow local governments to increase taxes on business property, tried to raise taxes on hotels (but was stopped by the Democrat legislature!), joined a coalition lobbying congress to tax internet activity, and supported a tax on out-of- state commuters.

Nor did Romney fight the passage of higher rates on death taxes; indeed, when this issue came up in the legislature, his official position was “no position.” Now, there’s a profile in courage. Moreover, Governor Romney raised gas taxes two cents a gallon and also supported a federal gas tax hike. He also proposed an excise tax on SUVs and a new sales tax on all used cars.

Oooh... Ouch, I think he's not going to come through with those tax cuts everyone thinks he's going to deliver.

I guess we do need a REAL President. I don't think Romney is the guy, but keep trying. Until then, we have a real president in Obama. Best to stick with someone who knows how to stick to his guns and positions he takes.

Yep... I have no shame when I use Romney's own words and actions to demonstrate that this man has no moral compass, and has no actual position that is his own. When asked about his position, Mitt simply says, "What position are you willing to reward me for having".

Yeah, that about sums it up.
