Politico notes how the Obama campaign has been hitting Romney on national security – hard. “Romney — whose convention speech didn’t include a salute to the troops or a reference to Afghanistan, where about 75,000 Americans are still at war — is getting hit almost daily now by Democratic attacks that he is wobbly and therefore untrustworthy on national security. It’s the same critique Republicans used to undermine Kerry to devastating effect eight years ago — and the Obama campaign plans to use the run-up to the presidential debates to make a major issue of Romney’s surprising convention stumble.”

benLaden and Kadaffi are dead, that is a very good national security plan for me. Kadaffi was more of a threat to Americans than Saddam Hussain ever was, Kadaffi should have been taken out by ronnie, georgie 1 or bill clinton for the deaths of our brave service men and women and somehow it took us this long to get him. The world is a better place because those two are gone and I hope the families of the 911 attacks along with the families of those killed over Lockerbee and in the bombing of the nightclub where American officers were in Germany can finally have the peace and justice they deserve.
Khadafi the terrorist was kept alive because of the oil. While the GOP boasts of taking out terrorist safe havens and protecting America, they're really protecting their friends in the oil industry. Similarly, they let Bin Laden slip away so that we would still have a bogeyman once Sadaam Hussain was dead...this worked as planned, enabling them to spend massively on defense and line the pockets of their friends in defense and themselves. Rest assured that a big chunk of the pallets of cash that were lost in Iraq came back in private planes. The Democrats like to kill bad guys so we can reduce defense spending and spend more on rebuilding at home. They will get my vote.

yes, oil...
and it was the Bush Administration who said that Iraqi oil would pay for the costs of the war...
...it paid someone for something but it definitely was not paid to the U.S. taxpayer or did it cover any cost of the war.
The "Arab spring" was a disaster for Obama and the middle east... Iran is about to get nukes and he has all but taken a dump on Israel...
There's lots more, but I don't have to go any farther...you get the picture... this administration's foreign policy is a DISASTER!!
The middle class and your grandchildren can't afford 4 more!!
I don't agree with you MAXX on the arab spring - for one thing, we had little to do with it (and should not have - not our business). Iran probably is not the bad guy the republicans like to taunt, but it is a convenient bad guy and they use whatever they can find. While I almost always support Israel, there are times I'd like to take a dump on Israel myself. By the way, who did you defend before WW II? There was no Israel then so the argument of we always gotta support Israel is lost on me. God often punished Israel when they did not behave.
One thing the working/middle class (those of use who work and make less than $100,000 per household - the true working/middle class) cannot afford is another trickle down economics policy. I worked very hard in the 80's, so did my husband (just like we do every day now), it sure was difficult raising two small children on what trickled down on us! We are much, much better off than we were in the 80's and we are much, much better off than we were 4 years ago or 6 years ago for that matter. We are not concerned about the 1% because they sure are not concerned about us.
Union Baby said,
"I don't agree with you MAXX on the arab spring"
Don't look now Union baby but they are climbing the wall to our embassy in Egypt right now....
Oh, btw...Obama said NO to a meet with Natenyahu...
You have NO idea what you are talking about!!
Obama's policy in the middle east is a disaster!!
Let's just hope we don't have another hostage situation in Egypt like Iran...
That was another foreign policy disaster... hmm who was President?... oh yeah... Carter...oh s#%&!!
I won't comment on the economy section of your comment because I have embarrassed you enough for one day!!
The middle class and your grandchildren can't afford 4 more!!

Maxx Power:
Oh, there you go again with Carter. Nobody in the 70's was still talking about Hoover and Carter sure didn't leave Reagan the mess Hoover left FDR. Carter is the most virtuous man that we've had in the White House in 100 years. He was fiscally responsible (leaving Reagan a very small deficit which Reagan then quadrupled with his tax cuts), kept us out of war (something the GOP hasn't been able to do in a long, long time), made peace between Egypt and Israel, saved Chrysler (the first time) with loans that were paid back, and actually got many Republican votes for his proposals. (Those were the days when the GOP didn't vote in lock step in opposition to everything proposed by the Democrats.) After his presidency, no person on earth can rival him on selfless commitment to world peace and ending disease and hunger. He's a veritable Gandhi. A Republican president would have bombed Iran because of the hostages (and perhaps gotten the hostages killed).
But you would still prefer an idiot like W., because a tough talking moron makes you feel comfortable - right at home. You'd get us into another war with Iran - lickety split.
Maxx, just because you write things doesn't make them true, nor even make sense.
You say the Arab Spring has been a disaster. Explain. Are you saying that democracy and self-determination are only good for some countries and not for others? There's no doubt that the young Middle Eastern democracies have a lot of maturing to do, but there's no time like the present to start.
Iran (which, incidentally, has nothing to do with the Arab Spring; it's not clear if that's what you're suggesting) is years away from "getting nukes." What alternative to current policy are you asking for? War? Well, I disagree.
I'll tell you what scares me for our future. Having a spineless, unprincipled flip-flopper like Romney as Commander-in-Chief.
War with Iran? Be very careful what you wish for.
well said Ron B, well said.
Obama/Biden 2012
go Steelers
i agree with everything but the Steelers! Go Pats.
big thanks to our troops!
Ron, well said. Thanks
Hey, thanks, guys. My post was supposed to be a reply under Maxx's but the site had a major hiccup. Naturally, not my fault :)
Although never a Penn State fan, I am seriously down on football right now -- especially college football, for reasons both footballish and otherwise.
But I have to say, Peyton Manning is sure fun to watch, as long as you're not rooting against him.
Ron B. from Pittsburg,
Don't put words in my comments... I have never said anything about WAR with anyone... PERIOD!!
The middle east is a powder keg waiting to go off and you can't see it because of the rose colored glasses you have on!!
The last thing we need is Obama and the "foreign policy expert" Biden making decisions that could destabilize the area and disrupt the oil flow/industry and therefore the world economy!!
Pretty soon we will all pay for Obama's inability to have a coherent forgein policy!!
BTW, putting a cap in bin laden is not foreign policy for all you experts out there... but I will give him credit for pulling the trigger on the operation!!
The middle class and your grandchildren can't afford 4 more!!

I read the book that the Navy Seal wrote about taking out Bin Laden. The same one that everyone is accusing the author of leaking national security secrets. Nothing in there that wasn't already leaked by the white house or the media. I find it very interesting that Obama is so eager to take credit for work that others had dedicated themselves to for over 10 years. Afghanistan is worse than it was before he took office. We should have never been involved in Libya publicly, as well as Egypt. The only real success that I see with Obama is that he did give the order to pull the trigger on Bin Laden.
