Biden: Romney can't say which loopholes he'd close to lower taxes

MILFORD, OH – Citing Mitt Romney's appearance on NBC's Meet the Press earlier in the day, Vice President Joe Biden took aim Sunday at Romney's failure to name specific tax loopholes he would close to lower taxes and balance the budget.

"He said that he's gonna pay for all these tax cuts by closing the loopholes, but when asked by Mr. Gregory what loopholes he'd close, he couldn't name one," Biden told a crowd of 700 supporters at a western Ohio high school.

"All this has a giant price tag and it's not going to come from closing loopholes for millionaires," he added.

On NBC, host David Gregory asked Romney to specify how he would eliminate tax deductions and exceptions in order to compensate for the enormous financial consequences of his deep tax cut proposals.

Romney responded only by noting that "people at the high end" would have fewer opportunities for tax exemptions, but he declined to pinpoint any specific numbers or policies.

“High income taxpayers are going to have fewer deductions and exemptions... Those numbers are going to come down. Otherwise, they'd get a tax break. And I want to make sure people understand, despite what the Democrats said at their convention. I am not reducing taxes on high income taxpayers. I'm bringing down the rate of taxation, but also bringing down deductions and exemptions at the high end so the revenues stay the same, the taxes people pay stay the same. Middle income people are going to get a break. But at the high end, the tax coming in stays the same. But we encourage small business, because small business is able to keep more of what it makes and therefore hire more people, which is my priority.”

The stop in Clermont County, a heavily-Republican area that supported John McCain by a 2-1 margin in 2008, was Biden's final campaign event of a two-day swing through Ohio. He will return to the Buckeye State next Wednesday to campaign in Dayton.

The only loopholes I believe they plan to close are the ones the Middle and Lower Classes use...like mortgage interest rate deductions, charitable contributions deductions, etc..

Oh yeah...and the loophole that allows people their freedom.

'Socialism', 'Plutocracy', and 'Corporate Fascism'...take your pick at the polls.

Now the question I would like to pose to any right wing blogger, if you can tell me what insurance company offers people over 70 health insurance equivalent to medicare. Better yet, for 12K/year (double the voucher amount)

It simply does not exist, other than a wing nut fantasy. However, show me the policy and I'll vote for Romney. If you can't, you have to vote for Obama. Will you take my bet?

Dubya1, you can go on with this all night but these fools are still writing above the Obama took $700 million from Medicare. Its like climate change. No matter how much evidence you show them they keep putting out the same couple invalidated counter-arguments. You are right, for all of the bad things in Obamacare it does more good than bad.

every time the wing nuts are spouting off, I ask a few simple questions and they disappear. I can see why Obama is smoking Romney in the swing states, what I can't get is how some 45% of voters are voting for Romney, with a more liberal record than Obama. He won't produce the taxes, but I just want to see the heath policy a senior can buy with a voucher. Ryan needs to spend a tour in Afiganistan, might learn a few things about sending kids off to Iraq.

The tax rate on high-income people has already been reduced, thanks to Bush. That's part of what got us into this mess. So Romney is saying he's going to reduce the rate further, yet somehow make up for it by reducing the exemptions and deductions? So at best, the net taxes paid will be the same -- according to what he's said here.

Seriously, this guy is a tool. Vote for Romney at your own peril.

Romney is not going to tell anyone his "plan" until/if he is elected! If he were to do so, he would most certainly lose! Whether his tax reform entails increasing the taxes of the middle class by up to $2000 annually or doesn't truly decrease the taxes of those "on the high end", he loses!

It has been reported that Obama needs only 316,000 more "new jobs" created by election day to have enabled those unemployed since he took his oath of office to become employed once again. When considering the obstacles (GOP) he has faced from day one, that's remarkable! The remaining 10+ million were unemployed when he took office ... MAY have been working now had the GOP been working for the people who "hired" them rather than pandering to their party! I've never been particularly good at math but creating 96,000 jobs in one month alone is many times better than losing 800,000 in one month - as was happening the last year of the GOP's reign!

One can only imagine how good the economy may have been at this time had the GOP been less concerned with continued tax cuts for the wealthy - and some of those DEMS more concerned with re-election than with the welfare of their constituents - supported the president's jobs plans put forth.

Romney has a dilemna ... for all the millions of dollars several of his contributors can throw into his campaign, EACH of them can cast only ONE vote. It is shameful that they would use their wealth to buy the presidency rather than put their wealth to use for the good of this nation - it would have been less costly to create jobs to put millions to work.

Romney, the tax avoidance guru and businessman we're all supposed to revere, couldn't think of even one tax deduction he would eliminate? Incredible! How about starting right at the top and eliminating the carried interest deduction that he and his hedge fund friends have been using for years to avoid tax rates that every W2 and W4 employed person pays. Mr. Romney, you are indeed a flim-flam man and have no business being President of these United States.

Where are Mitt's Tax Records? Check with the IRS, they seem to have no problems.

A better question might be, "WHY HAS OBAMA SPENT OVER $1.5 MILLION DOLLAR$ HIDING HIS OWN PERSONAL RECORDS?"

WHERE IS....

Jeff Immelt, Obama's "jobs czar" and CEO of General Electric MOVED the ENTIRE Medical Division from Wisconsin to China.

General Electric Co. (GE)’s health-care unit, the world’s biggest maker of medical-imaging machines, is moving the headquarters of its 115-year-old X-ray business to Beijing to tap growth in China.

The headquarters will move from Waukesha, Wisconsin, amid a broader parent-company plan to invest about $2 billion across China, including opening six “customer innovation” and development centers.

The romney man should close the loophole where foreign accounts actually earn their income from activities in this country and not a foreign country. What's the point of having a foreign account if they make all their income in this country. It isn't a legitimate business operation where you have a foreign account that earns income in the foreign country where the account is established.

But the romney man could care less. His minions have already made up their minds to vote for him. Regardless of whether or not he paid any income taxes during the last 10 years. And when you ask them to watch the 911 video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDfdOwt2v3Y

I tell you cheney's order had to have been don't shoot the attacking plane down because the military man would have asked his order still stand question at 50 miles and not 10 miles if it had been otherwise. A terrible decision say sooo many because 200 military died because of the incoming aircraft was not shot down.

Ok. Ok. And i heard last nite Philip Marshall, cia agent & airline pilot, talk about 911 and his many books including false flag 911. And how he finds abundant evidence implicating a nexus of Saudi officials, American contractors and, most unthinkably, members of the Bush administration. But the supporters of the romney man will tell you that cheney did the right thing because 911 was to begin the invasion of iraq according to philip marshal. And don't forget, the reason why mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com got away with 911 was because they had control of both the house and senate. I tell you obama needs all the help he can get in congress.

Compared to the rnc convention, the dnc convention had real people. The rnc convention had puppets going through their controlled, robotic motions with the exception of clint eastwood who said that this country is your country and the politicians are your hired hands who work for you. Never forget that he told the rnc convention. It's something the kock bros were soooo upset about. Because the rnc politicians were their hired hands, not yours.

Anyway, so obama gets a lift from the dnc convention but in fact the kock bros will be attacking the senate and house races in every state too. Throwing hundreds of millions of dollars there to. They intend to outspend not only obama but the entire dnc house and senate candidates by a ratio of at least 25 to 1 like they did for the governor of wisconson. Money is everything. Their motto - govt of the kocks, by the kocks, & for the kocks. Causing govt for the people to perish. Exactly what clint eastwood was warning about at the rnc convention.

The Theory of Class Warfare per Karl Marx, sound familiar?

Many social thinkers throughout history have noted that different groups' interests conflict. Marx's distinctive contributions were, first, to paint class conflict as a life-and-death struggle impossible of peaceful resolution; second, to treat membership in a class as essentially permanent and hereditary. The combination of these principles led him to sanction and indeed to urge "total war" against hated social classes, a war in which all methods are permissible against anyone with the wrong class background. Passage after passage in the Marxian corpus hammers home this brutal message:

For the second consecutive year, the Democrat-controlled United States Senate has unanimously rejected President Obama's 2013 budget. The final vote was 99-0, making the the running two-year tally 196-0. This move follows the House of Representatives' 414-0 rebuke of the same fiscal blueprint earlier this year. Astonishingly, not a single Senate Democrat has voted in favor of any OBAMA budget forthree years, even as they refuse to offer a plan of their own.
