As the campaigns continued to trade salvos over the accuracy of claims made in both parties' convention speeches, Vice President Joe Biden said on Saturday that he's happy to be under the microscope of fact checkers.

"I say to the press, 'Fact check me,'" the vice president declared before launching into a lengthy critique of the Republican plan for Medicare overhaul.
"What they're proposing will actually cost the Medicare trust fund that pays for the benefits when you go to the hospital, the doctor, to run out of money, a sufficient amount of money by 2016," he said. "That's when it would hit the wall."
Biden's claim echoes one made Wednesday night by former President Bill Clinton, who said that the Romney-Ryan goal of repealing the Affordable Care Act would eliminate that bill's measures to keep Medicare solvent until 2024, pushing the date when Medicare will "go broke" up by 8 years.
The non-partisan factcheck.org found that to be an exaggeration; while repeal of ACA would mean the earlier exhaustion of the part of Medicare that covers hospitals, the fund would still collect payroll taxes to cover the vast majority of hospital bills.
The Washington Post put it more bluntly: "This is wrong," it wrote on Sept. 6 of Biden's 2016 Medicare solvency claim.
On Saturday, Biden also accused Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryanof proposing to turn the federal health insurance program for seniors into "Vouchercare," saying that the Romney-Ryan plan would raise costs for seniors.
Independent fact checkers have pointed out that while Ryan's most recent budget would provide private insurance vouchers which would grow at the rate of inflation rather than at the rate of health costs, it would also keep traditional Medicare as an option for seniors who wanted it. While most agree that it's likely that seniors would have to pay more if they chose Medicare, it's hard to project how health care costs would change under a hypothetical Romney-Ryan plan.
"Today, Vice President Biden said that he should be fact-checked, and we agree," said Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg. "The vice president knowingly and deliberately leveled false and discredited attacks."
The fact check challenge comes after a Romney pollster was quoted saying that "we're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers." Paul Ryan's convention speech was heavily criticized for citing several discredited claims.
Biden poked fun at that sentiment Saturday, calling it "amazing" that the Romney campaign "doesn't like to be fact checked."
Addressing the crowd of about 450 at an Ohio elementary school, Biden also needled Republicans for their impassioned support for Medicare.
"If … you got dropped down from Mars and turned on the convention, you'd think that they really cared about it. You'd think it's something they thought of," Biden said of Republicans.
“They mention it so often you'd be surprised to learn that they've always been trying to chip away [from it] for the last 40 years," he added.
Another fact check? You can't survive on Mars.

Jobs report yesterday was a disgrace 360000 people dropped out of the market stopped looking for work, have had enough, disgusted. There are 23 million out of work. I have heard this on several news channels. Many larger businesses will not hire until after the election. This and the next two months are not fair assessments of the job market.

Highest listed rate, not effective tax rate (effective is the amount that is actually paid after deductions). Based on available tax deductions, the US drops down to 6th (2011). 2012 rankings have not yet been released.

And try less than 80 regulations (even per The Heritage Network), not "thousands" and some of those were carried over from President Bush's administration.

You can't over burden companies with regulations. They cost money, money that could be use to hire people and those regulations are political in nature..
I was in the military and we were tested before we enlisted and were always told that to get in the Air Force required the highest test scores but I have to wonder about USAF?
Stan if employees are needed because of demand they will be hired....And how do banking and stock trading regulations cost an awning shop(Or any other small business that is just an example since I have direct knowledge of that and haven't seen any new regulations affecting that just tax cuts for hiring military personnel and in the near future the affordable care act will have implications but that hasn't happened yet) money ?
You can't underburden them either unless you think that Love Canal, mercury caused birth defects, people losing their wells to contaminated aquifers, increased COPD due to air pollution, and increased cancer due to PCBs are acceptable results of economic development.

RYAN's idea of having a "voucher" system for Medicare payments would be destructive.
By imposing a voucher means that the charges or the bills that you receive from a Doctor or a Hospital for services would be subject to the Fee schedules from the Doctors or Hospitals. Those Fee schedules increase every year and will continue to increase, leaving the patient to pay more.
The Medicare Fee schedule is the standard, it has 45 Million seniors on that schedule. That schedule is analysed every year by the Center for Medicare Services - CMS.
Every year CMS collects every single bill for all services including prescriptions, ambulance runs, Lab services, Doctor office visits, and Hospital stays and surgeries.
Those bills are collected and sent to congress to approve, and then budgeted for the next year.
Having RYAN's voucher only means the Government not be in a position to budget costs for services; the Hospitals and Doctors will.
If that is allowed to happen Hospitals and Doctors will raise their Fee schedules, and there will be no entity to REGULATE those costs.
RYAN rubber stamped every single increase and Tax break when Bush was in office that created the economic mess we now are saddled with. Now RYAN says he has the answer to fix the economy.
RYAN isn't the answer, RYAN is the problem.
RYAN calling for vouchers, is his plan to take away the pricing authority and regulations of CMS and Congress for Medicare and their recipients.
THAT is not the answer, that would create an even bigger problem, and could be labeled as a hidden Tax.

The bill for business to get a tax break for hiring returning soldiers was written by Senator Scott Brown of Ma. Obama only signed it after it was passed. The Irag war timetable was set up by Bush and the Irag government before Bush left. Obama did carried it out. The national debt is 6 Trillion dollars higher and unemployment has been at over 8% for nearly 3 years, 368,000 people left the work force and gave up looking for work in August. There are far more people collecting off entitlement programs than there were 3 years ago and the healthcare bill is costing business so much more in higher premiums that companys have stopped hiring and expanding.
