Romney turns up intensity on day one of fall sprint

Brian Snyder / Reuters

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney takes questions from reporters Friday at the airport in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

ABOARD THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN PLANE -- After a week of debate prep and minimal campaigning while Democrats soaked up the political spotlight in Charlotte, N.C., Mitt Romney on Friday opened day one of the fall campaign sprint to Nov. 6 by launching himself out of the starting blocks like Usain Bolt at the Olympics.

Aided by access to an ever-growing pot of general election money, the former Massachusetts governor's campaign announced Friday it was taking to the airwaves with no fewer than 15 new television ads in eight swing states.

When the tepid August jobs report numbers were announced at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Romney aides told reporters he'd make himself available for a morning press conference, a rarity for the traveling press following either candidate this cycle. That session with reporters would ultimately be crammed in on the tarmac in Sioux City, Iowa, between Romney's one-on-one interview with Fox News' Brett Baier and the first of two large swing-state rallies of the day.

At his rally in Orange City, in a deeply conservative corner of Iowa carried easily by Rick Santorum in January's caucuses, Romney hammered the president for an "extraordinarily disappointing" convention speech, and tried to offer his own hopeful take on the nation's future.

"I know there’s a lot of bad news out there, but I’m looking beyond the bad news," Romney said. "I’m looking over the hill and seeing what’s going to happen just down the road just a bit. And what’s going to happen is America’s about to come roaring back. I’m absolutely convinced."

Friday evening, Romney was scheduled to host another rally in New Hampshire in a baseball stadium, inviting direct comparison with President Barack Obama, who also held a rally in the Granite State Friday morning.

The full court press continues this weekend, when Romney will attend a rally in Virginia and take in a NASCAR race. On Sunday, Romney will appear in an exclusive interview on NBC's “Meet the Press,” his first appearance on the most-watched Sunday public affairs show since announcing his second run for president. Viewers who change the channel to ABC or CBS will find interviews with Rep. Paul Ryan, Romney's running mate, who Friday held his own rally in Sparks, Nev.

With 60 days to go, it’s a marathon, and a sprint.

Hey, Mitt, where are your tax returns????

If no tax returns, how can we trust you with the country...if you have worked hard to undermine it.

If you have paid little to no taxes, it means you don't believe in government, then why are you running for president.

The hypocrisy

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's acceptance speech on Thursday night drew the largest television audience of this year's political conventions and ranked as the biggest political moment ever on social media site Twitter.

More than 35.7 million people tuned in on three broadcast and 10 cable networks to watch Obama accept the Democrats' nomination for president, according to Nielsen ratings data.....

For Republican challenger Mitt Romney's speech last week, 30.3 million people watched on television.

On social media, the number of tweets about the Democratic convention blew away similar figures from the Republican National Convention a week earlier.

The president's speech prompted 52,756 tweets per minute just after it ended, a new record according to Twitter......

The peak tweets per minute, following some of Obama's most memorable lines, exceeded all other moments for any speaker during either the Democratic or Republican conventions.

The biggest reactions came when Obama declared, "I'm no longer just the candidate. I'm the president," followed by a promise that "I will never turn Medicare into a voucher."

The Democratic convention's final day, on which Obama spoke, generated 4 million tweets, about equal to the total number of tweets for the entire Republican National Convention.

Obama gained on the Twitter Political Index, which measures how tweeters feel about a candidate on a scale of 1 to 100. The president's ranking stood at 52 on Friday, up 2 points from a day earlier. Romney's ranking stood at 9 on Friday...

From Bloomberg Business:

  • U.S. Jobless Rate Drops for the Worst of All Reasons

By on September 07, 2012

The U.S. economy added just 96,000 jobs in August, falling short of expectations and showing that with a presidential election just two months away, the nation still has a long ways to go to heal from the deep 2007-09 recession. The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent, but that was only because 368,000 people left the labor force. The share of working-age people who are either working or looking for work—known as the labor-force participation rate—fell to its lowest level since September 1981.

  • According to Forbes Magazine...
    • General Motors Is Headed For Bankruptcy -- Again

President Obama is proud of his bailout of General Motors. That’s good, because, if he wins
a second term, he is probably going to have to bail GM out again. The company is once again losing market
share, and it seems unable to develop products that are truly competitive in the U.S. market.

Right now, the federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It
would need to get about $53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday. This left the government holding $10.1 billion worth of stock, and sitting on an unrealized loss of $16.4 billion.

Right now, the government’s GM stock is worth about 39% less than it was on November 17, 2010, when the company went public at $33.00/share. However, during the intervening time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by almost 20%, so GM shares have lost 49% of their value relative to the Dow.

It’s doubtful that the Obama administration would attempt to sell off the government’s massive position in GM while the stock price is falling. It would be too embarrassing politically. Accordingly, if GM shares
continue to decline, it is likely that Obama would ride the stock down to zero.

GM is unlikely to hit the wall before the election, but, given current trends, the company could easily do so again before the end of a second Obama term.

In the 1960s, GM averaged a 48.3% share of the U.S. car and truck market. For the first 7 months of 2012, their market share was 18.0%, down from 20.0% for the same period in 2011. With a loss of market share comes a loss of relative cost-competitiveness. There is only so much market share that GM can lose before it would no longer have the resources to attempt to recover.

    RE Post 1.9

Yeah Forbes is on the reality of GM. The Record Profit last quarter was partly from the European Opel division far exceeding expectations, GM drastically cutting back on R & D, and GM delaying upgrading production facilities.

Translation, GM sees a problem coming in the near future and are bracing for it!

I will say that sales did increase 10% in the US, but that is bringing up the rear of the other Automakers.

    HuffingtonPost:

Campaign officials decided earlier in the week to move indoors because of the chance of rain. Heavy rain did fall for a while in the afternoon, just about the time thousands of people would have started lining up to get into the 74,000-seat stadium.

Looked like a full house last night, inside and outside. TV ratings were good. Terrific bounce for the president.

Minus 1 for Romney though. Minus 1. Interest in him not so good. People don't like to see people get rich off the backs of the American workers by closing down plants, which is what Romney did.

    Old Fat Guy,

As for liar, no different than a democrat putting the best face on their opinion. There has been no embellishments on his resume.

The journalist who accused Romney of being a probable fellon was barbecued by a number of left wing new media. There is no basis to call him a felon.

    http://news.yahoo.com/sec-filings-not-clear-proof-romney-ceo-role-064959500.html

The applications to the SEC were perfectly okay. Romney was listed as a major investor, not the one applying for the loan. He was on a leave of absence. When on a leave of absence, you do not lose you position, you just are not active. http://news.yahoo.com/sec-filings-not-clear-proof-romney-ceo-role-064959500.html

Tax Cheat - on what basis do you accuse him of this?

Because he pays only 13.8% - that is a normal amount for someone with his wealth level because he is paying people to put money in places that keep him in either tax free municipal bonds, or long term stock sales and realized capital gains that are taxed at 15%. He is taking no salary from anybody, he is living off his investments as all people should be able to do if they don't listen to democrats!

Or because of the Swiss and Cayaman Island's investments?

Instead of paying taxes to the US, he is paying any taxes to those countries. They are not as high as here, and if he brings that money into the US, he will lose over half of it to Federal, state and local taxes here. There is no legitimate investment places that will advise a client they want to keep to have their money taxed an additional time.

Apple computer is up to 72 billion of overseas profits that will never come to the US for the same reason. Estimates are that there is between 1 & 2 TRILLION trapped in off shore accounts. This is the penalty we are paying as a country for having predatory tax laws.

    Last Charge

Retro active retirement is done quite often. It is only done when the person had no role played in decisions during the leave of absence.

You are doing major calisthenics to hate this guy and I'll bet you will paste your tripe on multiple thread. Yes, I kind of have been on often enough lately to notice.

Mitt Romney on Friday opened day one of the fall campaign sprint to Nov. 6 by launching himself out of the starting blocks like Usain Bolt at the Olympics.

Mitt's advisor's finally found a way to get him back on the campaign trail. They got him all fired up by telling him that they had found a floundering company with a fat pension plan to raid. Imagine how disappointed Mittie must have been when they told him he was going to have to mingle and converse with the little people instead of stealing their jobs and pensions.

Sailcat, they're monsters. They know our history with this sort of thing, yet they continue to push for it.

    John Dean, today:

Frankly, I find this voter suppression disgusting. Southern conservatives, who now control the GOP, have succeeded in destroying the party of Abraham Lincoln, with its once long and proud tradition of seeking to extend the voting franchise, not restrict it.

The effort started in the last few years (2006 to 2008) of the Bush II Department of Justice, when Bush’s political appointees tried to force U.S. Attorneys throughout the country, but particularly in the South, to prosecute voter-fraud cases. However, the Administration had a fundamental problem: There was no evidence of voter fraud. But this did not end the effort. After Republicans won control of twenty-one states (occupying both the legislature and the governor’s office) in 2010, they began—in the name of preventing nonexistent voter fraud—enacting legislation to restrict voting.

Hello folks, I would like to preface my comment by saying I'm a political atheist. I don't care what political religion one wants to attach themselves to. In my estimation we have a one headed two party system serving their masters, Wall Street and the Federal Reserve/banksters.

I see, hear and read people blaming one political party or the other and if they are honest about the problem and want to see who allows this political reality show to perpetuate, all they have to do is look into the mirror. The elite have us exactly where they want us, at each others throats while they rob us blind. Rob us of our civil rights, wealth and our planetary resources.

Do you ever stop for a moment, contemplate and review what is actually causing our stress and problems as a society? Only if we come together as "We the People" do we have a chance to change the direction of our country and planet, but first we need to know what we are up against.

We allow a foreign entity (Federal Reserve, neither federal nor a reserve, a group of mostly European banksters) to control our currency! This system is why you, I, economies and nations are debt slaves! The Fed and their subsidiaries can print money, but how can they create wealth by letting bankers use it for speculation (derivatives market), greater consolidation, and big bonuses.

We let Wall Street run our government! Wall Street is Washington and Washington is Wall Street! We have a two headed one party system serving their masters Wall Street and the Federal Reserve!

Our presidential politicians in both parties are going to spend approximately 1 billion dollars each on their campaigns this year, yet we are laying off fire fighters, teachers and policemen. Two billion dollars on presidential campaigns, is that insane or what? Then, we allow the Super Pac’s with little regulation and full anonymity to influence our American elections through the sheer volume of money that will most likely be used for negative advertising to elect a corporate candidate or pass a corporate sponsored bill!

Our congress is bought and paid for by lobbyists and are involved with insider trading, doing the bidding for those who put the most money in their pockets! They get rich while we the “freeloaders” get cuts to Medicare and Social Security all the while they receive a tax payer salary and health benefits for life for themselves and their family compliments of the “freeloaders”.

We've legalized Corporations (Citizen's United) as people! They can now buy any election they want to, from sheriff to president! They don't even have to be American corporations! Corporations have severed their moral contract with America. It used to be you worked hard and helped them gain success and you shared in their success through better wages and benefits, all you get now is a pink slip.

The corporate use of offshore tax havens have kept trillions of dollars out of the American economic system which further decimates the American economy.

The BP Corporation will likely not be charged with any criminal malfeasance in the largest natural disaster in history. The oil leak continues to flow and there are reports Corexit is still being used without any oversight by the U.S.. Many scientists claim the gulf loop current has been broken as a result of the leak. If you want evidence of the leak just talk to the residents and oil spill workers living along the gulf from Texas to Florida.

The oil company lobbyists who have paid off our congressional leader to allow "Fracking" this method of injecting poison into our underground drinking water aquifer is an obvious serious health hazard to all Americans.

We invade a different country every year! Killing and displacing millions of people and spending trillions of dollars to enrich the Oil, Banking, and Corporate cartels!

The Census Department of the American Federal Government recently reported that “50% of the nation’s population were living below the poverty line”.
50 million people can't go to a doctor because they don't have health care!
47 million people need food stamps just to feed themselves!
25 million people are unemployed or underemployed!
15 million people's mortgages are worth more than their homes!

Our national debt is 16 trillion dollars! We pay off our debt with more debt! That is like putting gas on the fire! There is a term for that its called bankrupt. They tell the U.S. citizens it is their fault because they don't live within their means! They fail to mention it has everything to do with corrupt business and political leaders and the Federal Reserve and their fractional reserve banking system!

The worlds GDP is 65 trillion and the casino derivatives market is estimated at 1.4 quadrillion. Our 5 largest banks own 97% of the world’s derivatives. Greece, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Portugal have defaulted and the Federal Reserve keeps concocting schemes to bail out the worlds economies. it is only a matter of time the U.S. citizens will realize our banks are just as insolvent as the Globe's banks are intertwined. But that’s ok, we’ll bail them out again (QE1, QE2, Op Twist 1, Op Twist 2 and implicitly LTRO 1 and LTRO 2) You know their motto, privatize profits and socialize losses! QE3 has already started with the currency swaps and the Bernank has hinted at cranking up the printing presses into overdrive. Let's see what happens next week!

Why aren't Jamie Dimon and John Corzine in prison? The corrupt international banking elite with tacit approval from Democrats and Republicans has given the world 1.4 Quadrillion in derivatives fraud, the HSBC drug laundering fraud, the MF Global fraud, the PFG fraud, the high frequency trading pilfering and stock market fraud, the manipulation of the precious metals and bond market fraud, the MERS mortgage fraud, nearly countless individual frauds from both Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, and the international 800 trillion LIBOR interest rate fixing banking fraud, just to name but a few recent FRAUDS and breaches of Bankster credibility and trustworthiness.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac the flagships of our housing bubble that has burst! The housing market used to be what was fueling the middle class as manufacturing was being outsourced to foreign countries, it got over leveraged like our banks and stock markets and there is no resolution in site! The mortgage settlement just signed is just another small fine and in reality a bailout for the banks for what they are truly liable for.

They tell us social safety nets, Medicare and Social Security that you and I paid into is Socialism when the largest recipients of social welfare in the history of the world are our “Capitalist, Free Market” banking and financial institutions! Remember the bailouts? We keep bailing out the banks to the tune of tens of trillions and we're told it's because they are too big to fail and all the while we allow them to get bigger! We are witnessing the biggest bank robbery in history and the banks and financial institutions are doing the robbing!

Our media (presstitutes) are bought and paid for by corporations and treat us like mushrooms! Reuters and the Associated Press try to tell us what to believe and think, such as unemployment is at 8.3% and falling, freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength, war is peace, they hate us for our freedom, the terrorists are out to get you, the economy is great, borrow and spend! etc…

Our constitution, our most sacred document as a country is meaningless!

We have lost most of our civil liberties through the passage of the Patriot Act and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the new National Defense Resources Preparedness (NDRP)! They have authorized the use of spy drones in American skies! You can be surveilled by any number of Federal agencies, have your phone and computer tapped, bank, medical, and private records accessed! You can be arrested without gaining access to an attorney or a trial. We are molested at the airports or radiated for “security”. And just recently added National Defense Resources Preparedness (NDRP) which comes on the heels of NDAA. This Executive Order allows the government to take pretty much whatever it wants including crops, farm equipment, vehicles, boats, aircraft and fuel to “prepare” for the national defense. This includes making people work for free. You think I’m kidding about the free labor? Here’s a line straight from the EO that says, “. . . to employ persons of outstanding experience and ability without compensation. . .” This is authorized even in peace time!
NYPD’s aggressive street policing program, called “stop-and-frisk,” which predominantly targets low-income minority neighborhoods. In 2011, the program stopped and searched more than 500,000 New Yorkers, 85 percent of them black or Latino. This program is moving to a city near you!

We have created another cartel the “Prison Industrial Complex”! We have outsourced our incarceration of United States citizens which consists of over 6 million prisoners! This exceeds the number of prisoners held in the gulags of the former Soviet Union at any point in history! All objectivity of prison reform has flown out the window in exchange for profits! No prisoners no profits! In some state contracts the conditions of privatization require that states guarantee prisons remain at 90% occupancy! Are there prison lobbyists? You bet and loaded with cash compliments of you and me!

The Military Industrial Complex is King, our defense budget is larger than the rest of the world’s combined! We are the enforcement arm of all the world’s cartels! The policeman of the world! In our countries short history we have bombed over 60 different countries! The outsourcing of our security to private military companies like XE (formerly Blackwater) is increasing dramatically!

The phony war on drugs! While our military protect the poppy fields in Afghanistan, the Opium supply produced in Afghanistan went from a modest 185 tons at the start of American intervention in 2001, to a robust 8,200 tons of opium, a remarkable 53 percent of the country’s GDP and 93 percent of global heroin supply; Wells Fargo has been caught laundering money for the Mexican drug cartel in the United States (look it up); The use of drugs in the health care industry is over a 100 billion dollar a year scam. There's no profit in the cure only in the treatment. You are not allowed to buy the same manufactured prescription drugs from other countries at a cheaper price because the drug lobby has had congress pass laws against it to protect their profits.

We let the elite divide us so that they can keep us in fear, distracted, and divided to the theft going on right in front of our eyes each and every second of the day! The theft of our civil liberties, money and property!

What is wrong with this picture and what does it say about us that we allow this to take place? We have lost our moral compass and our priorities as a country and need to get them back! It is time we concentrate on fixing America for awhile!

What do Obama's grades when he was 21 have to do with running America?

Where your President gets his money, where he keeps it and how much he pays in taxes have a LOT to do with running America.

If American service members have to show their financial records so they don't get "unduly influenced" by outside forces, why shouldn't the President?

Why should an American foot soldier be held to a higher standard than the Commander in Chief?

    Think about it.

I hear lots of republicans criticizing Obama either with misleading statements or just plain lies usually - the rest of the time it's ridiculous things like his saying 57 states (as if no one else ever has a slip of the tongue). What I NEVER EVER hear, however, is what Romney is going to do.

What is Romney going to do?

Please don't say he's going to turn the country around. Anyone can say that. How? What is his plan?

My guess is, Romney paid all of the taxes he owed!

If you're guessing then it should be obvious you don't know what you're talking about. We are talking about a man who lied about retiring from Bain Capital in 1999 and who failed to report the money he has stashed in foreign accounts in no fewer than seven state and federal financial disclosure forms. He has also stated he thinks blind trusts are a "ruse" and to illustrate that point he has placed his finances in a blind trust managed by his colleagues at Bain Capital.

Why does it matter? Romney has shown he is a liar and a cheat and he is proving he does not want to contribute his fair share to our government and our country. On the other hand, he has definitely showed he wants to rule over them.

President Obama in November! He is clearly our only rational choice!

Here's a fine example of how Dems manage YOUR money....

Democrats ended their convention in Charlotte $5 million short of their budget even after being forced to draw down a $10 million line of credit from Duke Energy Corp. (DUK), according to a Democratic Party fundraiser.

That will leave a $15 million bill that eventually will have to be paid by President Barack Obama’s campaign or the Democratic National Committee, according to the fundraiser, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

Dems can't even run a convention and stay in the black, and they want to run a country? LMAO...FAIL!

LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE TURNING UP THE HEAT ON MITTSTER! YA THINK MITT WILL DO TIME IN THE BIG HOUSE INSTEAD OF THE WHITE HOUSE?

    BAIN BEING INVESTIGATED ON TAXES!

    From Forbes.com 9/1/12

The New York Times is reporting that Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, is among a number of firms being investigated by New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, for failing to pay taxes.

The New York AG's Taxpayer Protection Bureau has issued subpoenas to at least twelve financial firms, including Bain, looking into whether the companies converted management fees (taxed as ordinary income) paid by investors into fund investments which are taxed at a dramatically lower rate.

The controversial tax avoidance scheme came to light last month when Bain Capital internal financial information was published online by Gawker.com , however the investigation had reportedly commenced prior to the publication and is not believed to be tied to the document dump.

    According to the Times

The tax strategy — which is viewed as perfectly legal by some tax experts, aggressive by others and potentially illegal by some — came to light last month when hundreds of pages of Bain's internal financial documents were made available online. The financial statements show that at least $1 billion in accumulated fees that otherwise would have been taxed as ordinary income for Bain executives had been converted into investments producing capital gains, which are subject to a federal tax of 15 percent, versus a top rate of 35 percent for ordinary income. That means the Bain partners saved more than $200 million in federal income taxes and more than $20 million in Medicare taxes.

While Governor Romney has not been active at Bain Capital for quite some time, he does continue to receive profits from the company and held investments in some of the funds that utilized the tax avoidance strategy.

As I've said elsewhere I think the Democrats had a better convention (they always have better entertainment due to the fact most entertainers are liberals) but the trouble is it's not about the convention, it's not about Mitt Romney, it's about the economy and the President's record handling it. My recollection on that isn't near as rosy as those who made the case in my home town for a second term for the President.

I don't know if Mitt Romney can do a better job on the economy than President Obama, but I do know that I have to at least consider giving him a chance based on the current (still) sad state of economic affairs. Obstinate Republicans own a lot of the blame for that, but Congressional Democrats and the President aren't exempt from being held accountable, either !!

Thank you xrayspex, for being reasonable on how you're looking at this. I'm trying to do the same and looking at both right and left leaning media to discover facts. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, depending on how you look at it, about 2/3's of the media is democrat.

I've been following politics for a little over four years now. I'm fourty-eight, and I never voted until the last Presidential Election in 2008, thinking because I wasn't involved, that other registered voters had more knoweledge than I did, and to put my vote out without that knowledge would do this country a disservice. What I've discovered in the last four years, is that people REALLY DO put their trust in "who sounds the best", "who looks the best", "who is most popular", "who has the best soundbite", instead of who is most QUALIFILED to run this country. You know, hope and change can be a good thing, and I almost voted for him. What is sad to me, this Country bases their votes, mostly, on who has the greatest speech, not who can really do something.

Clintons speech for the DNC was a AWESOME SPEECH! HE** Yeah, when he was in office he did a good job, mostly by being able to work in a bi-partisan manner. He didn't start his term facing what Obama did. Different economies. Doesn't matter that he did some lying...or that he cheated on his wife. How naive are we, when he says he didn't have sex outside of marriage just because it was oral sex? The intent was there, the semantics don't count. And here's the kicker....I would actually love to see Hillary be President, if it wasn't for the fact that she let her husband disrespect her marriage, and NOW desrespect her again by supporting Obama. If she had of had a backbone on that one...I would vote for her.

In heart, I'm a business woman, even though I've been a stay-at-home Mom essentially for the last ten years; even after having a fourteen year successful career in business before that, working in the tax field. I have looked at Obama's tax returns, Romney's tax returns, Biden's tax returns and Ryan's tax returns. I went out and did the research. In my opinion, Romney, obviously, is the most successful, but also gives the most to his fellow man in the US, Obama and Ryan are about par for how they contribute back, and Biden just sucks wind as far as financially giving back to the community.

What just flabberghasts me? Is that the American Public....because of envy, greed, or just plain ignorance, doesn't look at all of that, just resents someone who is successful...and bashes them. Here's the quandrum for me, they don't respect Romney for being successful, in fact are resentful of his success, yet in dollar amounts he pays more in taxes that a good portion of us in the United States do, he gives more back in Charity than all the other candidates, percentage wise.

Why wouldn't we want to take advantage of his knowledge and elect him President?

    #1.71 - Sat Sep 8, 2012 1:20 AM EDT

Aralee ... it's not about resentment. Trust me, Huntsman would have been a better candidate for the Republicans. It's about history. No businessman has ever been a good President.

    http://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2012/02/17/sorry-mitt-romney-good-businessmen-rarely-make-good-presidents

Mitt doesn't have "knowledge" as far as creating jobs. If so, he would be doing it now. He's got the money to create a business or two and yet, his choice is to use all that he has to run for the presidency. He answers to the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelson.

A strong GOP contender with a plan would have been welcomed. But we got the lying bombastic Ryan and the weak and unworthy Mitt. And on that note ....

I will vote for Romney because the Democrats blame the country's problems on his success. Democrats want to bring the successful down to the level of everyone else, taking the burden of finding a job and managing their finances themselves. Republicans try to create the conditions that can bring others up to the middle class or better. I am not rich, but I don't blame the rich and successful for my financial situation. If my situation is not what I want, I do the research and the work to get to where I need to be instead of waiting around for a handout.

    • Reverend Wright Bribe Attempt

When sermons of Obama's Chicago pastor, Jeremiah Wright, surfaced during the Iowa primaries of 2008, it threatened to derail the Obama campaign. ABC aired one sermon where Wright screamed, "Goddamn America!" Edward Klein of the New York Post interviewed Wright, who told him Obama's team tried to buy his silence. Wright stated:

Man, the media ate me alive. After the media went ballistic on me, I received an e-mail offering me money not to preach at all until the November presidential election." [The email] was from one of Barack's closest friends. He sent the offer to one of the members of the church, who sent it to me. [The offer was for] One hundred and fifty thousand dollars. [to keep silent]

Barack said he wanted to meet me in secret, in a secure place. And I said, `You're used to coming to my home, you've been here countless times, so what's wrong with coming to my home?' So we met in the living room of the parsonage of Trinity United Church of Christ, at South Pleasant Avenue right off 95th Street, just Barack and me. I don't know if he had a wire on him. His security was outside somewhere.

And one of the first things Barack said was, 'I really wish you wouldn't do any more public speaking until after the November election.' He knew I had some speaking engagements lined up, and he said, 'I wish you wouldn't speak. It's gonna hurt the campaign if you do that.'

I said, 'I don't see it that way. And anyway, how am I supposed to support my family?' And he said, 'Well, I wish you wouldn't speak in public. The press is gonna eat you alive.'

Barack said, `I'm sorry you don't see it the way I do. Do you know what your problem is?' And I said, `No, what's my problem?' And he said, `You have to tell the truth.' I said, `That's a good problem to have. That's a good problem for all preachers to have. That's why I could never be a politician.'

And he said, 'It's going to get worse if you go out there and speak. It's really going to get worse.' And he was so right. -- Edward Klein, New York Post May 12, 2012

I've been in business management almost my whole career and KNOW the difference of what success is from failure, I retired in my late forties, started in a company at the lowest position and ended my career Owning that company, I'm not RICH but happy, I don't judge success by what a person has or acquired but by the quality of life they live, I have nothing to be ashamed of but I can't say the same of ROMNEY, anyone that enjoys firing an employee is sure as hell not going to get my vote, that is life altering for that person that gets fired and find no humor in it. See We all have different standards and I'm not against success but I am a bit choosy on the type of success that I applaud or appall.

Ok, those on the right, I can confidently say that no one on this blog site hates Romney simply because he's either rich or successful. The problem we have with him is simple.

first: He's seriously out of touch with the average American. We know and understand you made your millions off the backs of the "average" worker AND we understand that it was all business decisions BUT you don't have to tout it in every other sentence and political stump you make.

Second: He refuses to take a permanent position on any subject. He always caters to the crowd he talks to. Think about it, he was a moderate when he was Governor of MA, THEN he went conservative during the Republican debates, NOW he's trying to be a moderate conservative. It's gotten so bad that even his own base is confused and doesn't trust him.

Third: If he has a plan, we seriously don't think he knows what it is. Remember he said that I do have a plan but didn't bring it with me and can't remember it. Remember the blackboard incident when he was trying to explain his medicare plan? THEN after his meeting with the "Big Oil" executives, he immediately had an "energy plan" etch'd out on a piece of paper which leaves to question, Whose plan is it, yours or Big oil???? He also said that his economic plan is to slash taxes for the rich...excuse me....."job creators" BUT he benefits from it. When was the last time he created a job???? He also wants to ease the regulations on Wall St. Why??? It's because of these regulations that Wall St is flourishing. Why mess with something that's working? If they are successful in repealing AHCA(aka Obamacare), you will see seniors AGAIN going back to deciding whether they should by their medicines or food with their reduced Social Security check since Medicare cost will skyrocket again.

Fourth: Forget the tax returns, we are really worried that if he IS elected, he will become exactly what Grover Norquist wants, an empty suit that will just sign every piece of legislation that fits his and all the other rich and powerful's agenda.

I for one would love to see that happen, then watch those SAME supporters on this site turn red with anger when they lose their good job to someone in India or China. Then watch as the debt balloons as well as unemployment rises and people's IRA's and 401K's tank again. Meanwhile, the Koch brothers and every other billionaire that gave money in support of Romney enjoy little or no taxes while the rest of Americans INCLUDING those that blindly trusted Romney to "take America back" suffer. Then you know what their excuse will be.....wait for it...........IT'S ALL OBAMA'S FAULT!!!

So will those on the right say the same thing that Obama's not President anymore and stop blaming the last guy.......DOUBT IT....

This is of course my opinion and a worse case scenario that I hope and pray doesn't come to past.

Very few people in Washington DC realize that they work for us, the people. Mitt would be about the farthest from that notion as one could get. He would be "the boss". He would tell us what we need and when... he's already acting that way.

He takes a lie and repeats it often enough to get the Obama haters to latch on... I won't call them followers because it's pretty hard to follow nothing. It's like he's got some special knowledge in an alternate universe or something.

Listen people... go ahead and grade Obama's performance. But realize that with the unbelievable mess we were all handed, you need to at least "grade of a curve"... meaning that you grade him based on what was even possible to do in the environment he was given. Yes, it's more difficult to sort out, but it's the only way to do it. You can bet that if Romney is elected, he'll be grading himself on his own curve based on lies.

I don't care about Mitt Romney's tax returns.....all I want to do is ask him one queston....Gov. Romney, did you,or did you not take advanatge of The I.R.S. amnesty program for foreign bank accounts in 2008-'09?

He can spout all he wants about paying all taxes as "legally" required, and it would probablly be a true statement, but if he accessed this program, it shows he WAS trying to hide money from the government and cheat on his taxes, just was offered the oppurtunity to come clean and did.

He's still under indictment in Italy for cheating on taxes, why wouldn't he try here?

I'm going to keep telling this story until President Obama wins re-election.

WHAT BAIN CAPITAL DID TO KAY BEE TOYS:

Bain engineered a private equity purchase of a profitable company that had already gone through 'creative destruction' eliminating unprofitable legacy operations and saddled the company with hundreds of millions of dollars of debt. The company was not just profitable but an example of the kind of companies that demonstrate a wider social conscious for its customers and the larger community. Sixteen months after purchasing the company with only 6% cash of the value Bain takes out dividends at over 400% of their investment. Significantly this was done during the time of the attacks on 9/11 when the country as a whole was undergoing a hightened sense of patriotism, sacrifice and social duty. Less than 2 years after saddling KB Toys with massive debt and taking out astronomical dividends, K-B Toys faces Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closes 354 previously profitable stores.

Vultures take meat that is already dead and complete the final loop in the cycle of life.

Bain took a company that had already been restructured and was surging in profits and cash. There was never any interest by Bain to restructure KB Toys, that had already been done.

Bain purchased KB Toys simply to raid its cash, and they did so during a time when the rest of the country was undergoing a period of reviewing the founding principles of the country.

To call what Bain did to KB Toys as 'Vulture' Capitalism is an insult to Vultures.

They were pirates and this is why there is so much interest to change the subject and not let the real facts of Bain Capital come to the surface during the Republican Primary.

"Instead of paying taxes to the US, he is paying any taxes to those countries.

This is the penalty we are paying as a country for having predatory tax laws."

I call B.S. on the 50% part. What state or local income tax? There are many states without those taxes. You mean to tell me they would not take advantage of those tax breaks too...lol?

"Predatory tax laws" LOL now that is a good one. 8% is predatory huh? It is one of if not thee lowest rate in the world atm. I guess Apple is hurting for money huh? Would it break them to actually PAY the tax on that profit? No it would not. Would it help the U.S., which not only allowed Apple to be created, but the founders (humans) too? The U.S. and its taxpayers also protects Apple from foreign attack and provides rules and regulations with which Apple uses to make a profit. This is how out of touch with reality and greedy many people are atm. Without the government you could not have your company. Another country would come and take you stuff or you would have to pay taxes there.

Look at all the money out there, yet the people with it all are STILL FING crying. HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED CRACKHEADS? You have a money addiction problem, call it a medical problem I do not care, but it will be the death of you if you do not do something about it or at least wake up. When you are willing to wreak a country, do not care about your workers, do not care about your fellow citizens or humans, do not care about anything, but yourself/profits, and you are a "leader" there is a problem.

You cannot make unlimited amounts of money. It has to come from somewhere and if we print more it devalues what you have already. People WILL NOT be your slaves/serfs. We can only take so much before we snap, it is only natural.

WHAT THE F*** IS EVERYONE ON THIS PLANET WORKING SO HARD FOR ANY WAY? What is the FING rush? We have to beat other humans to that prove our way is right? What are we doing? Why does money even matter since it is artificial, man made, and not "real"? How many hours of labor does it take to have enough food, water, house, medical, etc.? How many hours of labor do we waste on NOTHING? Things like clothes for fashion, jewelry, makeup, bling, etc.? How much are we polluting the planet for nothing? Why do we not take care of our children better?

GREED plain and simple there is no other explanation. Taxes are the only way to limit greed, but many rich people are not smart enough to understand that or their addiction is blinding their logic. Some are smart enough however.

My comment above should tell you exactly what I think of Mitt Romney's "knowledge", "charity" and "success".

Using the standard of making money as a measure of success, drug kingpins are highly successful individuals. They run empires, yet would we hire one to be president?

Romney's "charity" is nothing more than his required tithe to the Mormon Church. I'm not a Mormon, so his "charity" hasn't benefited me one iota. I'd have preferred some compassion from him for the 15,000 employees of Kay Bee Toys who lost their jobs, thanks to Romney's greed.

I do not resent Romney for his so-called success. He can keep his millions, his Swiss bank accounts, his car elevator, his dancing horse.

But he needs to keep his god-damned hands off my country.

What has happened in our country since Obama took office is not by happenstance, not caused by Republicans...it is ALL BY DESIGN by Obama. Massive debt is a weapon of mass destruction, and that is the one Obama is using to diminish America's power in the world. His ENTIRE Presidencey has been one BIG CON JOB. Obama has put us in debt and with a deficit that is LARGER than ALL PRESIDENTS from Washington on up. Twice as much in FOUR YEARS term than Bush accumulated in EIGHT years. Wake up people. Our economy was fragile before, but we are literally teetering now and in another four years under Obama we WILL crash and burn..........mission accomplished,as planned.

Last night I went to the movie and saw 2016 Obama. So much was explained as to where Obama wants America to be. Everyone needs to see this and throw him and his "team" out of office. America is the 1% because as it was explained in the movie our poorest citizens are richer than most of the worlds poor. This is true because most countries don't have safety nets for their poor and these people live in horrible poverty. They are the 99%. We are getting some jobs growth but they are in the service like waiters, maids, bartenders. He and his team are making sure we don't drill here in America or off our shores because those are good paying jobs and would help lift us back up. Instead he gives money to small countries to help them drill for oil and gas so they can sell it back to us at huge prices. This helps their countries but doesn't help us. Yet it is our tax dollars and our borrowing power with the world that if funding this. Why does he do this because this was a Dream of His Father that the big countries would fall into proverty. He didn't realize that with help from big countries their country could grow. Obama wants us to lose our riches and power in the world and to let other countries band together and be world powers. When he cuts our military down he weakens us so that other countries can take us over. Mexico is working now to take us over. We are almost to the tipping point for debt to China and others. America is the 1% and the rest of the world is the 99% not America's poor but the worlds poor. He thinks to spread the wealth global.

That "bounce" you seem to eager to claim? Well, it's on just one poll-the one the DoJ is suing because an Obama campaign worker who was fired claimed they overcharged for their work; the one that changed their methodology in response to Axelrod's criticism of their numbers- is in response to Clinton's speech.

Bill Clinton, I might add, is not on the ballot.

Moreover, I'm pretty certain that yesterday's job report will kill any little buzz Obama managed to get.

What else did the DNC convention teach us?

Well, first, that Democrats believe that "the only thing we all belong to is the government". Odd, is it not? How many have bled and died to protect us from that very ideology?

Second, that Democrats wither in the face of Republican criticism- going so far as to change- against the will of their delegates- their party platform to avoid that criticism.

Third, that they cannot manage their own finances- which goes a long way toward explaining the mess they've made of the country's. They cut a day from their Party's party, and still wound up $15 million in the hole. Good luck to the venders getting paid for what they shelled out.

Should make some good ads in the coming weeks.

oldfatguy - I cannot, because he is not facing any such legal charges.

Mitt Romney is a known LIAR, admitted TAX-CHEAT, and a probable FELON,

I'm no fan of Romney, and it is highly unlikely that I will vote for him this coming November. But to call a person a tax cheat and probable felon without any legal evidence is just name calling.

Your words seem eerily similar to charges made 4 years ago that Obama is not a native born American: long on rhetoric and ringing phrases, short on evidence.

Many Americans are naive to what Obama means by re-distribute wealth and what he means by change (none of which he has done in almost 4 years), he means we will all be the same and he would like to see many less wealthy Americans, we all would get the basics supplied by the government and we all would be just getting by while the politicians, their family and friends have all the wealth and power and wealth. If Obama took all the wealth away from all the wealthy in the US tomorrow, not a single one of you will be wealthy unless you go out and earn it yourself, just like you can now. But if government gets too much control, creates too many regulations and higher taxes, getting wealthy or being middle class may get allot tougher. This election may be as important as our revolutionary war, this election is about keeping our freedom from government control and high taxes and keeping out Constitution the way it is. Obama speaks great. gives good speeches. says great thing, but has never done any of them before he was president and hasn't done any since he was President (reminds me of a great Con Man).

These are the 26 Billionaires that are trying to buy the election for their front men, Rack and Ruin.

Sen. Sanders also did the last thing the billionaires wanted. He called them out by name.

According to the report, America for Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election, here are the 26 billionaires who are trying to buy your government:

1). Sheldon Adelson, owner of the Las Vegas Sands Casino, is worth nearly $25 billion, making him the 14th wealthiest person in the world and the 7th richest person in America. While median family income plummeted by nearly 40% from 2007-2010, Mr. Adelson has experienced a nearly eightfold increase in his wealth over the past three years (from $3.4 billion to $24.9 billion). Forbes recently reported that Adelson is willing to spend a “limitless” amount of money or more than $100 million to help defeat President Obama in November.

    2. The Kochs (David, Charles, and William)
are worth a combined $103 billion, according to Forbes. They have pledged to spend about $400 million during the 2012 election season. The Kochs own more wealth than the bottom 41.7 percent of American households or more than 49 million Americans.

    3. Jim Walton is worth $23.7 billion. He has donated $300,000 to super PACs in 2012.

    4. Harold Simmons is worth $9 billion. He has donated $15.2 million to super PACs this year.

    5. Peter Thiel is worth $1.5 billion. He has donated $6.7 million to Super PACs this year.

    6. Jerrold Perenchio is worth $2.3 billion. He has donated $2.6 million to super PACs this year.

    7. Kenneth Griffin is worth $3 billion and he has given $2.08 million to super PACs in 2012.

    8. James Simons
is worth $10.7 billion and he has given $1.5 million to super Pacs this year.

    9. Julian Robertson is worth $2.5 billion and he has given $1.25 million to super PACs this year.

    10. Robert Rowling is worth $4.8 billion and he has given $1.1 million to super PACs.

    11. John Paulson, the hedge fund manager who made his fortune betting that the sub-prime mortgage market would collapse, is worth $12.5 billion. He has donated $1 million to super PACs.

    12. Richard and J.W. Marriott
are worth a combined $3.1 billion and they have donated $2 million to super PACs this year.

    13. James Davis is worth $1.9 billion and he has given $1 million to super PACs this year.

    14. Harold Hamm
is worth $11 billion and he has given $985,000 to super PACs this year.

    15. Kenny Trout
is worth more than $1.2 billion and he has given $900,000 to super PACs this year.

    16. Louis Bacon is worth $1.4 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

    17. Bruce Kovner is worth $4.5 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

    18. Warren Stephens is worth $2.7 billion and he has given $500,000 to super PACs this year.

is worth $3.5 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

    23. Kelcy Warren
is worth $2.3 billion and he has given $250,000 to super PACs this year.

Nothing?? Really? In 2010 when the masses delivered Oblamo's shellacking the republicans did what the masses wanted. They shut down this reckless fraud that wants to do nothing but to spend more and more money this nation doesn't have.

And yet when President Obama sat down with Boehner, Cantor, and McConnell to try and solve the debt issue with a plan to save $4Trillion, the GOP refused to compromise over raising taxes on the wealthiest 1% and we all got screwed.

Apparently Shady G is a multi-millionaire who needs the GOP to protect his best interests.

clwyd...I'd like the chance to talk to with you four years from now if Obama is re elected. You and many others will have egg on your faces...IF you can afford the egg. Just so ya know, you were warned.

You and other DON'T think that the Dems. have billionaire supported super PACS? Wow, are you people naiev.

So Bush is responsible for 1/3 of our debt incurred during his 8 year term. That STILL leaves 2/3 incurred by Obama in only 4 years. Bush is NOT in office NOW. Hasn't been for 4 years. Time to put the onus NOW on who is calling the shots and holding the credit card NOW. Bush is hiding out in Texas? Gosh, who would think to look THERE? I wonder where Obama will hide when the courts want to find him for ordering kill over capture, of an unarmed Osama Bin Laden, and sending drones to straif and kill civilians in Lybia? He'll be safe hiding wherever he's hidden all of his records I'm sure.

You all don't get it that Romney is NOT Bush. "Forward" isn't thats your theme this time around? Yet you all only look BACKWARDS. But it beats looking at the present doesn't it? Present is scary. Future under Obama is even scarier. You really should look into his background and who shaped his ideology. And EXACTLY what that means for America.

No Vinnie.....Shady G is a moron that believes only what others tell him. I would say most people in the 1% are far too busy to be wasting their time posting ignorant comments on this website. His grammar is also a dead giveaway.

I'm a member of the 1% and I can tell you that many of my high net-worth friends are spending lots of $ hoping to get GOP candidates elected this year. I was at one republican fundraising event that generated donations of more than $260k in a single night from less than 60 people. I donate to and am connected within both parties as a matter of strategic positioning, and to be completely honest, for my family's benefit. With that said, there is no way in hell I'll be voting for any republicans this November. I've never voted a straight ticket in my life, but this will be the first year I vote a STRAIGHT Democratic ticket. I'm tired of the lies, the religious extremism used to justify oppressive policies, the short-term focus, and the reckless abandon with which republicans conduct themselves in both official and personal matters. By planting their flag on "Mount Ignorance", they have now backed themselves into a corner. I like the Mitch Daniels and Huntsman's of the Republican party, not the Bachmann's /Ryan's/Romney's that dominate the national spotlight. As someone that benefits from their tax policies, I still can't bring myself to vote for a party that is willing to sacrifice the future of the middle class to help me keep more $ in my pocket. My business and my investments in America depend on a healthy, large, and well educated middle class. The democrats are the only party that cares about these people right now (given the actions and words of the GOP), and I know I was a lot better off after Clinton left office than when Bush did. It's time we vote a filibuster proof democratic majority into the house and the senate, and we let them prove themselves without GOP interference.

GET OUT AND VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!! Obama/Biden 2012!!!

Our economic problems didn't happen overnight. It's been happening over the past 15-20 years, but the economy was kept going by middle class Americans tapping into the equity on their homes until they were completely tapped out.

It shouldn't be all about Democrats or Republicans! It should be about doing the right thing for our country and the majority of its citizens. I consider myself an independent voter, but going back to the Reagan days and with the only exception having been Perot, I’ve always voted Republican. But all this single-minded, left versus right, ideological one dimensional bull has got to go! This is the problem with our country. It shouldn't be about Democrats or Republicans! It should be about Americans, especially our elected officials, doing the right thing for our country and its citizens.

Both parties have sold out the bulk of the American citizens, who they're supposed to represent, by allowing the "out-sourcing" floodgates to open wider and wider without taking any sensible measures to stem the tide. (Under Clinton jobs to China, Under Bush I & II influx of illegals or cheap easily abused labor into the US and jobs to Mexico/NAFTA) Our leaders are elected by the Citizens of the United States of America to represent the interests of those citizens and the country itself. They are NOT elected by the Global Market Place or foreign citizens!

We need whoever wins the next election to Start Protecting American Jobs and do whatever it takes to bring back the jobs they let go. They've got to give us somebody who will stand up for the American people.

We need to bring manufacturing back to the United States of America and both parties are ignoring tariffs as a way to level the playing field, raise money and bring jobs back home. Let's guess why. Oh that's right, tariff is a dirty word. Hum, maybe it’s that our so called leaders (political leaders) are beholden to the same people who are exporting our jobs.

I guess we should keep letting Corp Boards, Wall Street, CEOs and Foreign Lobbyists promote sending US jobs to countries where they work for slave wages, no benefits, no OSHA safety standards or no real environment regulations. How's that been working for us?

The so called “Global Market Place” is not a level playing field. Companies may have made higher profits by "out sourcing", but they've been putting middle class Americans who are a good part of the world’s customer base out of work. I’m not a lefty or member of any union. I run a business that employs over 20 people and produces products that are purchased by customers that do manufacturing and packaging. I’m just an average Joe, but I've been saying this for more than 10 years now. If I can see it, so can our so called leaders (political leaders) who are beholden to the same people who are exporting our jobs.

We need to add tariffs that are proportionate to the inequities in wages and regulations in the country where the goods were produced and or where we’re importing them from. We could then use the money raised by these tariffs to help companies build state of the art manufacturing plants here in the USA, which would create more jobs here at home for US citizens, which would then in turn increase our income tax revenue.

The people with all of the excuses as to why we can’t or aren’t willing to manufacture products here in the US are the same people who have provided us with the thinking that’s gotten us into this mess in the first place.

Over the past 15-20 years, I've seen too many of our customer's close manufacturing plants here in the USA and move those plants to different countries, decimating entire areas here in OUR COUNTRY. And I'm not alone. Returning jobs to American Citizens will provide income tax revenue to OUR Government versus our government having to pay unemployment benefits to those who would be jobless instead.

Bringing manufacturing back to the US not only gives jobs to the US citizens who would be working in those manufacturing facilities, but to the people that would be working in the businesses that would spring up all around them. This should also include the safe harvesting, production and distribution of our own natural energy here in the USA, rather than paying for fuel from countries where they hate us. Let’s keep that money and those jobs here in the US.

These so-called “free trade agreements” have to go. It was obvious when they were passing these agreements as to what was going to happen and sure enough it did. Our leaders had to have known this as well when they were passing these bills. It’s just common sense. We also need to bring customer support services back to the United States of America and staff them with employees who are US Citizens.

The “Global Market Place” is not a level playing field! The whole idea of the tariffs is so we can pay our factory workers a decent wage and not be blown out by these other countries where they don’t play by the same rules.

We may have to pay a bit more for products made here in the USA by US citizens, but at least we'll still have jobs and a future for our children.

The bottom line is that “Our Government” has to protect American industry and the jobs that those industries provide. If they do that, the rest will take care of itself.

ROMNEY TURNS UP THE INTENSITY .....TO FAIL!

President Obama looks at each person as an individual with many diverse lifestyles, jobs, incomes, religions, political views and takes them into consideration in every decision he makes.

Romney looks at people as a statistic, a number in the loss and profit column. During one of his speeches instead of saying country, Romney said company....Romney is too far removed from people, certainly too far removed from COSTCO type people to even try and act like one for a day. He is too imbedded in being a corporation to understand what an American is.

...............The Great Recession is Made in America, but -

    1. Europe has been hurt by the recession, and won't be able to buy more US imports.
    2. Japan has been hurt too after it started to recover from its 'lost decades' and then went immediately under....with further problem from nuclear disaster
    3. The above 2 used to buy a lot of American goods, but haven't been able to do so due to the recession Made in America.
    4. US is hurt by self-destruction - GOP and Mitch McConnell wanted to destroy Pres. O if that means to also destroy US economy.

Then how can anyone to create more jobs .....definitely not Mitt the Vulture who loves to make obscene profits by outsourcing American jobs overseas...further worsening america.

I'm tired of watching the federal government waste money on unnecessary crap like when Pelosi, as Speaker of the House, rang up over $2 million in air travel expenses or when Obama and his wife couldn't coordinate schedules so he flew from Washington to Camp David in the morning and then sent Air Force One back to Washington to pick up his wife and bring her to Camp David that afternoon! It cost $181,757 per hour to operate Air Force One!

    (1) Bill Clinton caused the economic collapse

    (2) George W Bush was in office for 8 years and could not fix the mess that Bill Clinton (allegedly) created, BUT;

    (3) Obama doesn't deserve to be president, because HE did not fix it in 3 years

So, is this reasoning supposed to make sense?

Rt wingers come on to the blog and whine about things not going good enough while they hide the facts they are trying to sabotage the economy and anything good to make Obama a one term president!

TomWood-5404531 posted the same story the other day, see below.

On January 20, 2009 Republican Leaders in Congress literally plotted to sabotage and undermine U.S. Economy during President Obama's Inauguration. In Robert Draper's book, "Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives" Draper wrote that during a four hour, "invitation only" meeting with GOP Hate-Propaganda Minister, Frank Luntz, the below listed Senior GOP Law Writers literally plotted to sabotage, undermine and destroy America's Economy.

Frank Luntz - GOP Minister of Propaganda
    Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)
    Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA)
    Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA),
    Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX),
    Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX),
    Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI)
    Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA),
    Sen. Jim DeMint (SC-R),
    Sen. Jon Kyl (AZ-R),
    Sen. Tom Coburn (OK-R),
    Sen. John Ensign (NV-R) and
    Sen. Bob Corker (TN-R).Non-lawmakers present
    Newt Gingrich

During the four hour meeting: The senior GOP members plotted to bring Congress to a standstill regardless how much it would hurt the American Economy by pledging to obstruct and block President Obama on all legislation.

Repubs have no answer when they are confronted with facts of how they are caught obstructing the recovery of America. Proof they hate America!

WHY DID REPUBS BLOCK REMOVING TAX BREAKS FROM COMPANIES LIKE BAIN< WHO TAKE AMERICAN JOBS OFFSHORE?

On 7-19-12, repubs blocked the bill that would remove tax breaks for companies that take American jobs overseas. These corporations take the profits then and hide them in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes to the U.S.

.......WHY DID REPUBS BLOCK THE BILL TO GIVE TAX BREAKS TO COMPANIES THAT WOULD BRING THE JOBS BACK TO AMERICA?

On 7-19-12, repubs blocked the bil to give tax breaks to companies that would bring back jobs to America.

WHY DO REPUBS HATE AMERICAN WORKERS? Because they love profit and greed and pledged to vote against any bill that would make President Obama look good. Repubs including Paul Ryan, pledged the night Obama took office to vote against America just to make Obama a one term president!

....Killing good paying American jobs is good for the economy?......unemployment, cost of retraining, taking a lower paying job, losing your savings, your home, your family, everything you worked for...to buy cheaper goods that you now cannot afford? HORSE HOCKEY! All the profits go to the greedy rich.

EVEN VETERAN REPUBS ARE ANGRY AT THE RT WINGER REPUBS OF NO COMPROMISE PLAN! WHEN YOUR OWN PARTY SLAMS YOU.....HOW BAD IS THAT?

Alan Simpson Republican, had this to say about his own party on 5/27/2012 Huff Post.

Former Sen. Alan Simpson (R-Wyo.) lashed out at members of his party on Sunday, slamming them for their unwillingness to compromise on proposed tax increases.

In his characteristically colorful style, Simpson told CNN's Fareed Zakaria that Republicans' rigid opposition to new tax revenues has hampered productivity and diminished the chances of reaching an agreement with Democrats on debt reduction.

"You can’t cut spending your way out of this hole," Simpson, who was appointed as co-chair of President Obama's Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform in 2010, said. "You can’t grow your way out of this hole, and you can’t tax your way out of this hole. So put that in your pipe and smoke it, we tell these people. This is madness."

Simpson continued: "If you want to be a purist, go somewhere on a mountaintop and praise the east or something. But if you want to be in politics, you learn to compromise. And you learn to compromise on the issue without compromising yourself. Show me a guy who won’t compromise and I’ll show you a guy with rock for brains."

    • Judicial Watch Uncovers New Documents Detailing Pelosi’s Use of Air Force Aircraft

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained new documents from the United States Air Force detailing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s repeated use of United States Air Force aircraft. According to the documents, obtained by Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Pelosi used Air Force aircraft on 85 flights from March 2009 through June 2010. Members of Pelosi’s family were guests on at least two flights.

Among the highlights from the documents, obtained pursuant to a FOIA request filed on January 25, 2009:

    • Pelosi used the Air Force aircraft for a total of 85 trips, covering 206,264 miles, from March 2, 2009 through June 7, 2010. Pelosi, her guests and Air Force personnel logged a total of 428.6 hours on these flights.
    • Members of Pelosi’s family were guests on at least two flights. On June 20, 2009, Speaker Pelosi’s daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons joined a flight from Andrews Air Force Base to San Francisco International Air Port. That flight included $143 in on-flight expenses for food and other items. On July 2, 2010, Pelosi took her grandson on a flight from Andrews Air Force Base to Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, which is northeast of San Francisco.

According to previous documents uncovered by Judicial Watch, the Speaker’s military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over a two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol. For example, purchases for one Pelosi-led congressional delegation traveling from Washington, DC, through Tel Aviv, Israel to Baghdad, Iraq May 15-20, 2008 included: Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, E&J brandy, Bailey’s Irish Crème, Maker’s Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Bacardi Light rum, Jim Beam whiskey, Beefeater gin, Dewar’s scotch, Bombay Sapphire gin, Jack Daniels whiskey, Corona beer and several bottles of wine.

Judicial Watch also previously uncovered internal Department of Defense documents (DOD) email correspondence detailing attempts by DOD staff to accommodate Pelosi’s numerous requests for military escorts and military aircraft as well as the speaker’s last minute cancellations and changes. For example, in response to a series of requests for military aircraft, one Defense Department official wrote, “Any chance of politely querying [Pelosi's team] if they really intend to do all of these or are they just picking every weekend?…[T]here’s no need to block every weekend ‘just in case’… “The email also notes that Pelosi’s office had, “a history of canceling many of their past requests.”

“Pelosi’s abusive use of military aircraft demonstrates a shocking lack of regard for the American taxpayer and the men and women who serve in the U.S. Air Force. Speaker Pelosi may have a frequent flyer record for taxpayer-financed luxury jet travel,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

For Daniel, your claims against Nancy Pelosi substantiated by Judicial Watch, are mostly false. Judicial Watch is a very conservative organization, that makes a living out trying to make Democrats look bad. In the interests of being truly fair an balanced, in making your claims you need to provide links to impartial (which Judicial Watch is not) backed up facts, not someone's opinion. Here's a link from Snopes and what they found when they checked it out.

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/pelosi/jet.asp#PP15Z784GU15eJOf.03

Do yourself a favor, ask yourself WHY you are so intent on spreading lies about Democrats that you cannot take some of theobvious vast amount of time you spend trolling for 'information' and check it out to see if it is accurate.

FACTS are FACTS, Opinions are just that, opinions, but those pesky FACTS are too easy to verify or refute and reputable sources are far more important in making your case if you are to be taken seriously.

I think some RepubliCONs have picked up his ideas, including this one, even though Hitler is pure evil.

Shame on you, RepubliCats, financed by the fat cats of Wall Street.

    • Had ENOUGH!!!

I'm self-employed and every year I have to write a fairly huge check to the I.R.S...

It would take three years of my taxes to pay for one hour of flying on Air Force One! I'll be damned if I'm going to lay down and pay a higher tax rate!!!

    • Romney/Ryan 2012!Leadership for a Change! Yeah BABY!

Of course if Romney/Ryan are elected, they'll pay for their own flights, right? I'm sure they will be penny-pinchers, like the financial stewards that they are, and will choose to fly coach like the rest of us.

And how many billionaires are funding Obama?

Has any of those people gotten tax money from that sham of a stimulus that then made it back to the dems in the forms of contributions and union dues / support?

Make a bet Romney wouldn't use 3 aircraft (one for himself, one for the wife and kids, and a 3rd for the dog) wasting OUR money.

Besdies despair Obama has created nothing.

It too a while to read all the post to this point. One question comes to mind. After 8 yrs. of GWB what did he do for America that was so "Good" that we the people would elect Obama?Don't go lame with the answers. Real accomplishments. I didn't count the posts but only 1 made a realistic assessment of the current situation America faces today. All these post that say Obama has failed still have no viable solution as to what they think they would have done differently other than support another politician with a questionable record and past. Them same people also wanted to demand a birth certificate and ignore the fact that all past presidential candidates have all provided more that 2 yrs. of tax records. What is Romney afraid of? Ann Romney claims the Democrats will find something else to pick on, what would that be Ann? Many of the problems we face today were decades in the making and you would have to be a fool to think it would all be fine in just 4 yrs. Even the Tea Party knew they couldn't change things in Washington in one election cycle. If everyone would just slow down and think about how a game of chess is played. Consider this, you can't win a game of chess with the 1st. move.....This is why I feel that only one previous post really makes a good case for discussion. Keep going in circles and see where you end up, right back where you started. After you exertall that energy then slow down and think about the game of chess and remember this fact, one who moves to fast looses, one who doesn't think about his/her move carefully looses, one who doesn't think about how the other person is going to react to the move (Plan Ahead), looses. Please stop expecting an overnight miracle, life just doesn't work that way. Some results come right away, some take time. If you think you have it all figured out then you should put your name in the hat and get a piece of the action and make a real difference.

Also consider..Romney and his company, Bain, was one of the compnaies outsourcing our jobs for more profit..and getting tax benefits from it....thank you congress..for all those free trade deals that are costing this nation thousands of jobs.

It looks like Fox are starting to put the squeeze on for more details on his tax plan, you know you have problems when they are grilling for details.

My guess his plan for closing loopholes will less likely affect his rich buddies but will see us paying a lot more. If there was something good in it for the majority,They'd be tripping over themselves to let us know, instead of the pretzel games trying to get out of answering a direct question...twice.

Here is the deal Republicans. Deep down they know the election is lost and will start the grieving process. This process has 5 steps:

        1) Denial- seen in those posts of those who still predict a Romney victory.
        2) Anger- many have never moved past this stage since 2008. Just remember their_hate is a testament to our strength!
        3) Bargaining- that will show up in a little while. Show them compassion for they do not realize how_pathetic they are.
        4) Depression- that is when it will get very quiet in here.
        5) Acceptance- few will come this far. Charlie Crist has shown them the way!

That means that MICHIGAN UNEMPLOYED does NOT know what he/she is talking about (as usual.)

"MICHIGAN UNEMPLOYED" implies that you are either out of work, and probably collecting unemployment, food stamps, welfare or a combination of those things OR you are making money "under the table" and not paying taxes OR you are letting your spouse pay all the bills OR you are sponging off friends or family OR you are lying about being unemployed....

        Michigan Unemployed,

So, you admit to working "under the table" and claim to not support the "welfare babies." That means you are not paying taxes on your income. How honest and patriotic of you.

Do you realize, or even care that you are a law breaking tax evader and a huge hypocrite?

Another thing, GENIUS: You have been mouthing off about Democrats not having jobs, then you attempt to belittle me for still working (having a job.) It's none of your business, but I started working full time at a young age, and I am still too young to retire.

I also married young and have been married to the same woman for 40 years, PLUS I raised 4 kids and payed for their college educations without any student loans. I paid for it.I guess you probably will find something negative about that, too.....

How about that... A Democrat who works, pays taxes, can keep a wife, and acts responsibly. Who would have thought?

You have absolutely NO credibility on any subject I have seen you comment on. The fact that you keep contradicting yourself leads me to question your sanity, or lack thereof.....

These are the 26 Billionaires that are trying to buy this election.

Sen. Sanders also did the last thing the billionaires wanted. He called them out by name.

According to the report, America for Sale: A Report on Billionaires Buying the 2012 Election, here are the 26 billionaires who are trying to buy your government:

Poor Republicans.... same old mantra about college transcripts, teleprompters, communists, etc. You do have to understand that their vocabulary is extremely limited, right? Don't confuse them with any facts or big words. You could slap them up side the head with facts and they are NOT capable of understanding them. And Romney wants to cut their education even further... poor slobs.

As a small business owner, I have to take a good look at Obamacare.  Here is what i found, $500 Billion of hidden taxes on the middle class and small business like mine.  This has to be repealed by all means necessary.

Read the 2700 pages, it is full of hidden taxes. is an abbreviated list of taxes on families and businesses introduced by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), known as Obamacare, totalling more than $500 billion over the next ten years as prepared by the Americans for Tax Reform:

Excise taxes on charitable hospitals ($50,000 per hospital if they do not meet HHS criteria of "community health assessment needs," billing and collection," and "financial assistance" (PPACA, 2010, pp. 1,961-1,971)

Codify "economic substance doctrine" (IRS will not allow any legal deductions or tax-minimizing plans because it lacks "substance" and is intended to reduce taxes owed); this is a tax increase of $4.5 billion (Bill Reconciliation Act, 2010, pp. 108-113)

"Black liquor" tax on a special bio-fuel (Bill Reconciliation Act, 2010, p. 105)

Tax on innovating drug companies (PPACA, 2010, p. 1,971-1,980)

                Blue Cross/Blue Shield Tax Increase (PPACA, 2010, p. 2,004)

Ten percent tax on indoor tanning (PPACA, 2010, pp. 2,397-2,399)

Medicine cabinet tax disallows Americans to use health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, or health reimbursement pre-tax money to buy over the counter medicines except insulin (PPACA, 2011, pp. 1,957-1,959)

If Obama had ran anything in his life, or worked a job, he'd be way smarter than he is now..

I didn't care much for Bush either. Just no experience between these two..

Romney will do a good job. About time a middle of the road President took office. His experience and trustworthiness, is just pluses we've not seen in a long time either.

He lied, he don't even realize that Snyder and the republicans have been running this state since 2010 and passed laws raising taxes on the poor, the seniors and taking money out of the schools in order to give themselves a tax cut. REPUBLICANS, IDIOT, not democrats. Republicans in this state are anti everything except themselves and I am sure it isn't just Michigan. Michigan unemployed is just another right wing troll that has no culture.

Publius*: I can see from the comments by the folks after your description of odumbacare taxes, they just simply don't get it. The old, "I've already made up my mind, don't try to confuse me with the facts," line. This just goes to show that odumba and the dems and liberals CAN just lie, and lie, and lie, and make people believe them, just like they have done to the American people. I guess one must assume, they don't have the mental capacity to understand when they are being used! I actually thought the American people were smarter. Maybe not after all! What a shame. Just part of the, "I want somethin' for nuthin' gang," with no personal responsibility, just want to live off of somebody else, like leeches. We can only hope enough people "WISE UP" AND REALIZE, THEY'RE BEING USED!

These are the 26 Billionaires that are funding the carpet bombing intensity coming your way. They want to buy this election.

Talk about robbing people. Look at this.

According to the CBO, Obama's payment cuts in Medicare include:

A $260 billion payment cut for hospital services.
A $39 billion payment cut for skilled nursing services.
A $17 billion payment cut for hospice services.
A $66 billion payment cut for home health services.
A $33 billion payment cut for all other services.
A $156 billion cut in payment rates in Medicare Advantage (MA); $156 billion is before considering interactions with other provisions.

The House Ways and Means Committee was able to include interactions with other provisions, estimating the cuts to MA to be even higher, coming in at $308 billion. $56 billion in cuts for disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments.* DSH payments go to hospitals that serve a large number of low-income patients. $114 billion in other provisions pertaining to Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP* (does not include coverage-related provisions.)

Clinton answered this type of crap Publius is spewing very well on Wednesday night. The voucher program, even if only the rich and healthy choose vouchers, will bankrupt medicare quickly. There would be no cost controls in such a system and premiums for the older would just keep on rising. Even some of the very healthy seniors would come screaming back to traditional medicare - just as the whole program went broke (which many Republicans would celebrate).

Joe Biden needs to take some truth serum. Bush signed TARP, as well as, the Bail-Out of GM which at the time was only $17 Billion placed in a working escrow. Obama signed the checks and over saw the administration of the funds, as well as, the re-structuring of GM.

With $50 Billion in their pocket in 2009, GM closed 13 plants, including the one in Janesville, laid off 21,000 workers. These plants were not of Obama's approved re-structuring plan for GM.
Investing in China was. They opened 11 new plants, and hired 35,000 Chinese.

Those GM Chinese cars have been imported for a year now.

If we give $50 Billion to a failing car company, is it not reasonable to have them use those funds to keep plants open here and not closed them like the one in Janesville?

And guess signed the mother of all out-sourcing NAFTA into law? Bill Clinton. Guess who voted for it? Joe Biden.

So, it is OK for GM to be out-sourced and alive on the backs of Chinese slave labor?

                    Ya, great leaders there

                    ""

It’s true that GM also has been expanding in China — but that was true long before the bailout. The “old” GM (the one that went bankrupt) was the largest foreign car maker in China in 2008, battling for supremacy there with Volkswagen.

The “new” GM has continued that overseas success. It sold a record 231,183 vehicles in China in May, up 21 percent from a year earlier, for example. That compares with 245,256 vehicles sold in the United States, up 11 percent from a year earlier and the highest in 33 months."

Fact check this numbskull, if we give a failing car company $50 Billion, should they not use it to keep plants open here and EXPORT cars to China, instead of using it to build 11 NEW plants in China, and IMPORT those cars here?

                    Grasp that concept.

Simple.....Banks froze everyone out, only money available was the government. Obama made G.M. restructure management etc. Saving millions of jobs...Romney would have let them crash and burn. That's the problem with Romney, he treats everything in profit loss as if people are corporations to take over and strip profits from, then dump them. • According to Forbes Magazine...
                    • General Motors Is Headed For Bankruptcy -- Again

President Obama is proud of his bailout of General Motors. That’s good, because, if he wins a second term, he is probably going to have to bail GM out again. The company is once again losing market
share, and it seems unable to develop products that are truly competitive in the U.S. market.

Right now, the federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It would need to get about $53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday.

Accordingly, if GM shares continue to decline, it is likely that Obama would ride the stock down to zero.

GM Opens Eighth China Plant, Won't Add Further Capacity Soon
                    By Tian Ying - December 17, 2008 01:30 EST

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. opened its eighth vehicle plant in China and said it had no plans for adding further capacity amid slowing demand in Asia's biggest auto market.

This ``has been a big year in terms of expansion'' and it ``probably will keep us occupied for the foreseeable future,''Kevin Wale, GM China's president, said by phone today. He spoke from the northeastern city of Shenyang after the opening of the carmaker's new 2.67 billion yuan ($390 million) plant.

                    Publius:

What is your point? W. wants some of the credit for the GM bailout? Are you against that bailout or just hedging your bets like your weather vane candidate? Yes, after Bush picked Paulson as his treasury secretary, his administration got a couple of things right when the mini-depression began. But then, nobody can be wrong all of the time. You will note that by the end of W's presidency, his father and friends were trying to convince him to dump the far right ideologues that had screwed up his administration. Gates and Paulson were part of the rescue that people like Jim Baker, Scowcroft, and others suggested to W. (Because they were appalled by the impact of people like Rumsfeld, Cheney. Remember, Scowcroft said he didn't know Cheney any more.)

But hey, American companies building things in China is like apple pie - or at least like Apple, Inc. You gloss over the hundreds of thousands that GM has hired in the US over the last three years. I would not expect more from someone who thinks that the American government should just walk away from an entire industry - perhaps the most important manufacturing industry. Or maybe you would rather have only foreign automobile manufacturers in the Southeastern United States - with no unions. That's your real preference, right? That was certainly the preference of Senator Shelby and Senator DeMint at the hearings regarding GM and Chrysler. That rang out loud and clear.

The UAW runs the business now! Let's see how good they do! I know they(board of directors on whom 4 uaw people sit) proclaimed $14,000 bonus for all GM union workers this year before tendering one dime in repayment money. The bonus wasn't extended to non union workers which i'm sure did a lot for the "espre de corp" of the company.I know they have already lost an amount equal to the baailout money they received, this year.It is only amount of time before they will be back, hat in hand, looking for more cash.Had GM been allowed to go into BK,this problem would have benn resolved .The 40 billion GM still owe in past, present and future retirement and benefits would have been reduced or eliminated by bK.Instead,Obamy using his extraordinaryconstitutional powers he bestowed upon himself, told the first in line creditors, the bond holders to suck air.The bond holders got nothnig,UAW got to keep their bloated salaries, retirement and benefit packages!Next time, someone will have to stand up to these thugs and tell them it is time to share the pain.

Here are the 26 Billionaires that own the republicon party.

Sen. Sanders also did the last thing the billionaires wanted. He called them out by name.

And then we have his other son Tagg, who was against having a Hospice built in his town, because it would hurt the home values.

There is nothing admirable about the Romney family. Nothing.

Hmmm...Jeff doesn't care about Obama's birth certificate. It's just his way of replying to the question of why Romney hasn't released more of his back taxes. Tit for Tat logic. Limbaugh Logic.

This could be the most valuable thing you do before deciding how to cast your vote for the President of The United States of America in 2012.

This could be the most important election you will ever cast a vote in, during your entire lifetime.

Don't blow it by being uninformed!

Butt what where the tweeting ? bet 60% of tweets said something about being a failure.

The only failure in our government is the failure of the republican house to pass ANY bill that will stimulate job growh. Thier onl goal has been to suppress the economy above all else , then blame the president for it. It does not take much intelligence to see that, problem is, you get enough money pouring into your campaign by bilionaires you can buy alot of air time. You listen to a lie long enough and it starts to sink in. It's called brain washing. If you righties think that Romney and the rest of the washington republicans give a dam about creating jobs for the middle class then you need to take your heads out of the sand and open up your eyes.Republican control means a country dictated bycorporations,a country run by the wealthy to benefit the wealthy while the middle class struggle to peck the crumbs off the ground. The repubs even want to get rid of a minimum wage. If Romney wins the supporters will be holding up thier banners and whooping and hollering success while the Sheldon adelsons and the koch brothers are behind closed doors laughing thier butts off and high fiving each other for having pulled the wool over so many middle class eyes.

Mitt "Corporations Are People" Romney thinks he and his right wing multi-millionaire and billionaire money-men can buy the office of President of the United States. But, I think the American people are too smart for Romney and his purveyors of misinformation, disinformation and false information.

Interesting charges to throw at Romney. Funny thing is - Romney (now 65), seemed to be in pretty damn good shape in these photos from the 2008 campaign. When his son ran across someone in a wildfire ravaged area near San Diego who had a huge stump in their yard they couldn't remove - he said - "let me get some people and come back and help". One of the "helpers" was then 61 year old Mitt Romney - shown here wielding a chainsaw quite effectively. His father - George Romney - a completely self-made millionaire - and former carpenter - made sure all his kids developed a work ethic by loading them up with more chores as kids than any teenager has today. BTW - Romney has never used this "help" he provided to boost his campaigns - he simply did it because it was the right thing to do.

If this crook is elected then millions more unemployed, millions more without health insurance, millions more out of the middle class. Why ? because people like you love to be robbed by the billionaires that hide their money offshore. Your fresh idea is to get rid of the middle class and have America controlled by the few billionaires who only care about themselves, like in some third world countries. You also seem to love being a racist and some non-Christian cult.
