Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan greets the crowd at Peterbilt Truck & Parts Equipment in Sparks, Nev., on Friday.
SPARKS, Nev. -- Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan continued his harsh words for President Barack Obama and the Democrats Friday while campaigning in the battleground state of Nevada on the day the most recent jobs numbers were released.
“President Obama is not a bad guy. He's good at giving great speeches, he's just really bad at creating jobs,” Ryan told the crowd outside Peterbilt Truck Parts & Equipment.
Friday morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the US economy added just 96,000 jobs, which was below expectations and the unemployment rate dropped from 8.3 percent to 8.1 percent.
"We got some pretty disappointing news just today,” the House Budget Chairman said in front of roughly 1,400 people. “You know we learned today that for every person that got a job, nearly four people stopped looking for a job. They gave up. We can’t keep doing this.”
Ryan continued: “Our economy needs to create just 150,000 jobs every month just to keep up with the growth of our population. Friends, this is not an economic recovery, this is nowhere close to an economic recovery. We need a new president, and we need a real economic recovery.”
Friday’s event outside of Reno marked the seven-term Wisconsin congressman’s second public event in the Silver State since being tapped as Mitt Romney’s running mate in early August. Ryan reminded the crowd, surrounded by truck cabs, just how crucial their vote on Nov. 6 is.
“Nevadans you know this. You have a lot of power in your hands … you're a battleground state,” he said. “That means you have a very special responsibility. Lots of people around the country are depending on you. You also have a great opportunity. Because if we meet this moment for what it is, we can get ourselves back on the right track.”
Ryan will now turn his full attention to fundraising while on the West Coast. He holds a pair of private fundraisers Friday night in the San Francisco area and then will be in Fresno, Calif., Saturday before heading to Portland, Ore., and Seattle on Monday.

Comments from a man who has never even held a regular job let alone created one? Really! I'm supposed to entrust my children and grandchildren to a man who has spent his entire career destroying one business after another in order to make millions and a junior Arnold who has never worked for anyone not related to him. C'mon, people. At least Wall Street likes what they heard this week. Has your 401 increased during the last four years instead of decreasing? Tsk! Tsk!
Obama and Romney / Ryan stand for the same things. Yes, there are a few minor differences between them.
The mainstream media makes it sound like Obama and Romney are bitter ideological rivals but that is a lie. They are slinging lots of mud at each other, but they both play for the same team and the losers are going to be the American people. This political stuff is used to divide the people, make everyone think they have different stands.
Here, read this partial list of the things they both stand for:
Romney supported/supports Obama's "economic stimulus" packages.
Romney says that Obama's auto industry bailout was 'his' idea.
Romney was the one who developed the plan that Obamacare was later based on.
Both been big promoters of universal health care.
Both candidates are against a full audit of the Federal Reserve.
Both have said that Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke did a good job during the last financial crisis.
Both felt that Fed Reserve Chairman Bernanke deserved to be renominated to a second term.
Obama and Romney - both are on record saying that the president should not question the "independence" of the Federal Reserve.
Both fully support the Federal Reserve.
They both believe in big government.
They both have a track record of being big spenders while in office.
Neither candidate supports immediately balancing the federal budget or paying it down.
Both support TARP.
Neither candidate wants to eliminate the income tax or the IRS.
They both want to keep personal income tax rates at the exact same levels for the vast majority of Americans.
Both are "open" to the idea of imposing a Value Added Tax on the American people.
Both believe that the TSA is doing a great job.
Both support the NDAA - indefinite detention with no crime committed, pre crime arrests, etc.
Both of them supported the renewal of the USA PATRIOT Act.
Both candidates believe that the federal government should be able to indefinitely detain American citizens.
Both candidates believe that American citizens that they SUSPECT MIGHT being terrorists can be killed by the president without a trial.
Obama has not closed Guantanamo Bay like he promised to do, and Romney actually wants to double the number of prisoners held there.
Both candidates support the practice of "extraordinary rendition".
They both support the job-killing "free trade" agenda of the global elite.
They both support UN Agenda 21 which takes away OUR right to own property, takes property we already own away form us, takes away our right to own a business, and dos the same for us being able to own cars. Nor can we live in rural areas, and must live in "human designated areas so that the UN can harvest America's natural resources easier. (Alabama the first state to ban UN Agenda 21, thru Alabama Senate Bill (SB) 477 legislation, known as the “Due Process for Property Rights” Act. It BANS Agenda 21. Other states are also working to ban Agenda 21!)
They both accuse each other of shipping jobs out of the country, and both of them are right, plus they outsource jobs here inside the USA to foreign nations - repairing our roads, bridges, etc.
Both candidates are extremely soft on illegal immigration.
Neither candidate has any military experience. (This is the first time that this has happened in a U.S. election since 1944.)
Mitt Romney has said that he will support a "cap and trade" carbon tax scheme (like the one Barack Obama wants) as long as long as the entire globe goes along with it (NWO).
Both candidates have a very long record of supporting strict gun control measures.
Both candidates have been pro-abortion most of their careers.
Both believe that a "two state solution" will bring lasting peace between the Palestinians and Israel.
Both candidates have a history of nominating extremely liberal judges.
They both have a horrible record when it comes to job creation.
Like Obama, Romney also plans to add "signing statements" to bills when he signs them into law.
Both believe that the president has the power to take the country to war without getting the approval of the US Congress.
Both candidates plan to continue running up more government debt even though the U.S. government is already 16 Trillion dollars in debt.
Both want to persecute people who need medical cannabis and who use it legally according to state laws.
Both support the FDA which bans natural cures in favor of the pharmaceutical companies that profit from our illnesses.
Both of them support attacking Iran.
Both support the use of drone strikes against innocent Muslim civilians.
Both support the Western backed terrorists in Syria against the elected President Assad. (The same terrorist blamed for 9/11)
There is a lot more that they BOTH support. Neither of them support the Constitution of the United States, our legitimate government, nor the American people. Look at their ACTIONS, not what their speechwriters write for them to say to us to get elected.
Any job growth is frankly a miracle as we keep shedding goverment jobs--of course who really cares if the streets don't get fixed, the trash and dead animals don't get scooped up, and the take twice as long to arrive since half got laid off. I'm still grateful for the fine service provided by the Tea Party folks in our last major snow storm; they lined right up on the road with their snow shovels and bags of salt an just polished the road clean to the cheers of the tax payers who were't late to work at all...whatever.
I'm self-employed and every year I have to write a fairly huge check to the I.R.S... I'm tired of watching the federal government waste money on unneccessary crap like when Pelosi, as speaker of the house, rang up over $2 million in air travel expenses or when Obama and his wife couldn't coordinate schedules so he flew from Washington to Camp David in the morning and then sent Air Force One back to Washington to pick up his wife and bring her to Camp David that afternoon! It cost $181,757 per hour to operate Air Force One!
It would take three years of my taxes to pay for one hour of flying on Air Force One! I'll be damned if I'm going to lay down and pay a higher tax rate!!!
yea romney/ryan will put us in the second great depression. republican herbert hoover clark put us in the first great depression in 1929 when the stock market crashed and food was rationed out in stamps for coffee/sugar etc.(not food stamps like wellfare).romney's parents were not American citizens they were born in mexico. romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and will never know how working class people live.jobs will go overseas(romney outsourcing), medicare cut, voucher for medical care which amounts to no care at all.no college education funding for working people only for the wealthy 1%.no more government funding for planned parenthood.(romney already talked governor rick perry into banning government funding for planned parenthood in texas).A VOTE FOR ROMNEY/RYAN nov 2012 WILL GET YOU A FREE TICKET ON THE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE TO THE POOR HOUSE!.........
and what about all the times little george flew to camp david he was a repub so that was alright. see daniel....
This from a guy that voted nay on all job creating bills brought before the House. This from a guy that isn't creating any jobs and has made a career living on tax payer dollars. Just how many jobs has Mitt Romney created in the same amount of time and how many jobs has Paul Ryan created? Just curious? (people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones)
So what is your plan, Ryan? What is your big bad plan to get millions of people working again within the first year of your Administration (better yet, the first months)? Tell us or STFU.
i like stfu
Ryan, a small time hood learning from the master thief Romney.
irish hood but i believe the construction co. was in business for a long time and he was a marketing director which means his hands did not get dirty except from the money he made.
hey gatewaybull pauly crackers is not going to get his lilly whites dirty by hanging around with the common working people.he lives in a mansion and ivy league nose is so far up in the air if it rained he would drown.hes taxed the poor and gave to the rich all of his life just like mitt twitt.pauly has to find a nice clean place to pray his hail mary or he might get his pants dirty.
please please voMITT show the people all the tax returns just so they know you have some integrity your father was a bigger man than you and don't give us the b.s.that somebody stole them that is too convient of you to say,and if indeed they were stolen i hope the thieves show the world but then you'll say they are forged,i'm sure your handlers have it all figured out.
and....... You and Romney get A+ for firing teachers, firemen, police and especially black and other minority government workers. The hard working middle class people dumped to keep tax cuts for the rich.
Repub used to do a better job of sticking to their script of lies.
Lyin Ryan,
Government cannot create jobs, so the President cannot be "really bad".
Geez. Stick to the script, man.
Ryan is such a lightweight. It's sad to see.
He's branded a liar (rightfully so) and he will never lose that label.
Tell us, lyin' Ryan, how many people you will be adding to the unemployment roles as you shrink the size of government?
You say Mr Obama is bad at creating jobs. Well, you're really bad at covering up the fact that you have absolutely nothing to bring to the table. No specifics. Nothing.
Can't wait for this guy to disappear into the obscurity he came from. Same for his looney running mate.
How quickly people FORGET!!!
Before President Obama took office America was loosing 700,000 jobs a month!!
It takes a long time to fix loosing 700,000 jobs a month!!!
Paul Ryan has worked for the government his entire adult life. He never created a job and certainly didn't do a very well when it came to saving his hometown GM plant. As for Romney, remember that when he was governor, Massachusetts was 47th in job creation and lost 11 percent of its well-paying manufacturing jobs, more than twice the national average and had an unemployment rate slightly higher than the national average--and all during a time of national prosperity.
The GOP has blocked every piece of legislation related to jobs either via the Senate filibuster or voting down or not debating in the House. They have not introduced any jobs legislation that did not include big tax breaks for the wealthy or cuts to EPA or other agencies. They campaigned in 2010 on Jobs, Jobs, Jobs! Their primary goal has been blocking abortion and repealing the AHCA. When Obama was elected, the economy was in the tank and the US (and the world) was heading into a depression. A loyal opposition would have asked the question "What can we do to help our country?" and debated the legislation and policy on the merits. The GOP asked, instead, "Why should we help Obama?" The Party of NO placed party before country and was geared for No Hope and No Change from day one.
Good Lord tell us something we don't already know Paul Ryan. I have been without a job for 4 years and my brother hung himself before he lost his job. So yeah you already have my vote Romney/Ryan 2012!
james i dont agree with your political party. but i am so sorry you lost your brother. may God bless you and your family.
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think.
ROMNEY and RYAN CAN'T HURT ME IT'S ALL !!!!!!!!
GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!!
I MYSELF HAVE NOTHING TO LOOSE IT'S ALL GONE!!!!!! MY JOB!! MY FUTURE!! MY LIFE!! MY SAVINGS!! AND MY 401k!!!!!!!!!! and MY HOUSE!!!
GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!! GONE, GONE!! GONE!!
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think.
Romney is leading the lambs to the wolfs !!! ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!!!!!!\
All you people that want a VOUCHER SYSTEM better check how much Health Insurance costs!!!!!!
Then Romney will privatize SOCIAL SECURITY!!! and GIVE OUR HARD EARNED MONEY TO THE STOCK MARKET TO LOOSE!!!
It's sad to think of Romney & Ryan coming to power!!!
Romney promised to give each person a VOUCHER!! of $6,000 dollars to buy Health Insurance.
Ryan voted against the Stimulus and said it was a bad thing...then asked for stimulus money. Ryan voted against the AHCA and said it was a bad thing...then asked for HCA money for a clinic. Ryan and the GOP are against bringing up Obama's jobs bill in the House and said it was a bad thing....and now chides Obama for failing to create jobs...even though all along they have said that government can't create jobs. See a pattern????
THIS IS THE BLANK SLATE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL GIVE US!!!!!!!!
FORECLOSURE!!!
LET G.M. and Chrysler go bankrupt!!!!!!!!!!! ROMNEY KNOWS HOW TO PICK UP THE PIECES AND MAKE ANOTHER MILLION!!!!!!!!
This coming from a man who represents the city of Janesville, Wisconsin and who did absolutely nothing when Janesville was competing with Detroit to retool an auto plant to build the Chevy Volt.
Not only did Ryan NOT create jobs in Janesville, he allowed Detroit to take jobs that Janesville could have gotten had Ryan been doing his job.
Here's my headline:
"Lyin' Ryan: Really Good at Helping Detroit Get Jobs.....Absolutely, Positively a Failure When it Comes to Representing His Own Constituents Who Were Competing for the Jobs That HE Helped Detroit to Get"
Civilization ... grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.
-- H.L. Mencken 1917
4 years ago Mr. Speaker Boehner stood up in front the House, God and everybody and declared the Republican Party to be "The Party Of Jobs". Since then, even though they hold majority in the House they have not passed a single bill intended to create jobs. Not one. There's not even any arithmetic to this one -- they promised to use their majority power to get people back to work and then set right to work using it to try to take down a sitting President. Sadly, that shameless f*ck you to the American citizens wasn't even a surprise. Their 3 1/2 year attempt to stage a bloodless coup is just a continuation of the "we're an empire now -- we make our own reality" delusion that reached fruition during the GWBush administration. Over and over again we've watched Boehner, Ryan, , all of them not struggling, not failing but deliberately choosing not to do the one thing they were all elected to do -- act on behalf of the citizens of their electoral districts.
Here is the oath each of them swore upon taking office:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
These people, so heavy-handed and sanctimonious about "restoring Christian values" to this country, have treated this oath with the same almost sociopathic disregard they've shown for the truth. Which brings me back to Messrs. Ryan, Romney, Rove, that little "zero tax pledge" f*cker and one very simple fact. It doesn't matter what kind of promise you make or who witnesses the oath you swear, a man is only as good as his word, and Paul Ryan has thoroughly devalued his.
In fact, the only thing that has me even slightly interested in what's coming out of his mouth is the lameness of the insults he's been coming up with since the Demo convention. He's sounding way too desperate way too soon, like he's running out of anything even slightly relevant to misstate. I want to be there when that poisoned well does run dry, because he's likely to start barking, chirping and meowing just to fill the silence. It's a long way to November.
AC
the repubs who claim to be such great christians do seem to follow the bible. the bible says love your fellow man as you love yourself. it does not say what the repubs practice love your fellow man only if he is rich.
Oh and giving really rich folks more tax breaks helps better? Same old song and dance from the repubs, no new ideas.
Ok Paul were are the " jobs, Jobs,Jobs " you promised two years ago ?
Romney hasn't created any jobs. He just puts people out of work for a living.
Ryan is such a jack wag. As if Obama can magically re-create jobs by the stroke of a pen or the wave of a wand, restoring the 4 million jobs lost at the end of the Bush II reign of terror. Maybe if Ryan & the GOP teabaggers would cooperate FOR A CHANGE the country could move forward. Until then, Lyin' Ryan should just STFU.
Obama said he could magicaly create jobs.
The Republicans are proven job destroyers. Bush and Romney destroyed millions of jobs in their own ways.
Even if Ryan were right and it's Obama not being good enough at it as opposed to the Republicans blocking his every effort its still better to have someone who generally creates them rather than destroying them.
