Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan greets the crowd at Peterbilt Truck & Parts Equipment in Sparks, Nev., on Friday.
SPARKS, Nev. -- Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan continued his harsh words for President Barack Obama and the Democrats Friday while campaigning in the battleground state of Nevada on the day the most recent jobs numbers were released.
“President Obama is not a bad guy. He's good at giving great speeches, he's just really bad at creating jobs,” Ryan told the crowd outside Peterbilt Truck Parts & Equipment.
Friday morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the US economy added just 96,000 jobs, which was below expectations and the unemployment rate dropped from 8.3 percent to 8.1 percent.
"We got some pretty disappointing news just today,” the House Budget Chairman said in front of roughly 1,400 people. “You know we learned today that for every person that got a job, nearly four people stopped looking for a job. They gave up. We can’t keep doing this.”
Ryan continued: “Our economy needs to create just 150,000 jobs every month just to keep up with the growth of our population. Friends, this is not an economic recovery, this is nowhere close to an economic recovery. We need a new president, and we need a real economic recovery.”
Friday’s event outside of Reno marked the seven-term Wisconsin congressman’s second public event in the Silver State since being tapped as Mitt Romney’s running mate in early August. Ryan reminded the crowd, surrounded by truck cabs, just how crucial their vote on Nov. 6 is.
“Nevadans you know this. You have a lot of power in your hands … you're a battleground state,” he said. “That means you have a very special responsibility. Lots of people around the country are depending on you. You also have a great opportunity. Because if we meet this moment for what it is, we can get ourselves back on the right track.”
Ryan will now turn his full attention to fundraising while on the West Coast. He holds a pair of private fundraisers Friday night in the San Francisco area and then will be in Fresno, Calif., Saturday before heading to Portland, Ore., and Seattle on Monday.

Paul, you got off message there! Obama doesn't create jobs - the private sector does.
At least he's creating jobs. The Republicans are good at losing jobs to the tune of 750,000 a month. That's where Romney/Ryan will take us bu instituting the policies that put us there.
Where I live, Bain Capital UNDER ROMNEY bought and then bankrupted KB toys, killing over 3,500 jobs. Mitt Romney made his fortune killing jobs. He's a vulture. In addition, the Republicans have not introduced ONE jobs bill. Ryans got some nerve.
So now Ryan wants government creating jobs? These guys need to make up their minds!
Lyin' Ryan; You're not very good at pretty much everything. You're not even good at LYING about the things you CLAIM to be good at.
Ryan wholeheartedly supported the Bush economic policy that led to our worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. What would a Job Destroyer know about job creation?
Lyin' Ryan, it must be rough having to go through life KNOWING that WE KNOW how you REALLY ARE......Ayn Rand---your kindred spirit, is blowing you kisses.
Republicans would like us all to belief that the President has a huge influence on chnaging the economy and adding jobs, but most economist will tell you otherwise. But we do know is that statistically more jobs are created under a Democratic administration than that of a Republican and that the economy grows at a higher rate under a Democrat than a Republican. These aren't sound bites these are facts. Oh, but I forgot, the Republicans won't let facts get in the way of how they run their campaign. Facts aren't important.
So Mr. Ryan, how many jobs did you create with your consistent vote of "NO"?
As for speeches, it is very difficult to LIE on camera. So keep practicing that "bloodhound" look of feigned sincerity.
Obama doesnt create jobs Ryan corporations and businesses do. When are you gonna quit the BS ? You really think we are stupid? Obama doesnt own any businesses now does he? Seems that the congress (who is in charge of the purse strings) are the ones who are to blame for the lack of jobs. You teabagger guys have killed every decent plan put on the table and the few that have been presented have been larded up with non related add-ons that have nothing to do with the law being presented...so are therefore not past. I think there should be a law saying you cant tack on add-ons that have nothing to do with the basic issue thats being presented.
Your real good at casting stones but I dont see you doing anything thats realistic to create any jobs yourself either dude! Your such an elitist jerkoff...and your little dog too.
Mr Ryan lies quicker than a cat can lick his butt
Romney learned a lot about creating jobs when he was governor. He learned that he was really bad at it. 47th out of 50. Hurricane Katrina saved him from being 48th. And these people want to talk about creating jobs? Ryan has voted against every jobs bill that has been introduced in the house. Except the jobs bills that ban contraception.
That's choice considering Ryan was part of the obstruction in Congress.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
And by the way...I don't want to double down on trickle down because that is what created this horrid economic mess in the first place.
The Romney campaign blames the stagnant economy on President Obama. The president does not have the power to fix the economy. Congress as per our Constitution, approves and passes bills and then sends the future laws to the president to sign or veto. In January 2009 when President Obama was taking office, the leaders of the GOP in the Senate and the House were meeting secretly. The meetings hatched an “obstructionist plan.” In the Senate it was the filibuster. The number of these filibusters in the last three-plus has been unprecedented in the Senate’s history. The House of Representatives also blocked many bills that would have improved the economy and jobs. The GOP did not care about the pain and suffering of the American people. Almost 700,000 people lost their jobs just in Republican controlled states; teachers, firemen, police, and other government workers
The party that controls the Senate controls which bills are presented for a vote. Senators of the opposing party make their intent of a filibuster known to prevent a bill from being scheduled and subjected to a filibuster.
The argument could be made that the Democrats wanted the Republicans to look bad by presenting bills they knew would be filibustered.
"Until 1970, no session of Congress had more than ten votes on cloture to end a filibuster. Until 2007, the record was 58. But since Democrats regained control of the Senate, filibusters have skyrocketed. The last session had a new record of 112."
Bush Tax Cuts (2001-08), Ryan's Vote: YEA, Deficit Cost:$1.7 TRILLION
Extend Bush Tax Cuts, Ryan's Vote: YEA, Deficit Cost: $620 BILLION
Bush's TARP, Ryan's Vote: YEA, Deficit Cost: $700 BILLION
Military Force in Iraq, Ryan's Vote: YEA, Deficit Cost: $853 BILLION
ATTNTION REPUBLI-DUMBSTHAT ARE WHINING ABOUT OBAMA'S SPENDING ! THATS $3.873 TRILLION PAUL RYAN VOTED TO ADD TO THE DEFICIT EVEN BEFORE OBAMA TOOK OFFICE!! TALK ABOUT IRRESPONSIABLE RECKLESS, OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING!!!
Yea break it down, and try to put the focus on the President, the President didn't do that!
At least 50% of the people in my state watch FOX NEWS and their lies. How do you get those people to realize that businesses are getting higher profits and paying less taxes while hiring few to keep unemployment up for politicial reasons. These are the friends of the rich GOPs.
Trying to understand your statement, "....businesses are getting higher profits and paying less taxes....." Which type of business are you referring to?
Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships, Corporations, Subchapter S Corporations, or a Limited Liability Company ( alson known as a LLC).
Each of these businesses pay taxes differently....some would be paying less, and some more....some would be gaining in profits, and others would not. To generalize and put all "businesses" under the same blanket statement doesn't make sense.
Paul Ryan as an anti-American right-wing buffoon occupying Congress has voted against every jobs bill that has come up since January 6, 2009.
The people most responsible for the condition of this country are the goper mobsters pandering to the rich and waging a brutal war against the American people.
Have you read Ryan's budget proposal? Economists did and find the pseudo-math incredibly scary. He wipes out quality education and half the middle class while granting the economic elitists free passes and increasing a military budget for weapons they don't want but are manufactured in goper Congressional districts.
And you people thought the buffoonery didn't care.
Paul Ryan is going to clean kookie Joe's clock... A young energetic man with bright ideas against an old goat who can't remember what state he's in..
Poor Joe -- imploding on national TV from one ti-rate to another... when Ryan gets done with Joe -- Joe will need his Geritol and Preparation H.... LOL
The GOP campaigned in 2010 on jobs and have yet to hand Obama a true jobs bill that doesn't have amendments repealing or defunding the PACA.
They can blame Obama all they want, but the legislative branch is not legislating, they are obstructing our recovery and blaming it on the President...
It is not about the "good" of the country, it is just a pissing match.
Can you provide the definition of your acronym PACA--
Participatory Analysis for Community Action? Performing Arts Center Authority? People as A Competitive Advantage? (Maybe this next one?) Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act?
Jay in Jax -- Seriously, I don't know what your acronym means. Please provide the meaning of PACA so I can fully understand your statement.
And obama has yet in his life to consider a job to be anything outside the public sector. He loves his jobs bill that will just increase taxes on the people that dont live off the government dole their whole lives.
Great time to introduce higher taxes on everyone that actually pays taxes, the economy is so damn strong right now.
I think it's the Affordable Care Act. Don't know what the 'P' stands for. The ACA is what the Repubs want to repeal/defund as his post states.
Truedat stop telling lies. A college professor and community organizer are private sector jobs you buffoon.
It is not the government's job to create jobs, it is businesses' that create jobs. If the government curtails business, then there are no jobs, no paydays, no taxes, and no money for the rest to live free on. If the government puts up road blocks to business, it blocks everyone. If the government taxes business out of business, or demands that business run itself by government mandate, there will be no business, no jobs, no taxes, no money. The best way to ensure that we all go back to living in mud huts, and raising goats, and are subservient to a ruling class, is by killing business. I do not buy the "evil Business" BS, it is an evil government I worry about, and evil is bi partisan. Stupidity as well. Free enterprise, or perish.
james - there is nothing evil about our government, they are doing a very good job at representing the dysfunctional citizens.
As for evil businesses, it is not BS at all. Businesses are generally owned or controlled by those with money. We have a situation right now that is a real Mexican standoff, businesses and the rich want to see the middle class spend before they will invest and the middle class and poor cannot if they don't have money. Trickle down economics was a means by which the rich were given tax breaks so they will spend to stimulate the economy. What is so hard to understand about that.
The middle class and the poor are not able to create jobs only those with money can so if employment is not improving who exactly is to blame....not the government.
The rich and businesses are kind of traitors, send the work to China and invest your money off shore ..... these are Americans who chose not to take a chance on America.
Yes, businesses create jobs, but government (by and for the people) can help. Obama has actually done many things to help businesses begin and prosper, starting with 17 tax breaks for small business. For an enlightening article, read Forbes magazine's "What Efforts has President Obama made while in office to encourage Entreneurship and Innovation." August 2012
You might be very surprised and change your mind about Obama's business policies!
Then why is he always bad mouthing people that want to achieve and pandering to public sectors? Public sector is what hurts business the most, in the form of taxes, you cant be for business and be a mouth piece for public sector jobs. They are oil and water.
17 tax breaks is good but 1000s of new regulations and more coming out every day make us business owners very nervous. It now takes tons of time to figure them out. With the sand shifting under our feet we have to play it safe. Which means no hiring or expanding till things stabilize.
Paul Ryan good at speeches, bad at telling the truth
His budget and wonkiness have proven false. He is nothing more than a very average man whose obsession with Ayn Rand in high school has led him down this 'slippery slope', and coincided with what remains of the tattered Republican Party.
I noticed that Ryan and his cohorts in the House haven't even permitted President Obama's jobs bill to be brought to the floor. It's pretty clear to me that Ryan and his cohorts aren't really interested in building jobs. So why is his mouth open?
Obama signed a jobs bill in April 2012. "President Barack Obama will sign the JOBS Act into law Thursday (April 5, 2012), clinching a rare and hard-fought bipartisan victory for his presidency.
It is another attempt by the Republicans to get the government to interfere in the functioning of the free-market economy. They get that way every four years.
You know your a bad choice when Fox News calls you a liar.
When Fox News calls a GOP candidate a liar you know that they have brought out the big guns and that the candidate must be the wrong candidate.
See above....meant to commenton #130
