CONCORD, N.H. -- Count GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney among those not planning to tune in for President Obama's nomination acceptance speech tonight.
Romney told reporters today he has not been watching the Democratic convention, and didn't plan to start tonight -- unless the president planned to report on promises made in 2008, rather than conduct what Romney referred to as a "promises reset."

First lady Michelle Obama speaks to NBC's Brian Williams about keeping life balanced for her daughters. She is focused on keeping their lives as normal as possible while allowing them to appreciate their chance to witness history.
"I think this is a time not for him to start restating new promises, but to report on the promises he made. I think he wants a promises reset. We want a report on the promises he made," Romney said after ticking off a list of what he considered to be Obama's broken promises, including tackling the national debt and boosting job creation.
"The president needs to report tonight on his promises, rather than try and reset a whole series of new promises that he also won't be able to keep," he continued.

The unannounced appearance today by Romney at a veteran's event staged by his campaign -- his second semi-public "drop by" in the battleground Granite State -- included Romney briefly addressing vets gathered to phone bank on his campaign bus. He later talked to a pooled group of reporters and took a handful of questions.
In a new TV ad criticizing President Obama, Mitt Romney's campaign appears to be targeting single women voters who may like the president a great deal but are skeptical if he can deliver the type of change that he was talking about. NBC's David Gregory reports.
Among the questions Romney faced: Why did he choose not to mention the war in Afghanistan during his own acceptance speech last week? Romney parried, saying he addressed the issue the day before, to an albeit much smaller audience, at the American Legion national convention in Indianapolis.

And he said the word "Afghanistan" just once in that speech.
Then Romney took a swipe at Obama for not also addressing the group. "The president was also invited to the American legion, and uh, he was too busy to go," Romney said. "It was during my convention. I went to the American Legion, described my views with regards to our military, our commitment to the military -- my commitment to our men and women in uniform."

Lying again. Willard will watch the speech. Since he will have to run again in 4 years he might as will find out how its done. Because he sure won't win against President Obama.
There is no reason to watch President Obama's speech, all any thoughtful person has to is look at his record. Obama is a great speaker, but is all talk. He has been a failure as president and the time for words is over; we need a leader who can set America right; Obama has proved to the world it is not him.
Hey champ,
With today's job report of 200,000+ jobs created on top of the 4.5 million created over the last 30 months and the saving of the auto industry.....hmmmmm, that is some talk!
The reason why your side sounds so ridiculous is you don't even acknowledge reality.....your stupid-talk flies with the conservative circle ****, but that is all. It won a primary..primarily because he was running against idiots like Cain, Bachmann, and Perry....it won't win a general election. I hope you keep thinking so, however!
and romney's platform is? MORE military MORE medicare..more more more. and no cuts. Wow, thats an impressive platform to run on. Pretty strong ideas. It makes him a savant of the country. birds chirping is all I hear.
Dr.L, the bottom line is that hundreds of thousands fewer Americans are not working as a directly result of Obama's policies. Wages are lower overall and prices are higher. Obama in no way saved the auto industry, that is the most ridiculous talking point the DNC has come up with. GM and Chrysler should have declared bankruptcy and re-negotiated the bloated auto workers wage packages, the thing that is still destroying the American auto industry. We, the taxpayers, still own billions of dollars of GM stock and we also own 70% of Ally bank, formerly GMAC. People on the left should look at the facts before they spout off.
again, can anyone tell me what romney offers? I mean really? I am waiting for the birds to stop chirping.
Romney offers lower taxes for everyone, lesser government regulation which will stimulate business and consequently create job growth (which also creates a larger tax base), a plan to save social security and medicare, which the idiots in the current administration pretend won't be broke within twelve years, to eliminate Obamacare, which will put hundreds of billions back into medicare, and restore American dignity once again, among other things.
Really? WHere is he going to cut the rates. WHat 1 deduction is he going to stand behind to remove? And how many jobs will that rate cut create? I mean, we have had bush cuts in place for a decade. Not much happening. Chirp chirp. Put more money into medicare? that's going to save it again how? Last time I checked we have millions more boomers retiring. ANy reform? Government regulation? tell me again what regulations he plans on cutting? obamacare is going to be replaced with nothing so people have to go to the emergency room to get care? is that the replacement that is going to drive down health care costs? I waiting for a lame answer cause that is all you have.
I still can't believe the man who wants to be commander in chief never acknowledged the war we are currently in or the patriots who serve. That is bizarrotalk.....
I wonder if he explained to the American Legion what it was like running off to Paris instead of serving in Viet Nam.
Why would he watch, same ole crap Oblamo spewed four years ago.He would learn more about the economy by watching Gilligan's Island re-runs.
Willard acts like an arogant little child that thinks he's entitled to be president I don't think will take responsibility for the position he just wants to live in the white house and own the title for awhile and finally be the man olympics govenor were just stage sets so he could say he had the political experience to hold the office used them and dusted his feet on them just like he will the american people.
If anyone knows about "resetting" it's Gov. Romney. He's "reset" every position, every commitment, every promise he's ever made. He's even shared with us how he does it: he uses an etch-a-sketch.
That seems very childish, "I am not gonna look hah hah",,
He is already worn the letters on my mute button on my remote --- actions speak loader than anything he can say --- he is a complete failure taking over worse president title from Jimmy Carter.
he may be, but romney hasnt offered anything different. THerin lies the problem. You got a guy running against obama who thinks the presidentcy is a trophy and doesn't have a clue or has displayed his plans on how to fix things. The speach romney gave, I could have mailed it in myself. More jobs, lower taxes, better education, better health care all for the price of voting for me! Never mind Giving you even one thought whatsoever of how he is going to accomplish it.
Not a clue is Obama no budget, no leadership, and a open check book that he expects us the taxpayers to cover --- man should be taken out of the white house in handcuffs and tossed in jail for check fraud.
So we get empty and vacuous choice against vacuous choice 2. Yea! BTW romney never promised to reduce the deficit nor even is hinting he would cut anything. In fact, I don't even think romney knows what he stands for! So...why again am I to vote for him. Because obama is a putz? so replace a putz with a gold digging putz?
Yeah I am not voting for Romney just against the proven failure we have currently. Sad really last voted for Reagan and against the dumber of the two ever since.
Did you know a lot of companies that have caught a hacker getting past their Firewalls and other security measures find it better to hire them to protect their company that put the behind bars? I worked for a company the promoted their number one person for expenses and overtime to fix the problem. We had a governor in VA that kept almost a million dollars from his campaign then closed the door so no else could do it after him.
With that said at least Romney know where the loop holes are so who is better of the two to get us out of this mess?
Myth Robme ... a legend in his own mind ... doesn't need to see his opponent. He can only bob and weave anyway!
I don't blame him. If you want fiction read a novel.
Yeah he's lying through his teeth!!! If he doesn't watch what the President says he's not doing his job as an opponent.
Romney does not want to watch because the president might use some big words that he couldn't understand and he might get his little feelings hurt.
You mean like unemployment, deficit, leadership, doubt that will happen at the DNC.
Do you think people actually reqads your windbag crap? rotflmao
"I think he wants a promises reset."
That's rich, Mr. Etch-a-Sketch....
Of COURSE he's not going to watch it. Plutocrats have people who do that FOR them. That trickle-down he talks about? Running down his leg.
*crosses his arms and pouts*
"I'm not gonna watch cause I'm a-scared"
F'ing liar having a two year old temper tantrum.
Good luck not watching every major station for the next 10 days you selfish dbag. Its gonna be replayed over and over and over.
I can't blame romney.... Obama might use words like, love....compassion...equality....rational...logical... that would be foreign to mitts ears.
Bawk, bawk, bawk.....Romney is a chicken!
Hey Romney....can't stand the heat????? Get out of the kitchen!!
Obama has no new ideas; it's a waste of time to listen to him lie to us again.
And what ideas has romney proposed so far? Waiting. Birds chirping.
joker, you were answered; learn to read. Someone with your mental abilities is better off listening than writing; you might learn something.
Yes, my low level IQ reads it as follows ...romney is going to cut the deficit trillions but not touch medicare or defense. No reductions in any government agency. Also , lower taxes are going to create 12 million jobs out of thin air. And he is going to have a comprehensive immigration policy. aka Illigal amnesty. Better yet, you will all be better off because he is going to cut obama care and you can sit your sorry a ss off in the emergency room while the taxpayer has to come up with even more money to put into medicareand MA. Plus we add a few more new wars in cause we can't have a president who is considered weak in his first term..They all do it going back many decades... That is a wonder ful plan. you would make a great polititionto sell that cr ap. ! All goodies and no expense for anyone. In other words.---- Romney is business as usual!
He's either a liar or a terrible businessman; ALWAYS scout your competition.
Either Mr Romney is not being truthfull and does plan to watch, or he is another "crackpot Teapuglican" that has apparently taken over what USED to be the Republican Party.
Only a fool would think that romney is tea party. That would mean fiscal responsibility of which romney stated he would not cut medicare or defense. Without any cuts in those areas, he is smoke and mirrors. That's not tea party. Tea party is get rid of about 70 departments ; then start to slash and burn. After that, ship out 12 million illegals to create 12 million jobs. Romney, he is old money and old republican. Bush buddies. status quo. New wars and more money spent. . Give me the glory and more money for the corporate donors.
Oh, who does he think he's kidding? He will watch. He just wants people to think he is super confident and cool, calm, and collected. You know damn well that he had his face glued to the t.v. last night when president Clinton spoke and he will do the same tonight.
TAX RETURNS! TAX RETURNS! TAX RETURNS!
He has no need to be scared of a good speech.
Romney is wearing magic mormon panties...they can protect you from everything...bullets, fire and the truth.
Lyin' Ryan can't watch...at 10pm, he'll be running a 4 hour marathon in 2 hours.
he cant watch cause guess what the question was answerred today
Are we better off Rommey eat your words ::The Dow Jones Industrial Average ($INDU +1.87%) closed up 245 points to 13,292, its best close since Dec. 28, 2007. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index ($INX +2.04%) had its best close since Jan. 3, 2008, and the Nasdaq Composite ($COMPX +2.17%) had its best finish since Nov. 15, 2000. HELL YES WE ARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best since. So we are better off? I am feeling it.
The DOW is still more than a thousand points lower than when the democrats took control of Congress. Just what has Obama done to stimulate Wall Street? Everything he has done has slowed progress; now the GOP has control of the House and has stopped Obama's irresponsible spending; things should be getting a little better.
Right, TRM, because Wall Street really needs help right now.
Steve, myself and many others have lost ten of thousands of our retirement dollars thanks to Obama's attacks on Wall Street.
Then maybe you should have managed your money better. The Dow started it's decline at the end of 2007. It bottomed out in March 2009, two months after President Obama took office. It has since recovered and is only 8% or so off it's 2007 peak.
Try again.
In fact, the dow is up 1.32% compared to 5 years ago today. There was a big run up into October 2007, and then it all came crashing down on President Bush's watch.
Steve, you miss the point and apparently don't understand. The DOW, and millions of Americans' retirement funds would be much higher if not for Obama's mishandling of the economy. It is no great thing to invest in a 401K and still be 8% under what you put in it five years later. Millions of Americans did not invest unwisely in the stock market, but millions of Americans did invest in Obama, a mistake that will not be repeated.
You should be thanking Obama for his "attacks" on Wall St. He contributed to stemming the carnage.
The DOW peaked at over 14,100 and didn't begin its decline until the democrats took control of Congress.
AGirl, the only thing Obama "stemmed" is more growth.
Romney's not going to watch the speech. Well, he's still your president. I guess Romney doesn't want to be informed just like the rest of the GOP. To them, ignornace is bliss.
