Subscribe to RSSCONCORD, N.H. -- Count GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney among those not planning to tune in for President Obama's nomination acceptance speech tonight.
Romney told reporters today he has not been watching the Democratic convention, and didn't plan to start tonight -- unless the president planned to report on promises made in 2008, rather than conduct what Romney referred to as a "promises reset."

First lady Michelle Obama speaks to NBC's Brian Williams about keeping life balanced for her daughters. She is focused on keeping their lives as normal as possible while allowing them to appreciate their chance to witness history.
"I think this is a time not for him to start restating new promises, but to report on the promises he made. I think he wants a promises reset. We want a report on the promises he made," Romney said after ticking off a list of what he considered to be Obama's broken promises, including tackling the national debt and boosting job creation.
"The president needs to report tonight on his promises, rather than try and reset a whole series of new promises that he also won't be able to keep," he continued.

The unannounced appearance today by Romney at a veteran's event staged by his campaign -- his second semi-public "drop by" in the battleground Granite State -- included Romney briefly addressing vets gathered to phone bank on his campaign bus. He later talked to a pooled group of reporters and took a handful of questions.
In a new TV ad criticizing President Obama, Mitt Romney's campaign appears to be targeting single women voters who may like the president a great deal but are skeptical if he can deliver the type of change that he was talking about. NBC's David Gregory reports.
Among the questions Romney faced: Why did he choose not to mention the war in Afghanistan during his own acceptance speech last week? Romney parried, saying he addressed the issue the day before, to an albeit much smaller audience, at the American Legion national convention in Indianapolis.

And he said the word "Afghanistan" just once in that speech.
Then Romney took a swipe at Obama for not also addressing the group. "The president was also invited to the American legion, and uh, he was too busy to go," Romney said. "It was during my convention. I went to the American Legion, described my views with regards to our military, our commitment to the military -- my commitment to our men and women in uniform."

The"proof is in the puddin" as they say. Or in this case, the proof is in the policy. As Democrats have always said, rich people are not evil....rich people are not to be disparaged....but rich people should pay their fair share. The people on your list understand that and have advocated for it.

Let me get this straight:
The vast majority of rich people in the US are democrats (which is probably true), just as the vast majority of people below the poverty line are republicans.
These rich democrats support policies which increase their own taxes and provide a social safety net.

Obviously there has been some mixup somewhere.
I do not believe Romney when he says he is not going to watch, if you are in the political fight of your life it would not be wise to dismiss your opponent. He is just saying that so that some other people might not choose to watch because he knows his speech will pale in comparison. Yet another lie. And if it is true, it means that he will be relying on his advisors to tell him waht to say in response, how is that leadership?

There has been no mix-up. You have just discovered how well the leaders of the Republican party have brainwashed and distorted the truth that their party members think is reality. That is why the GOP is so pitiful, they, time and time again, vote against their best self interests because Republican politicians dangle candy like "Marriage Inequality", "Gun Rights", "God", and "Socialism" in front of them. They go crazy for these simple words like cats go for cat-nip. They do not care what their politicians do to them so long as these first three of four words are up held and socialism is proclaimed as being a worse enemy to this country than fascism and communism.
They thrive on the fact that some Republicans are too stupid to realize we are not a pure capitalist country, we have a mix of socialist and capitalist policies and that, that mix of policies is what makes this country as powerful as it has been and as cherished as it has been. That these Republicans will forget everything else so long as they get to keep their guns and "God" is the leader of their party.
That does not mean R's do not want to help the country, the problem is that their side projects like putting God firmly into politics will do so much more damage than their main, non-extremist, ideology will restore.

The phrase "under God" doesn't change the content of the platform whether it is included or not. It's overused to the point of being meaningless. Technically, it doesn't belong in any legal document since there is no way to prove the existence of God, so attaching it as part of something makes the thing you're referencing meaningless. It's like me agreeing to a contract where I'll pay if God is willing. Try to then make me pay since you can't prove God was willing and I'll swear He wasn't and since you signed the contract including a party and action that can't be confirmed, there is no contract to enforce. So, now that it's back in the platform, and I don't believe in God, do I now ignore anything it's attached to as not part of the platform since in my view nothing actually exists under God?
The other change was even more ridiculous. Since when do we get to make policy statements about where other sovereign nations can have their Capitals? Especially when Jerusalem isn't the Capital of Israel in the first place. Tel Aviv is which is where all the government offices and embassies are. Is the intention for us to force Israel to move their Capital to make the U.S. happier or to score political points?
Neither of those changes should have been made and no apology is owed anybody for their omission.

As to Romney and his "too important" for Vietnam, that seems worse than draft dodging.
Beezl, Hi is a DRAFT DODGER!! Get over it. He could have done the mission anytime. Those of us that reported in can tell you we didn't want to go, but we did. You may not understand but you could avoid the draft by seeking ways, such as staying in school, going on a mission to get a deferrment until age 26 at which time you had successfully avoided the draft. He did it so stuff it. If a person running for president didn't serve when he had the opportuity and while his countrymen were doing so then that becomes a big black mark and most of these people accepted the term COWARD and went on with their lives because the country was so against that war they got away with it. To not even mention the military in the GOP convention or its platform is just flat COWARDLY by itself so I guess I should not expect anythng different from Rommey.

With my 21+ years of military service and counting I believe I have more of a right to be critical than you do. The funny thing is that Romney, as well as Clinton, could have avoided this issue entirely by not seeking deferments since both their numbers were so high neither stood a chance of actually getting drafted.

I stated earlier that people can be critical, but you seem to have missed the point.
