Ryan takes aim at Obama on final day of Democratic convention

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO –- Paul Ryan wasted no time on Thursday in attacking President Barack Obama and the Democrats on the final day of the Democratic National Convention.

“The president is going to be in Charlotte tonight with the Democratic convention. Their convention actually began with a tribute to big government. They actually said government is the only thing we all belong to,” Ryan told the crowd. “Then, they cut references to God out of their platform. They reversed course on that one yesterday – it wasn’t really a popular reversal if you watched it on TV.”

In a new TV ad criticizing President Obama, Mitt Romney's campaign appears to be targeting single women voters who may like the president a great deal but are skeptical if he can deliver the type of change that he was talking about. NBC's David Gregory reports.

Continuing inside an airplane hangar: “But to quote a popular journalist from Wisconsin, ‘they were against God before they were for him.’” [The journalist, POLITICO’s Jim VandeHei, made the comments on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Thursday morning.]

Speaking in the Centennial State – where four years ago, Obama officially accepted the Democratic Party's presidential nomination – the Republican vice presidential candidate said the president hasn’t lived up to his promises and has made the economy worse.

“You know, right here in Colorado, four years ago with the Styrofoam Greek columns, the big stadium, the president gave this long speech with lots of big promises,” Ryan said speaking inside WestPac Restorations. “And he said, let me quote ‘if you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from.’ You know what, that is what he said four years ago and that is exactly what he is doing today. He has no record to run on.”

Sen. Bob Menendez and Sen. Chris Coons discuss how Vice President Joe Biden will help President Barack Obama, and touch on the Democratic platform.

The attacks are coming from both sides.

Wednesday night, former President Bill Clinton spoke at the convention in Charlotte, NC and did not hold back on attacking the Romney-Ryan ticket.

“When Congressman Ryan looked into that TV camera and attacked President Obama's Medicare savings 'the biggest, coldest power play,' I didn't know whether to laugh or cry,” Clinton said. “Because that $716 billion is exactly to the dollar the same amount of Medicare savings that he had in his own budget! You got to admit one thing, it takes some brass to attack a guy for doing what you did.”

Congressman Ryan, who in Iowa on Wednesday morning praised Clinton for working with Republicans while in office, made no reference to the remarks made at the convention last night by the 42nd president.

The House Budget Committee Chairman, however, did acknowledge he may have finally found one thing to agree on with current Vice President Joe Biden.

“You know it was just reported that in the middle of President Obama’s debt ceiling negotiations last summer Vice President Biden said quote, ‘You know if I were doing this I’d do it totally different,’” Ryan told the nearly 3,000 people here in Colorado about the upcoming Bob Woodward book, "The Price of Politics."

"Sounds like Joe and I finally agree on something," the congressman deadpanned.

Bush said he would NEVER put US troops on the ground in Pakistan to get Bin Laden. Republicans love to act like oh, Obama just happened to be President when we found him. Even McCain said Bin Laden was in Pakistan - Bush just wasn't willing to go there after him.

The reality is that putting troops on the ground on foreign soil, when you're only 50% certain, is very risky diplomatically and was a gutsy call. Obama made the call.

I GUESS PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO SEE THROUGH THE BULL @!$%#....

"So far, U.S. President Barack Obama has not received much of a bounce yet in popular support from the Democratic National Convention, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found on Thursday.

The latest daily tracking poll found Republican Mitt Romney still clinging to a narrow lead of 45 percent to Obama’s 44 percent among likely voters. Romney had led by 46 percent to 44 percent in Wednesday’s poll."

You might be a republican if you believe that the rich are in more need of tax cuts than the poor are of food.

Comic relief, I love seeing the big tent party all fired up, these people loathe everything including each other, grasping anything as a means to an end, accepting any faith but christianity, they would and do get in bed with radical islamist whom will quickly cut them to the ground for their ways. The only sorrow I have is for the mislead youth and the old school dems who refuse to believe progressives own their party.

So you know, conservatives will and do accept you, maybe not your ideology, but you as a human being. And in doing so will always lend a hand to those in our communities that suffer hardship and misfortune, though we choose not to enable, meaning you will have to begin to help yourself. What a concept, right, yeah I know.

On another note, anyone but me notice the media actually begining to question Obama, lightly of course, I think they are preparing the life boats.

You might be a Republican if you're violently opposed to gay sex, yet have gay sex with every boy who'll stand still long enough.

How is it the left consistantly claim a higher education status, yet the majority of our teachers which are dems, turn out a nation ranked 26th in the world.

Do you think that maybe the GOP's refusal to pass a jobs bill, which included funding for educating and recruiting teachers MIGHT have had anything to do with that?

Tax cuts for the wealthy are NOT jobs bills....yet the GOP would not pass any jobs bills without a windfall for the wealthy.

No I do not, we spend more per student than any country, it's not the money, it's poor teachers and teachers unions costing billions and our childrens education. The answer isn't always spend more money.

OK, so Romney's plan to reduce the number of teachers must be the answer....

            Des,,,,

            Let's see, at my grandson's school..there are 38 sudents in the class....let's

eliminate 1/3 of the teachers, and give 1/3 or their students to the remaining teachers... 38 divided by 3 = approx 13 students.....add those 13 to the present 38 gives us 51 per class.....

Ask any teacher if 38 is a manageable number....NO....but, by your thinking, 51 would be.....hmmmmmmmmm

Paul Ryan, so young, so handsome and the laughing-stock of the country. It would be wonderful for a comedian but for a career politician it's the kiss of death. The problem is that Mr. Ryan does not learn. He starts with the nonsense about "big government". Is it the big government that you have bled dry during your entire adult life, at the taxpayers expense? Or is it the big government you will need to enforce all the misogynist laws your proposed, Mr. Ryan? You are a charlatan and responsible voters know it.

Because of Obama I now know the difference between demarcates and republicans thanks Obama.

Republicans against -- any taxes for the rich -- and won't sign anything even if it helps the economy even if it helps crate jobs

Republicans against -- any minimum wage increase -- they've always been against this they say it hurts businesses, probably takes all the money they saved in taxes

Republicans against -- Health Care for everybody - they want to help keep as much money as they can in the hands of the rich

Republicans against -- Medicare -- they want to use this money to pay down dept so they don't have to use their money

Republicans against -- Social Security - -they want to use this money to pay down dept so they don't have to use their money

Republicans against -- the middle class -- they are just a bunch of beggars looking for a hand-out and they messing up the scenery

Republicans against --compromise of any kind if it includes any tax increase of the rich (even one cent)

Republicans against -- Obama and anything he stands for

                  ________________________________________________________________________

Demarcates are for -- helping the middle class with their taxes, by giving them tax-breaks

Demarcates are for -- increasing minimum wage - that will boost the economy

Demarcates are for -- Health Care for everybody -- because no one should go broke just because their are sick

Demarcates are for -- Medicare -- to give a guarantee coverage to everyone at age 65

Demarcates are for -- Social Security -- to give everyone some income at age 65

Demarcates are for -- the middle class -- to help them with everything from education to giving them a fair tax

Demarcates are for -- Obama and anything he stands for -- because he - they stands for everybody

I'm confused why anyone making less then $250,000 a year would be a republican?

Maybe they just don't like the color of his skin, Joe Wilson didn't seem to respect him when he called him a lier. I think if anyone feel that way they need to see a shrink because their are mentally disturbed.

Republicans have called for a National African-American Museum. The plan is being held up by finding a location that isn't in their neighborhood.

Let's be very honest about what this is about.

It's not about bashing Democrats, it's not about taxes, they have no idea what the Boston tea party was about, they don't know their history at all.

This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up.

Pretend you hired a mentally unstable alcoholic to do maintenance around your crystal chandelier store. (Bush/Cheney)

This employee destroys a very expensive chandelier and has no remorse.

You fire this dolt and hire a competent new employee who gets to work cleaning up the broken crystal shards spread across the floor. (Obama/Biden)

Cool and steady, his work is progressing but not at the pace you think it demands, so you fire this employee.

Now you decide to rehire the mentally unstable alcoholic in the belief that he has learned his lesson and no way could he possibly destroy another expensive chandelier…(Republicans following Bush policies).

Electoral Votes: Obama 316.9 Romney 221.1

Chance of Winning Obama 79.8 Romney 20.2

Popular Vote: Obama 51.5 Romney 47.4

Mr. Obama had another strong day in the polls on Saturday, making further gains in each of four national tracking polls. The question now is not whether Mr. Obama will get a bounce in the polls, but how substantial it will be.

Some of the data, in fact, suggests that the conventions may have changed the composition of the race, making Mr. Obama a reasonably clear favorite as we enter the stretch run of the campaign.

On Saturday, Mr. Obama extended his advantage to three points from two points in the Gallup national tracking poll, and to four points from two in an online survey conducted by Ipsos. He pulled ahead of Mitt Romney by two points in the Rasmussen Reports tracking poll, reversing a one-point deficit in the edition of the poll published on Friday.

The gains that Mr. Obama has made in these tracking polls over the past 48 hours already appear to match or exceed the ones that Mr. Romney made after his convention. The odds, however, are that Mr. Obama has some further room to grow.

The reason is that the tracking polls are not turned around instantaneously. The Gallup poll, for instance, now consists of interviews conducted between Saturday, Sept. 1, and Friday, Sept. 7. That means that many of the interviews in the poll still predate the effective start of the Democratic convention on Tuesday night.

That Mr. Obama has made these gains in polls that only partially reflect the Democratic convention suggests that his bounce could be more substantial once they fully do so. Mathematically, Mr. Obama has to have been running well ahead of Mr. Romney in the most recent interviews in these surveys to have made up for middling data earlier in the week.
