Romney going back on air

In a new TV ad criticizing President Obama, Mitt Romney's campaign appears to be targeting single women voters who may like the president a great deal but are skeptical if he can deliver the type of change that he was talking about. NBC's David Gregory reports.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mitt Romney’s getting back in the game.

His campaign went dark on television 11 days ago, but today it booked $4.5 million (so far) in TV ads in eight battleground states today, according to NBC News and ad-tracker SMG Delta.

There was a lot of free media out of the convention for Romney, but it was striking that the only advertising run was from the Obama campaign and pro-Romney outside groups.

Romney is also able now to tap into general-election funds, which he wasn’t able to prior to accepting the nomination a week ago.

The states seeing the biggest spending in this buy round are Virginia, Ohio, and Florida with about $1 million each.

Also notably, Romney is spending about $600,000 in this buy on North Carolina, a state most analysts see as beginning to trend toward Romney, but close enough that he may have to spend money here.

The other states he will be up in with this buy – Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada.

Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney talks briefly with reporters after stopping to buy two pizzas at Lui-Lui restaurant in West Lebanon, New Hampshire September 5, 2012.

Ad spending has now reached $573 million for this general-election presidential race. With the help of outside groups, Romney and allies are outspending Obama and his supporters $303 million to $269 million.

President Obama’s campaign is the biggest-single advertiser at $218 million. Romney has spent just $79 million on ads. But the Crossroads groups are making up the difference big time, spending $106 million.

Slideshow: Democratic National Convention

Another noteworthy fact, for all that Restore Our Future did for Romney in primaries and for all the talk of Priorities USA’s fundraising problems, Priorities has actually outspent Restore this election, $45 million to $41 million.

The problem for Democrats is that there are multiple outside groups supporting Romney who are spending substantial amounts of money. In addition to Crossroads and Restore, the Koch Brothers’-backed Americans for Prosperity has spent $47 million, for example.

The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza, Democratic strategist and former top advisor to VP Al Gore, Michael Feldman and President of the Center for American Progress Neera Tanden talk about what President Barack Obama needs to say in his speech to lay out a vision for the next four years.

And once again, there is no advertising for Romney in Wisconsin (despite the pick of Paul Ryan as VP), Michigan, or Pennsylvania.

That is striking. Mitt Romney is one of the smartest guys around. I don't know exactly what his strategy is, but then, neither do the Democrats, which may be the whole point. It's possible that he doesn't want to compete with the negative impressions the Democrats are creating about themselves. For example in this Associated Press article:

(AP) Democrats hurriedly rewrote their convention platform Wednesday to add a mention of God and declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel after President Barack Obama intervened to order the changes.

The embarrassing reversal was compounded by chaos and uncertainty on the convention floor. Three times Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the convention chairman, called for a voice vote on the changes and each time the yes and no votes seemed to balance each other out. On the third attempt, Villaraigosa ruled the amendments were approved — triggering boos from many in the audience.

The episode exposed tensions on Israel within the party, put Democrats on the defensive and created a public relations spectacle as Obama arrived in the convention city to claim his party's nomination for a second term.

"There was no discussion. We didn't even see it coming. We were blindsided by it," said Noor Ul-Hasan, a Muslim delegate from Salt Lake City, who questioned whether the convention had enough of a quorum to even amend the platform.

As a sociopath Romney can lie without remorse. His lies can be convincing as he doesn't express the usual "tells" that show one is lying. Yet, fact check after fact check shows that he is, indeed, lying out his teeth. Ryan, on the other hand, is a worse liar and he does show the "tells" when he is lying. Look at his eyes and his body language when he is lying. Of course, sometimes they think what they are saying is the truth because it is right there on the teleprompter or in the quick briefing from their handlers.

And how long did Dick Cheney speak for at the RNC in Tampa? Bush/Cheney are the kiss of death for the Republican Party and Romney, and that is why they weren't invited - no doubt about that.

As they say in boxing, LET’S get ready to RUUUMBLE!!. Romney has been out fund-raising Obama for months, $100 million in August alone. Heading into the 4th quarter, Team Romney’s ground game will wear down Obama whose only defense is the race card.

Romney desperately needs some big, new lies. The media and Bill Clinton exposed the previous seven. Of course, there will be absolutely no relevant information on his plots, if elected, so ads will have to be regular old fear, smear, distortion, and more lies, especially more lies.

Mitt desperately wants to be elected president. Just as in Massachusetts, he is not very committed to serving. He wants his name in history, not all the darn work. His focus will be on travel as a food critic and buffoon. Andrea Merkle, Chancellor of Germany can hardly wait for a U.S. President to sneak up behind her and massage her shoulders again. She is bushed from the Euro struggle.

In Romney's tiny little mind, he thinks everything is for sale, and you just have to get a mountain of money and do it.

Are you for sale? I'm not.

Now that Willards tax returns have been stolen, how can he show them to the public?

Willard will deny anything that gets published. Maybe it was the Cock Bros. that actually broke into that building and sent the ransom note!!!!!

Mittens wants to repeal "Obamacare", why not also repeal "Romneycare" and equalize it across the board. When someone is malicious regarding another person, this means they will do anything to take the camera away from them. Mittens, why is your money in off-shore accounts, you want the president's job, bring your money back to America.

When is the American people going to realize that Romney and Ryan are practically quoting Adolph Hitler from the Nazi Germany Days. The elderly can't get social security, or medicare, the elderly and poor can't vote if they don't have ID, the women are forced to have kids, regardless of the circumstances of their pregnancy, no taxes on the rich, only on the middle class and poor, the Nazi's used the term "a good soldier' quite often.

Don't be surprised if the Republican's take the white house if the Gas Chambers from Nazi Germany are open in the United States, as they are practically telling the American people of their intentions should they win the White House.

I wonder what Mrs. romney has in common with the average American woman other than a vigina? Her speech at the RNC would make a great sitcom, in my opinion. I'm sorry Mrs. Romney, all the women I know didn'tr come from money then marry money, nor did any of them have nannies for their kids.

The GOP/RNC "Romulian" is full of "Political Hot Air." The GOP/RNC likes to pollute the air with political flip-flopping, economic evil, social sadistic policies, and "Spewing" a "Culture Of Corruption." That is fact!
