Obama’s four challenges tonight… Clinton comes to the president’s defense… He also praises Bush, while lashing out at “hate” of GOP… The danger of the Romney campaign elevating Clinton… Before Clinton’s speech, however, Wednesday was a day full of headaches for the Democrats… A diminished Biden… Obama camp releases “Promises Kept” video, while RNC unveils “The Breakup” ad… And Romney to do “Meet the Press” this Sunday.
The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd previews Thursday's DNC lineup, which includes speeches by Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After Michelle Obama’s remarks on Tuesday and Bill Clinton’s on Wednesday, we now come to President Obama’s acceptance speech, which he’ll deliver exactly two months before Election Day. Just like we did a week ago for Mitt Romney, we look at the four challenges Obama has going into tonight’s address after 10:00 pm ET. One, he needs to convince viewers that his policies are better than Romney’s to improve the economy. (While Bill Clinton made this case last night, the August NBC/WSJ poll found Romney with a six-point advantage over Obama on having good ideas to fix the economy.) Two, he needs to describe how his re-election would truly break the partisan “fever” in Washington and would be different than his first four years in office. (The same NBC/WSJ poll had Romney with a six-point edge on changing business as usual in DC.) Three, Obama needs to lay out what he could possibly achieve in a second term, and maybe even introduce a new idea. And four, as we wrote earlier this week, he needs to rekindle that enthusiasm and excitement from four years ago -- something made tougher by the move from Bank of America Stadium to the arena (though TV viewers won’t really notice the difference).
*** Clinton comes to Obama’s defense: It was just 12 years ago when Al Gore, with pretty good reason, distanced himself from Bill Clinton in the 2000 presidential election. Four years ago, Barack Obama was trying to turn the page on the Clintons and Bushes. But fast-forward to last night, when Obama arranged his convention so Americans could see him hugging Clinton. National Journal’s Fournier might have summed up Clinton’s speech the best: He did the dirty work for Obama. “Clinton branded the GOP as extremist and obstructionist and hateful… And he took the central question of Mitt Romney's campaign – ‘Are you better off than you were four years ago’ -- and turned it on its head.” Here’s what Clinton said: "No president -- not me or anyone before me -- no one could have fully repaired all the damage that he found in just four years," Clinton said of the economy. But conditions are improving, and if you'll renew the president's contract you will feel it." And as Fournier adds, Clinton’s look in the past last night allows Obama to focus his speech tonight on the future.

U.S. President Barack Obama addresses a crowd at the University of Colorado Boulder, September 2, 2012.
*** I come to praise Bush, not bury him: The speech was classic Clinton -- very smart and very undisciplined -- but it was maybe less of a speech and more of a story by your favorite uncle from the South. (Was there a “g” Clinton didn’t drop last night?) And one of the more striking stories that Clinton told, at least as it might relate to political independents, was his praise of past Republican presidents, including George W. Bush. In fact, outside of Jeb, we don’t think we heard kinder words in Tampa for George W. Bush than we heard from Clinton last night. And that praise then made this critique more effective. “I never learned to hate [Republicans] the way the far right that now controls their party seems to hate President Obama and the Democrats.” For veterans of the partisan wars of the late ‘90s, it’s amazing that of all people, Bill Clinton, has become the Democratic Party’s best spokesperson to independents.
*** The danger of elevating Clinton: Clinton’s speech last night epitomized the risk the Romney campaign took when it elevated Clinton, first highlighting the former Democratic president’s comments on private equity and Bain Capital and then using Clinton in its TV ads hitting Obama on welfare. But as we’ve written before, there’s danger when you elevate someone who isn’t supporting your candidacy --you make that person seem like a fair arbiter in the contest and someone whose words carry extra weight. (Greg Sargent writes that senior Dems think Clinton “is seen by genuine undecided and swing voters as a kind of ‘referee’ figure.”) So in addition to Clinton’s defense of the past 3 ½ years and his critique of the current Republican Party, he also used his speech to play the role of fact-checker. He pointed out that modern Democratic presidents have created twice the jobs that GOP presidents had; he said that both the welfare and Medicare attacks on Obama aren’t accurate; and he stole a favorite talking point of Paul Ryan’s (“math”) and turned it against the GOP, arguing that the “arithmetic” in Romney’s budget math doesn’t add up.
First lady Michelle Obama speaks to NBC's Brian Williams about keeping life balanced for her daughters. She is focused on keeping their lives as normal as possible while allowing them to appreciate their chance to witness history.
*** A day full of headaches for the Democrats: If Tuesday couldn't have been scripted better for Democrats and the Obama campaign, then Wednesday morning/afternoon could have created more headaches for the party. First, citing the weather, they decided to move tonight’s speech from Bank of America Stadium to the indoor confines of Time Warner Cable Arena. Next, after criticism from the right (and even within their own party), they did damage control by reinstating the language on Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, as well as the word “God-given,” back into their platform. (So now Republicans can joke, “Democrats were against God before they were for God.”) And when the convention tried to reinstate the language, they received boos from some of the delegates. Just ouch. That’s why Clinton’s speech was so important last night. After the very rocky start, Clinton ensured the evening ended on a high note. By the way, don’t dismiss the Jerusalem-God controversies… We guarantee these issues will be showing up in direct mail pieces in Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida, places where either religion or Israel matter to some swing voters.
*** A diminished Biden: And here’s one more point we want to make about Clinton last night: By defending Obama and castigating the GOP, he played the traditional role of the VP. Just think if last night had been capped by Joe Biden and not Clinton. Would the evening still have ended on a high note? There’s no doubt that Biden has been a valuable member of the administration internally, and his issue portfolio has been as big if not even bigger than Dick Cheney’s. But here’s something to keep in mind before Biden’s speech before Obama’s tonight: His stature has been a bit diminished. So you have Clinton – not Biden – delivering last night’s final speech. You have Biden speaking in the 9:00 pm ET hour tonight. And you see that Pew poll featuring a lot of negative words when asked to describe the vice president.
*** “Promises Kept” vs. “The Breakup”: In advance Obama’s acceptance speech tonight, his campaign releases a web video -- entitled “Promises kept” -- that replays his 2008 acceptance speech advocating for tax cuts for the middle class, investments and accountability in education, health care reform, equal pay for women, and the end of the Iraq war. Meanwhile, the RNC has anew TV ad (though it doesn’t say where it’s airing) that shows a woman dumping Obama as if on a date. It’s entitled “The Breakup.”
*** Thursday’s convention schedule:
7:00 pm ET hour: Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina, Antonio Villaraigosa, Beau Biden (who places his father’s name into nomination), Tammy Baldwin
8:00 pm hour: Caroline Kennedy, John Lewis, Jennifer Granholm, Eva Longoria, Brian Schweitzer, Charlie Crist, John Kerry
9:00 pm hour: Jill Biden, Joe Biden
10:00 pm hour: Dick Durbin, Barack Obama
*** Romney to appear on “Meet”: Lastly, we want to note that NBC’s David Gregory will interview Mitt Romney on “Meet the Press” this Sunday. It’s Romney’s first MTP interview since 2009.
Countdown to 1st presidential debate: 27 days

Bill Clinton brought the house down that night!
What a barn burner, factual and to the point!
And before the trash talking about him begins, name me ONE living Repubican who has an approval rating of over 30%?
Currently, he enjoys almost a 70% favorability factor!
Elizabeth Warren was spectacular!
I'm convinced, before this convention is over Steve Schmidt will be burning his Republican voter registration card and applying for a Democratic one!
The man is not easily impressed and it's obvious he's in awe!
PS: How's Jon Huntsman looking right about now?
Funding College Education:
The President increased Pell Grant funding by 95%, helping almost 10 million students to go to College.
Romney would slash Pell grants for every student by $830, and take Pell Grants from 1,000,000 students over a decade.
The President gave students and families an average tax credit of $1900 in 2011, as part of a college tax credit up to $10,000 across four years.
Romney = zero credit for College expenses. He'd let the tax credit expire for 9.4 million students, families.
The President invested in community colleges to train 2 million future industry workers.
Romney would eliminate 129,000 work study positions.
The President ended a $60 billion government subsidy to banks for federal student loans. Today, that $60 billion helps more students to afford college.
Romney wants to go back to the old loan system, and return the $60 billion giveaway to the banks.
Why would 300 million ordinary Americans support Education only for the wealthy few? Democracy requires a well-educated nation! The choice here is clear:
NO college, unless you can "borrow the money from your parents" under Romney.
Or college for ALL our kids under President Obama.
Go ahead: (Republicans) Make My Day:
Ask me if I'm better off now than I was four years ago. Let me count the ways.
1.My investments are returning. Under Bush 43 the stock market was dropping like a rock and under President Obama the stock market is making steady progress.
2.Under Obamacare the donut hole is shrinking, allowing me (a senior) to pay less for my meds. Yes, Obama does care!
3.Medicaid is still intact. My wife's mother is in a nursing home and she needs Medicaid. The Ryan budget plans to cut Medicaid by one-third.
4.Medicare covers people with pre-existing conditions and a person in my family has a pre-existing condition. Thank you President Obama and Chief Justice John Roberts.
5.Thanks to President Obama the interest on student loans did not double. My niece thanks you for that.
6.My nephew bought a Chevy Volt. President Obama saved the auto industry…and killed bin Laden.
7.Speaking of bin Laden, Americans are safer today than we were 4 years ago. 9/11 was on Bush 43's watch.
8.I could go on, but I have made my point.
Millions of Americans can recognize how President Obama has personally made their life better these past 4 years.
In Clinton We Trust (?)
Back in his day, Bill Clinton told us the era of big government was over. But last night political expediency called for re-embracing that very same concept. From government intrusion into the healthcare economy to those pesky financial regulations to the injection of billions of borrowed dollars for auto bailouts and other economic stimulus, the central core of the case he made for Obama's reelection was the massive intervention of big government in our lives. All wrapped in a virtuous tone that preaches we're all in this together, just to make us feel good about what Uncle Sugar plans to do to us next.
All that was bad enough, but he really rolled a snake eyes on the key question in this election: are you better off than four years ago. In wonk-like fashion, Clinton went down a list of measures he says indicate the economy is doing much better than it was when Obama took office. But he conceded this key point: most folks aren't feeling that improvement yet. And if folks aren't feeling it, then by golly it's not happening no matter how many data points you try to use to support your case. So in an otherwise rousing speech that clearly energized the folks in the arena, Clinton's stumble on the better off question keeps the door wide open for Republicans to continue their attack on this issue.
And if this guy wags his finger at me one more time to make a point I'm gonna puke. Good grief, every time he did that last night it reminded me of the time he used exactly the same technique to emphasize "I didn't have sex with that woman." Enough, get this jerk out of here. If the Dems want to ignore Clinton's many warts and use him as a campaign prop that's their problem. But anyone who considers voting on the basis of what that man had to say last night will get exactly the kind of government they deserve.
Because there are good reasons why this guy is called Slick Willie.
Why don't Democrats have a any convictions?
Hell, I would respect you all more if you would just stand by your beliefs, as wrong as they are.
Something doesn't poll well and suddenly you all see the light!
So yesterday many of you defended taking God out of your Platform.
Just for fun today, how about you all defend putting God back in?
This ought to be entertaining. Flip Floppers, indeed.
Feisty and Ron, good morning.
The President's American Jobs Act, if passed (GOP filustered & blocked debate 3 times) includes:
Preventing another 280,000 teacher layoffs, modernizing at least 35,000 public schools, supporting new science labs, internet-ready classrooms & renovations in rural and urban areas.
President Obama:"I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot".
See how President's Education proposals affect your state: http://www.barackobama.com/education-calculator?
So there it is! Republican lies laid bare. Yes, the rights of women are under attack, and make no mistake, if women are the partners of men as Republicans say, then dammit, the rights of men are under attack too.
Yes, the system is rigged. The rich continue to get richer and when they don't, well dammit, it's up to the American taxpayer to make them richer.
Yes, Republicans are going to gut Social Security and destroy Medicare and Medicaid. They are going to increase the defense budget even though the military poobahs say it isn't necessary. They are going to close loopholes, but right now isn't a good time to lay them out. Trust them. This from the people who ran up the national debt and threw it in President Obama's lap and demanded that he clean it up overnight.
The points are out there, and yes, each and every one can be debated with empirical evidence. The numbers are clear. The numbers say Republicans are lying through their teeth. Irrefutable numbers.
Will Republicans debate issues? Will they present numbers to support their positions? Not if early posters' responses are any indicator. Well, just look at the audience at the convention; women, and Latinos, and dark-skinned folk. They were younger and older. There just weren't enough white people, doggone it.
Well, that's diversity folks. That's what America really, honestly looks like. It's not just rich white people who are determined to bleed every last cent of wealth from those who actually create that wealth.
As clear as President Clinton's message was and is, the race is still going to be close. Republicans cannot and will not debate empirical evidence. They will do anything to hide the truth. They will deflect and divert.
So far Democrat speakers have pounded Republican with the one weapon Republicans cannot counter....the Truth. All that remains is for President Obama to continue a national quest for truth and unity. He can extend his hand to Republicans who desperately want to take their party out of the hands of the crazies. It is for President Obama to show that it is Democrats who understand fiscal responsibility.
I'm going to give myself a break today and not read any of the right wing
crappost being posted.White Collar Auto foolishly writes:
Why don't you tell us which God that would be? Why don't you tell us why God is a political issue?
I'm with you Job1!
No sense reading the same old crap and ruining the buzz I have from the DNC convention so far!
The constant sour grapes have passed their experation date!
I couldn't be prouder to be a lefty, "libtard"! ☺
Bill Clinton gets up on stage and says what? How dare he say those horrible things. Romney and the other Repubs are PI$$ed! An ex-pres says the TRUTH on national TV? Unthinkable!
Poor poor Mittless! You can't come out of the cave you're hiding in
Bill, FairfaxVA - I agree on the crooked "fickle finger of fate" thing. I remember when he was president and he never pointed just one finger. He always pointed his whole open had when making a point. He knew then that if you point your finger at something/someone, there are three pointing back at you. Guess he was giving us a sign last night that those three should be pointing back at what he was saying. Either that or he really didn't give a damn.
Bad day for the Democrats yesterday.
First they couldn't come close to filling a stadium to see The One speak tonight. Earlier in the week the speech was going to take place at, ironically, Bank of America field, "Rain of shine" the DNC said. They didn't say anything about an empty stadium though, so it was moved in-doors, angering many volunteers who worked with the guarantee they'd get to attend the speech. Now they get what Obama has always had to offer - nothing.
The botched "God" and "Jerusalem" issues were interesting. What a cluster-f***. Apparently God isn't important to the godless Democrats, why would He be, so they dropped Him from the platform. Obama also doesn't understand what the fuss is about Jerusalem being the recognized capitol of Israel, so that too got dumped. A huge floor fight ensues with many of the delegates booing God, pretty unsightly stuff, stuff the media dies for to get, ie., conflict, disorganization, confusion, and violence. But the media does manage to ignore it, no major network news outlet even referenced it. Yes, our news is being filtered by the media. If this happened with the GOP, it would have led the news, it would have been the news.
Liz "Cherokee" Warren was talking the populist trash that the system is rigged. This notion plays into the ignorant liberal base that will believe anything that gets them more government benefits. Speaking of rigged systems, it appears the Affirmative Action system is rigged when it recognized Lizzy as a Native American, just because she says so. A little bit of hypocrisy? More like a lot. The media will point that hypocrisy out today, sure they will.
Rahm Emanual was a speaker, spending most of his time on national politics rather than taking care of the town he's mayor of, Chicago. Highest murder rate in the country and a school system that shuts down on Monday as the Chicago Teachers Association are demanding a 34% pay increase. You read that right, 34%. Rahm doesn't care, he's got money to raise for Obama. Rahm, also for the "little guy", but is also the recipient of about $16 million in a do nothing banking job where he "facilitated" deals in the much hated (by the liberals) banking industry. The media ignores that too. Again, more hypocrisy.
Bob Woodward's book is out, and speaking of lies, it's been known for a while, but of course not reported, it was Obama who lied during last years debt talks. Boehner had a done deal with Obama until it was Obama who came back and wanted to add another 50% to the huge new tax increases Boehner had already agreed to. Boehner, already having gone further than he could to increase taxes, balked and the deal fell apart. So it was Obama that killed the deal. A Harry Reid staffer even admonished Obama right to his face asking what was Obama's Plan B? Seeing Obama barely had a Plan A, why would he have a Plan B. Woodward also writes how disorganized the White House is with what seems to be that no one is able to make a decision and no one is in charge - but we already knew that. Remember all this when we hit the fiscal cliff in January.
Clinton spoke. Still speaking is he? He finished? Really? Bill is never really finished. Bill tends to ramble, but the Libbies just love the Sex Offender in Chief, disbarred, impeached, fined, intern chasing, finger wagging, meaning of the word "is", anti-family ex-President. He fits perfectly with their political platform. Bill loves to campaign, for losers. Just ask Gore, Kerry, and Hillary.
Word is Obama smoked a pack waiting for Bill to get done blabbering, but it ws worth it as he got a hug from The Previous One. How nice.
Weather forecast is in for Charlotte NC at 10pm tonight, the time The One speaks. 0% chance of rain.
Walker, why don't you tell me. You all were the ones so intent on defending it yesterday on a political blog.
Anyway, as usual you missed the point. Why doesn't your party have a backbone?
BTW, God is whoever you want it to be. Sadly for some of you, it's Obama.
Why don't you tell us which God that would be? Why don't you tell us why God is a political issue?
And why don't you ask the DNC? They're the ones that took God out of their platform and then for the sake of political expediency, put God back in. Presumably, they know which God they are talking about and why God is a political issue.
Once again, Smiffy is just pissed because Democrats are still more than happy to have Bill Clinton speak while Republicans are too ashamed of "The 43rd President of the United States" to let him speak.
Hey, Smiffy, read #6 below. Can you source who says no chance of rain?
To Feisty, Backhouse, Ron, David Walker, can't add a thing except "I feel good"!
Smiffy is sucking lemons again this morning. For the lemon suckers this AM, 65,000 tickets were issued to attend the Obama speech at the stadium, another 19,000 were on the "wait list"--so please, do your ARITHMETIC--there were no empty seats except in the heads of those who prefer lemons. "I feel good"!!!

I have no idea where you were yesterday but it certainly was not planet Earth. Orbiting Uranus?
Hell, they wouldn't even allow him to show up! lol
Bill Clinton is a highly educated man. He is a Rhodes Scholar. Michelle Obama is a highly educated woman. Barack Obama is a highly educated man. Elizabeth Warren is a highly educated woman. Deval Patrick is a highly educated man.
You cannot fake what we have seen this week. These individuals have used their educations, all of them, for the betterment of America, for the betterment of our world.
They have taken their years of hard work and training and directed all their energies to us, in order to make a difference.
These people have given us a gift. Their hearts and their nonstop hard work to make this a better America. They are 100% committed.
They are the real deal and I am so so proud to be a democrat. So proud.
Jody, did you mean:
I FEEL GOOD
James Brown
Whoa-oa-oa! I feel good, I knew that I would, now
I feel good, I knew that I would, now
So good, so good, I got you.
Obama/Biden 2012 >>Forward>>>.
Will you look at the length of JoAnna's post?
Goodness gracious. Deflection and misdirection, much?
Oh, those pesky facts.
Well, I guess we'll see tomorrow whether Romney learned anything while he was in hiding.
He wasn't there to prepare for any debates in October.
He was there to prepare for the press, once the DNC was over.
Because he's got some 'splaining to do. And he knows he doesn't have the intellectual chops to confront the truth. We'll see what new lies they come up with tomorrow.
Oh, those pesky facts.
And arithmetic. Oh, how we love arithmetic.
What a hoot coming from you.
I'd LOVE to see YOU on a debate platform with Bill Clinton.
THEN we'd see about backbone.
Or lack thereof.
Damn pesky facts.
Hey AM, how is Your new Governor making out?
How do feel about your party caving on God and Israel?
Why doesn't your party have an ideology they can stick to without polling to see what they should think?
Damn Pesky Facts.
Yes JAS1 by all means. Skip down to #6 and get your morning laugh.
Clinton was impeached for lying. Why would you believe anything he says? Bush screwed up when the democratic party gained control of both houses in 2006. Where was Clinton in the 2000 and 2004 conventions? Maybe Bush will be around in 2020!
Looks like the "ignore" feature is disabled again. Oh, well.
DNC Convention news: or, how Republicans are reshaping the Democratic message.
First- the Obama campaign is desperately trying to distance itself from a video made by the host committee that informs us that "the only thing we all belong to is the government".
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2012/09/obama-team-disavows-video-comment-on-government/1#.UEdQYyp5mSO
Think about that statement- and then think about Biden's chains comment. Those who BELONG to their governments are, in fact, enslaved by their governments.
In response to Republican criticism, Team Obama is denying it had anything whatsoever to do with the film-which is ludicrous on its face. The film was made by the HOST committee for the DEMOCRATIC convention. That's not, exactly, some outside group.
The problem for Democrats is that their beliefs are totally repugnant to the vast majority of the electorate; typically, they take great pains to cloak their beliefs in verbiage so dense no one can grasp the meaning. Like the ENTIRE "you didn't build that" statement, when they open their mouths and the truth falls out, they scurry to deny they meant what they said, because their vision for this country is viewed with such opprobrium by Americans.
In a second, (in one day!), instance of Democrats frantically attempting to blunt Republican criticism, Democrats changed their,(already voted on and adopted), party platform
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57506882-503544/democrats-reinstate-god-and-jerusalem-language-in-party-platform/
One can draw no other conclusion but that Democrats understand that Republican criticism in these instances is well placed- and that these changes indicate that Democrats, themselves, recognize that they are completely put of touch with the mainstream. Fortunately, changing, explaining, or amending later just makes them look what they are- out of touch elitists who will say anything, but do the opposite. Moreover, democrats are confusing their paid propagandists
http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/09/dncers-scrap-interviews-amid-platform-debacle-134624.html?hp=l1_b1
One presumes that the lack of robotic talking points rendered their spokespeople speechless. Is red blue, purple green, or vice versa? They had no way of knowing- so they said nothing at all.
Changing the platform on the fly was not uncontroversial, it seems. Delegates to the convention- or a loud, major portion of them- are anti -God, to say nothing of Israel
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/09/05/jerusalem_and_god_get_booed_at_dem_convention.html
Of course, given what democrats TRULY believe, it's a nine days' wonder any of them get elected to any position in this country
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/09/05/peter_schiff_report_dnc_attendees_favor_banning_profits.html
Wonder how they'll fold to Republican criticism of that political philosophy? Maybe they'll send all of those delegates home-like they did this guy
http://blog.sfgate.com/nov05election/2012/09/03/ca-dem-chair-john-burton-compares-gop-to-nazi-goebbels-for-telling-the-big-lie-video/
I especially like the reference to Governor Brown- I'm sure Californians are just thrilled with the results.
Not that he's the only other democratic party hack to make stupid remarks- far from it
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/09/03/mass-democratic-chairman-john-walsh-apologizes-for-honorary-girl-remark-about-scott-brown/
Of course, there were also the delegates who got so tanked they had to be evicted from their hotel- the rate of delegate attrition seems pretty high for Democrats this year.
Democrats did thwart GOP ridicule by moving Obama's speech to a very much smaller venue. Of course, Obama's campaign team insists that they had not just managed to give away all the tickets, but had a waiting list, to boot, rather than admitting that it was a truly dumb move to have planned a gathering for 74,000 with no guarantee anything like that number would show up. Since the number of empty seats was rather more embarrassing than denying they had anything to do with a film they wrote and produced, or a platform they then changed, instead of 'fessing up and admitting that sending out buses far and wide only garnered a few more attendees than the measly number they started with- they lied. Said it was because it might rain.
Right. And the moon is made of green cheese.
Well, who knows- maybe it's more than the thrill of Obama being gone. Maybe now he melts when he gets wet
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/09/05/flashback_obama_has_long_held_campaign_events_in_the_rain.html
Of course, the campaign also offered that there was another possibility that caused them to move to a much smaller venue: It might lightening. Suddenly, Obama is afraid the Almighty might smite him?
Still, yesterday was not a total disaster for democrats. Lots and lots of them were overjoyed by Bill Clinton's long, long speech last night. It was vintage Clinton- including the fact that it ran over by about half an hour. Still, it made the delegates and those watching at home all tingly.
One person who I'll just bet was not thrilled by it was Obama. See, he was waiting backstage to make his "surprise" appearance- which Clinton knew all too well. So, rather than speaking for the 18 minutes he was allotted- he spoke for 48. You can just bet Obama LOVED cooling his heels for that amount of time.
The handwriting was on the wall months ago, when lack of funding caused Democrats to cut a full day and night from this convention. With the exception of just a couple of speeches, this has been a disaster for the party.
Maybe next time, they should just mail it in.
White Collar Auto even more foolishly writes:
Well then, sounds like it's already covered. Check out that First Amendment thing. You can have your God and it really doesn't matter if it's in the Democratic platform does it?
Fool's Gold who wants to double down on White Collar Auto's foolishness writes:
As a matter of fact, it is you who wants to make this a political issue, when in fact it's a personal issue. God doesn't belong in a party platform, Republican or Democrat. He, She, or it belongs in your heart. You do know what a heart is, don't you?
Of course, there's those pesky real-life numbers you could debate, not the existence of an invisible guy. As I said, you'll divert and deflect because you have no weapon to use against the truth.
Clinton's presence shows how Democrats have no shame. For that matter, spotlighting Ted Kennedy was bizarre as well. Why is it that all the Democrat heroes are moral disasters?
The humor does not end.
You lefties are sooo committed to the cause. Clinton, Obamax2, Warren are your heros. You don't need God in your platform, these are your false gods. You adore them. You love them.
In fact they are politicians, just useful, or in this case useless, idiots. Keep the worship of these clowns going, you deserve them.
BCWC
Excellent!
Cracked me up!
Yes, it's always great to be a LIBERAL; but this week it has been particularly SWEET! I was never a fan of Bill Clinton; but man can he deliver the Independents!
That speech was GOLD; but I see the naysayers must squeal and writhe as the 'stakes' continue to get higher. Bottom line, our convention connects with the MAINSTREAM not the Elites.
Wonder if we'll get any more boating photo ops as Romney realizes the entire Flim Flam Scam continues to slip away from him?
Couldn't happen to a NICER set of goons.
PS. My Congressman was on FIRE last night! Whoo hoo!
Curse that FRICKIN' Ignore feature - hey, no jo ALL Dems will happily wait an extra 30 minutes for the photo op when that 30 minutes was entirely spent dismantling the LIES your party and you continue to SPEW! That bad taste in your throat this morning? It's bile. Don't choke on it!
And the take-away from this is Obama didnt like the party platform so he gets it changed. And Mittens stands by his party platform which calls for:
A “human life amendment” and for legislation “to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.” That would erase any right women have to make decisions about their health and their bodies. There are no exceptions for victims of rape or incest, and such laws could threaten even birth control.

So says the wench who gave the world GWB for 8 disastrous years
So glad you asked, Mr. Backbone.
Since the recall election, Wisconsin has lost nearly 19,000 PRIVATE SECTOR jobs.
And, no, that's not just the offset from public sector job losses.
Since he took office, Wisconsin has gained only about 28,000 jobs, with most of those gains having come in the first half of 2011, BEFORE Walker's budget went into effect.
Walker promised us 250,000 jobs in his first term. In exchange for that promise, the legislature gave him just about everything he wanted. So this one is pretty much entirely on him.
Walker told us that crushing unions would help private sector employment. He told us that once the recall was over, and all "uncertainty" had passed, jobs would appear in abundance.
So, I guess he lied. And he lied on the RNC stage last week. He's a fraud.
Any other questions, Mr. Backbone?
Feisty and Backhouse and David
You started off the day with great posts.
It was another great night in Charlotte, another great night to be a Democrat. We have a remarkable record of moving this country forward, a remarkable record of looking out for each other, for working to improve life and its many aspects. For helping to make life easier for all. We all appreciate clean water and safe food, we all enjoy the opportunity to do well and rewards at the end of our working days. We all help build this community to work towards a more perfect union, by helping educate our young people so that they in turn can help the next generation. If some amongst us cant see it that way, then we must leave them to wallow in their warped thinking, and show them by example the error of their ways, that their ideas are not for the common good.
All government — indeed, every human benefit and enjoyment, every virtue and every prudent act — is founded on compromise and barter.
Edmund Burke
Oh, those pesky facts.
Well here's a fact for you, Anna. The electorate rejected the liberal message in 2010 and if you have been paying attention to the polls , they are currently rejecting it again. Frankly, I am surprised (and slightly amused) that the choice by the DNC and Obama campaign was to double down on that very same message. While this may play well to the liberal base, it will do little to change the current dynamics of the race.
JoAnna, Where's Cheney?! Where's Bush?! Where's Rumsfeld?!
Don't you people "love" GWB? Don't you people "love" St. Reagan?
haha
Ryan and Romney. Abbott and Costello.
I'll take the Democrats, who have dedicated their lives to a better future. Romney dedicated himself to a better Romney future. An empty future.
And Ryan? Just your average republican liar.
Losers.
Looks like the liberals are spreading mistrust, slander, and libel (hmm, wonder where "liberal" comes from if it's not to spread libel...).
Only way Obama can win is to, as an article in WSJ said yesterday, "turn this election as Obama vs. Freddy Krueger"
This is total BS. Even Paul Ryan said that the platform is only that. It's NOT the same as the candidate's position.
Those liars love to have their cake and eat it, too, and then afterwards they feed the detritus -- a very polite way of saying BS -- to rubes like you.
Eat up.
@ Fool's Gold --
Well, so much for your opinion.
Got any FACTS? How about that $716 billion Medicare surplus that even Paul Ryan cut from HIS budget?
How about that welfare to work thingy?
Got any FACTS to counter what Clinton said?
Because otherwise, as always, you've got nothing.
If Romney wins this election, it will only go to show that you can fool some of the people all of the time.
And you're apparently one of them.
DailyKos:
According to Automatic Data Processing's monthly report released Thursday morning, the U.S. nonfarm private business sector added 201,000 new jobs in August on a seasonally adjusted basis. That was a third more than a consensus of experts surveyed by Bloomberg had estimated would be the case. The estimated gain for July was revised up from 163,000 to 173,000.
Sure can Noid:

Oh AM, I can always count on you to come up with massaged numbers.
Reality bites, eh?
Seems most of your fellow Wisconsinites (Wisconsiners?) think Walker is doing a good job.
BTW, what did the Obama administration promise us the Unemployment rate would be by now if we gave him nearly a trillion dollars?
No comment on the Dems lack of backbone? How very convenient for you.
But continue to live under that veil of denial
It's probably nice and quiet in there.
PS. I meant to congratulate MSNBC for WINNING the News Night for the first night of the convention!
WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Thanks for being there, accessible and fun to watch!
We are often told here how the Republicans walked away from the grand bargain that has now led to sequestration, the financial cliff and the real reason the US credit rating was downgraded.
Both sides were indeed responsible for not getting a deal but from Bob Woodward's reporting the bulk of the blame can be laid at the door of the Oval Office.
I know the President's supporters will refuse to accept this account and continue to spread the fictitious 10 to 1 spending/revenue ratio claimed by President Clinton last night, but these details contained in the book show that the current President overplayed his hand and is directly responsible for setting the country on course for the fiscal cliff.
MarketWatch: Private-sector job growth picked up in August, recording the largest employment gain in five months, according to data released Thursday by payrolls processor Automatic Data Processing Inc.
President Clinton knocked it out of the park last night. That makes 4 great speeches in the last three nights. If VP Biden gives one of his exciting speeches and President Obama gives one of his powerful speeches, well the Repugs can just pack it up and go home. Cause it's over. Even the Republican guest on the Maddow show last night was so impressed with President Clinton's speech that he said "I WISH WE HAD SOMEONE WHO COULD SPEAK LIKE THAT."
So, this Convention has been a barnburner for the Democrates and should carry them through till November and a WIN and 4 more years for our President. Mr. Obama.
OBAMA IN 2012.
Oh, well, isn't that nice. Yeah, I sourced the same thing down below.
...but did you notice something? Yes, as of 10 PM, it says no chance of rain.
...but what about the hours before then?
You do realize that there is more going on at the convention tonight than just the President's speech. So, what, you would have all those people out in the stadium when there is still a chance of thunderstorms?
...or, what, do you think that everything else can go on indoors and then everyone will just magically be transported like Star Trek to Bank of America Stadium?
Come on, Smiffy, you're smarter than that.
Excellent news Pat!
Ain't no stopping us now... we're on a roll!
While Willard remains in the Mittless Protection Program! lol
Hey Pat, where have you been the last 6 months with minute by minute reports on the the Thursday "Leaked" job numbers?
Has there ever been a more effective speaker than Bill Clinton? Yes, it's Barack Obama!
If you think last night was good, wait till tonight.
Republicans saw their lies come home to roost. All they have is the "they couldn't fill the stadium" argument.
Heck, they even started their own fact check team so they could try and continue their lies.
Romney is running for cover today. It'll be hard for Romney to continue the "hate-fest" attacks on Obama after last night.
How about that $716 billion Medicare surplus that even Paul Ryan cut from HIS budget?
I've pointed this out before, Anna. Since the ACA is currently a reality and because it includes the $716 billion that was cut from Medicare, why wouldn't he include those same cuts in his budget? It would be presumptuous of him to do anything else, would it not?
Backhouse, Feisty, Clara, Ron, Jody, Job1,and all my other liberal friends Good Morning.
LAME................just LAME................
Ryan's a hypocrite.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL who writes.
I find myself agreeing for the second time this month, as usual Bill rocks.
Is just a shame that Bill is not the current President and that numbers will tell the truth about Obama.
My vote still going to Romney/Ryan.
I was glad to hear Clinton set the record straight on the Ryan Plan in such plain language and so everyone could understand.
On Tuesday, I was in an argument with a friend who felt that "more young people should consider Romney because he has a plan for the economy unlike our current president". When I told him the plan had no numbers, and could only hurt the middle class... he didn't believe me. When I told him there were alternative plans such as Simpson-Bowles that the Republicans refused... he didnt want to hear it. His response was that Obama has no plan for the economy and that an alternative should be in heavy consideration especially for young voters.
This friend is not some idiot either. He graduated college and was able to find employment immediately afterwards which in today's economy is supposedly very tough to do.
I was astonished he was unable to recognize his own ignorance while criticizing that of others. He saw himself as an informed individual who knew something others didn't. After the conversation I began to worry, are there may other reasonable voters who feel the same? I knew the Republicans were making this huge sell, but never thought that anyone was actually buying it who had not already "chosen sides".
What I hope is that after Clinton's speech where he explained these things in a form that was very easy to understand that people, like my friend, can see exactly what it is this election is truly about.
It appears as though the liberals on this board know more about what Romney is going to do to this country than they know about what Obama is going to do. In all honesty, liberals don't even care what Obama is going to do, just as long as he wins the election...
I have been asking this for days... What is Obama's plans for improving the economy? So far the only thing I got was a reference to the 2008 platform of Obama's economic plans... none of which came to pass. Bill Clinton didn't even know, or he would have brazenly spelled it out last night... For some reason that subject was kept to platitudes and even more excuses. It's as if he was trying to elicit a pity party for Obama... It's a hard job... (oh woah is me)... No president could do it... (cry me a river)... Obama took on a terrible economy... in which Clinton completely bypassed the part where he was partly responsible for the burst housing bubble... A little disingenuous I'd say.
I'd give Clinton a mark of D minus for his speech. He rambled, took too much time and you can tell he was the quintessential Clinton, beating himself on the chest and puffing himself up. I'm surprised he didn't claim he wanted to be president again. I believe the only reason Obama showed up at the end of Clinton's speech was to remind everyone that it was he who was running for president and not Clinton.
So Ryan co-sponser of HR 3 with Akin is just what??? A fluke?
If its not Mittens position then why not grow a pair and stand up to the nut jobs in his party. His tepid dissassociation from the party paltform just show what a wuss he is.
#1. Stop destroying our country.
#2. Stop lying to every citizen.
#3. Stop feeding us a mouth full of BS.

Alan NJ:
Why, exactly, should anyone accept Boehner's account? It's been proven that the Republicans decided the night he was inaugurated to not do anything that the public would consider to be an Obama accomplishment. A deal on the deficit certainly would have been viewed that way, so the Republicans had to stop it at all costs. And they did. S&P explicitly stated that it was the intransigence of Congressional Republicans that caused the U.S. credit rating to be lowered.
Now, Boehner is spreading Romney's lie about Obama supposedly dropping work requirements for welfare. So why should anyone other that the gullible and deliberately self-deluded believe a liar like Boehner about anything?
Beverly: And a Good Morning to you as well.
Alan, NJ
Downgraded by S&P only and their record has not been particularly shiny. These guys were giving A+ ratings to basically worthless derivatives.
Brianb, a D-, thanks for pointing out that you are not competent enough to grade a 'what did I do this summer' 8 year old's essay
This, from Brian, who earned an "F" yesterday for his lack of knowledge of the Constitution.
Oh, if you didn't see the spin Clinton placed on the Ryan plan, you were facing backwards. There were so many skewed items pushed out of Clinton's mouth, I'm surprised he didn't choke on the words. The exact same spun around talking points the liberals have been saying since the Ryan plan came out. Clinton didn't set the record straight, he embellished on falsehoods and the objections to the plan created by the democrats.
Hey Houston, maybe you can explain to me why anyone should believe anything Bill Clinton has to say.
For God's sakes, the man, as President, was impeached for lying under oath!
Doesn't really get more blatant than that, now does it?
do you lefties ever get tired of spinning like records?
Hey I wonder if you own a business and it starts to fail or fails is it the roads fault or Obama's? "You didn't build that"
Obama/Biden 2012 'Road to Serfdom'
JAS1, NJNB, Bill, WCA, and all the other Republican regulars -
You all came out hard and fast this morning, trying oh so hard to find something to dull your pain and hide your jealousy.
We can all hear the desperation in your words, you might as well admit it. The Democratic convention so far has clearly been better organized, attended, and executed than the RNC held last week.
The speeches were much better - each one an individual thread that wove into a cohesive message that clearly outlined the policies and beliefs of the Democratic party.
Republican positions were attacekd - but in every case a clear contrast was presented, not just saying what we are against but what we are for.
Unlike the Republicans the Democratic speakers didn't just tout their biography and list their accomplishments, they tied their individual experiences to specific policies and made impassioned arguments as to why President Obama should be elected.
They didn't just say they "loved women", they argued for specific policies and touted specific accomplishments. They didn't just have minority speakers, they talked about the issues facing minorities and how President Obama and the Democratic party understood these issues and were doing something about them.
Face it - this is how you WISH your convention would have been. A series of clearly articulated, data-driven yet impassioned speeches that appealed to both the head and the heart and made a strong case for their candidate's election.
If you are trying to rally your base and sway independents, be honest - who was better?
Chris Christie or Deval Patrick?
Ann Romney or Michelle Obama?
Bill Clinton or Paul Ryan?
I think it was a clean sweep for the Democrats, and President Obama hasn't even spoken yet!
Paul Ryan - The Deficit? I Built That!
How about that welfare to work thingy?
I've previously commented on this before and unfortunately don't have time to argue about it now. But a couple of questions for you, Anna. If your true intent was to increase the number of people working who are current welfare recipients, why would you weaken any aspect of the work requirements? And why would you categorically state that your intention was not to decrease the welfare rolls in any way and that you would oppose any proposition that did so?
And yet he wasn't found guilty. I guess that must be one of those 'pesky facts' you often tend to overlook.
What we're seeing this week is a display of well educated people who have chosen public service rather than try to grasp wealth and power through narrow interests. They have given their lives to those in America who are grasping the American Dream and these democrats on stage this week are supporting us 100%.
They all live comfortable lives, yet aren't satisfied with the state of our union when others can't afford health care, can't afford educations, can't afford housing.
They understand what democracy is all about. And we are fortunate that they are on our side.
Alan, I can probably do the research on my own but when the word tax reform is included that is not specific. There are many ways revenue can be changed and "tax reform" is different than a tax increase. Tax reform can be the elimination of deductions where I would see a tax increase as an increase of a marginal percentage.
I am not certain if the plan included any tax increases originally, and I would not think it was unfair for the President to ask for them. As we have seen what can happen with Ryan's plan, simply taking out deductions may actually hurt the middle class more than the rich. Based on the President's message that is not what he wanted to do. If that was the case you can fault the president on breaking that deal, but I would admire him on keephing his with the middle class.
Newday, it wasn't I who was omitting the punctuation from the Amendment... it was you... so who gets an F? Now if you'd like me to continue giving you lessons on correct English punctuation, I will be more than glad to oblige. Remember, it's a comma, not a period. Have you taken the time to study up on the function of those yet?
Thanks for reminding us of the Chris Christie speech last week...
16 minutes before he even muttered the name "Romney" lol
Much appreciated!
What numbers are you looking for? How about this one. There is an argument over how strong Medicare is. Both sides agree that future funding was cut by $716B. Ryan proposes to use these saving as offsets against the deficit. The Administration uses part of this money to fund Medicare D, expand preventive care for Medicare and to fund part of Obamacare. In other words Ryan cuts the money to reduce the deficit. The Administration re-allocates the money into different areas of the government. The CBO, using the lower spending now declares that Medicare will be solvent for a further 8 years, until 2024 (used to be 2016 using the current spending). The only thing is Ryan, offers a new plan, premium support, for those who are 54 and younger. This will be for people who are retiring and need medicare in 2023 and beyond. What is the President's plan for to ensure Medicare will still be funded after 2024 and how does he propose to pay for it if he will not raise taxes on those earning less than 250K?
On Simpson-Bowles. Yes, the republicans walked away but created there own plan as stated in the Ryan budgets of 2010 and 2011. What alternative did the Administration offer? When did they actually encapsulate Simpson-Bowles into the Administration's budget? I won't even mention the what the Senate are up to.
So the prevaricator-in-chief has a campaign that is foundering, a vice president that is not only unpopular but is as dumb as a box of rocks, and needs a retired former president to do his talking!
Hey Dems, how's that lefty platform/campaign working for you?
Popularity pole (yesterday) Romney 55%, obama 42%.
Romney/Ryan 2012! For change that will restore America!
Bill Clinton's first speech to a Democratic convention in 1988 was cheered when he said "in closing" because his fellow Democrats thought it was too long and windy. But Clinton clearly has learned how to give a long speech that engages his audience's interest. He took the time to explain the facts and figures that backed up his arguments, and used that "arithmetic" that Mitt Romney disdains. Clinton did a remarkable job of presenting the"wonky" policy details in a way that was far from dry and tedious.
While Clinton quite effectively dismantled Romney and Ryan, he defended President Obama's economic record more effectively than I've heard Obama do it. Barack Obama has some tough acts to follow, with Michelle's speech on opening night and Clinton's speech last night.
Job1: 110% right-on! Bill was a thrill. No hate mongers today.
Why do I want a Clinton in '16?
Obama/Biden 2012
Maybe YOU can tell us why Clinton has a 69% approval rating in America today?
The majority of people have moved on, unlike relics like you who are stuck in the past!
Hi Pat,
Thanks for the information. It's sad that the radical right hopes are for a failure. They are just plain un- American.
And yet he wasn't found guilty
Xabre, this has got to be the dumbest statement I have ever seen here at First Read.
Congratulations.
Because she's already proven she can do the job twice.
The House of Representatives impeaches, the Senate finds a verdict. Perhaps you should educate yourself.
unlike relics like you who are stuck in the past!
Says the broad who wants to talk about dogs on cars and high school haircuts.
What a freakin hypocrite.
Really? I guess you haven't gotten the most recent fact check memo:
"Clinton praises Obama both for his sound budget math and for his jobs plan, even though the money to fund the budget and the jobs plan are used twice. That certainly doesn't pass the Arkansas 2+2=4 test."
"Clinton tried to attribute [the] decline in health costs to the health care law, but much of it has not yet been implemented. Most economists say the slowdown is more likely because of the lousy economy."
"We have written previously how the Romney campaign is exaggerating the immediate effect of the change in welfare rules, while at the same time it appears clear the Obama administration issued this notice without much consultation with Republicans in Congress. Something fishy may be going on. The subject is worthy of a longer fact check in the future but it is worth noting that prominent critics of the shift have raised interesting questions about this supposed 20-percent requirement. Clinton used this figure as a defense of the administration's move, but there may be less to this than meets the eye."
"Wasserman Schultz, who on Wednesday earned Four Pinocchios for denying she made a statement that was caught on tape, insisted to the news network that Democrats were united in adding a reference to the Democrats' platform that Jerusalem was Israel's capital....Yet Wasserman Schultz's remarks are puzzling statement because Convention Chairman Antonio R. Villaraigosa had to ask three times for "aye" votes before concluding that the amendment had a two-thirds majority. As The Post's Scott Wilson reported, "The vote was far from decisive, however, and left many delegates who opposed the reinstatement of the language angry about the outcome."
So take your sanctimonious drivel and shove it.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/fact-checking-bill-clintons-speech-and-other-democrats-at-the-convention-in-charlotte/2012/09/06/55b9df68-f7e1-11e1-8b93-c4f4ab1c8d13_blog.html?hpid=z2
Because nobody is denying the White House side of the story that they had an agreement for up to $800B in revenue and asked for more.
You partisanship is on full display today because we both know that Bob Woodward leans more liberal than conservative but is a respected reporter with impeccable sources.
White Collar Auto
And yet he wasn't found guilty
Xabre, this has got to be the dumbest statement I have ever seen here at First Read.
I believe Xabie was looking for the word acquitted and that doesn't mean free of guilt or not guilty.
but I will ask this question again. Hey if a business fails or starts to fail can the business owner blame the roads or Obama? "You didn't build that.."
Obama/Biden 2012 'Road to Serfdom'
Is Israel a state in the Union? No. Until then I don't really give a @!$%# what the capital is. Putting god back in the platform was a play for the evangelicals with a social concience. Fiction should not be in the platform, so I am a little disappointed that they put it back in. Other than that , Bill Clinton WOW, Nice job Mr President.
BCWC - And your teaching credentials are from where? I can show you mine. That's how much you know about me. I realize that you love Clinton... even with all his faults... but you don't know how to rate a speech. If it goes too long, and his definitely did, you lose one letter grade. If you ramble on, you lose another letter grade. If what you say doesn't tie from one subject to another, you lose another letter grade. He lost a half a letter grade for not following the teleprompter and he stumbled several times.
I know, you thought I was referring to the content of what he said... well we all know Clinton is a proven liar, especially under oath, so I didn't really pay too much attention to what he said, but rather how he said it.
Alan yes, Ryan has the numbers behind the medicare portion. not from the discretionary spending or his "tax reform" that would raise taxes on the middle class while lowering them for the rich? Those parts are most likely going to have a very negative impact on people's livelihoods. I am sure he COULD figure out the numbers to those, but why would he? I mean its only votes.
I thought this article was fitting after day 2 of bashing GOP ideas like voter ID laws, then calling for "unity" and "civility". This is an article about a 4 Dems in Arkansas, home of your superstar Bill, pleading GUILTY to COMMITTING VOTER FRAUD. But it never happens right? We need laws telling us what light bulb to buy, and what size soda we can drink, we NEVER need laws to fight against voter fraud, because it NEVER happens.

You are all useful idiots.
WOW,
The Republican on this thread are indeed spinnng in shock.
Bill of Farifax has decided that facts are jut wonky and he is all for feellings of bitterness and anger that will put Romney over the top.
JAS1,
She is now arguing about the weather forcasts .... LOL
Glad old Joe in albany is still up at the lake cabin, at least he will not make a fool of himself today.
Obama/Biden
Good Morning kiddies,
It was a good speech, classic Clinton and no less than I expected.
It's the bottom of the ninth, the score is tied and (thanks to President Clinton) the bases are loaded. We got two "outs" and the President is up next. All the President has to do is get a single and we win the game. But, unlike baseball, if the Presidents hits a home run, or even just a triple, this evening, then we win the world series. End of the season, next up Basketball (Go Thunder!).
As I said earlier in the week, I am waiting for the first polling tomorrow on the reaction to the President's acceptance speech and the polling over the weekend that will reveal the overall bump he gets from the convention.
He won't have to work up much of a sweat to outperform Romney with regards to the speech tonight. But if the President gets a significant bump from the convention vs. the ho-hum bump Romney got then I think it's in the bag.
Oh yes, we've got the debates yet to come. But we all know how that's going to turn out. Romney brings nothing to the table and all he can do is keeping saying over and over again "Obama is a failure". He has no plan for the future other than a "return to the good old days." The President has a vision and it's a vision shared by the majority of the electorate.
So, I'm waiting to see what the tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow brings as we wend our weary way through this election cycle.
I return you to your regularly scheduled, point-less, mud-fight. It don't mean a thing, no matterwhat you fling! The only thing that matters are the numbers we'll see tomorrow.
Obama/Biden 2012
Clinton/Castro 2016.....or.........Castro/Castro 2016 (It could happen)
Poor Brianb: Can you imagine the nerve, correcting James Madison et al on punctuation? Is that a HOOT or what.
Sorry Brian, your "F" stands.
So about 100 posts in this morning and no Libbies want to even discuss the elephant in the room.
Come on Libbies, why doesn't your party have a backbone?
Maybe we can discuss it on the First Read thread that is probably going to be written on the subject later.
LOL.
Apparently C's do get degrees after all.
Sure, maybe we can also discuss the Nobel Peace Prize and economics. LOL.
If you look them up you will see that discretionary spending will be severely cut in Ryan budget, as is currently happening under sequestration. That is the dirty little secret on entitlement spending. It will eat up the rest of the federal budget unless restrained (cut). So good buy education, research, development, farm bills, transportation bills, infrastructure etc. If you do nothing discretionary spending will die.
Backhouse, Feisty, Clara, Ron, Jody, Job1,and all my other liberal friends Good Morning. My computer keeps freezing; but I'm going to keep on keeping on.
That was a powerful speech last night.
Wow!!! just Woooooow President Clinton gave for President Obama last night. President Clinton brought the house down. Yup, the Big Dog and shut down RepubLiCON lies. Woof, Woof.
President Clinton uses the word arthmetic instead of math for all the right wing kindergartners right winger with the IQ of a 5th grader

from the tone of your post, i can see you either love Bills speech and you are trying to find something else to focus on, or you hated the speech because he TOLD IT LIKE IT IS!!!!
i think you hated it because he told it like it is, that ok. i understand that your have been a lost soul, confused about the future and our past.
i did find it funny that the GOP want to reinstall their policys, but unlike the democrats that did not have their chief architect there to sell them at the convention like Obama had Clinton.
Where was George Bush!!!!
if the GOP want to go back to his defense and domestic policy's, then Joanna why wasn't he there!!!
Please don't tell me he was too busy!!!!
I forgot how full of it Slick Willie is. And it looks like he's even worse now. Do you think he hit that slut Sandra Fluke? The biggest slut in America and the biggest slutmonger in America in the same building. And Hillary out of town. I thought I saw a stain on her dress. You don't need birth control for that!
NO MORE YEARS. THE END OF THE ERROR.
Every time the Repubs call it Obamacare, the Dems should respond calling it Obama-Does-Care!
You know.....four years ago, Obama's campaign, and his supporters were calling Bill Clinton a racist down in North Carolina.
Obama himself said to Hillary back in '08' that he sometimes wondered who he was running against, her or Bill.
What's more, I remember all the nasty posts that the Obama-shama-lama-ding-dongs put up on this board about Hillary and Bill during the primaries in the last election cycle.
Now, all of a sudden Bill Clinton is their hero.
Pure, unadulterated hypocrisy is all this is.
DEMOCRATS FOR ROMNEY 2012
Anyone still using the OWS 1% term needs their crayons broken and to be put in time out. No cheetoes for you today Patriotic.

Hey Obama, tell that to Sears 'you didnt build that'
Why not call it Romneycare? It's the same thing after all.

Republicans have an ARITHMETIC problem. Get back to us when you learn how to add things up.
The Democrats are still cleaning up the mess from the last Republican disaster.
TNSEVOL said: You all came out hard and fast this morning, trying oh so hard to find something to dull your pain and hide your jealousy.
We can all hear the desperation in your words, you might as well admit it. The Democratic convention so far has clearly been better organized, attended, and executed than the RNC held last week.
Dull the pain I have in my gut from laughing so hard, so I'll give you that. What a poor excuse for a convention. To feign bad weather in order to decrease the seat count for when the president speaks really takes the cake. To have a delegate vote to add God and the capital of Israel back in the platform... only to have the nay's prove that they didn't obtain 2/3's of the vote, and adopt it anyway... How rigged... They would have infinitely more credibility if they let the vote actually count... but Obama wouldn't have any of that... it was his way or there would be hell to pay. The republicans embarrassed the socks off the democrats and there can be none of that... can there? Not in Obama's world.
White Collar Auto, changing the subject.
Ah, the good old days. Back when we had Clinton Derangement Syndrome rather than Obama Derangement Syndrome. Clinton lied about sex. Romney, Ryan, and Boehner lie about everything else when its politically convenient to do so.
BTW: Now that Romney is trying to latch on to Clinton's legacy, are you going to vote for the Libertarian candidate? I don't see how any righteous conservative could possibly back a Republican who praises Clinton, even when the praise is obviously insincere.
WCA - Why don't Democrats have a any convictions?...So yesterday many of you defended taking God out of your Platform.
I did not defend the taking of God out of the democratic platform yesterday. Check the comment sections my friend.
However, tell me WCA is it better to do lipservice and mention God in your platform as the GOP do and then practice/preach a Randian, everyone for themself attitude? Or is it better to understand that with a big party not everyone will want him mentioned or think it is relevant in a political statement? WCA as with many things it is about choice, I have my personal feelings and beliefs but when it comes to religion in political matters there is a relevancy issue. Everyone has a choice, I am glad that the Constitution provides protection for me to practice my faith and for others of different faiths to do so or not to do so.
The larger issue in my mind is the wording of "Jerusalem is the capital of Israel". My take is that the smart thing to do was to leave that one as is. I'm sure I will be called anti-Israeli whilch I am not, but signifying that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel is a decision to be made by the parties involved. Jerusalem much like what Berlin used to be was never granted solely to the Israeli state. Suggesting to do so would only complicate an already tense and volitile series of issues making it harder to get to a two state solution.
except one falls under the Sovereingty of the State of Mass, the other a federal Mandate that would be ruled UnConstitutional if it werent a TAX

Tax cuts in the stimulus were put there by Republicans?
Obama has a good working relationship with congressional democrats. You go Nancy. I see you give President Obama as much respect as you did President Bush.
And more examples of amateur hour at the White House.
Anyone know why Backhouse's post below was deleted yesterday? I thought that only happened when someone was posting spam or making racist or obscene comments. There was nothing of the sort in his post. Are posts being deleted now simply because right wingnuts can't stand anyone saying anything complimentary about Michelle Obama?
Dumbfux queen said: Maybe YOU can tell us why Clinton has a 69% approval rating in America today?
That's easy. People like him because they think he's a cool guy. Clinton is a politician. He will give candy to a baby while stealing money from it's parents... Just because his rating is high, doesn't mean people trust him. His approval rating is based upon his likability factor. People liked Hitler too... until they found out what a monster he was.

Those who say the president does not have a record to run on, were not watching over the last few days. It was all about the accomplishments the president has made thus far. And you want to know what each have in common? They each had republican support or were worked on by republicans and almost all republicans voted against each of his many accomplishments.
And one of the many differences I have seen between each of the conventions was the delegates. Only white ppl on the side of Republicans and every demographic represented in the Dems convention. Also, take a look at the interviews of those delegates. Republicans had meeting and were given specific talking points with all kinds of holes in them and much of them not dealing with reality. For the Dems, you can say what you want as to them being factual, but at least they speak what they feel and not what they are told.
Romney, can we please SEE YOUR TAX RETURS!

Looks like MYTH Romney stole from himself to avoid jail ☺. What is MYTH hiding?
Hey Mark, for the record, you are one of the few here that actually have convictions.
As I stated in my earlier posts, this was not about whether or not God belonged in the platform, it was about conviction.
Many here yesterday were all about taking God out, all I wanted today was their opinion on WHY it was OK to put him back in.
Either you believe in something or you don't, or you think it belongs or you don't.
I also believe the Israel thing is a much bigger issue and is far more complicated. A matter for diplomats. I would hate, though, by a choice of simple words, to offend our greatest ally in the Middle East.
Doesn't seem worth it.

The same party that voted for Bush twice... I'm glad to know your math skills also are in need of repair... we can start working on that anytime you like.... now that you are totally confused, what do I mean by math skills?
It's all about numbers... Since the country is now pretty evenly divided into three distinct groups, democrats, republicans and independents... it would take more than the republicans to have put Bush back into office... or does that concept go over your head?
As far as adding things up... maybe you should work on your subtraction skills. Tell me what is 74,000 minus 20,000? I'm not so concerned about the number as I am about the meaning.
Tell me, what is $334 billion - $900 billion? Because I am concerned about that number and the meaning behind it.
Alan -
Are you seriosuly arguing that Ryan's budget is a model of deficit reduction? Have you done the math?
The Ryan Budget has a long, detailed list of tax cuts - lower top-tier tax rates and corporate tax rates; eliminate taxes on capital gains, estates, interest and dividends. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center calculates that these specified tax cuts will reduce tax revenue by $4.3 trillion over the next 10 years.
Not to worry, though - Ryan claims these tax cuts will be made revenue-neutral by closing unspecified loopholes!
In this same 10-year period the Ryan Budget contains specified spending cuts of around $1 trillion. Medicaid funding is reduced by $800 billion, food stamps by $130 billion, and Pell grants to college students are reduced.
Ryan's budget also includes $700 billion in Medicaid savings from the ACA – the same $700 billion the Romney attack ads accuse President Obama of cutting - because Ryan claims they were in the "baseline". So now we are up to $1.7 trillion in spending cuts.
So the Ryan Budget specifies $4.3 trillion in revenue reductions and $1.7 trillion in spending cuts for a total deficit increase of $2.5 trillion – and this does not even include the proposed increase in military spending!
Don’t get upset, though – because the Ryan Budget also includes "secret" tax reforms and "super-secret" spending cuts that will magically transform this $2.5 trillion deficit increase into a deficit reduction.
So that's the Ryan Budget formula - reduce taxes on the wealthy, change Medicare into a voucher system, cut spending on lower-income families and college students….
……sprinkle with magic pixie dust, alter the rules of mathematics, and ABRACADABRA – Deficit Reduction!
Paul Ryan - The Deficit? I Built That!

These morons still haven't figured out that when the collapse or delete an entire topic thread that they also delete or collapse al the clever right winger responses in the thread.
Democrats - The Godless party, the party that says we all belong TO the government, the party that just loves kiliing unborn children, the party of welfare, the party of extreme feminists, the party that says Obama created 4.5 million new jobs, but does'nt mention the 4.5 million lost jobs, the party that thinks buisness is the enemy, the party that thinks every body should pay for thier birth control, good luck!
Maybe if BB spent more time looking for a job and less time spewing his hate around here, he could take care of his kids!
For someone who supposedly hates the government as much as he does, the parasite sure has NO problem cashing those unemployment checks!
Feisty, Jody, Blackcat, Beverly, Ana, newday, Patriot and the rest of my liberal friends - it is a GREAT day to be in Obama's corner - as it usually is. Jody, I'm with you and Feisty, not really reading the hate-filled posts of the radical righties today.
I realized that JAS, Brianb, WCA, etc., have nothing - nothing at all - and they're angry and disappointed in a party that frankly has left them all out in the cold. There is nothing to praise about the GOP and, let's face it, it's become a total embarrassment.
Former President Clinton more than delivered last night -he knocked it out of the park!!! He told the truth - the GOP so hates that; - talked absolute facts - something else the GOP can stand; he was decisive; deliberate; smart; and convincing.
As much as his actions as President disappointed me I look at him now and am so proud he represents this country. Look at our former Presidents who are still living. What are they doing?
Bush, and Bush - nothing. Oh, if called on they step up - no doubt. But, daily, they live their lives for themselves. Period.
President Carter, from the first day he left office continued to help people through his efforts with Habitat for Humanity and his own organization. President Clinton immediately started a foundation to help combat AIDS and help those who are less fortunate.
Why such a stark contrast? We have two Presidents who live for themselves and two who served our country and continue to serve it proudly. It really makes you think.
I know I will be eviscerated for my post but frankly, I'm tired of the hatred of the right. I'm tired of people who have no plans but continue to put people down who do. I'm tired of people who hate just because we have a President who cares about all Americans - not just a few. I'm tired of people who won't recognize the great leader we have and his wonderful family. I'm tired of people who don't want to see the contrast of two conventions - one filled with numbness; hatred; and lies; - and one filled with leadership; hope and achievement; and a plan for the future.
I'll be on and off today - but won't be responding to the hatred. It's tiring and frankly, I've got better things to do - we all do. Let them have their day. They can fill their pools of hatred and swim in them. Let them. It's all they have. It has become profoundly clear they have no leadership and nothing to base a future on.
To all my libbie friends - have a GREAT day. To the radical right - I hope you have a good day!

Early projection shows state with budget surplus
By Patrick Marley of the Journal Sentinel
Sept. 5, 2012
Madison - State officials are projecting a nearly $275 million budget surplus because tax collections are higher than expected.
The numbers released Wednesday, however, do not take into account whether state spending is on track to remain within budget through the fiscal year that ends in June.
The offices of lawmakers from both parties said the new figures project the state will end the budget cycle with a $274.1 million surplus, as well as a $125 million balance in the state's rainy day fund.
Republicans praised the news as a sign the budget they adopted last year put the state on sound fiscal footing. Democrats greeted the figures with caution because state spending projections won't be reported until later, and the state has a shortfall in its account for health care programs.
geo-1957883
I think you got that wrong. It's the Republicans who worship at the altar of the notorious atheist Ayn Rand.
The easiest way to sense desperation from right wingers is when they keep posting baseless talking points that have been repeatedly debunked, proven false, blah, blah, blah. Yet, like a hard-core alcoholic, they keep sneaking into the bag of lies and post them over and over again. When pressed on the lies they cannot defend, they immediately revert to a 12 step program, only to jump off the wagon, doomed to repeat it again, again, and again.
Now, for those of you that claim Clinton is responsible for the housing bubble, please tell us how, keeping in mind your claims that he passed legislation forcing banks, at gunpoint, to make bad loans to people that could not afford them (also apparently at gunpoint), doesn't exist.
TNSEVOL,
Why on God's green earth would we allow access by an elected official, regardless of party, to official ballots?
The point being made is, contrary to what almost ALL dems scream when voter ID laws are brought up, the reality is we need more systems in place to ensure a clean election.
It amazes me that liberals want government regulation in EVERYTHING, except voter laws. Regulate the size of soda we can buy, and what light bulb we have to use, but lets let illegal immigrants vote, and have elected officials have access to ballots.
Makes sense in a Liberal Government I guess....
I am pretty sure the embarassment and let down and being left in the cold comes from our current POTUS. Yeah 8.3% unemployment, a lot of people feel out in the cold. I dont care that you are a partisan leftwing socialist, but don't pass it off as you are holier than thou. When you grow up maybe then you'll see the light. I wish you the best at your trek in fulling your moniker
From the non-partisan AEI comments on the non-partisan Tax Policy Center Analysis
This is before any growth in revenues generated from the new tax rates that are for all taxpayers, not just the rich. I always find it funny when those on the left claim that the Bush tax cuts are one of the main drivers of the deficit but conveniently forget that Obama has promised to keep 80% of them.
And how are the Democrats proposing to keep them by not cutting entitlements? Entitlements have over $50T in unfunded liabilities so if you do nothing discretionary spending will be cut to pay for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
I agree with you that military spending has to be cut not increased.
See comments above on AEI/TPC comments and analysis.
Can I ask, why is the answer to rising college costs increased government funding? Why are we not asking colleges to cut costs and become more efficient? Why can they not offer more on-line courses using the current technology. My company has slashed travel costs by using on-line conferencing, mobile devices, home offices etc. Where is the pressure on colleges to change their model if the government simply ponies up more money?
Does that mean they can start paying back the money they borrowed from education in order to balance the budget in the first place?
And I find it funny that Romney not only wants to keep them, but issue $900B in new tax cuts.

Good morning to you, too, Beverly!
How effective was Bill Clinton last night? The right-wingers are deflecting and huffing and puffing and Alan, NJ is desperately trying to talk about Bob Woodward's book. While I do not intend to get into a back/forth discussing something unrelated to today, I must add, Alan, we already knew why Boehner walked away--that has been reported previously and often; hardly breaking news. However, it was also reported at the time that President Obama suggested they try to do more, not demanded, suggested they look at more revenue and Boehner refused. We also know for fact that Boehner could not sell his TP crowd even the initial agreed-to-version so it's a moot point.
49yeardem (I doubt it, I believe you are a Republican flying under false colors, if not, then you need to change your registration)
Your avatar says it all. You are a racist and you should be banned. Permanently.
But, I guess I should thank you for the opportunity to point out once again that the GOP is the White-Male-Stale party and it has never been more startlingly evident than this election cycle. You and your party have walked right up to the line and are leaning over it when it comes to overt racism. You are opposed to the President simply because of the color of his skin. It has nothing to do with policy or record. You were out to obstruct him from the very first simply because he is African-American
Your coded messages like, Welfare=Lazy Blacks, just to name one of many, are as offensive as your avatar.
The good news is, this is your last hurrah. You will lose. And...the next election will leave you with only one option. To fully embrace the idea that you are unashamedly "The White Peoples Party." Here's some code for you...One Percent = White, Male and Stale.
Good-bye, you truly are yesterday's news. Tomorrow belongs to us, the progressives, the inclusive, all for one and one for all party of TRUE Democrats and Independents. Your "winner take all" philosophy is done.

Obama/Biden 2012
H. Clinton/Castro 2016.....or maybe even, Castro/Castro 2016.
Even though the obvious thing to do is to rave about the outstanding speakers heard this week at the Democratic Convention something else has my attention even more. I'm pleased above all else that Democrats have decided the way to win is to be Democrats. To paraphrase Bill Clinton you MUST vote Democratic if;
You believe Main Street is as important as Wall Street.
You believe the middle class is and always has been the engine of American prosperity.
You believe Medicare and Social Security are important programs that deserve to be saved.
You believe that a commitment to education including Pell Grants and student will continue to give us the advanced, top-notch workforce it always has.
You believe that advanced highways, airports, and other infrastructure are essential to our market economy and our way of life.
You believe that 30 more years of deficit spending just so the ultra wealthy can have still more tax breaks is insanity.
You believe the right approach to deficits is the balanced approach, accepting the reality that revenue and spending must BOTH be adjusted to succeed.
You believe that an "all of the above" approach to energy is needed, one where EVERY possible source must be explored, expanded, and conservation pursued as well.
You believe it is evil to destroy the environment in which our children must live in search of quick profit now.
You believe that women, minorities, homosexuals, and ALL other Americans are entitled to the same rights as others.
You believe women have a right to say what goes on inside their own bodies.
You believe Americans have a right to say what goes on inside their own bedrooms.
You believe that freedom of religion cannot endure if ALL religions aren't equally free.
For too long Democrats have played a game, deluding themselves that being "just to the left" of the Republican is sufficient. It never was, but it particularly isn't now that the GOP has given themselves over to the John Birch Society, the Ayn Rand junkies, the fundamentalist extremists, and every right-wing extremist group short of the Michigan Militia.
Democrats, be Democrats...that's all it takes.
Exactly, Pat! All we heard from the GOP convention speakers is how they came from immigrant backgrounds (as almost all of us did) and up from poverty to achieve the American dream.
Financial success is wonderful, of course. We all wish to live lives free from want. But the leaders we have in the Democratic Party have heard the call to "Ask not what your country can do for you...ask what you can do for your country!"
In contrast, Mitt Romney has spent his entire life making money any way he could. He has never wanted for anything. He has never gone hungry a day in his life. He has never laid awake at night wondering how he was going to pay the mortgage, worrying his home might be taken away from him. He has never endured the fear and shame of losing his job, of standing in an unemployment line, of trying to reassure his kids it was going to be alright.
Mitt Romney has the soul of a bureaucrat. He has the heart of a gold digger. He is a pathological liar. He cannot understand what it means to be a real, working American. He does not have the interests of our people at heart.
Romney would be a terrible president. He wants the job to serve himself, not to serve our country.
OBAMA/ BIDEN 2012
Houston!
This is the direct result of allowing the inmates to run the asylum!
When you can't beat em... they cheat em....
Just want to make an observation about how the two conventions have looked to me.
The GOP convention was a taunt-fest suffused with sneering personal insults. The whole purpose seemed to be to point out the "otherness" of "them" - no US, just "them".
Reminded me of the cowards who hide in the corner of the playground and try to taunt the "good" kids into doing something to get into trouble. "Hey, sissy, are you scared?"
That's not at all what I'm hearing from the Democrats. I hear "WE are all in this together", "LET'S find the way forward out of this mess".
Makes the choice rather obvious, eh?
To all you Republican sore heads, jealous of the fact that you don't have a speaker like Clinton in your party.
Here is the fact check that matters, and it's ranked true:
"Since 1961 … our private economy has produced 66 million private-sector jobs. So what's the jobs score? Republicans 24 million, Democrats 42 (million)."
right ok well LibsRus who's the ones that gather together and discuss collapsing people that annoy you. I mean I understand you hate 1st amendment, most of your Bolshevic party does but as for it being one sided, you just became a liar LOL@U
skip Nicholson, Oklahoma City
Skip stop with the Sturmabteilung frame of thinking. You libbies see everything that opposes your socialist agenda racist.
Further proof of being a hypocrite and liar and more like a paid blogger to direct the conversation to the sewer. Right up its alley.

Ironically, it was the corporate loan sharks who were pressuring people to take sub-prime loans they couldn't afford. The loan sharks didn't care because they walked away with a commission for making the loans, and then the toxic loans were sliced and diced and bundled into packages that nobody knew what was in them and sold to suckers as "investments," finally bringing the U.S. economy to the brink of total collapse. And nobody went to jail for these crimes.
How many years has each party held the Presidency in that time-frame? I thought it was somewhat even until recently.
Bill in Fairfax -
Thank you for the fact-check update. In all fairness you did point out the inaccuracies of Ryan's speech, so I applaud you for that.
My post did not address the difference in the accuracy levels of the respective conventions. I merely pointed out the glaring difference in content, tone and elocution between the RNC speakers and the DNC speakers.
The DNC speakers were on message, on target and on point for Pres. Obama.
The RNC speakers had a disjointed message - "Love" vs. "Respect over love" - and failed to tie thier personal experiences to Republican policies or Republican candidates.
The RNC may have featured Minority and Women speakers, but they failed to connect Republican policies to the issues facing women and minorities.
Call it sanctimonious if you want, but if you are honest you would have to admit that the DNC has done a significantly better job of presenting the issues, outlining their policies, and clearly articulating reason why independents should vote for President Obama.
Before the GOP get back in power to run Bush's policies through this country's economy AGAIN,
I want to see Bush out there on the campaign trail defending why he ran them the first time.
You don't get a second chance if you can't defend the first one.
Bubba sure put the republicans in perspective last night. One milks His neighbors cow with one tit long enough, He'll follow you home.
I'm glad you brought up the issue of those tax returns, Bev! The ol' Mittster can run, but he cannot hide! This is America!
In the immortal words of Steely Dan:
SHOW US THE MONEY, MITT.
Whats is embarrassing is the Democrats had to amend their own platform. What was embarrassing was watching the vote on the amended platform. Whats was embarrassing is watching those interviewed, shaking their heads, and saying I don't know how, or who took out God and Jerusalem.
What was good, we had front row tickets.
Castro, really-
Maria del Rosario Castro, the mother of San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, said in 2010 that she grew up being told the battle was “glorious,” only to learn the so-called heroes were really “a bunch of drunks and crooks and slaveholding imperialists who conquered land that didn’t belong to them.”
“But as a little girl I got the message -- we were losers,” she told The New York Times Magazine. “I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for.”
I agree though, we should give Calif. back to Mexico....

The probability for precipitation is (at least) 30% up through 9pm. Apparently, you think the entire crowd could magically appear exactly at 10pm. That's the sort of magical thinking that caused the RNC to postpone their convention for an entire day. Let's see: solidly in hurricane season.....Tampa.
Are you simply ignorant or dishonest....or both? Face it: the democratic convention is a spectacular success. Your republican convention was not. Now, you grasp at straws to find something to criticize.
@ White Collar Auto
The "elephant in the room" isn't the well known fact that the Democratic Party applies critical thinking before, during, and after policy actions. To non-thinkers, like yourself, that concensus-building logical process looks a lot like disorganization. I know you prefer the Republican/Teatard model where a "strong-leader", with a "giant cod-piece", that "you would like to drink a beer with", says: "Follow Me! Off The Cliff!", and ya'll do just that. But the reality is, good policy is messy.
So whats the "elephant in the room on THIS MORNING's news cycle?" President Clinton put it pretty well-i'll shorten it up into small words and a sound bite for ya'll.
Why do Republicans need to lie about everything in order to get elected? Reality is, ya'll got some 'splainen to do. We'll wait....

I didn't know you were one of those morons who doesn't know what a Bolshevik is and can't even spell it. Now I know.
thetotas - The entire American economy is in peril, and that's all you can talk about? Whether the Democrats had the word "God" in their platform?
Sheesh, no wonder the GOP screwed things up so bad. Like staring at lint in your navel.
Alan -- On college costs, what is the Republican plan to lower costs? On health care costs, what is the Republican plan to lower the cost?

do you realized that YOUR candidate for president has flipped more time on issues than all of the 2012 London Olympics gymnasts combined?
Just ask Mass residents how they feel cheated by, lied to, and used by Romney.
The only thing that Romney has stayed consistent with since 1994 is his determination not to release his taxes.

A person leaves a building that houses Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's accounting firm in Franklin, Tenn., Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012. The Secret Service says is investigating the reported theft of copies Romney's federal tax records during a break-in at PricewaterhouseCoopers. The Secret Service said it is investigating the reported theft of copies houses Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's federal tax records during a break-in at the office. The company said there was no evidence that any Romney tax files were stolen.
An anonymous letter sent to Romney's accounting firm and political offices in Tennessee and published online sought $1 million in hard-to-trace Internet currency to prevent the disclosure of his tax filings, which have emerged as a key focus during the 2012 presidential race
employees in the GOP office found a small package on Friday with a hand-written address. The package contained a letter and a computer flash drive, she said.
Peter Burr, the chairman of the county's Democratic Party, said he received a version of the letter and a thumb drive on Aug. 27.
An anonymous posting on a file-sharing website said the returns were stolen Aug. 25 from the accounting firm's office. After "all available 1040 tax forms for Romney were copied," the posting said, flash drives containing encrypted copies of his pre-2010 tax records were sent to the firm and to Republican and Democratic party offices.
The group threatened to [divulge the tax files by late September unless it was paid $1 million].

Hummmm, how convenient; wonder how much did "MYTH"pay someone to enter the building ro steal his tax records so he blame President Obama?
I sense another Scooter Libby trial. How much money is "MYTH" paying anonymous to go to jail?
caesar - Which has absolutely nothing to do with any of the political parties in the United States in 2012.
Well, except maybe the Communist Party. But there aren't very many of them.

In other words, the minorities and women were just being used as mannequins put out as window dressing to attract buyers. But the Republican store isn't selling anything people really want to buy. It's 100% advertising. But who knows? Maybe it will work. Back in the 90's people bought Pet Rocks. Maybe slick salesmanship backed with big money will convince people to buy the useless lumps of rock the Repubs are running for president and vice president.
Since no one running for President in the last 30 years has released less than 5 years of tax records, WHY is Mitt so worried about them getting out there?
Just tell the "blackmailer" to go ahead and put them up. Problem solved.
Alan -
So you are going to generously do the math for Paul Ryan on tax reform? My point is still valid, he has specifically identifed $4.3 trillion in tax cuts but failed to specify ANY tax reforms to close the gap.
The same point is valid for the spending cuts.
I can add "magic numbers" or theoretical tax reforms and spending cuts to either plan and make it work, but at face value which plan has a better chance of reducing the deficit and balancing the budget - a plan which includes specified reductions in military spending and specfied revenue increases, or a plan which includes specified spending cuts much less than the specified revenue reductions?
Social Security and Medicare can both be "fixed" with fairly simple changes to benefit rates, funding rates, or eligibility requirements. Neither program requires a massive overhaul, just some bipartisan effort.
A vibrant economy will go a long way towards reducing the cost and influence of means-tested entitlement programs like Welfare and Food Stamps.
caesar - I would guess that you find my avatar offensive.
Hey Ruken! I knew it would only be a matter of time before your new disguise was betrayed by the same hate-filled comments and personal attacks that got your worthless a$$ banned the first time. I actually applaud you for holding it together this long. It must have been tough. But don't worry, Ruken, your secret is safe with me.
caesar - Which has absolutely nothing to do with any of the political parties in the United States in 2012.
I consider the current majority with in the DNC to communist supporters. Hence me calling you liberals, Bolsheviks (not the majority, just commies). As for your avatar why would i find it offensive?
Now houston has been called on the carpet as being a liar and he/she/it knows it. the person thinks the minority of right leaning posters in here have the power to collapse and delete posts when there has been overwhelming proof it is the the little clubhouse gang members that have been known to do it. Caesar Augustus-
two questions for you:
1. if RomneyCare and ObamaCare are not the same, why is Romney running from it like it's a venerial desease?
2. Why did the Republicans came up with the individual mandate on the federal level before anyone knew who Obama was? Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act of 1993 stated:
Title I: Basic Reforms to Expand Access to Health Insurance Coverage and to Ensure Universal Coverage - Subtitle A: Universal Access - Provides access to health insurance coverage under a qualified health plan for every citizen and lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Subtitle F: Universal Coverage - Requires each citizen or lawful permanent resident to be covered under a qualified health plan or equivalent health care program by January 1, 2005. Provides an exception for any individual who is opposed for religious reasons to health plan coverage, including those who rely on healing using spiritual means through prayer alone.
http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/stories/2010/february/23/gop-1993-health-reform-bill.aspx
It's not even that Romney passed RomneyCare; it's that the Republicans came up with the ObamaCare...until President Obama put his name on it that is. Now, the individual mandate is evil and uncostitutional but it wasn't when they came up with it. BUNCH OF LYING HYPOCRITES!
Yep, Slick Willy killed "it", alright. He killed any chances for Hillary and/or the empty chair. How can you have President Knob Jobs and President No Jobs on stage at the same time and not have people cringe? Bad move. DNC....
probably because they both suck and the same reason Obamao isnt running on it.
I'm not for it on either side period. However you completely missed the fact that STATES under the Constitution have the right to regulate things like this, Obamacare would have been ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL if it weren't for the fact that its a TAX which the goverment can levy although the states can opt out. So tell me Bayllie why is Obama not running on it?
'Nuff said
It was nice to hear Clinton talk about trickle down economics and how it WORKS, when talking about the auto bailout!
Because cutting taxes to corporations and the individual income tax rate are totally the same thing.
The states cannot opt out of the mandate, they can opt of of the Medicaid expansion. You sir are severely misinformed.
Feisty Redhead, Could you please stop hanging out with Rachel Madcow? You are becoming more deluded than she is.

Here is JAS1 talking about the weather again. It was silly yesterday, today it's just desperate
yet, even God couldn't stand to listen to the RNC bullsh*t so he gave you Isaac to cut it shorter
btw, I am still waiting for you to admit that you lied in your reply to my posts claiming that I said Michelle Obama was not a DNC speaker. I will keep asking because I know you guys don't want facts and fact checkers to get in your Republican way but I don't apreciate someone putting words in my mouth to spread their propaganda.
@ Mr. Backbone (WCA) --
Get a clue along with a backbone.
I'm not "massaging" any numbers. It would be Governor Liar who is doing that.
I double-sourced those numbers yesterday for Kirk on First Thoughts. Go look it up.
Otherwise, you seem to have nothing else, and I have a day job that is calling me to bill some businesses for my time. And that's the way we REALLY do it in the private sector.
See ya.
Big deal. After cutting 10 to 20 percent out of public employees' salary and benefits and slashing education and medical care budgets all over the place, he OUGHT to show a surplus.
Any idiot could do that. That still doesn't change the unemployment numbers.
Why do you suppose that is?
RealAmericansFirst
and Clinton also pointed out that the Republicans won't let fact checkers get in their way so you can give facts 'til you're blue in the face and all the righites will hear is nah nah nah nah....
hey Sigma Cum Laude, I am misinformed please tell me how Clinton was found not guilty again. But yes and that is a large component of the not so ACA.
Caesar
you are treading dangerously close to admitting your personal involvement,...which would make you a re-reg - or in this case, a PRE reg who has created several Landing Accounts (you ARE aware that it is against the Code to have multiple accounts, right?)
I hope that works out for you; but the context of the collapsing and deleting is greater than your little snippy baiting.
You'd do well to leave it alone. Lest you choose to be banned. Just a friendly suggestion.
And you know he won't before the election because it will be demagogued. Even without specifying the reforms the TPC has made assumptions that are being used as if fact in almost every speech from the Democrats. As was pointed out in the article, in the updated analysis those assumptions can be changed and the probability of a middle class tax increase is no longer true.
Want to put some specificity around that? The way I see it is that we are travelling different paths to the same destination. The Ryan plan will offer premium support, voucher if you want, to buy a basic plan. If you want more, you buy a better plan. The Democrats solution is to reduce benefit rates. This will lead to a reduction in services available. If you want more, you'll buy a supplemental policy from someone like AARP. In both cases there will be a basic system and if you want more you'll have to pay for it. How can it be any other way? As Bill Clinton says it's arithmetic.
My argument is regardless of President or Congress, government costs too much and taxes (revenue) is too low. I think Democrats will do a better job in cutting entitlements and I think Republicans will do a better job on raising revenue. I don't hear any proposals on entitlement reform from the democrats right now but I do like the idea of tax simplification. I also would like to see corporate taxes eliminated and dividends taxed as income. Capital Gains I would start at 50% and reduce them by 5% a year for each year the asset is owned. The floor would be the lowest rate of income tax.
Caesar

now apologize for lying, Ceasar.
you have not answered the question:Why did the Republicans came up with the individual mandate on the federal level before anyone knew who Obama was? I need you to answer why it was constitutional then but not constitutional now.
This just goes to show what a golden fool you are AND it proves that you didn't listen to the speech last night.
So I'll just dismiss you like you tried to dismiss me.
If you aren't going to deal in FACTS, then I have no time to truck with you.
You see, I don't suffer fools, golden or otherwise.
Caesar Augustus-
If you're claiming that ANYONE posting here is a communist, then you don't know what a communist is. You are a moron.
There can be no argument that the Democrats have produced the most successful convention. The Dems have addressed genuine issues, they stated their goals forcefully and articulately, and they have displayed a sense of charisma and strength of character that exists only in the Republicans wildest dreams. The RNC must be having fits at the prospect of a presidential debate between President Obama and a woefully under-equipped Willard Romney
The only chance the GOP has at this point is to bring out another ancient actor suffering from senile dementia to argue incoherently with unoccupied furniture. It would, at least, divert attention from their failed candidate.
For all those who claim the Dems are flip=flopping about God...let me remind you that the constitution guarantees the freedom of and FROM religion. It has no place in politics.
I don't care if you're better off. The country isn't .
The stock market drop was a result of the housing bubble bursting, which was created thanks to Frank and Dodd by forcing banks to lend to unqualified applicants. I know this is one of those please don't ask me about that subjects, but lets face it, buying the votes of poor people by promising them a house did damage that the Dems want to blame on, as usual, anyone else. The student financial aid system will go through this next, as the feds have taken total control of the program and is once again forcing banks to lend to those they shouldn't.
I'm sure gald you're enjoying that cheap medicine that my generation will pay for later. (If it doesn't completely collapse the system before we get a chance to fix it). so much for thinking of the welfare of future Americans. The current and previous generations ran out of money 16 trillion dollars ago, you're welcome.
Considering that the country is broke, everything needs to be cut. Sorry repubs, but that includes defense and dems, that means entitlements. You can't tax your way out of this, cuts in spending have to made.
Who is going to cover my generations pre-existing condition of a 16 trillion dollar debt? But as long as you and yours are taken care of, screw the future right?
Did she also thank him for the rising costs in college education, thanks to the increase in demand created by a program that like the housing fiasco forces banks to lend to unqualified applicants. This federal takeover has also given birth to the "career student". Who manipulates the system to live off the financial aid as long as they can. in some cases, students are taking 5 years to complete a 2 year program, and collecting loans that they will never pay back. But that's the futures problem right?
Despite the claims that GM is rebounding, it's largest buyer is the U.S. Government, thanks to the sweet deals GM promised Obama in exchange for the bailout. Using money that isn't yours to prop up the business of your union thug friends is not progress. I don't think the workers at the dealerships that were shut down as a result of the bailout think anything was saved.
How many times were Americans targeted by the terrorists under Clinton's Presidency? I can think of at least 3, (First WTC attack, Khobar Towers and the USS Cole) all of which presented the need to eliminate bin Laden and the rest of the Taliban, but instead he was chasing the interns.
Oh please do, I love being lectured by the so called greatest generations. The generations that have no problem selling out the future to insure thay have it better now. the generations that have created a debt crisis, an energy crisis, a gas price problem, a drug problem and a useless war to fight it, nuclear issues, healthcare issues, big business cronyism, immigration problems, MORE DEBT!!, failing entiltlement programs, and yes more debt. And when we are handed this polished turd that used to be the greatness of America and asked to fix these problems, we will be trying to do so after being shoved through a failing education system. So thank you for being the first generation in our history to hand over a nation that is worse then when you got it and once again you're welcome.
If anyone thinks that there life is a result of who is in the White House, or could somehow be better if a change was made, is putting way to much of thier life in the hands of someone they have never met, probably never will meet, and who is enjoying the sweet life in a publicly funded palace. The President does not have the power to make anyones life better, only we can do that.
Big Dawg hits it out of the park...period.
Give me a break!!! That's BS. If he was confident in his numbers he would be forthright.

In otherwords, besides seeking his sanity, he's burying his head in the sand, plugging his ears and repeating over and over again: LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA
Let me remind some of you who think repubs will raise more revenue if elected........They took the Norquist pledge after they took the pledge to office. Spitting on their oath of office and putting Norquist above the constitution and the people they represent. Pledge not to raise taxes.....but the Ryan plan makes it clear, he will raise taxes on the middle class to pay for more tax breaks for the rich. So at the expense once more of the middle class......he wants to give the greedy rich like Romney more of taxpayers money. Ryan stops the rich from paying their fair share of taxes.
Vote Obama/Biden and democratic party to have everyone pay their fair share of taxes.
Sandra Fluke was great. Ted Strickland was great. Bill Clinton was the greatest! ON Slate.com the commentary brings out the tue hatred toward President Clinton; and most of them are saying if he was a liar in 1997, why is he being listened to in 2012? You know what, I really don't care if he lied about a BJ in the oval office but told us the truth about the economy in 1992, then completely turned around the economy providing the US with surplus in the budget (albeit, it was a "paper" surplus in that it required sticking to the tax codes created in 1996, which of course didn't happen-can you say Bush Tax cuts?-I knew you could!)
Repubs want to simplify and make people forget the damage they have caused and will cause. So they simply say are you better off then you were 4 years ago?
We all know the economy was crashing and losing over 700,000 jobs per month because of greedy rich. Dems and President Obama stopped it.
We all know repubs on the night Obama took office promised to obstruct every bill that would make President Obama look good in 2012, and they tried, even blocking health care for 911 responders. Record amount of blocking bills to take the economy down.
Repubs are waging social war against women on health care, equal pay, and control over their own bodies, with laws which will turn the clock back over a hundred years.
Repubs are creating voter suppression laws all over the country to prevent the elderly from voting to protect Social Security, Medicare, medicaid, ACA care, the Poast office, etc. Voter suppression laws to stop the young from same day registration to keep them from voting democratic party, voter suppression laws to keep the poor and middle class from voting...
Yes the repubs want you to forget how they want the greedy rich taking all of the rest of your money they didn't get when they crashed the economy.
Repubs don't want you to remember what Bush/Cheney did when they lied nation into war killing thousands of our troops and wounding and killing thousands more.
Repubs want to to forget the debt they caused with the two unfunded wars etc.
So they simply say are you better off?.......Why don't they ask... How good are repubs doing at obstructing recovery from the damage they caused? That is the question you should be asking!
Yes the repubs don't want you to remember how they obstruct you from recovering the economy crash.....
Remember what the repubs have done and what they will do to you if elected again. Destroy the nation even more.
Vote Obama/Biden and Democratic Party, and finish the recovery for the middle class.
Brianb - feel better now?
Obama/Biden 2012
"He pointed out that modern Democratic presidents have created twice the jobs that GOP presidents had;"
How can government create jobs? What does the record show?
The government does not create jobs (except when they hire more people in government). They can only create an environment for the private sector to create jobs. That business environment is set by Congress, through taxes and regulations (either pro or anti growth). The President has little to do with it, except by signing or vetoing legislation.
When we 'do the numbers' based on who controlled Congress over the last 30 years (Through 2010), here are the actual results when it comes to 'creating jobs';
Jobs created when Democrats controlled Congress (12 years) = 8,605,000 net new jobs.
Jobs created when Republicans controlled Congress (10 years) = 23,239,000 net new jobs.
Jobs created when Congress was split (8 years) = 7,502,000 net new jobs.
PS – Over the last 30 years, we needed an average of about 160,000 net new jobs per month to maintain a stable unemployment rate. Anything less increases the (real) unemployment rate, while anything more decreases the (real) unemployment rate.
Sources - Democrats controlled Congress from 1987 – 1994, and from 2007 – 2010. Republicans controlled Congress from 1995 – 2000, and from 2003 – 2006. There was a split Congress from 1980 – 1986 and for 2001 & 2002. The government site to verify average employment by year is;
ftp://ftp.bls.gov/pub/suppl/empsit.ceseeb1.txt
I'll let the facts speak for themselves as to which Party is better at creating jobs.
While I loved Clinton as our President and voted for him, I have to say this: HE WAS NOT IMPEACHED!!!!
If he had been impeached, Gore would have become our President! So no, Clinton was NEVER impeached! He did give a great speech, but HE'S NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!! He had to endorse someone he DOESN'T EVEN LIKE! There is much animosity between the Clintons and Obamas, he is stuck defending a canidate that his own party can't seem to endorse fully!
Do any of you who thinks Obama walks on water because of all the good things he's done ever take into consideration HOW this country is going to pay for all of this? Yes, it's good that students are getting more pelgrants, and it's good that they don't have the added stress of paying the loans back immediately or with high interest rates. BUT, someone has to pay for it, it doesn't just melt away because the POTUS says so!
Let us not forget...............ROMNEY SHOW US YOUR TAXES! Prove to the nation you are not a tax dodging lying tax cheater! Prove to the nation you were not caught with Swiss account hiding your money to avoid paying taxes. Why not...........what?.........>starsailing looking at empty suit filled with straw(Romney)
Oh you can't show them?...because if you show your taxes..... it will be worse than hiding them...Oh ok..that makes sense. That bad huh? oh ...ok...well I can see why......too late to withdraw from race?.....yeah you are right. Maybe you should not have entered the race huh?......what?...you say you are an arrogant greedy rich person and laws don't apply to you.......Well thanks for explaining why you don't show your taxes!
White People Tax in the form of a Tanning Tax

sure if i can site Family Circus for my sources too, now apologize for being a hack as to the other part of your question I do not know but as i said I dont care and don't want any(more) socialized care.
Alan
THAT is the problem. Romney/Ryan are not telling anyone how they will PAY for $4.3 trillion in tax cuts. All we hear is what they "might" consider... what they "could" do... what is "on the table"... but no actual plan.
Given that removing the home owners interest rate deduction... the single largest deduction that the middle class uses... is in the Ryan plan, how do we know he won't go through with that? We are looking at the possibility of Ryan taking our tax deduction... my money... and giving it to people like Romney. And when asked, all we get is: "well he might not do that, but we are not really sure."
I'm supposed to vote for THAT? I'm supposed to vote for someone who "may or may not" redistribute my hard-earned money to the top 1%. You may be "ok" with that level of uncertainty regarding your money, but I am not.
I want specific details on how EXACTLY Ryan will PAY for his "gift" to the 1%.
Alan I must say I agree with your view on corporate taxes and capital gains and would strongly support such an idea. I completely disagree with your analysis on the Ryan budget. A deduction being claimed "on the table". Especially one such as the tax free municipal bonds.
Also the threat of the middle class tax increase is nowhere near over. First off the deductions stilll have not been named and secondly, any tax deduction that has an upward cap, when removed will have a larger impact as a %of taxable income on someone who is in the middle class compared to someone who is wealthy. The removal of the deduction for interest paid on home is one of them. There are many more. That is the reason I do not like eliminating deductions as a form of tax reform, especially when those proposing it are not giving specifics.
After watching President Clinton speak last night, I am left with one question. Was Bil campaigning for a third term or was he endorsing President Obama? If he was campaigning for a third term, I might voe for him, if on the other hand he was endorsing Presidnet Obama, I would sooner vote for Chelsea for mayor of Hope AR.

Operation Casablanca
Investigation of Money Launderers
Stopped When It Reached Too High
"One of the most successful anti-narcotics
operations was Operation Casablanca, a U.S. Customs initiative which targeted,
and caught, dozens of money launderers, including three Mexican banks.
The Mexican government exploded with protests in
middle 1998, protests that were quickly followed by the U.S. Government
disavowing their own agents and tanking the investigation. The senior levels of
both the U.S. and Mexican governments were principally offended because they
were not informed of the long undercover investigation. Among those not
informed were Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Drug Czar retired General
Barry McCaffrey and the Justice Department.
"Which is why, of course, the operation
succeeded.
The Drug War proceeds with record levels of
arrest and incarceration, very few involving the kingpins, investors or money
launderers..."
-- Columnist Jack McNamara, August 24, 2000 in the Big
Bend Sentinel
U.S. STING OF MEXICAN BANKERS FOR
DRUG MONEY LAUNDERING LEADS TO DISPUTE AT U.N. DRUG
SUMMIT
In his remarks on June 8, Zedillo expressed anger over a
three-year U.S. undercover investigation, known as "Operation Casablanca," where
U.S. officials investigated major Mexican banking institutions for laundering
illicit drug profits. The U.S. did not inform Mexican officials of the
investigation or adhere to Mexican law. "We all must respect the sovereignty of
each nation so that no one becomes a judge of others, so that no one feels
entitled to violate other countries' laws for the sake of enforcing its own,"
Zedillo said. Zedillo and Clinton met later in the day to discuss the dispute
(Stanley Meisler and Jonathan Peterson, "Acrimony Is Tinging Statement on Drugs
by U.S. and Mexico," Los Angeles Times (Washington Edition), June 9, 1998, p.

News, June 9, 1998; Nancy Mathis, "U.S., Mexico mend fence over sting," Houston

"Operation Casablanca" led U.S. Customs agents to arrest 22
high-ranking and mid-level bankers from 12 of Mexico's largest banks when they
traveled to the U.S. in mid-May. Some Mexican officials were drawn to the U.S.
because the sting operation was disguised as a banking conference. Others were
drawn to a staged casino grand opening in Nevada. The investigation culminated
in 160 indictments, including 3 Mexican banks and 26 Mexican bankers (Don Van

Mexican officials accused "Operation Casablanca" of

Funding College Education:
So, it's wise to Increase the federal deficit, Again?
Only for those that don't need them. It's called reducing waste and tackling fraud
Students in College/High School are already having to spring for their own expenses; it's called holding jobs while attending school.
For what industries? So it's another free ride and nothing to show for it? Sounnds to me like the Nazis!
I guess since the students need to focus on education only. Right?
Ok. Maybe this is needed.
To actually have "creditworthiness" in the economy as opposed to just "giving away money" is dumb.
Maybe because the wealthy Give a Damn about the future of this Country! Maybe because the wealthy send their children to college to get an education. And maybe because most of this nation seems to be lazy and just cruise through their life, thinking only about themselves and what they can get instead of how can they contribute to society! I'm not rich. My parents are not rich. I have to borrow from my parents.
If you missed, those two brothers from San Antonio, one of whom spoke at the DNC, talikng about how their mother put them through college (Harvard, in fact), they didn't get free education; they paid for their college through the help of their Mother! One of which still has debt!
So don't complain and dodge the facts of the other candidate's words!
@Mguy-478
Ryan is not taking your tax deduction and giving it to people like Romney. What happens now is that you offset the interest on your mortgage loan against your tax liability. In exchange for losing this offset your tax liability will be lower. Of course there will be winners and losers but that is also dependent on the size of your loan.
@Akeem
I agree with this principal. I think deductions should be removed as much as possible and we move to a simpler tax code. This was actually done in the UK over a period of years as they lowered a cap on the amount of interest that could be deducted. I think politically this would sell well over here. Even if they put in a hard cap that would be eroded by inflation that would be a progressive deduction. For example if they capped the interest deduction at 200K or even 100K that would give a disproportional exemption to those mortgages at the lower end of the scale, and those buying larger houses would have less to deduct.
notafraidtoadmit "While I loved Clinton as our President and voted for him, I have to say this: HE WAS NOT IMPEACHED!!!!"
Actually, he WAS Impeached, but that doesn't automatically lead to removal from office. After being Impeached on charges of Perjury (lying under oath, which he did in the Lewinski affair) and Obstruction of Justice, Clinton had to stand trial before the Senate, which required 2/3 vote to convict and remove from office, and since none of the Democrats in the Senate voted against him, he was not convicted.
Clinton not only brought down the house, he brought down the whole Democratic Party. I wonder why they even thought about letting this Impeached Career Criminal speak. Clinton claims that, "No president could have repaired the damage in 4 years". The last 2 years of the Bush Administration had a Democratic controlled Senate and Congress and they did the damage. What a bunch of lies ! I wonder what Hillary did to keep this pathological liar out of prison. Anyone else who lied to a Grand Jury would be in prison to this day. Purjury is a Felony..plain and simple...You can fool some of the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but Democrats get fooled by their own party all of the time. "it is definately not a tax" and "If you have a business, you did not do that, someone else made that happen" 'Let's just pass the law and fix it later" How many times does it take to clue these low information voter in? The Democrats Lie.!!
Wait untill you hear from Tammy Baldwin (D) wis. she is a liar who sounds like a kindergarten teacher and she is a heartless one too.
Confgresswoman Gwen Moore (D) wis, sent her son and some of his black gangster deciple homies to give flat tires to vehicles that were to be used to help Disabled and Elderly people get to the voting places. He and some BGDs got to get criminal convictions for that.
Voter Fraud was not mentioned at either convention and it probably won't. There is one Acorn worker who got convicted for 72 counts of Voter Fraud, and there are many others who are now Convicted Felons now. Acorn was broken up into several smaller criminal organizations now and they are still doing the crimes that a lot of them got convicted of.
In Minnesota there were 393 convicted Felons that voted and Al Franken won by 312 votes.
Voter Fraud is a problem and these Democrats refuse to deal with it.
After the November election the used ballots become Evidense and there will be an investigation into the amount of unqualified voters, and this will be in every state.
I am Independant and Bill Clinton's speech proved that the Democrats are nothing but liars.
How quickly Democrats forget the sins of their leaders. Clinton almost brought the presidency down with his near-impeachment and now you are hailing him as a hero. Obama has broken almost all of his previous promises. Yet you fall for their speeches like sheep being led to slaughter. If you vote him in again, you will reap what you sow.
Samantha-1783461
If Bill Clinton was such a bad president, then why is Mitt Romney latching on to him? Of course, just because Mitt has flipped to a position where he's praising Clinton doesn't mean he won't flop back to attacking Clinton if he finds it politically convenient.
The real problem for the president is almost everybody has mde up their mind and he is preaching to the choir which while gratifying is not productive.
Samantha, hello?...if you think Clinton's dishonest dalliance with Monica Lewinsky was as damaging to this country as Bush's lies about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, ask yourself this: how many people died because of Clinton's lie? Then, how many Americans and Iraqis died because Bush lied us into a trillion dollar war he didn't have the money to pay for?
No president is perfect... they are deeply flawed human beings like all the rest of us. Take your sanctimony elsewhere.
How quickly Republicans forget the lies and sins of their own leaders! Clinton was an honored speaker at the DNC. Where was Dubbya?
Obama is starting to look like Red Foxx, Michelle is starting to look like Aunt Jemima and Joe Biden already looks like the bald Stooge. If they ever make a movie of Obama's presidency, I hope they get Richard Pryer to play Obama and someone like Dan Akroyd to play Biden. There would not be a script unless there was a teleprompter on stage so there would probably be a lot of ad-libbing going on. Mayor Bloomberg could also play Biden. The Men in Black could be the Secret Service. They could name it Men in Black IV. That way, they could paint the repubs up as the aliens.
Have a nice day to all. Hope you enjoyed this off-beat comment! :)
There's an even worse problem for Romney, Toadvine.
The GOP national convention has given Romney essentially zero bounce in the polls. By anyone's honest comparison, the Democratic convention has been far more inspiring and informative...and the President hasn't even spoken yet.
Romney has only two ways to win this election: buy it or lie his way in.
Romney has the additional issue of having to appease his ultra-right-wing base while at the same time trying to appear normal enough to win over moderate voters. Hard to do when he keeps flip-flopping around like a fish out of water.
I have made up my mind. I'm voting for OBAMA!!
Alan
But that is the problem... we don't know any of this. That is all an assumption of what he "might" do or "could" do. How do you know he will not just keep my tax liability the same, and remove the deduction to pay for his tax cut to the 1%?
The bottom line is, he has to PAY for the tax cut from somewhere... and everyone knows that they do not believe in making the 1%, who benefit from it, pay for it. They want someone else to pay for it, because the 1% are "job creators". So, who pays?
Are we supposed to simply "trust" that he will not make us pay for it?
Like I said, give me the details in writing, that tells me exactly WHO will pay for his "gift" to the 1%.
Christy Cream also said, "leaders don't follow polls. Leaders change polls"...
Obamacare couldn't be a better example of a President who stands by his beliefs and hasn't been concerned about polls. The same with Keystone. The same with deportations.
As for God and Ryan's "Our rights come from nature and God and not from government."
Did God and nature really gave us our rights? There's really nothing in the bible that lists them. Did God give us our talents? Not something Ayn Rand would agree with. Can only God take away our guns? Does that mean only God can keep our rights? Did God give everyone rights? Did God give those same rights to those who don't believe in God? Did God give rights to those we execute? Don't governments that are grounded in specific theological beliefs tend to violate inalienable rights? Do other species have 'natural rights', and if so, are our rights to eat them and hunt them (perhaps to extinction) superior? Everyone and everything wants life, liberty and happiness, but don't we choose to give up some of our natural rights to live in a civil society.
Should God and nature really be political and credited with giving all of us rights? Are they really, "God given rights"? It's not politically correct to ask but are we that afraid to ask?
Fiesty Redhead ... you asked for someone to name a republican with an approval rating of over 30%. Hmmm... Romney. In fact, how's Obozo's rating doing? Not so well! Keeps dropping every time I check the polls. Facts hurt, don't they? Btw, how much does NBC pay you anyways? Funny how you're almost always the first liberal moron to start spewing regurgitated crap.
As for Clinton, I wonder how Hillary feels anytime she sees someone with a cigar? Yeah, great speaker to have during this class warfare crap the dems always try to use when Obozo can't stand on his own record. Good job...idiots
Obama's four (4) challenges tonight;
1) Telling the TRUTH
2) Telling the TRUTH
3) Telling the TRUTH
and
4) Telling the TRUTH
My dog and pony show is better than your dog and pony show.
Still a dog and pony show.
I often find myself equating Bill Clinton's successful Presidency to that of the Beatles and the British Invasion. The timing of both were perfect.
Clinton's timing could not have been better, during his term he was able to reap the benefits of a stellar economy where investors were dishing out cash like water to any new company that had a .COM in its name. On the other side, he was able to get out of the spotlight before the bubble burst with tech stocks.
Although being a very likeable President, IMO, he was never really put to task at proving himself as a leader.
"Quit trashing President Obama's accomplishments. He has done more than any other President before him. He has an impressive list of accomplishments:
First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.
First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.
First President to preside over a cut to the credit-rating of the United States
First President to violate the War Powers Act. .
First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico .
First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a third party.
First President to spend a trillion dollars on 'shovel-ready' jobs when there was no such thing as 'shovel-ready' jobs.
First President to abrogate bankruptcy law to turn over control of companies to his union
supporters.
First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through executive fiat.
First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the deportation of illegal
immigrants across the U.S. , including those with criminal convictions.
First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his political appointees.
First President to tell a CEO of a major corporation (Chrysler) to resign.
First President to terminate America 's ability to put a man in space.
First President to cancel the National Day of Prayer and to say that America is no longer a Christian nation.
First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being present.
First President to arbitrarily declare an existing law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.
First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly spoke-out on the reasons for their
rate increases.
First President to tell a major manufacturing company in which state it is allowed to locate a
factory.
First President to file lawsuits against the states he swore an oath to protect (AZ, WI, OH, IN).
First President to withdraw an existing coal permit that had been properly issued years ago.
First President to actively try to bankrupt an American industry (coal).
First President to fire an inspector general of Ameri-Corps for catching one of his friends in a
corruption case.
First President to appoint 45 czars to replace elected officials in his office.
First President to surround himself with radical left wing anarchists.
First President to golf 73 separate times in his first two and a half years in office, 102 to date.
First President to hide his medical, educational and travel records.
First President to win a Nobel Peace Prize for doing NOTHING to earn it.
First President to go on multiple global “apology tours” and concurrent “insult our friends” tours.
First President to go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and Wednesday evening White
House parties for his friends paid for by the taxpayer.
First President to have 22 personal servants (taxpayer funded) for his wife.
First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000 a year at taxpayer expense.
First President to repeat the Holy Quran & tell us the early morning call of the Azan (Islamic call
to worship) is the most beautiful sound on earth.
First President to tell the military men and women that they should pay for their own private
insurance because they “volunteered to go to war and knew the consequences”.
Then he was the First President to tell the members of the military that THEY were UNPATRIOTIC
for balking at the last suggestion.
First President to side with a foreign nation over one of the American 50 states (Mexico vs
Arizona)."
The President needs to discuss promises that he made on the economy. The President needs to explain why the stimulus did not help unemployment as advertised. Just before the stimulus was passed, to help sell it, the Obama administration issued a report that included projections as to what unemployment would be if the stimulus were passed and what unemployment would be like if the bill were not passed. If you take actual unemployment data and compare it to the projections in the report you will find that unemployment has been a little worse than if the stimulus were never passed. The federal government has borrowed roughly 800 billion for the stimulus which apparently did nothing to solve our unemployment problem. I estimate that it will end up costing the tax payers more than 6 trillion dollars before it is all paid back in 150 years. The President needs to fully explain the 6 trillion dollar failure of his spending bill.
The President explained how bad deficit spending was and he promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. To keep his promise the 2012 federal deficit must not exceed 229.27 trillion dollars. I want the President to explain how he is going to keep his promise. I want the Preisdient to explain how his federal government is going to develop a trillion dollar surplus between now and the end of the month in order for him to keep his promise. I want the President to prosent a plan for paying back all of this money that we owe. The tax payers have a right to know how much all of this federal government borrowing is going to end up costing them.
Man there are still a bunch of people that are butt hurt after Clint's speech and looking for anything. It has been a week, get over it already or does your butt still hurt?
I guess people do not understand English, and did not hear Clinton talk about RAISING taxes on the rich. What did Obama try to do before, RAISE TAXES on the rich. How is that for an economic plan. Increase the revenue instead of cutting spending to the bone. I guess you missed that whole "balanced government" part of his argument. Maybe had you not been so busy looking for any potential gaffes you would have heard the words (English) coming out of his mouth. That is ONE of the only reasons I like Obama/Dems is that they want to raise taxes and understand basic math. I would vote for someone else, but do not want Mitt to win since the moron wants to cut taxes even more for the people that do not need them.
(P.S. I told you that Obama had sold out to Israel long ago. How else did he get that Nobel Peace Prize?)
The party that says it's for "Women" has Clinton as their main speaker and shows pictures of Ted Kennedy and talk glowingly of his accomplishments.
I guess their for women as long as they know their place, kind of like they treat the black community.
Feisty is not always the first, in fact when you go to stories that talk about the economy (and how crappy it is) you will not see her comment at all. She is so smart she only comments on the puff pieces for Obama or the hit pieces on Romney. Look at the comment section of a story that talks about bad manufacturing numbers and half of these kool aid drinking campaigners all of a sudden have nothing to say.
Iamnotyou ...........You lied about Minnesota voter fraud. There was none. Yes felons voted because they were not receiving correct info or notification of when they could resume with voting right. You lied, as also Republicans and Democrats crafted a bill TOGETHER that would take care of proper notification to felons. Gov Pawlenty vetoed it because it would keep the confusion going. This angered repubs and dems. All felon voters represented themselves and not someone else. No voter fraud. It did not affect election. 123 of the felons should not have voted. AGAIN>>>NO VOTER FRAUD. WHY DID YOU LIE IS THE QUESTION NOW?
The party of "Yes We Can!" is now the party of "We Need More Time because We Didn't!"
Bill Clinton is awesome, still taking credit for the bills he signed written by Newt Gringrich. LOL
A little video highlighting the democrats Big Tent, tolerant, open minded opinions. And they speak of GOP "hate"? What a joke.
http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/wed-september-5-2012/hope-and-change-2---the-party-of-inclusion
ENJOY!
republicon....party of Newt Gingrich who was cheating on his first wife while trying to impeach President Clinton. Repub party of Skank Newt who waits til his first wife goes into hospital to tell wife he is divorcing her for skank wife #2. Then divorces wife #2 as she gets sick and marries another wife ...number 3 who he was cheating with on wife #2. Repubs..... the party of Newt who cheated on his first two wives and then runs for president with skank #3 and repubs had him on top of the manure pile for a time. Imagine all the impeaching and screaming and whining including the whiney rants on this blog about Clinton...and repubs wanted Skank Newt and first /3rd skank in the White house......This is your republicon party. The party that tells everyone else how to live their life through the republicon god, but is acting godless themselves!
WHY DOES PAUL RYAN DELIBERATELY VOTE TO MAKE THE NATION FAIL?
Not one republicon politician has denied it. There is nothing the repubs can do to defend their plan to take the economy down and dliberately hurt America. YES REPUBS HATE AMERICA THAT MUCH< THEY BLOCK AND VOTE AGAINST BILLS TO MAKE OBAMA A ONE TERM PRESIDENT.
The night President Obama took office Paul Ryan pledged against America economy recovery. Pledged to vote against every bill that would help make Obam look good. Ryan and repubs pledged to vote against the nation just to make Obama a one term president. The whiner weinermobile boy complains that the economy wasn't good enough......WELL DUHHHHH!!!! Repubs block removing tax breaks for companies taking businesses off shore, Repubs block bill to give tax breaks for jobs to come back to America. Repubs even blocked health care for 911 responders, repubs blocked removing subsidies from big oil when execs said they did not need them.........Welll DUHHHH! RYAN.........Point the finger at yourself .....whiner!
I am shocked you liberals aren't crying foul. Especially the Delegates in attendance at the DNC. When they decided to place G-d and Jerusalem as Capital of Israel. This was done at the command of Obama. So when the Nays outweighed the Yeas the first time. I have great hearing and they Nays won. Then they said "Oh wait we have to do that again." Then they called for the vote again. For the second time the Nays out voted the Yeas. Yet since this did not line up with the god of that stadium's line of thinking. Have them vote agains and remind them its ME who is god. So this is the American you want to live in. One where your vote doesn't count. Like saying Voter Id is a burden on the poor. So I ask then how do these poor people get Food Stamps, Assistance, SSI without having proper ID. Last I checked you need ID to get these benefits. Unless Obama changed this through Executive Power. Like last night on the third vote they said that the Yeas had 2/3 vote. What a shame that was a complete lie from the way the audience responded with Boo's. Yes your god Obama has spoken and he is going to FALL! When I heard all those boo's towards the reference of G-D it made me so sick to my stomach to think that there are so many godless people out there. Well one day you will answer for your ignorance.
When Barack Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, he obtained a $1 million earmark for the University of Chicago Hospital--and his wife’s salary as Vice President for Community Affairs jumped from $121,910 to $316,962. Her job: pushing poor, uninsured patients to other hospitals.
GREAT JOB...Michelle, the hypocrite!
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/09/05/Fact-Check-Michelle-Obama-s-False-Fairy-Tale-of-Struggle
If, as the Democrats eagerly pointing out, Mitt Romney enjoyed the privilege of private wealth, the Obamas have enjoyed privilege funded by public money and public life. And until entering the national spotlight, they gave little to charity, contributing instead to a church that preached racial grievance. “[T]ruth matters,” Michelle Obama told the nation last night. That, too, is a lie--because so far, she has evaded it without consequence.
The Romney/Ryan plan immediately adds $5 trillion to the debt, with absolutely NO explanation of how to pay for it.
Non-partisan analysts have stated that the ONLY way they can pay for it, without touching the money of the rich, are to increase taxes on the middle class or take away middle class deductions.
Are you willing to PAY MORE of your hard-earned money so that Romney can pay less taxes?
Feisty: Elizabeth Warren is not "spectacular". She's a joke who claims to lives in a teepee where she gets "invasive sonograms". She believes that CEOs, like ghosts, wander the halls of the capital. Liz, those people are called lobbyists. They lobby both parties. Some are neutral, some are pro GOP and some are pro Dem but they are not CEOs - they are paid by CEOs. God help us if this idiot ever gets elected to the Senate.
(sorry got cut off) Liz thinks CEOs, like ghosts, wander the halls of the House and Senate. No Liz they are lobbyists, paid by CEOs and they approach members of both parties. Yes Liz, there are lobbyists for Democratic causes and lobbyists GOP causes and neutral Lobbyists -- but those ghosts are not CEOs. God help us if she ever gets elected.
Fedwith the Fed...Like we're supposed to believe anything that hating, lying pig Breitbart had to write OR say? Zzzzzz! You want to talk about people in a government position who took a ton of money, look no further then the BILLIONS Rick Scott bilked from Medicare before he became Governor of FL and how his own wife pocketing taxpayer money from that law that required people applying for state assistance to prepay for a drug test and the results have to be read at labs that she owns? If the tests are posative, ol Mrs. Scott profits of course. Nice scam THEY'VE got running as they gut what else by mega millions? Education, fire, police and give MORE tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires and the corporate elites. The teahad way. Reverse Robinhood economics as steal from those who can least afford it, give to the Have-mores, kick those who are already down by cutting their already pathetic wages if they're working at some crappy job or take away child care subsidies or foodstamps and spit in their face.
"starsailing...........You lied about Minnesota voter fraud."
Thanks for the laugh. First you say that there was no voter fraud that benefited Al Franken, and then you admit that lots of felons voted illegally, but then you say 'they didn't know they were voting illegally'.
Maybe if I steal something and then claim 'I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to steal it', I should be excused.
Anyone interested in the Bull S**T Michelle spewed at the DNC in her speech must go the the link posted by FedupwithFed @1.248.
It is an awesome picture of the line of crap the Obamas are feeding us about their "tough" early years. ONE HAS TO READ IT. (I'd give you the link here but my computer refuses to copy)
the problem is Barry, not everyone IS playing by the same rules...people keep taking and taking and taking and no one is contributing! Pretty soon, you run out of other peoples money too!
Breaking News Alert!
On the heels of the earthquake in Costa Rica yesterday, a seismic event of similar magnitude was felt in the Southeastern United States last night. The epicenter appears to have been in the vicinity of Charlotte, NC. It began sometime after 10:30 pm EDT, lasted for approximately 48 minutes, and reached its peak intensity at that point - conincidentally when the President of the United States, Barack Obama, joined former President Bill Clinton on stage at the Democratic National Convention. As in the previous quake, huge buildings shook, and people described the sensation of being lifted off their feet and deafened by a thundering roar. Waves of intense energy were reported from Maine to Florida and from Pennsylvania to Iowa and Illinois and beyond, as people were seized by the need to run out in the streets and knock on their neighbors' doors to make sure they knew what was at stake. But despite the power of last night's event, experts are predicting an event of even greater magnitude tonight at about the same time, and are warning residents to have Kool-Aid and popcorn ready for immediate consumption.
Despite all these indications, similar events that have been taking place across the country building up to this moment have been mistakenly reported by some in the media (commonly known as "political pundits") as a (quote) "enthusiasm gap".
Also, it should be noted that inexplicably, a certain segment of the population (commonly known as "conservatives") were completely oblivious to the entire event. Scientists note, however, that this was to be expected, as this same population tends to be impervious to many other similar occurences, such as the improving economy, the shifting demographics in America, global warming, and the passage of time in general.
Experts also predict that the after-effects of last night's event will last at least the next four years and will eventually be felt all around the globe - possibly even by the heretofore unfeeling conservative population.
This concludes our Breaking News Alert. We now return you to our regular programming. Today's feature is once again that wacky 50's comedy "American Crossroads", starring Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, with a show-stopping cameo by Clint Eastwood as
Dances With WolvesTalks To Empty Chairs. Featuring teen heartthrob Marco Rubio as The New Kid In Town, Tim Pawlenty as The Invisible Man,and introducing Ann Romney as Evita Peron. Directed by Grover Norquist, with script by Charles and David Koch.Stay tuned for further developments!
When I heard the news, my first thought was, did Rush Limpballs finally land there...
Another broken promise on his part! ;o)
Way to go Mr. President. God I Love the Facts, and you laid them out there.
Obama - Biden 2012 Forward with the Truth!!!
JoAnne, terrific post, love the humor!
Wonder what Reince Priebus will whine about today. Yesterday he was all whiney about how unfair it was for democrats to honor Ted Kennedy, especially showing Kennedy shredding Romney in a debate and how dare dems remind GOPers that Mitt used to be pro-choice until he needed to be something else or as Uncle Teddy put it, multiple choice!
Thanks for the laugh, and i agree, that was a speech for the ages.
i've never been a big fan of Pres. Clinton due to his indescretions, but i have to admit that the man has done great things for humans all over the globe since then, and did a great thing to support our President last night.
JoAnne, great post, I enjoy your wonderful take on life. I too also thought as Feidty, hope Rush was down there.
I recently got this from our good friend Northstar and feel you will enjoy as may others.

It's sad that the radical right hopes are for a failure. They are just plain anti American.
The Middle Class are Victim's of "W", and now they ( GOP ) want the Keys back to finish "W's" job, I don't think so !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Patriotic American U.S.A.
So george orwell was correct with the sheep in animal farm. Peat and Repeat were in a boat and Peat fell out who is left?
Feisty Redhead,
(Apologies. This was intended as a response to your opening comment #1)
I'd say talk is cheap, but the talk that lead to the election results of 2008 pushed us beyond $16 Trillion in debt, DESPITE Obama's pledge (remember that one?) to half the deficit? Just for openers. Sadly, I think there are a plethora of shortcomings, comma but why isn't it "the economy, stupid" this time around? The derogatory adjective is NOT directed to you; it's a reference from the later proven to be false mantra of the '92 election, if you were around for that campaign. The mantra won out, despite then president B41 insisting the economy had indeed turned the corner.
And here we are today, well north of 20,000,000 unemployed Americans. Four more years?
Clinton, like all politicians, can talk. But then, all utterances do is, literally, generate CO2, with trace gases.
Fair and Balanced666
Wow Jody,
And Priebus thought his RR Voucher Lie Brigade were the ones "at the epicenter".
President Clinton tells it they way it is: "Here's what really happened....President Obama and the Democrats didn't weaken Medicare, they strengthened it."
Democrats put years on Medicare's life, while RomneyRyan would end it in 2016.
Excellent synopsis, JoAnne!
I hope that earthquake moves everyone to go vote for OBAMA/BIDEN on November 6!
No there is not a more affable, down home, clear spoken politico. Bill Clinton could have kept speaking with or without the newschannels. Often times when I'm listening to a pundit or speaker, internally I think that they should mention this or that. They don't explain or defend policy to my satisfaction. In this case, Bill took his sweet time to talk to the misrepresentations and half truths from the other side. He highlighted how things are getting better. He implored people even those disaffected and disheartened that there is a clear choice between the two parties. And while Ol Bill was far from perfect, and Obama is far from perfect his vision and policies are a thousand fold better than Mitt Romney.
By the way the best place to see the convention is on CSPAN. Usually don't watch MSNBC unless I'm in for a red meat dinner, CNN is better to see how a moderate voter would see it - enjoy Jessica Yelling and Erin Burnett over there. When I feel like listening to the sky is green talk I switch to Fox to get their perspective.
Backhouse,
'President Clinton tells it they way it is: "Here's what really happened....President Obama and the Democrats didn't weaken Medicare, they strengthened it." '
I think that, at the least, Clinton is giving an opinion of an event that has not yet played out. I challenge anyone to review the changes made to both OASDI and HI, since inception, to 'fix' (my term, my opinion) them.
I also think it is disingenuous to trust cost projections, in general, of federal programs. The record is not sterling.
I would appreciate it if any viner who labels this as a lie to please be specific.
Thanks in advance.
F&B666
Hey, Joanne in PA - Tonight's event is predicted to be of lesser magnitude... I heard at least 54,000 democrats were disenfranchised out of their seats to see the boy wonder perform miracles, walk on water, feed the crowd with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes. I guess he just didn't have it in him to split open the clouds and divert the rain that was predicted... even though he made the claim that the oceans would fall if he were elected. Some deity's have it and some don't.
FnB666 you won't get a reply from backhouse. You see these guys get marching orders and like ants march in a straight line repeating their orders. Their programming doesnt allow them to discuss orders, just march a repeat
Good luck
The sixteen trillion debt and Unemployment rate is because of the TeaTards in Congress, make no mistake these Looney Tunes will destroy this Nation !!!!!!!!
Great post, JoAnne! Still giggling over the regular programming section!
Fair and Balanced -
You are correct in that future cost projections are uncertain, therefore I believe we need to determine which approach we are more comfortable with:
The Democratic approach which will preserve Medicare as a fixed-benefit system where the cost uncertainty is borne by the Federal Government...
or the Romney /Ryan approach that introduces new administrative costs and transforms Medicare into a fixed-cost, flexible-benefit system where any cost uncertainty or benefit gap is borne by our future seniors.....
Either approach will have to make adjustments to costs, funding or benefits in order to make their system sustainable. The difference lies in the priorities of the two approaches.
Fair and Balanced - The mantra won out, despite then president B41 insisting the economy had indeed turned the corner.
F&B the same could happen to Obama in this election. The economy has improved, it has been improving for 2 1/2 years, but the mantra from the right could win out. Whatever the case I think it will be a tight race, I'm biased, but believe that Obama will edge out a victory win like 277 - 281 electoral votes.
I am hopeful that once re-elected the GOP will finally meet him 25% of the way. I say 25% of the way because as a liberal I feel Obama as a center right moderate has shifted past the middle point to accomodate the right.
Your point on the debt and deficit is a good one, while growing the economy and putting people back to work is the main issue, the debt is a close second. Further predictions, I think the GOP will win the Senate, they will pick up 7 or 8 seats, House stays in GOP hands after Dems pick up 15 seats. Once they have that control the GOP will have no excuse for not getting things done. I think that they will finally reach across to Obama's outstretched hand instead of slapping it away.
I think compromise can be made in reducing spending, raising revenue and reforming entitlements. I might even be so bold as to say that during the lame duck session portions of Simpson Bowles are voted on.
Eric - :So what's the jobs score? Republicans 24 million, Democrats 42 (million)." That was one of my favorite numbers from Clinton last night. I'm sure the far right will totally ignore it! You can bet Romney/Ryan won't mention it!
Obama/Biden 2012
Thank the TeaTards for our DownGrade, throw all the Tea Bums Out !!!!!!!!!!
Feisty and the rest of you Obama/Clinton lovers, maybe you need to listen to the speech again. I didn't listen to the speech (I was watching something more important, Cowboys Giants game) but I did hear excerts of his speech and he praised the Republicans and Independents more than he did Barry. Face it people Clinton does not like Barry.
I'll take the TeaParty any day over your occupy wall street freaks.
HAHAHA!
I see where my comment #1 has been deleted... good thing I saved a copy!
Have you niwits figured out that you take down your side as well yet? lol
Something told me I was going to need it!
Looks like the RNC has a plant at MSNBC.
What's up with deleting Feisty's opening post and all the follow-up commentary?
I call protest.
And then proceeds to tell everyone here how they heard it wrong.
Typical Teabagger - what's it like trying to live a fact-free life?
Feisty, I think this is a Redherring by you and lefties that control this blog. I have Clara making threats at me. You think im a re-reg then dig deep and it will be egg on the face. I am a long time reader and recent reg nothing more. I read all that happened during that scandal and its on the internet permanently. So have your FR sleuths look into it. Stop with Gestapo style threats and tactics.
Funny that they put a "fact check" on the same page with this article and most of what Mr. Clinton said was not true or fully accurate. But that is what we get from all the candidates-lies and half truths.
More potted plants than we can count...
Great system Newsvine has...
Fiesty!!!!!
Answer this for me!! Why, given all the praise of President Obama on here about the direction that America is headed, why in the world does he feel he needs Bill Clinton? Don't ge me wrong, Bill is a Master politician. As for me, yes I have moved on.......it has been 4 years since W, move on!!
Given what you guys are always talking about I think the President should just walk up to the podium and say "WHAT?"
Also, why all the 1% Hollywood people? Eva Longoria, Natalie Protman?? I thought liberal democrats despised the wealthy 1%?
On this particular occasion, poster #1 should not have been collapsed let alone deleted.
What's up with deleting Feisty's opening post and all the follow-up commentary?
probably the only time I'll agree with you hard lefties, I am against it on both sides. I dont see how it could be deleted but ask those that have an 'in' to have it looked into.
I personally think its a lefty redherring to silence the minority opposition on this board. it would appear differing opinions is highly frowned upon
not likely LOL please. NBC is its own worst enemy, no help from the outside needed.
JoAnne is PA you ROCK!!! "Fairandbalanced" devil, you're thought process is as twisted as your name indicates. You are just a classic example of the rest of the RepubliCANTs who suffer from CRS syndrome: The "Can't Remember $hit" syndrome.
nobody's threatening you, pre-reg
just refamiliarizing you with the rules
good luck
@ First Read -- How can you delete a whole thread?
This is taking the nonsense way too far.
Boy, you've got that right.
Have a good day, your most imperial Pontiflex Maximus.
Well they can be in "awe" all they want...but the fact of the matter is, it's damn hypocritical to the point of being "obscene" to find themselves relying so heavily on a man that up until the time they needed him was treated like a "pariah"! The Democratic party of which i'm one...turned their backs on Clinton and branded Hillary as unwitting accomplice to his so called "moral repugnance" to the extent she had not a chance in hell of being elected herself..yet look who they have run to to shore themselves up! Oh how soon they forget!
It's truly a disgusting display of two faced politics and personally it makes me more suspect of the entire crowd than i already was! Looking around at what we have on both sides of the fence it seems to me that we would all be better off if we just excercised our rights not to vote! Just flat out refuse to be compliant with any of their hypocracy on either side and see what washes out on the other end!

Not to denigrate your post or position, but please tell me exactly where the "Federal Government" gets its funds if not out of our pocket?
I guess the GOP just isn't as proud of Bush's record.
Since he hasn't shown up since the day
they ran him outhe left office.RealAmericansFirst
This seems to be a new problem I thought only the moderators could delete posts, and that they deleted posts only for bad language, ethnic slurs, threats, etc. I'm wondering if the web site has been hacked.
You can be in love with Clinton, but his ship has sailed. He isn't running. Face the facts that O is not Clinton, nowhere near, and O is the one running for reelection and the candidate facing his Own record. Like Rice's spectacular GOP speech, Clinton's words won't move the needle much, as he was describing himself as President, not Obama. Like all politicians, too many ghosts in closets to be taken at full belief value, this includes Warren, Clinton, Obama and Romney.
Hey Fiest, Just as popular as ever!! You still make me laugh. I hate the collapsing crap myself. The whole point is to compare and contrast. Debate!!!! If it becomes vulagar or threatening then okay. Otherwise, it is an opposing view!! Which is why we have parties and elections!!!
BUT until BOTH sides figure out how to get out of our current polarization politics it will not matter whom the President is!!!!
Seriously? Is that asbestos you can do?
Floyd, there is certainly nothing more important than seeing a bunch of millionaires bang heads and shoulders while trying to move a little ball a few yards down field. Grow up. And let's raise the taxes on those millionaires who play in taxpayer funded mega-stadiums while their billionaire owners watch from their luxury skyboxes.
I see the sheeple are all wetting their collective pants/panties for Obama again.......listen people ALL politicians lie repeat all politicians LIE so now it is up to the best liar and you all see it in Obama congrats...I wonder how many of you are better off today that four years ago well I am because I am not a sheep.....use your brain and think it may produce a big headache at first from non usage but keep doing it and if all you get is a headache and nothing else then kill yourself because stupid people always die stupidly!!!!!
'Nuff said.
Feisty -- Is it Newsvine or First Read that is moderating this board? This deletion crap is BS!!!
Wheres that teaching certificate you were speaking of?

The Democrats culture of death. 50 million children dead through abortion.
Liberals & Democrats had God, the Bible, Ten Commandments, Prayer removed from public Schools.
The guy in the White House argued in the Illinois Senate to allow a child born due to a botched abortion die in a lined closet.
Yeah, keep voting Democrat!
TXHorseman
And THAT is your problem.
Instead of actually listening to what democrats have to say, you buy into a typical stereotype that is completely false.
I could explain to you WHY democrats do not hate the wealthy, and how the democrat plan actually helps the wealthy... but we both know the you will not listen. You will just continue to repeat a stereotypical line, and ignore any rational person that tries to tell you the truth.
Yes I do!!
Fair and Balanced666
our government is divided into 3 parts, with each part having equal piece of the checks and balances pie. Now we all know what President Obama have done, and have tried to do but was unable due to Congress' actions or inactions.
So to be fair, please provide examples of what the Republicans have done or tried to do to help our economy.
I know couple of things:
1. Rush Limbaugh wants America to fail to make the President look bad
2. Mitch McConnell said his (and the Republican) #1 priority is to make Pres. Obama 1-term president - not the economy, not the jobs, not the debt -but preventing President Obama's reelection
3. Without giving Obama a year, 6-months, 1 week, even 24h to get his hands dirty, the prominent Republicans (including Paul Ryan) had their little pow-wow on the day of Obama's inauguration to come up with a plan to make him a 1-termer
4. Republicans have locked bills like: S. 3412; A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide tax relief to middle-class families. Or S. 3364 (Bring Jobs Home Act ) A bill to provide an incentive for businesses to bring jobs back to America. Or S. 3816 (Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act ) A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to create American jobs and to prevent the offshoring of such jobs overseas.
so please, provide some ligit examples of what the Republicans HAVE done to help our economy
Anna Molly
This is taking the nonsense way too far.
He's more of a gluteus maximus.
Feisty -- Who do we complain to? This is getting out of hand.
I wish Bill Clinton was running... I'd vote for him.
Obama has done nothing to indicate he has any desire to compromise. Sad really. Clinton gave such an amazing speech last night... exactly the kind of speech that I haven't heard from Obama. One that could have united the nation had it come from the president himself. We'll see if he changes my opinion tonight.
The key difference I see between the two: When Clinton doesn't agree with you, he brings facts to the table and pulls you in. When Obama doesn't agree with you he looks at you with disdain and then ignores your opinion and does whatever the hell he wants to. And he wonders why the country is so divided. He only cares about one side of it.
Before anyone blasts me, I think the same thing about Romney/Ryan. I wish Clinton were running.
Harley Chic
You know all those welfare recipients you hate?
Well guess what, sweetheart... those were ALL children who were not aborted. How does it feel to PAY for all those children you saved? Does it make you feel good, knowing that your hard-earned money is going to a welfare recipient who was not aborted? Are you willing to pay more into welfare, for all the future children you want to "save"?
Joining Newsvine on 9.21.09 is now considered to being a recent reg? lmao!

Hey, got any good pics - Eastwooding?
DCIA,
At this point I would say BOTH!
Floyd, I heard the ENTIRE speech given so brilliantly by President Clinton. There was plenty of praise for Democrats and Obama. He praised Republicans where it was due. He also showed us the bald faced lies being told by Romney/Ryan and he pointed out how the extremists have really screwed up the Republican party.
OH MY GOD! Hell must have frozen over and I'll watch the news to see if pigs are flying...
It seems that poor Feisty is coming unhinged, just as badly as the Democratic Party and their convention in North Carolina. When you boo and jeer the inclusion of God in your platform, then lie and say that "absolutely" it was a 2/3 vote, and when your own President can't even fill up the local stadium, you've got bigger problems than even the Media can help cover up.
Oh, and by the way. There's ZERO PERCENT chance of rain tonight in Charlotte, NC for the DNC Convention. They can still have Obama's speech in the half empty Stadium.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
Democrats are SO gullible! You fall for all the rhetoric that Obama and Clinton give because they are good speech makers. But look behind the speeches at their personal agendas. Look over the past four years at how Obama's personal agenda has benefited HIM and others like Clinton while the rest of the country fell apart. THINK FOR YOURSELVES PEOPLE! Obama gave great speeches four years ago. Where are the results of what he promised? Are the troops home like he promised? Is life better like he promised? And now he wants four more years to do what he said he would do in the previous four. Clinton screwed up his presidency with his almost-impeachment and yet the country falls for his speeches and endorsement of a man (Obama) who did not fulfill his promises four years ago. With people as gullible as most of these on this mssg board it is no wonder the country is messed up! I also think that given the mentality and disgusting comments made by a lot on this mssg board, it shows the intelligence level of many on here which just proves that low intelligence will fall for Obama's rhetoric just like they did four years ago.
Looks like you fell off your horse and bumped your head. Why do Republicans feel they need to pretend that those 8 disastrous years of Bush/Cheney never existed?
It's not our side that's filled with hate, buddy boy.
mguy,
As is typical of you. You take one point of what I said and the questions I asked and then try to call me out! Actors are the rich elite. They believe I should listen because they are popular and wealthy. The don't create anyting, so I do not care what they have to say. Republican or Democrat. I certainly tend toward the conservative, but am neither Republican nor Democrat. So take your own stereotypes based upon a few words here and there and leave me alone.
Kaybe, Your answers are usually much more thought out than that. I am surprised. I think these types of people will actually work against Obama. Unlike many on here, I am actually trying to ask a few questions.
yeah i tried to join but never went through with the email part confiming registration. I had to change the moniker from Caesar Augustus to Caesar Augustus- (said the name was already taken). You know the confimation emails are only valid so long, which i didnt know. So yeah user error on my part but i just started posting when i though i registered in full. Nice try dumb azz. But not a pre reg so fail, not a re reg you fail. Tell me none of you are in law enforcement. its still the same account under the same email address, same IP. now einstein tell me how i can re-reg/pre-reg under those conditions. If its possible then blame crappy code writers
so which re-reg am i.
I love Slick Willy. I don't care about his indiscretions. He's a down-home country boy that has his act together! The part of his speach that should scare the bejesus out of everyone, is that idea that the Republicans' only objective was to remove Obama from office; and this came out two years ago. So there was never any intention by the right wingers to work with Democrates to solve the problems of our nation. Instead they did whatever they could to make them worse. In all of my 62 years, I have never seen such hatred that has been displayed by the Republicans against fellow citizens of this country. Talk about bad role models in society. They all need their pee pees slapped and slapped hard...
Obama/Biden 2012 - to save our nation...

I would reference the article (with URL) and mention specifically that comment #1.1 has been deleted and should not have been.
It's a long story about how their software 'works'; but suffice it to say, many would consider this nonsense 'buggy' or at the minimum an unintended consequence of malfeasance.
My OH My!
Little Caesar sure has an answer for everything & the truth in nothing! ;o)
LOVE THIS! "Quit trashing President Obama's accomplishments. He has done more than any other President before him. He has an impressive list of accomplishments:

Then he was the First President to tell the members of the military that THEY were UNPATRIOTIC for balking at the last suggestion.
First President to side with a foreign nation over one of the American 50 states (Mexico vs Arizona).
I guess the folks ther forgot the obama is behind in the polls... Most of us outside that arena still remember the good ole days and we see them getting further and further away with the current President and feel very stronger things will get worse soon. Finding a job is no easier today than it was 4 years ago. Nearly Half of the 1.2 million auto workers in 2008 are no longer employed. Thanks for saving them....lol . Those of us outside the big hall last night are still struggling, still wondering whensomething will happen, still hoping the words we heard 4 years ago weren't just hot air. But yet nothing.I have voted in every election since high school in 1971. Been through some pretty bad times and good ones with both Republican and Democratic Presidents. I recall what caused the ups and the downs in our economy, but for the rest of you to see and understand who is really responsible you have to shead viewing things as a republican or a democrat. Once you do that you will finally see a liitle more of the truth. Ford motor company proved that restructuring was all that was needed not a government take over at taxpayer expense for 50 years.
I guess what I am getting at is I don't buy into the hype of the conventions nor do I put much faith in the commercials out. i dig deeper toget a true feel for who these people are and what theyreally are capable of. I made a mistake in 2008. I won't in 2012.
Myguy-478 ...Steve Jobs and many other successful people were ADOPTED...Guess that blows your lies of ALL of them being on welfare right out the water.
The only one with any clear vision is Independent Thinking Atheist. He is the only one on this vine who gets it -- ALL politicians are crooks and the only thing they are concerned about is how they can get back to Washington, DC and live on the taxpayer's dime.
You may not have anything you want to vote for, but you should be able to find something to vote against. Make your vote count!
Kaybe,
You make a great point though. It should not be "our side" or my side. Which is why I made the comment above and why we don't move forward. It is supposed to be "we the people" of the United States of America. Somwhere we have forgotten that on "both sides."
Look at that!
Samantha finally got the two week old right wing nut chain e-mail & is now spreading around like it's her own work!
How about some valid sources to back up your bull@!$%#?
Hint: Your in-box doesn't count!
Sammy, sorry babe, you are soooo yesterday! lol
Pres. Bill Clinton exposed so many lies of Romney and Ryan and debunked them that after the speech, Romney decided to flip flop and vote for President Obama /Biden and Team Democratic party too!
Vote President Obama/Biden and Democratic party 2012
Excellent Jo Ann, comparing a natural disaster that killed innocent people to the DNC. Downright perfect comparison.
Pres. Bill Clinton speech was so good last night, Romney was jumping up and cheering Bill!
nah mguy, hardley chic is a good republican christian.... after those unwanted zygotes become babies, she'll let nature take it's course and they can starve or beg
What? That is just out of line! You know who else is a child that wasn't aborted? You, me, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Obama, Romney, and I don't know, EVERY @!$%#ING PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!!! Retards are everywhere...
TXHorseman
Actors don't create jobs? Really?
So all those TV shows and movies just magically appear, with no one working behind the scenes? When the actor Jon Favreau decided to make Iron Man, no jobs were created, right? No one was hired to build sets, create CGI, costumes, make-up, sound mixing, grips, film editors, camera men, producers, product placement, the toy makers that created action figures, the video game programers that created the game counterpart, the advertising executives that teamed up with fast food restaurants to co-promote the movie, the TV stations selling commercial time to promote it, the website creators and owners selling ad space on their site to promote it, and all the jobs that were created from the resulting sequels.
Yup, that "rich elite" actor did not create any jobs. Not one... except the hundreds I just mentioned and the hundreds I missed.
You know that actor you love, Clint Eastwood? When he directs a movie, do you think him and the actors are the only ones involved? You don't realize their are hundreds of people behind the scenes, working their job?
Jesus Christ, go back to your horses, hillbilly.
Samantha --
There is SO much that is false in your post that it isn't even worth responding to.
But tell me, Samantha, dear -- what state does YOUR Social Security number come from?
The State of Confusion?
LOL, Feisty and truth now that is funny. Like i said burden of proof is on you pal. Good luck
@NBC, or First Read: You vying with Fox now? If you are you need to tell us. Seining your own toilet bowls for news presentations will do until you get caught in the flushes. If I'm wrong, and It's your program, I know several kids who can do wonders with rubber bands.
Harley Chic
I never said "all of them being on welfare".
LEARN TO READ.
I said every welfare recipient was a child who was not aborted. That means every person YOU PAY FOR, through welfare, was a baby "saved" from abortion.
This is not a difficult concept. Why don't you spend less time trying to act tough on your harley, and more time in school... you obviously need the education.
It's going to be hilarious when the Romney campaign starts airing ads showing video of Clinton PRAISING Romney's business experience and offering Ryan ENCOURAGEMENT and SUPPORT for his budget initiatives.
That will be followed by the video of Clinton CONDEMNING Obama for calling him a RACIST and saying that Obama had PLANNED IT ALL ALONG!!
Bill Clinton will be an ASSET for the Romney campaign!!
Did you graduate from High School, Samantha?
All the troops are out of Iraq, and 33,000 have left Afghanistan. There is a timeline for bringing the rest of them home.
Or are you trying to suggest that John McCain would have brought them home sooner, when he argued AGAINST a timeline and suggested on one occasion that he foresaw American troops remaining in Iraq for up to a hundred years.
Do you even know who John McCain is?
Could you locate Iraq on a map?
And do you really think that Mitt Romney will bring them home sooner?
Do you even care?
Are you saying that you would vote against a guy for not bringing the troops home fast enough, but you would vote for the candidate who has chosen 17 members of the administration that sent them into war in the first place as HIS national security advisers?
Do you have any idea what you're saying?
As prescribed in the Constitutional ammendments: "...make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." But, you knew that.
mguy,
Because I like and have horses I am somehow intellectually inferior to you!! What a joke!!
No, production companies that produce movies create jobs and hire actors and actresses, and the hundreds of people behind the sceens. Most actors are contracted employees. They can be hired and fired. Now if the actor actually owns a production company, then yes your comments would then be correct.
Who said I like Clint Eastwood?? Because, I never said that, but at least he has held a public office and does know a bit about what he says as opposed to some others actors. Did I say that or is it just a stereotypical thought? Calling me names doesn't bother me. People like you will always see yourselves as intellecutally superior. I'll be a hillbilly any day if it keeps me from being like you!!
What caused the Great recession?
I suggest it was simply the bursting of the housing bubble.
Let's assume for a minute that no conditions existed to encourage the housing bubble to exist in the last couple of decades. Would we have had a Great Recession? Probably not. We would likely have seen some form of a natural recession somewhere in that decade which is normal. But no doubt it would not have been as deep as it is.
I imagine most of you can agree with that to some degree.
So without getting into who caused the housing bubble, because that is really a complex and pointless debate, let's talk about the solutions put into place. Thanks to Dodd-Frank (Democrats) we have a new set of regulations that make it impossible for many people to get bank loans. At face value this needed to be done but did it need to be so punitive? As it seems with all pendulum swings we go too far.
I own a couple of rental properties as an example. Houses that cost $100K and have mortgages less than $400 a month. With taxes and insurance it comes up to around $570 to own them. This is a modest sum of money when compared to the shrinking average household income of $50.1K a year. Perhaps better stated it is very affordable. I rent these houses for $1100+ a month and have no shortage of individuals who want to live in these nice houses. These people never miss the higher rent payment but they cannot get a mortgage from a bank. That make sense to you? These are hard working, middle class people and they are always on time but the banks will not loan. You can thank Dodd-Frank and Obama for signing it into law. For those about to lash out that I should be ashamed for charging so much rent, remember, I get to do all the maintenance on these homes and take all the risk - if you can't understand that, I feel sorry for you..
A great idea to regulate the banks has punished the middle class. As a top 5% earner, the Democrats have created a rental market that lines my pockets and keeps property values low further hurting Americans who would like to refinance to a lower rate or move to a better house. They put ya'll back in chains, right Joe?
Add to those restrictive policies the constant threats to increase taxes and take away deductions for folks earning enough money to actually pay federal taxes and you have a stagnant economy. The housing market is full of foreclosures, HUDS, and upside down homeowners just trying to make it all work out. I'd like to buy more of them but the banks are such a pain in the ass why bother.
So here we sit with both sides extolling their virtues, stretching truths about the other party, trying to divide the nation into a slight majority their way. Clearly Obama has no new plan for solving the problem. He hitched his wagon to Banks are Evil, so why would they help him?
Funny thing is back in 2008 the mass layoffs started with Bank employees. It was only a matter of time until all sectors of the economy followed suit. If it started with the banks then it must get fixed with the banks. Money (capital) must flow through the economy to expose itself to federal taxation.
I took a chance and put alot of my savings into real estate this year. I have never been put through the ringer by a bank in my whole life like with these two houses. Thanks again Dodd-Frank. You really showed 'em.
I want to be clear, predatory lending practices are not acceptable. And neither is mandating that banks make loans to people who cannot afford to pay them back. You want cause and effect? There it is.
So Mr. President I will be watching tonight and I know you will take credit for regulating banks as one of your accomplishments but just know this, many Americans have figured out what your regulations have done to their house values, mortgage capabilities, and living status (from home owner to renter).
Samantha - when you post a list of lies that has already been debunked hundreds of times it just makes you look silly, ya know?
Obama/Biden 2012
TXHorseman
You referred to the "rich elite" actors... NOT "most actors".
The "rich elite" usually go on to produce movies and television shows... thus CREATING JOBS. "Most actors" struggle to pay their mortgage, but you said "rich elite". And don't even get me started on shows created for, and around, a specific actor, and all the resulting jobs associated with that.
The point: "Rich elite" actors will create more jobs than you ever will. They actually HELP society... whereas you, well, let's just say there is no comparison.
David Walker,
I swear everytime you wrote republican you meant to write democrat.
All you fellow Democrats who are slapping each other on the back over Clinton's performance need to ask yourselves why they found it necessary and prudent to drag a man out of the mothballs they buried him in in order to substatiate their policies. Why is it they could not have come up with a more current speaker? One who the entire party disowned in the blink of an eye after 8 years. Yet all is forgotten now?
Seems to me if they felt the need to dig so deep into their own refuse pile of possibilities it doesn't speak well at all of their own confidence in their present condition! But all of you are jumping up and down like you just witnessed the second coming of the mesiah...one who is suddenly ressurected 14 years after his own party took large part in his cruxificition! I can't fathom your responses...i really can't. Especially after you yourselves denounced Hillary for her husbands transgressions to the point you cost her an election and she being the better choice by a long shot! So when you finally wear yourselves out with your premature victory dancing..how about take a look at the hypocracy of this and wonder to yourself how any rational soul can ever take what just happened seriously! I'm ashamed of you all!!
Since the Democrats booed God and Israel, I got out from being a lifelong Democrat just in time and became Unaffiliated.

#2.18 - "The sixteen trillion debt and Unemployment rate is because of the TeaTards in Congress, make no mistake these Looney Tunes will destroy this Nation !!!!!!!!"
If I missed anyone else questioning you, I apologize. If not, with what do you back up your position? I'll assume you don't mean the entire $16+ Trillion debt, but only the portion that was added during this administration, or the portion added since the end of the Clinton administration, since you, ahem, appear to support all things Denocratic Party. By all means, if my assessment of your preferred political ideology is incorrect, please let me know.
Thanks.

mguy,
OMG you are just mencing words like a child. So then, the richest 1% of the country by your own comments help society by creating jobs, so leave them alone. As for me, I would guess that I contribute at the very least as much as you! So you, well lets just say, there is no comparison.
TX
I never argued that. Yes, SOME of them do. Again, you are following the typical stereotype that Fox News is pushing. Educate yourself.
No "job creator" has ever hired anyone based on ONLY the tax code. They hire based on demand for the job. That is called supply and demand.
The issue is that YOU and YOUR PARTY want to take money from the middle class and give it to the 1%. You want to redistribute UP and pray for that money to trickle back down. Here is the problem: All that money YOU want to take from the middle class, that is money that will not be spent in a business. So you have decreased the business owners taxes, but also reduced the revenue going into his business. So now he pays less taxes, and makes less income from his business, because you have taken the money his customers would have spent. And if his business has less customers, there is no demand to hire more employees... in fact, there is incentive to lay off more employees. So what the f*** was accomplished with that plan? You gave a hand-out to the wealthy and hurt business revenue in the process. Good job.
Responses to TNSEVOL, Yellowdog - Mark D and JMagnum,
I'd have replied sooner, but had to issue a meeting report . . . .
My post: #2.15 - "Backhouse,
'President Clinton tells it they way it is: "Here's what really happened....President Obama and the Democrats didn't weaken Medicare, they strengthened it." '
I think that, at the least, Clinton is giving an opinion of an event that has not yet played out.
Thanks in advance."
TNSEVOL
#2.20 - 'Fair and Balanced - You are correct in that future cost projections are uncertain, therefore I believe we need to determine which approach we are more comfortable with:
The Democratic approach which will preserve Medicare as a fixed-benefit system where the cost uncertainty is borne by the Federal Government...or the Romney /Ryan approach that introduces new administrative costs and transforms Medicare into a fixed-cost, flexible-benefit system where any cost uncertainty or benefit gap is borne by our future seniors.....
Either approach will have to make adjustments to costs, funding or benefits in order to make their system sustainable. The difference lies in the priorities of the two approaches.'
Thanks for the civility. I am not fully aware of the fixed-benefit/fixed-cost characteristics. Not challenging it, just stating my incomplete depth of knowledge. You make a good point about the uncertainty of both, and the suggestion that we individually need to determine which approach is more comfortable is a very good way to phrase the decisionmaking process. The only matter which I would have raised was done by Xdm9mm (#2.40): the cost uncertainty of the Democratic approach would be borne by taxpayers in the final analysis.

#2.21 - ' "Fair and Balanced - The mantra won out, despite then president B41 insisting the economy had indeed turned the corner."
I might even be so bold as to say that during the lame duck session portions of Simpson Bowles are voted on.'
Again, thanks for the civility. I agree that the race appears to be tight. I would be surprised if the winner will be able to don the 'mandate' cloak, regardless of the party. Any willingness for Obama to shift has escaped me, unlike Clinton's shift in 1995. Perhaps it is because Obama still had a Democratic senate in 2011. I agree that there is more potential for compromise (perhaps, shall we say, kicking and screaming) between the two parties if the legislative branch turns red and the executive remains blue. The Senate races could turn out interesting to watch.

#2.35 - 'JoAnne is PA you ROCK!!! "Fairandbalanced" devil, you're thought process is as twisted as your name indicates. You are just a classic example of the rest of the RepubliCANTs who suffer from CRS syndrome: The "Can't Remember $hit" syndrome.'
Presumably your post is in response to my #2.15. Exactly what is in that post that I failed to remember? If you are post responding to another of my posts, which is it? If it is your general opinion on my inability to remember, is there a particular event that triggered your response? By the way, I chose the last three characters of my screen name as a joke. Given the numerous shall we say, "negative" views expressed on all things FoxNews-centric, my screenname is intended to be an in good fund mote in MSNBC's eye, a nod and note of respect to Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Not very complicated.
Thanks, and have a nice day.

All of you taking your facts straight from FOX News without doing any research:
You do realize FOX News is Rupert Murdoch, right?
Why would you accept anything Rupert Murdoch says as the gospel truth without ever checking it out for yourself?
You don't think he has a vested interest in making sure the "right" President wins this election?
He couldn't even own American broadcast companies until he renounced his Australian citizenship.
BAIN BEING INVESTIGATED ON TAXES!
From Forbes.com 9/1/12
The New York Times is reporting that Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, is among a number of firms being investigated by New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, for failing to pay taxes.
The New York AG's Taxpayer Protection Bureau has issued subpoenas to at least twelve financial firms, including Bain, looking into whether the companies converted management fees (taxed as ordinary income) paid by investors into fund investments which are taxed at a dramatically lower rate.
The controversial tax avoidance scheme came to light last month when Bain Capital internal financial information was published online by Gawker.com , however the investigation had reportedly commenced prior to the publication and is not believed to be tied to the document dump.
According to the Times
While Governor Romney has not been active at Bain Capital for quite some time, he does continue to receive profits from the company and held investments in some of the funds that utilized the tax avoidance strategy.
Feisty, The best post you ever had.
Willard Mitt-Wit and Lying Ryan. No Way and No How can these two lying buffoons win anything.
Backhouse,
It never ceases to amaze me. The "free" money hemorhage in this country must stop.
Headline: Our national debt is now a whopping $16 Trillion. No more Pell grants. let students borrow the money @ low interest (gov.'t backed is ok) and pay it back. This will also encourage students to commit to their education since they have responsability for loan repayment.
rwn69,
Respectfully, a correction: MORE THAN $16 Trillion. We are officially at the point where we can some day wish for a national debt that is 'only' $16 Trillion.
Unless I missed it, I don't think I read where that long number has yet been mentioned at the DNC convention.
"Ryan wears a Greek Suit"
Ryan Vouchcare to Cleanse American Seniors !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be VP Ryan did dog tricks for Romney !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where in the world do you people get these "facts" off a cereal box?
Feisty, Rachel Madcow just called you. She wants all her long winded political diatribes back.
Presidents do not create jobs (except when they hire more people in government, like Obama has). They can only create an environment for the private sector to create jobs. That business environment is set by Congress, through taxes and regulations (either pro or anti growth). The President has little to do with it, except by signing or vetoing legislation.
When we 'do the numbers' based on who controlled Congress over the last 30 years (Through 2010), here are the actual results when it comes to 'creating jobs';
The FACTS speak for them self as to which party creates more jobs
So Obama is great because he's forced the next 3 generations into paying for college for a bunch of people that will end up working at menial jobs anyway? Rather it was the bait and switch going on. Instead of them showing up in the unemployment statistics he spent your children's money having some professor babysit them.
Education is important! Educating illegal aliens and people that will never use it is a waste of resources!
Look at the level of education. Since the liberals took over education in the 70's America has fallen from first to 19th in the world.
Facts you can not deny.
Fiesty's first post was deleted to try and cover the fact that she is a paid plant of NBC.
I wonder why we even bother to have an election you all have it all figured out.
Yeah handouts handouts handouts the party of free loaders ....pay for your own darn college I did with no grants so grow up and shut up.......and repeat NO MORE HANDOUTS!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Jennifer Psaki AKA FEISTY REDHEAD (obumbo's press secretary)...Why don't you post under your real name and stop lying to the American public that just think you are an average citizen.
The vast majority believe Mitt has a better plan to improve the economy and this is what will drive the election. You may like a candidate but when it's about your money and your future you WILL vote for the best man.
Romney/Ryan 2012
Do you know how much a pell grant is? It is only a few thousand dollars. If you think that is enough too pay for college without other sources of money, then you don't deserve college because you can't do simple math...
Idependent...
So you were angry with repubs when they blocked the bill that would end oil subsidies for the oil companies when oil execs testified before congress they didn't need them...Right?
So you were angry at repubs on 7-19-12 when repubs blocked the taking away of tax breaks for Companies like Bain that take American jobs overseas for greedy profit right?
So you are angry at Ryan plan that gives more tax breaks to the rich and makes the middle class and poor pay higher taxes right?
So you are angry that Ryan plan would eliminate capital gains tax on the rich right..?
Then vote Obama/Biden 2012!
Oh GOD, what a cluster eff. Why, for a while there, I thought that the convention was going to degenerate into a fist-fight.
And Bill Clinton as pimp for Obama? And, Suddenly This Summer, Jerusalem is Israel's capital?
This cannot get any funnier. Or.....perhaps it can. We'll all be watching tonights hilariously funny second act.

You Dems are a bunch of people who can dish it out but can't take it. You guys were all over the boards bashing the Republicans during their convention, (which by the way was hardly even covered by MSN while the Democratic Convention is practically a moment by moment broadcast). But now that people are making comments about your convention you are a bunch of whiners. You stand up for Clinton who was almost impeached and who embarrassed the presidency, then turn around and bash Bush who was never brought up on impeachment charges. What I have figured out is that most of you were still in diapers when all of this happened with Clinton so you do not remember the embarrassment he brought this country. Now you hail him as a hero. Amazing. In a nation that was founded on Christian principals and a current president who says he is a Christian, I found it most interesting that God was denied three times toward the end of the speeches. Do I hear a rooster crowing?
Maybe that's why you obviously ended up with a second-rate education. That's all you could afford at the time - we understand.
But it's never too late to learn.
Vyor,
Pell grants are a valuable part of many middle and lower class students financial plan for going to college. For instance, you take a $3000 Pell grant, combine it with a $2000 state scholarship, federal loans of another $3500, parent contributions of $2500, student savings of $1000, and school aid of $5000 and you have $17000 per year, more than enough to attend a college in your community. Please do not mock the improvement. Every little bit helps.
The fact is Romney doesn't care about middle and lower class kids going to college. RICH KIDS RULE (inside Romney's mind)
As political junkies, we hang out on sites like this and 24-7 cable news waiting for the candyman to show and give us the big fix. Well last night he showed up! Bill Clinton delivered a virtuoso performance the likes of which I have not seen nor heard for far too long, a stem winding, barn burning, roof raising, rock em sock em political performance that put fire to the belly, spine to the back and that all important “Yes We Can” to the heart and mind … it was PURE ART … and its anagram, RAPTURE.
When seeking an analogy, baseball never leaves one at a loss, and I recall listening to Duke Snider many a languid summer ago quoting the Pirate’s bullpen coach Sam Narron. “Keep the nits and gnats off base, because those lions and tigers will get you.” Those pesky nits and gnats have been getting on base and the lions and tigers, Michelle and Bill have been rocketing the ball out of the park. Tonight the cleanup hitter is coming to the plate.
Moving on … Nuns on Buses, Sisters you rock!
p.s. I’ve known Feisty to pop a lot of corn over the last while but the sound I heard last night rumbling over the border was Republican heads popping.
Hats off to Nuns on the buss, Sisters you do indeed rock! guess they need to take paulie back to Catholic school for a little training because he sure missed something somewhere along the way. I agree Blackcatwhitecat - President Clinton was great, he was informative, to the point, and the humor - correct as it was still has me chuckling this morning. Kind of funny don't you think that georgie jr was not even invited to mitts parade, much less invited to speak - and where was uncle dick? Not in Tampa, thats for sure. Thanks President Clinton, we most certainly are fired up and ready to go to work to help re-elect President Obama. Hope and change have worked very well for my middle/working class family - thanks so much for asking!
BCWC, terrific and the crowd cheers! "I feel good" dadada..da
Definitely, Sister Simone Campbell rocked the House.
RE: Nuns on a bus
Sister Simone has been on the Daily Show and Colbert Report, along with some other shows and i absolutely love her message. She preaches the things i was taught in Catholic school from K-7, and that is something currently missing from the evangelical movement that is so focused on ending abortion they forget everything else they are supposed to believe in...
RE: Nuns on a bus - it is refreshing to see these women press on as they represent the humanistic qualities we look for from religion vs. the political monsters that lead the Catholic and Mormon religions, pawning off their candidates Romney/Ryan, in attempts to morph and converge religion and politics.
Voting the Romney/Ryan ticket is voting for the merging of religion and politics.
I was so glad to see Sister Simone last night---love the Nuns on the Bus; made a contribution at their web site.
Romney and Ryan - real liars with no workable ideas and lotsa experience at weaving their lies into a narrative only fox and Limbaugh followers could believe.
Romney and Ryan - a disaster for this country that we love.

Repeating the same lying post does not make it become true. Your Goebbels tactics are NOT going to work here so please cut it out as it is only annoying and wastes cyberspace.
Boy Howdy, Yee Haw, Yippee, Whoo Hoo, Wowser, Day Two! Another night of terrific speeches culminating with President Clinton & President Obama on the stage together. My only complaint was Andrea Mitchell and MSNBC spoiling the surprise of President Obama's arrival last night. Why not let the home audience be surprised?
To put it simply, President Bill Clinton dismantled Romney, Ryan and the GOP's lies, called out their obstruction, called out their unreasonable hatred of a man and democrats, called out their plot to defeat President Obama, called out their radical agenda, called out their plans as failed trickle down, ridiculed the Cayman Islands and used ARITHMETIC!
Because he is no longer in office and does not have to work with the other side, President Clinton can say things directly that President Obama cannot. It was a masterful speech, simple to grasp, and he did not hesitate to call the lies what they are. In 48 minutes, President Bill Clinton made mincemeat out of the Romney/Ryan/GOP/SuperPAC false claims about President Obama and he did it with southern charm, humor and serious details.
My guess is the GOP and Romney/Ryan team started feeling ill about 11:30 PM last night, came down with Clintonian Flu and migraine headaches. For democrats, the song running through our heads...."I feel good"!
How could I forget, President Clinton turned the GOP/Romney/Ryan "are you better off now" on its head; he threw it right back in their laps....no doubt the cause of the migraine headaches.
Are we better off now than 4 years ago? HELL YES!
God these right wing naysayers are so out of touch with the real world facts and math.
Job1, Welfare rolls are up, food stamps are up, and unemployment is up. Maybe if you are in the first two items you are better off than you were earlier!
CKSM, you need a refresher course in Arithmetic. The welfare rolls were up under Bush, too, and the Bush/GOP global economic collapse only increased the need. The Recession began in Dec 2007 when we started losing lots of jobs monthly. But, hey, CKSM, go ahead and vote for the party that caused the disaster in the first place just because they say they didn't mean to do it--that's what they said after Reagan and Bush 41!
As Clinton put it simply when describing the GOP...we left him a total mess, he didn't clean it up fast enough so put us back! Now, in my opinion, putting back the folks who created the mess and didn't help clean it up is stupid.
I agree Jody - the Repubs are probably hunkered down right now trying to figure out how to salvage their farce of a campaign in the light of Clinton's powerful speech. If the desperation of the inane posts of no jo, smiffy and WCA are any indication, they should save Koch and Adelson a lot of money and just start winding it down now.
RTFS - I think the Brits were brilliant in their early label of Romney and his campaign - ROMNEYSHAMBLES. After Clinton's speech last night, it certainly applies. In fact, it may be time to move on to "The Romney F-Bomb".
Jody - I would almost like to be a fly on the wall when Romney and Ryan are talking today - ALMOST!
I'll bet they have that deer in the headlights look - trying to figure out how to spin the rhetoric to dispute Clinton's numbers with their lies. And, how to make the lies believable??? It means they'll only talk to those who don't know any better or don't care to know.
Karl Rove's head is about to explode!!!! Bet he has migraines all day! And, I'll bet he's kicking himself that he and the top boys bought Romney/Ryan to run!
Obama/Biden 2012
Oh, I am sure that, at this very minute, Romney's camp is desperately trying to figure out how they can avoid a debacle in a debate between their failed candidate and President Obama. They won't want to prop up Mitt in front of the entire country and send him into a one-sided battle of wits for which he is completely unprepared and unequipped.
The only choice the GOP has is to dredge up another ancient actor suffering from senile dementia to argue with unoccupied furniture and hope Mitt sneaks out of the hall during all of the confusion.
Really Jodie really it is too bad college does not make people intelligent what a shame all that money and you graduate an idiot!
the rethugs are toast after this convention... it's done everything their's didn't, couldn't and wouldn't, gave answers, truth and plans for the future. After the debates, they can crawl back into their bubbles and let the likes of Lush Rimballs, Sean Insanity, Bill O'Reilly and Glen Bleak soothe their injured egos
independent...is proof that a child was left behind...
I surely wish Newsvine would fix their "block author" option... you are such a waste of time and words A$$hole. A perfect example of what is wrong with the tea bagger republicans.
There's a lot of entitlement attitude here today. What's so wrong with students paying for their own education, or not. I know several "students" who have NEVER bothered to pay back their student loans, and my guess is that if I know several, times that by every voter out there across the nation and it would be a mess of money that has never been paid back. I know several who apply, start the courses, and then quit. I have never heard one of them ever say they have paid back what was shelled out! My guess is potus and flpotus have never paid back their loans either, and they can certainly afford it!
If they want to go to school, they should think about it. Take responsibility for the money they are asking for in assistance. This country is so full of FREELOADERS it's unthinkable.
If Mitt Romey and Paul Ryan plan on sitting down and looking at the financial books, why should anyone complain other than the fact that they will probably take a loss on their FREE RIDE!
Anything and everything should be done to financially correct the corruption that has become so apparent.
oh I know Patricia...just like how Paul Ryan received social security, by his own admission and it helped him while he got his college degree. Just sickenin! So many hands out for them "entitlements".
When Obama took office in Jan 2009, the estimate of the economic downturn in the 3rd quarter was -5% growth and for the 4th quarter it was -3.5%. He launched an economic program to fix the economy and made speeches promoting the stimulus. The stimulus passed and a month or so later the revised figures came in. Growth in the 3rd quarter was -7.5%. Growth in the 4th Quarter 2008 was -8.5%. In other words, our economy was shrinking at more than double the rate that our government and private economic experts had told him and us. He was a victim of bad information, but due to republican intransigence, he could do little more to stimulate the economy than what was already done.
When you hear the promises he made (what his opponents call lies) recited " I will cut the budget deficit in 1/2 by the end of my first term, realize that he was speaking on the basis of an overly optimistic assessment of our economy.
I wrote these numbers down when I heard them on NPR because I knew that what he said on the basis of the initial estimates of the severity of the recession were way too optimistic based on the actual shape of the economy reflected in those revised numbers. -3.5% annual growth is BAD, -8.5% is simply HORRIFIC. So, next time someone accuses Obama of lying about the future, ask the date he said it. I am sure that it would be before the stimulus passed and well before the worst economic news in my lifetime came down from the economic experts.
By the way, many economic experts say that our economic figures today are not as reliable as they used to be because of budget cutbacks in the Federal departments that do the numbers.
If you're trying to get those facts to resonate with the teahads who lap up all the Faux Noise, Rove and Rush propaganda crap and just hate Barack Obama for the sake of hating him, you're wasting your time as these fools are willing to hand overe their SS and MC to the theives on Wall St, keep giving taxpayer subsidies to the mega billionaire fossil industry to rape and plunder our county's natural resources while we pay for the costs of the clean-up, the endless wars over this antiquated resource and BTW, another WAR but with IRAN this time but our children should not enough teachers in their classrooms or even pay those teachers a decent wage or give them the resources to teach our children because they're just "overpaid, lazy, union thugs who leech off the taxpayers" as goes the teahad lie of 2011 against public sector workers so fire them all....CEOS and corporations s/b worshipped instead and given MORE MILLIONS of our money and "smaller government" is only for THEM, not anyone else as government will be too broke to help the citizens in this country when THEY need it.
So true Teresa, a corporate world under the republicrap leadership is exactly that. They have demolished the only avenue for a working person to succeed, UNIONS. Sure most hate the notion of a union until they are the one that needs help in the workplace. Unions did not send our jobs overseas, CEO's did that. American workers manufacture the best goods in the world, some just choose to spend their money on "perceived" better things. Romney/Ryan; Rove, the Koch brothers, and Adelson's millions have done what millions OF PEOPLE have not done, they found the key to circumvent our vote. These people will do ANYTHING to steal what is left of the middle class future. Romney's "business" of leveraged buy outs made him millions, (stashed in secret bank accounts) IT ALSO KILLED MILLIONS OF GOOD PAYING JOBS IN AMERICA. He got his money, we got the shaft,WITHOUT EVEN GETTING A KISS. My mind is set, PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS HAVE MY VOTE, and that means President Obama is my choice!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight - Isolated thunderstorms early, becoming clear after midnight. Low 69. Chance of rain 30%.
Pizza Boy if you are trying to make a point you may want to find a couple of weather sites that agree. Those two are so far off of each other it isn't even funny. 60-40 and 60-30? low 75-69? I get back to ya at 10 or 11 tonight so that you will know what the weather really is. Rain stops by 7 or 8. Begins to clear by 11 or twelve. No Thunderstorms after this afternoon (if even then).
I'll check in with you occasionally through the day so you are up to date.
Wow...with your prescience, what the hell are you doing here? You should be out in Vegas killing it at the sports books.
Yeah, no, you're right...this is all some grand conspirace, right, Ms. Cleo?
hand, if the storms we had in middle Tennessee are heading east (and they normally do), and I was in Charlotte, NC, then I'd be rather happy someone had the good sense to "Get out of the rain". So you want to tell me why the republicans did not have anything outdoors in Tampa? Oh yeah, it was raining, right? Well, some of the time anyway.
It's because Mr. Romney can sure draw a crowd in a big stadium!
Noid - Nice try, but they already made their minds up. Here are some other possible forecasts:
1. President stands in pouring rain to give speech. Chance of right wing trotting out same talking points they did a few weeks ago when he spoke in the pouring rain - photo op, grandstanding, yada, yada, yada? 100%.
2. President stands in pouring rain to give speech. Thunderstorm hits, with lightning. Chance of right wing attacking him for risking innocent lives for a moment of self-aggrandizement? 1005.
3. DNC waits till last minute to see if it rains or not. Ends up moving convention back indoors, but doesn't have time to restage lighting, sound system, etc. Chance of right wing piling on about lack of experience and general ineptitude? 100%.
4. Chance of President Mitt Romney someday filling up my nephew's Little League bleachers? 0%.
5. Chance of President Obama filling up some other stadium that holds as many people if not more between now and Elcetion Day? 120%.
6. Chance of the right wing coming on here and admitting they were wrong when he does? Less than 0%.
7. Chance of the NOJOE (National Object to Just Obama Everything) Weather Service bringing us more clouds and gray skies tomorrow? Well, even though that forecast has been the exact same every day for the last four years, I suppose it's at least theoretically possible that the sun could come out. Wait, what am I saying? Absolutely 0%!
Uh, Noid? According to NOAA,
By the way? A twenty percent chance of showers is pretty standard for the east coast this time of year.
P.S. - I like this photo even better!
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/02/24/10499355-romney-lays-out-economic-vision-in-mostly-empty-stadium?lite
It wasn't long ago we saw an outdoor stage collapse on a crowd waiting to see Sugarland. Gusting winds are dangerous. Better safe than sorry, and the TV audience won't be looking at miserable faces in the rain!
Thank you, "no joe", but the reason I did not go with NOAA's forecast is that NOAA is a government agency run by the Dept of Commerce...so I figured that if I sourced NOAA someone would just call shenanigans.
Think it is already set up. No time needed.
Chance of that venue being in the Charlotte area, Practically 0%. Many that wanted to attend LIVE here not bussed in.
IF he does, I have no problem admitting I was wrong. Unlike the liberals who clam up when they run out of talking points and don't respond to a reasonable rebuttal of their position.
And UNION BABY to my knowledge they never planned to have anything outside. They did their homework and know what the weather is like in Florida. In the summer pop up storms are common late in the day.
Right-wing twisted logic sighting. The GOP cancelled one day of their convention because of a hurricane, it wasn't safe or even possible for everyone to get there; democrats didn't whine and make stupid comments about the decision--sheesh, democrats could have said GOPers are revolting against Mitt Romney, called a blue flu sickout for Monday! But fortunately, we recognize that putting the safety of people first is just good sense.
Democrats listened to the threat of severe weather and determined the possibility of dangerous and unsafe conditions for an outdoor event is too risky. The right throws a hissy fit and creates a conspiracy theory, claims it's because President Obama can't fill the stadium--ignoring, of course, that 65,000 tickets had been issued and another 19,000 supporters were on a wait list. Talk about right-wingers sounding desperate and grasping straws, this nonsense adds to the long list of twisted logic!
Talk to the Hand -
Sorry, but I'm having a hard time believing you guys actually even want to go there with the "empty seats" argument, but hey - fine with me. Since President Clinton was giving us all the scores last night, let's play "Who Draws Bigger Crowds?" from now till Election Day. I'll take Obama, I'll give you Romney, and since I'm such a generous lib, I'll even give you a couple hundred thousand warm bodies to start off with.
P.S. - Fair warning - JoAnnaSmith1 has said on more than one occasion that she wouldn't walk across the street to see Romney, so don't waste a ticket on her!
It's sad that the radical right hopes are for a failure. They are just plain anti American.
Uhhh, no jo, (by the way, why do you think that makes you sound clever? You have run it into the ground just like everything else you write):
You don't put large groups of people in a stadium when lightning may be in the air. You just don't. You would have a gleeful hate day if people got hurt, and since it would feed your obsession about this President, you wouldn't very much care that someone WAS hurt, as long as you could blame the President.
It must drive you crazy that both Mrs. Obama and President Clinton were freaking brilliant when they spoke. I am sure that you are spinning around in an absolute tizzy that Mrs. Obama was radiant, gorgeous, and reached hearts in an outfit that cost about $500, and Queen Ann looked dowdy in comparison in her $5000.00 Oscar de la Renta, and sounded an absolute fool.
But, hate does that to you. Come to the light, and realize that happiness is voting for your President. It will heal your soul.
Great link to that picture Johanna, thanks for reminding us of the visual of empty seats.
Please read the widespread showers and thunderstorms developing by 4pm.
My link won't post. Go to weather.com
Weather forecasting is an inexact science. Variables such as the effects of remnants of hurricane Isiah certainly throw a wrench into the art of weather forecasting. I know for a fact that some weather forecasters are taught to overstate the likelihood of severe weather because the ramifications of an unexpected severe weather event will leave the weather forecast customer remembering how they didn't say it was going to rain on a day he just painted his house trim and then it rained. Who remembers the day they said it might rain and it didn't? Best to err on the side of caution.
The newest research from Nate has it as the NOV 6 factors:
“Obama chance of winning 76.3% Romney 23.7%”
“Projected Winner Obama 311.2”
“Projected Loser Romney 226.8”
Hey Job1 - Hope you are right on the POTUS race. I think Obama wins with 277- 281.
Predictions from Nate Silver on the House and Senate, that I could find, are a bit closer.
Democrats are only something like 184 seats sure or safe in the House. Right now they stand with 190 or 195 seats, I say Democrats get to around 207 tops. GOP maintains control of the House.
However, Mr. Silver hasn't posted Senate data or am I missing it? With 33 seats up, 22 being democratic, I feel that holding the Senate is nearly impossible. My take without seeing Silver's data/polls is GOP gain 7 senate seats and win it back. As Silver would probably say Democratic chance of holding Senate 10%.
Hope I am wrong.
Democrat, your anger is betraying you. Bill Clinton did not bow to anyone. Hilary Clinton is doing her job as Secretary of State. Cabinet members hardly ever go to either convention.
Iamnotyou, your anger betrays you as well. You are confusing vote tampering with voter fraud.
Grow up, both of you.
Iamontoyou, you are a repulsive, hateful, lying, racist, maggot, troll and have been reported, especially for the comments made about Rep. Moore and her family. She is a fine individual as well as a RAPE survivor who grew up against odds you would never have lived through, let alone aspire to become what SHE has you miserable piece of neocon FILTH!!!! Voter fraud? That is the lamest excuse your party of facist teahads have created to deny certain people their Constitutional RIGHT to vote because "those people" may likely vote Democrat so create another manufactured "crisis" based on what amounted to a few cases over what took years of LOOKING for them for teahad controlled states to systematically start passing these BS laws-(all after they got control in 2011), to suppress the voting rights of people who will likely NOT vote gop. FASCISM!!! Then of course, nothing has been about creating JOBS but attacking people's civil rights from all these bloody abortion laws, defunding PP, demonizing HCR as "big government hurting FREEDOM when the HCR law sees that insurers cannot deny the healthcare to ordinary citizens that CONGRESS gets from the taxpayers", crushing labour unions as the "enemy", corporations are "people" and should have all regulations on THEM eliminated , MORE tax cuts and even a glorified name of JOB CREATORS, keep us at war forever and jack up the military and accuse our President of going on "apology tours as we must tout and hawk about our EXCEPTIONALSIM"... this is all the work of FASCISTS, along with the non-stop propaganda about how the "illegals" are to blame for everything, getting FREE healthcare from our socialist, non-American born President who hates America and has divided the country.
Stop your BS teahads because this crap is YOUR DOING and no one else's. YOU are the hate and cause of the economy who even though we have been gaining jobs since the election of Barack Obama, did kill the number one terrorist and 20 others on his watch while your lies insist on calling him "weak and an apologizer for America", your crap may fool your sheep who choose to hate the President for the sake of hating him but it is not fooling people who see what has been really going on since an election was stolen by a SCOTUS decision called Bush vs Gore and American democracy started to be sold down the river....Then 9/11 happened and the USA was sold to war profiteers and the populace was controlled by fear and we had to hand over our taxes in the name of "keeping us safe" and hand over our lifesavings to bail out Wall St in order to "save the tanking economy or else" but we would be paid back but we never were.
We're NOT GOING to let them do it to us AGAIN by voting in Robme and Ruin who want to give these theives free run of the show and start another war based on lies but make US pay for it-This time with our SS and MC because THEY'RE "bankrupting entitlements"? F--k YOU!!!!!
