Former President Bill Clinton is set to eviscerate Republicans for being responsible for policies that led to the 2008 economic meltdown - and yet wanting voters to put them back in power.
“In Tampa the Republican argument against the president's re-election was pretty simple: We left him a total mess, he hasn't finished cleaning it up yet, so fire him and put us back in," Clinton will say. “I like the argument for President Obama's re-election a lot better. He inherited a deeply damaged economy, put a floor under the crash, began the long hard road to recovery, and laid the foundation for a more modern, more well-balanced economy that will produce millions of good new jobs, vibrant new businesses, and lots of new wealth for the innovators."

He will also tout the president's vision for the country.
“The most important question is," Clinton will say, "what kind of country do you want to live in? If you want a you're-on-your-own, winner-take-all society, you should support the Republican ticket. If you want a country of shared prosperity and shared responsibility -- a we're-all-in-this-together society -- you should vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden.”

Oh, the possible repub conspiracies, start at Roswell/UFO/ET secrets, JFK assination investigations they have not supported, Iran-Contra selling arms to Iran for supporting Nicuaragan rebels fight against socialism (note that the Ayatollah of Iran did not release the hostages that Carter worked so hard to get released until the second that Reagan took his oath swearing in, they must have like Ron a lot more in Iran for some reason), 9/11 Truthers stuff....so repubs IF you do pull conspiracies like setting up future dem leaders for failure at the expense of hurting America on purpose, you are doing a bad job covering things up and are creating work for conspiracy writers/theorists.

I think most intelligent people recognize by now that Obama can't run on his record of failure. But a less-recognized corollary of that is that he can't fool the people with grandiose-sounding promises anymore either. Imagine Obama giving a campaign speech now saying: "Elect me and I will close Guantanamo within one year!" or "Elect me and I will cut the deficit in half by the end of my next term" ... If he tried those lines on us again, he would be laughed off the stage.
He can't run on his record, he can't run on his lies and empty promises. So how can he run? Attack, attack, attack ... That's all the Democrats have left.
