Romney: No Democrat said America is better off

WEST LEBANON, NH -- Mitt Romney emerged from debate rehearsals in Vermont today to pick up some pizzas, and to deliver his own analysis of the first night of the Democratic National Convention, which he said could not make the claim Americans were better off after President Obama's first term.

"You've heard no one stand up and say that people are better off than they were four years ago," Romney told reporters traveling with him as he picked up several extra large pies at a pizza joint here. "They really can't say that. They can't say it in all honesty. Particularly with the news that has come out this week."

Wednesday: David Gregory previews tonight's speech by Former President Bill Clinton at this week's Democratic Convention in Charlotte.

"That news: The national debt tripping $16 trillion dollars for the first time, and the number of Americans receiving food stamps topping 47 million, up 15 million from when President Obama took office," Romney said.

"The American people are not doing better and this president understands that and I think that's why people are reluctant to even talk about it because they know the American people know better," Romney said, echoing his campaign's latest line of attack against the Obama administration, after several top Obama advisers fumbled the "are we better off" question on last Sunday's talk-show circuit.

The comments to reporters marked Romney's emergence from a day of strenuous debate preparation at the secluded Vermont estate of his former Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey. Romney and a small coterie of aides gathered at the house yesterday morning for a series of mock debates with Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, who is playing the role of President Obama for Romney.

"I'm just glad I won't be debating ... Rob Portman in the final debates," Romney said. "He's good."

Here in the mountains, with limited cell phone and Internet service, Romney said he did not watch Michelle Obama's address to the Democratic convention in Charlotte last night, and that regardless he only had praise for the first lady.

"I didn't see her speech, but I certainly respect the first lady and think she's, she's done a fine job as our first lady," Romney said. "Lovely person and I respect her."

Romney could care less about Democrats because they're not going to vote for him. You know, a man who owns a business thinks he needs to be a Republican because they're for the business man. What they don't realize is the Republicans are only worried about big business and corporations, not the small business man. Year after year the small business man sees no change no matter which party is in charge. But they are die hard Republican. I've always said "Hannity and his people would support a trained monkey if he ran as a Republican.

Yes, they did, but Mr. Romney suffers from selective hearing. Those of us with the ability to read know what was coming and how President Obama worked hard and efficiently to avert a major economic crisis. It's very easy to criticize the man that saved your fortune, Mr. Romney. Your constant misguided attacks are showing increasing evidence of either your limited intellect or you total lack of honesty. Why don't you stop the attacks and present your plan to us? Assuming that you have one, of course.

It must be nice to be a republican.

No memories of of economic collapse, GWB, unfunded wars, debt-raising tax cuts, unregulated banking practices, and subsidized outsourcing of American jobs.

Maybe they should have to take a short test to vote.

What a stupid a&% question, every 4 years we have to hear it. How's the relationship with my wife? With my children? With my co-workers? Am I a better person to impact my little world? From 4 years ago, yes in alot of ways, no in a lot of ways, taking Obama out and inserting Romney I can guarantee you will NOT improve the answers to those questions.

I will ask the question of the American people especially modest income, low income and poor, what would they look like in 4 years if Ryan had his way and cut entitlements 6 trillion over 10 years, no cut in military??? Not enough food pantries and churches prepared for the onslaught, start sampling dry dog food for palitibility now, so you are prepared to SURVIVE.

Try Gravytrain, use hot water, stir, add parmesian cheese, it actually tastes good, add A-1 sauce, tastes even better, dog liked it too.

It must not be so nice to be a Democrat. To have to continue to deny the fact that when Obama took office he had control of, the White House, Congress, and the Senate. He also had support because he won the popular vote, he had "card blanch" and could have passed any legislation he wanted, and the Republican could have done nothing to stop him. When the economy collapsed do to the Community Re-Investment Act, passed by Jimmy Carter, millions of taxpaying citizens lost their jobs. But instead of passing legislation to put these people back to work, Obama pushed through Healthcare Reform. To understand why, you must first understand socialism. Socialists and progressives, need people dependent on Government. How better to create dependency on Government, than to collapse the economy........

A whole lot of people have said they are better off , even Democrats. But Mitt does not want to hear it . If Mitt were truthful he would have to admit he is better off, Just look at the stock market .
