Clinton also says in the interview that no president, in four years, could have restored the current economy "to full health" after the financial collapse of 2008.
Former President Bill Clinton, who will address the Democratic National Convention tonight, told NBC's Brian Williams why he feels President Obama needs to be reelected.
BRIAN WILLIAMS: Cover of Newsweek, "Why Barack needs Bill." Why do you think Barack needs Bill? What do you have to offer?
BILL CLINTON: I really don't know. I've always been mystified by that. I was honored when he asked me to nominate him. I hope what I can do, because we did have a good economy, because we did have the longest expansion in history, is explain why I think his approach is right and it'll pay off if we renew his contract. Explain why the economy he faced was much weaker and different than the one I faced, so that there's no way any president, no president could have restored it to full health in just four years.

The only thing Clinton did right was to help the Republicans take back the HOUSE and SENATE in his first mid term election in '94. Those Republicans forced Clinton to the middle and got him to sign the Taxpayer Relief Act and the Balanced Budget Amendment in 1997. After that the economy took off. Republican control of the House and Senate gave us a successful economy.
With Obama, we're going nowhere fast.

238 YEARS AGO TODAY, the First Continental Congress met on September 5, 1774 at Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia early in the American Revolution. They met in response to the passage of the Intolerable Acts imposed by the British to punish Boston for the Boston Tea Party. The delegates urged each colony to set up and train its own militia and prepare for war. This is quite a contrast to the Democratic convention last night which purged the word “God” from its platform and tried to sell the American people that Big Government is the Only Thing We All Belong To.
238 years ago today, our country did not see Black people as full citizens of our country. The republican party still does not see Blacks as full citizens as evidenced by voter id laws to disenfranchise Black people.

We believe that forcing people to help their fellow man is not charity. We believe that it is the individuals relationship and faith in Christ that saves them, not their acts. We believe that a personal relationship with God will push you to help others personally.
Jesus Christ has little to do with politics. However, a party unwilling to put God in their platform, is troublesome.

The big problem isn't that the economy is still bad, it's that it isn't getting better 9may be getting worse) and that the governmental barriers to more jobs keep going up. More business taxes, more requirements for benefits, more difficult to fire somebody who doesn't do their job, etc, etc, etc.
You can scream all you want about how all jobs should have more of everything, but I'm not going to hire someone if I will lose money on them - and any business that will soon goes bankrupt and then everyone loses their job!
