Dems to reinstate language on Jerusalem

Sen. Dick Durbin and Gov. Pat Quinn join The Daily Rundown to talk about the 2012 Democratic platform language concerning faith, Jerusalem, and God verse the language used on these topics in years past.

NBC News has learned that the Democratic Party will reinstate the language recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Republicans -- including the Romney campaign -- criticized President Obama and the Democrats after it was discovered this language had been omitted in the Democratic Party's platform

This will all be changed on the floor today, NBC has learned, and it will probably mean just simply reinstating the 2008 language.

If it's just "a couple of words," then why bother to put them back in? Bill Clinton, the accused rapist, and fornicator in the White House is a true women's rights advocate. What a joke! His wife appreciates his appetite for young interns, I'm sure. You are a silly fool if you think he is any better than any Republican.

Yes, it is a "big whoop". Removing the language was a direct and severe insult to one of our strongest and most important allies.

If you do not understand why, I feel sad for you. If you disagree that they are an important ally, I feel bad for this nation.

Big whoop. A couple of words.

A couple words ... refusing to recognize a "friend's" capital and what that implies is a couple of words?

Obama wants to tell them if they can build in their own capital?

How clueless and (gutless) can you guys be?

Bill Clinton, in an effort to secure an endorsement for Hillary from Ted Kennedy, said to Kennedy, (about Obama) “A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags.” Also called Barrack Hussein Obama and "amateur."

President Clinton is insightful, if he's nothing else.

If someone could remind us what good BO has done for America, we would appreciate it.

You say "a couple of words." According to the big man, Obama, himself, words mean something. He has made his entire political career using carefully chosen words.

Brush it off all you want, but it means something. It would be better if the DNC actually believed the words they are adding, but the simple fact they had to buckle under to majority opinion tells you they are only doing this to avoid losing votes.

BTW, why would ANYBODY believe a syllable that comes out of Bill Clinton's mouth after the lies and impeachment? Character DOES matter in our leaders. He lost any once of integrity he ever had long ago. He has nothing I want to hear.

Gosh SeepingSanity, did the GOP make a stupid clueless change / omission to their party platform and have to re-instate it on the second day of their convention?

Dems don't have the guts to stand by their beliefs ... they have to change their values / what the party stands for / their platform when the polling on an issue goes in the dumper - just to save a few votes?

Like puppets on a string, it's fun to watch the GOP make the Demmies jump.

Either that or it just didn't poll tested very well. Or, the Demmis can now say they had it out of the platform, until they had it in the platform. Either way, they're covered.

A certain host of a news talk show whose name I will not mention but has by far and wide the biggest following in prime time just said what I was thinking since I first heard about this. Big Daddy called up the idiots and said something like this: "You stupid idiots better put that God word back in and Jerusalem better go back in too. What are you doing? You're gonna lose this election for me, then we'll never be able to ban God and Jerusalem language here in America. Don't you know a few democrats still go to church and worship God? We'll get rid of them later, but right now you need to rewrite that platform creed thing and BTW you haven't had any word from me, OK?

Oh, while I'm at it, Dick Durbin is a creep. He wouldn't answer Brett Baier's simple question "why was it taken out". He told him to leave him alone, it was over. Creep!

The voice vote WAS NOT a two thirds majority. To my hearing it "sounded" fifty/fifty or very close to it. The motion was incorrectly passed. I, personally, would have been in support of the motion because politically it is insane for such language to have been omitted. I, however, feel sorry for the democrats who were "disregarded" and misrepresented in this voice vote which was obviously not a two thirds majority. And now that the motion has been infairly passed it will not make much of a difference to whom the language directly affected...many of the "Jewish" vote. This lost ground may well NOT be regained because it is already known that the Democratic Party has taken this position, reversed though it may have been...the damage has been done; POLITICAL INSANITY!

The Dems will say anything for votes, and then do something else. The same way Obama has given taxpayer money away to buy votes. If Obama gets reelected, all you people who got Obama bribes had better watch out because he has to save money and guess where he will get it. From you !! How many of you realize that the "wage tax" cut Obama put in that increased your paychecks, by taking funding from Social Security, expires this January and your pay checks will go down again. Same for his "executive order" implementing the Dream Act -- only a couple of months old and it will die in January. Immigrants don't count on it. Obama's a fraud.

The words God and Jerusalem were reinstated because of Obama. He is the one who objected that they had been removed from the platform by the committee. At least the Democrats admit that a mistake was made and fixed it. And they made it reflect the core beliefs of their candidate. Romney didn't do that with the rape/abortion language in the Republican platform. He just had the RNC chair say it was the platform of the party but not the platform of Mitt Romney. So what is his platform? We just don't know...do we??

This is one American Jew who will vote for Obama because history has proven that it's the Democrats who have Israel's back!

I wasn't aware that Obama voiced an objection.

An oversight? A mistake? And where is the evidence, since I've been challenged on sources on this site, that deleting those terms were NOT deliberate? I'm not saying it was deliberate, even though I suspect it was, but judging from the vote voice, there were more than a third of the delegates that did not want the alleged errors corrected.

Then there's that abuse of power thing with a low level state employee in Arkansas. Funny how the leaders of N.O.W. back then didn't seem to get their dander up too much over that. As I recall the various panel discussions which included said leaders, the net result seemed to be that guys get one free pass, and if the get an indication of refusal, THEN it's bad.

Btw, having the only President that was IMPEACHED/ forced to give up his law license "speak up" for you isn't anything to brag about. Most Americans see Clinton as a mediocre President who happened to be in office when the internet and personal computers came into vogue (spurring massive economic growth). When the internet "bubble" burst, Clinton was left with a recession that he didn't/couldn't fix. Funny, I don't remember Bush blaming Clinton for the "mess" he was left with.....

There was just a vote on the floor of the DNC to amend the platform on Jerusalem. Mayor Vilargosa asked for vote which needed 2/3 majority. He asked the question three times and then declared that in his opinion there was 2/3 majority. It sure didn't sound like 2/3 to me.

No you call them like you WANT to see them, and obviously you are severely site (and hearing) impaired. Either that or just in need of some sort of infusion of intelligence.

Just imagine being able to go back and keep a detailed, chronological list of the lies, the shady associations, the broken promises, and the failures of this administration and the Left.

What would such a list look like now?

John Doe - let's look at the lies, deceit, broken promises, mountains of debt, needless wars, needless deaths of our brave men and women and the total failures of the GOP from 2000 to 2008. Then let's look at the Republicans in Congress who chose party over country for the last two years.

And after that, let's look at the Democrats with 2/3 majority in the government structure from 2007 through 2008 and beyond. And it was Bush's fault. Last two years of his term, Dems had the upper hand. Then Obama wasted a year on the ACA instead of jobs and the economy.

Anyone who believes putting these words back in the platform will change the attitude or direction of this administration is a fool. This party has been flip-flopping since Kerry gave conflicting speeches to a Jewish audience and an Arab audience in'04. It is time for the Jewish voters to do more research and not blindly follow the Democrats.

And maybe the Republican party shouldn't blindly follow their Israeli bankrollers and stay out of another Middle East debacle. If the Israeli's really want a war with Iran, let them fight it on their own. Two men enter, one man leaves - let the strongest prevail. If they really are God's chosen people, then they shouldn't need our help.

There is a bigger issue in the form of the message it sends to every ally or potential ally. Folks can have their position on Israel, but what you communicate is a broader narrative to our friends (as well as enemy's) that we are possibly not as committed as we once were. At best it hints of a return to isolationism (which we know does not work); at worst we tell our friends (and foes) don't count on us.

That folks is dangerous. Look no further than the South China Sea where we are being tested (make no mistake about it). This reeks of amateur hour and this administration (and party) is not up to the task. The other guys "may" not be either, but we know the current one is out of their league.

BTW- the 2/3 adoption motion at the convention was (shall we say) embarrassing. Villaraigosa had to ask 3x and it sound like 50/50 me, then goes on to say 2/3's adopted? Why didn't he ask for a roll call? I amend my earlier statement. This does not reek of amateur hour. This IS amateur hour.

As a US citizen this is bad. I don't care what your party affiliation is this does not put our country in a positive light. We may not like the other guys, but at least they understand the broader implications.

Obama, and the Democrat party, will say and do literally anything when needed to garner a few votes. They believe in nothing, other than power! Obama is expert in hiding his real thoughts from the American people, and kin order to find out what he really thinks, you have to watch what he does.

They obviously need the Jewish vote. Jerusalem is back in but what about GOD? Do they want to try to buy His vote too? Shame on them for not including both in the first place.

Obama approving taking “GOD” out of the Democratic Platform is consistant with a new book out called “Harbinger” by Jonathan Cahn. Where is America headed? Is it possible... That there exists an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America's future? That this mystery lies behind everything from 9/11 to the collapse of the global economy? The book is an interesting and easy read.
