Biden's son zings Ryan's marathon time

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Even top Obama campaign attack dog Joe Biden hadn't made this joke yet.

It was Biden's son Beau -- the attorney general of Delaware as well as an active Obama campaign surrogate -- who today  took aim at his dad's rival Paul Ryan for amending his stated marathon time and suggesting that his athletic 61-year-old stepmother could beat the GOP fitness buff.

Recommended: Ryan tries to draw wedge between Clinton, Obama

"The Romney-Ryan budget means what it says," the younger Biden told an audience of veterans at a DNC gathering. "I believe his math as relates to his budget. I'm not sure if I believe his math as it relates to his marathon times."

Zing.

Ryan has been criticized for boasting to a conservative radio host that he clocked in at "two hour and fifty something" during a 1990 marathon. His actual time was later revealed to be closer to four hours, a mistake Ryan has attributed to the decades gone by as well as to a back injury that prevented him from running later in life.

Decision 2012: Romney: No Democrat said America is better off

Ribbing Ryan for mistaking the time -- "not something you forget, right?" -- he added that his stepmother Jill Biden ran the same distance in about four and a half hours. (According to the Marine Corps Marathon website, Dr. Biden completed the 1998 race in 4:30:02.)

"So I guess he could compete with my mom," Biden concluded. "Maybe not, I think my mom can take him."

The funniest part of little Paulie's fib is, even Bible Spice beat Lyin Ryan!

Anyone who has ever run & finished a marathon knows exactly what their time was... it is not something you forget!

This guy is a pathological serial liar just like his running mate and their constituency!

Ryan is simply trying his best to out lie his stooge of a boss, Mitt to make the conservatives happy. Lies is what arouses them all.

If you want to talk about lies, tell me who told all of these:

1. I will half the deficit.

2. My stimulus bill will keep unemployment below 8%.

3. I never voted against the infanticide bill.

4. I had no knowledge of the Lockerbie bomber's release.

5. I was unaware of Jeremiah Wright's radicalism.

6. I will limit lobbyist influence in the White House.

7. I will post all bills online before signing them.

8. I will air the healthcare debates on C-SPAN.

9. I will end no-bid contracts.

10. I will not raise taxes on anyone making less than 250 thousand dollars.

11. I am against gay marriage.

12. I will cut earmarks to 1994 levels.

13. I have never considered a public option.

14. I am not a proponent of a VAT.

15. I vetted Van Jones.

16. I never had conversations with Bill Ayers.

17. I will eliminate the capital gains tax for small businesses.

18. I will remain a strong ally of Israel's.

19. The individual mandate in my healthcare bill is not a tax.

20. I am a staunch defender of coal energy.

If you answered Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama, and Obama, then congratulations. You scored 100%.

yeah, why would we want to replace a politician who exaggerates their accomplishments when we already have one as VP.

. . . Biden also seems driven in no small part by a staggering intellectual insecurity. The figurative evidence room is full of examples. The most notorious comes from Biden’s 1988 bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. He had been hounded about his law-school record and plagiarism problems (among other things, he copied five pages from a law journal for a 15-page paper and then claimed it was a footnoting error), and he was asked a question about his academic record by a resident of New Hampshire.

He responded: “I think I have a much higher IQ than you do, I suspect.” He went on:

I went to law school on a full academic scholarship, the only one in my class to have a full academic scholarship. In the first year in the law, I decided I didn’t want to be in law school and ended up in the bottom two-thirds of my class and then decided I wanted to stay, went back to law school, and, in fact, ended up in the top half of my class. I won the international moot-court competition. I was the outstanding student in the political-science department at the end of my year. I graduated with three degrees from undergraduate school and 165 credits — only needed 123 credits. And I would be delighted to sit down and compare my IQ to yours.

Most of these statements were outright lies. Biden graduated from college with just one degree, not three. Yes, he did win a moot-court competition, but he graduated 76th in his class of 85. He wasn’t the outstanding political-science student. And why is he still talking about how many credits he graduated with? Who does that?

And as to his pretentious wife. How many PhD's do you know who insist on being called doctor? I've yet to meet one.

MMMM personal attack after personal attack but no defense or support of Obama's record. I have posted at least 10 times today asking for how Michelle and her husband identify with the poor and middle class let alone minorities when this group of people have fared the worst under Obama's economic policies. Not one of you mental geniuses stood up and tried to defend him. Instead it was all the campaign talking points about tax returns, they are liars (like what politician isnt), look how beautiful and sweet Michelle is, and on and on but no passionate defense of why Obama deserves 4 more years.

Jen, explain to me why you think that if by chance some random undecided independent voter came upon this blog, you think its a great campaign strategy to make fun of religion, Ann Romney, spew wild personal venom towards people and somehow that person is going to say "what your right I am now going to vote for Obama because I can feel the hatred in your heart and thats such a good thing I want some of that"

Feisty - the radical right continues to show they have absolutely nothing to offer but offer it freely - with lies, lies, lies.

When a "man" has to lie about his race time - then backtrack; about the car manufacturing plant - then backtrack; about Medicare which he has yet to fix because he hasn't had anyone walk up to his face and say "you're lying" what exactly does that "man" stand for? Nothing! Romney and Ryan keep putting our President down but they offer and stand for NOTHING!

We all know that what they say today they will correct or tell a different lie about tomorrow.

THIS is the BEST the GOP has to offer! It's beyond pathetic and actually is pretty sad. This country needs two parties - but the GOP is showing the backbone of their party is gone. After watching their convention it is clear they have no future. There were few young people in the audience. There was NO enthusiasm.

My guess is that within the next 6 years there will be a major overhaul or complete shutdown of the now faltering Republican party. Saner heads will put together a platform that is more inclusive and less hate filled. That is the only way any semblance of a Republican party will survive.

At this point, they are just fodder for late night comedians.

As I recall, it basically took FDR 3 terms [and a world war] to address the profound problems visited upon him by the preceding Republican administration, so let's allow Pres. Obama 2 to redress the substantial problems he inherited. Perhaps he won't face as obstructionist a congress this time 'round and we'll no longer be squandering treasure in the Afghani hills and the sands of Iraq.

Romney, if elected, embracing failed policies of the past, will likely go down as the worst U.S. president: something that might make W smile. If he is elected, I have my heart set on an attractive Norwegian woman who lives near Oslo.

Paul Ryan is the KING OF LIES!

Here he is again lying about the closure of the GM Janesville plant closure, and how bragged getting FEDERAL MONEY to help the displaced workers!

Paul Ryan tried to blame President Obama for the GM plant closure in his Wisconsin district in 2008, before Obama became President. So the Republicans are trying to muddle the story by playing around with the dates.

Is this guy an idiot or what?

Paul Ryan Statement on GM's Announcement

October 13, 2008

WASHINGTON - Wisconsin's 1st District Congressman Paul Ryan released the following statemtn regarding General Motors' decision to discontinue production of their current product at the Janesville Assembly Plant on December 23, 2008:

"GM's decision to end production of their SUV's at the end of this year gets at the heart of our economic crisis. Today's announcement is disappointing, although not surprising given the drop-off of sales of SUV's. I will continue to do all that I can to support those in our community hit hardest by this loss, as we work to rebuild and revitalize Southern Wisconsin.

"Contrary to headlines I've read this morning, it is also critical to note that this accelerated timeline applies only to the current SUV product at the plant. I am encouraged by the tireless work of state, local, and union leaders who have offered a comprehensive incentives package to GM to bring another product to the plant. GM and local officials have continued their dialogue on keeping GM in Janesville, and I am hopeful that their talks will be successful. "

........

If there's any politician who can be blamed for the failure to keep the plant open, it's Paul Ryan. Time for some of that accountability the Republicans like to beat their chests about. After the plant closed he bragged about receiving federal money to help displaced workers.

According to a rudimentary LexisNexis search, Ryan made multiple public pleas to GM, including op-eds in his home state newspaper, to keep the plant open. He and fellow Wisconsin lawmakers went to the automobile company's headquarters to present plans to extend the plant's life. When the Bush administration itself called the decision to close the plant evidence that the auto industry was trimming fat and improving its bottom line, Ryan called the news "gut-wrenching."
And as it became clear in early-fall 2008 that GM wouldn't relent, Ryan publicly touted the federal tax money he secured to help displaced workers -- a use of funds that would seem at odds with his limited-government, fiscal conservative image.

Damned those FACTS! LMFAO@TEAPARTY/REPUKES

Actually I think the actions of both parties have made this election the worst mud slinging and dirty fitlh of any other one. Biden is one who likes to make the stupid jokes, shows his IQ level to be really low by his comments, not good for a man. Makes him look so stupid, because you would think he wouldn't just boast about his IQ but want to show it by his actions. Now we have a"Joe Biden", Who is acopy of his father, the diffrence is, he is still the little boy, who needs to grow up,and be his own man, not a copy of his father. Well I will tell you little Joe Biden, bet I could take you and I have no doubts about your mother. I know I could take her. This is not the time to joke and smear people, if a man can't get elected on his own merits, he doesn't need to be in the white house. I will go you one furthr, I don't respect or honor any man or woman who will not salute the American Flag. If the president of the United States cannot salute the flag, he has no honor or the good of our country in mind. One fact is for sure. Obana and Biden is not a Roosevelt and Truman. They never will be. This country does not make presidents like them anymore. If Obama thought he could use Roosevelt's ideas and his presidency in how to bring us out of debt, find jobs, etc. He used the wrong tatics. Obama gave money to the auto industry, and other big companis to crate jobs. These companies didn't do the job, they went on long vacations, etc. Never happened. Roosevelt created jobs for the actual average American and they worked. I know how it was. I was there. When we entrred World WarII war II, the men went to war and the women went to work, They were refered to " Rosie the riverer. They built ships, worked at the war effect. there is no General in this world today who equal men lke MacAuther, Esienower and others who lead our troops into battle . Tell something "little Joe Biden" do you think your mother could take Rosie, NO>

Ryan likes to harp on leadership -

We will not duck the tough issues....We will lead.....Right.

      1. Obama raids medicare - Lie

      2. Obama dropped the work requirement in welfare - Lie

      3. The Janeville GM plant was closed by Obama - Lie

      4. I didn't ask for stimulus money - Lie

      5. You did build that - Lie (Obama never said you didn't..lol)

      6. The Simpson Bowles commission - Lie - He walked away as well

      7. Rape is Rape - Lie (He authored legislation with Akin defining some rape as "forcible")

      8. I ran a 2 minute fifty something marathon - Lie

........and so on...I think they mean the truth is hard for them, not hard truths..

This little snarky and smug fellow (born on 3rd base btw) is no leader - He is a LIAR. I'm pretty sure the definition of leadership does not include serial lying. Pretty clear pattern of lying about all things big and small.

Romney showed us who he is by picking this chronic liar. Not to mention missing Romney's own criteria to be president; One must have experience in the business community. Ryan fails this test as well - so the top of the ticket that selected him ALSO defines him as unqualified. Vintage Romney! All sides of all issues. If you don't like his position on something, just wait a news cycle.

Here are some real hard truths for you republicans -

      1. Equal Pay for Equal work for women - Check

      2. Saved the Auto industry - Check

      3. Stock Market went from 6500 to 13,000 - Check

      4. 29 Consecutive months of job gains - Check

      5. Osama Bin Laden is DEAD - Check

      6. He has kept us safe - Check

      7. Repealed DADT - Check

      8. Stimulus a success - Check (If you believe fact checkers!)

      9. Iraq war OVER - Check

      10. Afganistan over in 2014 - Check

      11. Fully realizes we have much more to do - Check

If Obama was a (dare I say white) republican, there would be calls to get him on Mt. Rushmore. Yes, unemployment is too high, as is the debt, but serious folks can agree we will need a balanced approach to tackling these issues. Even their hero, Reagan would be primaried from the right today (raised taxes 17 times)....

Achilles--those are pretty mild achievements in the face of such a huge economic mess. First, put things in context,

        1. Equal pay for equal work was always the law, this was just a gift to the Trial Lawyers Association. This is not an achievement but a bad thing.

        2. Debatable as no one really believes that it would have disappeared completely do you really believe that? You dont believe GM would have emerged from bankruptcy in better shape without government intervention and the financial gift to the unions?

        3. Good thing and has restored some wealth but primarily benefits the upper middle class and working wealthy. The poor and middle class have been dramatically hurt under Obama's economic policies so not sure I would use this one.

        4. No job gains that dont even keep up with the new workers entering the work force. Abysmal recovery and not something I would ever use as an achievement at this point in the economic cycle

5-10. I would say not bad but for stimulus as it was the right idea but badly implemented. More of a pork bill for democratic ear marked locations and short term government stimulus rather than private enterprise investment incentives like Reagan and Clinton did.

What you fail to mention is that Obama has created an entitlement state. If we are better off than 4 years ago, then why is government assistance and welfare rising at double digit rates. They should be going down not up. Unemployment in minority communities is double the national average and getting worse. Obama's policies ahve put more people into poverty and growing daily not going down. The unintended consequences of progressive economic policies are more harmful than the benefits they think they create. Has always been the case and always will. When you abandon concepts such as self reliance, personal responsibility and accountability thats what happens.

Obama signed the Liddy Ledbetter Act giving women equal pay as men

Obam signed the Credit Card Reform Act forcing credt card companies to stop their deceptive practices.

How did the president save general the car industry? He lent money that you and I wil have to pay back. I supported the president but, now I see he really doesn't care about anyone but the party. My goodness they have an illegal person speaking at the convention. Thats totally wrong and now I've changed my mind on who I will vote for.

Hellooo RLINGLE1: The president structured a federal loan for General Motors and Chrysler. They paid the principal, fees and interest BACK IN FULL, two years EARLY. So what repayment are you freaking out about?

Good news? now that you have facts you won't have switch to mittens and lyinryan.....then again your post identifies you as a typical low information/high hate GOP disciple. So yep, mitt the flipflopping twit is your guy.

You Democrats taking credit for the Dow going from 6500 to 13000 must be joking. Anyone - and I mean anyone - in the investment and business world is running at full speed from Obamanomics. WSJ, Forbes, Fortune, Barron's, Bob Brinker, etc, etc, etc. Not one investment/business guru agrees with what Obama is doing. None of them believe in increasing the debt burden on future generations to provide so many entitlements to the non-working. It didn't work in Greece, it doesn't work here.

southernMAYS, you aren't even in the same universe as the truth.

GM "paid back" their $7Billion "loan" with TARP money from an ESCROW ACCOUNT (read: slush fund) controlled by Tim Geithner.

The TRUTH is that the Obama Administration funneled a total of more that $100Billion of taxpayer money to GM for a 26% stake in the company. The ENTIRE COMPANY is now worth less than $35Billion.

The Federal Government currently owns about 500 MILLION shares of GM stock. To break even, they would have to sell them at $53 per share. The stock price is now about HALF of that amount.

In addition to the $50Billion in TARP money that GM received, they also got a WAIVER exempting them from payment of $45.4Billion in taxes on future sales, along with an EXEMPTION from all product liability claims on vehicles sold BEFORE the bailout. GM also got an additional $360Million of STIMULUS money, not to mention the SUBSIDIES on the Chevy Volt.

At the same time, the Obama Administration STOLE billions of dollars from GM's secured bondholders. That money was funneled to the UAW.

While I'm at it, the Obama Administration claim of "saving" a million jobs is a CROCK. At the time of the bailout, GM had 91,000 employees in the United States. If you ASSUME that ALL of the GM jobs, along with ALL of the jobs at ALL of the GM vendors and ALL of the jobs at ALL of the GM dealerships would have been LOST, it would only TOTAL about 400,000 jobs.

Forbes magazine says that GM is facing yet ANOTHER bankruptcy. This despite the fact that the Obama Admin has been inflating GM sales through a stealth campaign of buying only GM fleet vehicles and giving Federal grants to local governments for the purchase of ONLY GM vehicles.

For those of you who don't run, a 4:01 marathoner insisting he broke three hours is the equivalent of a .220 hitter speaking of a .310 average. It's a retired small-town mayor looking back at his time as a U.S. senator; a dive-bar rock band bragging of once opening for KISS at Madison Square Garden. In this world of ours, there are exaggerations ("She looked just like Halle Berry!"), there are boasts ("Hell, gimme a week in the pool and I'll destroy Michael Phelps!") and there are flat-out, straight-up, no-holds-barred lies.

Here's the strangest thing of all: A 4:01:25 marathon is no joke. OK, Paul Ryan was never going to be the next Alberto Salazar or Rod Dixon. But there's something to be said for the mediocre jock who trains his butt off, loads up on energy gel and fights his way through 26.2 miles. Just as easily as lying, the man could have talked about fighting through the wall at 18 miles; about seeing his family cheer him on from the side of the road; about crossing the finish line and feeling downright (hey!) Reaganesque in the moment.

Truth be told, there's no shame in being average.

There's only shame in refusing to accept it.

Again, again, again - who were the heads of the Senate and House Banking Committees at the time of the collapse in 2008? Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. How many millions in bribes (campaign contributions) did they take to sleep at the wheel while the industry went down the tubes? Dodd took in so much, he didn't even spend it all on his campaign. He profited.

Joe Biden's son? Really? Everyone has forgotten Joe himself, he is so irrelvant. Who cares what his son says? He's even less relevant than his old man.

Beau Biden, serving his country in the military AND through his everyday life working for the people.

Pretty sad that all this is just not good enough for you.

Republican talking point states that yes, President Obama inherited a free falling economy, but he had a Democratic congress for two years and took office in '09. Therefore, he has had plenty of time to fix it. This talking point suggests they know and have the solution for growth. If that's the case, why the heck did the President inherit a free falling economy?

Why lie about something so trivial unless it's just in your DNA to extort, inflate and deceive?

There is no way in this world that ANYone who has completed a marathon would EVER forget his time -- much less be off by an HOUR! Why lie about such a trivial matter? Well, if lying comes naturally, why not.

I ran back in high school and college (shorter distances, to be sure), and that was 44 years ago, and I know my best times (sad as they were). I ran 9.9 in the 100 (yards, not meters), 52.3 in the 400 meters (then called the 440, as it was measured in yards), 2:09 in the half mile (give or take a second or so due to fading memories) and 4:55 in the mile (indoors). A comparable lie to Ryan's would be to claim 9.5, 49.0, 1:59 and 4:15 in those distances. Ask anyone you know who has ever run a marathon what their time was and they will give you an answer correct to within seconds (not minutes and certainly not hours). This is just a revelation of lack of character; nothing more, nothing less.
