CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mitt Romney would be elected president if the election were held today, the Republican National Committee's chairman boldly predicted Monday.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus predicted a Romney victory based on projected wins in several swing states (polls of which are less definitively optimistic for Romney).
"I feel real good that if the election was held today, we’d be winning today. If the election is tied, we’re going to win the election," Priebus said during a press conference today kicking off the GOP’s "rapid response" effort during the Democratic National Convention.
"Independents are not going to suddenly have an epiphany," Priebus continued, "and decide that everything is great."
Pressed by a reporter on which states Romney would win if the election were held today, Priebus doubled down.
"For one, I think we win Wisconsin today," Priebus said of his home state, adding: "I think we win Florida today. I think we win Virginia. I think that we win Iowa."
Priebus said Romney would be close in Ohio, a state he called a "toss-up."
Yet demonstrating the GOP’s not-so easy electoral map in November, Romney winning Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, and Iowa would still leave him short of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, especially if Romney doesn’t carry Ohio.
The GOP will hold press conferences several times daily this week, inside a television studio nestled in the basement of Charlotte’s NASCAR museum.
"Today, the thrill and pixie dust of Barack Obama’s presidency is gone. Americans feel no hope, and have seen a change for the worst," Priebus told reporters. "Democrats are dispirited. Enthusiasm is clearly on the Republican side."
Priebus was joined today by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT). Other officials slated to participate in the GOP effort here include Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

As an Independent----if there was a Republican Candidate of 'substance' with a firm platform I would vote for he/she---------but I shall not vote for Romney, "He turns me off!!"-------I am placing my bet on 'four years from now!'

Romney talks about 1 million more jobs that he can whip up---but my question is, "are they above the minimum wage?"----and, give us the details!!!!--------we all know that it is easy to make promises during an election, "don't we?"

Of course his plans don't create any jobs directly, quite the opposite - he plans to reduce, not increase, the number of Federal employees. Mitt's plan is to cut taxes for the rich in the hope that they'll hire lots of people. Problem is, there just won't that many new openings for maids, butlers, gardeners and chauffeurs.
Worse, the historical evidence is clear that tax cuts for the rich do NOT reduce unemployment. A decade of Bush tax cuts didn't result in a booming economy and a decline in unemployment, quite the opposite. The reason is simple - the rich do not invest that extra money in job creating businesses, they invest it in nice safe Treasury bonds instead - the same Treasury bonds that finance the deficit spending caused by those tax cuts!
Just love the way that Priebus knows how we Democrats feel. Dispirited? Doesn't he wish!!!

Are we better off than four years ago? Depends on who you ask...
· We're better off today becaus we did not get into the full depression and bankruptcy the GOP was pushing us into until Obama got elected.
· We're also better off because Obama has created 23 consecutive jobs instead of losing 750.000 when he took office.
· We're also better off because Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive.
· We're also better off because now we don't have to worry if we get sick, we can get medical care without being denied coverage.
· We're better off because millions of young students can stay in this country to contine to progress and to contribute to society.
· We're better off because, Obama saved YOUR retirements with the stock market recovery! Bush closed the DOW at around 8000, we're now around 13000! Thank You Mr. Obama.
· We're better of because TARP (700B) Got TARP paid back w/ interest! Bush was going to give that $$$ away for FREE!
· We're better off because We're OUT of IRAQ another the mess GOP created!
· We're better off because Obama was on the RIGHT side in Egypt and Libya uprising that toppled more dictators - NO AMERICAN DEATHS!!!
· We're better off because women got the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which Instituted equal pay for women.

Now why would the RNC Chairman claim that Romney would win if the election were held today? I will have to think about that one! Maybe it is because the Republican Party is rapidly becoming known as the 'Party of Lies.'
The chairman forgot to mention one clarifying detail of his "bold" (if not stupid) prediction - the Mittster would win only if Salt Lake City were the only voting place in the nation. Very fortunately that is not the case.
We're "NOT" been better off because with the teabaggers that elected the DO NOTHING GOP controlled congress that did NOT fix anything in the worst ressetion ever.
We're "NOT" better off with the GOP created $16 TRILLION IN NATIONAL DEBT that the Republican't dumped on this country with unfunded "BORROW and SPEND" policies.
We're "NOT" better off with a GOP CONTROLLED congress that wants to continue to PLEDGE to NEVER bring cash to the government BUT to make the rich richer.
We're NOT better off with a GOP CONTROLLED congress that LIED about creating jobs and all we got was voter suppression laws, abortion laws, job obstruction, 500+ filubsters, etc. etc.
We're NOT better off with the GOP controlled congress that attacks public workers - teachers, firefighters, police and others jobs critical to the public, because they want to get rid of unions to lower wages and benefits, and boost corporate profits.
We're NOT better off eliminating regulations so energy companies don't have to spend a dime cleaning up pollution and employers can abuse workers any way they want.
Priebus is such an unlikeable ninny ... much like Romney.
My favorite election campaign moment so far comes from unlikely VP hopeful Paul Ryan, referring to Romney as "Rip Nomney" to Brian Williams after their convention. Priceless.
As I've said all along, Romney is an empty suit and corporate shill who will do little to nothing for the middle class in this country. Obama's bottom-up approach is much more viable than Romney's trickle-down approach. Has this country learned NOTHING over the past 30 years (since Reagan).
If the country will only do away with the Tea Party and social conservative whack jobs that are destroying the United States ... you know, the ones with the 12% approval rating in Congress.
After watching Willard Romney for the past several months and fact checking his statements on a regular basis I've come to the conclusion that this man is either a compulsive liar or a habitual liar, make up your own minds which is better or worse.
Paul Ryan's biggest problem is he read Ayn Rand's books and didn't understand she's a fiction writer. He also never understood her background or her hypocrisy. Anyone who forms an economic plan around the musings of a fiction writer is kind-of, sort-of out there. Can't he come up with his very own ideas ?
Everything Obummer says is a lie, he also has the most tax cheats in history in his own cabinet, I think election day will be a huge Chick-Filet-Moment for the dems.
