CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mitt Romney would be elected president if the election were held today, the Republican National Committee's chairman boldly predicted Monday.
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus predicted a Romney victory based on projected wins in several swing states (polls of which are less definitively optimistic for Romney).
"I feel real good that if the election was held today, we’d be winning today. If the election is tied, we’re going to win the election," Priebus said during a press conference today kicking off the GOP’s "rapid response" effort during the Democratic National Convention.
"Independents are not going to suddenly have an epiphany," Priebus continued, "and decide that everything is great."
Pressed by a reporter on which states Romney would win if the election were held today, Priebus doubled down.
"For one, I think we win Wisconsin today," Priebus said of his home state, adding: "I think we win Florida today. I think we win Virginia. I think that we win Iowa."
Priebus said Romney would be close in Ohio, a state he called a "toss-up."
Yet demonstrating the GOP’s not-so easy electoral map in November, Romney winning Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, and Iowa would still leave him short of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, especially if Romney doesn’t carry Ohio.
The GOP will hold press conferences several times daily this week, inside a television studio nestled in the basement of Charlotte’s NASCAR museum.
"Today, the thrill and pixie dust of Barack Obama’s presidency is gone. Americans feel no hope, and have seen a change for the worst," Priebus told reporters. "Democrats are dispirited. Enthusiasm is clearly on the Republican side."
Priebus was joined today by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT). Other officials slated to participate in the GOP effort here include Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Well, okay, but the election ISN'T today, and even if it were the Electoral College map says otherwise.
But, whatever gets you through the day...
Actually if the election were in say - 1952 or 1852 perhaps, just perhaps, he would win. But even that's doubtful.
According to electoral #'s coming out, if the election were held today, Obama would win and everybody knows it.
More lies.
NDD,
So the GOP will be holding court in the basement of a museum during the Dems convention. And Romney's surrogates will stop by.
Meanwhile Romney is busy getting up to spend for the debates at his lake home. LOL
Just ask James Carville.
The dems own campaign polls show 0bama is toast.
Don't forget that the Debt clock will hit 16 TRILLION DOLLARS THIS WEEK DURING THE DNC
Amazing, isn't it? The RNC says they want a rapid response to whatever goes on during the Democratic Convention.
When you are starting way way back, as Pat indicates in her post...that just isn't possible!
All the GOP needs is serious reality check.
The reality is ... election won't be held today.
If election is held today, the GOP won't win either.
If elections were held in February 1991, Bush senior would be re-elected after the impressive win in the Gulf War, the first since Vietnam.
But Clinton won later in November 1992.
The GOP lives not in today's world, not firmly in real world. They keep looking backward (living in the past), or getting ahead of themselves in this case of GOP chairman Mao.
I wonder if Chuck Todd will call 0bama a token for the democratic convention?
The GOP is a dying political party that is desperately trying to keep its head above water. Unfortunately, the Tea Pary is holding tight to the GOP's last legs and is dragging it down quicker.
Priebus is a 'dirty lying caterpillar'......lol

Silverton,
Love your image of the GOP!
The guy probably feels "real good" because someone spiked his kool aid.
Ha! Sounds like Priebus is doing his best to convince himself the GOP Convention was a success instead of one where the GOP stepped all over itself during prime time coverage. Either that or he partied too long at Mitt's big donor celebration on that yacht with the Cayman Islands flag!
Well, he did say "I feel real good..."
And didn't say that the latest national polls confirm that Romney would win. Because they don't.
So the fact the story is reported at all because someone 'feels' something is actually more sad then this man's 'feeling.'
This is a non-story.
LMAO... not only do they ignore facts, now they are ignoring national polls of likely voters...
I think one word describes today GOP leaders.... delusional..
OK, but...
[Rasmussen]
Voters still trust Romney more than Obama when it comes to handling the economy - but just barely - by a 48% to 44% margin. They have more confidence in the president when it comes to national security, and as for taxes, health care and energy policy, the presidential hopefuls are virtually tied, indicative of how close the race remains.
The bad news for Romney is that he had a 12-point lead on the economy in May, but that advantage has been declining ever since.
Better get hopping on a plan, Romney! People are noticing that the emperor has no clothes!
As for $16T in debt, one thing that was noticeably absent during the Republican convention was any discussion of George W. Bush's two terms in office. Why do you suppose that is? It could be because W. inherited about $5.7T in debt, ran the number up to $11.9T by the time that his last budget expired, his last budget (from Oct, 2008 to Oct, 2009) had a $1.3T deficit AND he trashed the American economy with his dream of turning every illegal Mexican immigrant into a home-owning Republican-voting citizen.
So what we have here, out of $16T in debt right now, is $6T in debt amassed by every president in the 200 years previous to Bush, $6T in debt by Bush PLUS the worst recession since the Great Depression and about $4T in debt accrued by Obama.
ROFLMAO These guys can't even lie to themselves believably. :D
Everyone PLEASE remember that Honey BOO BOO beat the RNC Convention... :-) Says a lot about the interest in the RNC and America. Lot of things can happen between now and election day. Just ask the guy from MO.... lol
Someone needs to tell Reince Shortbus that his guy better be up in the polls in the aftermath of his convention. If he isn't, game over. Better stock up on tissue, baby wipes and Depends for your election parties this November Mr. Shortbus!
The sniveling liberals can't stand it when someone from the right predicts their worshipful master Obama stands a good chance at losing the election. What the liberals can't see is their candidate has nothing to go on. Obama will not address the economy because he knows it's an epic fail for him... he can try to spin that jobs have been coming back... but not nearly enough to keep up with population growth... so for all the touting the liberals do about we've gained jobs... it's no where near enough to stop the unemployment rate from dropping below 8.3%.
When the rubber meets the road, Obama will lose on economics. He can't claim his promises to drop the unemployment rate below 7% held true. So what does Obama have going for him? A bunch of liberals screaming at the tops of their lungs? Of course he can always run on charm... that's a solid win for him, eh? His teleprompter is still working well so he can rely on his speech writers to wow the crowd... much lower crowds than he used to have... wonder what happened to all those people?
What happened to the billion dollars he was supposed to raise? Liberals, you aren't doing your part.

The GOP is a dying political party that is desperately trying to keep its head above water. Unfortunately, the Tea Pary is holding tight to the GOP's last legs and is dragging it down quicker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In reading your comments about the direction the GOP is taking (far right, leaving moderates behind), I begin to wonder whether it is inevitable that the GOP elephant is headed for the Endangered Species List, for there is another socio-economic trend in this country that will also affect them, the shrinking Middle Class. These tend to be mostly center-right or moderate people upon whom the GOP could usually rely for support in the past, but their numbers are now dwindling. Further, many who are still considered Middle Class have lost higher paying jobs and have had to come back at much lower pay, and people living below the poverty level is at an all time high. There have been a number of articles by economists and financial analysts that have pointed out that over the past 20 years or so that more Middle Class income is now being absorbed by the upper 3% of the wealthy in this country, and this is not lost on those who have been adversely affected.
The GOP/TP platform has stressed lowering top tax rates from 35% to 25%, and Ryan wants to eliminate the capital gains tax, a benefit enjoyed mostly by the wealthy, and very little by the Middle Class. I have seen nothing proposed in their agenda specifically targeting the Middle Class problems. This being the case, many in the Middle Class may not be so predisposed to support the GOP as readily as in the past. When you go into the voting booth, it matters not how much money you have, you only get one vote. In cases like me, the GOP has lost one vote they used to get (and no, I have not become a DEM, I still dislike much of their agenda). In other cases, some Middle Class (or former Middle Class) people may actually switch to the evil opposition, the DEMs, which is the equivalent of losing 2 votes. The GOP better wake up and start taking care of the Middle Class, reverse the trend of loss of Middle Class wealth, or they are headed for extinction, or at a minimum, irrelevancy. Remember GOP/TP, Grover Norquist only has one vote.
How much longer will we have to listen to this putz
Reince Priebus, isn't that the name of that dancing horse? I mean, nobody would name their kid that.
Hah! Hah! I Love a Republican in Denial.
Our Obama the "Great and Kind and Merciful"
against Mitt Romney, a known Liar, admitted Tax-Cheat, and a probable Felon, from his infamous Bain Capital years when Romney tried to "RETIRE RETROACTVELY, and got caught by the Press doing it.
No Contest.
You Republicans and Teabaggers aren't just LOSING the ELECTION
you've ALREADY LOST.
Too bad, how sad, I'm glad.
And what's this that Mitt Romney and his "little sidekick" Paul Ryan wanting to start a
THERMAL NUCLEAR WAR with RUSSIA, if they get in, because they think RUSSIA is still the old SOVIET USSR.
Are they crazy, or what?
I saw Priebus talking on tv a good while back, and I had no idea who he was. He talked and sneered like a used car salesman and I felt instant mistrust and dislike for him...curled my lip and felt as if I needed a shower from the sleaze. I didn't see him again for awhile and then I saw him introduced in his new role and thought, "Ewww, I can't believe anyone hired him to represent them in public". Ick.
As for who wins? It doesn't matter who says they will vote a certain way, but instead whether they go vote and how they actually vote.
To the commentator that mentioned Reince Priebus' name, Reince is actually his middle name. His first name is Reinhold. The idiot went with the stupid name by CHOICE.
Clearly Priebus is doing really strong drugs - and lots of them!
Obama/Biden 2012
Preibus (the phallus) is wrong!
According to election polling guru Nate Silver and others...if the election were held today Romney would have a 29% chance of winning!

OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
Just what dank corner of what potato cellar do the republikans get their national chairman. This guy is the best they could come up with? At least Steele was fun to listen to but Priebus, as ram-76258 points out, just comes off as a smarmy whiner.
After the last dark and hateful/wasted four years, how can ANYBODY really think Obama has a chance?? lol
"The sniveling liberals can't stand it when someone from the right predicts their worshipful master Obama stands a good chance at losing the election."
Sure Reince Priebus -- Romney is going to win this election just like the Chicago Cubs are going to win The World Series this year.
They wish, because the more the voters learn about Romney/Ryan, the less popular the GOP ticket becomes.
Just goes to show that the GOP are fundamentally LIARS. Polls do not show this. This show the opposite.
How do you know if you're crazy? If you think today's GOP are centrist and Obama is a left-wing extremist... you are disconnected from reality.
This is Reince Prirbus the Chairman of the Republican Party making this prediction. Nuff said.
I assume he has not looked at the Electoral Vote Count in the swing states. The Republicans are behind in Michigan, Nevada, Hew Hampshire, Ohio, and Wisconsin. They are ahead by 0.5% in Florida, and 0.8% in North Carolina. Projected totals based upon the polls. Obama 303 Romney 235. These totals will not be 1100% accurate because two or three states will flip to the other side.
I assume you could look at that Toss up total of 126 Deligates and say Romney was ahead IF YOU WERE PRIBUS. He said last week that it was OK for Mr. Ryan to lie 80% of the times because it was not against the Constituation to LIE. He also said the Republicans will continue to LIE. It is going to take more than a Lie for the Republicans to win this Election.
you know when you see them, all of them seem to have red swollen eyes, like they have been crying or they have been smoking something to make them feel better!
And, if the election were held today, all the winning lotto numbers would come to me in a dream and I'd win a hundred million dollars. But, sadly, the election isn't today.
Hey, come to think of it, if I won the hundred million, I'd be much better off if Romney did win! In my life, Romney could go from a lying corporate raider to the hero giving me more and more tax breaks!
But, alas, I'll have to do without all that cash, and wait for election day in November when I'll vote for the Presidnet to have four more years to try to drag America out of the ditch the republicans shoved us in.
Inside the Republican Convention building in Tampa
I guess all you liberals are blinded by the economic conditions that for your information is now in the hands of Obama. I don't want to hear that its not his fault any longer. He is the POTUS and has done nothing in the way of offering to bring this Nation back to work. In fact all I keep hearing is how its the rich Republicans and their Corporate Fat Cats who put us here. When you follow the money trail you will see that Wall Street donated more money to Obama's Campaign in 2008 then McCain. Yet he tells you he is on your side. He is on the side of those who will elect him. What he is doing is rewarding those who want to do nothing but whine about how the Rich did this to them. He is a good sales man and probably will do well in the Car Business as a Used Car Salesman. Since he had sold all of you a bill of goods.
Yet you want to say the 5 trillion he has added to the debt is not his fault and if it had not been for Bush he would not have to. Please, he had control of two houses in the first part of his term. He could of achieved many pieced of legislation to put people back to work. Yet even in in 2009 when the Democrats controlled the House they shot it down his jobs bill proposal. Now the Senate is sitting on legislation that could ultimately help us. Yet they do this for political gain. Now don't think I am so naive to not know that the right does the same. We are worse off than we where 4 years ago. Under Obama it won't get better.
Contrary to what many of you say. I don't believe the American people are that stupid to be sold a bill of goods a second term around without any substance from his first promises. I do believe he is going to stay President by using a Natural Disaster or War between Israel and Iran to install Martial Law so he can override the Constitution and take over the USA. That is what will really happen. Watch and see.
If the prosecution of Romney for tax evasion and racketeering began today, Romney would win free room and board in a federal prison jail cell.
There's no question that Prince @!$%# Head and Liar Ryan were stamped out of the same sardine can; neither one will recognize the truth when it dope slaps them.
The Republicans sceme to have a poor grasp on reality.
Romney is going to win because Americans KNOW that Hussein is nothing but a card toting communist and muslim who hates America. His mommie who is a radical loon communist who dropped Hussein off with the grandparents to raise so she could lead her HO life. His daddie was another absentee polygamist commie who just wasn't there for his son Obama and explains why Hussein is so messed up......look at his familial background. He is screwed up!!!!! Romney came from a loving typical American family. Hard for Obama to accept isn't it?
Obama is trying so hard to make his mommie and daddy proud of him by taking down the America they hated that he can't see straight anymore. His parents HATED colonialism. America is definitely quilty of colonialism but it created the greatest country on earth.. FIRE OBAMA HUSSEIN THIS NOVEMBER!!!
Romney/Ryan 2012
Actually there are other polls that say differently, but then again you just cherry pick the ones that support your beliefs and discredit the other side as liars. Just as with statistics, polls can be skewed to either sides benefit - the only poll I'll believe is the one that shows the newly elected president in November - ALL the others don't mean squat except to appease your worries.
LOLZ.....I find this article just LOLZ.....What? So Romney doesn't have the electoral votes but he would win today? They crack me up........Maybe he would win today on that Mormon planet where their God lives....LOLZ....
No you dems have a fear of reality. Gonna get your butts kicked and you just can't handle it. Love it.
"Yet demonstrating the GOP’s not-so easy electoral map in November, Romney winning Wisconsin, Florida, Virginia, and Iowa would still leave him short of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, especially if Romney doesn’t carry Ohio."
Not at all. Romney has pretty good locks on 191 Electoral Votes, so if he got Wisconsin, Virginia and Iowa, along with his good lead in North Carolina, and apparent lead in Colorado, that adds up to 273 Electoral Votes. He could easily win without Ohio.
And since most of the 'Undecided Voters' traditionally 'break for the challenger' (Romney in this case), my personal Electoral Map of Likely Voters shows Romney with 297 Electoral Votes vs 231 for Obama and 1 state tied (Minnesota).
On top of that, Pennsylvania and Michigan are within about 2% or less of going to Romney.
Polls of Registered Voters are very misleading because history shows that they overstate the Democrat's strength by about 4% when compared with actual because Republicans are far more likely to vote - case in point - The final polls of Registered Voters in 2004 showed Kerry winning by 2%, but polls of Likely Voters showed Bush winning by 2% - the actual margin of victory was 2.4% in favor of Bush. Both Gallup and Rasmussen show Romney with a 3% to 4% lead among Likely Voters as of today.
Georgie937 is another example of Republicans poor grasp of reality.
TheSwornNPen79, no we are not blinded by the Republican obstruction of the last 2 years that has brought about a record number of filibusters all in the name of slowing the recovery and blaming it on Obama. Anyone with a brain can see through the Repubifascist lies.
Nobody ever said Republicans could add.
You might be right about your numbers Roy #1.48, but it's Not going to happen,
especially not after Mitt Romney and his "little sidekick" Paul Ryan, Admitted to the World during their National GOP Convention, that thet wanted to start a THERMAL NUCLEAR WAR with RUSSIA.
Are they Crazy, or what?
Our OBAMA, the GREAT and MERCIFUL, and KIND, will easily DEFEAT your LIAR, TAX CHEAT, and possible Future FELON Mitt ROMNEY, who got caught by the Press trying to "RETIRE RETROACTIVELY" from BAIN CAPITAL.
Too bad, how sad, I'm glad :o)
And the award for the most unintelligible post of the day goes to Georgie. (clap, clap)
W., is that you making an appearance? We would like to thank a typical GOP supporter for your hate filled comments regardless of if you are W. or not.
Gallup and Rasmussen both lean right.
Here's what Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight, com had to say when he rated the pollsters:
Calculating 'House Effects' of Polling Firms
Oh, and and Silver says that if the election were held today, Obama has a 71% chance of winning and Romney 29%.
"Romney would win if election were today"
LMAO..people dream everyday..it's part of sleeping!
Old saying..a snowball in hell has a better chance then Romney!
Mike, it's obvious that you spend too much time online. Evidence: your usage of the outdated LMAO. Go outside and see what's really going on in this country.
"So what does Obama have going for him?"
So Briand --- you ask what's Obama have going for him?
I'll answer that. Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and the Republican Party. With the economy in the shape it's in Romney should be up by at least 10 points. But he's not. And why not?? First of all, the Republicans have done just about everything they can do drive every demographic other than old white guys out of their party. Secondly -- Mitt Romney has no solutions. He's telling us he's going to cut taxes, cut regulations and increase military spending. Been there -- done that. It didn't work. That policy caused the worst economic meltdown since the depression. Voting for Republicans to fix this economy makes as much sense as smoking to cure lung cancer.
For those interested in REALITY on the polls, with the exception of Gallup and Rasmussen, virtually all of the other pollsters sample about 25% more Democrats than Republicans in their polling (probably because that was the spread in 2008), which leads to overstating Obama's likely overall support by about 5% because surveys of Party ID currently show roughly equal numbers of voters that identify themselves as Republicans or Democrats. These pollsters are totally ignoring the changes that were made manifest in the 2010 mid-term elections. The reality is that Obama is in serious trouble, but the liberal media is trying to 'shore up' Obama with misleading polls.
If you think I'm kidding, just look at the details of polls by NBC/WSJ, Marist, CNN, CBS, etc. - they invariably sample far more Democrats than Republicans - ignoring current surveys on Party Affiliation. Since exit polls in 2004 & 2008 consistently show that about 90% of affiliated voters vote 'Party Line' for President, this creates a significant artificial bias in favor of Obama.
TheSwordNPen79 - Here you go:
This was the CNN Money headline in Bush's last month of office:
Job loss: Worst in 34 years
Employers slashed 598,000 more jobs in January as unemployment rate climbed to 7.6%.
Here was last month's number from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 163,000 in July.
There's your choice.
The only way the GOP can win is LIE!
Pubis made a funny. It's kinda like when Fox news called the elcetion and said Mcain won by a land slide. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
@ Ray..get your head out of the chit..and breath fresh air!
Sorry, but I just can't bring myself to take anything seriously that a guy named "Reince Priebus" says.
The President is an American. Ignorance cannot refute this fact. I am not better off but the country is. Ignorance cannot refute this fact. VOTE VOTE VOTE
Just ask James Carville.
The dems own campaign polls show 0bama is toast.
Hey Eliot --- James Carville is doing fundraising. He's trying to create a sense of urgency. That's the oldest trick in the book -- make the situation look worse than it is in order to collect more money.
Shhh - Mitt will be taking a $77k tax deduction for him!
If the election were held today, ... it wouldn't count because election day is in November.
RNC chairman: Romney would win if election were today
And we're really supposed to put people this delusional in charge of our economy?
They can't even add.
Whatever we may write today many things remain certain, not many of us want to continue on the current path, national debt will not be repaid for generations, future generations are going to be worse off than we have ever been, and the people who will determine the election outcome aren’t the ones venting their venom on this thread.
One of the two, Obama or Romney, is going to be very disappointed on election night. Not disappointed perhaps, relieved is a better word, as the task of fixing the mess we are currently in is going to be a long and thankless task. As for the winner, Sir, may your sails be always full of favorable winds.
Elliot,
Delegate breakdown by race at the Tampa Republican Convention
White-93%
Hispanic-5%
Black-2%
At the Democratic convention four years ago, 65 percent of the delegates were white, 11 percent were Hispanic and 23 percent were black. The Democratic convention, scheduled next week in Charlotte, N.C., is expected to be at least 40 percent minority.
Who appears to represent the real country we live in?
Romney would only win because of the bogus voter id laws the gop jammed down the publics throat making the poor, handicapped and elderly who previously voted for their entire lives now unable to vote because it was too difficult, too far to travel or cost them money when they have a very tight budget. The republicans did this on purpose to suppress democratic voters because they can't win this or any other election fairly. And you know what the real joke is, these clowns also made the law that if you have an nra membership card with no picture or any info verifying who you are that is just fine step right up and vote. It's not too hard to see who pulls the strings of the gop. And by they way, statistics show you have a better chance of being attacked by a shark in the USA than seeing an actual prosecuted case of voter fraud.
Another Deadbeat Texan "Kinda like GOP leaning Rasmussen GUARANTEED a McCain win by 6 points just 3 days before the election??"
Lay off the intoxicants. Rasmussen called the election spread for Obama by 6% - very close to the actual spread of 7.3% - in fact, they were far more accurate than Gallup, who showed Obama winning by 11%.
Rasmussen has the best record of the 12 major pollsters over the last 2 Presidential election cycles in 2004 and 2008, with an average error of only 1%. And their average 'bias' (comparing the actual spread with projections) was by far the best at 0.3%, which was far more accurate than the Democratic bias for Gallup (3.05%), Reuters (2.55%) and Marist (2.55%). Even FOX News had an average Democratic bias of over 2% - actually calling the 2004 election popular vote for Kerry by 2% - missing the actual win margin by Bush of 2.4% by a whopping 4.4% - favoring the Democrat.
If you want the 'REAL' picture, you would be well advised to follow Gallup (adjusting for the Registered/Likely Voter spread of 4%) and Rasmussen. They both do daily tracking averages of 3 to 7 days), and both show Romney ahead by about 3% to 4%.
Sounds to me that is what he is trying to do to Mitt Romney!
So Mr. President..... Did the past 4 years teach you nothing?
http://www.hapblog.com/2012/04/obama-2008-if-you-dont-have-record-to.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitt Romney for President..... 2012!!
The failure of this president is undeniable. The people are tired of no jobs and a lousy economy and no "change" in sight. Scream and holler libbies, that's about all you have left. The people will elect Mitt by an overwhelming majority because he knows how to be successful and that's what we need. Not some community organizer with no clue.
...and if pigs could fly
RealAmericansFirst "Gallup and Rasmussen both lean right."
Not true. Gallup projected Obama winning by 11% - almost 4% higher than Obama's actual win by 7.3%.
In 2004, Gallup called the election spread as 0% (tied) - again missing Bush's win by 2.4% and biased in favor of the Democrat.
In 2004, Rasmussen missed the actual spread by only 0.7%, the most accurate pollster - biased towards the Democrat (Kerry), and in 2008 Rasmussen missed by only 1.3%. Rasmussen had the most accurate polling average for those two elections (averaging only 1% error rate) - far better than Gallup, Reuters and Marist - all of which greatly exaggerated the Democrat's strength when compared with actual results. Even the Realclearpolitics average of polls had a Democratic bias averaging 1.2% in favor of the Democratic candidate in 2004 and 2008.
The idea that Gallup and Rasmussen are 'seriously biased towards Republicans' is a White House talking point to mask the truth that Obama is behind. The truth will come in early November.
What this guy really means is, if the election were held in the early '60's in the South, Romney would win, because President Obama is black!!
In the 1996 campaign Bill Clinton talked about a bridge to the future. Today Republicans are talking about a bridge to the past -- an imaginary past that never existed.
Sorry Mitt -- Mayberry RFD was a TV show, not a real town and next to nobody ever lived that way.
This guy, Rinse Penis, or whatever his name is, sounded drunk at the RNC convention... and now he puts this out like some braggart in a bar...
"I thwear on my muzers grave that if we thwere elected today we would win!"
Great scientific poll technique you got there buddy.
Roy, when you gunna give up on trying to revise scientific polling techniques... if random calls ALWAYs result in a greater number of Democrats, then maybe that's just how it is. It's not like they're trying to just call Dems. What would you have them do?... keep calling until they get your number?
The words.....dream on.........or wish in one hand, *&*& in the other and see what that gets you, come to mind.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
The GOP is going to have to come up with another swindle like Florida in 200 or ohio in 2004 to even come up close and there are more eyes watching every move they make to even try that crap so they went to the deby minority vote thing. When Obama took office we were headed for a cliff. He righted the ship got us back on course and made this a better nation than the one he found in Washington. This in spite of attacks from right wing trolls even before he took office. No matter who would have been president this round we are still at the mercy of what goes on in all those other country's that bought those bogus securities the republicans let them make up. Nobody in the Republican party would have even come close to where we are now. All this BS they are laying down is garbage. You connot continue all the defense spending cut taxes on people who take home close to 80% of the total income in America and cut taxes on business for round 2 of trickle down economics and pay down the debt unless Romney has 10 paiers of those magic drawers on. Even then it might not be possible. We were headed for a depression cliff. We are now headed in the right direction and there is no magic bullet to get us there and we have a millstone called Europe around our necks. The republicans want us to go back over the cliff we just avoided by using old tired worn out methods that have failed over and over again. Its an easy choice unless you are prone to be pulled around by your nose. take anything these guys say and do some research. Hint the American enterprise institue is not a viable search place and there are many more equally bad right wing lie spots out there.
I see the President has failed a lot from the trolls I guess thats their theme song and its not true. Usually the Democrats can fix the messes that the junior party comes up with but because we listened to them and went with this new world order we are slow to recover. They will not tell you this but it is a fact you can look up. The private sector is near 7% unemployment and moving downward so where is this 8.2% figure coming from. Well here is the clue. Those jobs are being lost because the republican governors also participated in the grand ruse by laying off huge amounts of government workers thats how. Aint they cute.....
From a former republican and current independent - WAKE UP GOP, THE ALARM HAS BEEN GOING OFF FOR 10 YEARS!!!!!
Obviously, this RNC Chair is dreaming, but what do you expect from these head in the clouds neocons who cater to a total of 15,000 Americans while the rest of the base has been whittled away to nothing.
Stop the games!!!
That right there disqualifies the entire statement. Breitbart? Are you kidding?
Two other things: 1) the election is not today, and 2) what do you expect Reince Priebus to say? That his guy is going to lose?
Obama still has his convention ahead, and his acceptance speech is bound to be better than Romney's. He will do what Romney didn't, which is to get more of the voters out than Romney could ever do. Obama is a fine orator, and he will demonstrate it this Thursday.
This article is ridiculous. It's a "duh" moment...
In there dreams!
I have heard some good jokes in my day, but Romney win. HAHAHAHEEE.... this is the best yet !
Very apt that Mr. Priebus would use the phrase "pixie dust."
His comments demonstrate that's obviously what he's been snorting.
I need to see my shrink, or take several blows to the head from a foam mallet, no sane person reads this stuff.
"Priebus"..............sounds like a medical condition that is treated with Viagra?????
It doesn't matter if it is today or Nov. 6, Americans are fed up with the joke of a president. Anyone who loves freedom will not vote for the pretender in chief. He may be a great Socialist, but he is a terrible president. One and done. Say by to the obomination.
TheSwordNPen79... "blinded by the economic conditions?" Um... do you recall how we got here or, do you suffer from short term memory loss? Or maybe it's just "selective memory." I can assure you I remember. It was the previous administration, dummy. Oh, nowI get it! It's the Josef Geobells school of thought: If you repeat a lie often enough it becomes "the truth." Well, as one of my heroes stated: "If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor." Albert Einstein
RealAmericansFirst All politicians lie, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, you name it. Romney lies, Obama lies (proof in how many "promises he failed to fulfill, last count at 576 promises made, 71 achieved). The predictions of who would win today are just that, predictions and media spin. Rather then everyone get their panties in a bind over this news article would you not say it is better to wait and see what happens during the elections.
A lot of things get thrown as Bush's fault, even 4 years into this presidency. You bitch about the wars but in September 2001 you didn't bitch, we all wanted to go to war over the attack on our country. Flip-flop, flip-flop, The new American way of deniability and telling ourselves years afterwards "we didn't want that". Total bull@!$%# and most of us know it!
What would Obama have done if 9/11 happened during his term and what would all of you have wanted to see done?
Hey rnc rocket scientists: In Your Dreams ONLY. Here IS What IS:
What is Amazing is the select few

KingGeorge The VacuumBrained during his NOTORIOUSLY SHAMEFUL Shrubber Reign
2001- 2008. These two Amoral Politaphiles are into Contolling and Manipulating
America in their favor, ACTUALLY Stealing America's economic power.
Research It: These Republican 1-10% wealthy and corporate Thieves have OVER $20
Trillion Dollars Stashed in Overseas accounts in their names and registration
numbered foreign accounts. Money needed for rebuilding America NOT Bloating their elitist "family

allow these small minded, small numbered bigots who accept a blackman in the WhiteHouse, to have their way. Prez O is the ONLY Choice. These Elitist rich Thugs calling themselves "republicans" belong in Prison NOT in Congress or The WhitHouse.Try this one on for size: President Harry Truman in 1948: "The Republicans … will try to make people believe that everything the Government has
done for the country is socialism. They will go to the people and say: "Did you see that social security check you received the other day—you thought that was good for you, didn't you? That's just too bad! That's nothing in the world but socialism. Did you see that new flood control dam the Government is building over there for the protection of your property? Sorry—that's awful socialism! That new hospital that they are building is socialism. Price supports, more socialism for the farmers! Minimum wage laws? Socialism for labor! Socialism is bad for you, my friend. Everybody knows that. And here you
are, with your new car, and your home, and better opportunities for the kids, and a television set—you are just surrounded by socialism! Now the Republicans say, 'That's a terrible thing, my friend, and the
only way out of this sinkhole of socialism is to vote for the Republican ticket.'" And, AND!, AND!!! that was 64 Years Ago!!!. The republicanCrimeCartel is still doing the same exploitation
of people THEY ARE NOTORIUS FOR. BUT, according toKingGeorgeTheVacuumBrained, it is called "free market" capitalism; with families in the streets and 25% Unemployment and worse with MittTaxPittanceRommel and his buddy EddiMunster.

It looks like this guy Priebus, hasn't sobered up yet since he spoke last week at the GOP convention...
Dream on....the GOP is a bunch of dried up old men who think Paul Ryan can bring them
to a win....he is about as good as Sarah Palin.....a real shallow bucket of
a life of privilege...............out here in the trenches guys we (and our children) are
hanging on by our fingernails to a mess that BUSH started......it is time the
rich figure out that the 'trickle down" does not work.................we have a bunch
of disgustingly wealthy people who buy diamond collars for their dogs....and could
give a rats ass that people are starving...................the Republicans have no
clue how far out of touch they are with poor people who cannot afford dental
care or food or insurance..............people are stealing food at the local
grocery for pete sakes..............................we all to stand together and help
bring this country back where anyone can earn a decent wage.
Republicans keep asking are you better off today. Remember what your 401k did during the Bush debacle? Remember how many jobs we were loosing? Remember how many banks they bailed out? If your a Republican I am sure you don't remember. Morons!!!
I want some of what he's smoking!
Unless Mitt is trailing by a large amount I would not rest easy. Florida has a ton of mail in voters, not to mention other issues. Sounds like it is time to remind everyone you know just how dirty Mitt is. How Bain Capital got a bailout from the FDIC and would not be in business without taxpayers. How little he pays in taxes. How John McCain picked Sarah fing Palin over Mitt after seeing 20+ years of Mitt's tax returns, should speak volumes. How Ryan wants to eliminate capital gain tax so people like Mitt can pay 0% in taxes instead of 14%. Why does he and the other rich people get special tax breaks that only they get to use? How the economy really works, why they will never catch up to the Mitts of the world since they have such a head start even if they won the lotto, and are so far ahead of the average person/curve it is not even funny.
I keep hearing people say that the upper couple percent pay the majority of the income taxes, but imagine how much money our government would have if people like Mitt actually paid 35% instead of 14%. Why unless my math skills are bad that would more then DOUBLE the amount of income taxes our government collects atm. HOW CAN THIS BE A BAD THING? /cry Mitt who made 21 million and who should have paid 2.94 mil in taxes at 14% would instead pay 7.35 mil in taxes at 35%. The poor baby would still have 13.65 mil left over AFTER TAXES. That is 262 times versus someone making 52k a year (70k if you consider a 25% tax rate)...how the f*** can that not be enough? How fing greedy can you be, and how can you pay a lower tax rate, but make over 262 times what someone else makes?
How about corporations, imagine if they actually paid all the taxes that they should instead of getting tax break after tax break? I bet small businesses would be better able to compete against corporations if they did not have such an advantage. How is it Capitalism if you are getting tax breaks and being subsidized by the taxpayers? If you are not paying ALL of your taxes (regardless of how "lawful" it is) then you are taking money from the taxpayers to make up the difference and being subsidized. If your industry is being subsidized by the taxpayers then you are not Capitalist and are actually more Socialist. How about not letting banks speculate by reinstating the Glass Steagall Act while we are at it?
The real reason that our government is so wasteful is because of RICH PEOPLE. If they would not lobby so much, create super PACs, and buy off the politicians then there would not be so many pet projects, special tax breaks, special incentives, contracts, etc. Imagine how much more efficient our government would be if we took away "legal" bribery.
How is Romney going to win when he has to take a week off after the convention? Did he need to rest up from all that lying? Mittie reminds me of the dog that could have caught the rabbit if he hadn't stopped to take a p!ss.
Obama 2012/Romney 1040
He's the RNC Chairman. What would anyone expect Him to say? Preibus often acts delusional. He looks something like a "Trusty" assigned to look after the lesser minded in an insane asylum, and that's exactly what He's doing here with this "goofy" statement. When one is among guests, attempting to hide a lap full of others "Shi^^y diapers, it is most mannerable to fart, and beg everyones pardon.
Reince PROMISED that this POTUS election would be DIFFERENT
with a SEVERE CONSERVATIVE such as himself at the helm...
Well it is going to be DIFFERENT
the GOP is on track to LOSE this election like they never have before .
Reince might well be the LAST head of the party, having driven it into the ground at full speed in reverse !
They'll be calling him POSTBUS in Wisconsin after the ship has sunk & all of the rats have jumped .
HOW FITTING that WISCONSIN, where the REPUBLICAN PARTY started
will also be the place where it DIES & is BURIED .....at the direction of a Cheesehead .
A cat's kill will destroy the Tea-Party.
@ray what's going in in this country is not necessarily what's going on with you, your friends and the people you run into. there's a whole world you might be missing. and that will be the only logical conclusion you can come to when obama wins this fall.
On your mark, get set, cue the liberal spam fest!
njofaustin,
There is a big difference between making a promise to accomplish certain things if elected and being stopped at every turn and a lie. When Republicans stand in the way or abandon their own principals in an unabashed drive to take power at any cost, promises not kept become more victims than anything else. But when a candidate repeats false information, even after the truth is made evident, that is a lie.
You are the living embodiment of the phrase "Republicans hear what they are told, but not what was said." Try an independent thought every once in a while, you might like it.
Your comment about the idea that the issues left by Bush should be forgotten becomes laughable when you then turn around and attempt to make some sort of negative point about something that never happened. Bush did happen and history does not happen in 4 year increments .
Brings to mind Linda Blair in the Exorcist.
RepublicansForObama-6186389 "Mitt Romney and his "little sidekick" Paul Ryan, Admitted to the World during their National GOP Convention, that thet wanted to start a THERMAL NUCLEAR WAR with RUSSIA."
The left-wing media must have missed that one, which would have made front page news if it was true - but of course, it's not true.
Were you having a dream, or are you smoking something illegal?
By the way - your 'moniker' fools nobody - you're obviously a Democrat.
Elliott: Gently now. While the number of D & R identifiers may have changed and be changing; there are far, far more relevant numbers. Has there been a statistically significant change in voter identification among registered voters? What about likely voters? Of equal, or perhaps greater important, where do the people who changed party identification live? If more people in Mississippi, Alabama, Kansas, Nebraska, etc. (red states) become Republican identifiers, who cares. Obama was not going to win those states anyway and their congressional delegations are already overwhelmingly Republican. If the data show that in so-called swing states people are aligning more with the Republicans than with the Democrats then that might be cause for concern among Democrats--but only if those folks actually vote and vote Republican.
There is no such thing as a national elections in this country. There are 50 elections, one in each state, plus DC. It is all electoral vote count. Remember Al Gore? 2000 he won about 500,000 more votes than GWB but he still lost the election.
As for Reince Priebus; there is something rancid emanating from the once great state of Wisconsin. Can't tell if it is Priebus or St. Paul "Pinocchio," I ran a marathon in under 3 hours, Ryan.
Public Policy Polling has Obama Up 49 - 46 in Colorado. The poll used 37% Democrats, 37% Republicans and 27% Independents. In 2008 the exit polls show the turnout to be 30% Democrat, 31% Republicans, and 39% Independent.
Being the swing states have lost 79,000 Registered Republicans, lost 800,000 Democrats, and gained around 400,000 voters.
I'm not real confident that the results represent reality. However, On this poll Independents favored Obama 48-41. Obama may actually have a larger lead.
Charlie: That bridge to the past is a toll bridge. You have to pay to get there. and when yo get there you realize that it is the collective figment of 1950s sitcoms.
BoltonBill: does Grover Norquist sound Christian to you? Not me. Grover is the name of a Sesame Street character.
@tackandcover#1.110#Good to meet you. Relative to your post, it is interesting that most of the governing hierarchy of the "red state south" have been notified to be prepared for the re-election of the President. I know first hand, this to be true. I would say the really big financial, corporate, and wall street entities know this also. Note the general editorial stance of the WSJ. I am not so much concerned with the re-election of the President as I am with holding the Senate, and hopefully, at least in 2014, emptying the House of all those goofy republican tea baggers. Good to see you. Best regards
Baahahaha.. as if.
Phantom Beast Dude, what in h3ll are you smoking? According to you everything is socialism. That must be some fine LSD your doing.
Mac Forrester - Lindsey Graham Senator from South Carolina actually said "we need some more angry white men" maybe we can give him some of ours - who are posting here
Old man McCain's bosom buddy is Lindsey
I think McCain has been hanging in for two reasons - 1) he can't find which house his wife is living in and with whom
2) And the minute he no longer has the power to prevent the release of those pesky tapes he made for the Viet Cong - 30 I believe -which earned him the name "Songbird" by his neighbors at the Hanoi Hilton he'll be gone - Hurray!
Just for those that are bored.
Ron Paul 2012 Independent destroying the Republican and Democratic parties in one swoop by winning.
... and if elephants had wings, they'd live in trees (maybe). But since they don't, they don't. And now back to our regularly scheduled reality that continues in progress towards a true count on November 6.
Barbara Adams Jackson On your first point, not sure where you're getting your news or making it up. On point two, read below. Before you read on though it makes mention of President and Secretary of Defense who classified all tapes from Vietnam POW's, not only McCain. President who made the decision was Jimmy Carter (Dem) and Secretary Of Defense was Harold Brown (Dem).
I spent a very long time in Vietnam as a soldier and saw the results of North Vietnamese torture first hand on villagers and American soldiers, only the people I saw were dead from the torture or had a bullet in the back of the head. Some of the techniques used included jumper cables clamped on a mans penis and the other end on his tongue with electricity run through for hours, bamboo shoots stuck under fingernails and toenails, hung upside down in a pit of rats, tied and bound and placed in an outhouse dig to be deficated and pissed on for days and many, more gruesome things too detailed to describe here.
The number of "propaganda tapes" made by McCain and other Prisoners of War has been disputed almost from the time they were first heard.
Remember, the North Vietnamese didn't exactly send cassette tapes to the USA news media. The North Vietnamese Government broadcasted a huge quantity of programs using both AM radio (like we have in the USA) and over Short Wave (International Broadcasting).
Almost all of those broadcasts were intercepted by the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) which was and is an overt activity that is part of the CIA. Other recordings were intercepted by the various Military Intelligence organizations, which sent the taped broadcasts to the National Security Agency (NSA).
The NSA has not released any of their tapes, indeed they have not admitted that they still possess the tapes. Their story is that the tapes were erased some 30 years ago.
The FBIS tapes are obtainable from the National Archives, which has a duplication service and will copy the tapes over to CDROMs in .wav format. They do this for people who want to obtain copies of the Nixon, Johnson and Kennedy secret taping of Oval Office conversations. However, you have to wade through hundreds of thousands of hours of scratchy, low-fidelity and static filled tapes; an impossible task for the casual inquirer.
The Archives are not admitting that the FBIS tapes are "searchable" by the name of the individual making the broadcast. Perhaps this is true, perhaps is it not.
I know for a fact that there exist tapes of Prisoners of War who made statements which were broadcast. The Department of Defense POW/MIA Affairs office has their copy. Whether they ever see the light of day, only time will tell -- and that will be long after you and I are dead and gone.
Now, having said all of that background, you absolutely MUST understand that prisoners such as Captain McCain were tortured incessantly. Every day in their lives brought some type of physical injury, torture and pain and suffering. This was the North Vietnamese way of POW treatment. McCain is only one of many POW's who were tortured and forced to make statements at odds with the US Government's position at the time vis a vis the Vietnam War.
Remember that some anti-war protestors went to North Vietnam and made broadcasts of their own free will. Jane Fonda is one of those. Almost all Vietnam Veterans consider such voluntary acts to be treasonous. I still piss on Jane Fonda (Hanoi Jane) once in awhile when the mood hits and the nightmares are particularly bad. I have urinal stickers depicting Hanoi Jane from the 70's that I random;y stick on pissers and, well, piss on them. Jane Fonda even took notes that POW's gave to her for their families to take home but she nonchalantly handed them over to the POW command before she left, not thinking once about the consequences to the prisoners who wrote them. Some surely died from those simple notes home. BET YOU STILL WATCH HER MOVIES, DON'T YOU? You can still find the stickers on ebay, just look them up.
Oh, Jane apologized years later but no apology can suffice. She should have been shot or imprisoned as a traitor to the US.
It is an established fact that some POW's in the custody of the North Vietnamese acted in a less than honorable manner. Matter of fact, McCain was one of several officers who attempted to press charges against several unnamed individuals whom he observed acting in a manner which was injurious to the other POWs. The President and Secretary of Defense quashed all of those attempts at prosecution. They cited the public spectacle of courts martial which happened after the Korean War POW's were returned by the North Koreans (who also brutally tortured the POW's).
Read up on your history before making such comments. The facts madam, only the facts!
Received this text message from a friend in Eau Claire, WI, a fan of comedian Bill Maher:
"Romney would get the vote if the vote was held today? Is he engaging in magical thinking, again? RNC Chairman Reince Priebus must be getting a real fantasy-inducing buzz from snorting that flying pixie dust he just got from brushing the fur off the Republican Party's new symbol, the White Unicorn!"
njofaustin - When McCain was running for President - Sir - his roomates came forward and said he was named "songbird" I trust them more than McCain
He graduated second bottom from his class and would have been expelled if it was not for his Admiral Daddy and Admiral Grandaddy - explain sir the screw-ups he did I believe on the aircraft
Plus since he had such connections he refused to leave because he knew all the men who were let go had made tapes for the enemy and were called traitors
Plus sir - after being released his wife who had previously been in a terrible accident, was no longer the beautiful model he had taken from a fellow officer - in fact she was 4 inches shorter
Time to move on - so he married the Beer Heiress
The Reagans felt sorry for his ex-wife and hired her
Sorry I have never seen him to be an honorable man
And now he is just a BOMB, BOMB Iran - Figment of his imagination
And cut the crap with Jane Fonda she was twenty-two at the time
Didn't Willard Romney's dad say he was brain washed
By the way I am married to an ex-military man
I never make anything up this guy's life is a sad open book replete with his "say anything to get elected"
I thought 22 was an adult? I will not cut the crap on Fonda. Did you live in that time or were you not even born yet. Did you consider yourself a free thinking adult when you were 22?
Fonda's s#it is not just crap lady. Her crap led to the death of our servicemen, 4 in fact. Dig deeper, you'll find the information. The woman should have been shot at a traitor but her Dem Daddy's money and a chicken crap administration failed to uphold the laws for traitors. Don't get me started on Fonda lady, you will not win. Just ask any Vietnam veteran how they feel about her and all the other "free-thinking" protestors. Married to ex-military, big deal. You want the audio of McCain's scripts and the other 130 I have, give me a P.O. Box in another city to send them too! Listen to them yourself!
Is your husband an honorable man? Fighting for this country is honorable and being a volunteer in our military is honorable. Was your husband busted out or honorably discharged.
BTW, I'm a democrat and I voted for this man in the White House now. I've regretted it since.

You need to learn the difference between a lie and blown intentions because of a failed economy and specific efforts "to make him fail". Lies are when Romney directly misquotes and misstates time after time... and doesn't give a rats ass because he knows his followers will swallow it without question. The lies you throw on Obama are certainly unfulfilled intentions, but is radically different than lies.
Yes we all agreed to go into Afghanistan. We didn't realize at the time that the war and virtually everything Bush did from that point on would be done without paying for it. So what he did was create a mountain of debt that continues today with an annual $500 Billion burn rate... which, when combined with another $500 Billion in lost annual revenue due to his complete economic collapse, means that Obama was $1 Trillion a year behind right out of the gate.
Yep, a fine man, that Bush fellow.
And, yes, let's all blame Obama for not fulfilling all his promises under those conditions. When you consider that not one leader on earth was able to fulfill their promises due to "your man", you might understand why we "bitch" about him.
And your "BTW, I'm a Dem..." doesn't fly.
You need to drop the false drama and think before you post.
I do believe that the GOP asking are you better off now, then 4 years ago, may come back to haunt them. A lot of people remember 2007. There wasn't a downturn in the housing market, there was a collapse. Many American's lost 50 percent or more of their most valuable asset. The stock market crashed, and went from 13,000 to 8,000 overnight. A major investment bank, Lehman's, went bankrupt. People lost trillions of dollars in their retirement accounts. Congress had to wrestle with TARP to bail out the banks, to avoid a collapse of the banking system in this country. Even with TARP quite a few major banks were seized by the FDIC, because of losses from bad investments. I recall economists beginning to talk about a depression rather then just a recession. I also recall towards the end of 2007, first time unemployment claims rising any where from 500,000 to 800,000 a week. Levels not seen since the collapse of 1929.
The economy may not improving a fast as everyone wants, but at least it is beginning to improve to a better level, then it was 4 years ago.
@njofaustin#1.122: Regarding McCain, I agree with "Barbara's" assessment #1.121 of the man. He isn't, and hasn't been much of a man. I was a part of the folly of "Viet Nam". I do not agree that "Jane Fonda's opposition to that war hurt our efforts there. Fact, She was no different from 100's of thousands of Americans who protested our involvement, including the esteemed Senator Fullbright" who stayed in LBJ's face for most of the duration of that mess. To pick Ms. Fonda out of so many, and accuse Her of causing the deaths of some of our Troops is reprehensible, and quite stupid, and I don't give a damn who you claim your source happens to be. There were crazies back then too.
If the election is tied, we're going to win the election - sounds like the GOP is planning on stuffing a few ballot boxes and hacking a few of the voting machines to steal the election.
Best way to prevent "voter fraud" is get rid of the GOP.
So much for Romney's "convention bounce"?
He's the f*cking head of the RNC. Why would anyone even expect him to say otherwise whether he believes it or not?
Would the head of either party ever say that if the election was held today they'd lose? Of course not.
Addendum: There is nothing so pathetic as a pack of "War Veterans" having served, then running around among the civilians yelling about how great they were, or explaining the art of war to It. Didn't used to be that way. Men and women served, some lived, some died, but most kept their horrors to themselves. One goes to war, does everything they can to stay alive, kills as many of the enemy as they can, and hopes to come back home to live a normal life, and manage those memories within the pursuit of that normal life. Doing this does not allow the glorification of the memories of those horrors. One reason I despise the VFW, and so many other Veterans groups, other than those who actually try to help disabled Vets, most just simply run around crowing in bullsh^t, as most bullsh^t toters do.
LMarcT:
First and foremost, I am a democrat and have been all my life. I was born and raised in a steel workers home in Pennsylvania and had Democrat in my genes, however, I'm not an idiot democrat either. I never vote straight ticket. I weigh the qualifications as I see them and vote accordingly..
On your difference between a lie and blown intentions, I perfectly understand that also. But when a politician, particularly a lifelong politician or attorney, judge or even just a plain old blue collar worker is running for an office they will do and say (lie) anything they feel the people want to hear to get the votes. Obama did a grand job of that with so many promises that anyone could see he was biting off more then he could chew. He just articulated it better and really, McCain had no chance from the beginning. It was a race McCain should not have even been considered for.
He knew during his campaign he would be facing that problem but yet he promised to decrease the debt but there again, it has only increased. The Bush deficit was -3.2% when he left office and the lowest deficit from any one president since John Kennedy was -0.1% under Clinton. Obama has an unprecedented deficit of -8.3%. In Forbes he is crowned the Biggest Government Spender in World History and Heritage.Org only replicates that data. Even him imposing a 2 trillion tax hike hasn't helped. Public Held Dept is at 100% and by 2036 it will be 195%. Here's a breakdown:
Public Held Debt: Current 100%, 195% by 2036
Each Americans Share of Public Dept: $36,267, $135,547 by 2036
Unless entitlements are reformed (Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, etc.), 2008 was 2.1%, now it stands at 10.1%
Budget Control Act 2008 was $8 Trillion, 2012 is now $16.39 Trillion.
Interest on all debts exceeds spending.
U.S Debt currently at 65% GDP and on track to be 187% GDP by 2035. In 2008 it was at 25% GDP and has risen to 65%.
in plain English, this country is heading for an economic crisis unprecedented in the history of the world. Checkout heritage.org/federalbudget if you doubt my figures.
With deficit figures like this I do not see how the economy will be able to recover. This country is being sent to the poor house on a fast-trac one-way ticket!
Romney has about the same chance of winning the election as Michigan did in Beating Alabama on Saturday in football.
Vegas needs to have wager lines on elections as England does, so the GOP chair could put his money where his mouth is...
I would wager he would take Obama if that were the case...
Good for ole Rinse, Wash, Repeat.
I think if the election were held today my left pinky toe would win.
My cat thinks if the election were held today his favorite catnip mouse would win.
I have a cousin that thinks if the election were held today a blizzard would wipe out the continental United States.
People can think anything they like. Doesn't mean diddly.
I prayed extra hard and long last night and this morning that God has given us 63 days yet to heal the deaf, dumb and blind like Roy Wilson.
clwyd-2621393 "I prayed extra hard and long last night and this morning that God has given us 63 days yet to heal the deaf, dumb and blind like Roy Wilson."
And the truth shall set you free.
Lot's can happen over the next 2 months, but for those who understand the polls, Obama is in serious trouble. We'll see who's right soon, but when the Independents who will decide this election get ready to cast their ballots, they have to ask themselves "Do I really want another 4 years of THIS, or is it time to try something new?"
When this convention was planned in Charlotte the Obama nomination was going to be at the outdoor Charlotte Bobcat Stadium. And they said "rain or shine" it will be outdoors. But now there is just little talks and comments about there might be thunderstorms so they might have to bring it indoors. The reason is they are scrambling to try and find enough people to fill the 80,000 people stadium. Would they have had a problem filling that stadium in 2008? Not at all. Will they fill this stadium in 2012? Doubtful.
When your platform has changed from "Hope and Change" to "You are better off, you just don't know it" the Democrats are having real troubles............. Just two more months away from the "End of an Error".................
Roy,
Do I really want to go back to losing 750,000 jobs a month like the bushwhacker was losing and now Romney says lets try to same trickle down bush approach. Now Way. God help us from this republican party of doom! It didn't work for Reagan or bush and every economics textbook I've ever read in college says it doesn't work either.
clwyd: Then you must not have read any economics textbooks in college because EVERY college textbook states to grow the economy tax cuts are needed and to slow down an economy tax increases are needed. You also have a very short memory. The Republican philosophy created millions of jobs during the Reagan administration (16.1 million) and even with the collapse of the economy in 2008 GW Bush STILL created a total of 1.95 million (your buddy Obama has created ZERO jobs in the last 4 years).
But let's also realize it was not Republican philosophy that created the collapse. The housing market started the spiraling collapse. Interestingly in 2001 and 2002 Bush and McCain specifically, and many others in the Republican Party, warned that the "relaxed" housing programs from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac created some very risky loan practices in our economy. It was actually Democrats like Barney Frank who stated Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was just fine and Republicans were trying to create a confrontation with Democrats.
Don't take my word for it. Go to Youtube and type in "Bush McCain waring housing" and take your pick which video to watch.
However, Republicans like to look forward unlike Democrats who look "backward" and change the facts as they go along. I don't care what took place 20 years ago, 10 years ago, or 4 years ago. The question is are we moving in the right direction. The answer is a clear - No. So we need a change. And what better person to run the country but one that has run multiple companies. Obama hasn't run so much as a lemonade stand - and it shows. So we need someone who knows how business works. How to get small businesses growing. How to give businesses a country where they can be profitable and then consider hiring more employees. How to get international businesses to consider relocating TO the United States rather than running companies OUT of the United States like Obama is doing.
We tried the "Hope and Change" business but the many that voted for Obama didn't realize that meant "I HOPE I can find some loose CHANGE in the sofa because that is all I have left". We tried the "big government" direction and it has failed - AGAIN!! Funny how liberals continue to want big government and even though it has failed EVERY other time it has been used throughout the world somehow AND SOMEHOW this time it will be different - it wasn't. Same failure as always.
Time to get back to what has built this country for almost 250 years - hard work and sacrifice of small business owners and as they grow the country grows. Because as much as you might disagree they DID build their business.
ProBusiness apparently spent so much time reading his economics books he didn't have time to read his history books. In 1929-1930 as the stock market tanked and the US slid into the great depression companies were closing factories and laying off workers and banks were failing at an incredible rate. Republican President Herbert Hoover gathered his republican economic advisers and came up with a plan to right the economy. Guess what that plan was...Of course! Corporate tax cuts. Well, he couldn't gut the government regulations on business because there weren't any. No FDIC, no SEC, no Federal Reserve,no OSHA, no EPA, nothing. So like all good republicans he decided that corporate tax cuts would give corporations money to hire more workers, make more products and help restore economic activity. What happened Mr ProBusiness?? The American corporations took their tax breaks, put them toward their bottom line and just kept closing factory after factory. History has proven over and over that, alone, tax cuts to business will not work and that private industry alone can not pull our national economy out of a recession or depression. Im' not going to argue economic theory with ProBusiness but I suggest he read a few history books along with those books on economics.
I see nobody commented on my previous about the deficit. let me remind you all:
Come on. let's see some comments about this promise to decrease the deficit!
Hey! J.P.! What's happenin'?
You forgot to finish your sentence! It should read..."And what better person to run the country but one that has run multiple companies...into bankruptcy so he and his millionaire cronies could profit for themselves".
ProBusiness
"doesn't think that the fact that 47 percent of the wealth in this country is controlled by the top percent is a relevant point"
Never mind this is the outcome of Supply-side economic and that there is NO WAY the 2 percent growth per year averaged under Bush could ever sustain economic demand.
Just keep listening to yourself talk Mr ProBusiness.
LOL!!
Roy Wilson,
Gallup O +1 Ras, R + 3. So, you're a bit off favoring the GOP, as alwasy. But much more important are the electoral votes. 221/D, 191/R
It's a hard road for Romney so says the Las Vegas odds makers. 58/41
But you just keep up your spin.... you're really good at that!
Republicans will say whatever keeps their donors happy so they keep giving more and more. It is hopeless. The only thing stopping Mitt Romney's road to the white house is Mitt Romney. That is a pretty big obstacle. Looking forward to the Democratic Convention. I predict their speeches will hit it out of the park. Again I hope Betty White shows up and here is a skit for her:
Betty White comes out on the floor to applause and someone bring a chair out to her. She looks at it and looks at the crowd and looks at the chair again and walks over to it and sits down.
Betty: "What did you expect. Did you want me to talk to a chair?... Really?" She asks the crowd while still sitting. "I'm 90 . . not crazy!"
That would be classic, and hilarious for Betty White to do.
Of course, you know the fact checkers for both everyone giving a speech at the convention are working overtime.
While there may be some strong hyperbole, I don't think Fox will be saying any of the speeches had as many lies as Paul Ryan's speech.
That would be hysterical!
Yes, that would be funny. I hope they just keep it professional and inspirational..and factual, though. No need for theatrics, really. I thought Eastwood's thing was stumbling and silly. You can dislike a candidate and give speeches about him, but really, talking to someone imaginary and giving him speech patterns the real person doesn't use isn't very inspirational. His searching for words was annoying as well in my view.
Great idea Ana!! I would also like to see Obama open a speech with: "Well at least you don't have to ask to see my tax returns".
The Republitards are full of sh!t...
Get a load of this dumbasses:

If a company is filing for bankruptcy, do they loudly announce they are folding? Do banks tell you when they are insolvent? Methinks he doth protest too much.
No, I wasn't making fun of those republican speakers' accents. I did that just now. Bazinga!!!!
No this is what's voteing for Obama and he knows it, but it want work this time.

So do you hate much there Doc! Just what I have been saying. Its ok to be a Liberal and Hate others. Yet don't you dare be a Republican and Hate others. Then your considered narrow minded. Hmm what would you call yourself Doc.
I would say you may need to create a word to describe your drival.
Here's a word: Pathetic. My drival is pathetic and uneducated, but my drival is a persistent drival.
Well, the GOP has to say something positive about themselves; after all the empty chair routine was a bust.
No one else is going to say it for them.
Sounds to me that is what he is trying to do to Mitt Romney!
So Mr. President..... Did the past 4 years teach you nothing?
http://www.hapblog.com/2012/04/obama-2008-if-you-dont-have-record-to.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitt Romney for President..... 2012!!
Sword, Your list fits me pretty good, (except for the second #4, 5, and 6) but I will be voting for Romney. The reason is because of #1, 2, 3, 3 second one), 4 second one, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Obama gives this group one thing and that group something else, while another group gets something different. All people should get the same treatment in attending schools, or applying for anything. Let their skills be the deciding factor, not thier race, gender, sex preverance, other wise it is discrimination of one sort or another. Non of which is good. I also believe that all should pay the same rate of taxes (Say 10%) and that would allow people to give to charites, and the likd of thier choice.
Buy the way your Republican #6. and 10, then to fit Liberials more then Consertives. It was the Republicans that outlawed the KKK and all the values they stood for, It was the Southern Democrats that held the Blacks back in sociaty, and Government rights. It was the Republican groups that pushed for the black right to vote, Look at the house and senate votes in the 50's and 60's to see.
@Doc, You have got to be the biggest idiot I have ever heard speak total non-sense. Gop back to school. You obviously must not be among the educated you say vote democrats. Try using common sense. I know for you that would be a stretch but it may be worth a shot.
obumbo has been visiting alot of colleges lately hoping the "young" people will vote for him again. Doesn't he realize that most of the 08 college crowd has since graduated and now wonder where the JOBS are?? Hope he isn't counting on them again, they are "smarter" now.
Mitt/Paul 2012
The Sword Dude, I don't hate republicans-teapartiers, they are fellow Americans, but I do hate what they have come to stand for: greed, ignorance as a virtue, distorting the truth, destruction of the environment, racism, selfishness, hypocrisy, polarization of congress, and the complete disregard for America's well-being after the recession, you don't care if you wreck America, so long as President Obama only has one term. Yes, I do hate what you guys have come to stand for!! And because you have come to champion these ideas, Romney hasn't got a chance!!
AnaBanana-1782128 (32)
LOVE IT!
You have a great sense of humor and I'm glad you shared it with your comment!
Here's a more reliable Electoral College Model for YOU to consider...
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/ projects
President Obama is still consistently being projected as the winner over
270 Electoral Votes are required to win, so something disastrous would need to happen for President Obama to lose this election.
All indications are that Obama has got this election wrapped up.
SwordNPen... Sorry, pal but, you have it bassackwards. Liberals aren't the party of hate. If you're looking for name calling and vitriol you'll have to look in your own backyard. Read your own posts and you'll see exactly what I mean. "Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools." Albert Einstein
Unfortunately, the election won't be held today. It will be held on November 6; some three weeks after Romney, by law, must file his 2011 income tax return that was due since April 15. His six months of hiding behind extensions will be over, and he has no choice but to come clean before the American people. He'll be exposed for what he really is.
Well Unhappy the past 4 years certainly taught me something.
1) It's ok according to the Republicans, when the country is in trouble to make their priority making the new President a one term leader instead of focusing on solving our problems.
2) It's ok to filibuster everything the president suggests even though he puts forth ideas that you originally championed only because it comes from this particular president.
3) It's ok to put party ahead of the people who elected you.
4) It's ok to come to the table with the POTUS and disagree with everything and not find a compromise for the good of the people. Then when he goes ahead without you scream partisanship.
5) It's ok to speak out against something, oh say like the automobile bailout, then when it works have the balls to take credit for it.
6) It's ok to lie and lie and lie again no matter what, even if it's on tape to get what you want.
7) It's ok to openly disrespect the President, I'm not talking about disagreeing with him, disrespecting him and his family. Whatever happened to respecting the office no matter who was in charge? And why is it it's ok with this particular President and not others?
8) It's ok to alienate voters by making new laws at the last minute that disenfranchise a portion of your opponents supporters. Which says a lot about character and the fear the republican party has if the election was fair.
And finally the biggest thing I learned as an independant in this country is this, I used to have respect for Republicans even though I may not have agreed with some of their ideals. Republicans of old were learned people who could argue their case in front of anyone. But not todays Republicans, they can barely hold up their own in a discussion unless it's on Fox news where they know they won't get the "hard" questions. I've lost all respect with republicans nowadays, and that's too bad.
Yea I bet republicans WISH the elections were today, what with not all voters having their ID cards yet in some swing states and, of course, no debates yet. Lets see how your businessman does in the debates, that ought to be interesting.
Oh and for the record, yea I'll take some constitutional law professor over a self serving, silver spoon fed businessman any day. You see the primary duty that any elected official has, especially the POTUS, is to defend the constitution not the corporate bottom line.
Good luck guys, you still have 2016 so get ready for it.
flocker: not only is your drivel, drivel, it is misspelled three times
Kevin: "Nonsense" is one work, not 2 words separated by a hyphen. You need to go back to school far more than Doc does.
The Betty White thing is flat out hilarious. But, The President needs to be presidential. You know, Vince Lombardi: "when you get to the end zone act like you've been there before." This is not SNL. No cheap theatrics. Keep the mud-slinging to an absolute minimum. No dog on cars jokes, no tax return jokes, no Paul Ryan attacks. Do your business, keep the surrogates under control and get out of town.
For future reference it's probably not wise to call someone a name that implies they are stupid when your education has been so poor you do not know that "a lot" are two words.
Just sayin'...
Doc: You went through GREAT length to show your hatred to others but one thing that was quite clear - you didn't list the most important items such as:
1) National Debt
2) Stagnant Economy
3) Unemployment above 8% for 43 straight months - and projected to rise
4) 1 in 7 on Food Stamps
5) 1 in 6 in Poverty
6) 50% of college graduates cannot find a job in their field
7) Housing market still stagnant
8) Price of gasoline the highest it has ever been for Labor Day weekend - and rising
9) Lowest labor participation rate since the 70's
10) Highest percent of people unemployed more than 6 months since the Great Depression
I think the people in this country will find the above list a lot more relevant, and truthful, than your list of hate. Keep hating all you want but MOST people think the survival of this country is the most important topic - sorry that you don't think so.
Politically Priebus is still riding the little "Blue Bus." This "Crazy Conservative Coward" was politically afraid to debate Chris Mathews. Mr. Mathews was sick and tired of hearing the "Conservative Garbage" being "Super Spewed" by another "Gross Odd Person" (GOP). Again! Priebus is obviously "Cognitively Confused" and is "Spewing" without knowing all of his facts. Again!
Having once lived in W for a long time (too long actually) please remember that Rancid Priebus is simply the current RNC attack dog. It is his job to throw out any and all attacks, rumors, innuendos, distortions, and pure BS as possible in the hopes that some knucklehead will believe it and vote for E&R.
tackandcover - I really like Michael Steel and can't imagine why he is a Republican
They thought it was a good idea to elect a black dude and when he wanted to be inclusive they threw him out
If this is true, then 50.001% of the population of the US is unbelievably stupid. But, like most things that come out of the mouths of most GOP candidates and spokespersons these day, it is not true. But what else is new. Hearing Republicans lie is just about as common an event as a sneeze.
RNC Chair: Says who? Oh I forgot: says Rasmussen. Ahhhh that solves everything now doesn't it.
Gallup up by 2 for President Obama.
NBC-Time-AP President Obama up by 5.
Next.
And thats my opinion.
That was a blowup, and everyone knows it, including the RNC.
http://news.yahoo.com/clint-eastwood-gets-cut-romney-rnc-video-203935058--abc-news-politics.html
I know. It hurts. Everybody hurts . . . sometime.
Ahahahahahaha!!!! I have seen many posts from right wingers praising Eastwoods dramatic debate victory over an empty chair. But seeing the RNC disown it? Priceless. Undoubtedly the hot topic tomorrow morning around the water cooler. More proof, piled upon a Mt. Everest of a week, that this guy couldn't order a pizza without screwing it up. This, in a favorable atmosphere with no opponents (except Clint, who bravely faced off with a chair)? Are you freaking kidding me? Can you imagine Romney in front of a hostile foreign leader? He'd first have to try to figure out if he should insult him (London) or foment war (Israel) or just keep his mouth shut and no Polish jokes (Poland for your rwnjs following along).
Electorial Count projections Obama 303 Romney 235. I assume Reince can't count.
I guess you agree with Obama then. Well all you liberals are going to be in for a wake up call. Your Messiah is not infallible or unbeatable. Unless he does what I said he will do.
Thesword
You're right, we do agree with him most of the time. He's not always right, and he's not infallible. BUT he is better than wha the GOP has. From the little they tell us their plan is just exactly what got us here in the first place. Only on steroids.
To be honest, I think the economy will recover no matter who is in the White House. Congress is more important and we know how they've been doing. But inspite of that the economy has improved.
I worry much more about foreign policy. And frankly Romney flat out terrifies me. Add to that the fact that President Obama has restored America's integrity in the world I would say the President certainly has not just an edge here, he has a steamroller. And if you don't think what the rest of the world thinks of us, better rethink. We can't stand alone. And after Bush, nobody will follow us in any endeavor.
No, Romney is bad news for America.
Unhappy-1583758... Here are some ideas. I can't say they're really fresh though 'cause I believe they've been used before:
"Corporations are people." The U.S. Supreme Court
"Corporations are people, my friend." Willard "Mitt" Romney
"Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." Benito Mussolini
Be careful what you wish for 'cause if you think you're unhappy now...
Yes they are and getting dumber every day. Just look at the lineup of TV "reality" shows. I'm not sure what's lower than the "lowest common denominator" but that is the mentality being appealed to by TV & Priebus. If you cannot fit it on a bumper sticker or if it is longer than 140 characters; too bad, so sad.
We don't have Messiah's on the left. We have freedom of religion.
The lies continue..
Brad... There are only two things I don't like about "Mitt" Romney... his face!
Sam,
Hah! I'm embarrassed to say it took me a while to get it. :)
Sam (#5):
Excellent!
(I agree with Ana!!!!)
Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do!
Hey Sword: Not only do I not have a messiah, no one is infallible; not even ye olde pope.
Thus speaks the private executives office mouthpiece. If we say it enough, it must me so. Private industry bankruptcies, looting of pension funds, crooked capitalism and theft of depositor money from the banks, ad nauseum, while the execs get their quarterly bonus for leadership and vision. Kind of reminds me of the dark vision of Biff in "Back to the Future".
Wow! If the RNC predicts a victory, it must be so. Ignore the most lyingest political party since 1934. They really mean it this time.
OBAMA/BIDEN if you want someone believable, relatable, and even sane.
Romney 1040
Yeah not only does he need to submit his 1040 but he'll take us back to the year 1040.
Sounds to me that is what he is trying to do to Mitt Romney!
So Mr. President..... Did the past 4 years teach you nothing?
http://www.hapblog.com/2012/04/obama-2008-if-you-dont-have-record-to.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mitt Romney for President..... 2012!!
@IMHO pull your head out both, sides lie. The real question of the day is are we better off now than when he took office. The answer is pretty simple and based on facts. NO. If you think the answer is yes tell me how using facts and numbers published by the government. I watch those numbers every week and I can tell you for a fact that the job creation right now is not even keeping up with new job entrants. Bottom line is Obama wants to spend a lot more and pass that debt to our grand children. We have done that long enough. Its time to stop being a bunch of selfish cowards that never take responsibility. When will Obama take responsibility for his actions?
Unhappy-1583758 (#7.2)
First of all, It's "Did the past 4 years teach you ANYTHING?" NOT "nothing." You must have taken advantage of the "No Child Left Behind Act" ....................
The past four years have taught us to make sure we don't have a Republican President...and also that we'd better be sure that the Republicans lose seats in the House as well as in the Senate.
Kevin--you "watch" the numbers but can you see anything? Yes job growth is slow, far too slow for everyone's tastes. But slow job growth sure beats bleeding out 700,000 jobs a month as we did during the last days of GWB's reign of error. The Dow Jones the day before President Obama took office was 8,077. Today it is 13,090. OBL is dead, the mistake in Iraq is over and Afghanistan is winding down. Personally I'm doing better than I have in quite a few years. The company I own a piece of had a decent 2010, 2011 was even better and 2012 is even better yet. That's just the economic side of things.
R&R have absolutely no foreign policy experience. Romney's pedaling a bike around France for two years on his Mormon mission and avoiding service in VietNam does not count. Laugh all you want at Joe Biden, but he brought considerable foreign policy experience with him from his days as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. And he backed Biden up with Hilary Clinton at State.
Now on to R&R on social issues--you know abortion, welfare, aid to the poor, etc. Even the Catholic bishops, not my favorite group by a long shot, has said that Ryan's social views are not in keeping with the traditions of the Catholic church. Remember, Paulie likes to think of himself as a
Catholic.
Sorry, Kevin, but when your not only look at but actually see and understand the numbers, there is not a lot of upside for R&R.
The Rass tracking poll has Obama only +1 with women while Gallup is +10 as are all others in then+10-12 range,
That alone makes the race Obama +1 like Gallup.....
And Gallup has been Obama 47-46 for 7 straight days now ....hmmm
You know, I aced statistics- and I have no idea whatsovever what you're talking about. I suspect you have no clue, either.
Allow me to explain Priebus' statement- they have actual statisticians look at the cross tabs of the polls, factor out the house effects, weight for the actual electorate, and -viola!- Romney is leading handily.
It's called regression modeling. Anyone who took stat in college can do it. Why is it even necessary? Well, As Yogi Berra would say, "It's deja vu all over again".
http://cgi.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1996/analysis/back.time/9609/15/
Dig deep into why all pollsters got THAT election so wrong, and you find the same issue you have today- wild over sampling of democratic voters.
I don't have an answer for any other network- but this one got mega-stimulus bucks, so OF COURSE they are skewing their polls to pump Obama.
With their viewership,it's their only hope of staying alive.
No Joe,
[OF COUSE they are skewing their polls to pump Obama]
Since the candidates have their own pollsters why would any polling group oversample Dems and think they are doing the President or Democrats a favor?
I’ve asked this of you before. It would be to Romney’s advantage for those liberal pollsters to oversample Dems. Please tell us you conspiracy on this.
Seems to me the only ones skewing the polls is Rasmussen but then we've come to understand and expect it from them.
Uh, Dennis? We are not talking about internal pollsq, but published, network polls.
NBC got big stimulus bucks.
NBC over samples democrats in their polls.
See the connection?
Does not alter the election results. Does buy them some cred from the Obama administration.
Sucks for the taxpayers.
njnbnj,
First, pollsters do not weight for party identification because that is something that can be changed by choice an infinite number of times. They weight by demographics because it is data that is inherently built in to the random sample that is gathered.
Second, if you want to see accurate regression modeling with explanations on a daily basis, head over to fivethirtyeight.com where Nate Silver has a detailed regression model based on public polling data. He does exactly what you are talking about. The model also has a "NowCast" for if the election were held today and a projection for Nov. 6.
Given the partisan favor that you typically show I fully expect you to not believe a word of it though in favor of your own alternate reality.
Nate does not do regression modeling. He weights for the accuracy of polls AFTER the election results. He and I have had back and forth over this many times- his answer is always the same- garbage in, garbage out.
It you really want the explanation for this, talk to Nate. He is a statistician- loves them- but he will not change his models because it is far too complicated.
If you had to build them you'd know what he is talking about.
njnb--if you really are in my home state of NJ, please leave immediately. I'm really getting worn out defending the place what with Chris Christie, Snookie, JWoww, Mike the Situation, the Real Housewives and all the rest.
Nationwide polls don't really mean all that much. Give me 50 state polls so I can determine the electoral vote count. The rest is irrelevant.
Priebus is the stupidest man in politics. The only reason that he is head of the RNC is because the GOP has gone collectively crazy.
Sueb1... They can't help it. Their party has been hijacked by The Teabaggers. BTW... why would anyone name their party after some of the biggest thugs in the history books? Oh, wait... I think I just answered my own question.
It's interesting to see that all the posts from the Democrats lack facts, but are full of name calling and ideological propaganda.
Just ask yourselves: ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN 4 YEARS AGO? The answer from the Dems is usually, "No but it could have been worse". Yes, it could be worse, re-elect Obama and you'll see it!
Mitko Pitko (9.2):
Apparently you have selective hearing..........don't want to face the facts I guess.............
If you aren't better off than you were four years ago, it's because it's going to take us another four years + to get out of the hole that GWB got us in to.
Sueb1 and Jean321... Do not argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
SueB
Reince won the job because he reversed the Republican losing trend in Michigan. That is why democrats hate him so much. But I will tell you, I don't think the man is brilliant so much as the Democrats have far overplayed their hand.
Rasmussen, now there's an unbiased poll (NOT). The electoral college map still favors President Obama.
Have you seen this little Pip-squeak Priebus speak, what a whiney little girl. No doubt he got pushed down and his lunch money taken on his way to school. Perfect guy for the tough talking Tea-Tards Ha Ha
The Boob of the Year Award, yes. The Presidency, no.
Have a nice day.
He is every bit as delusional as the rest of his party.
Fools! Go with the ONE predictor, that has ALWAYS been correct at calling the presidential elections. VEGAS!
Casinos in Vegas (or anywhere in the US) don't post odds or take any action on elections, sadly.
However, over in England that's not the case.Check out the William Hill organization, one of the UK's leading sportsbooks. There you'll find the Presiident a 53/47 favorite.
So, there you go, all of you right wingers who truely believe Romney has a shot. If you have the courage of your conviction, make a huge bet and clean up.
As we say in Nevada....a little less talk and a lot more action.
Yes, the casinos have off-shore betting houses. The president is an average 2:1 favorite in ALL betting houses! I can't post the links, but you should know how to get there. Find one ... just one, that has Romney winning, straight up.
Yeah, I watch the oddsmakers more than polls. These guys done lean left or right, they lean green (meaning money). And currently it's right at 2-1. The couple of sites I look at use the electoral college to predict.
I find it interesting that a large number of republican states went from deep red ink to operating well within the black in their budgets and lowered unemployment. To the clueless that should say something. I guess you have to be a independent to have the crap wiped out iof your eyes. If Obama had done a better job this election would be a no brainer. But he spent the first two years on a healthcare debate that used up all of his political capital which he paid for at mid term.
Our state is also mainly republican and our state is at 4.3% unemployment rate. What is different you ask. 1. We balance our budget. 2. We have a rainy day fund to help when times are tough. 3. We know how to keep cost low and help business.4. We do not live outside our means.
All it takes is common sense.
Adler,
Rasmussen uses the mix of voters that voted in the previous same election. That is hardly biased. When I see a poll that oversamples democrats by 6 - 14 points over republicans when the real margins of difference are any where from -1 to 4 points, I would call that being biased. What I can tell you is Quinnipiac, Public Policy Polling, and the Flea bag democrat poller Fox recently switched to are doing this on a very regular basis.
Reminds me of the closing days of the Russian front. Hitler would go into strategy meetings and freak out if they dared show him the real number of soldiers left fighting after the Stalingrad losses. So the generals would add fake divisions to keep the Furher calm.
:) maybe... but, it's not.
Why let facts interfere with a good prediction.
I hope those are the same polls that were used in Wisconsin. They said 7 points spread, in fact it was more then 20. There will be some more jobs numbers, and summer layoffs are about to hit. The question will be if the Unemployment numbers will continue to head back up. I seem to remember Obama saying we would be enjoying 5.5% by now. I sure miss the 10 trillion dollar Debt, and the 4.7% unemployment, Ahhh, the good old days.
Unemployment was 7.9% at the end of Bushs term and increasing by 760,000 a month. Ah, the bad old days.
I'll give Priebus this much - he is a blowtorch of wishful, optimistic thinking. Guess that's his job. But right now, credibility is NOT his strong suit.
The RNC Convention will be remembered only by the Clint/Grandpa Simpson Empty Chair and nothing else.
I say quit hitting the bottle, like your speech, your rambling again old Rancid, if the election were held today, even before the DNC convention, Romneyhood and lyin Ryan LOSER"S!
Why wasn't Michael Steel not invited to RNC? It would have helped with your minority count, might have been a decent thing to do, since he was chairman before Rancid.
Obama/Biden 2012 forward never back!
Wishful Thinking
From the article above:
Nice talking points, Reince.
Is that what Karl Rove and Frank Luntz TOLD you to say?
I hate to break it to you, Reince, but Democrats, Eisenhower/Reagan Republicans, and Independents, are voting for President Obama.
The MAJORITY of Americans, know for a FACT, that it's the REPUBLICAN controlled HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that has FAILED America.
The MAJORITY of Americans, know for a FACT, that it's the REPUBLICAN POLICIES that has FAILED America.
You and Mitt got NOTHING, Reince
We Democrats have NEVER had more SPIRIT, NEVER had more ENTHUSIASM, and NEVER been more SUPPORTIVE and FOCUSED then we are NOW, and for NOVEMBER.
Tell Karl and Frank, they're FINISHED.
We GOD Loving, CONSTITUTION loving, FAMILIY loving, and MIDDLE-CLASS loving DEMOCRATS WILL WIN IN NOVEMBER.
Salud.
Is that your photo Tomas because you look like the "Most interesting man in the world".
Thanks for noticing!
Stay Thirsty, my friend.
Salud
Yes, Tomas, your post is wishful thinking. And lacing your sentences with bold caps to emphasize your moronic points is humerous... What a hack!
Tony D... "Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools." Albert Einstein
Tomas , I noticed the "Most Interesting Man In The World Look" some time ago, but no matter.
Disregard TonyDaPony criticisms about using caps and bold and such. The lobotomized Righties are green-eyed with jealousy for anyone who shows any creativity in their comments. You got style and they don't. Stay with it, and try some
from time to time, because they really like that!
Thank goodness the election is NOT today.
After the myopic choice of Ryan, and the silly stand-up of Eastwood (which stole Mitt (dog-on-the-car-roof) Romney's thunder), the TEApublicans do NOT deserve to win in November.
Voting for the poster-boy of the GREEDY TOP 1% is One Foolish Idea!
Vote OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 and ANY non GOP candidate down the ballot. He deserves to be given the chance to finish fixing the economy after the 2nd GOP (almost) depression, with a LOYAL minority party to boot.
I am a republican I have no idea what electoral map he is looking at. Florida, Iowa, Ohio, and Pennsylvania would go to Obama today. I also no one thing. It will be the first election since George Bush Sr. I will be voting outside Republican. Gary Johnson will get my vote because I woke up and realize Romney and Obama are of the same cloth.
Romney is a RINO. Heck, Ryan is a RINO if you look at his actual voting record. Gary Johnson is the only bona-fide Conservative on the ballot this year.
Gary, has more of a chance of being elected president of Cuba, then of the US. The fact is either Obama, or Romney will be the next president. The Population has to decide if they want to continue on the same course set by Obama and Reid, or to chart a new course with Romney and Ryan. Looking at the two choices, Obama will be more liberial and Romney will be more concertive. A vote for anyone else would be giving the election to Obama. The country has to decide is making a statement, worth another 4 years of Obama. For me it is not. I look to the Constitution, and which one Obama or Romney would follow it more. I have seen what Obama thinks of the Constitution, and can only guess at Romney. I can only look at his past record of conduct. While not my First choice, I can vote for Romney knowin that at least he follows the ideals more closely then Obama does. On a scale of 1 to 10, one being Concertive, and 10 being Liberial, I would say Romney is a 4, and Obama is a 10. I just hope Indepndants look at both closely and make the right choice, because it will be them that decide the future of the country, as they did back in 08. The issue will be, do they feel they made a mistake, or the right choice back then. If the 10 election is factored in I would say it looks hopefull for Romney. (just look at Wisconsin that was suposed to be soo close, right up until election day, then it was over quickly. )
Just two words for you "spell checker"......
I say GO for it; all you right wingers vote for Johnson. If enough of you do it you might elect him.
Shades of the 2000 election, don't be surprised if this one is stolen out from under your noses. There is one good haul left to steal before the corpse of what was once the US is abandoned and left to rot, so you'd better believe that the vultures will come in to dine....
300Michael
You say you can vote for Romney 'knowing' he will follow the Constitution. Can you tell me why you think that? After all he hasn't said much and he doesn't have the 'past record' you dislike? So what makes you think he would?
As for following the Constitution I also have to ask are you a strict Constitutionalist? Or do you pick and choose the parts you like? Do you believe every citizen has the right to vote? Do you believe in equal opportunity or do you give it lip service?
If you vote for Gary Johnson.whomever he is your wasting your vote. At least vote for a viable candidate that has a chance. Apparently you don't take voting seriously. I don't know who said it but read it and try and understand it. "I vote as if my ballot alone decided the contest. I may lose my preference, but I will not throw away my sacred vote. For within the booth I hold in my humble hand the living proxy of all my countries honored dead."
Every republican supports the constitutions right to bear arms amendment but pretty much want to ignore every other part of the constitution.
Dsb, I can look at Obama's record, And i don't like it. He bypasses Congress to make laws and fails to uphold laws that the Constitution says he took an oath to do. The number one responsibility for the Federal government is to protect the Us and it's citizens. Yet he fails to protect the borders. He gives rights to criminals, Crossing the border and not carring proper documents is a crime, in this country as well as every other country in the world. (just try doing it in Mexico). The President is charged with upholding the nations laws, and not picking and chooseing which ones he will inforce, and which one he will discard. It is the Congress duty to make laws, not the President.
As for Romney, I didn't like his Romneycare, but the people of Mass. voted for it. so they do have the right to have it. It was not forcing other states to adopt it. Obama, and the Congress passed it (actually some states got opt out of it as part of thier agreement to vote for it. ) The Jobs issues should have be more of a priorty for Obama. he should have done what he said by getting rid of useless regulations, and developing a fair tax plan. Romney's State Debt was eleminated, while Obama's grew. Obama promised to make Government more open, instead he closed it down (Fast an Furious) instead.
Every Citizen has the right to vote, not that at times I wish it were not so, for example if a tax hike for schools is an issue, people who have to pay for it (homeowners) should have the say since thier taxes will go up, Renters, and non owners don't get a property tax bill.), as Alexander Hamilton wanted, but the way it is all citizens have the right. Even the rights have restrictions, like criminals do not have the right, until they served their time. The same goes for Free Speach, you can not incite, or yell "fire" in a enclosed room. I also have to deal with the programs like Social Security, and Medicare, that are not listed as rights the Government has to create them. The Same goes for the Federal Department of Education. Which is actually a right given to the States. (hence the property tax to fund it). But the Federal Government had taken that control from the states. Every person should have the right to apply for any job, but they do not have any right to get it. As Company is in business to make a Profit. If they don't they are not in business long. The Company has the right to find the best qualified person to get a job, (it is in their best intrest to do so), The Government should do the same. I would like to see that everyone get the same test, but not use names, the test should just have a number, and the best test should be hired, by finding out who has that number. The only problem is people are not created equal, some are faster runners, some are taller, some shorter, some look better then others, life is not fair. In the Olympics we do not let the slower runners have a head start, over the faster runners. Why should some groups get padded SAT's or ACT's We can try to make things more equal in schools, but again, some teachers teach better to some students, and some are just bad teachers. You can let the parients choose the schools they want their children to attend, but some fight that idea. competition is good for business, why not in schools? The questiion become how much do you spend to try to make things equal, which in itself is not equal, if the same money is not spend for each school. Then you have the cost differance in cities, the cost of a building in New York City will cost more the in St. Louis. You get my point.
Voting for anyone but Romney is a vote for Obama! Are you better off now than 4 years ago? Do you want to get unemployment benefits, or a real pay-check?
@MItko Pitko, 4 years ago the Stock Market was in free fall. The Dow had plummeted to around 6,000. We were bleeding jobs all over the country. Was the worst recession since the Great Depression. I state that as fact because I've been around for a while and have been through a few. We had that $750 BILLION bailout for the banks so the US would not fall in to an abyss, or we were told. It took a long time from when Obama took office for the country to stop hemmoraging jobs. We have had growth, but not as fast as some want. However, the Market is over 12,000. So Corporate America is killing the workers they already have, and making maximum profits. So, yes we are better off than we were 4 years ago when we did not know whether this country would survive or not.
Are we better off than 4 years ago?? If we consider a deep recession and depression in several area of the country that was handed to Obama from the Bush administration, I would say we are remarkably stable considering a collapse should have occurred by now.
Independents vote 1% NOT 99%. Sorry, GOP...
Wow, he's been hitting the right wing kool-aid pretty hard. My concern is, when Obama is re-elected, if the Repugnicans gain control of the Senate and maintain control of the House we are in for at least two years of absolutely NOTHING out of Congress. They will stonewall and drive this economy further into the dirt if it means making the Dems look bad so they can get Jeb Bush in there in 2016.
We need to throw the Tea Party O.U.T. and give Obama a fighting chance to get things done.
BS......No I don't believe Romney would be President if the election were held today!! Everyone now knows the Truth about Romney!! He is nothing more than a Religious Racist and Liar!! Romney can't help being this way, he was raised that way in The Mormon Church!!! The Mormon Church still teaches that All African American People are A Cursed People. They believe this is Biblical...and the GOP know that they teach this in the Mormon Church that's why they agree with the Mormons, because they have a long record of racism!!! I believe that the; GOP + Romney (The Mormon Church) = The Largest Racist Hate Group In America!!! Lying Ryan is nothing more than A Liar!! Haters!!!
To be fair, the Mormon church (LDS) did have a revelation of convenience that officially ended their embarrassing racist policies. Problem is, it's still a predominantly lilly white Caucasian church, and it's founder, Joseph Smith, wrote a subtle racism into their "Book of Mormon" scriptures.
Ryan's problem is more immediate, being a disciple of Ayn Rand and her "greed is good" anti-christian philosophy, and being a fluent prevaricator.
