In Ryan's home state, Biden delights in trains, football and taking on Ryan

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Just a typical day in Bidenland: The Green Bay Packers, historic trains, and slamming Paul Ryan on Bowles-Simpson.

Appearing in GOP vice presidential nominee Ryan's home state Sunday afternoon, Vice President Joe Biden rattled off his knowledge of the hometown team's greats while admiring the artifacts at the National Railroad Museum, where about a thousand supporters came to hear him.

"Whoever set this up hit a soft spot in my heart," the famously frequent Amtrak rider said, standing with a Pullman car as a backdrop. "I’m the biggest railroad guy you’ve ever known."

Vice President Joe Biden speaks during a campaign event at the National Railroad Museum on Sunday in Green Bay, Wis.

Noting his Catholic schooling under a Packers-loving order of priests, Biden joked with the crowd heavily dotted with green and yellow team apparel, "In our school, it was the Father and the Son and Vince Lombardi."

But the meat of Biden's campaign speech Sunday also offered a new attack on Ryan's claims that President Barack Obama ignored the recommendations of a bipartisan commission he created to address the nation's staggering deficit in 2010.

"What he didn’t tell you is he sat on that commission," Biden said. "He and his House Republican friends that he leads – had they voted with the commission, it would have been voted on but he voted no.  He would not let it go to the floor. He walked away!"

"Romney has repeatedly said that he would reject any deal to bring down the debt that included 10 dollars in spending cuts even if it add only one dollar in taxes for the wealthy," he added. "Congressman Ryan failed to mention any of that – a convenient omission, I’d say."

Ryan served on the Bowles-Simpson commission and voted with six of the body's 18 members -- including both Republicans and Democrats – against its final recommendations. The commission's rules required 11 'yes' votes to advance for a full congressional vote. While Ryan praised many facets of the Bowles-Simpson proposal, he argued at the time that it did not do enough to address rising health costs.

The Obama administration did not publicly embrace Simpson-Bowles either, fearing backlash both from Democrats and Republicans – who Democrats feared would reflexively oppose a plan Obama backed.

Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck responded to Biden's claim by pointing out the Wisconsin congressman's continuing efforts to propose a responsible budget after the Bowles-Simpson panel fell apart.

"After the commission, Paul Ryan turned around and passed two budgets that put us on the path to balance," Buck said. "The President's proposal, meanwhile, was so un-serious that it received zero votes – from either party – in Congress.”

The fact that President Obama's budget received zero votes in the Congress is a badge of honor not a detriment. The Congress has an 8% approval rating. Lyin' ry;an should be embarrassed that he is in the Congress, the most reviled institution in America. Lyin' ry;an didn't give up his House seat which speaks volumes about his chances of winning and he did not take his name off the ballot for House of Representatives for 2012 because he knows the GOP cowards pushed him on his sword for the sake of the party he joined an already doomed campaign so he wants to keep his cushy House seat making $180,000 plus benefits and anything else they can steal.. Chumps like lyin' ry;an have been bending over to take it for guys like rom;ney since the very first government ever and today is no different.

I really don't think any of us knew or could have guessed how unAmerican the GOP was going to act when President Obama won the election. We just assumed too much it is clear to see now, after 4 years of just saying "no" to the President and to the American people it is time to kick them to the curb. If they can't help they must go home.

As an AMERICAN I fully agree. I'm 61 and never have I seen a Congress so unAmerican. The Repubs stated the first day that their one goal was to ensure tha this President would be a one-term President. And they were fully willing to throw our country not just under the but but literally off the cliff to do so. Even when presented with proposals the Republicans had previously approved they still said NO.

When the debt crisis came around the President and Boehner came up with the 'grand design' that would have cut about 4 trillion from the debt. It included spending cuts to revenue increases at 4-1. But because it included new revenue, the Repubs pulled Boehner's chain and said NO. The result? A lowering of our credit rating. All apparently to please the Norquist crowd.

Now the Repubs are blaming the President for the cuts to the defense budget called for in the sequestration plan. But they (the Repubs) agreed to the plan. And furthermore, those cuts wouldnt even be there had they compromised in the first place.

The Repubs in Congress have been like 10 year-old school boys stomping their feet and crying that they will just take their ball and go home. The problem is 'their ball' is our country.

As far as I'm concerned what the Congress has don't the last 3 1/2 years borders on Treason. All in the name of political power. They desperately wanted to make sure they came back into power and they were willing to kill our country to do so.

They're SICK and with this latest stunt against Holder-(the first ANY AG as been held in contempt and on such trumped up crappola charges by the "crimminal HIMSELF ISSA" of all people, is the biggest pile of BS of all time. then 33, yes 33 House votes to "repeal" the ACA but they sure can't accomplish much of anything else except introduce yet another ABORTION bill or try and ATTACH one to some other peice of legislation. I am so sick of these useless fascist lunatics, I want to CHOKE ALL of them with my bare hands along with the traitor blue dog dems who act just like them.

Funny. lyin' ry;an keeps appearing with his mommy on stage. It turns out he lives next door to his childhood home that his mommy still owns and lives in when she is not in the Palms Florida,. We learn that after he lied about running a marathon which he didn't for twenty years and was called out on his lie about the 2 hours and fifty minutes which he couldn't then he released a press statement that his brother, at dinner tonight, ribbed me about lying about running a marathon. So we learn the momma's boy recently has been taking his mommy onstage not as a prop for Medicare and Social Security but rather as a crutch for the little mommy's boy, lyin' ry;an, who really needs to cut the apron strings. Hey lyin' ry;an: the time has come for you to grow up and cut the apron strings from your mommy. You are in the Congress for Christ's sake.< HEY ROM;NEY where arte your TAX FORMS you CROOK!/p>

Biden is an effective campaigner, and the Republicans dismiss him at their peril. No politician alive today can connect emotionally and intellectually with the average American as can Joe Biden. He didn't go to Ivy League schools, and he experienced the tragic loss of most of his family, but came back to assume leadership roles in the Senate. Don't be fooled by his "gaffes." He's a very smart and compassionate guy.

Read it as a study in archaic and outdated economic concepts when it was believed that the economy was static and its size was unchanging which was proven false long ago. Reading Adam Smith is like reading the Communist Manifesto: it is grotesquely interesting to see and somewhat enlightening to see where other civilizations clearly have gone wrong. It is not a plan to follow

Although I do sympathize with Biden in the loss of his family, I do not consider him a man that comes across to the average American, unless you are calling Chicago style politics what the average American listens too. Liberal views aren't coming from the average American, but straight from 'Rules for Radicals." The book is used by most of your liberal progressive politicians. I, nor do I believe there are many Americans that see the emotional or intellectual side of Joe Biden that you see. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have leadership roles too....that about says it all I guess. Many will be left thinking you should change your name to "invisible brain" instead of "invisible hand".

                        • According to Forbes Magazine...
                          • General Motors Is Headed For Bankruptcy -- Again

President Obama is proud of his bailout of General Motors. That’s good, because, if he wins
a second term, he is probably going to have to bail GM out again. The company is once again losing market
share, and it seems unable to develop products that are truly competitive in the U.S. market.

Right now, the federal government owns 500,000,000 shares of GM, or about 26% of the company. It
would need to get about $53.00/share for these to break even on the bailout, but the stock closed at only $20.21/share on Tuesday. This left the government holding $10.1 billion worth of stock, and sitting on an unrealized loss of $16.4 billion.

Right now, the government’s GM stock is worth about 39% less than it was on November 17, 2010, when the company went public at $33.00/share. However, during the intervening time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by almost 20%, so GM shares have lost 49% of their value relative to the Dow.

It’s doubtful that the Obama administration would attempt to sell off the government’s massive position in GM while the stock price is falling. It would be too embarrassing politically. Accordingly, if GM shares
continue to decline, it is likely that Obama would ride the stock down to zero.

GM is unlikely to hit the wall before the election, but, given current trends, the company could easily do so again before the end of a second Obama term.

In the 1960s, GM averaged a 48.3% share of the U.S. car and truck market. For the first 7 months of 2012, their market share was 18.0%, down from 20.0% for the same period in 2011. With a loss of market share comes a loss of relative cost-competitiveness. There is only so much market share that GM can lose before it would no longer have the resources to attempt to recover.

                            Here's some more.

                            Unemployment

                            2001-2007

                            4.76%, 5.78%, 5.99%, 5.53%, 5.08%, 4.63%, 4.61%

                            Unemployment 6.3% in 2008.

                            January 2001 – October 2007 4.8 million jobs created.

November 2007. (Democrats take control of Congress).

Net jobs created drops to 2,866,000 for the period 2001-2008. (That indicates 2 million jobs lost after the election).

They're always going to the government when the s--t hits the fan loser and out of the other side of their mouths say "god provides, saves, blah, blah, blah". Well then stop taking MY tax money for your wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, floods and at the same time keep voting for the party that wants to slash the funding for all the relief when your butts need to be bailed from this crap because "god will take care of it all". You conservatives are so stupid with your freaking religious hypocrisy, deny science but sure have the hand out to the feds and are the first to crab about what a rotten job they're doing when one of YOUR toilets is going belly up...Well practice what you're always preaching and "get the government off your backs and let your god HELP YOU ALL then and don't pay ANY taxes". Don't ask for help at all as you should have all "that freedom and choice" eh? Let your own state take care of their crappola.

Crappy schools, fool of barefot, pregnant, illilterate bible thumping dopes with lousy wages, no health insurance breathing dirty air and our water gettig more polluted by the day because our once sound environmental protection laws are ZIPPO now. Marshfiled already got a nice gift from the same morons that befouled the Kalmazoo River in MI 2 years ago from tar sands sludge leaking in there forcing people having to evacuate from their homes and the mess still has not been cleaned out of there by good ol Enbridge..Well, they ruptured a pipe and dumped tar sands crud all over a field in Marshfiled, WI.
Thanks Scott Walker and the fossil fuel industry that we still are forced to subsidized to the tune of BILLIONS per year with our taxes even though these schmucks MAKE mega-billions per years in profits and get tax RETURNS on top of it while polluting the entire PLANET. You know, what happened to that private enterprise and free market thing as CLEAN energy subsidies are due to expire? Ryan and Biden in the debates? Can't wait. Joe will clean lying phony, Eddie Munster's CLOCK!!!

But clint eastwood is absolutely correct. That we own this country. That politicians are just our hired hands. Exacta mondo. The guy was super. But do you believe mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, or foxnews.com feel the same way. Are you kidding. They will tell you that the country is supposed to be run by the upper 1%. The super wealthy. That they get their marching orders from the kock bros who give them $100M every month. Watch the video again.

And look whose standing up to the kocks. A small business hair dresser. Yes. Yes. it's the real world. Standing up to save the country from the kocks. But clint was right. Politicians are just your hired hands.

And look very carefully at the person who goes by the name saint paul. You will find that he takes from the middle class & poor while giving to the wealthy. Who does this saint paul work for. The catholic sisters say it's the devil because saint paul claims to be working for the creator. No way say the catholic nuns. They are out to get him.

My Chevy Cruze is awesome. First American car that got me AWAY from imports and I traded in my 2004 Mazda 3 for it last year. Great gas mileage, quality, features, handling and nice LOOKING. Fun to drive too with a 6 speed transmission and gentle clutch. LOVE this car. Also it has been one of THE top selling, rated cars for Chevy for all the reasons mentioned, especially the ECO model. Keep up your hate talk just to be arrogant but that will get you nowhere fast.
How UnAmerican of every last one of you so-called "conservatives" who talk about refusing to buy a car if it is produced by American labour. What are you going to do? Go buy an effing Hyundai or Nissan because you'd rather be such union hating jerks then buy an AMERICAN made vehicle built by workers in your OWN country? What pieces of s--t you are.
Fascist treasonous rats all of you for being that blinded by hatred and brain-washed by the "divide and conquer strategy" that you would turn on OTHER middle class workers, especially AMERICAN labour by boycotting products made here. The only UnAmerican people in this country are YOU haters who actually celebrated when for 5 weeks the wirch hunt against the Chevy Volt shut a plant down for 5 weeks and 1,100 workers were temporarily laid off until production could start back up. What kind of monsters would find happiness in people in their own country losing their jobs? I'll bet you're all licking your fascist chops over the prospect of 100,000 USPS being on the chopping block because of the crap gop is doing to THEM.
Patriots you call yourselves? Compared to the likes of your kind, Benedict Arnold was a "good guy". I'd cry FOR you but I have no tears left, just shame, anger and disgust.

Bush ended with 10.6 trillon debt, current debt is 15.4 trillion I guess you never made it past the little boy's room, you sure don't know what you are talking about, so my best advice to you is don't write what you can't verify, and don't write about something when you don't know what the hell you are talking about..No body is stupid enough to think our total debt is 1.3 trillion.

There are approximately 116,011,000 households in the United States It's simple math therefore that each household will have to pony up an average of $135,471 to pay the current $15.716 trillion debt. That is real money that the government has already spent on real things: bureaucrats' salaries, earmarks, subsidies, military, welfare, foreign aid … whatever has been the current whim of Congress and the President. In theory, that is money that has been spent for the American people. So ask yourself: What has the government given me that I would be willing to go another $135,471 in debt for?

And Obama is just making it worse.

(CNSNews.com) - The Obama administration passed another fiscal milestone this week, according to new data released by the Treasury Department. As of the close of business on Oct. 3, the total national debt was $14,837,099,271,196.71—up about $44.8 billion from Sept. 30.

That means that in the less-than-three-years Obama has been in office, the federal debt has increased by $4.212 trillion--more than the total national debt of about $4.1672 trillion accumulated by all 41 U.S. presidents from George Washington through George H.W. Bush combined.

This $4.212-trillion increase in the national debt means that during Obama’s term the federal government has already borrowed about an additional $35,835 for every American household--or $44,980 for every full-time private-sector worker. (According to the Census Bureau there were about 117,538,000 households in the country in 2010, and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were about 93,641,000 full-time private-sector workers.)

When Obama was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2009, according to the Treasury Department, the total national debt stood at $10,626,877,048,913.08.

At the end of January 1993, the month that President George H. W. Bush left office, the total national debt was $4.1672 trillion, according to the Treasury. Thus, the total national debt accumulated by the first 41 presidents combined was about $44.8 billion less than the approximately $4.212 trillion in new debt added during Obama’s term.

As of Monday, Obama had been in office 986 days—or about 32 and a half months. During that time, the debt increased at an average pace of $4.27 billion per day. Were that rate to continue until Obama’s term ends on Jan. 20, 2013, the debt would then stand at about $16.86534 trillion—an increase of more than $6.2 trillion for Obama’s four years.

That would equal nearly $53,000 for each American household or more than $66,00 for each full-time private-sector worker.

That total national debt did not exceed $6.2 trillion until 2002, when George W. Bush was president.

94% of the national debt belongs to just three people.

                                Reagan

                                Bush

The last Presidents to pay down on the national debt were President Clinton and President Carter.

Reaganomics is a proven total failure and Rack and ruin want to bring it back before we have even recovered from the last round if it.

Perhaps you libs could explain one of your favorite Bush terms, "unfunded wars".

During WW II, we had high taxes with the highest marginal rate at 90% (FDR wanted 100% but Treasury Sec Morganthau talked him out of it). And there was selling of war bonds and massive rationing.

Yet after WW II, we had the highest debt to date ($250 billion) at 120% of GNP in spite of those policies.

So libbies. How does one "fund" a war? How does one even budget for a war? Wouldn't you have to be a seer or a soothsayer to figure it out to the penny?

I've heard you guys call Afghanistan and Iraq "unfunded" and say it wasn't part of the budget or not included in the annual deficits. No, it wasn't part of the budget. Anyone with any budget knowledge knows that.

It was funded with Congressional appropriations called supplemental appropriations signed off by both parties otherwise no Federal agency including DOD could have done anything.

And if one goes to treasury archive figures, one will find that the wartime appropriations are included in the annual spending figures.

                                          So then?

Well im smarter than most of you. Both partys blow! I look at actions. Like our sucky congress, they need term limits! I wish they could be marched outside at the point of a gun and told to go home and never come back.I want fresh thinking and ideas.

Obama and Romney and ryan all have about the same voting records. What they say to us and how they vote are two different things.

Ron Paul is the answer.but i guess a smart man who pushes freedom isnt popular. Both partys well keep running up the debt until the country goes down the tubes.

There is noway in h3ll republicans should be rewarded for holding American families hostage to protect the rich, or to promote their oppressive ideological faith based agenda

As long as you mention the fact that Harry Reid continues to sit on 30 bills passed legally by the House and refuses to vote on them.

Maybe it is because all the republican House bills Reid is sitting on has amendments to reduce taxes for the rich or to promote oppressive faith based ideology restraints on women's rights.

Maybe Reid needs to have the guts to go on record and vote on those bills instead of being an obstructionist.

After reading some of the posts I can see that no matter who we elect as President things will not change much until the American people start blaming themselves instead of one party or the other. We are the ones who don't buy goods from our own workers and we are the ones who have failed to demand that our elected officials stop taking bribes for their votes better known as lobbying. We get what we deserve.

I know it's tempting to find a clever "R&R" label for the GOP ticket...but having spent a couple of weeks watching them, I STILL think "the Spoiled Fratboy ticket" is the label that describes them most accurately!

(As I've explained many times, I knew a few fratboys (some spoiled, some not so much) back in the day, and most have become fairly decent human beings. As for Romney and Ryan, I'm not holding my breath....)

They have been forced back to thier core beliefs of fiscal responsibility by the tea party. If they don't correct it this time the party itself will not exist in its current form in the next 20 years the American public has woken up and now has no qualms with eliminating which ever party fails to do the job.

I believe that if I were going to challange someone, I would have a better answer than I couldm' find it. But then Repubs don't want facts cuz it shoots down their argument each time

What we need is for us to pick someone that works for the majority and not the minority. The minority might have a system that works for them but that system as Romney says causes some people to get hurt. There is a system where everyone prospers and he doesn't know what it is. The system isn't called greed!

I will say it again no one every got a job from a poor person and Obama cant create 200 million jobs in the government. Capitalism is what build this nation not Barack Obama's foolish notion of socialism.
