Obama to Colorado students: Have fun but remember to vote

BOULDER, Colo. – A mountain range in the near distance behind him, President Barack Obama appeared before thousands of just-returning University of Colorado students here, making a play for the youth vote in this crucial Western state.

“I could see folks forgetting to vote. They’re having too much fun,” he said, urging the 13,000 students on CU Boulder’s Norlin Quad to go to the polls. “That’s why you are so important because you’re going to have to set an example to the person next to you in class. You’re going to have to remind them, have you voted yet?”

Students at schools like CU Boulder contributed to Obama’s 2008 victory, with 66 percent of young voters picking him over 2008 GOP nominee John McCain. But recent polls show young voters losing excitement at the prospect of voting at all in 2012, let alone showing up for Obama in as large numbers as they did last election.

Underscoring the importance of young voters in this state, the Obama campaign last week launched a “Rocky Mountain Rumble,” challenging sports rivals CU Boulder and Colorado State University to see which school can register more voters by Election Day.

Obama, who campaigned at CSU last week, noted that the school had “a little bit of a head start” and was already up by 41 registrants. “Let’s get it done,” he urged the CU Boulder students.

The president also tailored his standard campaign pitch to voters of all ages in this mountainous frontier state, hearkening back to its pioneer roots: “The story of America is about going forward. Nobody understands that better than folks in the West, because you know, this was a region that was settled by people who understand, ‘We’re not looking back, we’re going forward. We’re going forward to the next frontier, to new horizons,’” he said.

The Romney campaign released a statement in response to Obama's speech today, alluding to Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, a top Obama surrogate, who on CBS' Sunday morning show Face the Nation responded "no" when asked whether he could "honestly say that people are better off today than they were four years ago

"On the same day that the Obama campaign conceded Americans aren’t better off than they were four years ago, the President offered no solutions to the problems facing our country. Instead of taking us ‘forward,’ President Obama is taking us on a path of declining incomes, high unemployment, and trillion dollar deficits. The Romney-Ryan plan for a stronger middle class will spur economic growth, bring back jobs, and turn our economy around," Romney spokesperson Amanda Henneberg said.

The Obama campaign is working hard to recapture the nine votes they won in Colorado in 2008 with a 53 to 44 victory over McCain. Of his eleven trips to Colorado since the beginning of his presidency, eight were in 2012, most of which were political.

Boulder County, where Obama spoke today, handed him a resounding 72 percent in 2008. But there were still regions in the state remain deeply red – after all, President Obama was the first Democrat to win Colorado since Bill Clinton did in 1992.

One such area was El Paso County in the southern part of the state, which voted 59 to 40 for McCain. Before his speech today the president sat down for interviews with two TV affiliates from Colorado Springs, the largest city in El Paso County.

Later Sunday, Obama heads to Toledo, Ohio, for a campaign event Monday morning. He’ll then travel to Louisiana where he will tour damage wrought by Hurricane Isaac.

Be sure to vote, students, get your friends to register. Show the Republicans that they can't get away with disenfranchising students.

The President helped secure low interest college loan rates for college students very recently.

Thanks, Mr. President.

College students should come out and vote in great numbers..for Obama of course.

But some Republican-controlled states have passed laws to prevent the young, the poor, and the minorities from voting.

For example, Pennsylvania Photo ID law only accepts photo IDs with expiration dates. But student IDs and veteran IDs have no expiration dates - thus disenfranchised

Since when does it become fashionable again to deprive people of their vote???

Republican - Backwards

Democrats - FORWARD

Hedley: Student loans were backed by the fed govt. That means a private lender took NO RISK and still charged 6-8% for admin costs only.

Obama eliminated the middle man and will charge a lower rate than the private lenders. Are you a fiscal conservative or a TPRepub?

Hedley -- I have read and re-read and re-read again your comment but I still have no idea what you were trying to say. Care to elaborate with details?

Never mind. Between the time of your comment and mine, blearyeyed has posted a comment that makes it seem that he knows what you are alluding to. I don't know much about the student loan thing. At my age, I'm more interested in Social Security.

Let's see, 30 year Treasury notes going for less than 3% and the Democrats want to lower the rate for student loans from 6.8% to 3.4%. Republicans have a hussy fit wanting the cut to be paid for. In other words, they could not stand to give up the profit they were making off of student loans. Or do you think it might have had something to do with their promise to oppose everything President Obama proposes. It would be funny, if it weren't so sad.

As far as spider and US Citizen go, they really should convince their Congressional Representatives to pass President Obama's Jobs Act. If that fails, then they can blame him. Until they do, it is their fault.

Obama believes the line, "there's a sucker born every minute". He sees the young people as suckers.

Obama needs to get re-elected in order for his plan of destruction to work.

During his first term he carried over & continued with policies from Bush. Obama knows the policies he proposes will be struck down. But that's okay with him because he doesn't care for his proposed policies either. It's all a show.

The true destruction will come in the second term because he knows no one will be able to stop the destruction. Scary but true.

I have a hard time seeing what "anti business" Obama has done to jobs. One must look at the trajectory of jobs when he took office. It had gone vertical. The economy was much worse than thought. We thought we had a 3 % decline in GDP in the the last two quarters of 08. That was revised to a 9% loss in GDP. In 6 months. We were on the verge of a depression. 2% growth sucks, just not nearly so much as where we were.

People forget 2008. Let's refresh. the Dow was under 8000 when Obama took office, it is now 13000 (up about 40%). The banking industry was nearing collapse, now they are profitable( and still screwing us). GM was going under, now it is viable. Yes, it is partially govt. owned but the jobs are still there, there suppliers are still in business, and it is making better cars. Better GM then Hyundai for the US workers. We are mostly out of Iraq although still stupidly in Afghanistan. Corporate profits are very high and the rich are getting richer. The middle class is struggling as are the poor but business? Where is the patriotism of these businesses making huge profits? The Koch's have worth has gone up by several billions per year for instance yet they feel they need more. You also can't look at the US in a vacuum. China is slowing. Much of Europe is in crisis. Japan has been slow for decades. This is a world economy and when you compare the US to almost all the other countries, we are doing well (although that doesn't mean that all are doing well, just business and the 1% who take more and more of the pie). And for those who complain about the price of gas. Look at gas prices before the economy went south. They were much less but that was because demand was so far down because of the severity of the recession. Obama has been middling but some of that is the Dem congress who screwed him and a lot of that is the Reps. The current VP candidate was involved in a group who on teh day of inauguration during our worst fiscal time in 75 years, decided that winning in 2012 was the most important thing. Remember that when you vote.

Gary Johnson 2012! Gary Johnson will: End the Drug war by Legalizing Cannabis, Support Internet Freedom, Support Gun rights, end the IRS, End the Federal Reserve, End the Fed, Support Abortion.

Vote Libertarian!

The Republicans have a record of Selling Jobs over seas, Abusing their powers, Supporting Internet Censorship, breaking the constitution and Lying about a LOT of things.

The Democrats also have a Record of Selling jobs Over seas, Abusing their Powers, Lying, Taking Benefits away from the Army, Supporting Internet Censorship, Breaking the Constitution.

Barack Obama has:

Attacked Libya without Congressional Approval.

Signed the NDAA Bill into law allowing the Detention and Assassination of Any US Citizen without trial, a Federal Court blocked it in May but Obama is trying to Get that Unblocked.

Raised the National debt over $6 Trillion in His First 3 Years.

Killed HUNDREDS of Innocent people (Excluding the FEW Terrorists) including three American Citizens in Yemen and Pakistan using Drone strikes (Even more Drone strikes than Bush).

Tried to Ban guns with The UN Even though it's unconstitutional and Obama SWORE to Protect the Constitution.

Obama Claims he Supports Freedom of Speech even though he Hired Staff to Censor his YouTube channel.

He claims he Campaigned in 57 States.

George Bush has:

Committed War crimes.

Supported Gun Control even though it's Unconstitutional.

The Patriot Act makes Growing your Own food Illegal, makes all Misdemeanors "Acts of terror", makes it Illegal to have more than 7 Days of food in your home and Many other things like that (Maybe 9/11 was a False Flag, they are greedy people, why not do a False Flag, blame it on al-Quaeda and Take Freedom away from the American people so they can have more Control? Considering the Patriot Act takes a Lot of Freedom Away and Bush was Very Corrupt).

Raised the Hell out of the National Debt.

Can't you guys Admit what your Parties have Done wrong? How greedy and Corrupt they are? Why not be Libertarian?

I don't know Adler,

Seems to me that the prospects of accumulating $120,000 in student loans with only the 50% being able to get a job would make kids think twice. Then, when only half of those getting a job gets one in the field they studied.

Yes, and don't forget to vote. Oh, and by the way, if you ever want the opportunity to move out of your parent's basement you better consider voting for Romney/Ryan.

1) Do you know that Obama is going to be the ONLY president in history that will have ended his term with LESS people working than when he took office?

2) Do you know that 50% of recent college graduates can't find a job in their major?

3) Do you know that when Obama took office the unemployment rate was 7.8% and AFTER Obama borrowed nearly 6 TRILLION dollars the unemployment rate is STILL 8.3% and RISING?

4) Do you know that if we wanted to pay off the National Debt today EACH taxpayer would have to write a check for over $140,000?? I guess it IS a good thing there is no chance for you to get a job after you graduate because you don't want to be a taxpayer now anyway!!

5) Do you know that the last quarter GDP was 1.7% when the long-term average is 3.3%?

Not quite the Hope and Change initially promised and I think that actually meant "I Hope I can find some Change in the sofa because that is all I have left".

Since you are college students all I hope you do is some research on your own. Don't listen to MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, or even Fox News. You are in college and supposed to have the ability to do research on your own. Go to government sites like Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Labor, Department of Commerce, and Bureau of Economic Analysis.

When you hear a politician say something that just seems "hard to believe" (like "Republicans want to take away Medicare from Seniors" or "Republicans hate women") don't let them play you for fools. When the Democrat party has to tell you why NOT to vote for Republicans rather than why you SHOULD vote for Obama doesn't that just make you wonder? When Democrats basically tells you "Obama sucks but Romney sucks more" doesn't that just make you wonder WHY they are not telling the reasons to vote FOR Obama? Could it be because the Obama record is a complete failure? The economy getting worse day by day? You are destined to live at your parent's house for years because Obama is damaging this economy?

Don't take my word for it and don't take the others speaking negatively (and will be attacking my comments later). You are college students. You are our future entrepreneurs. You are the ones that will decide whether this country grows as a nation or goes into decline. Be smart enough to do your own research. Be smart enough to develop your own opinion.

Dabouv

I have a hard time seeing what "anti business" Obama has done to jobs.

Anything that raises the cost of their product even further above what imports costs without improving the product is the enemy of business AND the enemy of jobs.

American companies have a hard enough time competing for market share with their competitors when even in our own country despite the huge costs to ship to our country their products cost less. When we try to sell to another country we add the cost of shipping and heavy import duties to send to other countries, they would be idiots to even consider our products or extremely wealthy.

This is why Ford, GM, Chrysler, Apple, GE and many others build plants overseas. We higher waged, higher benefited, Higher taxed, and greater regulated our way out of millions of jobs. And as these continue to climb until at some point places like Apple and GE will cut the production in America in favor of their lower cost production over seas.

Balance is the key to meaningful prosperity. We are far too Regulated and the installation of the ACA may cause irrepairable damage, because once the jobs leave, they rarely come back in significant numbers.

With 2 kids in college, I am happy congress passed legislation to maintin the rates set in the College Cost Reduction and Access Act passed during the Bush administartion. However, Mr Obama's interest in student loans this summer was purely political and an election year play. When the College Cost Reduction and Access Act was passed to reduced studen loan rates, then Senator Obama did not vote the 2 times that bill came up in the Senate.

The true Obama will come out if he gets re-elected.

Yes, students, if you want to REDUCE your chance of having a job for four more years, by all means, vote for Obama. 8%+ unemployment for a record 40+ months should tell you something!!

People in all states should be telling themselves this:

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

--- Obama fooled us, big-time, with all his lies. Best example: He was to reduce the debt by $5 trillion, down from $10 trillion. Instead, he INCREASED IT ALMOST $6 TRILLON, up to $16 trillion!!

Don't be a fool.

Yes, college students, vote for Barrack Hussein!

And when you graduate with that diploma in hand, go get a good paying good benefit job.

I DARE YA!

Good luck with that American wet dream. Pick and choose which job you can get.

Let's see, there's retail, stocking shelves at WalMart. If you don't like that you can get a job in hospitality cleaning dirty motel rooms. If you're in no hurry to get your career going and repay your massive student loans just take a temp job for a few years, I'm sure that will help. These are the jobs being created by Barrack Husseins massive $863 billion waste of money. At least he and his “Jobs Czar”, Jeff Immelt, confessed that “shovel ready jobs” were a lie.

This is what you have to look forward to with the Barrack Hussein "Recovery Summers", his "green shoots", his "focusing like a laser" on jobs and the economy.

Now, you may think this is something temporary. You may just think Barrack Hussein will unleash his incredible ability to restore our once envied wealth, prosperity and standard of living in his second term.

Don't hold your breath.

Barrack Hussein has done NOTHING to improve your chances of getting a good paying secure long term job. He has sprinkled Bread and Circuses on your hopes and dreams and failed in the most important areas of our economy. Why do you think they added the provision that you can stay on your parents insurance until you're 26? They know there will be no jobs, real jobs, for years.

As students, you know that you need to have a budget to manage your own finances. This president doesn't. How can the largest service corporation in history, our government, believe it can be run efficiently and affordably without a blueprint, a budget? It can't, and it shows.

Appropriately the economy will surpass an important milestone during the Democratic National Convention. Our, and more importantly your, National Debt will exceed $16 trillion. More ominously our Unfunded Liabilities are over $120 trillion. All the wealth in the world can’t repay this massive debt. Don’t let this fool you. This is the amount of money needed to ensure you that you will enjoy the benefits of your mandated contributions to our entitlements. If you look at these numbers and still don’t realize they are unsustainable you need to demand a refund from your college or university. They have not been honest with you.

No effort has been put forth to correct our trade agreements that are anything but free. NAFTA and the WTO are stealing your ability to be competitive as they try to manage trade rather than keep it fair. You deserve fair and open markets in a world with over 7 billion people, our current systems deny you that.

Our criminal progressive tax system needs to be eliminated and replaced with a simple Flat Tax or Fair Tax so you can manage your own money rather than it being redistributed to who knows where, here and abroad, by an incompetent government. You will work for more than 40 years during your career, you should decide how, where and when you will spend and invest YOUR OWN MONEY!

Regulations need to be reined in. Don't fall for the childish claims that Republicans want dirty air, dirty water and nuclear waste in your bedroom. They don't. But they do want you to be able to expand your careers by unleashing your entrepreneurial skills to create a business and the commerce we need so badly to restore our economy to prosperity. You have a whole life to be whatever you want to be, you should have an easy way to advance your careers without some bloated bureaucracy standing in your way to take more money and control from you and your goals.

Don't fall for the lies from the unions that they want to help you. They are one of the main culprits why many of our industries have fled our shores and been outsourced. They are the ones who brought the US auto industry to its knees. In the case of Chrysler, twice. Unions had their place at the turn of the century before any of your grandparents were even born. Today we have a massive Department of Labor, OSHA, EEOC, Minimum Wage Standards and other systems in place to maintain safe and effective workplaces. Unions need to be more industry supportive rather than divisive. They need to work with industries to provide a fair wage and if possible benefits that are sustainable. For too long the unions have negotiated irresponsible contracts and then walked away from the table and watched as their demands crushed industries and cities with massive pension and legacy obligations that they were not responsible for. Just look at the $4 trillion in unfunded state pensions that are crippling cities across the nation, this is irresponsible.

We need an energy policy that is truly "all the above". We are the richest resource nation in the world and we are paying over $4/gallon for gas. This is stripping you, and all Americans, of vital capital that you could be investing in your career, a new business or into your retirement portfolios. We should be exploiting our coal, gas, shale-gas, oil, shale-oil and nuclear capabilities to be creating jobs that will be based on exports so we can create the new revenue we need to pay off our massive debts that will cripple your future ability to compete in the global market. Subsidies need to be eliminated to all sectors and you new graduates can then truly create commerce in a real free-market.

Your future is what we as a nation need to insure will be as prosperous as possible.

Yes, you can become rich. The demagoguery and class-warfare meme being spewed by our president and Liberals/Progressives is the biggest insult to your future. Nobody grows up hoping to be poor or even middle class. We all grow up wanting to be rich. America offers you equal opportunity to succeed IF you're willing to pursue it with hard work and common sense. What America DOES NOT insure you of is equal outcomes. It shouldn't. Not everyone has the ability to be rich, but you do have a chance, in a truly free-market economy to attain any level of prosperity possible. This is what the American Dream allows you.

Government has become an obstacle to your dreams rather than a ally. Your skills and education will be held hostage by a massive bureaucracy that is just concerned with taking more and more of your hard earned money and liberties. They will take it under the guise of “helping” those who need it. Just remember, we had a poverty rate of 14% in 1965, since then we have spent over $17 trillion on the “war on poverty”, today the poverty rate is 14.3% (15.1% including the recession). Government is NOT the solution, it IS the problem.

As you watch the circus known as the Democratic National Convention this week, listen closely to their solutions. They will be the same Progressive and Keynesian promises that have created the mess we are in today. The usual senseless borrow and spend for infrastructure will be parroted. You can’t export roads and bridges. The promises to spend more on education will be made. We already spend more than any nation on education, other than Sweden, and we still graduate high school seniors who read at an 8th grade level. You realize, more than anyone as students, how much your diploma has cost you and your parents. It will take you years to pay it off and start benefitting from your education.

We need to restore our economy to a balance between service and exportable manufacturing. This convoluted consumption/service economy we have devolved into has never created the wealth, prosperity and standard of living we are accustomed to. You deserve better. You deserve the ability to pursue the American Dream as you desire, not by what some bureaucrat in Washington allows you.

Vote wisely this November. Your, and our great Republics, future depends on it.

The President helped secure low interest college loan rates for college students very recently.

Thanks, Mr. President.

Thanks Mr. President. 53% of recent college grads are unemployed or working in non-college degreed positions. Attaboy!! 4 more years of misery.

Wow! If Republicans couldn't lie they would have absolutely NOTHING to say. When you have to lie to support your lousy candidates - Romney/Ryan - what does that say about the candidates and what does it say about you for backing them? I guess lying is the new word for the GOP!

SeekingSanity: When a person makes a generic comment like "If Republican's couldn't lie....." but then does not go through the "difficult task" of giving even ONE example - then it confirms for everyone you are simply looking for a diversion. When the Democrats can't give a reason to vote FOR Obama and looking for any reason to tell people to vote AGAINST Romney instead - then this is going to be an easy and great election.

Oh BTW Joe Biden spoke over the weekend in Detroit and although he is always great for a gaffe he really did it justice this time - he said "Folks, let me make something clear and say it to the press: America is better off today than they left us when they left" and then went on to say "If it weren't so hot - if it weren't so hot, I'd go into detail". CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!! The vice-president says we are better off but it is too hot for him to tell you why?!?!?

I don't know if that is hilarious, surprising, or just flat out disappointing.......

BTW, have you heard about the new Democrat slogan: "You are better off, you just don't know it yet".

All other things aside, as a Christian I had no choice but to leave the democratic party, I will not be associated with a party that openly advocates and condone's the murdering of babies and the destruction of the nuclea family by upholding the degenerate homosexual life. As a Christian I tell you now if you continue to affiliate yourself with this party you will bring down God's judgement on you. You cannot call yourself a Christian and go against God's word. If you do then you are a liar and a heartless degenerate human being whom God will turn over to a reprobate mind, which is to say over to satan to do with you as he will. I am not one hundred percent agreeable with the republican party but at least they do not shout the blasphame concerning these two grevious sins. I am now a independent and my vote will go for Romney.

Obama's goal is to have out-of-state students in swing states change their registration to the states where they go to college to influence the will of the people that are permanent residents in those states (such as Colorado).

Sure is funny that Obama has to go in front of college students to try to beg them to vote for him. Obama worship among college students is way down... I can understand Obama begging for votes... since the typical college student sees right through Obama... Maybe if employment opportunities were better after they graduate... or maybe if they didn't have to move back in with mom and dad... Obama might get more interest... The fraud in chief is not the hope and change guy any more... no hope and plenty of change Americans don't want.

But recent polls show young voters losing excitement at the prospect of voting at all in 2012, let alone showing up for Obama in as large numbers as they did last election.

As First Read's article indicates, young voter enthusiasm has waned.

Related, students are paying less attention to the 2012 presidential campaign (66% a lot of some attention) than they did in either 2008 (82%) or 2004 (76%). And college students are less likely to be active currently in a presidential campaign than they were at this time in 2008 (7% compared with 16%) http://www.panettainstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/Hart-2012-complete-report.pdf

82% of students were at least paying attention to the 2008 election. Now 66% are. Since the majority of students supported President Obama in 2008, it's reasonable to conclude the numbers of students worshipping the President is way down this time around.

Brianb, unlike you, college students know that Congress holds the purse strings. A President can only suggest, once the House and Senate pass his suggestions, then he can be blamed for the outcome. Short of that, the blame falls with Congress. Didn't the current Congress campaign on the promise of creating jobs. Perhaps you can explain in detail what they have done to create them. Do you really believe college students are going to fall for your paid comments?

What President Obama and the liberals don't understand is the college students really don't care about lower loan rates, they want to know they are decent paying jobs for them when the graduate, (something Obama has delivered) so they don't have to move back in with their parents or stay on their parents health insurance.

Most only worry about paying for financing when they are close to graduating or after graduating.

      "They’re having too much fun,”

Because having fun is what college is all about.

      Fun and voting.

How about studying really hard and doing well in the academic part of school so these young students can graduate with a meaningful degree, contribute to society, live a prosperous life after school, and if necessary pay back their loans?

Instead of organizing voter registration competitions, encouraging excellence may have been more appropriate.

Of course, encouraging excellence wouldn't help the President keep his job.

Vote, organize, fun then study maybe? The President's priorities are a bit out of order.

      Reply#10 - Sun Sep 2, 2012 8:13 PM EDT

Candice: I agree with your point of studying hard and achieving a degree, but, how does voter registration and voting equal not achieving those goals. I think encouraging a sacred part of the constitution and bill of rights, a part of the freedoms that republicans claim we go to war and promote in other countries is something to be proud of, not rebuke as in mixed up priorities.

Republicans don't have any problem with the military promoting and recruiting at universities...promoting helping students pay for their education...so why is there a problem with the president encouraging students to use their freedom, the right to vote, not a priority.

      • 8 votes
      #10.1 - Sun Sep 2, 2012 10:56 PM EDT

@Candice - So they can't enjoy the last time that they can use an educational environment to socialize, enjoy life, and be happy? They must study, study, study so they can become the slaves of the workforce, who have no right to complain as they build the latest and greatest nuclear warhead that will obliterate Iran the Infidelious Dictatorstate, Russia the Brutal Ignoramustate, and China the Conniving Burglarstate?

Get real - happiness is one half of why people don't croak so early. Most of the controversial suicides that happened were from an overload of fear, anxiety, and profound sadness. Happiness helps workers not beat their boss over the head with a two-by-four. Happiness, which fun creates, is responsible for creating the overall wellness of a nation.

To say that nobody can have fun, even children, goes to show you are a war-mongering, apocalypse-crying, bible-thumping, misogynist Republican that really doesn't know why life has thrived as much as it has and only seeks the success of you, you, and only you. Everyone else can go to hell, right?

Fun creates happiness. Happiness creates a desire to work and vote. Without happiness, the fires of chaos consume the world. Without happiness, Jesus will kill us all, you and me included.

In his inaugural address, Obama promised "not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth." He promised to "build the roads and bridges, the electric grids, and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together." He promised to "restore science to its rightful place and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost." And he promised to "transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age." Unfortunately the president's score card on every single one of those bold pledges is pitiful. So a $16 trillion debt and climbing, 5 Trillion new Obama debt, 1.5% GDP, 21 million people out of work, more people on food stamps than ever, destroying the healthcare system, unemployment above 8.3% and no sign of it getting better, first time in U.S. history our credit rating downgraded...you bet, Obama has really led the country in the right direction.

Met00999.....................That was before he met a brick wall in the form of a do nothing Congress. The Republicans determined the night of the day he was inaugurated, they were going to do whatever it took to make him as least successful as possible. At no time did he have a 60 majority in the Senate to prevent a filibuster. He has proposed legislation for much of what he promised and many of those promises have been kept with little or no thanks to the GOP. The debt run up by the Bush administration for two wars and Medicare part D that they put on a credit card has contributed largely to the deficit, a fact that the GOP blithely ignores

Before you post of laundry list of lies and twisted half truths, which you no doubt received in a right wing email or some such diatribe, you should do some rudimentary research or simple fact checking.....that is if you are interested in finding out the real story and not accept someone else's interpretation or had you already made up your mind you wouldn't vote for President Obama?

He had congress in his pocket for 2 years straight and fixed NOTHING on his "this can't wait" list. WE put the republicans in there as a stop loss-----they have done what we asked. Stop the bleeding.

Now if the imperial president can stop with the mandates and ignoring the laws he does not like and or the states he does not like we can move forward WITHOUT the communist history of said slogan and vote this fool out of office.

brutaltruth - liar!!! He had a filibuster proof congress for 7 short months - during which time Ted Kennedy was ill and didn't vote and there were numerous recesses. So, he had a filibuster proof congress for about 4 months.

After that, the Republicans used the filibuster more than it had EVER been used in history!

      LIAR!!!!

The Obama way. Get your liberal arts degree and your $100,000 student loan debt then pay it off with a burger flipping job at Wendy's while competing against 2 million illegal aliens. Whoppee.

I'd say that it is the Romney/Ryan way....cut student loans, and increase the interest rate...increase taxes on the middle class..and take away health care for them, and what exactly, specifically are Romney/Ryan going to do to bring all these jobs to America??? Funny, I don't recall specifics being discussed at the convention.

Though I agree - people who don't want change won't work for it. However, change doesn't need to be purchased with blood or gunpowder. Just the desire and acting on said desire.

The worst thing about the romney man is his poor character. A 'fool' - a person who lacks sound judgment and/or common sense. The romney man puts his family dog on the roof of his car, gets on the freeway, sets his cruise control to 75 mph, then begins to drive a thousand miles. Liquid dog poo and urine rolls down on the car's windows and doors. The dog is feeling sick with diarrhea (a sign of discomfort in animals). What. What. Where's the problem here mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com will ask you. There is not problem here they will tell you. And the romney man kids are saying yuk, yuk dog liquid pooh all over the windows & car. I cannot see outside. The romney man stops, hoses down the soiled family dog and the car, puts the sick, wet dog back on the roof of his car, gets on the freeway, sets his cruise control to 75 mph, then drives 5oo more miles. What's wrong with that say mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com.

I tell you that you can see a man's character in how he treats animals. But look at the way he treats the workers at bane.

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt-jrbeWbXo

One worker asks - why does he treat people this way. Flawed character i tell you. It's all about character.

The young are the ones waking up to the conspiracy.

Obama is the representative of the more liberal branch of Freemasonry, the Scottish Rite. Romney is the representative of the more conservative branch of Freemasonry, the York Rite. Either way, we're still going down the same road of a centralized world government orchestrated in cohesion with the other Rites. Christ, they overtly advertised it in the ceremonies at the Olympics this year.

Why can't we have a candidate who is opposed to Masonry? Our presidential candidates are just puppets of the same pyramid scheme.

Instead, people who have done their homework on this stuff are just called tin-foil hat wearers.

Albert Pike himself said in 'Morals and Dogma' handed out to high level members of the Scottish Rite until the 1970's that the French Revolution was just a Masonic war of opposing factions. Think for a moment, if Masonic powers could cause the French Revolution, what else could it have influenced or be influencing today? This is Albert Pike. Immortalized and entombed in Washington DC. Not some 'crazy' conspiracy theorist that some people like to throw around. Being uninformed should not be grounds for throwing around the 'tin-foil hat wearer' label.

Do your own research. It's out there.

Masonry? Funny - that would put him up with fools like Aleister Crowley and (dare I say this) Herr Fuhrer and Mussolini.

But that makes no sense, since Obama's black. And Freemasons only accept white people.

Besides, I'd trust a Scot any day over a lying snake like you.

But they haven't publicly endorsed him. What's more, I think people aren't really caring about religion, since they realize this nation doesn't only belong to you followers of Jesus (or should I say Joseph Smith? After all, that IS Romney's God).

For me, religion exists as a hope. It's not something I live my life for and swear to obey.

The Bible is but one tome of historical text - I don't follow it to the letter, and nobody else condemns me for not having done so.

Like you, I fight when my rights are attacked. But I fight with words and peaceful action first, before I whip out the ol' Worskenhauser shotgun that the South seems to love so much.

If, and when the Freemasons actually bother with politics, I'll listen to what you have to say. But since there's been zero word on Obama collaborating with ANY sort of Freemason group, I'm gonna call you a lying snake as such.

P.S. Oh, and one last thing. The Scottish are white, and even they'd pick Obama over Romney. Everyone hates bull@!$%# lies, got it?

You are clueless about Masonry. The Scottish Rite has nothing to do with the race of the members. You really believe members of the Scottish Rite are all Scottish? It came into being in South Carolina in the early 1800'a under a council of eleven.

Most of what you'll hear about Masonry will be from low level initiates.
            Albert Pike says:
""The Blue Degrees are but the outer court or portico of the Temple. Part of the symbols are displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands them. Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry." (Morals and Dogma, p.819)"

Obviously, if they lie to their new initiates, they're going to lie to the general public.

My grandfather was a mason too. Was your grandfather a higher rank or of higher importance than Albert Pike or Manly P Hall? They say otherwise. Low levels are kept from the highest secrets. And there are varying levels of lodges. Of course your average community lodge is not the same as say, a Royal Arch Lodge. All I'm asking is that you read the material that is out there from high ranking Masons from centuries past. I used to be ignorant to it to, just like you!

                slightlyold

Yes, George Washington was a freemason. The founding of the US was consecrated in a Masonic ritual. The same year of the founding of the Bavarian Illuminati. There are paintings of George Washington in full Masonic garb.

My point is that the US is a Masonic nation since its inception. It's had a secret destiny and motives since the beginning. Ignorance from people like SeekingSanity does not negate the writings such as the Secret Destiny of America by Manly P Hall. You can pretend those writings do not exist as much as you can stick your head in the sand.

The US was never a Christian nation. It was never an Athiest nation. It is a Masonic nation, since the beginning. All gods are One.

                Research it.

Well, duh! Of course the convention will give Obama/Biden a boost. Conventions ALWAYS provide boosts, but generally MORE than what Romney/Ryan received.

Add that boost to a growing lead and Romney/Ryan are in trouble.

In fact, the ONLY thing that can derail Obama will be poor job numbers in September, even IF Romney floods the airwaves with hate through October.

The Myth Romney/ Lyin' Ryan economics joke is here to see:

Is this the economy we want? Looks to me like a textbook case of masturbatory (trickle down) voodoo economics guaranteed to feather the nests of the 1%rs and screw the rest of US. When pressed on details ol' Myth just babbles about his (vulture) business experience. He's like Rudy Giuliani, but instead of "noun, verb, 9/11", you get "noun, verb, businessman". He has whole Federal agencies scheduled for "creative destruction" with no idea of the real impact on anyone else (just like at Bain Capital). He wants to save defense programs, but lower taxes (only on his fellow 1%ers of course) and the numbers just don't add up. You'd think some of these self-righteous monkeys would have the integrity to get that Lyin' Ryan budget scored by the CBO? Nah, not a chance.

George Carlin said once (I think), "Whenever you hear some businessmen discussing what policies are good for America, don't bend over!"

Pathetic beady eyed jackals they are. Show us the money, Myth! How are you gonna do any better?
