Eastwood's ad-libbed remarks echo day after GOP convention

KENNER, La -- It was a substance-free, 12-minute prime-time performance that remains unlikely to sway a single vote, but Clint Eastwood's cameo appearance and conversation with an empty chair representing President Barack Obama in Thursday night's final hour of the Republican convention coverage remained a prime topic on the campaign trail Friday.

Actor Clint Eastwood speaks to an empty chair Thursday during the final day of the Republican National Convention at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Mitt Romney's top strategist told reporters on the candidate's campaign plane Friday that the moment should be judged as a performance, and that while not everyone may have liked it, Eastwood's very presence -- and concern for out-of-work Americans in particular -- made the rambling remarks by the 82-year old Academy Award winner worthwhile.

"The fact that he’s there shows he’s speaking his mind and if somebody wants to say I would have liked this different performance or that difference performance, have it," Romney campaign strategist Stuart Stevens told reporters, comparing the remarks to two famous Eastwood films. "Some people didn’t like 'Dirty Harry,' some people didn’t like 'Gran Torino,' that’s OK."

And while Ann Romney and several of Romney's top advisers remained stone-faced during Eastwood's appearance, Stevens said Mitt Romney very much enjoyed it.

"I was backstage with him and he was laughing," Stevens said."[Romney] thought it was funny."

A Romney adviser confirmed the remarks were ad-libbed, and the use of an empty chair as a prop was not discussed by the campaign. If there was any panic during the remarks, the adviser said, it might have come from the control room, where convention planners watched Eastwood continue for more than double his allotted time.

"He did what actors do sometimes, he did a little improv. If someone wants to say this wasn’t Clint Eastwood’s greatest performance, have at it. It doesn’t matter, you know," the adviser said. "It’s I think people saw that Clint Eastwood was not only endorsing Romney but endorsing the need for change. I liked that."

Meanwhile in Virginia, Romney running mate Paul Ryan faced a question by a reporter from NBC’s Hampton Roads affiliate WAVY if Eastwood's remarks were a distraction.

Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood made a surprise appearance at the Republican National Convention, but his rambling speech, which included a make-believe conversation with President Obama, got a mixed reception. NBC's Tamron Hall reports.

"I think Clint Eastwood was just being Clint Eastwood,” Ryan said in the interview to air Saturday. “One of the most profound things Clint said was that 23 million people out of work struggling to find jobs is just unacceptable."

Vice President Joe Biden, who was the butt of several of Eastwood's sharpest jokes, didn't mention the 'Dirty Harry' actor's performance during campaign stops in Ohio Friday.

But, according to pool reports, a supporter did allude to Eastwood's chair act, insisting to Biden during an impromptu stop at an Ohio fairgrounds that "You gotta keep the chair."

Biden didn't directly acknowledge the "chair" comment but gave the woman, Bev Kalmer of Poland, Ohio, a kiss on the lips.

Ann Romney, who spoke in prime time on the first full night of the convention, told CBS that Eastwood is "a unique guy and he did a unique thing" during his RNC appearance.

Asked if she was surprised by the unusual speech, she laughed and said merely "I didn't know it was coming."

The Eastwood mess will go down in history as one of the biggest WTF were they thinking moments in political history?

If Team Willard can't even put on a show for the "base", how are they competent to run the country?

Old Clint telling dirty jokes to a crowd of Mormon's went over like a fart in church!

Queen Annie's face told the entire story!

I do have to admit, the whole debacle was mesmerizing! Couldn't take my eyes off that train wreck!

They've debased themselves completely!

Eastwood (although I like his movie characters) was really himself....disrespecting the President. That's what the TeaPeople have done for years.

TeaPeople (Akiin exposed it all) have disrespected women for years.

Hey, the crowd on the floor loved it.....Disrespect....Yeah!

So do the the President's reaction. I can't think of a better way of the President to let Clint Eastwood know our President's seat is taken until 2016.

I've yet to see a Democrat talk to an empty chair. I'm sorry but Clint reminded me of someone's grandpa who chucked all of their meds and went out for one last fling before kicking the bucket. If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. A simple rally type speech would've been perfect to introduce the candidate, but instead he used his time and made a feeble attempt to mock the POTUS. I lost a bunch of respect for Mr. Eastwood last night.

I'm a big fan of Clint Eastwood, both movies he's directed and those he's acted in. If I may date myself, I still remember him from Rawhide (rollin', rollin', rollin', keep those doggies rollin', rawhide!). So, I was sad at the presentation he offered last night, that of an old guy who should have been directed if he was supposed to appear before the candidate. Clearly someone was too intimidated to check Eastwood before he went onstage. And now a wonderful filmmaker is a laughingstock. And this moment will probably be bookmarked for his obituary.

When he asked that a chair be brought onstage, did they think he might need to sit in it and instead of talk to it?

Damn! Clint Eastwood is 82 years old. His age dotage is beginning to become inflictive. Even so, He did rather well. I'll bet the President and Vice President both got a good laugh out of it. I know I did, and I'm certainly a sturdy fan of both the President and Vice President. Seems Romney and company are outright ashamed of Eastwood. That would be par for the course of that gang of losers. Actually, Clint Eastwood's appearance and performance was the greatest highlight of that miserable 4 day spectacle! Man, the truth sure hurts. The fact is that Clint was masterful! He was hilarious and serious at the same time. His points were right on. I must admit that I've never pictured Clint as a stand-up, but it's been a long time since I've laughed so hard. Think about it, just about every word out of his mouth made a point. Of course the libs are gong to bash him. They bash anyone who isn't a die-hard socialist. But, that's OK because libs have never been known for their sense of humor.

The fact is that the entire convention was fantastic. All you have to do is compare it to the catastrophe that will happen next week. Finally, I do believe all but the most die-hard libs will rally around Romney/Ryan. The contrast between them and Obama/Biden is amazing.

Can't wait for the elections to be over and we can start getting the country back on the right track!

    Romney/Ryan 2012!

PS: Imagine, no script, no telepromter and he made a heck of a lot more sense than anything Obama has ever said. I guess that's why the magic is gone from Obama. All the substance of hope and change? It was hot air from the beginning.

I guess the real reason it was so hilarious is that it was the whole truth and nothing but the truth! If Oblameo would spend a little time in his chair and meet with all the commissions he has appointed, he wouldn't be standing with his arms out wide yelling "Hit me! Hit me!" Obozo needs to spend more time in the White House trying to work with folks instead of golfing. Odumbo should spend more time in Washington at least trying to look presidential instead of either being on vacation, golfing, or fundraising (maybe he does brew beer if Mooshelle can get him off the golf course long enough).

Now, if we can just get Mitt elected, we will see a great upturn in the amount of work Congress can accomplish. But only if the master of the blockade, Harry Reid, is no longer the Senate majority leader.

This great artist has the right, as we all do, to his political beliefs and convictions, and being the artist He is, to so demonstrate. I wouldn't accept His politics if He gave the sh^t to me, however I sure love the man. My affection for the Man though, isn't the basis for my praise of His performance. He was damn funny! Now having said this, my love and respect for President Obama, and Vice President Biden are not diminished a damn whit! Surely, we progressives are not so insecure. Hell, the Romney/Ryan crowd were squeaming with embarrassment long before Clint finished His improvised skit, and now are all desperately trying to distance themselves from any knowledge of who invited Him. Talk about thin skinned pompous asses, but we all knew that already didn't we? Lighten up! We've got It under control, and the thin skinned, right wing, tea party extremists damn well know it!

    What Republicans Say:

Chris Christie - On Aug 28, 2012 Tampa, used the word "Truth" 16 Times in his keynote speech at the RNC convention. And he specifically said this…

    • We have a nominee who will tell us the truth and will lead with conviction. And now he has a running mate who will do the same.

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/28/transcript-chris-christie-speech-at-republican-national-convention/#ixzz259Pc6lKX

    What Republicans Do:

Romney pollster Neil Newhouse stated: "We're not going [to] let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers." ... on the same day as Christie's speech, during an ABC News/Yahoo! News event at the RNC Convention. ABCNews.com

    Then Paul Ryan Spoke:

and Fox News contributor Sally Kohn had this to say about Paul Ryan's convention speech on August 29th, 2012

    • … anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan's speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.

They're associating a particular fictional Hollywood icon to the Republican brand. The GOP Tea Party wants you to believe that the Dirty Harry character, and their Party, are one and the same.

They're marketing this in the grassroots portion of their online campaigns because they know their right-wing party's ever-more extreme ideology is losing popularity with the majority of television-watching Americans, that have such short attention spans but admire their fictional heroes on the silver screen.

while not everyone may have liked it, Eastwood's very presence -- and concern for out-of-work Americans in particular -- made the rambling remarks by the 82-year old Academy Award winner worthwhile.

Well, maybe if Eastwood had gotten his numbers right-- it's NOT 8.3% of the entire U.S. population that's unemployed, it's 8.3% of working-age adults, nowhere close to 23 million people-- his 'concern' might have carried some weight. As it was, it was just a blatant lie.

Do we want a man like Romney, a man who constantly lies to the public, a man who (despite his Harvard MBA) can't do simple math, a man who thinks he's smarter and better than all the rest of us and therefore can fool everyone with phony statistics, a man who can't or won't tell us how he could create millions of jobs overnight (for US this time, not for foreign workers!!)?

Do we want a man who believes if he repeats a lie often enough and loudly enough, it becomes truth?

I go to the movies and hope to be entertained and do not consider it too informative. I see Clint in his Dirty Harry part and enjoy him. I would be shocked if someone truly behaved in the way he is portrayed, but it is entertaining. I doubt if his performance would change anyone's mind on anything, but an actor's performance is judged on it's entertainment value. Apparently it was successful in that content. Does any-one truly think that actors influence the people watching them? We watch adverts constantly ,but most persons enjoy or dismiss the performance for what it is. Lighten up!

What was highlighted is today's republican party. Eastwood just symbolically laid it all out.

If you want to vote for a party lost in the past, a party that really doesn't get what is going on, that is full of rich senile old white men who live in an ancient Dirty Harry movie wielding big guns then vote Republican.

Paul Ryan called Romney a 'serious man' in his speech.

Then the Romney campaign demonstrated how 'serious' they are by putting up an ancient actor, mocking the President, to introduce their presidential candidate.

If the GOP is serious about family values, why choose Eastwood to introduce Romney?

If the GOP is serious about fixing unemployment, why lie about the number of unemployed?

If the GOP is serious about the future of our country, why cling to the people and the policies of the past that have been proven not to work, like big tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations that are still in place, still not working?

The answer is simple: the GOP is 'serious' about only one thing: getting their power back any way they can. They will lie, manipulate, obfuscate, deny the right to vote, and spend billions to achieve that one goal.

Why is Romney, an admittedly weak candidate, at the top of the ticket this year? In my opinion, it's because President Obama is going to be so hard to beat that no one in the GOP wanted to go up against him and face a humiliating loss. It was Romney's 'turn'. He has nothing else to do anyway. He hasn't worked a single day since he left his one-term office as Governor of Massachusetts in 2007.

Apparently Eastwood got confused and thought he was casting the role of president in one of his movies. Romney looks the part: old white man.

Romney would be a terrible president! Wake up to that, conservatives. We are all in the same boat here. If the GOP gets the reins, they will drive our country straight off the cliff.

It was insulting, disrespectful and demeaning to the office that Willard seeks. He evidently wants to make the highest office in the land a mockery, and then assume that position.

In addition to debasing their own party, Clint Eastwood did irreparable damage to his own persona. We are used to seeing him deliver crisp one liners, clenching a cigar in his teeth, his cold eyes going right through you. Without a script, or apparently even an idea where he was going, he started mumbling, repeating himself, trailing off, and his thought train was jumbled. He might as well have taken off his shirt and flexed for the crowd. It was one of the most embarrassing episodes I have ever seen, and I could only take 5 minutes and 45 seconds of it.

Clint Eastwood threw away something precious in his most recent 'performance' at the RNC:

    He threw away his dignity.

At 82, it's one of the most valuable possessions a person can have.

Better for him just to have stayed out in la-la land and enjoyed the rest of his days. Better to have left his reputation intact.

There's no fool like an old fool.

We can all easily forgive poor old senile Grandpa for coming to the dinner table in his boxers as many of us can't help but smile and chuckle aloud. Grandpa may be confused and even feel proud of himself for garnering all of the attention as we lead him back to his bedroom.

Those of us that loved and knew him well 20 years ago would feel the embarrassment he would certainly have felt had he known he would one day do such a thing. We would seek out and chastise the person(s) assigned to help him dress for dinner.

Clint Eastwood was poor old senile Grandpa. The RNC are those responsible for sending him on a national stage to thoroughly make a fool of himself for Mitt Romney's amusement.

Clint "make my day" Eastwood has long held political views that many of us may find disagreeable. However, we must respect that he briefly held political office and served with all of his convictions intact. That man would never have addressed an empty chair to parrot several obvious lies propagated and repeated at every opportunity by the Republican leadership. Shame on them!

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!

I see the little limp-wristed Libbies are still unable to grasp the fact that there are probably many more influential entertainers that don't submit to the train-wreck known as Barrack Hussein.

This shouldn't be a surprise to real Americans. When Barrack Hussein demonizes success and claims "you didn't build that", he hits right at the heart of Hollywood. From the actors, who many times had to survive on menial jobs as they perfected their skills, to the incredible advancements in movie-making special effects, they can claim "we did build that".

Of course the whining and hand-wringing will continue as the Liberal/Progressive cabal continues to collapse around itself. As social and economic justice is disproven over and over hopefully the real America people will continue their advocacy for Constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility and free-market principles.

Clint Eastwood is a perfect example of what our nation should be embracing. His little metaphor was eloquent and inspirational. The pandering lamestream media will be in shock for weeks as they reassess their positions of who to support. Hopefully the rest of America will understand.

Can you say foley, haggard and craig? The honey pot did more business this week than it has all year.

Anyway it's your party who is so afraid of it's own shadow that you need to carry guns where ever you go. And you guys just keep eating at chick-fil-a, and scarfing down your pink slime burgers and genetically modifed food in support of the companies we are boycotting while we tree hugging granola eating liberals eat organic and in a few years you will all be a senile as clint. Plus President Obama could kick your nominees ass anyday and no amount of magic underwear would help mittens this time.

FYI - On "Real Time with Bill Maher" the host disassembled the creator of the movie "2016" He made that guy look like a total fool.

Bill's show last night was one of his best. That guy (don't remember his name) who created that documentary is as 'bananas' as the rest of the republican party. He really believes that Obama is "channeling" his dead father??! LOL

Nothing Clint could have said or done at the RNC could ever be approved by the libretards! Now if he had been at the DNC and Mitt Romney occupied that empty chair... we'd all be hearing roars of approval from the wacko left!

Left is fuzzy... I don't believe that. Clint could have easily delivered a very middle of the road down to earth speech that focused more on what he viewed as getting American government back to the basics and been successful. That being said what he did and what he said was just sad. I actually really felt bad for him and the fact that advisors in Romneys camp had to spin the moment as "unique" is their way of saying that they wish he hadn't spoke. Again, I just feel kind of saddened and sorry for Clint. I know he has/had much more in him than that debacle.

Hey! Mr. Eastwood, since you republicans in the cesspool of hollywood have attempted to remain anonymous and now that you are 82 you decided to come out of the closet so to speak, how does it feel to be ground under the feet of the liberal democrat freaks. In just two days since your commentary (of which I enjoyed very much, because I believe as you do) and I do believe you came up with that all on yor own, they have turned you into a senile almost dead person, and shame on the republican party for taking advantage of a senile old man. I am a independent, and while I do not care for the republicans platform, I hate the stab you in the back, lie to your face, filthy rich, butt kissing, democratic party. Personally, I thought ole Clint was quite creative, and at the same time realistic. I say realistic, because an empty chair is all anyone is ever going to get when it comes to questioning Barry Soetoro about his accomplishments. Ole Barry refuses to give Fox News an interview, because he knows he can't lie his way out. Barry hasn't got an ounce of spine, less than a fraction of any conservative president over the past 50 years, all of whom have faced the criticization and questioning attacks of the Liberal Lame Stream Media at large, yet, when ole Barry see's a Fox News camera, he runs like hell.

Obama hasn't got a HOPE, nor a PRAYER..... the only tactic left in his box is Smear & Fear. Of course, he'll always have the option to steal all the "R's" from the Whitehouse keyboards, and deficate on the PC monitors, but that would be an old stunt for the liberal democrats, not a new one.

One was Bill O'Reilly, and the other was Brett (I don't remember his last name, but I'm sure the FOX Noise viewers on here know him), aand both were badgers. They weren't really interviews as much as they were question and answer routines by the host. By that I mean, they asked the questions and answered them before the Pres. could open his mouth. If I were being treated that way, by FOX hosts, I wouldn't bother being interviewed by them either. MSNBC also has badgers as well. Chris Matthews ands Lawrence O'Donnell come to mind.

I wonder how the teabaggers feel about Reagan being the President that ran up the debt more than any other in history, with a total increase of 188% over 8 years. Party Boy Bush increased the debt a whopping 89%. *I already know the righties will blame this on someone else.
In three and a half years, the Obama administration has increased the debt a total of 41%. Not good enough, but half what Bush did, and almost one fifth of Reagan.

If you want to talk lower debt, you don't want a Republican in office. They think because the own the banks, they can incur as much debt as they want. Dick Cheney said that deficits don't matter. They do. This party is so discombobulated it is not funny.

The latter being understandable, cause really, who would want to risk Georgie blurting out any new "Bushisms" during the big party (circus)?

It might well be that Clint Eastwood is smarter than all of us, with the possible exception of Jon Stewart and Obama, who both seemed to get it.

For years now, Republicans have been talking to an empty chair, making up all sorts of weird things about the President. Was Mr Eastwood insulting the President? Or was he mocking the Republicans who insult the President?

Yes...the man on the stage ended up looking pretty stupid. But everyone here seems to be forgetting that this is one of Hollywood's best actors. Is he a moron, or was he playing a moron?

Given that the Republican Convention organizers had no idea what he was going to be doing, and that he himself has expressed support in the past for many liberal ideals, I would think it could very well be the second option.

As an improv speaker or comedian, he fails miserably. Guess that just goes to show that Sarah Palin doesn't have a lock on "going rogue" amongst Republicans.

Interesting thing about the internet, isn't it? You can't prove what you say about with unassailable facts, nor can I disprove it for the same reasons, supposing I cared enough to try. The difference in what I posted, as opposed to what you boasted, is that it was precisely those same millions of people you spoke of who witnessed it. The office of the President demands respect but the person currently there deserves nothing, he has degraded the Presidency with his bowing down to kiss the butts of our enemies, he has opened the closets of homosexuality in our military and it will destroy it, he has put this country in so much debt it is doubtful that Romney can fix it. Most of all he has made the most powerful country in the world look like a bunch of fools. He was voted in just because he is black of which he is actualy half white. It really has to give you pause when the biggest news out of the Republican convention is a hurricane that didn't hit but caused them to cancel, and an 82 year old actor's ramblings about nothing. Oh yeah, and their conventioneers throwing peanuts at an African-American camerawoman from CNN as they taunted "Let's feed the monkeys". Was anybody nominated there, and if so did they speak? I must have missed the news on that.

I especially liked the part where Eastwood accussed Obama of starting the Afghanistan war without checking with the Russians to see how it worked out for them. Now THAT was funny

Just add this weird 10 minutes on the last night of the convention to the list.

Putting Romney on a corporate farm in Iowa with a spaceship farmhouse in the background.

Renting a venue that made his speech appear to be before an empty arena.

having a yacht rented by his corporate sponsors with a Cayman flag flying in Tampa Bay.

HIs team so far seem like amateurs.

I agree. How is going to assemble a team to run the country when they can't handle an event. The people who helped with this cluster f will be the same people getting cabinet positions as a thank you. What the hell happened to the GOP...and I would like to see a fiscal conservative in office not a bunch of hacks and liars.

and pull what amounts to a three day cheerleading session off without throwing peanuts at a black woman in totally friendly territory, how in the world would they be able to run a country? Did you notice they didn't flaunt his foreign policy credentials? After all, he went over to London and insulted one of our closest allies by saying they weren't ready for the Olympics. Then he flip-flopped the next day and said they were ABSOLUTELY ready. (Like SEVERELY conservative)
Lastly, he busts Clint Eastwood out of his retirement home and shoves him up on stage. What a likeable guy!

What is Romney gonna say, "I'll get back to you." when asked ANY question ?

Since he does not have a policy that he hasn't changed his mind on at least once, is he gonna have to ask Grover Norquist before he responds ?

That statement is indicitive of the sure lunacy in which some on the right live their lives. They truly live in a fantasy world....which is probably why they enjoyed that embarrassing display by Eastwood last night.

Heartlight, I think you have it nailed....a lot will depend on the debate moderators. If it winds up being a glorified stump speech, Romney will do fine.....if it winds up being a genuine give and take, Romney is screwed.

I thought that chair was reserved for a guest of honor, you know somebody like GW Bush the republican who was president for 8 years, has he been banished from the republican party, is he living in exile somewhere? Maybe he just had more important things to do than attend his party's convention, he must have had some brush to cut down in Texas. Take a hint republicans, look at how these Koch brothers, and oil company executives, and such will treat you, poor George got used like the only women on a pirate ship, and now they don't even invite him to the republican convention.

They at least showed a recorded clip of Bush. They totally alienated the Ron Paul supporters by pretending to honor him, but changing the rules so his name was not even put up on the board. They replaced half of the Maine delegation with Romney delegates to prevent his name from being entered into nomination. The Libertarians should now know that the Republican party is dishonest like the rest.

I'm not a Paul supporter. I'm voting Libertarian this year, because Romney is a sellout.

I agree but if they force them to answer the tough questions Romney will be twisting in the wind, he has too many well documented self contradictions on every issue that he will be tortured in the debates, there is no way can sensibly reconcile his contradictions and the failure to release his taxes, if he is forced too.

"Wow" apparently was too blinded by Clint's light to notice Romney had TWO teleprompters in front of him. TWO, but he still whines about Obama using one. Oh, and Eastwood DID have a teleprompter on stage as well, too bad he apparently didn't use it. Especially when he tried to blame Obama for getting us into Afghanistan.

Mr. Eastwood owes the President of the US an apology and all of us. I am so sick and tired of these guys and their total lack of respect for this President. And why is that? Is it because he is black? or a Progressive? Why? Their hate is so intense it has suddenly become frightening.

The republican convention has proven to America that hate is alive and well in this country and it was furthered by the political hacks that took to the stage, telling one lie after another. And some Americans grasped on to that brass ring and will continue to foster the lies.

Here's my message to the republicans: I hope you suffer the largest defeat in history. Perhaps then your party will realize that lies don't work and that all classes of people matter...not just the wealthy.

Obama would have done himself a favor bowing out after one term, frankly.. i wouldnt want to wish the job on anyone the way the economy and unemployment is. I can not recall any President getting re elected with the way things are for a second term. if you want to see hate and disrespect, scroll the pages here and take your horse blinders off..tally up on the winners without using your own Political hatred.

                    Hey Billy,

Tell me.....what was going on when Obama took office? Oh yeah, the whole banking/wall street fiasco and global recession.

How many jobs were we losing? 839,000 in January, 2009 and 8 million total from July, 2008 - June, 2009.

How many jobs have been created in the last 30 months? 5 million (according to the CBO)

In other words....we were falling off the cliff when Obama took office....Obama stopped it....and reversed its trend. There is NO getting past that.

Sorry champ....the only one with horse blinders on are the pathetic boobs that try to rewrite history.

It was extreme disrespect for the office and the man in every aspect. If the President of the United States WERE there and did speak in that manner, you'd shut up. Obama does not behave in that manner, and words were unfairly put in his mouth, and given legitimacy by the Romney campaign. They defend Eastwood. It is inexcusable, and if someone had the poor judgment to do the same thing to Bush, there'd be outrage.

A public apology is warranted from the old white guy, Romney, and the RNC.; no less.

I think we have turned a dangerous corner where if the only way to win an election is to completely decimate the other's character; especially a sitting President. Not too long ago, there were lines that weren't crossed...there was decency. Whether we had differences with one another didn't distract from the fact that we still were one nation. Now, that is no longer the case.

The current GOP believes there are two countries....they just hope theirs can conquer the other. The new GOP is unAmerican and unpatriotic. They MUST be removed from office.

I thought the same thing. It is time to stop this. I believe Obama will handle it in an appropriate manner, and draw that contrast that will help people make the right decision.

My god, the Left has become a tribe of delusional, whining elitists, as certain of their moral superiority as the most rabid religious fundamentalists, as hateful as Klan members, unable to laugh at their own foibles, embracers of double-standards in opposition to their views, a coven of dullards convinced that they possess a collective intellectual superiority over both foes and the simple, downtrodden folk whom they claim to protect. Those of you drunk on Red Kool-Aid and Blue Kool-aid are sick in mind and spirit and are slowly poisoning the character of an entire nation.

But the romney man has already said that he would do nothing to curb global warming. That in fact he will create thousands and thousands of new jobs to create tons of more co2. Doubling the national output of co2. To accelerate global warming and make katrina's come not once every 7 years but once every three years and then with less and less time in between. All the while cutting, yes cutting disaster aid. Like saint paul wanted to do - cut $7B from disaster aid. To balance the budget so that the wealthy do not have to pay their fair share of taxes. And why - let the rich get richer, poor poorer, let the middle class disappear. It's the mantra of mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com

But what can you say. You can tell mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com are ideologues. They have difficulty with the facts and the truth. It's why they have problems with science - the branch of knowledge dealing with the body of facts and truths. They have a war on science, can't handle the truth, and the facts. So be careful of what they will tell you. They have a culture of lies, full of racial hatred and the special problems pertaining only to women.

I tell you the romney man believes that global warming is only the rising of the seas. Like the sea surge during isaac and katrina. No. No. It's much more than that. It's the melting polar ice caps, 110 degree heat waves that go on for nearly a month at a time, hurricanes that stay nearly 24 hours over one spot while expending the equivalent of a nuclear bomb every 3 minutes, drought and soooo much more. Killing soooo much wild life and sea life and plant life. Sooo much more than just a storm surge. The bottom line - mr grover, the gop, the rushbo, & foxnews.com plan to make global warming worse - cause it to accelerate.

What clint eastwood was doing with the empty chair - he was talking to a higher power. It was why his speech was the most realistic of any at the rnc convention. What does a man of 82 years do. Seek more money, more power, more fame. No. No. No. He seeks to make amends with a higher power. And eastwood was setting an example for all. Not a single lie. Unlike all the other speakers - loaded with lies. Sure obama still has problems. But not wrt medicare, welfare, turning the economy around, obamacare. Eastwood needed to settle with his creator in this life time before it's his time comes.

Rahm Emanuel - I've heard he has been begging the DNC so he could avoid bing shot

Harry Reid - Is he going to identify his source on Romney's not paying taxes? Harry, Mickey Mouse did not work at Bain!

Nancy Pelosi - She will admit that she didn't read the ACA (Obamacare) but will when she learns to read

John Kerry - will tell us he will supply Heinz ketchup to put on our hot dogs and hamburgers..too bad nobody can afford them due to all the corn going for gas and not feeding pigs and cattle

John Lewis - Will explain Biden's 'put y'all back in chains " comment. They were first going to use Charles Wrangel, but he chastised Biden and said it definitely was race baiting

Elizabeth Warren - Will take credit for obama's knowing that "you didn't build that, someone else did"

Bill Clinton - will explain how his sexual exploits with unwilling advances shows that Democrats are for women

Eric Holder - Heard that Charlotte might be a good place to buy some more guns for the cartels

Eva Longoria - Given a speaking assignment as payback for "couching" Bill Clinton on his speech in his hotel room...woops! I meant "coaching"

After forcing myself to read the entire nonsense posted by Helmethead, I am even more convinced that he and other Rightys have had intellectual lobotomies as required by their GOP Mullahs, so they are now incapable of posting anything but insults and pre-written Party Talking Points.

This lobotomized Righty seems to also have undergone a complete radical humor-ectomiy! Which would certainly explain why absolutely nothing he wrote was in the least bit funny. (Even Clint Eastwood's worst comments were funnier that Helmethead's entire post.)

we had HOPE that the hate-mongering

around the rest of the world to be restored --- a CHANGE back to the glory
amongst nations we once knew --- after bush succeeded at making us look like
                                fools on a global scale.

accomplished the second goal, with an over-abundance of intelligence, good grace,

The white ruling class? You'll see more black and Hispanic representatives in the REPUBLICAN Party as the years role by. Look ahead to the convention next week. It'll be like Jurassic park, trotting out the same tired old anti-establishment nuts. Imagine Bill Clinton talking about (gag) women's rights. Do you know (and you can look this up) that the majority of Hispanic representatives in our country, be it governors, mayors etc, are Republicans? Dr ML King was a registered Republican. Are they perfect? Not at all. But they simply have a better grasp on the economy, defense and responsible spending without a Democratic Congress trying to hijack every bill and ramming them through without advise and consent. The past 4 years have been BLEAK! And there wasn't a single Republican bill passed by Congress. You see when happens?

Joe - And just how many years are we talking about here? Let's look a bit closer in the future, when does the Republican party intend to stop victimizing minorities? New Jim Crow laws in every state with a Republican governor or legislature, elimination of funds for Planned Parenthood which means limiting funds for contraceptives while on the other hand cutting benefits like food stamps, shipping lower skilled jobs to foreign countries.... The list just goes on and on. But then I know some people who are staunch Republicans even though they really don't get any benefit from it (To put it mildly) so I suppose it's possible.
