NBC's Brian Williams spoke with Mitt Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, at the Republican National Convention in Tampa. When asked about Republican platforms on abortion and whether or not there should be exceptions for rape or incest, Ryan said most women are asking about economic growth and the education of their children.
TAMPA, Fla. -- Paul Ryan acknowledged that more factors than just President Obama contributed to the closing of a General Motors plant in his hometown at the height of the auto industry's troubles in 2008.
Despite appearing to assign the president sole blame for the decision to place a Janesville, Wis., GM plant on standby during his speech Thursday night at the Republican National Convention, Ryan made some clarifications, while still chiding Obama for making a promise to help keep the plant open.
“The point about the plant in my hometown, President Obama came there and campaigned in the plant in 2008. And he said this plant will be here for another 100 years," Ryan said in an interview with NBC's Brian Williams. "He got elected. He put his policies in place. The plant's empty. Nobody works there anymore."
Paul Ryan may have gotten a rock star reception on Wednesday at the Republican National Convention, but the White House pushed back aggressively about the veracity of his entire speech. NBC's Chuck Todd reports.
Ryan left the door open that other factors may have contributed to the factory, which produced SUVs, closing down.
“Well, I think really what got the plant was $4 gas," Ryan said. "A lack of an energy policy, and that-- that pre-dates the Obama years. We need a better energy policy in this country.”
The seven-term Wisconsin congressman then returned to his role of campaign attack dog Thursday night when asked about the auto bailout, which President Obama pushed for and Mitt Romney opposed.
“We had a political bankruptcy and what happened is the Obama administration put themselves in the position of picking winners and losers," he said, "and I don’t think that was one in keeping with the rule of law."
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan addresses the 2012 RNC.

Really, is that all you got? If it is, you're in big trouble, sonny. That's about as weak as a wet noodle. That plant was scheduled to close down several years before that. Having been around auto plants my entire life, I know they just don't come along and lock the place up. That Janesville plant was antiquated and would've cost a fortune to upgrade. Get your facts straight before you fling crap Mr. Ryan. I bet it's taken you all day to clean that off of your shoes. LOL.
This folks... is what we refer to as a crab-walk backwards!
How about Eddie Munster, begging for stimulus money which he denied until he got busted for it?
All this time I was under the impression it was Willard who was the pathological serial liar...
...after listening to Eddie, Willard has NOTHING on him!
So the plant was scheduled to close for several years. What did the career politician representing that district do to prevent that? Shouldn't that congressman take the blame, not the President who hadn't even taken the oath of office yet when the plant was closed?
in other words, " I know it's not his fault but I'm gonna lie and blame him anyway"
SO, really, if a president was responsible for this closing, it was...?
No that is not it.
I reviewed his speech. Ryan never said that the plant closing was Obama's fault. He pointed out that Obama made a promise to a plant that failed and that that is an empty promise. What Ryan was doing was comparing this experience with the millions that lost their jobs to such closing since Obama became president never to be re-opened.
Great point, Al. He was certainly closer to the situation than the POTUS. The fact that he used the promise to keep it open a hundred years is totally grasping at straws. Even worse is his backtracking on it today. I'm afraid they're going to be doing a lot of that as the campaign swings into high gear. Will be fun to watch. As some folks on here say "popcorn!"
That just sunk straight to the bottom of the pool.
DB Akron: So Obama made an empty promise that he couldn't keep because the plant closed down before he was elected. Why would this even be worthy of any discussion by Ryan. He made the claim so people would blame Obama for the closing. What a pathetic argument. Bet you drink the (Fox News) Kool-Aid every day.
Speaking of closing plants down, Rolling Stone has a nice look at Mitt's storied career at Bain. An excerpt:
Obama 2012/Romney 1040
The bottom of the pool would be the level of understanding you seem to have about Economics- in this case, micro.
There is a world of difference between "closed" and "idled". A closed plant has all of its equipment removed, nominal security- and, despite that, broken windows, looted pipes, overgrown weeds- you see them every day.
An idled plant has its equipment intact and maintained; as a result, security is high- too much loss nvolved if it is vandalized. It's ready to go on very short notice.
That Janesville plant?
Idled.
Still.
Despite Obama's promises.
It's okay, though.
He knows as much about economics as do you.
OH PUHLEEZE!
When even NewsforDumbFux finds his comments so egregious... best to just STFU!
Is this the part where we are supposed to take you what say seriously?
Says the broad who only last week proclaimed that rape disrupts ovulatiom!
No offense Snookie-Joe if we don't listen to anything you have to say...
Oh, and did he happen to mention that R-money wouldn't have bailed out ANY plants???
Or did he repeat once AGAIN that Obama will take $718 Billion from Medicare (the EXACT same amount in Ryan's plan) because, you know, republicons are now the champions(!) of Medicare.
Pay no attention to the voucher plan behind the curtain...the mighty Oz has spoken.
DB Akron:
Sad to say, you're wasting your breath (or keystrokes, in this case). Democrats, liberals, progressives will read what they want so desperately to read, and hear what they so desperately want to hear. They've distorted what Ryan said, basically that Obama made a promise, got elected, and didn't/couldn't keep it, into Ryan is blaming Obama for the plant closure. And it's not that these distorters lack intelligence. They are smart. But they use their intelligence to create ways to twist what's been said so as to serve their own purposes and beliefs.
In all fairness, Republicans, conservatives do this too.
I sure wish we could just talk about the facts. But in this day and age of journalists with agenda, it's difficult to know who is being factual and who is distorting the truth. What's a voter to do?
Fox News had this to say about Paul Ryan's convention speech on August 29th, 2012
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/#ixzz254a2euWo
Whenever we catch a GOP/Republican/Conservative/TeaBagger in a LIE we can post:
(This should become even more popular than "Bend it like Beckham", given how man more GOP/Republican/Conservative/TeaBagger LIARS there are versus soccer players world-wide. Can't throw a dead cat without hittin' a Lyin Ryan!)
@Jon,
WOW.
My hope is that the truth about these guys who are deliberately lying will continue to come out.
This is getting ridiculous.
Even Fox News had to balk at Ryan's speech.
I do believe that the modern-day Republican Party is throwing a Hail Mary pass- but just might be painting itself into a corner.
The point Ryan was making is that Obama went in there and made promises he couldn't keep. This is where the liberals purposefully miss it. They want to attack Ryan for saying it but what did Obama say? I think pandering to factory workers is a whole lot worse than telling everyone what Obama said.
Simply stated... Obama lied! But don't tell Obama that, it would crush his ego.
DB, BrianB.....Nice Spin!
You KNOW he meant people to come away with the idea that the closing was Obama's fault. He wasn't even President when it was announced to be closed, or when it actually closed!
Ryan IS the CONGRESSMAN from the DISTRICT. If ANYbody in government should be blamed, it's RYAN himself.
Glad he's being called out on this. He's not going to get away with this kind of crap. Only the adoring audience eats this stuff up, and they're already Romney voters.
SmBusOwnerinNY... I never got that impression. Maybe you did, but I can understand why. You walked away with that impression because you didn't understand the message. Obama pandered, won the election and did nothing to help them. Very typical of Chicago type tactics in politics. I'll bet most of those factory workers voted for Obama too, based on his promises. You see, you never see Obama as he is. You only see Obama in the vision you have for him, no matter how deluded that vision is.
Only the most gullible on the right believe what Ryan says. As was posted above, he was the Congressman, it was his district, and he apparently was asleep at the switch.
Lyin Ryan. In one night, he lets America see what his moral compass is.
there should be exceptions for rape or incest, Ryan said most women are asking about economic growth and the education of their children.
Talk about " nit witty" abstracts... Ryan just pulled that out of the clouds
75% believed that abortion should be generally available, and 2% believed that abortion should not be permitted.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_the_United_States
Yes, wonder boy, women are worried about your Draconian budget and how it would effect their getting fair pay.
Will MYTH Romney repeal Lilly Ledbetter ? What's that you have to get back to us later.
http://thinkprogress.org/progress-report/gop-war-on-women-mitt-romney-edition/
Now I understand why you named yourself Low IQ... it fits.
Backpedal, lie, backpedal, lie some more ....
And they (the RNC) keep saying that they are the party of America! Well, I respect the President and honor the position. For two flip-flopping liars to try and obtain that office, seriously makes me wonder about the education status in this country. Seriously GOP - this is the best you could dig out of the bottom of your well??????
Newday you contradict the message of the liberals. Liberals are saying that the plant was scheduled to shut down... and now you are saying that Ryan could have done something to prevent it... Ryan didn't make that promise, Obama did... and now you completely over look the bullsh!t Obama told them.
Let's try "President Obama is not even remotely or partially to blame for the empty plant!"
That's how you take RESPONSIBILITY.
And we're supposed to TRUST you? Really?
What a beady-eyed little weasel Paul Ryan is turning out to be!
Make no mistake about it, Paul Ryan is just your typical low-life, bottom-feeding Politician who has never turned down a Spending bill or Pork-barrel project, or a Lobbying bribe he didn't like.
Plus I thought Mitt Romney's Mormonism was a little Kinky, to say the least, but do you know that Paul Ryan worships at the Altar of Ayn Rand, the Infamous Author who wrote the GOP Republican's Bible "Atlas Shrugged", where Ayn Rand is quoted as saying the Poor are merely Insects and Parasites.
That's Not very Christian, now is it?
Plus Ayn Rand, the darling of the Republican Party for her Extremist anti-government rants, was Not above taking Full advantage of every single Social Security benefit she could suckle from the teat of Government.
What a phony Ayn Rand, Paul Ryan, and Mitt Romney are.
And that's why this once proud Republican is Encouraging Everybody, and I mean Everybody, to Vote a straight Democratic ticket come this November 2012.
I don't want to go back to the dark-days of Bush/Cheney/Darth Vader/ Karl Rove/Haliburton Oil/ and BlackHawk Mercenaries. Do you?
All Hail Obama!
Ruler, Master, and Overlord of all you Republicans! Yeah!
Don't mind her if she's a little angry. MTV has cancelled Jersey Shore.
Gaaaawd, another Bimbo praising MYTH and his family. Get off the stage I don't want to hear about his family. I want to hear what his plans are in succinct language. I also want to see his tax returns before the USA tries to elects a lying felon.
Queen Anne showing your Costo card would help Americans believe you aren't lying too.
Oh, and when you were living in a basement, by choice, eating tuna did Dad sent the Butler over too see if you wanted "Chicken of the Sea" from the can or a silver platter.
Obama promised no plants will close during his Presidency and three years into his Presidency the plant is closed.
Obama promised to close Gitmo by the end of his first year of his Presidency and Gitmo is still open.
These are very simple examples.
Ohhhh that dirty Ryan..... he lies, cheats, steals, skewers cats and then eats them... he performs ungodly acts, will stab your mother, he'll take all your goods, he'll rob you blind... according to liberals who are all trying to cling to their Obama.
Wow, brian, even for YOU that is a pretty far leap into the deep end of the pool without your floaties!
How to make it simple for you, so difficult, because you can't handle complicated information:
A. GM announced in 2008 the plant would close.
B. Bush was President.
C. Ryan represents that district.
D. He failed the people he is supposed to represent.
Got it?
“We had a political bankruptcy and what happened is the Obama administration put themselves in the position of picking winners and losers," he said
Yeah, Ryan, and who was it who PUT us into bankruptcy?
Who was it who bankrupted that auto plant in your town?
Tell the truth, now.
Somebody had to come in and pick up the pieces and figure out which ones could be saved.
Calm down Brian. We're just trying to show what a pair of dolts your party is nominating for the White House. He doesn't do any of those things you've mentioned... well on second thought, the first three he does profusely.
Five words to describe Paul Ryan's speech and his behavior since he was made the Vice Presidential Candidate for the Republican Party. Liar, Liar, and outright Liar!!
From the day of he became the President, Obama should have recognized that Republicans were plotting to undermine him from Day One. At least now President Obama's campaign should go right after RMoney and Ryan with a big swing and it is the only way to beat Romney like he did for John McCain.
Convention 'Mystery Guest'
The mystery guest at the Republican Convention will be the ghost of Ronald Reagan summoned by the true believers in the GOP (Greedy Old People ). Or it could be the Incredible Disappearing George W. Bush?
Why isn't "MYTH" Romney trending on twitter? Instead Target is trending. People are saying now that know "MYTH" had something to do with Target they won't shop there anymore. Flip! Bain is trending too; but not in a good way.
And that's big news, because the DetNews is die hard Republican to the core. Man, their ship is sinking faster than the Titanic.
But, but, but - we never PROMISED we'd do anything! It's all Obama!

Ryan called a LIAR by FOX NEWS
Deceiving
On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.

Newdaydawning said: A. GM announced in 2008 the plant would close.
Stop.
If GM announced the plant would close... how could Obama say that the plant will be open for another 100 years? How could he tell the workers that?
Does this escape you? Or are you just trying to avoid the promise that Obama made where he pandered?
This is a typical avoidance issue with you liberals. When faced with what nasty things Obama does, you completely skirt it, avoid it, and ignore it. Hell, you won't even admit that what Obama did was wrong and he lied.
You want the road to go only one way, but it doesn't. You don't make the rules... Obama did wrong and you want to blame it on Ryan who never made that promise.
Breaking news: Mia Love and Artur Davis are the kinds of Negroes the Koch bros love. They represent the Koch Bros' American dream.
Put shining examples of being "Koched Up" to keep Black people and minorities down.
For those two Negroes, things go better with Koch. For Blacks, minorities, and the rest of the 99% not so much.
Thanks, Lush, you beat me to it. Poor brian, so willing to believe anything that the "teabaggers" tell him.
The problem is the President making statements and even promises about stuff that he really knows not enough about. He makes statements and promises that sound real good at the time but turn out to be really meaningless. GITMO is a very well known example. The President said, unconditionally that GITMO would close within one year of his becoming President. He was very emphatic about and he assured the people that he had the power and it would be done. Well GITMO is still open. What is your excuse Mr. President? Another example it the White House dog. The President declared the White House dog would be a mutt, "like me", from a shelter yet the dog they got was a pure bread who had never set foot in a shelter. The President is suppose to be the most powerful man in the free world yet he cannot keep his word on something as trivial as the White House dog. What is your excuse Mr. President? It sounded good at the time but then apparently became inconvenient so apparently the President figured the heck with it. The list goes on and on. The President said that he would go over the health care bill, "line by line", with my congressman and any other law maker in Washington who requested it and that all proceedings would appear on CSPAN. I am still waiting for the broadcasts to take place. Sure, the President has kept some of his promises but he should be keeping all of them. If the President cannot keep a promise then he should not be making then. I see that this time around the President is being a lot more careful about promising anything.
Can I just say that I am overjoyed by how absolutely twisted the Obama worshippers are by Ryan?
Can't wait for the reaction to Romney's speech.
And the posts on the day after election day.
So- tell me, is Michelle right? That November 2? Cause, I was pretty sure it was another date. . .
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/michelle-obama-get-polls-november-2_650573.html
These two MittWitt's were pulled behind the curtain by the "major contributors" and told to knock off the "Obama bashing "..its was creating more of a problem .
Sorry, bub! Michael Jackson's Moon Walk was super cool and totally original... you sir, are just slithering backward.
Clint Eastwood: Mr President you didn't check with Russia about Afghanistan.
Hey Clint tell that to McCain.
You know, before people run around screaming the talking points the mainstream media feeds them, they might, actually, like to do a little research
http://gazettextra.com/news/2009/feb/19/gm-plant-last-day-finalized/
Check the date on the article.
By the way-Eastwood?
Completely slaughtering Obama.
Wow, Clint Eastwood just said we own this country? Would that be the GOP (Greedy Old White People)?
Oligarchy??? You decide as FOX Lies says. Wait, that's Faux News deceives right wing nut jobs believe!!!
4 more 4 44
Obama/Biden 2012
And the Republicans actually thought it was a good idea to put a senile old fool on stage ahead of Romney? The only thing Clint forgot to do was yell at the President to get off his lawn. That was surreal....bizarre...geeeeeezzz What a senile old fool!
Obama 2012/Romney 1040/Eastwood Movies Never Again
But the republican congress then started a movement to block all prisoner transfers !
Every GD thing that comes out of a republican's mouth is an out and out lie. Every single damn thing. There is NOT ONE solid success they can point to that should earn them the right to be in the Oval Office.
Romney? Bail Out King Master. He owes his success to being bailed out.
And he can't call health care in MA a success, because he has decided to turn his back on that little bit of legislation. Of course as a republican he would have to turn his back on health care legislation. Republicans aren't in the business of helping anyone but themselves.
The GOP has succeeded at nothing except lying to our faces. Republican voters know it but as we have seen, republicans just loved being lied to. That's what draws them to each other. They can't get by on competence, so they get by on lies. 24/7.
You look at that audience at this convention and listen to their insane speeches, and all you really want to do is take a shower. Clueless about American and today's world.
Anyone notice how "diverse" the crowd is? I didn't think so.
Gee, I remember not that long ago when the GOP was down on Hollywood. They were called every name in the book. You know why? Because they cared about America, they cared about the planet, they cared about human rights and civil rights and education and peace and all that stuff. So the GOP convinced the uninformed that they were communists.
Reagan? Eastwood? Aren't they "Hollywood"? I thought so.
Both terrible actors. Dull actors. Just like this year's GOP presidential candidate.
Dull.
You mean, Pat, that the people who told the story of Romney visiting their 14 year old, dying of cancer- was a lie?
That Romney, swallowing his human compassion, and his feelings as a father, actually indulging that boy and writing up his last Will and Testament, was- what? A fabrication?
Get real.
That was totally embarrassing. Like listening to grandpa ramble on at Thanksgiving dinner. This is turning out to be one hell of a comedy show the RNC has put on this week. Now, the big tuna takes the stage.
no joe, no bo, nj
By the way-Eastwood?
Completely slaughtering Obama.
N0 NO NO Jo , Clint Eastwood is a dolting old fool . He can't even remember his lines He should join Gov Chris Christe at the buffet bar back stage.
Paul Ryan is a blatant LIAR and full of B.S!!! That auto plant was shut down under the Bush Regime AND BEFORE OBAMA WAS EVEN ELECTED. Once a liar, always a liar !! Is that what we need in the White House. And Romney , the Flip-Flopping Clown doesn't need to show his taxes so that we are not aware of his off shore accounts, where he plans to send more jobs overseas.
Do they really think that everyone (not of the 2% elite) are ignorant?? Or is that like a legitimate rape/ illegitimate rape, or a good murder/bad murder? I guess that depends on which income level one comes from .
@ Lush - you just proved how inexperienced Obama was for the job of Presidency.
Obama did promise to close Gitmo but he should have known that Congress holds all the power.
I laughed when Obama first made that promise during his campaign in 2008 because I knew he would not be able to do it because of Congress.
Bush even knew he himself could not close Gitmo as much as he wanted to at the time.
"Obama not solely to blame for auto plant failure"?
That is true, but I prefer the Gop VP candidate to go on offensive and lie his arse off, thus helping the Democrats along the way.
Lush Limpballs
"Wow....you're just ate with hate and anger.....you're Pathetic..."
You really need psychiatric help... seriously...
Ryan is complete political liar and fraud. At his town meetings in Janesville he was asked how cutting 40% of the taxes for the rich was going to help pay down the deficit. He couldn't. Now he has filled his acceptance speech with more lies. I see today, under pressure, he has changed some of his blame on Obama for the plant closing in Janesville! A true republican't!
To everyone that says Ryan is a lying dirt bag politician. You're 100% correct. To those of you who know Ryan based on his speeches and what you see in the media, you don't deal with him in person and don't know what him and his family are like in real life, I do. I know people who deal with him all the time and the consensus is "he's a complete idiot, and looks and acts like a used car salesman"
What the hell does Ryan mean when he says "not solely to blame?!?"
He's not to blame at f'ing all!! He wasn't even President when the damn plant closed!
This is like saying "Obama isn't solely to blame for the start of World War II." WTF is he talking about?!?
No, Obama wasn't the only one to blame....Unions had the company in a financial stranglehold as well.
Please note on the #1 comment how many are pro Obama and how many on the other side attempted to respond in a reasonable and informative way just to be collapsed by the community? Who is this community? NBC?
This forum will soon cease to exist for this very reason just like the one at Fox News as it has become a place for the "Obama gang" to vent their anger at ALL opposing views regardless of the truth or the substance therein.
Ryan lies! Most dishonest speech ever! Between just this and Romney's taxes, how could anyone vote for these conniving cut-throat mercenaries??? Are people really that ignorant to vote for them???
Is Paul Ryan even capable of telling the truth ?
What is really scary about Ryan is he can look straight into the camera and lie directly to your face...
When I was listening to him, I had to stop and realize what he's saying, is just not true...
Guess we'll be hearing more lies in the next nine plus weeks....
I can't for the life of me understand why the article doesn't state that this plant closed down in June 2008. Obama wasn't even President yet. Ryan is right Obama wasn't the sole factor of this plant closing... he's no factor at all.
Why the slant on NBC? The way this article is written it still leaves it that Obama is somewhat connected to this plant's closing. Anybody have a clue as to why this was omitted by a news company?
LMAO! Ryan made some "clarifications" after his speech on Thursday. You mean, he LIED on Thursday, and went on air AFTERWARDS to make an attempt to correct himself. After all, the GOP party are not going to be affected by "FACT CHECKERS". WHAT A $(%*ING JOKE!! The RNC was circus that would give the Ringling Bros a run for their money!
Ryan is a LIAR and a FAKE!!! I think I actually have found someone I hate more than Mittens!!
Obama/Biden 2012!
There were no lies. It is a matter of what the President said about the plant and what actually happened. Ryan did not say that the plant closing was the President's fault. Ryan said that the President said that the plant would be there for 100 years. Ryan pointed out that the plant is closed and no one works there any more.
The problem is the President making statements and even promises about stuff that he really knows not enough about. He makes statements and promises that sound real good at the time but turn out to be really meaningless. GITMO is a very well known example. tonybeeerm "That plant was scheduled to close down several years before that."
Then why did Obama imply that he was going to see that the plant was going to be open 'for another 100 years'?
Pandering for votes - which was typical of Obama.
"Here we were," Ryan said, "faced with a massive job crisis – so deep that if everyone out of work stood in single file, that unemployment line would stretch the length of the entire American continent."
The image is powerful yet seems preposterous. C'mon. Really? But in a speech filled with countless casual lies, this most depressing of allegations turns out to be on the money.
The Bureau of Labor's statistics show there were 12.8 million jobless Americans in July. Let's make this tough on Ryan and pick an unnecessarily long continental crossing: Bellingham, Wash. to Miami, Fla.. Google Maps puts that at a walking distance of 3,309 miles, or nearly 17.5 million feet.
If anything, Ryan is too conservative in his measurement. His calculus — even at this extended crossing — would give each unemployed person a little over 16 inches of space. That might be enough for a PX90 enthusiast like Ryan, but the Chris Christies of America would eat up considerably more distance.
Ryan paints an awful picture. And it underscores just how dark the Great Recession has been for American workers, and why this election will be anything but a cakewalk for President Obama.
But the question I have for Paul Ryan and the man at the top of his ticket is:
Big tax cuts for the wealthiest fix this how?!
I never realized exactly how satisfying it would be to see the progressive so scared that Obama would loose. Wow this, in itself, is just energizing.
tonybeerm...What we know is that Obama spoke at that plant and made promises that were not kept.
What we know is that the Federal Government was to oversee the GM bankruptcy and instead of being a reliable third party they chose to ignore their fiducary responsibilities and go all corporate raider on the creditors, investors and American employees.
We also know that the Federal Government, Auto Union and Canada received the favorable assets and old GM kept any asset that was spent and the return would amount to a net 0.
We also know that with the Governments corporate raid of GM there was an influx of funds. The bulk of those funds went to develop GM around the globe and not to retool plants like the one in Janesvile, Wisconsin, or to existing plants that closed after the raid of the American company.
I see Ryan can walk backwards. Some one put some gum in his mouth to shut him up before he trips.
Crawfish!.......
Elect Willard and Eddie Munster then. They will tank the global economy just like W did and send gas below $2/gal.
tony - crap is all Mitt/Paul have. They sling it more than any other politicians I've EVER seen! And, they just dig themselves in deeper!
Apparently they believe EVERYONE has a memory that last about a minute!
Obama/Biden 2012
More 'crap' coming from Newt and Helmet Head......a tribute to St. Reagan!
Looks like the duo used in Academy Awards and other salutes given by the 'elite' actors/actresses, movie moguls.......
Newt and his Barbie are talking ... I cannot think of two better reasons to vote for Obama.
BCWC...Newt and Helmet Head represent the 'family values' wing of the TeaPeople with some scamming on the side...or maybe that should be 'pious baloney'!
Has Newt's Barbie seen Ken-doll Mitt yet?
Newt better watch out.
Once again, it's full on damage control mode at the RNC. After this is all over and Obama is well into his second term, someone will make a movie about this like HBO did with the McCain/Palin campaign. It will be high comedy for sure.
There is discussion building across multiple forums, following last night's convention speech, questioning Paul Ryan's sexual orientation. Can you imagine the next round of inquiries?
No stranger a campaign season has there EVER been.
What is Ryan Smoking? President Obama was not in office in 2008! Even when caught lying Paul Ryan just keep lying to cover the lies he told prior. Ayn Rand's follower, Athiest Ayn Rand, so it's to be expected. The Emperor has no clothes. Mormon's believe that Christ came to America! America read up on the Mormon Religion. It's not Christian!
Their policies are so bad, all they can do is make sh!t up.
Paul Ryan: "Well, you see, Obama isn't solely to blame for the bombing of Pearl Harbor..."
On this, who cares. I don't give a @!$%# if my Presidential candidate is Wiccan. Religion has no place in politics, if only the GOP would learn this basic Constitutional principle...
Agreed...religion has no place in politics. Also, POLITICS has no place in a women's uterus. Please vote Obama!!!! We can't afford physically, mentally or financially for these two liars to get into the White House. They are starting to remind me of Hitler and Nazi Germany and they sad thing is that there are so many people, in this country, THAT ACTUALLY BELIEVE THEIR BABBLE. That is what blows my mind. There are people that are still supporting these MALIGNANT NARCISSISTS...
Ryan did not lie. He said that the President said that the plant would be there for 100 years. Ryan pointed out the the plant is now closed and no one works there any more. This is all true. Ryan did not say that the President was responsible for the plant closing.
I wonder if that auto plant woould be open today if Janesville WI had a congressman that was worth a crap!
Amen Al!
I was out knocking on doors up there in 2008 - these people were scared beyond belief!
Thanks to Ryan, their biggest nightmare came to fruition!
In the meantime, Eddie Munster was begging for stimulus $$$...
Feisty:
Maybe they could have used a community organizer to put the pressure on GM to keep it open. Obviously their elected representative in Washington failed them big time!
Craig Romney just finished speaking, in Spanish. Then in English said 'his father is a child of immigrants'!
WTF.........
Shame his old man can't even speak English!
I will now guffaw at them while on my aircraft! ☺
Feisty,
If the people were so scared why did they re-elect him in 2010 and isn't it a Congressmans job to represent his district which is 68% Democrat. Of course he has to ask for stimulus money,it is not a zero sum game where if it is not spent in my district it is not being spent it just goes someplace else.
Please also note that Ryan did stretch the truth but the plant was actually closed in June of 2009 as they were still making a few cars there.
Maybe you should do your brain a favor and stop watching Chilled... It appears that what is being said is way above your mental capacity.
I'm sorry Jerry, can you please refresh my memory on what office Craig Romney has ever held?
Check you facts my truthfully challenged friend! Wouldn't want to give you a *pants on fire* award! lol
Think I'm going to empty my sock drawer tonight. I will need something to throw at the TV when Willard speaks and don't want to damage anything.
Jerry, Ryan also lied that he didn't seek stimulus money, then back tracked when his correspondence was produced. The man is a l i a r... look it up...
Even Fox News took his speech to task....
Good point again, Al. But one thing is that said congressman is Republican and those jobs lost were union jobs. We know what Wisconsin Republicans think of unions, don't we? Secretly, Ryan was probably pleased as punch about it.
Brianb-999431
Ryan didn't make that promise, Obama did...
BB,
How does it feel to get bytche slapped?
Obama did speak at the plant in February 2008, and suggested that a government partnership with automakers could keep the plant open, but made no promises as Ryan suggested."
But, "LYING RYAN" supports "MYTH" Romney who wanted GM to go bankrupt. How does it feel to support MYTH when he leads from behind?
Feisty,
First I was responding to your post 4.1 where you claim to have been knocking on doors in 2008 and people were scared.
Second on the plant it was still operational until April 2009 because GM was in a partnership with Isazu.
April 23, 2009: The plant's medium-duty assembly line, which produced an Isuzu line, closes, ending vehicle production at the plant and resulting in the loss of 57 production jobs, according to the Gazette.
Jerry,
I call bull@!$%#! The plant shut down in December of 2008!
The last car came off that line then... even the cross-eyed weasel is back tracking on the BS!
Try a little more truthfullness next time, you would be surprised how people might take you seriously...
Until till them... adios!
The very last thing a certifiable liar wants to do is question my integrity!
I have been here a lot longer than YOU Jerry, and I'll be around a lot longer after YOU reach your expiration date! lol
first is was not me that wrote the last car came off in 2009 it was CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/30/politics/pol-fact-check-ryan-gm/index.html
If you they are wrong you should let them know.
Second I would never question your integrety I just repeated what you said about scared people who happened to reelect Ryan in 2008 and 2010.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
"The very last thing a certifiable liar wants to do is question my integrity! I have been here a lot longer than YOU Jerry, and I'll be around a lot longer after YOU reach your expiration date! "
Wow, now that is an extraordinary achievement....Queen of this site...you go girl...reach for the sky
Who is Ryan's speech writer - Emily Litella? Next week, the Democrats should bring in Jane Curtin after this performance.
I would think with the country in a devastating drought -- and surrounded by the last climate change deniers and moon landing conspiracy theorists on the planet -- the GOP would tread carefully around easily checked facts. But for the charter members of the Flat Earth Society, it may not have occurred to them that there is this thing called a search engine that brings up not just right-wing blog entries, but public records, independent corroborating news reports, and legal documents that don't bear out their
narrativefantasies. How unfortunate for them in November.Jerry: I read your link. CNN's verdict was "True, but incomplete." So..... how does that translate to "TRUE"??? Clearly, the plant was planned to close BEFORE Obama became President. If we split hairs, technically, the plant DID close on Dec 2008, with the loss of 2,000 jobs. In Jun 2009, with the partnership production of ISUZU cars, only 57 jobs were lost..... GM wasn't even making its own cars in 2009!!! And even if the plant were put on standby, the chances of it re-opening were NILL due to the loss it suffered in Feb 2008!
If you're going to believe something, why don't you analyze it for yourself before you take it as the truth.
Ryan's speech = I omitted some facts, but who cares??? GOP voters are eating off the palm of my hand =]
Ryan said that the President said that the plant would be there for 100 years. That is true, the President said that. The President likes to say things that sound good at the time. Ryan said that the plant is closed and that no one works there. That is true. Ryan did not say that the President was responsible for the plant being closed.
The President likes to say things and make promises that sound good at the time. For example, the President was very emphatic that GITMO would be closed within one year of his taking office. The pledge sounded good at the time at least to some. GITMO is still open.
@tonybeener....BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...you are laughable. You are foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog over Rommney and Ryan. You know they are going to win, if for nothing else, because the village idiot has acted like an....idiot for the past 4 years. His bonehead bloopers are played over and over and over and believe me, after 4 years, there are a ton of them.
Even black people are willing to give Rommney/Ryan a chance....the black novelty has worn off for most black people that are educated, vote, need I say more????
I bet if I say GOD OR JESUS....you will die from a blood clot to your brain! GOD, GOD, GOD, JESUS, JESUS, JESUS BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Wrong. O% of black people are voting for Romney/Ryan. They are not crazy like the tea party Faux watching lunatics. White people who want to continue to have an honest government with progress will never vote for republicans again. We are going to vote for those who will increase taxes for the wealthy and only have cuts that are not ruthless to the elderly, the disabled and the poor. We are not going to believe lies and liars and that is Romney and Ryan. Ryan is now Lyin Ryan.
@Vicki: I don't know if it will be 0%; but after Herman Cain's "ringing endorsement", you could be awfully close.
To quote the Progressive commercial:
"It's like a SA-UNA in here!"
"No mas pantalones."
That's all you need to know about the Romney/Ryan Campaign!
That's funny, I had that show on last week for a few minutes(the remote wasn't near) and thought this is the type of people that vote Republican.
What Republicans Say:
Chris Christie - On Aug 28, 2012 Tampa, used the word "Truth" 16 Times in his keynote speech at the RNC convention. And he specifically said this…
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/28/transcript-chris-christie-speech-at-republican-national-convention/#ixzz259Pc6lKX
What Republicans Do:
Romney pollster Neil Newhouse stated: "We're not going [to] let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers." ... on the same day as Christie's speech, during an ABC News/Yahoo! News event at the RNC Convention. ABCNews.com
Then Paul Ryan Spoke:
and Fox News contributor Sally Kohn had this to say about Paul Ryan's convention speech on August 29th, 2012
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/#ixzz254a2euWo
I didn't like Bush, but there is no way you could blame him for that plants closing. How can the President be blamed for a specific plant or business closing its doors?
Typical republican lies. That plant was closed before President Obama took office. Ryan wouldn't let he facts stand in the way of a good lie.
This is the kind of people the republicans think should run our country. Get a grip if Romney and Ryan are lying about medicare and welfare and plant closings, how do you trust anything they say?
I think Romney needs to release his taxes like President Obama did when he was running. The republicans weren't even satisfied with one birth certificate, but want us to believe that they would have been fine with one year of taxes from our president.
If Romney had nothing to hide, he wouldn't be hiding his taxes.
Oh, Paulie, is that a good family value? Lying like that? Pretty embarrassing that the headlines about your speech is some variation about "biggest liar," and when it is coming from Fox "news" you know you have completly lost touch with reality.
So, now, you have to walk it back. Why don't you man up for once in your life and own up to what you did? You lied. There is no way to dress that up and make it prettier.
The party of "personal responsibility" strikes again!
But what I really do not understand is when these lies are exposed, how do the registered Republicans process them in their minds? How do those who support these guys and post on here as Republicans justify this?
Good questions.
Mr. Wonky thought he was still on the floor of the US House. There, lying is accepted/expected by TeaPeople.
What stymies me L in Princeton is that, for about the 5th or 6th time since Obama has taken office,I'm forced to accept that the new Tea Bagger Right truly is so stupid that they don't understand how a calendar works.
Not really sure I'll be able to stomach Clint's toadying for Mittens the Insipid tonight, really thought him crying in "Bridges of Madison County" would be the low point for a true icon. But apparently he's going to trump that embarrassment tonight.
Oh well, two silver linings to it I guess.
First being that while yes,it is yet another old, white male celebrity shilling for the GOP,at least Clint, unlike Hank Jr.,Jon Voight,Ted Nugent and Chuck Norris,is still relevant.
Secondly I'm sure that Bill Hader already has his slacks hiked up to his nipples anticipating his Eastwood at the GOP Convention spoof on the season premiere of SNL.
AmericansFirst said: Typical republican lies. That plant was closed before President Obama took office.
OK AmericansFirst... agreed. If this is the case, why did Obama tell the factory workers there that the plant would stay open for 100 years? The workers placed their trust in him for their jobs... they probably all voted for him... only to have the plant close down. Where was Obama when this happened? They were still making heavy trucks into 2009... It's very simple. Obama lied.
L in Princeton - what you don't understand is there are conservatives here too, not just republicans. As a conservative, I know how to read through the lies of the left. You might not understand it all, but trust me, most things the liberals say on this board are based in lies and their own version of fantasy.
You forgot Kid Rock, now pass me that doobie ;)
Can't wait. I'm just wondering who will play Paul Ryan? I know it won't be Kenan Thompson, that's for sure.
Brianb - give it up, man. You're going to get dizzier than hell if you keep trying to spin this. The decision to close the plant was long before he took office. Hell, it was before he was elected. And get it straight. If it had been still open, then maybe his bailout would've helped keep it open. Who knows. What I don't get is why does this matter to you Teabags anyway? Isn't your mantra that government shouldn't get in the way of business? Now, what would have Mitt done? Let it go under, that's what. But give the big bosses huge bonuses on a job well done first.
Golly Gee Willikers Shucky Darn, BrianB. While you were hanging out in your trailer drinking your trash in ole 2008 there was this massive global economic crashie thingie, which for you simpleton types, means it was a major game changer for anything suggested during the campaign season. Here is link, all for you, to help you understand the enormity of the crashie thingie. I sure do hope the words aren't too big to digest.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2%80%932012_global_financial_crisis
According to the USA Today, Obama was actually quoted as saying:
“If our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years,” according to USA Today.
It also went on to say that the plant was slated to close in 2010 at the time Obama spoke to them. It made it's last GM vehicle in December 2008 and stayed open until early 2009 to fulfill some remaining orders for Isuzu. That is not spin. It is not intended to make one political party look good and the other bad. It is simply the truth. It appears that both sides have blinders on and their fingers in their ears.
Limpballs, simply quoting one source over and over does not mean you can disregard actual fact and dismiss further information. You are acting in the same manner that you accuse others of. You are emulating Rush Limbaugh more than you realize.
I'd be willing to bet that the plant workers cared about Isuzu, being that it allowed them to keep their jobs for at least a little while longer. But don't let that stop you from parroting the same Detroit news quote over and over to further your blind political agenda. As it is, Ryan never said that it was Obama's fault that the factory closed. The quote I took is directly from the USA Today. It also never said that Obama promised that the factory would remain open. I don't understand your point, if you are indeed trying to make one, Distortion Factory.
L In Princeton - I, like you, have wondered how they seem to eat up the lies they are being told and have figured out that it is similar to Nazi Germany. When you have a Narcissistic Personality, like Mitt and Paul, and the charismatic speaking abilities, people tend to believe, even when, the truth is right in front of their face. Sadly, I hope they realize it before voting day....Narcissists are very good at lying, believing their lies and making others believe the lies. Scary, scary stuff.
Tampa, Aug 30, 2012: at a fundraiser during the Republican National Convention, GOP strategist Karl Rove said, "We should sink Todd Akin," and followed that by stating, "If he's found mysteriously murdered, don't look for my whereabouts!"
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/todd-akins-office-disturbed-by-karl-roves-joke/
Karl Rove, GOP/Republican strategist
Todd Akin, GOP/Republican Congressman, candidate for U.S. Senator of Missouri
What? Has Newt Gingrich- who famously called Governor Romney a liar (on Fow News, no less)- been forced to kiss Mitt's ring?
Or is he just trying to be a "Loyal Soldier"?
btw Newt had some rather unkind words back in the day about the guy who's virtues he is now extolling: President Reagan.
Rather sad to watch a broken man.
Newt is trying hard to keep from having his wife deported back to Mars.
Congressman Ryan, are you going to tell the Republican faithful who heard your speech last night that President Obama is not solely to blame for the auto plant failure?
I didn't think so.
Not solely to blame? How about not to blame AT ALL!
He can't say the president "wasn't solely to blame" either! That's a lie too. People should call Ryan out on THAT as well.
The smackdown of the candidate and his VP running as the Obfuscator in Chief (and Bat Boy) couldn't happen fast enough. They're really running completely on lies and misinformation.
This is what we call a case study of a pathological liar. He can't possibly believe Obama is to blame for something that happened before he was in office. But he says it with a straight face and repeats it over and over no matter what evidence is in front of him. Same thing with the claim that Obama is cutting medicare benefits or is doing away with working requirements for welfare recipients. The Romney/Ryan campaign has hundreds of millions of dollars to spend and they have chosen to spend it on lies. As Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels said: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."
@Lester,
Pathological liars can't help themselves.
These guys are doing it on purpose.
I'd call that methodical.
Frightening that conservatives will just ignore the truth when it is pointed out. Just frightening!
Lester, you are right on target. Your comment explains the instant issues and also reminds us of the horrors that can be caused by political figures that think so little of the general populace that they are comfortable lying unashamedly. I think few people realize where this could go if not stopped now.
Lester
Is that you in your avatar? Do you run something. I'm just wondering because you are just another drone. That picture looks of a person who may be responsible for something. But, then again, so does Obama and he's an idiot.
A maxim in today's politics. THE LEFT ARE LIARS.

Even those on the left who are honest say that Obama guts the law.
Conservative Rebellion,
Nice try. I read through that Ann Coulter diatribe even though I already knew the facts. The attempt at spin was a nice trick. But let's try this on for size. The Obama Administration relaxed the work requirements at the requests of many state governors. Quite a few Republican State Governors and yes, even Mitt Romney once upon a time as that the restriction be lessened! A request to Bush the dumber.
What Coulter isn't saying in her hit-piece is that in this economic environment, people simply aren't getting jobs. So state governors were and are asking for leniency in the work requirement to get ahold to these vital funds. You see if people don't have jobs and they can't get assistance, they could become indigent and possibly die, as well as the states missing out on precious funds they need in this climate. As a conservative, I wouldn't expect you to be compassionate. But even Republican state governors sought to get assistance to these downtrodden citizens if they were training for a job and the like. You see that is the essence of the waiver of the work requirement. Still getting funds to needy people in desperate times. Please keep in mind that this was requested by the state governors. It was a request granted.
Now what you won't say is that in all likelihood, it is possible for the Obama Administration to return the strict work requirement when the economic climate gets better. But that doesn't sell fear and division like Obama is handing out free welfare checks, does it. Romney knows this. Hell he knows this because he petitioned for the leniency back in 2005. But Romney and Ryan will continue to lie to the American Public. I like to call them "Coward" and "Liar".
Funny you opted to put forward a GOP shill like Coulter as your proof. Coulter is that one shining beckon of truth out there, huh? If you believe that you are so full of crap, you should start your own manure business. I'm not stupid, I think I'll believe the other 99% of the fact checkers that aren't trying to make their candidates look better. The media gets it right more times than you simpletons want to admit. Deal with it.
Whereas, I don't underestimate Ann Coulter's attention to politics, it is you who ignore the other sources she referenced, who also support the information which the honest people on the left acknowledge.
To put it plainly, you are just another uninformed liberal drone spreading lies and dreaming of the day you get to slowly pull Obama's zipper down.
And drone? Obama won't be around when the economic climate improves.
How about Mitt Romney's true past at Bain. Seems that integrity that Ann talked about stops when it comes to cheating the Federal Government out of millions.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-federal-bailout-that-saved-mitt-romney-20120829?print=true
What kind of man is this? He stands up on that dais and claims the highest moral ground and the only right vision yet he doesn't have enough moral fiber to own up to a lie even when caught red-handed? All you "'Lyin" Ryan supporters out there best remember this: he represents you, and right now that makes you all look like either the biggest suckers the world has ever seen or a bunch of amoral untrustworthy liars. Either way that's not the kind of people I want preaching in my church or teaching in my schools. It's not too late to change, though -- you won't be trying to put this empty suit of a snake oil salesman into the second most powerful political office in the world until the Convention's over
AC
No,no,no guys and gals. You're all missing the point. OF COURSE it's Obama's fault---after all he could have,at any time, asked to borrow Mittens the Insipids' time machine and gone back and retroactively picked the winners and losers and thus saved the plant.
Obama knew the plant was scheduled to be closed when he went there. He said he would save it. He didn't. I don't see what the big controversy is all about.
@cheaphorde
Because it closed BEFORE he became President, you numnutz goof.
Thanks for proving, yet again, what I stated in post #6.5---that you Tea People truly are so stupid that you don't even fathom how a fricking calendar works.
Cheaphoarde,
He didn't "say he would save it." He said if they had the support of the government, they wouldn't close. Well, obviously they didn't have the support of the government soon enough because they closed before he could ever implement anything because he wasn't in office yet!!! His policies did save, you might remember, the entire auto industry in America a short time later! And the whole "they didn't close their doors until the next year" thing doesn't wash either. They don't stop production on a dime. They get rid of all employees who aren't needed to fulfill the last of their contractural obligations and work with a skeleton crew till the end. Interesting Ryan almost admitted his lie in this interview stating that it really wasn't Obama at all, but the price of gas as this plant made SUVs. As another posted asked, think he's going to announce that to the people at the convention tonight? Yeah right!
kennyw-2983735:
When the plant closed is really not relevant. The point is that Obama appeared to make a promise to bring hope to the plant workers knowing he couldn't or wouldn't keep it because of timing. That was Ryan's point. If you listen to Ryan's speech, he does not blame Obama for the plant closure. I think you're stuffing that inference between the lines.
LOL,really?
He didn't BLAME Obama for the plant closing? Give me an effing break. Your guy got caught, yet again, lying through his teeth, you're stupid enough to believe it,then when he tries to walk his lie back you're stupid enough to buy THAT and then want to try to instruct me about inference.
Dude seriously---GTFO.
Even FOX news called Romney on the lie of the plant closing. It was plain to me what the implication was, that Obama lied and his inaction forced the plant to close. Spin away brother, but ain't no one buying...
kennyw-2983735:
So what did Ryan actually say in his speech last night? Here's the text.
"A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: 'I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years.' That’s what he said in 2008.
"Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight."
Did he SAY it's Obama's fault the plant closed? No. He was talking about promises of an economic recovery that so far, has not appeared. This was what appeared to be an Obama campaign promise of hope for the GM factory workers. However, campaign promises, on both sides, seem to be falling into a category similar to statistics.
Also, if you respond, it would be really nice if you could avoid the various forms of name calling you use: "...you're stupid..." used twice. You really don't know me well enough to make such a statement of fact as I do not know you well enough to determine anything about you.
hmdicowii,
Don't bother. It doesn't fit their agenda of hating every single thing that comes from the Republican side. Please see 6.12. Also, don't expect anything even remotely close to adult conversation. The spewing of insults, rhetoric, put downs, pettiness and all around childishness that comes from them is without abandon. They accuse "the other side" of EXACTLY the same behavior that they themselves fully embody. It is a shame that, often times on this website, one only need read a few seeds to realize exactly what is wrong in this country. Unfortunately, many will never see what is right in front of their face.
I am not a Republican, Democrat, Independant, and don't belong to any other specific party as there exists no single party that supports every single political issue that is important to me. I vote on who has the majority of my best interests at heart. I don't need to wear a party as a badge of honor and/or to bash the "opposing side".
What did the Cogressman from that District do? Production had ceased the year prior and then Candidate Obama did not say he would cease the closure he stated that with Government and Private Partnership plants should not close.
GOP Lies & Distortion Factory,
Who did I bash and how did I bash them? Is anything I said inaccurate? Who did I call names and what names did I use? The people that I was speaking of on this site have come here for the past few years and spoke nothing but ill of the Republican side. Please prove me wrong. As it is, I have seen you do exactly the same thing. You are a prime example of my previous statement. Welcome to being a stereotype.
DLC, I agree with you.
Let's go over this again. Obama went there knowing the plant was scheduled to close. He said if he got elected president the plant would not close (be saved). He got elected. GM got a big bailout but the plant closed completely in 2010 (2 years AFTER he was elected) anyway. Again, I don't know what the big controversy is about. Ah, but let the excuses roll. It wasn't big enough, it wasn't soon enough etc.
I think Michael Jackson would have been proud of the moonwalk Ryan did away from that sloppy accusation he made last night. Rest In Peace Michael
The GOP/TP is not obliged to educate voters. Their job is to elect their candidates. The most effective untruths are the ones with a wisp of truth. Both parties are guilty.
I'm interested to hear what is the #1 truth you would say the uneducated voters need to hear.
Lay it on me.
Watching the convention over the last couple of days, (well, some of it), I'm surprised and impressed at how positive most of it has been. There's message of hopeful futures. Reiterations of Republican ideas. How refreshing after the last few years of so much negativity.
I wonder what the DNC convention is going to be like. Will it be all hateful and nitpicking and distracted by irrelevant issues? How many "misspeaks" will have to be explained? How many distortions will be told. I anticipate a lot.
I hope it's not about tax returns, chains, contraceptives or dogs. There are real problems in the country. There are real people who seemingly are expected to accept the new normal. I hope it's a discussion of policies and ideas. But I don't think the President has any ideas left.
Just impressed. Just wondering.
I have watched all of it. Quite inspiring.
I will watch the one in Charlotte also. Their platform is killing the unborn and demonizing success. YAY?
Have another drink and talk to us in the morning Candy!
Candy: I hope you are getting paid a LOT of money to publish such demonstrably provable nonsense and, in the process, undermine the economic and political foundations for our great nation. If, on the other hand, you really believe the stuff fox has been shoveling, then I feel sorry for you and can only urge that you go cold turkey on fox and start listening to news that is actually news and not high powered propaganda.
Yeah, I especially liked the positivity of their platform of rape and incest victims being forced to carry the raptist's child against their will AND pay for it! They're the one's proposing legislation defining forceable rape instead of trying to help the economy. Where are their priorities, I wonder?
You should meet me at Pops one day, Feisty.
You have to admit there have been some inspiring speakers. Juxtaposed to the anger and snipiness of these boards and the MSNBC panel at every turn. Yikes.
It's good to have calm, reasonable, mostly non-snarky hope.
No one pays attention to this type of idiocy and outright lies. It merely demonstrates just how desperate the left is. That desperation comes from knowing you are now backing an equally desperate failure.
To tell the truth, I think he has given up and is looking forward to becoming a multi-multi millionaire fleecing the idiots of the left giving speeches written for him by other brain dead wannabe communists.
Conservative - Be nice to Jed7. He's obviously not been paying attention to the news except what's posted here. Nearly every Republican denounced Mr. Atkins and no one agrees with his thought. I like the idea the Republicans aren't following each other like lemmings. There's more disagreement within the party about more issues. That makes for healthy, moderate and thoughtful debate and, hopefully, new and creative solutions.
Candice-
Well Candice, you do seem to be setting yourself up to see and hear precisely that.
Nope, blackcat. I'm hoping that's not the case. But since the President's team isn't talking about his record or accomplishments, I wonder exactly what they're going to talk about. The President isn't going with Hope and Change this time.
The cynical side of me, however, thinks Robert Gibbs won't point out any "mean and angry" orations that come out of the DNC, while I'm sure there will be some. I wonder how he'll justify that hypocrisy if that takes place.
Do you know what next week's theme will be?
The mendacity of R&R will justifiably take up 70% of the week.

Thanks for the article, blackcat. I just cancelled my subscription to Rolling Stone last month!
So, that's the DNC theme? Trash Mitt Romney?
Should be inspiring.
Candice
The GOP has just spent the last 3 days doing the same thing to Obama. Dems have started playing with the GOP game book. Did you miss Newt's speech tonight? Or Ryan's bag of lies last night?
I did see Newt's speech. I would have liked to see Newt debate the President but I'm glad he lost the primaries in the end. The speech with Callista was hokey. I wonder who's idea that was.
Fox actually defended Paul's GM story as "not un-factual" but blasted him on the Simpson Bowles part. Fair and balanced as they are.
Candice
So then why does the GOP platform carry that plank? If they all disagree why have it as one of their planks? Why did Akin and Ryan sponser bills using the words 'forcible rape'?
I think it's you who isn't paying attention.
candice, fox defended it and that's good enough for you? then i'll start using daily show parodies as factual cause they are on par with each other in the facts department. mitt romney really was fighting the french during the vietnam war over wine, interesting.
the best part of fox's defense is that they are known for lying and wouldn't go any further than it was "not un-factual". the facts during the story that they found could be as little as "yes, the plant did close. he was right about that". the plant closed during bush's term before obama had the power to do anything about it. you are willfully ignorant.
No need to explain Mr. Ryan. The idiot sycophants on the left keep repeating the same old tired LIE that "Obama saved the auto industry".
Obviously, he didn't save it in Janesville.. Or Europe. Or Mexico.
He's just an empty suit with a doob in the breast pocket for stress relief. Not to be taken seriously, just defeated and destroyed between now and November 6.
Con: Please stop watching fox; you obviously have a skewed view of reality. However I do like your assesment of Ryan as an empty suit etc, etc. You arre correct. Ryan, who nicknamed himself Wonkie to try to make everyone think he knows what he is talking about, spews the biggest mess of nonsense that has ever been advanced as policy.
Yeah CR,he utterly failed. That must be why Mittens the Insipid tried to take credit for it for himself right?
Or I guess that never happened either, huh asshat?
By the by---I would much rather support someone who smoked some weed in his life than a convicted drunk driver. Anyone who would get behind the wheel of an automobile under the influence is a person with ZERO regard for the lives of other people on the road.
So take your sanctimonious BS as to the President's former vices and stick it up your keister.
Actually, his actions DID save the auto industry, and with it, tens of thousands of jobs...
CR, your credibility fell of the scale....
Is that all you've got you brain dead moron? Stop watching FOX? Talk about stupid-on-a-stick! I'm watching the convention on PBS.
But....wait. Your ally in stupid one upped you.
Romney has never drank mooooooron. His religion doesn't allow it. No drink, no weed, no coke, no shrooms, no heroin, no gay sex in a Chicago bath house. Just clean living.
But other drugs are fine. The left are just pathetically stupid.
No other words to describe them.
He didn't save the auto industry. There are far more automobile manufacturers who didn't receive taxpayer money than did. What he did was preserve union pensions at the cost of the American taxpayer for one automobile manufacturer. One which still owes the taxpayer 26billion dollars not to mention the loss of another 18 billion due to the loss of value of the stock. You're all just uneducated drones without a clue. My hope (i'm sure it's correct) is that you all cannot legally vote.
If GM had went thru structured bankruptcy then they would have come out far stronger and stable. If Obama's inept hand picked board had allowed the sale of GM Europe then the stock would have made up the losses. Obama didn't "save" GM. He lost the taxpayer 50 billion dollars and counting.
How can you tell if a republican is not telling the truth? His lips are moving. What ever happened to ethics and morality in this country? I guess if you tell a lie long enough and loud enough, enough idiots will believe it. And most of those idiots don't have the brains or the common sense to fact-check anything. Oh that's right, Faux News fact checks for them.
what do you expect from a campaign that says "we won't let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers"?the quote is from a romney pollster, neil newhouse. they're basically saying they'll lie outright and hope no one notices but even if proven to be lying they don't care. the daily show's newest that says "a party too patriotic for FACTS" hits the nail on the head with republicans.

This was just another of Obama's big visions that didn't happen. What you supporters should be doing is shouting the stories of his big accomplishments he has made while he has been in office. We haven't heard of any at all on these posts. How about his plans for the next four years? Get off the nit picking and produce some real information.
Army Vet: Bin Laudin - gone; ACA - passed; veterans benefits (that Ryan-Romney would drasticlly reduce) - strengthened; DADT - gone; Legislation to help small business, build infrastructure, stengthen consumer protection, and so many other benefits for our nation and its citizens proposed but defeated or filibustered by Repbulcans. Thanks for bring all that up. Oh, BTW, Obama actually strengthened and extended Medicare through cost savings and did NOT gut it like Lyin' Ryan claimes.
good point...here are a few...taking the economy from losing 800,000 jobs a month to one that has gained them for 30 straight months, took an economy that had negative GDP to one that has positive...and all of this through the worst recession since the Depression. Besides that, ended 1 war, winding down another, didn't get us in another stupid war like the neocons want, placed the order to get Bin laden, saved the auto industry, passed equal pay for women, repealed DADT, gave all americans a tax break, paid attention to the bad economy so loosened the food stamps requirements so people could feed their kids, passed a law so that no longer do people have to die because they dont have health insurance, extended the life of medicare for 8 more yrs, gave seniors benefits that save them more than 4 grand a yr( the donut hole being eliminated, preventative care and cancer screenings added). that's a good start.
Lakerman2 - Bin Ladin killed by a highly trained special operations force. Obama gave the order, but any person serving as President would have given the same order, so no big accomplishment. ACA, still the majority of the American people do not want or like Obamacare which was FORCED on us through lies, promises, payoffs and special deals behind closed door. Name the veterans benefits that Obama gave to military personnel, and also we do not know what Ryan/Romney would do at this point. DADT was ended by Congress at Obama's request. However all repealing DADT did was permit gays to serve openly, so what other benefits did they get from the repeal, NONE. Build infrastructure, you mean the "shovel ready projects" that weren't so "shovel ready". Strengthened and extended Medicare through cost saving, not true according to the Medicare Actuary.
You see the reason Obama and the left are running negative campaign is because they don't really have anything to run on.
Extended funding for student PELL grants. Pushed for extensions of unemployment payments, Saved billions by moving student loans from private banks to government, Has killed far more senior commanders in Taliban and Al Qaeda in 3 years than Bush's 7 since 9/11, maintains a positive net growth on jobs, best president for the stock market since Johnson, pushed for and signed the lilly ledbetter act, reigned in Wall st with regulations to prevent another housing bubble and increase bank stability, formed the Credit Card Bill of rights for consumers, prevents banks from charging overdraft fees, added more than one million needy children to the CHIPS health program, eliminated pre-existing conditions, eliminated lifetime caps on health coverage, championed free preventative health screenings, how much more do we need to cover?
Really sfcret? Bush had the opportunity to give the kill order at Tora Bora and didn't.
Quit minimizing what your President did. If it had gone badly, you all would have been screaming for impeachment.
Oh really, sfcret? Circular logic strikes again! If Obama didn't get Bin Laden because he didn't pull the trigger; then Bin Laden didn't take down the World Trade Center because he didn't fly the planes. ;-)
Obama/Biden 2012
newday - Really? President Clinton also had the opportunity to get OBL when he was still in Yemen prior to 9/11. During Clinton's Presidency there were 6 or 7 terrorist attacks on Americans. Remember the two US Embassies in Africa. Embassies are considered to be part of the country they represent.
I will continue to minimizing what President Obama did, but he really did nothing that anyone else would have done. If the plan had gone badly I would not have been screaming for impeachment, and I never screamed for impeachment of President Carter when the rescue failed in Iran. Not all military plans are successful.
Cynthia's Point - If President Obama gets credit for the killing of OBL because it happened on his watch, then he is responsible for the jobs lost on his watch, and he is responsible for the attack on Fort Hood, TX, by one of his officers. He also has to accept responsibility for the fact that more Americans have been killed on his watch in Afghanistan under his watch.
Lyin' Ryan got caught Lyin' so now he's trying to justify his lies with even more lies. So predictable, so TeaPublican. And this is the one in whom Romney places his confidence???
Guessing Paulie not happy that the media finally calling him out on his bald face lies and it is detracting from Romney's speech tonite. Always best to just stick to the truth paul....you don't have to get confused that way. The only folks defending Ryan today are people who already were committed to him. And you know what they say about liars? if he would lie about this, what else is he lying about?
Dear Obvious Obama supporters:
Not sure why i even bother responding because most likely you will be too closed minded to accept or even view a position other than your own...however,
Mr. Ryan's point was that President Obama has made promise after promise in order to get elected... and then not followed thru with those promises. Ryan did not say that it's Obama's fault the plant closed... he said that candidate Obama came to that town and promised that if he was put in power, he would implement policies that would allow GM to thrive and to keep that plant and others open.
Again, point is.. Our President has promised and promised like a career politician and not fulfilled those promises, then just put the blame on the guy from 4 years ago. By the same token, Ryan spun his wording exactly like a career politician. Both of them are guilty of implying/spinning like politicians.
I was a victim of our President picking winners and losers. He forced the very profitable and well run dealership i worked for to close... They were doing VERY well and because our President and his Czar's picked winners and losers... our dealership that was winning..was forced out of business while other poorer/under performing dealerships were allowed to stay in business. THOUSANDS of dealerships were FORCED out of business and TENS OF THOUSANDS of dealership employees lost their jobs! No matter how anyone spins it... i witnessed this and was a victim of this travisty.
That is a story that the media never really got a hold of. Congress was so appalled at this that Democrats and Repulicans worked together and forced President Obama to sign a bill that at least allowed a number of dealerships to appeal their termination. Mine appealed an won. At least i got my job back. Thousands of other Americans werent so lucky because their places of employment had closed permanently.

This your first ever post. No one has asked you for a response to anything.
No one ever asked you either.
Personally, I wish you would stop. They are usually just full of the same uninformed drivel that if we chose we could turn on the Ed Show and ridicule. But we don't do that either.
his point is pointless if he has to lie to make it. you're probably "too closed minded to accept or even view a position other than your own...however".
brian2510...
You were a used car salesman?...WOW! Why are we NOT surprised! GET A JOB DUDE!
kardy,
I am 20 year certified technician... probably have more training and certification than you ever will have.
I have lots of friends and associates who are hard working honest people who also lost their jobs because of these forced closures.
I'm amazed at all the hate and vitriol posted here. Absolute uneducated and unclassy people posting hateful comments. Just because Presiden Obama and other politicians spread hate and division... doesn't mean we have to follow suit.
The decisions on closing automobile manufacturing plants was done by GM. The GM plant in my area just closed for good as well. We are in the south and there is the rumor that a company executive came to our area to consider starting up car production but saw so much garbage and trash that drivers had pitched out of their car windows that he decided he did not think much of the people in this community and decided on another location. That is sad for this area but they are still throwing that trash out and have no pride at all in the way that looks to possible prospects.
With Romney standing squarly behind Lyin' Ryan as the "policy and budget wonk" , it's no wonder people don't trust Romney!
they don't trust him cause he has done 180's on issues that are important based on where and what he was campaigning for. here's a great list of them.

Fox News, who never seems to blink much about lies, had 3 words to say about Ryan's speech.
Dazzling. Deceitful. Distracting.
Ryan's did not only lie about a car plant closing down (before Obama took office) but he lied about everything. The credit rating was reduced due to the squabbling about the US not paying their debts. The ecomony still stinks but, every Republican including Ryan, voted down every "jobs bill". But the lies about Medicare and Obama robbing it and stealing from the seniors is the most bold faced lie of them all. Obama reduced waste in payments going to hospitals and insurance companies. Not one beneficiary was affected by this.
For those of you saying the FOX News used three words about the Ryan speech..do you know what an Opinion Page Is? The three words were an OPINION by a FOX employee who is a staunch liberal and favors Obama! If you don't know, aren't smart enough to know, or know and don't really care whether it's the truth or not, don't post lies. We get enough from politicians!
So you are more enlightened on the GM plant..here is the real story:
Ryan told the truth about the Janesville Plant and the lying leftist media continues to lie in order to support their lying Messiah, Hussein Obama
Fuel prices, the related slow sales of SUVs, and the economy affected the Janesville plant. In April 2008, GM announced that the plant would cut back full-time production to a single shift. Combined with an ongoing employee buy-out program, layoffs totaled around 750 jobs in July 2008.[9]
During GM's 2008 annual shareholder meeting on June 3, 2008, CEO Rick Wagoner announced that the Janesville assembly plant would close by 2010, along with three other GM factories, and could close sooner if the market dictated.[10] The cutbacks announced, along with other changes, were expected to save the North American division $1 billion per year starting in 2010.[11]
GM extended its annual summer shutdown an additional two weeks and planned another ten weeks of shutdown for the remainder of 2008 because of excess inventories of SUVs made at the plant.[12]
On February 13, 2008, Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama stated, "This can be America’s future. I know that General Motors received some bad news yesterday, and I know how hard your Governor has fought to keep jobs in this plant. But I also know how much progress you’ve made – how many hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles you’re churning out. And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years. The question is not whether a clean energy economy is in our future, it’s where it will thrive. I want it to thrive right here in the United States of America; right here in Wisconsin; and that’s the future I’ll fight for as your President."
In June 2008, a study by Steven Deller, a University of Wisconsin-Extension professor, indicated that the plant's closure could result in a ripple effect for the county. Based on a number of estimates and 2007 employment data, his worst case scenario was the loss of 9,000 jobs and nearly half a billion dollars of labor income in Rock County.[13]
In October 2008, GM announced Janesville Assembly would be largely idled December 23, 2008 when production of SUVs would end.[14]
Assembly work continued at the Janesville Assembly until April 2009, completing the GM/Isuzu light truck partnership and then an additional 40 to 50 "skilled trade employees" worked to decommission the plant.
The plant was not closed down permanently in December 2008, it had been in semi-shut down due to over inventory of SUV's. Assembly work was continued until APRIL 2009
Carol Get your facts straight. The words came from the OPINION PAGE and was authored by a staunch left wing liberal who works for FOX and along with Juan Williams, Alan Combes and others provide balance! Quit blogging about asomething you know nothing about just because it appeared on a Democrat talking point site!
That opinion was from that left wing fruit loop loon Sally Kohn. She puts her boxers on one leg at a time like the rest of us men. Her opinion is that of a loony hack. No value at all.
...the future I’ll fight for as your President.
HelmetBreaker ... you own quote shows us that Obama made a hopeful remark in to context of cooperative solutions to the plant's problems. If you construe this as a promise by Obama alone to fix the plant, then your understanding of English and logic is as pitifully flawed as that beady eyed jackal Ryan. Thanks to the Grand Obstructionist Poopies Obama never got the cooperative climate that might have overturned the free market decisions in place to close that plant.
What an obscene cowpie of distortion you spout!
helmet, how does any of that translate to obama causing the plant to close. it was being closed already before he took office and it was only around for a limited capacity operation and then only for 4 months.
Oh my God....MSN commenters are so full of snit. No wonder people on other more reputable sites call you Kool-Aid Drinkers!!!! Hey everyone....you have a black ring around your mouth from drinking obombo kool-aid. bunch of ars suckers.
Funny how any Fox commentator who doesn't toe the right wing agenda line there's an immediate call for their firing. Pretending Fox has liberal commentators is like saying a Mormon has a favorite bartender.
