Eastwood recently thrust his support behind GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who will receive his official nomination at the convention tonight.
Earlier this year, a Chrysler ad narrated by Eastwood that aired during the Super Bowl appeared to endorse President Barack Obama, prompting the actor to respond that he was not backing either candidate. He then went on to voice his support for Romney earlier this month at a fundraiser in Idaho.
Eastwood will address the convention Thursday night in Tampa, Fla., before Romney accepts his nomination. Romney will be introduced by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

Clint Eastwood has been a city mayor in California.....so yes, he has held a politicial office.
I feel sorry for Mr. Eastwood, unlike Chuck Norris or the late Charlton Heston who both were morons Mr Eastwood had some intelligence so I'm thinking his advanced age is making the wrong decision. His philosophy doesn't jive with the right wingers so I'm very surprised at this move. I find it amazing that ANY true American can support the American Taliban with a straight face.

The whole selection process for a Republican presidential candidate was a joke. Romney was just the "pick of the litter". All they needed was somebody who could "beat Obama". Well, let's pray they all come to their senses before election day.

Clint Eastwood gave us some good "Italian" westerns, plays a great piano and is entitled to endorse whom he pleases. Just watched High Plains Drifter and still liked the movie. Hollywood movie stars are just people whose job it is to entertain us and make big bucks doing it. It's their job. SO let Clint do his job. He's an actor and the Republican convention is in dire need of an attraction. Clint's gun slinging acting style lends itself to RNC thinking and so he will get a huge welcome. Then what happens when Romney comes to the podium???? One of the TV panels earlier today talked about how what's going on on stage at the convention plays in the room as being totally different from how it plays over the TV to those watching at home. One might want to pay attention to this tonight because Eastwood's performance while not a game changer just might take the hot wind out of Mitt's performance..... just sayin...........

Clint Eastwood seldom pulls any punches on either side of the aisle so this should be interesting. Democrats would like to forget that Obama was polling behind Hillary in the primary until Oprah's endorsement. While Clint does not carry as much clout as Oprah, it could still have an effect on the election.
What is Romney and his magic underwear going to do for our country. I hear a lot of hopes from the Right side of the aisle, but not one thought about what Romney actually promises to actually do, because he won't tell you. He will say, "Trust me! I will fix everything!" but won't tell us how a 28 year plan from Ryan, that doesn't account for the next war or the depression, or the loss of guaranteed healthcare will somehow make us better. We all know the trickle down theory doesn't work, and austerity measures only increase the loss of job growth, so what the hell is he going to offer us, his magic underwear? SHOW US YOUR TAXES, MITT!

Believe me the Republicans know how most of Hollywood feels about them. Eastwood is one of the few who love America and wants it to stay strong and successful - or get back to being that. If Obama wins than you all get what you deserve - a third world country. That's what he wants - he doesn't want to lead America , he wants to bring it down. Hey Numbskull, Clint is a small business owner including a production company. HE EMPLOYS PEOPLE. The Iconic film actor owns several different businesses. He bought the Mission Ranch Resort in Carmel, California (where he was once the mayor) which used to be a dairy farm. He restored it from almost bankruptcy and now it's a tourist haven. He also owns the Tehama Golf Club, again in Carmel, and has a large stake in the Pebble Beach Golf Links chain.
Not to mention he once owned the Hogs Breath inn.
