Director/actor Clint Eastwood accepts the award for Distinguished Collaborator onstage during the 14th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards With Presenting Sponsor Lacoste held at The Beverly Hilton hotel on February 21, 2012 in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Eastwood recently thrust his support behind GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who will receive his official nomination at the convention tonight.
Earlier this year, a Chrysler ad narrated by Eastwood that aired during the Super Bowl appeared to endorse President Barack Obama, prompting the actor to respond that he was not backing either candidate. He then went on to voice his support for Romney earlier this month at a fundraiser in Idaho.
Eastwood will address the convention Thursday night in Tampa, Fla., before Romney accepts his nomination. Romney will be introduced by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
NBC's Kelly O'Donnell and Sue Kroll contributed to this story.

Clint Eastwood to speak at Republican convention... if his pants aren't pulled up so high that they cover his mouth.
And Clint Eastwood can eat sh*t and die. I'll never pay to see another of his movies. Now you can see me as a "Very Angry Person".
A very HATE filled angry person..... are you Chris Mathews?
Wow! Now Hollywood is also coming Romney/Ryans way!! That is so cool. The flood gates are open. You know if one of the Hollywoods biggest icons and stars is publically supporting the comeback team then Baracks days are numbered.
Great news for everybody that wants to take action to get the country back on the right track!!!
SSmith,
LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Matthews and O'Donnell are comical buffoons. O'Donnell is angry and Matthews is just plain nuts! This will be his last convention series as MSNBC will need to get rid of him to maintain any semblance of a "news" organization. Otherwise, they are pretty much a borderline reality show.
Jeez, they must have dug him up from the cemetery for this.
He's still alive??!!
I cant wait to see Rosie & Rosanne Bar grace the stage at your Dimocrat convention.... TOO FUNNY!
I cant wait to see Rosie & Rosanne Bar grace the stage at your Dimocrat convention
No, what's too funny is that people like you are the base that the GOP attracts; people who can't express themselves without resorting to name-calling, insults, and misspelled words.
Oh my you Reps. You really do think this will Make your day, night, week and 4 years. I don't think so. He may be a great actor but not a great Politician. What a childish ploy, bring in a top gun to try to pull you out of the hole that will not be filled with votes. And the Rich shall ride again or so they think. I like Clint Eastwood but not on the Podium and he will not make your night so just get your convention over with and head back to the hills of wherever.
Eastwood was a popular elected Mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea California.
I would have preferred that they bring out Eastwood, Tom Selleck, Jon Voight, and Bruce Willis together as all are Republicans. Maybe add James Woods who though a registered Democrat, supports conservative Republicans.
Clint can speak at whatever convention he wants to. It will be interesting to see what a professional actor can do for the Republicans, who hate the Liberal acting community he represents, according to Republicans. Perhaps Clint can become the new NRA "talking head" now that Burt Lancaster no longer presides over them. What a hoot. Am sure all his friends in the hills above Santa Barbaria will cheer him on.
Oops, my mistake..I meant Charlton Heston, but surprised none of you trolls used me for bait before I retro-actively tried to fix the damage to my reputation.....
Love it - hope he talks about family values - long term affair with Sondra Locke - at least one abortion. Out of wedlock child with an actress while he was still in first marriage, then has smart mouth younger kids - just what I want my family to see as a role model. The Republicans should choose people who reflect those values they want for the rest of us - when's the Newt appearing with the plastic doll? I seriously think one of my favorite movies was Absolute Power - great reminder of the Nixon years!!
Republicans did pick the role model they want to speak for them! Republicans just don't want the poor to have access to the same doctors and services....
And that, my friend, is what we call hypocrisy.
I just looked it up in the dictionary and saw a photo of the GOP elephant in the margin next to the word.
I'm a huge fan of Clint Eastwood's work. But I'm still NOT going to vote for the Romney/Ryan Fascist ticket.
So you are goung to vote for the Obama/Biden ticket that is endorsed by the COMMUNIST PARTY of the U.S.A.?
Really?
A writer for the Communist Party USA says that “…re-electing Obama is absolutely essential,” and warns that “divisions among Democrats and a potential wave of bad economic news can combine to threaten President Obama’s reelection.”
Marxist John Case, who writes for various CPUSA publications, has written a piece, “The danger of a Romney election [1],” for the party publication People’s World, which warns that “Re-electing Obama is not sufficient to bring economic recovery or even relief to our people. Only a different class configuration in political power can do necessary minimum reforms to give us a chance. But re-electing Obama is absolutely essential.
ssmithlg if you want to play that game, the Republican ticket is endorsed by the Ku Klux Klan and Westboro Baptist Church.
How come Ku Klux Klan use to be with democrats party?
was one reason because being abe linclon was with republicians.
From Democrat U.S. Senator Robert Byrd, former recruiter for the KKK.......
“ I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ”
— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944
Because at one time the Democrats used to be bigots, too, but now Republicans hold the crown....
I'll always love Clint's movies. Heartbreak Ridge is one of my favorites.
Guess what, though: another rich 65+ year old white man singing Romney's praises isn't going to make much of an impression on anyone still trying to make up their mind as to whom to vote for. File this one under the category of NO BIG DEAL...
Just think, I used to like his movies until now. Just another Arnold wanna be. Youve just lost a fan.
Give the guy a break, he's 82 years old and apparently senile....and he won't have to worry about his medicare!
I'd rather have one Clint Eastwood on my side any day. That half time ad was right on; perhaps some of you just missed the meaning. "It's half time, America." If we don't pull together and stop acting divisively, the 4th quarter won't be pretty!
It matters not to me in any way, shape or form WHO the GOP has for a speaker or a supporter. I know how to read and research information for myself--I don't need someone, even a 'Hollywood Insider' to tell me how to vote or why. Although I enjoy movies made by, acted in and produced by Clint Eastwood, I don't care that he supports Mitt Romney or why because I don't like the political platform, political shenanigans nor political leadership of the GOP. Period.
So KAREN L. BONNER, you are goIng to vote for the Obama/Biden ticket that is endorsed by the COMMUNIST PARTY of the U.S.A.?

troll....
Good, I hope he brings that monkey with him. He was one of the best as an actor. I have no beef of him making his speech. It's America and he's entitle to vote for whoever. It's not my job to judge him. I won't remember him from a speech, I will always remember him as a great actor.
President Obama--2012
I would bet money that Eastwood has money in Swiss bank accounts the Cayman islands And any place where he can shelter his money. Reminds me of A FLIP FLOPPER who is the Republican Candidate for the Office Of the President OF THE United States Of America . LMAO Their both Phoneys
you mean also people like John Kerry, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other Democrat members of Congress?
Anyone who is smart will put money where it earns more. The stupid just give it to the govt
LOL Clint Eastwood, the old peeps while be very happy. He fits the people who long for day's gone by,(aka) Republican Party. People living in the real word, not so much!
Just heard Old Clint Bombed!
Of course, ANYONE (Dims, Libs, Reps) would expect to hear nothing but SH## from the Libs & Dims about CLint's showing up at the Party. They are losing ground and votes by the minute and for good reason. America is more intelligent than it was 4 years ago. Experience does that. But, we have to teach each generation the same lesson. Last mistake as big as Obama was Carter - 21% prime rate, 13.2% unemployment... we fixed that with Reagan and we'll fix it with Romney/Ryan. The DamnDems will lose because America knows it will cease to exist if they don't replace that joke in the White House. He has made America the laughing stock of Global jokes. But hey, if we never gave him a chance at his Hopey-Changey thing, you DamnDems would've never stopped bit@hing... Oh wait... you never DO STOP BIT@CHING!!! That's ok. Take your binkey and go to your room... AND FUT THE SHUCK UP!!
The GOP loves their Actor-Politician Heros. Not surpisingly, on screen they play the part of tough-guy protecting the little guy from evil rancher or bandito and his gang of gunslingers; then in real life they hire themselves out to Corporate Robber Barons.
Clint is in it for the money and his own self-interests, making more movies. Clint knows his life clock is running out and scared of dying when he is having the most fun and recognition. Its as if he will keel over the instant he stops acting and directing.
ps. That little California town he was mayor of, Carmel, is a poster child for Real Estate Development/Speculation rape and pillageing thanks to him. Wonder if he will be pimping any of his unsold Golf Resort Condos?
I am just so amazed whenever I read these comments. So are those of you who are making these snide remarks happy with our economy? Are you satisfied with China having all of the jobs that at one time were located in the US and allowed our citizens to be productive and make a decent wage? Are you happy with 50% of people in the US not paying any taxes at all? Do you really think that you can tax the people who create the jobs to the point where they make up the taxes for the 50% who pay none and that will give us a thriving economy? Yes, Clint Eastwood is another rich, old white guy, but guess what? He earned every dime he has because our country is the land of opportunity. Or at least it was. There is nothing wrong with that, contrary to what our current POTUS would have you believe. That is not an evil thing, it is a good thing. Seriously, if you ever plan on having children or grandchilren, please listen to all sides. Their futures are at stake.
OK, I believe that statement to be total BS.
Please cite your relevant quotes, links, facts or other proof to support your supposition.
Otherwise STFU.
So you are telling me that our current President does not want to raise taxes on the people who create the jobs? That would be the rich people of any color or sex who own corporations and have seats on the Board of Directors of other corporations. Those are the people who create your jobs in America. President Obama will tell you that he wants to raise their taxes. He has stated that in many speeches. In my opinion, I beleive that means that he considers it not to be a good thing to work hard and make money, that you should be punished by having higher taxes.
Oh and by the way, there is no need to be rude on here. We are all entitled to state our opinions without someone turning nasty on us. I am an American and I have freedom of speech and I will post whenever I feel like it.
Have a good evening.
What, you have to suck up to these dirtbags now Clint? Pretty bad praising the auto bailout even though it was a huge success, because by praising that you are praising a n-well, you know. I'm beginning to think Clint didn't have to do much acting when he played the racist old man in Gran Torino.
......success? for the Unions maybe....... General Motors STILL owes the Taxpayers BILLION$
The president's new campaign video narrated by actor Tom Hanks claims GM has "repaid" its loans. But in a revelation by the special inspector general monitoring the TARP bailout program, GM and GMAC together still owe the biggest share of the remaining $119 billion TARP debt.
It didn't endorse Obama, it just endorsed Obama's saving of the domestic auto industry.
Which Mitt himself has said he would not have done.
Also by the way, Bin Laden would be alive and well, again spoken by Mitt Romney.
Well, I'll reserve judgement until I see what he has to say. After Christie's self promotion speech the other day, who knows? That speech wasn't exactly a glowing endorsement of Romney. More of the anyone else, but Obama crowd. Let's face it, who really wants Romney to be president?
Some part of me thinks that Eastwood is going to deliver them a bit of a sucker-punch in his speech.
Just goes to show that being a brilliant actor and writer does not mean you have commonsense. I dunno why Republicans have put Clint on a pedestal, his roles are fake, pretend. He is not who he plays in the movies. Or do R's have the inability to tell fact from fantasy? Actually, that could make a lot of sense...
That's FUNNY! LOL
Clint is still the man!!
HEY OBAMA, YOU FEEL LUCKY,PUNK !!!! I DON'T THINK SO !!! GO ROMNEY !!!!! RESTORE AMERICA !!
P.S. All you Liberals can suck it !
Your intelligence, articulation and powers of persuasion are breathtaking. No, really...
Perhaps the Republicans invited him to speak in the same way they invited Stephen Colbert to speak at the Bush White House Correspondent's Dinner? Remember how THAT went for them?
His testimony to congress about illegal agricultural workers was beyond hysterical.
Going out into the field in a Hoveround!!!!
Colbert/Stewart-2020
