Clint Eastwood confirmed as RNC surprise guest

Actor and director Clint Eastwood has been confirmed as a surprise guest Thursday night at the Republican National Convention.

Director/actor Clint Eastwood accepts the award for Distinguished Collaborator onstage during the 14th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards With Presenting Sponsor Lacoste held at The Beverly Hilton hotel on February 21, 2012 in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Eastwood recently thrust his support behind GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who will receive his official nomination at the convention tonight.

Earlier this year, a Chrysler ad narrated by Eastwood that aired during the Super Bowl appeared to endorse President Barack Obama, prompting the actor to respond that he was not backing either candidate. He then went on to voice his support for Romney earlier this month at a fundraiser in Idaho.

Eastwood will address the convention Thursday night in Tampa, Fla., before Romney accepts his nomination. Romney will be introduced by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

NBC's Kelly O'Donnell and Sue Kroll contributed to this story.

It is the Reps that want to take CHOICE from people. The Dems want to take CHOICE from corps to screw people over. It is really that simple.

Respect the art, who give a s*** what an artists political beliefs are.

And Kelly, you think liberals have to be tolerant of the GOP (Greedy Old Pricks)? Nah.

It's refreshing to see someone break the stereotype mold once in a while. He's just proving that not everyone in Hollywood is living in their own little dream world.

The A-listers who back Obama support human rights and environmental causes. They're solidly grounded in reality.

The "celebrities" who support the 1% aren't nearly as impressive. Brittany Spears? Hank Williams Jr? Really?

Well, they need someone to jack up the base and add some kind of excitement to their convention. One of the most boring conventions....Ever! Can we assume that he will of course speak before Mittens so that the crowd will be all happy and revved up? Mitt has got to be one of the most boring and uninspiring speakers in the country so having a "big movie star" should get the old biddies swooning!

The GOP has celebrity envy. Dems have most of the A-listers.

The GOP has the likes of Patricia Heaton who jumped on board the Rush Limbaugh attack on a college student, then had to back down publicly. Kelsey Grammer. Kid Rock. Nothing to write home about.

Clint may be a geezer but his career was impressive and he's still making movies.

It's because they have nothing else,

Clint is getting more hype then the rest of the RNC, that in itself says more about them then anything else. They don't inspire anyone. So they are trying to get an actor who has inspired people through his art, to inspire them for their political ends. Sad.

Maybe we can fill the empty commercial spots with Billy Beer and Obummer Beer

Do you do drugs or maybe you've hit the cocktails a little too much today? Or, are you just a really hyper person? The one thing I did find interesting about the RNC Convention was how they lined up all the "types" that your party is known to be against, you know, the hispanics, the token blacks, the hispanic woman makes good in America angle. Why do you suppose they didn't have a proud conservative gay speaker? Just couldn't go that far? The crowd would have really gone nuts about that. Oh, speaking about nuts. So typical of your party people to throw peanuts at a black female camera person and tell her that "this is how the animals are fed". That really just says it all about your party. Wow, sign me up!

If the Dems. want to have a mystery speaker George Clooney would be a good choice and they have a choice of many, many others. This is just an accurate sign of the Repugilcon Party's desperation to use a feeble minded old man for political BS.

I've always tried to "like" ole Clint despite his hyper-violent "Dirty Harry" films. I mean he did portray a man who tried to steal the wife of another in the sexy Bridges of Madison County. But when it comes right down to it with all his mean spirited vengeful spaghetti westerns, he really is a bit of a predictable OLD MAN BORE. So I'm glad Eastwood has finally come out of the closet in his twilight years to show his true creepy colors, red-PREDOMINANTLY WHITE-with a tinge of blue. What a JACKHOLE.

The Republicans bumped Bush 41, Bush 43, Sarah Palin and Dick Chaney on the first day of the convention because of some wind and rain. Let Ron Paul grab all the TV cameras. Now have Clint Eastwood close the convention, they must be feeling lucky.

Clint Eastwood is an owner of Pebble Beach Resort and notorious for using his star power to overwhelm the small town of Carmel, Ca to buy attorneys to evade environmental laws for his real estate developments. there is a dark side to Clint not well-known in the entertainment pages. He is a lot like Mitt Romney in many respects--fits well into the Republican Party. I expect Pebble beach is short of cash again and Clint is currying favor with the .001%ers again to bail him out.

Pebble beach is the richest town per capita in the country. I used to tutor out there when I lived in the neighboring town of Pacific grove. I still like the guy's work. He just has a much different view of the world from his stand point and his friends.

Just as a very poor person will want a handout, a very rich person will want one too. One will be grateful and the other will think they deserve it.

Even a lifetime of sweat, blood and labor is not worth 1000 others lives. Money doesn't grow on tree is correct, but where does it come from, surely not in investment banking. Labor creates money.

Having a conservative governor who is governing a LIBERAL state gets you basically no where. They voted for Arnold because he was famous... not because they believed in his ideals. The rest of the country is gonna have to bail those lib-tards out sooner than later.

I remember when Dukakis was running for the oval office and Arnie's new incredibly stupid wifey, Maria "I really am a dumb ass Shriver" said her hubby would "squash" Dukakis. And then Arnie himself uttered that star power quote on how Dukakis "would terminate America". Then, like many big mouthed silver screen ignoramuses he became a two time governor of California, voted in by the "people", and was a totally dismal failure. He even lost his wife (finally) because of his RIGHTWING PHILANDERING AND LOVE CHILD.

Just think if that had happened earlier with the RIGHTWING BANKING CEOS RAPING OF AMERICA DURING BUSH......we'd have nothing left in our accounts. And now Mitt and Ryan and his whoring crew of stooges can finish the job..........on America. It's gonna be great. The sad part is that after Romney/Ryan, our nation will never recover, the middle class with be long dead, along with freedom, liberty and TRUTH. It's gonna be good, chaos for all, and eventually you freaking ugly Repugnicans.............civil war.............and when that occurs the "people" always win, usually dragging out the leaders and govgoons and corp whores and hanging them.

That was part of the president's successful efforts to keep our financial system and economy from going into ruin, which the tea baggers seem to forget, or just ignore.

In the end, it doesn't matter much what actors say or think. It's the President, smart, principled and moderate, vs. the wooden, ultra rich, tax dodger, who currently is flying the flag of the Caman Islands from his yacht in Tampa Bay harbor! And I'm not making that up:

The Dems did it to GW the Repubs do it to Obama, c'mon kids.

Fitzme - vermontguy... everyone who references an ape, monkey, chimp... isn't meaning it as a slur to African Americans.

Most people know exactly what he meant by that racist comment.

No wonder blacks don't vote for the GOP, because they're not utterly clueless.

Mysay - I really don't care about your twisted panties and English lessons. What most folks do when they cannot debate an issue is to go off-point and break out Websters. I would be willing to bet that I hold a higher degree than your schooling, but again, it really doesn't matter, nor do your opinions and insults, lol. If that bothers you, well the world must be a difficult place for you to navigater (< mispelled that just for you:) through. Thanks for visiting Wiki; I'm sure they appreciate the web hit ;) Move along now; I'm sure its your nap-time.
