What part of pretending to be someone you are NOT hasn't sunk in with the Willard's?

Then, we get the NJ bully who has a penchant for throwing his weight around!

Meet Chris Christie, same old social darwinism:

We are the Party of the Super-Rich.

Translation:

If you made it up to the $$Top Tier with us - you deserve to be here.

If you didn't make it where we are, you are a moocher.

And it is entirely your fault for being where you are.

And because you are not up here where we are, will make it harder for you.

Well actually Spanky Obama is either tied or winning in the national polls and has a lead just above or well above the margin of error in all the important swing states that Romney has to virtually sweep to get to 270 electoral votes. So I will ask the same question of you. If Obama is so terrible and Romney so great why is this not a complete blowout in Romney's favor?

Blueberry pancakes and rib eye steaks. Sounds very middle class America doesn't it?

I can just hear the GOP'ers as they whisper to each other that once they are out of sight of the public eye they'll go somewhere to enjoy 2lb lobsters, 20oz fillet Mignon's, caviar by the gallon and Dom Perignon by the barrel.

All will be served to them by a bunch of idiots who voted for them believing that they to could be wealthy and live the life of the ubber wealthy as the GOP'ers do. And all the while the elitist sitting at the table will smile, nod and then laugh like hell when the server is gone.

I see no one wants to talk about dissention in the Republican ranks. Party leaders decided to make the GOP just a bit more top-down and quite a bit less democratic than before...which fits entirely into their authoritarian mindset.

When loud booing broke out on the Republican National Convention floor in Tampa on Tuesday, it wasn’t just coming from die-hard Ron Paul supporters. An obscure change to party rules exposed a larger rift between Mitt Romney’s Republican establishment and the GOP grassroots. “Our party is a grassroots party and not a top-down party,” says Julianne Thompson, a Romney delegate and Georgia state coordinator for Tea Party Patriots. “Both of these rules undermine the very nature and the spirit of our party.” Republican officials from Nevada called it a “Marxist-style power grab.” Writing on Facebook, Sarah Palin called it “a direct attack on grassroots activists by the GOP establishment, and it must be rejected.” This was probably not the way the Romney team wanted the convention to begin.

The controversy is rooted in the battle between Romney and Paul, who still has plenty of devoted fans in Tampa. Because of quirks in the way delegates are chosen, Paulites were able, through their superior organization, to dominate the selection process in several states that Paul didn’t win, including Maine and Minnesota. There’s been a protracted fight over seating these delegates—on Tuesday, after the party stripped Paul of half of his 20 delegates from Maine, part of that delegation walked out.

In an effort to get more control over the delegate-selection process in the future, Romney’s people overstepped in a way that infuriated many conventiongoers who are otherwise supporting him. Yesterday, the Republican National Committee proposed a new rule that would allow the party’s nominee to overrule state conventions and choose his or her own delegates. This, many feared, would turn delegate slots into perks for insiders and donors, and further shut activists out of the process. The reaction was livid. In a widely circulated open letter to the Republican National Committee, Thompson wrote, “The audacity of creating a firestorm when there is an opportunity for unity and peace that is needed to win back the Senate and take back the White House is irresponsible and I seriously question the motives of those behind this attempt.”

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/08/29/rules-change-sparks-grassroots-boos-at-gop-convention.html

So much for the concept that the Tea Party has turned the GOP into a grass roots, led from the bottom organization. Oh, and if you think this is a phony controversy, a creation of the "liberal media" you weren't listening to Mark Levin last night. I was. He was livid. He quoted Michelle Malkin. She was livid. His special guest was Princess Dumb@$$ of the Northwoods herself. She was livid.

Congratulations Tea Partiers, Libertarians, and Social Conservatives. You just learned that you're no one special, just some of "those people" Ann Romney speaks of so derisively.

Ha Romney might have been served well by trying some community organizing at some point in his life, then he may lot be losing in every demographic but older white males. Lots of other voters out there in those communities, maybe it's not too late for Mitt to hang out with them and see if there is anything he can personally do for them.

I will take Michelle Obama over some finger-wagging scold trying to tell me how to raise my "boys".

Number one, I teach my son to tell the truth, apparently neither she nor Mitt learned that lession. The fact-checkers went into a coma trying to add up all the lies presented last night.

A few questions:

Will Paul Ryan point up to the big fancy debt clock tonight and say "I built that"?

Will they have a special presentation tonight or tomorrow where the debt numbers speed up dramatically to show the impact of the Romney/Ryan budget?

Will the theme of the Democratic Convention be "We Don't Like To Fire People", or "We Promise Two Cadillacs in Every Elevator"?

See Forrest, the polls are tied, but the polls all over sample dems by at least 6 points and in some cases, 19.

No Forrest - reverse you question and answer it.

See, O shot his ad. wad, and has tried to paint Mitt as a bad guy all summer. Mitt is about to unload all over Obama [nice image, eh?].

"See, O shot his ad. wad, and has tried to paint Mitt as a bad guy all summer."

Spanky, Republicans have hammered on Obama for 3 and a half years, and Romney has already spent 1 billion on negative adds, what else can they say that has not been said, to the point of nobody even hears it anymore except for the people that have been in that camp all along. Republicans spent so much effort on ridiculous things like birth certificates, they discredited themselves, now even if they have legitimate criticisms, it largely falls on deaf ears, you know the old boy cried wolf thing. I also sense that republicans and there total allegiance to the oil industry will cause high gas prices to be least a big of a problem to them as it might be for the president. Romney has changed position on every single issue and that is very well documented, this should make the debates absolutely brutal for him, I know I could debate him and make him look like a fool with his own words, that is never hard to do with somebody who changes their story as much as he does is it. Lastly there is this little matter of him "taking the fifth" on his tax returns, what is it you always say about people who feel the need to "take the fifth". He will be twisted like a pretzel in the debates, he has said anything and everything, and he will not be able to sensibly reconcile that now will he.

Bottom-line is that he trails big time in every demographic but one, and those people are not polled as likely voters, or registered democrats, they are seldom polled at all, if they show up to vote on election day, Romney will never get the electoral votes he needs.

Anyone who wags their finger at me loses their finger and maybe even half the hand. What gestures reveal about people is amazing. Ann Romney seems to think she and her husband are so much better than anyone else. This is not a kinddom but a constitutional republic and a democracy, dear Anne. Your sociopathic husband is not the end all and be all of the world. It shouldn't be all about him but about how he is going to humbly do his job to help the people of this country live better. Sociopath Mitt only cares if HE lives better not about anyone else.

During the closing minutes of Andrea Mitchell's inteview with Marco Rubio today at noonish, Rubio stated that 'the last time we(the Repubs) were in power, we didn't do so well' - the understatement of this campaign, but at least Rubio admitted it. Rubio went on to say that now that the Repubs were united under Romney, they(the repubs), deserved another chance. Really? Another chance for Americans to re-experience the Bush years?

Not on my watch!

It will be interesting to see if Rubio goes there again during his speech.

As if watching the Romney baby maker trying out her new red wedding dress wasn't enough last night, we now have to brace ourselves for Ryan's follow up which includes showing us his baby maker balls are man enough to tear down Medicare. Hey Ryan, here's an idea, how about forcing the government into owning up to its responsibility to Medicare. Now that would be showing some gonads.

Why isn't Romney walking away with this Spanky, as close as it seems he cannot seem to pull ahead of Obama, you think it will get better for him after the democratic convetion and the debates? Because the things are bad and it is all Obama's fault all day every day is just not quite getting it done for republicans.

How come you never address Romney's "taking the fifth" on his tax returns, I have asked you about that numerous times and you just seem to ignore it, your a lawyer can you explainto me the benefit for Romney of doing that. Why does a great guy like Romney have to "take the fifth" Spanky.

        Will republicans ever address this.

Perhaps you are just being lawyerly, since I am sure they teach you to never ask your client a question in front of a jury, when you already know the answer to that question will be a disaster for him.

Now why would I vote for a man to hold the highest office in the land when he chooses to "take the fifth" on his own personal business.

Romney has hammered Romney, he makes it real easy for me not to even consider voting for him.

He might as well just come out and say I can't show my tax returns because it will ruin me, that's what it means when you "take the fifth" we all know that, Spanky sure as hell knows that.

          Clara,

I get it, Romney & Ryan no good. So why is it necessary to degrade Romney's wife? As a woman don't you find it insulting with his gold digging remark?

            #1.44 - Wed Aug 29, 2012 4:20 PM EDT

I thought the only one taking 'the fifth' these days was Boehner!

            I kid.

No, I find Ann R$mney the Victim insulting. I find her comments about women heaving a sigh insulting. If her party would support Lily Ledbetter and Fair Pay standards - women would benefit greatly from economic security that men shouldn't be providing.

I find her constant victimization insulting. I find her demeanor insulting. I find her rhetoric silly. I find their known tax subsidies to be insulting. I find her using MS and Breast Cancer at times of heat from the media insulting. I find her position on women's issues insulting and quite frankly, I find her comment that she advises her husband on these issues down right FRIGHTENING. I don't believe she had a middle class moment raising her five children and I find her down right disingenous in pretending that she 'gets' it. She doesn't or she would stop running to the Victim card every time the media gives her some heat.

I have NEVER heard Michelle Obama make a comment like "It's our turn" or "You people have gotten everything we are legally required to give" or "...Costco..." 27 times in the span of five minutes.

So, sorry, no - I just can't abide the Vagina Voters who think every woman that enters the fray of politics needs to support all women in politics. Not all women are created EQUAL - the subservient ones need to shut up and TAKE the heat if they're going to continue to let the men folk tell them how it is.

How much in health-care costs (not to mention lost productivity) do the obese cost this nation every year? I'll wait.

Bias against heavy people is no different than bias against people of color or who are different regarding sexual orientation or anything else. While I may not agree with Gov. Christy on many things his weight is his problem and not yours or mine. If people in the US worried half as much about their own back yards as they do others we'd all be better off. People are fat for a variety of reasons. It isn't always because they are lazy or gluttons but could be due to medication that causes the weight gain. It could be a genetic condition or a disease like any other. We simply don't know about all, each and every case is different. So descrimination is descriminationn and it is wrong no matter what the reason. This I'm perfect and anyone who dares even think about being anything, even slightyly different than me is inferior and should be criticized stuff has got to stop.

I can answer that one, too easy.....

President Obama mentioned climate change several times in his speeches over the last few weeks in Iowa in regards to tax credits for Wind Power and other alternative energy sources.

Mitt Romney mentioned it in his 2003 speech in front of a coal plant - the speech where he said “I will not create jobs or hold jobs that kill people, and that plant, that (coal) plant kills people”.

                    Caesar -

Three basic influencers of gas prices:

                    1) Supply & Demand - not controllable in the short term (even with "drill baby drill")

                    2) Exchange Rates - not controllable in the short term

                    3) Speculation - can be regulated and or eliminated

Keep in mind this is global supply and demand. The USA doesn't have enough oil to sway global supply that much.

Steven Chu also said that gas prices would have to be at European levels before consumers would make changes, however he never advocated for gas prices to be that high.

Another distortion - I would expect no less from followers of Mitt Romney.

Who said anything about rich dems or republicans? I thought we were talking about the cause of high gas prices - I believe you were trying to blame President Obama?

I apologize for confusing you with facts and basic economic theory.

I should have said that as Secretary of Energy Steven Chu never advocated for higher gas prices.

He did recommend gradual increase in gas prices - in theory, as part of a strategy to eliminate dependence on foreign oil, before he was appointed.

No, but since we consume over 20% of the supply we have immense impact on the demand.

It never ceases to amaze me that "conservation" isn't "Conservative." How is it that spending less of your money on energy so you have it to fund other parts of your life isn't responsible?

If you look at where the money that funds the Conservative Movement comes from it all becomes clear.

                            A) Congress made him keep Gitmo open.

                            B) Congress never passed a budget.

                            A brief summary of Romney’s Flip/Flops:

                            Minimum wage

Campaigning for Governor, 2002: Romney stated "I do not believe that indexing the minimum wage will cost us jobs. I believe it will help us retain jobs."

As Governor, July 2006: Romney stated "…there's no question raising the minimum wage excessively causes a loss of jobs, and the loss of jobs is at the entry level."

                            Stem Cell Research

Campaigning for Governor, 2002: Romney expressed broad support for embryonic stem cell research, and said he would lobby President Bush to support it.

As Governor, 2005: Romney vetoed a Massachusetts bill to fund stem-cell research.

                            Abortion

Campaign, 2002: Romney stated "I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose and am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard." Romney's platform - "As Governor, Mitt Romney would protect the current pro-choice status quo in Massachusetts. No law would change. The choice to have an abortion is a deeply personal one. Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not the government's."

Governor, July 2005: Romney criticized Roe v. Wade in a veto message in rejecting a bill mandating access to access to emergency contraception. In February 2006, Romney stated that his views on abortion had "evolved" and "changed" since 2002 such that he then considered himself a "pro-life governor" who wishes "the laws of our nation could reflect that view".

2012: Romney said: "I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade."

                            Gun Control

Senate campaign, 1994: Romney said his views on Gun Control were "...not going to make me the hero of the NRA.."

Campaign, 2002: Romney supported the federal assault weapons ban.

July 1, 2004: Romney signed a permanent state ban on assault weapons, saying "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people." The law covered weapons such as the AK-47, Uzi, and MAC-10.

April, 2012: Romney addressed the NRA's national convention and said "We need a president who will enforce current laws, not create new ones that only serve to burden lawful gun owners."

                            Gay Rights

Senate campaign, 1994: Romney stated “..I respect the work and the efforts he's (Ted Kennedy) made on behalf of the gay community and for civil rights more generally, and I would continue that fight. There's something to be said for having a Republican who supports civil rights in this broader context, including sexual orientation. When Ted Kennedy speaks on gay rights, he's seen as an extremist. When Mitt Romney speaks on gay rights, he's seen as a centrist and a moderate. …When Ted says it, it's extreme; when I say it, it's mainstream. I think the gay community needs more support from the Republican party and I would be a voice in the Republican party to foster anti-discrimination efforts.”

Campaign 2002: Romney's stated position was "All citizens deserve equal rights, regardless of their sexual orientation. While he does not support gay marriage, Mitt Romney believes domestic partnership status should be recognized in a way that includes the potential for health benefits and rights of survivorship."

Governor, 2004: Romney stated "If the question is, 'Do you support gay marriage or civil unions?' I'd say neither. If they said you have to have one or the other, that Massachusetts is going to have one or the other, then I'd rather have civil unions than gay marriage. But I'd rather have neither."

                            Healthcare

Governor, 2006: …Romney successfully pushed for incorporating an individual mandate at the state level. April 2006: Romney signed legislation that mandates that nearly all Massachusetts residents buy or obtain health insurance coverage or face a penalty in the form of an additional income tax assessment. The bill established a regulatory authority called the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority to implement the law and establish insurance standards.

2010: In a speech, Romney said of Obamacare "I hope we're ultimately able to eliminate some of the differences, and repeal the bad and keep the good." He applauded the individual mandate, which he says "works."

Campaign 2012: Romney promises to repeal “Obamacare” on Day One.

                            Taxes

Campaign 2002: Romney refused to sign an anti-tax pledge put forth by Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform. Romney presented a plan to balance the budget without raising taxes. Romney also favored gambling as a way to help balance the Massachusetts deficit.

2003: A windfall in capital gains tax revenue caused by a previously enacted capital gains tax increase reduced the deficit by $1.3 billion.

2006: The combined state and local tax burden in Massachusetts increased during Romney's governorship. Romney cut spending by $1.6 billion, including $700 million in reductions in state aid to cities and towns. In response, cities and towns raised property taxes by five percent to their highest level in 25 years. In 2005, Romney signed legislation allowing local commercial property taxes to be raised, which resulted in $100 million more in property taxes from local business owners.

Romney created new fees and increased fees for many state licenses and services. In all 33 new fees were created and 57 fees were increased, raising $501 million in new income in the first year of the fee increase program - more than any other state in the nation. Romney increased a state gasoline “special fee” by two cents per gallon, generating about $60 million per year in additional revenue. This made for a total effective state gasoline tax of 23.5 cents per gallon.

                            Blind Trusts

Senate campaign, 1994: Mitt Romney questioned Ted Kennedy over the then-senator's blind trust in a debate. He called Kennedy's blind trust "a ruse," arguing that it is easy to determine where one's money is going.

2012: "With regard to any foreign investments, I understand, and you understand of course, that my investments have been held by a blind trust, have been managed by a trustee," Romney said. "I don't manage them. I don't even know where they are. That trustee follows all U.S. laws. All the taxes are paid, as appropriate. All of them have been reported to the government. There's nothing hidden there." Romney’s “blind trust” also invested millions in his son Tag’s start-up business.

                            Coal

2002: Newly-elected Gov. Romney hires Douglas Foy, an environmental activist, and puts him in charge of supervising four state agencies. Mr. Foy will serve as the governor’s negotiator on a regional climate-change initiative and put emissions caps in place for coal-fired power plants.

2003: Romney joined Mr. Foy and other activists outside a coal-fired plant to show his commitment to the emissions caps. Romney said “I will not create jobs or hold jobs that kill people, and that plant, that plant kills people”.

2005: Romney implemented emissions caps but backed away from a regional climate-change agreement. He announced this decision on the same day he said he would not seek re-election as governor (and began his run for president).

2012: Romney stands in front of a group of Coal Miners and decries President Obama’s “job-killing regulations”.

                            Reagan

Senate campaign, 1994: Romney said “Look, I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan-Bush"..

2010 – Romney said "The principles that Ronald Reagan espoused are as true today as they were when he spoke them."

                            SOB: Here you go.

“During 2009 and early 2010, he is totally engaged in the struggle to get health-care reform,” a White House participant said when asked about the president’s engagement with the effort to close Guantanamo. “That occupies his mind, and his time.”

Obama has conceded that Guantanamo will not close anytime soon. “Obviously I haven’t been able to make the case right now, and without Congress’s cooperation, we can’t do it,” he said this month in an interview with the Associated Press. “That doesn’t mean I stop making the case.”

Administration officials lay blame for the failed initiative on Congress, including Democrats who deserted the president, sometimes in droves. The debate, they said, became suffused with fear — fear that transferring detainees to American soil would create a genuine security threat, fear that closing Guantanamo would be electoral suicide. Some Democratic lawmakers pleaded with the White House not to press too hard, according to administration officials.

I can't give a link, but it was from Washington Post article titled: "Guantanamo Bay: Why Obama hasn’t fulfilled his promise to close the facility".

President Obama is losing? Was there a new poll released today that reflects that?

Every poll I have seen that takes the Electoral College into account shows President Obama with a clear lead.

Again, as Bush/Kerry 2004 shows an incumbent can still win with a slight electoral college advantage.

Is that all you got, "counselor"?

REALLY? 99% are struggling to put food on the table?

Man... I must be one of the 1%'ers because I'm not struggling to put food on the table... nor is anyone that lives on my street.. or in my neighborhood for that matter.

Didn't you have both houses of congress from 2006 to 2010, then the White House since Jan 09? How did that work out for ya? You should be eating some really fine & tasty steaks by now shouldn't ya????

This has been debunked so many times. Look it up and learn. It didn't work out for any of us because the re was no control plus the Republicans filibustered everything that came before them.

By continuing to repeat a lie, you negate anything else you have to say.

Kudos to the Nevada delegation (my state) for falling on their sword for Ron Paul yesterday, even though the Republik party commissars made them look like fools. The Ron Paul faction has upended the Republik party so bad in Nevada it is fair to say there is not a functioning Republik Party in Nevada. President Obama gains a little more advangtage here because of the total chaos on the right.

Man it is true - I always hear about Liberals resorting to name calling like juvenile teenagers do and that is all I've read on this very liberal MSNBC blog! LOL!

I also keep reading some of you libs constantly pointing to another wrong in order justify a the first wrong - that is what they call intellectually ignorant.

Then I read a real IQ lacking and frankly stunningly racist comment in response to the repubs using the minority speakers that msnbc WOULDN'T show last night as just puppets (or whatever it was said) so therefore msnbc wouldn't fall for it!!! Are you kidding me??? I have a personal friend, a former BLACK congressmen, a fellow athletic teammate who's a republican - would you liberal haters actually say something like that to his face directly? This is a man who's always had conservative beliefs and has conviction like nobody else I know - and you LIBS RESORT to basically calling him with all others a sac lamb, a puppet or any other stupid racist insulting comment you can think of just because they aren't a democrat.

                                Pathetic.

In rereading all posts through this 100+ thread, the worst I found was Empress Michele. (#1.9) And the irony of that is in the immediate following lefty post (Chilled), there was reference to "Queen Ann." All that hate posting was followed by "dress" warfare...oooooh, the inhumanity.

buc'sdad--you seem to have missed the point--the obtuseness of someone who has Cayman Island accounts and who doesn't want to explain those accounts--having a party on a ship flying the Cayman Island flag--don't you see the irony? Wouldn't you have made sure that that party was on a ship flying a US flag---Mitt is running for the presidency, after all....Mitt, I know Ann wants us to trust you; but, we're going to have to see those tax returns!

I think it speak volumes that Obama is running in the red now while Romney gets to TAP that juicy 160 mil campaign fund when he says "I do" to the GOP tomorrow night.....Debbie WasserMAN and the rest of the "clown car administration" are going to have to put the "LIE MACHINE" in overdrive....I just love making fun of you self-righteous" LIB TARDS....it makes me smile. Ann Romney paused for the collective GOP chins to drop when she said that she and Mitt moved into a 'basement apartment' - shock horror! and then complained about having the 5 boys all at home on a wet day, arguing and being boys. I wish she could just stretch her imagination to think about people who would be glad to live in a basement apartment, especially with a nice safety net on both sides of the family if Mitt doesn't graduate from his 100K a year degree courses, and maybe imagine a woman or man with children worrying about being able to buy shoes for those children, or how the boys have put their knees through their jeans again! and want to play sports or play a musical instrument, but they just can't find the money. Or unhealthy children, who need tests and hospital visits, and she and her husband can't take time off work without losing a day's pay. I would hate to have MS and am sorry that Ann Romney suffers from it. But she has everything imaginable to ameliorate her situation, her boys are healthy, she has never had to worry about money in her life, so please, Ann Romney, don't ask for sympathy for your 'struggles'.
